Great place with great service. The view was great of the golf course and it was a great place to watch the sunset. If you come here you HAVE to sit outside...or at least get a table near the window. They have a full bar, which seemed to be a little harder to come by at some of the other places in the area. The passionfruit lemonade was light and refreshing and something different from a Lava Flow, Mai Tai or other traditionally Hawaiian drinks. For starters, I would recommend the lettuce wraps as the filling was very good. I also tried the crab cakes, but in my opinion they were not as moist as I would have liked and a little too crispy. For my main entree, I had the blackened mahi mahi, which was cooked nearly perfectly. The fudge brownie sundae was a great end to the meal, but what is not to love about brownies, ice cream and other sweet deliciousness?

You're on your way to the airport for an early flight, stop here for breakfast. Great service, and really solid breakfast food. The Kalua Pork Fried rice and eggs is epic. Not a huge menu, but enough. They open at 8:30am. We were travelling with our 3 year old son, and we had made some peanut butter/jelly sandwiches for him for the flight, but we left them in our hotel room. They were super cool and we asked them if we could get a couple pbj's and they made us two for a couple bucks each. Super cool.

Same as the Kihei location, awesome food but the VIEW here is what dining in Hawaii is all about. They have this seared ahi salad that is oh so ono, chicken and Cesar salad WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Must eat here

This is one of the best kept secrets on the island. Good food, good view, and very inexpensive sandwiches. I've gotten the mac nut crusted chicken sandwich each time. Tastes great, and I like the bread it comes on. The sandwich also comes with a caesar salad that is good too. And for $9? You will be hard pressed to find a better deal here on Maui.

The view is good. Food is mediocre at best. The waitress has an extremely bad attitude. Extremely long waiting time for the food. Flies around everywhere.

Stopped here because of all the great reviews. It was just ok. Nothing that stood out for me. Lettuce wraps were decent as was the shrimp papaya salad.

The food is great. The prices won't break your wallet. Can't ask for a better view of west Maui mountains and 1st and 18th fairways.

Meal number 8 on our last trip to Hawaii: On our way to drop Auntie off at the Airport, she suggested that we hit up Cafe O'Lei at the Maui Lani golf course. The crowd's resounding retort was "didn't we go to Cafe O'Lei in Kehei a few days ago???" The answer of course (if you have been paying attention) was YES. But.....the twist here is that this locale has the same menu available as their sister location, but, at a far reduced price!!! Bonus! Though conventional wisdom would suggest that a golf course dinner would be just as expensive, one only has to look around to see that this inland location cannot demand the same kind of prices as a beach-front version. So.....long-winded explanation aside, on to the food. I was tempted to get the blackened mahi again, but, I wanted to try something new. So i went with the Caesar (of course) and the grilled Ono. The Caesar was quite good, and, the Ono was grilled perfectly with the right amount of spices that resulted in a dish both appealing to the taste buds and the eyes. And....the same dish was $6-8 less than the same dish at the Kihei location. Yay!! There ain't nothing better than discounted Ono. Ya feel me?

We have been here many times over the years. Celebrated birthdays, business lunches, and dinner with families. Tonight's dinner service was exceptionally horrible. We made reservation for this "well-known" restaurant on Saturday night, but still had to wait 20 minutes. Server was so busy, she never introduced herself to us as we sat down. "Girlfriend" didn't offer the specials for the evening, we had to ask and then was given a paper menu from another table for the specials. We ordered appetizers: crab cakes and pork quesadilla with drinks and waited another 20 minutes. Then ordered our dinner which they ran out of prime rib special. Our onion soup came out with the "short-hair" manager who apologized for the delay. I asked to bring out my son's cheeseburger on the keiki menu we ordered if that was possible. They brought his dinner out and asked if we were ready to order...I reminded "girlfriend" we did order with her - it took another 15 minutes until we got our order which she said nobody left a ticket out so it was just sitting there waiting. The crusted macadamia nut chicken was room temperature but, my cold linguine pasta dinner which she forgot to bring out the caesar salad, I asked for a box to take home. I was too afraid to ask to reheat my dinner as she might forget this. So, we decided to have dessert....brownie with ice cream and sorbet. Again, "girlfriend" comes back out and informs us that they ran out of brownies. I replied, to our "girlfriend" server with glasses and no name, to please cancel our dessert and we were ready to leave. I have to give the rating one star for bringing out the cheeseburger as requested and for the "short-hair" manager who didn't charge us for the two onion soup, but she never came by to apologize or to see how we were doing. I once did enjoy this restaurant, now I certainly may consider other dining options.

Ever since I moved here about 8 months ago, I've had a secret hardcore mission to dine at all the (decent) buffets here on this island. Days, weeks, months have gone by & not even one chance to be surrounded by a plethora of food. (I blame it on work, car problems, financial issues.. basically life) Thanksgiving was coming up, & I decided to asked around--well actually, I only had to ask a friend--about any restaurants hosting jawsome buffets on Turkey Day. He taylored swiftly listed a number of places & said his wifey (also my friend) had made reservations at Cafe o'Lei Dunes. (funny thing, we've actually tried to make plans here many times for their Thursday meat special...somehow each attempt has failed lol) Anywayssssss, the night before Thanksgiving, I called up this place & the only reservation I could make was 3pm--which is the time they close up the brunch--which also means the picked over cold abused food is what'll be left for you. And hell nah we ain't gonna pay $35 smacks fo dat shyyyt. I quickly asked my dearest beautiful life saving friend if she could somehow someway extend her party--& a success it was! Not only were we in dah club, but it was the earliest time slot, 1Oam lol. So we get first pickings, brah. Okay, now onto the part that probably only matters to y'all, the food & service. (The 4 stars is solely based on this Thanksgiving Brunch, not regular dining.) The restaurant's atmosphere was casual, simple, & pleasant. There's a neat little pond with koi fishes before you enter. The hostesses greeted us with warmth & a "happy thanksgiving." The dining area was huge. Two of the walls facing north & west had rows of large horizontal windows allowing us to to view the landscape & natural lighting to shine in. The waiter's were respectful, friendly, & more importantly, exuded "aloha." Alright, the food part! Just like any buffet, you grab your plate & start piling as you go down. They had at least 8 hot self serve entrees including mac crusted chicken, shrimp linguini , baked mahi mahi with papaya relish, cauliflower & brussel sprout au gratin, roasted turkey/ham, mashed 'tatoes, rice, peppered pork, baked Okinawan purple potatoes & yam, stuffing, warm bread.... & probably more I'm forgetting. There was a small salad area. Tossed caesar, tossed curry, & an Asian salad. There was a small carving station featuring prime rib with au jus & horseradish dip. The dessert station had a your usual cookies, brownies, berries, & other assorted fruits. They also had a chocolate fondue, an apple cake, & a bigass hot apple dessert thing. Reminds me of an apple crisp/pie thing but blanketed with pyllo dough. Oh oh oh & banana foster! Bananas cooked in brown sugar (& I think flambe' in alcohol?) topped with your choice of vanilla or coffee ice cream. My nana foster had coffee ice cream & I added a big dab of cool whip & drizzled hot chocolate fudge. As a buffet connoisseur or just your stereotypical hungry American, I just about tried erry'thang. 4 heavy plates later, I looked like the Asian Homer Simpson. S'all good though. I was pretty content. The food was most def. ono! To really top this off, my friend's parents paid for us. I seriously did not expect this. We at least offered to cover the tip--but nope, he already covered it. Now that is some hardcore giving that day. & boy were we very thankful. The moral of this story, hit this place up next Thanksgiving & count yo blessins real good! P.S Bring a pillow & a blanket cause you'll probably be in a food coma as you get back in your car.

