Yummy's is probably the most well known Korean BBQ joint we have on the island. Its pretty good for what most of the plates are priced at. Usually you can get a combination of two dishes, or a single selection. Or even try the special which includes most of the meat dishes they offer. I think Yummy's can be considered similar to L&L but healthier. When i go to this chain restaurant I'm straight Fish JUNING it. I know all its basically is, is fried fish. Except the fish batter isn't so thick like most places that offer "fish and chips". This batter is made mainly from eggs and it more or less layers the fish. The fish comes out hot and steamy and pretty much melts in your mouth. There's also two dipping sauces that come with it. This is probably my second favorite place to eat in Ala Moana, that's if Hibachi San isn't closed. I'd also consider it to be a little heartier of a meal because the servings are quite generous. This isn't the place to go for a large variety of authentic Korean dishes, with a menu that's impossible to understand (unless your Korean) but they do offer a few authentic dishes, and a nice selection of sides! For the quality of the food and what its priced at I'd say its an overall good value, and does its job of keeping my tummy happy.

You cannot go wrong ordering from here. The portions are huge. I would have to say the food beats Zippy's. We ordered the BBQ Chicken Plate and Beef & Chicken combo. We actually went to two locations one at Ala Moana and the other at Kaheka next to Don Quiojte. With the large selection of mall food you can choose from from Ala Moana, if you are looking for good Korean and BBQ come here. The food is super cheap $10 large portions with 4 sides!! Get ready for a Food Coma!

For mall food, this place is great! around $10 or $11 gets you a HUGE plate of food. I got the mixed bbq plate. Had pork, LA short ribs, and chicken. Then I chose 3 sides (kim chi, cucumbers, dumplings) and it comes with rice. The portion sizes are HUGE. could have easily fed two people. i managed to shovel it all into my belly.

All I have to say is that for being in a mall food court, the place seems to have the longest lines always! The food is very good here and the first time we ate here, we split the Kalbi Plate ($9.99) which comes with 4 strips of Kalbi, 2 scoops of steamed rice and 4 sides. It's quite a bit of food, but if you are a big eater, then you could finish it by yourself. We ate here the last meal before getting on our plane back to Los Angeles and I had the Beef mini-plate ($7.29) which comes with 1 scoop of white rice and 2 sides (slightly more generous serving than with the full plate, but you only get 2 sides). Overall, good value and taste. The meats are marinated well and quite tasty! I posted a picture of the menu for your reference. Cheers!

We just arrived in Honolulu. This was around noon time on HI, but we were still on West Coast time, well past breakfast and lunch, and we were hungry. Since our hotel room wasn't ready, we dropped off our luggage with the bell services, and headed to nearby Ala Moana Mall's Makai food court for a quick bite. After we got our kid's settled with their udon and curry rice from one of the food stands, my folks and I headed straight to Yummy Korean BBQ (wife shared what the kids ordered). There are so many good choices in this food court, but we had a craving for some grilled meats and with rice and sides. Similar to Sorabol in the SF Bay Area, each main includes a choice of two or three sides, depending on the order. My folks shared a combo plate of grilled chicken and kalbi, with sides of kim chee, chap chae, and spinach. Without asking, my mom cut me a slab of each to try. It was hot, with nice charring on the edges, and more importantly, tasty. I ordered one of the specials of they day, which was grilled spicy pork. This also came with a choice of 3 sides. I had mine with chap chae, kim chee, and spicy cucumbers. A generous portion of grilled pork, also charred at the ends. Also tasty, and with the right amount of kick for spiciness. (Sorry no pics, too hungry, couldn't wait to pull out the camera and take pics) Overall, a quick, satisfying, and inexpensive lunch after our flight from the SF Bay Area. A nice start for our food-driven week on Oahu!

granted that this was my first meal back in hawaii after my 10 day vacation on the mainland, i was pretty stoked to grind some chicken katsu and shoyu potato!! the wait was pretty short after ordering my food. i got lucky because as soon as i ordered, a whole bunch of people came up to order after me. i sat down to my delicious looking plate of food and mopped about half of it. the portion size was really big. plus, they give you four sides. the chicken and katsu sauce was pretty good. i was a little disappointed in the shoyu potato. i was hoping to sink my teeth into some soft, juicy potato, but they were rather dry. also, they were a little too sweet for my taste.

  • Kelly G.

What a waste of $10 !! We shared a chix katsu plate which was so greasy .... the mac salad was borderline spolied ....bean sprouts decent ...both kim chee choices bland... the katsu sauce too sweet ....even the rice was hard in certain areas !!! I needed to buy mouthwash at ABC just to rid the gross greasy after taste - blah !!

in the ocean of options available at the Ala Moana food court, it seems that Yummy Korean BBQ would be my choice today... Korean food is a fave simply for one reason...I love the sides!!! Choi Sum, Kim Chi, Cucumber, and potato were on point today. its really hard to decide! sometimes i cant walk away from the bean sprouts. This trip, I found the Choi Sum to be a bit on the salty side :( Fish Jun and Man Doo servings were ginormous!! OMG!! I will have plenty for later...not that i want to walk thru the mall with this, but its too late now. I'm committed. it's not my favorite place for Korean, but for the price and the location, i guess it will do. The 3 star rating really is for a combination of convenience, speed and value.

