Definitely the best of the Maui locations. Although this is located in the food court of Maui Marketplace, don't mistake the size of the location for being small on flavor when it comes to their food. Pho is always boiling hot and crispy noodles on point but my favorite are the sandwiches! They make the bread fresh here and provide it for other locations. You can tell by how crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside the baguette is that they make these suckers fresh. If you're a fan of the Lees sandwiches on the mainland - you understand the need for a special kind of crunchy chewiness that goes with your filling. They are very generous with the pickled veggies and jalapeños on request. But the only thing they don't have for their accoutrements that go with the soups - cilantro or Chinese parsley. I know wtf? But the basil is fresh and their bean sprouts are always crunchy and fresh - no gross slimy brown "tails" here. Be sure to order boba to go with your sandwich - make it complete :)

Lady in the front seems friendly. The location is in a food court. If you want something else, there are plenty of choices around. Food: 0/5 Service: 2/5 Cleanliness: 1/5 Experience: 0/5 Pricing: 1/5 We ordered the rare steak pho, egg rolls, and coconut tapioca. The rare steak was on the well done side. The rice noodle fair, but the broth was not broth. It was more on the side of salt water. The egg rolls were on the burnt side. Perhaps being California and surrounded by decent pho places has spoiled me, but please give Maui better pho. I wanted to give 0 stars, but they deserve at least 1 star because I am at fault to go to a Vietnamese sandwich place wishing for good pho.

Fantastic lemon grass chicken sandwich. I will try more on this menu. Cashiers were a little slow with "understanding" what people were ordering. Overall a good experience.

The sandwiches are great, as well as everything else on the menu. FANTASTIC boba pearl drinks.

The chicken fried rice was really good, greasy, but good. The lemon grass chicken tasted just like mom's and I subbed the noodles with it which paired perfectly with the nuoc mam sauce. Overall, it wasn't bad for a quick bite to eat. I would eat here again.

The best pho I have ever had.... The service was a bit slow because I had to wait 30 minutes for a plate of meat and a bowl of pho

Had pho here. Quite good. 11 dollars with nice portion. The taste is very origin. Didn't try the sandwiches.

Rude grandmother. Poor food quality. Stop here if you need a quick Vietnamese fix only if you are passing through town. You should try a mix of other stores in that location.

Ba-Le makes one of the better banh mi I've had, and they're perfect for a long airplane ride. The lemongrass chicken banh mi has a light curry sauce, which makes it a little different and saucier than most. I could use some more pickled veggies and less airy bread, but it's a good sandwich all the way around. Where to find it? It's tucked away in the Food Court in the back corner of the strip mall. You won't see any signs from the outside, but the pin is spot on in the Yelp map.

I normally pack a lunch, but when I don't chances are, you'll find me here. Love coming in for just some fresh spring rolls if I am in the mood for something cold and light, they have shrimp or tofu for you veg heads. They also have two delicious vegan sandwiches... A roasted eggplant, and a mock chicken lemongrass. Both are prepared on a fresh baked french loaf, and for around $7!

UGH! This is what I get for being desperate for some Pho. I really had a craving and decided to go to Bale for some pho. Wrong. It was flavorless and unpalatable. The tapioca dessert was ok but still bland. I don't know why this Ba-Le sucks so much because the ones I've tried in Honolulu are halfway decent. This place isn't worth the time and money.

I ordered Banh mi special sandwich. It was ok. The bread was a bit hard for me. The spam fried rice was good though. The portions were good for 2.

We found this place by accident as we were on our way to the airport and had about 30min to get lunch from somewhere. Drove past it and made a circle back as I noticed this little food court. Went in originally to get some Hawaiian bbq before leaving the island, but noticed this place has some Bahn Mi and Pho. Was going to try the pho, but the one I wanted was like $12, which is about twice is much as what I would pay here in TX. Decided to just get the Bahn Mi pork, which is around $6 (also twice as much here in Tx). Oh well, that's the price in Hawaii, right? As for taste, it was overcharged and not worth it. Usually on a Bahn Mi, the most important is to have fresh bread and freshly prepared veges so that they are still crunchy. Well, that was not the case here. Only thing I recall was that they have put little too much of that Pork liver paste that they usually smeared on it, in addition to some mayo. The flavor of that liver sort of overpower the rest of the sandwhich. If it was really good, I was going to buy 2 more and eat it later on the airplane. The 2 stars was simply for their lack of flavor and lack of service. We were there @ noon, so non of the shared (yes, you have share your long table swith others) tables were available and we had to wait for about 5min until we can get some open spaces. Again, this is in a small food court that shares with 3 or 4 other small eateries.

I didn't like their banh mi as the meat isn't very juicy. However, their other dishes is pretty good. I especially love their fried rice with shrimps and spam. So good that we came back and I order another one to go.