Went for a family dinner tonight at the Dunes. I had the shrimp linguine and I love it. Service was a bit lacking at times, but it was okay.

This place was busy! I think the staff are trying to do their best to run this restaurant, but the service was rushed and the food too salty. The only good thing I like about this restaurant is their $7 lunch special which changes regularly and they serve it till it runs out. If you're out golfing at the course, this would be a convenient place to go after golfing. Otherwise, I don't recommend this place to people looking for good food and service. There is another Café 'O Lei in Wailuku that I think was a little better, although the service was still lacking there.

Our friends took us here for dinner which is located at a golf course. Was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Braised beef short ribs were the best I've had. This is the second Cafe O'Lei restaurant I've tried and both are great.

I had lunch there yesterday and it was ok. I had the manoa lettuce wraps which are always good, and i usually get the tiger shrimp prawns pasta--but yesterday i had the special which was Ono with a wasabi sauce and it was way too salty. i opted for no rice and just all ceasar salad, and the fish portion was very small. My mom had the steak special and she wasn't of fan of the steak either. my sister and cousin had the crab club--very tasty. and my friend had the bacon brie sandwich which she enjoyed as well. We did sit outside and it was such a beautiful view of the golf course and mountains. the service was great as always, and the melon cooler cocktail was yummy as well. maybe next time i'll just stick to my normal order.

We had cocktails before dinner. They were pretty tasty and definitely strong. Not overpriced, either. Dinner was fresh and delicious, beautifully presented. The pineapple upside down cake for dessert was top notch. Better than my Mom's! (ssshh!!) The service was great and the view from the patio is really lovely. An overall incredible value for food quality and ambiance.

We got into Maui early and wanted to pick up something to eat after the long flight so we came here. We've heard about it a few times and decided to give it a shot. It's a holiday sunday at around noon and of course it's crowded! We only had to wait about 15 mins so it wasnt too bad. I got a cheeseburger and didnt expect a whole lot, but damn, it was slammin! Nice big thick and juicy hamburger that was cooked to perfection. a little darker than pink and a nice thick slice of cheddar cheese and to top it off, it also had grilled/glazed Maui onions! Ono!! The fries were also pretty good. Nice and crispy on the outside. I was looking around at some of the other stuff that people got and everything else looked really good too. might have to go back before we head back to the mainland!

I recently came to Cafe O'Lei for breakfast and lunch. We arrived at the Dunes a little early and had time for breakfast so our foursome sat down for a pre golf meal. Two of us had spam and eggs with rice, one had Portuguese sausage and rice and one had a spam masubi. The waitress was extremely friendly and our meals came with fresh fruit. My spam and eggs was delicious and so was the spam masubi! After our round, we came in for lunch. The place was packed! It was a gorgeous day and the lanai was so busy that we had to sit inside (indoor dining was busy also) but the service was prompt and the food was delicious! I had the macadamia nut crusted chicken on foccocia bread served with a refreshing Cesar salad . My brother in law had a locally grown grass fed bacon cheese burger, my other brother in law had the kalua pork quesadilla and my brother in law's dad had the fish. We were all impressed with our dishes and thought the pricing was very reasonable. In fact, we all came back the last day of our vacation because the Cafe O'lei was on the way to the air port. Our S.O.'s also enjoyed the food here and we plan on coming back next year when we're in Maui again!

Best Prime Rib on the island! Usually served on Friday and Saturday nights. Served with mash potatoes and bread. Highly recommend the macadamia nut chicken sandwich for lunch. Served on focaccia bread and caesar salad.

We ate here as part of our Haleakala tour with Ekahi Tours. Being as such, the food was already pre determined; all we really ordered was the style in which our eggs would be cooked. Our meal came with two eggs any style, hashbrowns, two sausage, two bacon strips, toast and coffee- I think orange juice was available as well, but since our tour started at 2:30am coffee was all we wanted. The group we were in was seated on the patio facing the golf course with a peaceful setting, a plus on a beautiful Maui morning. Breakfast was decent, nothing special sort of like Denny's but I have a feeling it has a lot to do with the fact that we didn't hand select our food. Bottom line: Good Service, Nice setting and decent food. Wouldn't mind an encore.

Everything is great about this place. There's plenty of parking. Due to the fact that it's a golf course restaurant, one would expect crazy prices. This is not the case though. Most menu items for dinner and lunch are right around $12. They have an excellent selection of salads, sandwiches, and fresh fish. I have had the Blackened Mahi as well as their Turkey Sandwich with avocado. Both were amazing, and the service is awesome. Can't wait to go back again.

The Dunes is one of our favorite places for dinner...good food and service and great prices...and less than 10 minutes from home! Have eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner countless times, at least a dozen times, and have had only one bad experience so far...wilted Manoa lettuce and an inch-worm as a bonus...got comped for that dish and a dessert. We've been back many times since and have never had that happen again. The burgers, pasta and fish specials are all great as well as the lettuce wraps and onion soup...and I usually get the sorbet sampler for my sweet tooth...

Crab Artichoke Dip was kinda dry but good, Seafood Pasta was good and tasty. But before we ordered, we asked the waiter if we could order separately, he said oh yes. So after dinner he gave us the check all together. He said just give him the cards and he will bill separate. He came back and billed our cards all wrong. He was frustrated and told us they don't make checks separate so I told him we won't be back or what would be the difference if I sat there, she sat at another table and she sat at another table we'd all be billed differently right? He would have made more tip billing us separately but because he made us wait an extra 20 minutes to correct our bill, we just gave him the suggested tip amount. Dayna should know the F&B service way and coming from Four Seasons too!.... did she not teach her workers well? Service with a YES and a Smile, right? Anyway, the appetizers came and not even half way with the appetizers and our dinner came, like huh? The bathrooms are very clean too, thumbs up for that. We had a family wedding reception there and it is ridiculously priced. You have to rent the banquet room which is $1,500 for 3 hours, then pay for each head $32.00 minimum 50 people then add their banquet captain $200 if over 100 people, $1.95 per person for cake cutting fee, theres more fees if you want a dance floor, podium & mic...like OMG ah, I just don't understand that rent for the banquet room at $1,500.