I ordered the Meat Jun plate for about $11. Since they recently increased prices, I thought the quality would be even better than before, but I guess I thought wrong. The meat jun had a lot of those stringy translucent inedible things surrounding the beef. For an $11 plate, I expect to have those kind of things trimmed away. In addition, they started to give less of the sides. The workers would use the tongs to grab a small amount of sides. I had chosen tofu, cabbage, and choy sum two times. The last time I ate the meat jun plate, it was about $10 and tasted pretty good. They probably tried to maximize the most profit this time around. At least the sides and rice tasted good.

I love Korean fast-food! They don't have plate lunch style, take-out Korean on the mainland, so this is a must when I visit Hawaii. I love choosing the different Banchan (side dishes) which include Kimchee (a hot and pickled cabbage), Jap Jae (a cold glass noodle dish), tofu, sweet potato (I think it's marinated with shoyu and honey), mac salad, and a number of different cold veggies. I almost enjoy the side dishes more than the entree! I always get Meat Jun (thinly sliced marinated meat dipped in egg and flour) because I don't know where to get it in K-town, DELISH! I also tried the Mahi Mahi Jun which was yummy with Kochijung sauce!

  • Don D.

Sad to say cause the last timew visited, it was awesome. This time the portion size sucked. My wife orders the same thing she normally does, fish Jun. The fish was smaller, and the side orders were about half the size that they normally are. Potato Mac salad literally had 5 small chunks. The cucumbers probably had 7. In general, everything was small. She normally doesn't even finish half a regular size plate but she almost did the whole plate this time. I'll give them one more chance.

I love Yummy, but the service here is bad compared to the Kaheka branch. I always feel like I'm being rushed into ordering. You have to quickly come up with what you like to order and what sides you want because the lady hurries you into ordering your food. I don't like the feeling of being rushed so I don't go to this branch when I'm craving for some Yummy.

Cold Bi Bim Bap??? Really? Not so tempting. Ice in Coke, when I asked for none (& was printed on receipt). Only 3 stars because ONE of the employees was especially friendly. Otherwise it would've been 2 stars.

pricier than the normal korean bbq lunch plates but better. I love the mayo potatoes and the bbq chicken/kalbi combo. I've recently started eating the seaweed soup there and the meat that they use it in is so much better than other places that have seaweed soup. This is my quick korean fix place... YUMMY!

Not as good as the YoonCy or Pearls in the Kahala mall, but serviceable. Got a combo meal (BBQ Beef & Chicken) and the portions were HUGE. Too big. I shared it with my friend. The meat was kinda over-sauced, but only if you're trying to not be a pig and I was in non-piggy mode today. They have your standard korean vegetables, kimchi, etc and I like that you get to pick four. It's kinda like getting all the little dishes at a sitdown Korean place, but you get it with your fast food. Like others, I found the cashier/service people to be a little ... hmm what's the word? Bored with life? I suppose that's a a possibility and even likely working in fast food, but show some pride in your work! When I was in college I washed dishes, and I tried to be the best dish washer in the world, and I was happy to be doing it! (Well, it was in a sorrority so maybe it was easy to be happy.. but you get the point.)

  • Brendon D.

I wish there were more of these on the mainland. I can't complain because I live in the city that has the biggest diaspora of Korean folks. At any rate, I got a bim bim bap. (spelling?) It was pretty good. Having said that, I'm no Korean food expert. Also, keep in mind that the portions are massive! We totally over-ordered. Don't half step. Don't order the extra side of rice like we did.

  • Rinda S.

My friend told me about the Meat Jun, which I believe is a Hawaiian specialty. It's kalbi meat dipped in egg, and fried. Pretty good actually - for a food court counter at the mall. I ordered the combination and it was really large. I could only finish half of it. Sides are OK...I only did it to try out the Meat Jun.

  • Margret C.

My good friend (from this island originally) recommended this place to me; ever since then, whenever we eat at the food court at the Ala Moana, this is where I get my Bi Bim Bap fix- a bowl of warm white rice topped with vegetables- julienned cucumber, zucchini, daikon, mushrooms, bellflower root, spinach, soybean sprouts, and bracken fern stems, chili pepper paste, a fried egg and sliced beef. The ingredients are stirred together just before eating. It's my absolute favorite korean dish- it's delicious. I don't order anything else from this restaurant. I am curious to try Pearl's (since I tried it in Maui) version though.

Tried the combination platter for about $10, and shared it with my husband. Lots of good meat, and interesting vegetable choices. As always, it comes with macaroni salad and rice. Overall, very filling and tasty.

  • Todd T.

Usually get the mini meat jun when I go there. I like that you can choose the side orders. But sometimes the kimchee cucumbers are soggy. I usually get the potato mac salad. There is usually a line but you can always go order your other food at somewhere else and by the time you go back your order is ready.

Food: 3/5 Price: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Organization: 3/5 Layout: N/A Atmosphere: N/A I'm not going to lie, I've had better. Having worked in the food court, I know how tiring and monotonous it can be, but that really is no reason not to provide good customer service. The ladies here barely smile and at you like your existence is a nuisance to them. The food is decent. I mean, the quality of the meat is mediocre at best, though the cooks do do a good job when it comes to the meat jun (my favorite dish ever since coming back to the islands). However, I will have to agree that the sides are salty (sometimes too much) and the ladies tend to be very stingy with dishing them out. For the price I'm paying, which tends to be around $10.07 (with tax) for a regular plate of meat jun, I would expect them to at least ladle out some good size portions. Also, you can only have up to 3 utensils. So other than the knife that normally comes with it, good luck getting more than two chopsticks or any combination of them if you want to share a plate with a friend. I mean, I know that it might be regulation but there is something to be said for being empathetic to your client base. These ladies have much to learn about caring for others. I really do not enjoy giving scathing reviews since I would rather make it positive but the service really left me with a bad taste in my mouth and heart. How can you really treat people that way, especially when they're being kind and smiling at you and they're the customer? It baffles me a little. They do get the food out fast though, which might be a saving grace to this company. Otherwise, I mainly go there when I need my fix of meat jun and nothing else. It does hit the spot nicely for me, but sadly, in terms of customer service, I've given and experienced better. Layout and atmosphere wise, it's the food court. Lol. I don't think there is more I can say about it other than sometimes it is hard to find seating (especially in a large group). But on the brighter side, it's Hawaii! Go out and love the weather! It'll make the food taste even better being around nature.