Quality has gone downhill. We used to enjoy their Pho, but we just had some today... sad to say, the broth was very watery and not tasty.

Consistently good food over the last 10 years I have been eating there. Fresh ingredients and fresh baked breads, huge variety of foods, pho, BBQ, and of course the delicious sandwiches. Also a great selection of drinks and deserts. One of my favorite eateries on Maui. If you don't like Bale's, you have a narrow taste in food and should stick with balogne on white bread. PS - The rude grandma is part of the charm, flow with it...

So far I've just had the chicken Bahn mi, it's pretty good , with fresh authentic roll, a slightly curried lemongrass chicken with pickled daikon and carrot and cilantro . It could use some fresh chili pepper but chili sauce is available and for $6.50 its a meal in a sandwich

The women at the counter are so unfriendly that it's almost funny. They do not greet you and they NEVER say thank you. Why do I continue to go there? The avocado sandwich is amazing. The French baguettes are wonderful. I do go to the Wailuku store instead whenever it's convenient.

Fast, cheap and decent. Ba-Le on Big Island had the best BBQ chicken "bun". We loved how they put bits and pieces of lemongrass in it, making it amazingly flavorful. Ba-Le on Maui isn't bad, either. Not as super as the one on Big Island, but good enough for a fast-food establishment. Anyway, the chicken bun had so much chicken, I thought my husband had secretly ordered it "double" meat. (He hadn't.) The noodles were a bit coarse, but still, it was a satisfying lunch. I had their chicken BANH MI (Vietnamese sandwich) once, too, and it was also satisfying. The bread was chewy and yummy. Lastly, the chicken salad was huge, just like the bun, and unexpectedly fresh for a fast-food joint. SUM: There are 25 Ba-Le shops in Hawaii. Wish the 26th could be in the Bay Area.

$5.50 baguette sandwiches are delicious! We stopped by twice for sandwiches to go, on the way to Hana and then to the airport. Made for a delicious picnic meal on the road to Hana! Baguettes themselves are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. We tried the Lemongrass chicken, Ham, and the Pork. All were good! Speedy prep - wait for our food was no more than 3 minutes each time. Hidden inside the food court next to Sports Authority.

One of my favorite take out places to go. Love the food and the soups here. Pho what? Das right! Plates are large and filling.

Add another Vietnamese restaurant to Maui's saturated scenery. ATMOSPHERE: Mall food court with indoor & outdoor seating. FOOD: Crispy Noodle w/ Seafood - This is a big enough portion for two. Its a mixture of rubbery calamari, broccoli, carrots and won bok in a light brown gravy sauce over deep fried crispy noodles. Goes excellent with rice. BBQ Chicken - One of my fave dishes here. Super tender boneless and skinless thighs cooked to perfection with a very good flavor. Comes with rice and potato mac salad, the latter of which is too tart for my liking. Garlic Shrimp - Very tasty, almost over-powered with garlic, but that's the point! Comes over a bed of rice noodles which have zero flavor. Chicken Pho - I'm a noodle fan but don't care for the slightly sweet broth. Comes with fresh mint leaves and bean sprouts for toppings. Tapioca - Very good. Several different flavors. I like the vanilla & taro ones best. Fried Won Ton - They're not just won ton chips but are stuffed with seasoned ground pork and deep fried. It tastes exactly like a deep fried local-style pork hash. Delish! SERVICE: Friendly for the most part. On one occasion, they didn't put the summer rolls I ordered in the bag. When I got home, I noticed it and had to drive back. Instead of an apology, all I got was an excuse that "people usually take it from the counter display." How am I supposed to know that? Tell me next time!? OVERALL: They have a sister restaurant in Wailuku which seems to have better tasting food and better service.

When you need a quick meal with Asian flavors and Vietnamese sandwiches, this is the place to go. They also have various cups of tapioca with different flavors. And flan, and crispy spring rolls, and fried won ton appetizers.

I gave up on reviews for a long time. I'm in a generous mood... or maybe I'm just hungry. I'm ridiculously judgmental when it comes to Vietnamese restaurant food. This Ba Le not only makes the best Vietnamese baguettes I've found on the islands, but it's better than any baguette shop I've found in San Francisco. And yes, even better than the other Ba Le's I tried on Maui. Why? Better quality ingredients, better ratio, overall better taste -- not the price. Yeah, continental price for equivalent sammich: $3.00. BUT, still (sadly) the best food I found while in Maui for a week. I have no idea about their mixed plates. This is just for their baguettes. The 5 stars is relative compared to everything is I had in Maui. I'd give it a real 5 stars if they served real baguettes and not fat hoagie rolls, but beggars can't be choosers...