I know 2 stars seems harsh, but I have my reasons. I used to love this place before it changed ownership and became Cafe O'Lei. I used to order the crabcake sandwich every single time. So when my friends came from Oahu, I was anxious to bring them here. To my surprise, the delicious crabcake sandwich was not on the menu. The waiter came over and I asked him what happened to it. He said, "we never had that here." I said, "yes, you did. I was just here last month and I ordered it." Then he told me that the place changed ownership. As I looked over the menu, nothing was familiar. That was no problem. I would just have to choose something else. I had a chicken sandwich and that was fine. My friends didn't enjoy the place, which made me really sad since I raved and raved about it. Not a good experience. Food was ok, service not so good. Then, I went back. I got a gift card for Xmas so I thought I should use it. The hostess chatted on her phone while my husband and I waited patiently to be seated. This went on for over 5 minutes. Normally, places of business don't allow their workers to talk on their phones, but ok....obviously, this place is different. We get seated and we are approached by our waitress. She was a tall, older lady with a raspy voice. Her clothes had food all over it and the way she talked to us (my husband and I) made us feel like she belonged in a diner somewhere, not at a restaurant with a golf course. She brought us our water and told us the specials. She also mentioned that the fryer was broken and there would be no french fries or anything fried for that matter. She said all sandwiches would be served w/ Caesar Salad. We said ok and she walked away to let us look over the menu. I sat there reading through everything trying to find something I wanted to eat. First off, I am not able to have the Caesar Salad because I'm 6 months pregnant and that's off the list due to the raw egg. This is why I took so long reviewing the menu to make sure the rest of my meal would be good. There's a lot of fish options (and these are all the fish that are on my "do not eat list). The waitress comes over and says very rudely, "oh come on, there's no french fries so your meal is shot?" She said it so loudly that people on the other tables turned to look at us. We ordered lettuce wraps for appetizer, my husband ordered a fish dish and I ordered the mac-nut crusted chicken sandwich. Our lunch items came out before the lettuce wraps. The chicken sandwich was ok and so was the fish plate, but it was really overpriced. The wraps came out and there were bugs and dirt on the lettuce. I guess becuase they were in such a rush, they forgot to wash it. Terrible service! I still have $ leftover on my gift card. I'm planning on giving it away because I do not want to go back.

Went back and took my boyfriend out to lunch. He ordered the tiger shrimp linguine and I ordered the Mac nut crusted chicken sandwich. He loved it. Unfortunately they ran out of the popular French onion soup. We had lunch at 12pm so I would suggest going earlier if you want the soup. We also had the tiramisu for dessert and that was really good too. I don't know what it is about the salad they give with the sandwiches, but I could live on that salad alone. We will be back soon!

I come here because I really enjoy their mahi mahi plate. It's delicious for me. I give them 4 stars because I didn't like much of their other plates. It's still a good place to come and eat with your friends and it's on a golf course in town... So nice views all around in general.

You could call this the flagship restaurant of the island chain. The original Wailuku spot closed years ago. They're also in Kihei, and they run the Makawao Steakhouse. ATMOSPHERE: They're located at The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course. You're greeted by a koi pond that is filthy green. I'm surprised the fish were alive in there. There's an outdoor lanai with gorgeous views of the golf course, and West Maui Mountains. The indoor room is spacious, with a good sized bar and TV tuned to what else, the Golf Channel, and a private room toward the back which can be rented out for parties. There was a small fly problem inside, mainly because they leave the doors leading to the outdoor lanai cracked open. MENU: Apps, salads, burger, sandwiches, and American entrées. FOOD: Onion Soup - Mildly sweet but more savory, which is what I like, and cheesy. It comes with a huge puffed pastry that covers the entire bowl like a lid. Break open a puka and go to town. Cafe O'Lei Crabcakes - I absolutely love crab of all kinds but have never really been a fan of crabcakes, but this is the exception. Two good sized, snow crab-filled cakes with a crispy crust and drizzled with an Italian dressing/mayo mixture. Amazing favors! Highly recommended. Bill Eby Burger - Named after a local rancher. Mainstream cheeseburger with grilled onions, and tasty fries. Good but there's better versions on the rock. Tiger Shrimp Linguine - Being a pasta fanatic, I wanted so much more from this dish. The shrimp and pasta were done nicely but the flavor was so boring - tomato/basil/olive oil. Nothing special. Crab Club - Snow crab salad mix topped with tomatoes, guacamole, alfalfa sprouts, baby greens and bacon on foccacia bread with a side of caesar salad. Taste was okay but the raw onions in the crab mix ruined it for me. The foccacia could've been toasted more. Caesar salad was okay. I ordered a plate of shoestring fries because I can't stand eating a sandwich without them. Macadamia Nut Crusted Chicken - My favorite dish here. 3 super tender breasts breaded with finely chopped mac nuts and bread crumbs, and pan fried in a butter caper sauce with a nice crust, over a small nest of mushroom linguine with a side of sautéed veggies (zucchini, celery, carrots.) Total deliciousness. My only gripe would be for more pasta. Highly recommended! RESERVATIONS: Not recommended as turnover is fairly quick. SERVICE: Staff are friendly and professional. Never encountered any problems. TIP: They offer a daily lunch special but it runs out quick! The special differs by day. OVERALL: Good food and pricing, nice sized portions, good service, and great views from the outdoor lanai.

Came here on Saturday with my mom for a late lunch after work. This is one of those places where we always know we'll get a good meal, good service, and really fantastic prices. I had the crab club, and my mom had the Manoa lettuce wraps. My sandwich was nicely-sized, on focaccia, and quite full of tasty crab meat, thick bacon, flavorful tomatoes, and creamy avocado. Although it was indeed packed to the gills with goodness, it wasn't at all hard to eat. The accompanying Caesar salad was delicious-- perfectly dressed, and came with lots of parmesan. Service was efficient and friendly, and getting a nice, sit-down lunch for two for under twenty bucks is a rare find, which is why we go to Café O'Lei at the Dunes at least once a month. You can't go wrong here-- really!

Do you remember when Dunes opened and they had yummy breakfast? Like the pancakes covered with delicious cream?? Sorry to say, that is gone. When my best friend and her family planned on heading to our island home, Maui, for a vacation, my husband and I planned on meeting them there. We wanted to do brunch and decided to head to the Dunes. I've eaten at Cafe O'Lei in the past for lunch at different locations, but never breakfast and never at the Dunes. The ambiance is great, we sat outside, which is beautifully set facing the West Maui Mountains and the golf course. Food was not impressive at all. The menu is pretty basic. I almost felt like it was a room service menu, nothing special. I got the "Dunes Breakfast" with my eggs over medium, bacon, and fried rice. My eggs were still a little runny, bacon was yumm, fried rice was alright (I didn't even eat it all). My husband got the "Kalua Pork Fried Rice & Eggs" which was also just okay. The fried rice is a little dry and not the best tasting we've had. One of the kiddies had the fluffy pancakes, which it was, but didn't knock our socks off. I guess for the price point, we shouldn't expect a whole lot? Or on the contrary, should it have been even more mind blowing if the food was great and the prices unbelievable? Well, we all felt a little jipped. The service was okay, food was alright, menu could be tweaked. For a golf course restaurant, they shouldn't start skimping on the culinary specialty that I have known Cafe O'Lei to have for lunch and dinner.