In a mall food court packed with various Asian cuisine, I believe that this venue is the better choice in terms of value and overall quality. The food itself was as good as it gets for Asian fast food. Obviously not on par with traditional Korean you'd get in a sit-down restaurant, but it still was quite decent. And the portions were very generous. My wife and I split a 4-item meal. Yes, a 4-item meal is a bit unusual and seemingly excessive, but it's definitely enough food for 2 people. And the selection isn't just Korean food; rather, it's a a mix of popular Asian dishes with Korean stuff available. We had BBQ pork and noodles mixed with pickled cucumber and kimchi. I think the entire dish with beverage cost $10. That's not too bad considering it fed 2 people in a fancy tourist mall.

Quick and decent. Grabbed some food here and took it back to the hotel, since the other Korean BBQ place in the center was closed for the month. It wasn't too great, but I wasn't expecting perfection. It always scares me a bit to see things like kim chee just sitting in tubs, since I'm paranoid it has been sitting there for a while, but everything tasted fresh. If I need a quick bite, I'm sure I'd come here again.

Located inside the food court at the Ala Moana Center, this place has become a bit of a tradition for my family and I. Every time we visit Oahu we go to the Ala Moana Center at least once. And every time we go to Yummy to eat Meat Jun because WE ALL LOVE IT! Yummy is actually a Hawaiian and Japanese chain but we love coming to this location because you just can't beat delicious food and shopping right afterwards. It also gives us the opportunity to walk off the hefty portion of food they serve us. Meat Jun is basically thinly sliced marinated beef deep fried in an egg batter. It's a mouthwatering combination of meat and eggs. The combo also includes 4 sides. There are several choices but I always like getting the mac salad, seaweed, japchae noodles and broccoli. All for 9.69! It's totally worth it. And if you like hot stuff get the sauce on the side. This dish is so ONO! (Hawaiian for delicious). This is a family tradition that I look forward to every time I set foot on the Islands.

Rating: 2/5 Date(s) visited: 4/28/2011, and a couple times before. Food: 4/5 Service: 1/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Parking: 3/5 If you want to be treated like your business doesn't matter...eat here. The employees have no sense of customer service and "Aloha!" I witnessed the manager giving attitude to a kind tourist whom asked to get both a fork and chopsticks. The manager said only one choice per plate. Chopsticks and plastic forks cost pennies. This can only result from the owners telling the employees to only give one or the other. If I'm going to give my business to this fast food joint, they better give me two sets of everything. Food: I'm glad that it didn't match the service. Service: None. Atmosphere: Mall food court. Price: Over priced. Parking: Mall parking.

ok- I'm a big fan of Yummy's- love their meat jun and all the choices for sides. today I tried the seaweed soup- and it was tasty. however, within an hour I had some wicked diarreah! I only had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, so it definately was the soup. stick with the meat jun and kalbi- avoid the seaweed soup

Food court food, what to get? Oh specials? I'll take the Kalbi with Shrimp that comes with 4 sides. $9.59 plus tax? Sure. Open my box of food, 2 fatty slices of Kalbi and 3 small deep fried shrimp. Damn you Peter Kim! yummyhawaii.com/welcome.… I feel like I just wasted $10. I just basically ate the side dishes.

If you like Korean food and you're famished from hours of shopping at Ala Moana, this place hits the spot. Good BBQ and great selection of sides. Kinda like Sorabul back in SF...but better in my book. Nuff said.

The woman that took my order here was the rudest and coldest person EVER. She was very very stingy on the portions and wasn't polite at all. I ordered the BBQ Beef entree and it was too salty. This place is not worth it and you could find a better place to eat in that huge food court. Stingy Stingy Stingyyyy!

  • Will L.

Let's be honest. All Korean lunch plate places are the same. The kalbi tastes the same. The BBQ chicken tastes the same. The bulgogi tastes the same. More or less. The difference is, the quantity, especially in the amount of pan-chon (sides) for the price. Well, certainly Sam's Delicatessen (I'm guessing Korean BBQ was not the original occupant) on Nuuanu (next to Bangkok Chef) and Gina's in Market City, lead the way in terms of price (little over $6) and quantity (both give you mounds of fresh pon chon to go along with your entree). The worst offender, of course, is Yummy's BBQ. I'm sorry to do this to another Korean brother, but charging nearly $10 (prices raised recently - horrible decision in this economy) for a regular kalbi/bulgogi plate is highway robbery, I don't care how good it is. It's just Korean BBQ, not filet mignon. And it's just pan-chon. And it's just rice. And it's on a paper plate. Hello, Peter? Plus, most of the Yummy's do a skimp job on all the pan-chon. I go there sometimes at the Ala Moana food court because I don't know what to get and Korean food seems to be my default (their Korean BBQ mahi mahi is pretty good and the only item worth the price), but I'll not step into a Yummy's unless I absolutely have to, because of their prices. It's insanity. Lucky Sam's Deli is close to my house. Plus, for a real sit down Korean food, just go to the Keeaumoku area for Sorabol or Choi's Garden, amongst other places. So Gong Dong is good too. If you just want to gorge, go to Camelia Buffet, the one on McCully between King and Beretania, and just go to town. The kimchi is really good and they even have pretty decent sashimi. You cook your meats at your table and you wrap the rice, meats and paste sauce in some romaine lettuce - it's pretty healthy (aside from the gorging part) and delicious. Lunch is $12.95 and with the usual coupon you can find in Midweek, it's $10.95, pretty much the same price as a Yummy's lunch plate. Sorry about that Yummy's. Lower the price. It's way too much for a lunch plate place.

Whenever I want some consistent flavor and preparation in food I want to enjoy I look no further than Yummy. I cannot remember a time when the consistency deviated from anything but good. If you are looking for upscale, don't look here. But if you are looking for flavorful food on the cheaper side, stop here for a bite. I have had most everything on the menu, but I am very partial to the Bi Bim Bap. It has a bit of everything in a bowl and it is very satisfying.

I was more impressed with their side dishes than their entrees which shouldn't happen at a restaurant. Bean sprouts and spicy cucumber were delicious but the bulgogi was average and their bibim kook soo was pretty bland as well. If I could get an entree of just bean sprouts I would!

you can't go wrong when you go to Yummis. This place has been a favorite of my oaregularhu, You can chose between the large plate or the small plate. Its a difference of about three dollars and instead of 4 sides you get 2. Personally the small is the perfect size for me. My favorite sides are the moyashi beans and the mac salad. The mac salad is made with a ton of mayonaise, so beware..I just happen to love my mac salad with mayo. the meat is nicely flavored and both the beef and chicken is great.

  • Toby T.

Yummy's Korean BBQ is everywhere. I'm glad they are because this is an easy, quick and delicious take out Korean restaurant. The plates are a bit pricey for take out ($10 for a combination plate), but you get enough food to feed two people. Its not up to par with Korean restaurant quality meats and vegetables, but its still tasty. Plus they are at Ala Moana Center, Royal Hawaiian Center and Don Quiote, basically my 3 weekly hangouts, so its a convenient way to get my Korean fix.

  • Ionakana H.

Interior: 8/10 (Food Court), Food: 8/10, Service: 7/10. OK, so it's not the greatest Korean food in the world, but I see it as fast food. Besides Tasty's, where else can you get a Korean plate lunch at a semi-decent price? Food quality is consistent from one location to the next. Prices are $1.25 more than what they should charge, but supply and demand determines price so I guess they're getting pretty good business. Would I go back? Yes.

  • Jonathan C.

Good: Generous portions of meat and rice and four fresh Korean side dishes for a great price. Bad: The quality and marinade of the meat can be better. Being from the mainland and an avid lover of Korean food, I never anticipated a food establishment like this place. I wish they expand their business to the mainland so I won't have to choose between Panda Express and The Express Panda. Final: Please come to the mainland!

Yummy Korean BBQ is delicious fast food! When you get tired of overpaying for mediocre food on Waikiki, just head to the International Market food court and seek out Yummy Korean BBQ for something Yummy! Pick up a combination plate on your way to the beach, the food is more than enough to share, unless you're a "Sumo" wrestler. Quick, Cheap, and Good, a rarity in the "Tourist District"!

  • Stacey K.

You have got to be kidding me. This place gives Korean food a bad name. The food lacks authentic Korean flavors. It's the McDonalds of Korean food. Avoid.... unless you are actually put in a position where you are choosing between a McDonalds and Yummys.

    (1)
  • Dave L.

Yummy Korean BBQ? That's a bold claim. You would only come here if... this is the only Korean food you will ever encounter, or you've tried everything else in the food court. I fit into the second category. Unfortunately, I've also been to Korea and LA's Korea Town, and had plenty of "yummier" Korean BBQ. I had the kalbi beef ribs, and they were just alright. Basically, it's a typical food court plate lunch. Tips: Solid side dishes.

Ate lunch at Yummy's yesterday. I'm STILL bloated from all the MSG/salt. NEVER EVER AGAIN. 2 stars because the customer service is decent. Sad, Yummy's used to be so much better.

I ordered the beef curry and pleasantly enjoyed the dish. Usually I order the kalbi bbq but never tried the beef curry. The beef curry was really good and nice porportions of rice, kimchi and noodles. very good taste, will be back.

This is the best food in the Food Court, but food courts are like lowly serfs in the hierarchical system of eateries. The Kalbi and Meat Jun are pretty good, but the vegetable sides are the true stars. The bad news is this place is stingy with the long rice, potato salad, watercress, etc. In fact, they won't even give me 2 cups of water if I order just 1 plate lunch. How am I going to wash all that MSG down my system? Nevertheless, I came here every other week until I discovered the treasure that is O-Bok Restaurant with its bigger and better Korean BBQ.

I just got Bi Bim Bap to go at the Makai Market...... Oh well, it came with egg without york :( Somehow they forgot york:( If I ate there, i noticed....but it was take out. They should see or they might drop egg york. But I was not happy at all. They should be more professional to make dish! Yet taste is great, though.

Small portions, unlike when they give me an overflowing veggie plate from Pearl's at Pearlridge, but Yummy's Ala Moana offers BROWN RICE for an extra charge (so worth it if you're trying to be good, though sadly, the one closest to me-Waipahu Town Center-does not offer brown rice!)

  • Kimberly L.