Best bang for the buck. Went here and had a family gathering from the Oahu, Maui, and NY family. The food is great and the prices are great and the portions are huge Hawaiian style which I love. It has a beutiful view of the golf course and the mountains. It's a nice place that is away from the hustle and buslte of Maui.

Second visit to enjoy the delish Calamari and sip on lychee martinis... oh ... am i in heaven!? close enough! their ceasar salad is one of the best I have ever had anywhere... their prices are reasonable and their staff is friendly and attentive. their setting is pleasant and comfortable...i will be back for more soon... even before going home to San Francisco! cheers!

Love the food here, great Sunday brunch place....if they don't have a party going on in the other room! The service goes down remarkably.....slow, not attentive, food quality....everything goes down! My advice is to ask when you make a reservation and don't go if there is an event or just go to the Kihei location. It really is a shame the Wailuku location no longer exists.

We ate here after doing a downhill bike ride from Hakalea. The breakfast was included in our bike tour, so I was a little skeptical about what the quality of the food would be like. Well, I have to say, everything was DELICIOUS! Everyone ordered different things off the menu, and no one had a single complaint. If you're into pancakes, this place has some of the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. The view over the golf course was also incredible, and the service was fast and friendly. I would definitely return here on my own accord.

I gave 2 stars because of the consistency of the food and because of location. Other than that, I do not plan on ever giving any more. NOTE: IF YOU PLAN ON HAVING A PARTY W/ MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE, AND STAY IN THE DINING ROOM, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. (Well, unless you don't mind having them sit on separate tables.) I have NEVER been to a more UNACCOMODATING restaurant in my LIFE! Bars have been more accommodating to our big parties. Our party of 16 could have easily fit outside on the lanai. We were even willing to wait until a smaller party of 4 was done so we could have their table. All the mgr needed to do was add 2-3 more tables to the dbl table that was already there. She refused. So much for customer service. FAIL!! On another note, please change up your menu. It's been the same for YEARS!! yes, yes, I do enjoy your crab on focaccia. But I won't be sad if one day it's not on the menu anymore.

What a random place! It's at a golf course overlooking West Maui mountain! It seems to be a popular place for locales to come for a nice meal. We ended up here after our drive around Northwestern Maui and heading back to Ka'anapali. The ambiance is actually better than the Kihei Cafe O'Lei location. If you get to sit outside, you have a nice view of the golf course and West Maui mountain in the distance. The food was fresh and tasty. My husband especially loves Cafe O'Lei's french-style ONION SOUP, made with Maui onions ($6.95). Just the right saltiness and cheesiness. This time he had the CHICKEN CURRY PAPAYA SALAD ($8.95), which was alright but nothing special. I always get the FRESH MAHI OF THE DAY ($11.95) - the fish is so fresh and flaky, with the perfect amount of sauce and a side of veggies. Definitely a good value meal if you're in the area... but I wouldn't drive too far out of your way for it.

Very relaxing and fast service. The waiter staff is tentative and efficient. They kept refilling the ice teas and the mimosa kept coming. The price is reasonable and you can choose to sit insideo or enjoy the Makani.

They accommodated our party of 11 really well. Even when more than half of our party got lost from gps, and another 2 accidentally went to kihei location, they didn't mind that we finally ordered at 715, 15 minutes before they closed. We spent 230 on 11 people, which is roughly 20 a person, so I didn't feel any inflation for being a restaurant on Maui. Most of us had either the smoked ahi or the bill Eby burger and we all raved about it. We left happy and satisfied.

I love the food, the staff and the view! Everything is amazing every time, they may be busy at times and have a little bit of a wait time but that just goes to show how good it is!

Barf. Worst birthday dinner in a loooong time. My companion had a huge hunk of grilled New York strip GRISTLE with a bit of meat attached. I can't believe the chef cooked up a piece of meat knowing that it was all gristle. My husband sawed into the meat with much effort making the table shake; I thought his jaw would lock from the effort of chewing the meat. I had the grilled shrimp which was bland and a waste of ingredients. I hate places where you have to guess what entree might be good and hope you get lucky. We left hungry and disappointed.

The crab club is a staple for lunch. Comes with a side salad and the overall dish is very refreshing. Today, I wanted to try something different and got a macadamia nut crusted chicken linguine. Big mistake and not such a great experience. They served our appetizers in 15 min intervals. We got our calamari-love it and the delicious dipping sauce. 15 minutes later we got our fries. Then another 15 minutes, our entree. It took 45 minutes for 4 dishes to come out. My entree lacked of flavor, the chicken and linguine. The tiger shrimp was too oily and buttery. It's like waiting for a 5 star restaurant for 2 star flavor. If you can get pass the LOOOOONG wait, then I would go again b

Wish I could give 10 stars! Chef quality food at very affordable prices. The atmosphere and view is spectacular. We love to sit on the lanai where it's quiet with the beautiful view. Lychee martinis are excellent. This is our go to place when we have guests and want to go somewhere nice and we can trust that quality of food and service will be excellent. Very nice menu with varied choices and lots of healthy choices. This place is top notch.

First time to Maui, Cafe Olei was highly recommended. We stopped here at the dunes location after our road to hana trip. I was alcohol deprived hahah! We were seated inside, because the afternoon sun wouldve burnt us alive outside. Manu was our server. Super sweet girl, and patient. My husband and i ordered a few apps to start because rushing into entrees. Caesar salad with the seared ahi was amazing. The first dish came out, the fish was well done. Manu, kindly asked if we would still like it and because we love our ahi med rare, we sent it back. She was very accomadating. Didnt seem to be bothered by it. Our other app was the chicken lettuce wraps. Omg, amazing! It was so refreshing with so much flavor! We also got a couple of long island iced teas. Just as good as the ones we have at home. Lol. You wouldnt believe that some places dont make a good long island. I cannot wait to go back!