This yummy is not as good as the one in don quijote. It's still all right, but the food quality isn't as good and is it me or are the plate 50 cents more expensive? I got my usual Yummy Special Plate, which is like a fat man's dinner twice over, and I was disappointed by the meat. The kalbi was good, but the chicken was really fatty and they only gave me one piece instead of 2 like they do at the makaloa st location. And their bulgogi, I don't know what happened to it, but the meat tasted powdery. How that is possible I don't even know! Anyway, there are other options at the food court, I will continue to consider them. From now on, I'm only going to the daiei yummy--it's very close to this one and I like the food better!

This is one of my favorite places when visiting Honolulu. The food is great and you get 4 options for different types of Kim Chee with every entre'. Yes, this is Korean fast food. But if you are tired of McDonald's, Taco Bell and the rest, then go for Yummy's. The other great part is the service is pretty fast and you don't get the standard "stink eye" or bad attitude you get for not being Korean in a Korean restaurant. Highly recommended!

So we came across this place after strolling through the food court area of the International Market Place. It just caught our attention because of the aromas...so after having gone back to the hotel and reading the satisfactory reviews on Yelp, we decided to give this place a try. The food was average. We ordered the combo plate which comes with 4 choices of vegetables, along with the chicken and beef. This combo dish was something like $13-$14 but it was enough for the 2 of us to share. So not a bad choice if you're looking for a convenient meal. And you won't be disappointed. =)

This place was a great surprise! Their bulgogi and daewgi bulgogi were great! Okay, it was a little on the sweet side compared to most Korean food, but I loved it! I would definitely go there again on a trip back to Hawaii. I only wish I could get these sized portions for the same price in LA - you pay more for less food with less taste at LA korean take-outs. I loved Yummy Korean BBQ!

I used to love this place, i still do !!! but not the one at ala moana. The service for me was very rude, like dont eat hear plzs i dont like u get out of my face rude. Also the sides my very delicious sides were SO SSALTY its was so unedible , my mom told them quietly u should check the sides because its to salt. but they replied its salty because the meat is sweet. i dont think the meet is that sweet. but thats is what i think ;D i would give 5 stars to any other place , just not at alas.

This review is for my husband who longs for the Korean fast food of Hawaii which you can't get over here (I'm talking about you, Sorabol. Bad, bad, bad, esp. after multiple coworkers got sick after eating at the Rincon Center one). Anyway, he gets the meat jun and an arsenal of heart clogging sides. Now that he got the word from the doc that he needs to clean his diet up ASAP, who knows what he'll get there now, but he has 20 or so years of Yummy goodness.

One of the better places to eat at the Ala Moana Food court.... and one of the best food court restaurants I've eaten from. No, I'm not proclaiming this is Korean food in all of its glory, because I've had a lot better Korean BBQ, but for a food court, its tough to beat this place. I recommend trying their signature Kalbi, meat Jun is really good too, and they have a huge veggie section to pick your sides from. I usually go with the Limu, bean sprouts, and kim chee, but to each his own. - If you keep your expectations reasonable, I'm sure you'll have an enjoyable experience.

Not much to say about this tenant of the food court... Well, except for the fact that the food was NOT as "yummy" as their name may suggest. Why are Yelpers all giving it all 4- and 5-star reviews?!?! It's no better than your average food court BBQ lunch plate, and it's not even above average among all the non-sit-down Korean BBQ eateries I have frequented. Verdict: 1 star for its location (right on the Kalakaua strip), 1 star for the free dance performance upstairs

Best jobchae in the world. That's the long rice by the way. I don't get anything from Yummys except for the sides :)

First try of meat jun and Korean cuisine... food court was crowded that day! Very tasty and worth going back again!

Absolutely THE BEST fast food korean food anywhere. There's really poor renditions of korean food in fast food form like "sorabol" in the San Francisco Bay Area(Sorabol is also in hawaii..but totally different...the bay area one does poor justice to the name). Yummy is all over the islands and features very fresh ingredients and HUGE portions. The taste has not been compromised that much from authentic korean food. Most mall korean food has been candied up and tastes more like panda express or very teriyaki-like hawaiian barbecue. Yummy does a REALLY good job of staying true to Korean food and just pile the meats and veggies on. I love the fresh ingredients and it's the most convenient food at the posh shopping mall of Ala Moana. There are TONS of local hawaiians and tourists at Ala Moana mall. At other malls all around the country..I see people line up in droves for sweet/sour fast food chinese like Panda Express. This is the ONLY mall where Yummy's line of patrons makes the Panda express line in Ala Moana look tiny! You can get chicken wings, barbecue chicken, kalbi(pronouned GARBEE..not CAL-Bee)...and everything in between! My crew ALWAYS goes to this place as one of our staples when we visit the island! You'll be pleasantly be surprised by this mall gem!

Ate here after a day of shopping. Everything was pretty yummy. The only thing that gave me pause was that the side dishes were sitting out in front for what may have been a long time. but I guess it is better to see what you are getting rather than it sitting in the back under some guys chair. Id eat here again I would also opt for mini portions they give you so much food.

My hubby and I talk about when I used to live in Honolulu and he'd visit me. We would go to the beach and swing by and get two combination plates from Yummy's. They have great fast-food Korean BBQ - kalbi, bulgogi and chicken, crispy mandoo dumplings, awesome seaweed soup and a ton of veggies to choose from - such as the spicy baked potato salad, bean sprouts, soy sauce potatoes, watercress, and seaweed salad. When we reminisce about our dating days before I moved to Houston, we think fondly of our plate lunches from Yummy's. Oh, why can't there be a Yummy's in Houston? We'd definitely be the first investors!