Just finished one of best meals I have had since moving to Maui to manage Homeworld Furniture in Kahului. Recommended by several work associates, it lived up to everything they said and more. Refreshing change compared to some other recommends I have gotten since I arrived from others. Sat at bar becsuse I was alone. Bartender was proficient and personable without beong overbearing. Very busy due to Christmas party on Sunday night but everything came out in timely manner. Started with their onion soup which is one of the best I have had including the 13 Coins in Seattle and the Cafe Patisserie in Federal Way Wa from years ago. Not too salty as some onion soup can be plus it had a wonderfully delicate puff pastry topping and just right amount of cheese. Paired the meal with a very good Castle Rock Pinot Noir. Went well with the NY strip steak I ordered. Steak prepared perfectly with seasoned herb butter. No need for steak sauce here. White rice was a little overcooked and would have enjoyed a lightly seasoned rice medley instead. It was served with a fresh sprig of thyme which was a nice flavorful addition to munch on with carrot bell pepper veggie medley. Watching the Seahawks dominate and humiliate the Arizona Cardinals was just the added topping to a great meal. Finished with the best tirimisu I have had in a very long time. Light freshly made with just the right hint of coffee served with a swirl of dark chocolate. Not overly soggy like some tirimisu can be. A definite recommend. Looking forward to rying their breakfast. Decor has patio seating. Otherwise, ambience is nothing extroadinary but the star here is the food.

It's no secret that I love Cafe O'Lei's, so naturally I love this location too! But in some way it is better than it's Kihei counterpart... A couple things that make it a smidge bettah: 1)The view! Sit outside for lunch, enjoy a view of the golf course, and the Iao Valley. 2) LUNCH SPECIALS!!! They actually have a plate lunch special of the day, at a VERY reasonable price. But it is first come first serve, so once it is gone, it's gone. I never seem to make it early enough to cash in on some ono eats for cheap prices. 3) Location. Close to work, so when someone is in for business purposes that are from the mainland, this is my little slice of heaven that I invite them to. Works like a charm.

Great Top Shelf Mai Tais. The French onions soup had a flaky crust that was delicious. The Blackened Mahi-Mahi was very good. The atmosphere is great nice blend of tourist and locals and the view is inspiring!

At the recommendation of a customer, I had lunch out on the terrace of Cafe O'lei. What a fantastic lunch! Beautiful setting overlooking the golf course, friendly service, and an ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE lunch at a reasonable price. Macadamia Nut encrusted Mahi Mahi including a side Caesar Salad. All these years of traveling to Maui on business, I've missed this gem. It will be a regular stop for now on.

Well, I made the mistake of giving this place one more try because i like the family who owns it. Sadly, it has gone even further downhill. I sure hope the Pastula's get a new manager there to bring back the quality that was once there. Its obvious that whoever the manager is, just doesn't care. We invited some friends for dinner. I ordered the fresh fish special, which was Ono. When it came, the fish was so overcooked that it was nothing more than a hard inedible brick. Come on guys! We're in Hawaii. Every restaurant should know how to cook fish. Further, the sauce was bland and tasteless. When the server came and asked what was wrong, I told her the fish wasn't even close to being cooked correctly. Even though I didn't ask, she said she would take it off my check. WhenI finally got the check, they had forgotten to take the $21.99 off for my entree, but at that point I was too disgusted to to do anything more than just pay for something that was inedible and get out of there. Unless things change, this will be our last trip there. So sad.

My girlfriends and I get together for lunch every couple of months. We selected Cafe O'Lei at The Dunes this time. We thought it would be nice since their menu has a large selection of choices and the restaurant sits on a golf course with pretty views. Unfortunately the food was awful. One of my friends ordered a salad, and more than halfway through eating it, she found a very large bug in her dish. My other friend ordered the "plate lunch" special of the day - stir fried beef with peppers which consisted of chunks of fat and gristle. I asked for my chili sauce (for chicken) to be served on the side but it was poured all over the rice and chicken. We brought all of these issues up with a staff member who said she would inform her manager. They ended up taking off the bug salad from the check, but the manager never approached our table to discuss our terrible meals. Never again, and shame on you Cafe O'Lei.

Sunday breakfast is awesome. The portions are large and it's just what you expect. The French toast is light and fluffy. Bacon is crisp. Nothing fancy, just good food. Plus the view is awesome.

The only reason I like coming here is because they have the best crab cakes I've tasted, so far. Also, because their prices are inexpensive. I love, love their salad! If you come early you get to try their plate lunch special of the day, which most of the time, is really good! And cheap too.

So glad Da Kitchen was closed on Sunday or I never would have discovered this amazing place! I went for lunch before my flight back home to Honolulu and I have to say that I'm still craving that Onion soup and MahiMahi plate! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Come to think of it...I was sad because I couldn't finish all my food! The portions are generous. The place got crowded quickly and the great part is that 1/2 or more were locals so you know it's a good spot! Next time a friend visits Maui this will definitely be on my list of recommendations.

Had a recent business trip to Maui, and we had a rather large group for lunch. I didn't have high expectations. We were seated on the patio with a nice view of the golf course. We let the waitress know that we needed separate checks. She was SUPER nice about it. (Just know that they'll include the gratuity. I'm not sure if that was because we were a large party or because of the separate checks.) Everyone ordered something different. There wasn't a bad or marginal dish at our table. I had the stuffed papaya salad. It was perfect for lunch and very reasonably priced.

The food here is just ok, the views and location are beautiful, the service is terrible. I've been here on several occasions and did not have high expectations for this location. The final straw was when the server was rude to my 86 year old grandmother. I will not patronize this restaurant again nor will I recommend it. The Kihei location has never disappointed, if you're considering a Cafe O'Lei restaurant, try Kihei.

Service sucks. We ordered as soon as we sat down. A party of 6 comes in 10 minutes later, fast forward half an hour and they get served before us! Never even met our server, had to give our order to whoever we flagged down. Just terrible!

  • Briana O.

Best place we could find that was close to the airport. We had a party of 7 and the food was good, much better than take out! The options were Hawaiian mixed with normal American cuisine. The blackened mahi mahi and crab cakes were awesome!! The view was really great from our table, looking out on the golf course and a mountain in the background. I'd go there again!

The food was very good. I had a Crab BLT, comes with a side of Caesar salad. It was very flavorful. The service although friendly was a bit slow. They came by and asked about refills for our drinks but the food was not served for almost 45 minutes. It's Maui...and Sunday, so maybe another day it wouldn't be so slow...But I would go back. The food was good and the price was right.

Well this was disappointing... I have been hosting dinner meetings for 4 years now at all types of restaurants, with all types of experiences & outcomes, both good and bad. I must say though that this was the first time that I have ever been taken advantage of by a restaurant owner and manager. I needed a venue in Kahului for 20-25 guests. I chose this restaurant because I have been here several times before, both for work and pleasure, enjoyed their food, and wanted to give them some more business. Last time I had a meeting in Maui, we went to Bistro Casanova and had a great experience! Highly recommended! This time, I decided to try something new, but wish I had not. When I first called, Marcie was extremely accommodating. I explained exactly what I was looking for, the time/date of the meeting, the number of guests I was expecting, the menu that I had in mind, and my maximum all inclusive budget of $75/person. She assured me that they would definitely be able to work with me and my budget, reserved their banquet room for me, then helped me create a menu for that night. Everything was confirmed and I was satisfied. A couple weeks later, I called them again just to confirm that we were still all set, and told them that I was printing invitations and inviting guests. Once again, they assured me that I was confirmed in their banquet room, and gave me the green light to invite my guests. After this conversation, I did not call them or hear from them again. They never called or emailed me, and I assumed we were 110% confirmed based on our last two conversations. Fast forward to the day of the dinner meeting... I called them when they opened that morning to confirm my reservation for that night, and to make sure they had everything they needed from me. They responded with, "What meeting?", "Did you make a reservation?", "Are you sure it was at this location?". I finally got Marcie on the phone and she impatiently said, "we didn't hear from you so we assumed you were not coming". I was very surprised and disappointed, and insisted that the meeting must go on because I had 20+ confirmed guests. They agreed to still host the meeting, but would no longer honor our original agreement, menu, and prices. They knew that I was desperate and out of options, and took full advantage of that fact. They almost doubled my per person cost for the same exact menu as before, added a $300 room fee that they are supposed to waive if you meet their f&b minimum of $1500 for the room (which I did), tried to make me pay $300 for two servers (1-25 guests requires 1 server per our original conversation), and would not allow me to add wine towards my food & "BEVERAGE" minimum. When everything was said and done, the total came out to over $100/person. This only included a salad, main course, dessert, tax, gratuity, and fees! No appetizers and no wine were included. They even added gratuity on the food tax. After 4 years, this was by far the worst experience I have ever had, and the most expensive meeting I have ever hosted. For this price, we could have had our pick of several much nicer restaurants on Maui, and would have had a more complete menu including wine. When I met Marcie in person, I asked her why she wouldn't just call me if there were any issues or doubts about my reservation. In the most condescending tone I think I have ever heard, Marcie responded with, "Well we get more than 30 calls a day from people who want to make reservations here, so its not our responsibility to call you." I reminded her that this wasn't just any reservation, that last time we spoke everything was confirmed, and that it is in fact her job to call me. She still disagreed. She seemed to enjoy the stress that she caused me. When I told her that they went WAY over my budget, she said, "Im sooooorrrrrrry, but there is nothing I can do." Her tone was sarcastic and she had this kind of satisfied grin. I am done with this place, and every other restaurant they are affiliated with. I don't understand why they would throw away years of consistent future business and positive word of mouth, for one night of high profits. Its a shame because they do have great food, and I used to really enjoy this place! If anybody would like more details, please send me a message.

The 2 star review is for the following: 1.) waited 10 minutes before a server noticed me 2.) waited another 15 minutes with no water as she forgot to bring it to me and had to be reminded when the food came 3.) ordered the $7 fruit plate which was 4 small slices of melon, 4 small slices of pineapple and a clump of grapes with a little canister of yoplait yogurt. Other diners had strawberries on theirs also, mine did not. (Maybe they ran out , who knows) 4.) Also got the breakfast sandwich. Very high amount of bread to bread contact, dead area without filling. It does have a great view though. I don't think I'll come back.

The service or should I say lack of service was appalling! I've been here many times and have never been mistreated like this before. We had to ask the busser if we could order, then a few minutes later the hostess came to take it. The first time we saw our "server" was when she brought us the bill! What a disappointment!!

GREAT PLACE TO STOP FOR LUNCH OVERLOOKING THE GOLF COURSE. Is this one of the places I'm not supposed to yelp? I asked a few of my yelp friends "hey, where should I eat on Maui?" and five of them said "Cafe O'Lei" BUT NONE OF THEM REVIEWED THIS PLACE YET. So of course I had no clue what to order. Scrolling through the existing reviews didn't help me either because everyone liked different things. That was my first clue. Everything must be pretty good. MAKE RESERVATIONS. It gets busy! KIDS MENU $4.95 (12&under, add $5 more if you are over 12 and want the kids menu. Really.) Choose: Crispy chicken, turkey sandwich, cheeseburger, grilled cheese, all come with fries, or chicken Caesar salad. VERDICT: kids want to come back soon Kalua pork quesadilla $6.95 Juicy, full flavored, and dripping with deliciousness, this dish can't be beat for $6.95. It was excellent. Cafe O'Lei crabcakes $7.95 2 crispy snowcrab cakes with a sweet chili aioli and mango coulis hit the spot. If you like crabcakes, these are pretty good. Caesar salad $6.95 I added the blackened mahi which made it $14.95 but I recommend just getting the salad by itself (or with the sandwiches). They use a home made Caesar dressing that I really enjoyed. The blackened mahi was thin and tough, next time I'll try it w/chicken. Crab club $9.95 This sandwich is huge and comes with the above mentioned delicious Caesar salad. Can't go wrong with this! I'm glad all of you recommended this place, it was perfect for us! The affordable prices (compared to the resorts), great views, good food, free parking, and kids menu made this one of our favorite places! Thank you for sending me here! (The flies also loved the food, which was slightly annoying, but can't be helped when you sit in this indoor/outdoor cafe.)

Tropical fruit and yogurt. Hmm...Yoplait and an uninspiring plate of fruit I can order at any restaurant back home. No spoons!! I guess I'll use my fork?!? The H2O is amazing! Service is talking behind the bar or prepping napkins. With all the hidden gems on the island, skip this apathetic joint.

The great service and price made this place 5 stars. We went later in the afternoon for lunch. We chose to eat outside because, well, Maui, duh. And it has an awesome view of the golf course and the West Maui mountains. And plus we felt a little out of place with all of our kids, being outside kind of separated us from the rest of the crowd. We opened the menu and were delighted to see the prices! We ended up ordering drinks for 7, 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 salads, 1 sandwich, 1 kids meal, and 4 desserts, for a grand total of $176 including the automatic gratuity or "service charge". Not too shabby in my book! The food was great. I chose this place because I wanted crab cakes and they did not disappoint. The sauces complimented the cakes very nicely, it was a sweet chili and also a mango sauce. The Manoa lettuce wraps was also a good appetizer. I liked them because of the peanut-like sauce. (As I have said in other reviews) my stepdaughter is on a quest to find the best Caesar salads. She ordered one here with the blackened mahi. She said this Caesar salad was the number one on her ultimate list. I ordered the macadamia nut crusted chicken and thought it was very good. It was a generous amount with 3 pieces of chicken. However, I was not a fan of the linguine that came with it. My husband ordered the special (if you see my other reviews, he does this quite often) which was mahi in a lemon caper butter sauce (the same as my chicken). In my husband's words, the fish was moist and very flavorful. For dessert we ordered the white chocolate cheesecake (I think), the brownie, tiramisu, and the pineapple upside down cake. All of them were excellent but the pineapple upside down cake was my favorite. Our server was Celeste and she was great. Once she found out we were from out of town she started asking a lot of questions and told us about the restaurant and the ones affiliated with it. She asked us how we heard about the restaurant and I answered "through Yelp."