  • Marc C.

I only had the man doo and it was good. It's great to have a semi-fast food place to get Korean food. However, Honolulu actually has waaaay more Korean restaurants than I expected and am unsure how this will hold up compared to other places in the area.

Terrible service. Gave my food to another customer then implied that it was my fault because they didn't call out the number like they should AND didn't check the receipt of the guy who took my plate. Would NOT go back there.

    (1)
  • Byoung Kyu S.

This is the place to go if you are hungry. The portions are HUGE! I had the meat combo for $8.50 which was two scoops of rice, kalbi, bulgoki, grilled chicken, a mandu, and four sides. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the quality of meat isn't that great but I guess you can't expect the quality fo meat you'd find at Korean restaurants that would charge a lot more. I will definately try Yummy again next time I am shopping at Ala Moana.

Oh Yummy, how I miss you. I'll never forget the day we met last spring, I think it was the first day of my vacation... and then I couldn't get enough of you. I came to visit almost every day. Those were the good times, yeah. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, but please come visit me here in Portland (and don't forget to bring some kalbi pork, macaroni salad, and kimchi). Next time I'm back in Honolulu I promise I'll come see you! xoxo, Gordon

If you are what you eat, I am CHEAP, FAST, and EASY! Good, not the best Korean, but GOOD food. I got 1 full tummy, full of yummy! Great value for the price, quality isn't bad either. I wish they were open 24hours cause man, I bet it would be the BOMB after a long night of drinking!

    (5)
  • Hue M.

Nothing like cheap Korean BBQ at the mall. It was really tasty. Cheap too. Service was terrible. But the food portion was great. I can't really justify giving 4 stars because it was not above average nor was it outstanding. It was delicious for being in a food court. Some of the kim chi appeared like it had been sitting there for awhile and no one was attending it. But the cooked meats that came out of the kitchen were really good!

    (3)
  • Joiera C.

I like this place for being quick fast and decent especially being its on the mall.

The thing I miss most about Hawaii. Forget L&L (they're everywhere now). Yummy's is the only Hawaiian plate lunch place I miss desperately now that I live in California. I've searched all over the Bay Area and its environs for a comparable place, but have failed miserably! My plate: BBQ beef with cabbage, seaweed salad, potato salad, and long rice. Awesome! Though, I'm also starting to like the chicken/beef combo plate. It's literally charred to perfection. The Ala Moana restaurant is the best and most consistent of the Yummy's locations I have been to. The higher traffic ensures fast turnover of hot, tasty food. They have an option to just order sides in a bowl if you only want veggies. Shazbot, now I'm hungry...

  • Shannon F.

SotoGoGaitongBaOlahChynayChoyaHoloAhhhh!!! Dis place is ONO!!! Everytime I go back home, I gotta go here...Choose yo' meat, choose yo' sides(4) and stuff yo' face!!! I hardly evah finish all I order...All that and a big drink for under $7? Nuts, yeah?

    (4)
  • Cheryl N.

This place speaks for itself... It truly is YUMM-EEE... I love their Kal Bi... and I love their Jun Do... I think that's what it is... Well, they look like fried gyozas. That with the long rice, and some mac salad... Total yums... Everytime I go to Hawaii, I HAVE TO EAT here whether it's Ala Moana, Pearl Ridge, or whatever mall I'm at that has it, I just have to eat here... It's just so good... And it really is not that bad in price.

    (4)
  • Ron D.

Considering that good quality Korean BBQs are far and few between in the continental U.S., this place is aaight, despite the pricey dishes! I'm like most Yelpers hoping that Yummy can give Panda and those sole Korean BBQ restaurants a serious run for their money east of Hawaii!

    (4)
  • Chacha M.

This first Korean food place lets you pick your appetizers and meat to go for spanking cheap price. I miss their spicy chige soup deadly.

    (4)
  • Leila K.

why is the meat here dry? the meat jun was especially bad. ugh...not satisfied at this location.

  • brandon m.

Meat Jun. I crave this stuff. I went to grad school at UH and we would always get Yummys Meat Jun for lunch. It was so good and then I left Hawaii and I could never find it again. Its not real Korean food but its served at almost all Korean restaurants in Hawaii. Anyway, I was back in Honolulu last week and I was craving Meat Jun more than anything else and Yummy's Meat Jun is the bomb.

    (4)
  • Joe K.

I'd give it four stars but the 11 dollar for a plate with a drink price tag kills it.

    (3)
  • T L.

Went there for lunch...really bad quality! The food tasted like it was reheated from the morning. Most disappointing was the price I paid for crappy food.

    (2)
  • San D.

This food court is crazy big, and always busy with a ton of options. With that said, I somehow ALWAYS stop at Yummy's for the Kal Bi & BBQ Chicken combo plate, with the scoop mac salad, kim chee and potatoes. It's so inexpensive and the portions are HUGE. Great for sharing with someone! And without fail, I always run into someone I know at the Yummy's counter.

  • Ed K.

yummy yummy in my tummy ...... =Z

    (4)
  • Grimeater A.

Better "korean bbq" than most places at a reasonable price. They have some of the best side dishes around. You'll never get leftover sides here, they get replenished pretty often. My faves here are Meat Jun and BBQ Chicken with double shoyu potatoes, long rice and kim chee. If they had a real meat jun sauce I'd give this place 4 stars.