This place has a spectacular view of the West Maui mountains and the golf course. Very nice place to have a good meal, and their lunch salad is the best! Their salad dressing is the tastiest and most delicious I've had! Wish they would bottle it and sell it. I once bought a cup of it for 5 bucks from the old Wailuku location, but it didn't keep well in a styrofoam cup, :-( As for the food, breakfast and lunch is super ono and super affordable. They have a lunch special for $6.95 or $7.95, and it usually fills me up. I've enjoyed the loco moco and hamburger as well; both very delicious. The steak is pretty good too, but kind of expensive compared to the oriental seasoned steak the Wailuku restaurant used to serve for $8.95. Wish they would bring that to this location! Owners, are you reading this??? The place gets kind of busy for breakfast and lunch, so you should call ahead or maybe make reservations. The only downfall there is the service, thus the 3 stars. Getting a refill on water and coffee is hit and miss...mostly miss. The servers, although friendly, really should work as a team and take turns checking on drinks and other things. When I was a server, we always checked on each others tables and was never competitive about tips. Or do these servers split tips, which is why nobody really checks on their guests? Anywho, food here rocks, but service, not so much.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here a year ago, and our guests that evening enjoyed the food and the ambiance a whole lot. I know the food was good but because things were pretty busy at that time, I didn't get a chance to truly enjoy it. Fast forward a year and we are back in Maui, decided to have dinner at Cafe O Lei at the Dunes. Very happy to say we enjoyed our food, and the service, and the ambiance all over again. The calamari was good, and the mahimahi I got was delicious. For the party of five , we paid a reasonable amount, considering we had appetizers and drinks. I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for fine dining without spending all your vacation money. In fact I like this place better than another known fish place on the other side of the island. But you be the judge for yourself... Check it out when in Maui.

The hostess was not too attentive, very laid back. The food came out cold and it was super hot!! The place had no ac. Although, there is a lot of potential and it was my first time there, I could have just been off my game. The service once inside was ok, very local.

I recently had a very disappointing experience here. As a frequent customer, I have a few favorites on the menu, namely the fish special. My boyfriend and I ordered one each. The waitress told us that the fish would come with Caesar salad and paea rice. Everything tasted great an our waitress was very attentive. As we were finishing up, my boyfriend found a full sized chicken drumstick underneath his fish. After we told the waitress that we were a little freaked out because we don't eat chicken, she rushed back to the kitchen to investigate. When she returned, she told us that the paea rice was cooked with chicken and calamari and all types of things and that must be where the drumstick came from. We tried to explain that the chicken has been under the fish, not in the rice and that if we had known that the rice contained chicken we wouldn't have ordered it. She again just said that's how the rice is prepared and finished clearing our plates. Shortly after, the manager arrived and explained that it was her fault, and that she had told the servers that the rice would be saffron rice, not paea which was obviously a fib seeing that the waitress had described the special correctly with paea and had just left out the chicken part. No where in this correspondence was there ever a simple "sorry" which would have remedied most of the situation anyway. Very disappointing.

This is for breakfast review only! Light breakfast before 10:30am =(. Very limit items on menu. I ordered the fried rice and it wasn't all the great. Tried another dish and best thing on that plate was the Portuguese sausage. Need to come back to try their dinner.

One key component: EXPECTATIONS!!! For those expecting a 5 star restaurant at 2 star prices - well, you have been gruesomely misguided and I can't imagine a world in which this is accurate. For those expecting a good meal that is reflective (or exceeding expectations therein) of the price, then this is a good, viable option in Kahului. Whether going to the airport or running errands in Kahului, this is a good alternative to the plethora of restaurants in Central Maui.

My daughter wanted to celebrate her preschool graduation here. Dinner started out well, apps and drinks came out in a timely manner. Kids' meals, chicken tenders and burger came out soon after. Chicken tenders were great but the burger was a little dry. Would also recommend using a kids sized bun to go with the kids burger. Everything went south from there. The adult entrées, New York steak and quesadia, came out 35 min later. Our waiter did not check on us and the manager was nowhere to be found. 3 other tables came in the same time as us and received their food before we did. When dinner came out the quesadia was soft, medium rare was medium and the rice had that heat lamp crust. Obviously the food was sitting on the expeditor station for a while. Usually don't say anything but I was going to when out waiter did his first bite check. Unfortunately that never happened. We were left alone to finish up our meal. Usually a good

I thought this was a restaurant. Its actually the restaurant in a golf course (The dunes is my guess) My co-workers took me here for take out during lunch. They have one special every weekday for takeout for around $7.00 which is really cheap for Maui. The day that I went they had bbq pulled pork with two scoops rice and a good Caesar salad. Everything was good and since it was on special it was cheap too. My review is only for the special on the day that I went.

Perfect spot when you need authentic and good food, great parking, easy in and out. Carmen was our waitress and she was delightful - gave me all these tips on where to take my kids (Lavender Farm, etc) to stay away from the big crowds. She really was a sweetheart and I bet I would call and ask for her and have her be my concierge later in my trip. I have the tempura shrimp salad - yum.

The food was good but the service was terrible it took them over 30min to bring out our apps they never came to refill our water or teas they checked on us to see if everthing was ok. The 2 stars was for the food. 0 stars for the service:(

A little over rated, very casual and cheap. Food is ok if you ate looking for a quick bite to eat. I stop before going to the airport, it is about 10 min away.

I had seen this place on my Yelp while looking for lunch, but it didn't seem like a good idea -- on a golf course? Probably overpriced. Well a business acquaintance suggested it, and so we went. And I was very very impressed. Sit outside - you'll get a lovely view of the golf course, with mountains as your backdrop. Service was excellent and the servers were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, although sometimes they were a bit slow (only at the end though, when it came to taking our cards and giving them back). The food, delicious, and for the price, specially on Maui, I would say awesome! I paid $15 for the day's fish special, tip included. They also have a lunch special that goes for something like $8, although those run out very fast. I really wish I had come here instead of some of the places I spent way too much money on!

Ono food, unpretentious ambiance and a good price point. The location in kihei is a few dollars more and long wait plus over crowded tables. This one has a calm view of the golf course and a menu catered to the locals.

This is a great place to meet friends & family for a great lunch. Food was amazing (and filling!) - I had the macadamia nut crusted chicken with pasta. Cafe O'Lei is moderately priced, and for the location and quality of food it is a place I plan on frequenting when I am on Maui.