    (3)
  • Jessica W.

mmmm good korean food in to get at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. I love their kalbi ribs! very delicious. chap jae was pretty good too. i like it because it's like fast food type. Yummy Korean BBQ is really Yummy!

  • Matt K.

The Yummy Korean BBQ in the Ala Moana Shopping Center is a pretty good place to get some Korean food. Yummy was one of the only places that was open late on a Sunday night. While other places closed, Yummy stayed open and fed my family! The Bi Bim Bap was pretty good, made to order, and included all the veggies and the rice one would expect from any Korean restaurant. While I'm not a fan of the spicy tofu soup, my mom sure is and she loved the spicy seafood soup. Portion sizes are good here and the prices aren't too bad. Yummy is a strong Korean fast food establishment. I recommend!

The name really does sum it up. Puts other food court participants to shame. My Bi Bim Bop was extremely edible. They serve it up fast, tasty and plentiful. Go Yummy!

  • J G.

Yummy, yummy, yummy... I have very fond memories of the Ala Moana food court. My mum, brother and I would arrive in Honolulu at 6am in the morning flying in from Asia so we'd have to kill time before we could check-into the hotels. Ala Moana being an outdoor mall allowed use to kill several hours before we took a quick cap nap in the car. Yummy Korean BBQ is where my mum and I would get our lunch. Their glass noodles are so tasty and the kimchi quells my Korean food craving after a long flight. In comparison to many of the other places in the food court, this is where it's at. I still go back from old times sake when in Hawaii.

    (4)
  • Randal P.

I like getting the BBQ chicken plate and grabbing a seat in the Makai Market to watch all the pretty wahines walk by.

    (4)
  • Katy D.

great portions and fresh food. i wish they would bring it to the mainland! the sides are always good and the variety is awesome. there are lots of great places to eat at the food court, but this place has the best bang for your buck. meat, veggies, and a starch/rice! there is also one in kaneohe, but it is more hole in the wall. still just as yummy:)

    (4)
  • Dina V.

The name says it all. And not just this location but ALL the locations on the island! I only wish they would come to the mainland so I can sink my teeth into some shoyu potatoes! All the sides are equally as yummy! I don't know what it is about the BBQ sauce, but it is delicious!

    (5)
  • Mary c.

This is the best plate lunch ever. You get a bunch of choices as sides, fresh scoops of rice, and then they send it back to grill your meat items. Serving sizes are HUGE. I miss having Yummy Korean BBQ.

    (5)
  • Kevin H.

i wasnt expecting much because this was chain restaurant, but it was really good! it might SEEM kinda expensive ( like $8) but the platter is huge!! its in a really good location too...near tons of hotels, a marina, and a park. not to mention its in a huge mega-mall. the only con is that it takes a while because theres a pretty big line. this restaurant is really great for to go, but not so great if ur in a hurry

    (4)
  • Gunnar V.

Let me be the first person to give a mall food court restaurant 3 stars. Seriously, if you give Yummy 5 stars what do you have left for the place that actually has silverware? Or if you go someplace that's really genuinely great? I ate at Yummy, and it was pretty good. At $8 and change it was was cheaper than lots of Oahu options. The amount of food was ABSURD. I got the beef&chicken combo. It came with rice and 4 sides. WTF, let's race to 300 lbs. The BBQ meat was good. The veggies, potatoes, kimchi, were okay. Good for a mall food court, average overall.

    (3)
  • Queezy Q.

Are you guys serious? Why is it that Hawaii lacks good Korean food? If you must dine here I would steer clear of the Kalbi aka fat chunks... "yum"

    (1)
  • Aaron S.

Yummy indeed! Yes, a lot of food but you can share. Sides we delicious and the meat excellent.

    (4)
  • Javier C.

This is just an americanized version of korean food. The food makes people sick, not sure what it is, maybe they are not higienic or something. Not good at all.

    (1)
  • Waynele Y.

the best fast food korean around.. all their side dishes are good, especially the potato salad and shoyu potatoes. the mini plates is more than enough, and the regular plates can feed two people. the best is the meat jun bbq chicken combo -- especially since they don't sell meat jun anywhere but hawaii. thinking about it is making me hungry.

    (5)
  • Carly H.

12.12.13. Yummy IS yummy. By far one of the best to-go Korean places. The food is always fresh, tasty, and the portions are generous. It can be a bit pricey, but a regular sized meal can easily be split between two or be save for another meal. A safe pick here is the meat jun! This location is located near Panda Expess in the food court. There are two lines that you can go to on each side of the establishment. NOTE: both sides have different vegetable choices, so check both sides if you're looking for particular items! Yelp 365 Challenge: 345/365

    (4)
  • Jordan Q.

The food was good, service was not. The worker was being chang with the potato salad along with the other sides of vegetables. She only gave a lot of the seaweed which I did not care for at all. Other than that it satisfied my hunger.

    (3)
  • Sheryl L.

Service is slow at this location. We usually split up and order food from the various kiosks in this shopping area, and we usually order here first and then go around to two to three other places, order and get the food and come back to wait for our order. This last time I waited 20 minutes! This doesn't help when I am hungry and everyone else is waiting for me with their food getting cold. The taste of food is consistent though enough that I will continue with my routine. I wish it were faster.

    (3)
  • Emilee D.

Kalbi and chicken combo plate! My favorite sides: Potato salad, chapchae, macaroni salad, and kimchee Runs about $14, but enough to feed two people or one really hungry person.

    (4)
  • Mindy K.

Food is consistently good. Yummy sides like the bean sprouts and mayo potato salad. Only drawback is the prices are higher here.