I took my family (husband and daughter) here after having a girl's luncheon the month before and everything was excellent! Excited for my little family to share my excitement, I was very disappointed witht the whole experience! We were seated right away (we chose indoor seating) and noticed it was not all that busy. Only 3 other parties besides us. We waited 30 minutes for I ur drinks to arrive, and than another 20 minutes to finally put in our order!! By the time our appetizers came 3 other parties are seated next to our table. After our appetizers we are now sitting there waiting for our meal! I notice the table next to us already had their appetizers and were now being served their main course. My daughter is starting to get fussy because she's hungry and I'm holding on to my patience! I get up and look for our waitress and ask her politely how much longer? Front Manager over hears my question and asks the waitress if we've been waiting long. Waitress response, "Yea aunty they been waiting long time already!" Front Manager dissappears into kitchen and waitress goes back to doing what she was doing, no apologies, nothing. I go back and sit down and 2 minutes later the FM comes with our food. My husband's steak is burnt, and the mahimahi i ordered is dry and overcooked, my daughters french fries are mushy! Gross!! We got up paid our tab and left to Jack in The Box! Disappointed in the service and the food! I don't think we'll be dining here any time soon! Called the next day to make a complaint so this can be fixed, got transferred every where and spoke to no one!

Third or fourth time here today, & this time was the worse service I've ever got! They seemed short on staff, putting a lot of pressure on the few waitresses that were there. With them being unable to attend to our party often! We waited at least 10 minutes after being seated, before we even got our waters & that was the first time we were checked on. By that time we already knew what we wanted to eat. The entire time we were waiting after being seated, there was a bartender behind the counter staring out into space looking bored & didn't approach us at all. I'm thinking ok maybe not his position to do so. But when a party of four white people walk in & got seated after us, & the bartender approached THEM to get their waters since they were unattended (not as long as we were unattended after being seated), that's when I got mad. That same party also ordered after us & got served before us. Waitresses there are too kick back! I'm Hawaiian & from here, I understand Hawaii is different. But in this case I have to disagree! Don't use slang, or minor swearing (shit, frick etc etc etc), or pidgin just because I have brown skin! I expect professional service, I'm not being served by my "sister". They should really act & service their customers more like what the Restraunt looks like, from inside out! Professional, classy, a scale up! The place is nice but the waitresses act & speak like they belong working at Da Kitchen Restraunt or L&L. Oh, & one last thing... A lady who was helping to extend another table of a big party (not a customer, I'm positive it was a worker), was dragging a chair to that table & totally banged my moms chair with my mom sitting in it! She just should've been paying more attention! Ugh most annoying place ever! I'm never going back

Café O'le is an absolutely AMAZING combination of quality food and amazing venue. The venue is located on a golf course resort; there is a beautiful bridge across a koi pond to the entrance. You can sit inside or outside in their covered patio area overlooking the golf course pond and dunes. You might expect to pay a premium for such a nice view and location, but you will be pleasantly SURPRISED that the food is amazingly inexpensive with GENEROUS portions. I had the lunch special MAHI MAHI sautéed with sides of rice and salad for only $11.95. The fish was soft and flakey and extremely flavorful. The casesar salad was excellent and had a delicious garlic taste added to it. I also had the FRENCH ONION soup which was amazing and came with a pastry over the top of it which you eat with the soup. I also had the crab bacon SANDWICH which was only $9.95, but it was very large and came with sides of fries and salad. For dessert, the upsidedown PINEAPPLE CAKE was delicious! And only $5.95. Also the staff is extremely helpful and pleasant and there is no pretentious feeling whatsoever. Dress is casual - i just came from the beach in board shorts and sandals. Overall, I was so impressed with this restaurant that I felt the need to write a review. I went to several other restaurants in Hawaii during my stay but they could not even compare to the quality/portions of food, price, and amazing venue.

Got to eat here as an extra plus after our bike adventure down Haleakala. They gave us the two best tables in the house, right outside overlooking the beautiful mountains. I WAS TAKEN AWAY by the sight. While the food was pretty normal, with that view it was the most memorable breakfast of the trip!

Impressed with this little cafe. We were on our way to Costco before going to the airport, and we wanted to stop off and eat breakfast/brunch before our flight. We found this place on Yelp (no surprise there), but I was a little worried because it didn't have very many reviews. When we arrived, we were seated outside on the patio overlooking the golf course and mountains in the background. No complaints there! There weren't many options to choose from for breakfast, but my BF and I both decided on the kalua pork fried rice and eggs. I was amazed at how delicious we both thought it was. The portion size was more than enough...I tried hard to finish mine but the rice overwhelmed me. The dish offers an ample portion of kalua pork, and our eggs (mine- scrambled and his- over medium) were cooked to our satisfaction. I don't know what seemed so special about the dish, but we were both very happy with our choice. It was the most expensive item on the menu, but at $7.95 a piece, that's totally reasonable for Maui prices (on a golf course, too!!). I was so content with our last meal in Maui that once we got back to Seattle I was on a fried rice kick for at least two weeks! From glancing at the lunch and dinner menus, it looked like they had more of a variety, including some fresh fish "catch of the day" options. I'll definitely plan on going back and trying them out on our way to/from the airport the next time we're in Maui.

So sad.

The only reason I like coming here is because they have the best crab cakes I've tasted, so far. Also, because their prices are inexpensive. I love, love their salad! If you come early you get to try their plate lunch special of the day, which most of the time, is really good! And cheap too.

Food out cold. We ordered three rib eyes and one cup of onion soup. The steaks must have been sitting for fifteen minutes as they were cold at the table, waiting on the hottest soup I have ever eaten. All in all so-so

Our friends took us here for dinner which is located at a golf course. Was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Braised beef short ribs were the best I've had. This is the second Cafe O'Lei restaurant I've tried and both are great.

The food was delicious as usual but the service not so great. We had a late lunch of 8 people and we just felt like we were an inconvenience. 4 for food and 2.5 for service. I recommend the one in kihei.

Received our checks but it took the waiter awhile to return and pick them up. Other parties that arrived after us recieved their checks and were cashed out before us. Other than that the food was good at a reasonable price.

This is where locals eat. I know because our Maui friends take us there every time. Prices are about half what you pay everywhere else.

This is a great place to meet friends & family for a great lunch. Food was amazing (and filling!) - I had the macadamia nut crusted chicken with pasta. Cafe O'Lei is moderately priced, and for the location and quality of food it is a place I plan on frequenting when I am on Maui.

This place was busy! I think the staff are trying to do their best to run this restaurant, but the service was rushed and the food too salty. The only good thing I like about this restaurant is their $7 lunch special which changes regularly and they serve it till it runs out. If you're out golfing at the course, this would be a convenient place to go after golfing. Otherwise, I don't recommend this place to people looking for good food and service. There is another Café 'O Lei in Wailuku that I think was a little better, although the service was still lacking there.

The food is great. The prices won't break your wallet. Can't ask for a better view of west Maui mountains and 1st and 18th fairways.

Stopped here because of all the great reviews. It was just ok. Nothing that stood out for me. Lettuce wraps were decent as was the shrimp papaya salad.