    (3)
  • Amy H.

If it's late at night, don't go. The food will be stale, cold, and unappealing. The service is slow too. I've tried Yummy before at a different location, it was decent. This place? Disappointing. My boyfriend got BBQ beef and shrimp, the shrimp was over fried and the BBQ beef lame and old. There was no kim chi left either.

    (1)
  • Brian K.

This is the first place we go to when we are on Oahu. Chicken and Kalbi combo plate is my usual. The potato salad is the best side dish. You must try it and thank me later.

    (5)
  • Aloha T.

Can't get enough of this!! Kalbi chicken plate is ... satisfying! Potatoe salad, corn, macaroni, and spicy cucumbers!! Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Y V.

The BBQ chicken and Kalbi were delicious. We did not expect such good Korean food in a food court. One dish is enough for two people. The portions are huge!

    (5)
  • Caity T.

I got the bi bim bap, and while it was mostly good, I wished there had been less chili sauce in it. There was a pool of the sauce along one side and I made the mistake of stirring it into the surrounding rice/soy sprouts/bok choy, etc. Other than that, the portion was good, the meat was tender and well marinated, and the other veggies were good before I stirred the big pool of chili sauce all over them :( Luckily I had already eaten quite a bit of the bowl before that (and it was good), but four star food fell to the three star category by getting a bad balance of sauce to food. Other people's orders looked really good as they walked by, so I might give it another try tomorrow!

    (3)
  • Tj C.

Horrible service, small portions. Did not expect to pay $13 for a meat jun plate that looks like a mini plate. When I asked if it was a mini she said no its regular plate, but meat Jun is small meat... I said well this looks like a mini compared to any meat jun plate I ever had in my life.

    (1)
  • O'Keefe P.

i had to check my dictionary the meaning of "Yummy"...it defines yummy as, delicious, delectable, appetizing and scrumptious; SORRY, none of these words refers to Yummy Korean B-B-Q. On the other hand, it means "over-priced", "greasy", "bland". "tasteless" and "retarded servers".

    (1)
  • Lei N.

NOMNOMNOM. I need me some rice. Out of all the places at the food court today Yummy's is the winner! We got in line before the lunch rush. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/yumm… ) Got the mini kalbi instead of the regular one... When I saw the one scoop of rice I was like, "oh." Looked like there was more meat than rice! The corn and sprouts, yummy. Why isn't there more. Maybe I should just order the regular one next time and try other plates.

    (3)
  • Sasha Y.

We finally decided to try it out as we always went for other options every time we came to the food court, I had the mini BBQ chicken plate w/ a scoop of rice and 2 sides ( kimchee and seaweed ); and my husband had the kalbi & chicken combo plate w/ 2 scoops of rice and 4 sides. The portion was generous, and the meat was tasty, with reasonable price, except it was too salty for me, I would prefer a lighter taste. Overall, we had a delicious Korean BBQ dinner!

    (4)
  • Cassie Alexis F.

The food is delicious, and sides are the bomb. Love the options we can choose from. Cost of food is reasonable but can also be a bit pricey :( We pretty much come here a lot so yes, we recommend!

    (4)
  • Alaina W.

I always try to hit this place up when I'm here. Why? They have meat jun. ...nobody has meat jun in Seattle. Nobody.

  • Mona T.

I'm a local girl from Kailua Oahu now transplanted in irvine Ca. Yummy's is the food I crave the most. Yes, we have a ton of Korean restaurants in irvine, but none that come close to my fave Yummy's. Here is the difference: the banchan (side dish selection) is the best. Every dish is delicious and they give you a good portion. The meat is really fire grilled unlike some of the California restaurants. It has a nice char, and the marinade is soaked deeply into the meat. Also cant beat the price. $7-$10 for a loaded plate lunch. Any of the yummy locations are great, but I seem to hit the ala moana location first. Actually, as soon as we arrive. Lol

    (5)
  • Phillip H.

The prices for the kalibi and chicken went up. I'm disappointed because it got more pricey and the portion got smaller. Rather go to Kams instead. It's cheaper and their sides are a lot bigger too.

    (3)
  • Brian M.

I always seem to end up in this food court once or twice a month and like always when I crave some quick simple Korean BBQ I come here. I like to order the mini plate because I don't like to eat left overs...The mini plate comes with 2 sides ! scoop rice, where as the regular plate comes with 4 sides and 2 scoops of rice(I can't finish a Regular plate). Meat Jun,Kalbi,BBQ Beef,BBQ Chicken,Curry Katsu all "Yummy" ,Spicy Pork was all right (Not hot enough for me). All of the vegetables side are pretty tasty but somehow I really really like strange looking fried potato salad. But thats me! I eat anything and everything. :)

    (3)
  • Big Daddy O.

I am a regular there. I have tried just about all of their dishes. The food is very very yummy. Everything I have had has been more than satisfactory. The size of the portions is more than generous. I don't know if they have it anymore but the grilled saba special was exceptional. The wait can be a little long but the food is more than worth it. The Ban chan May not be as varied as some of the more upscale Korean restaurants, however they are all still pretty darn good. If you can't find something there to satisfy your Korean hankering then you are not a true yobo. I really can't decide which is my favorite dish, although I lean towards the bullock. But anything there makes me happy.

    (4)
  • Sasha C.

i am not going to lie, i had this twice during my time at honolulu. it was extremely satisfying and if you know what you are ordering then you'll enjoy it for sure. both times i came for the bulgogi order with white rice (they just call it bbq beef). the 4 sides i chose were potato salad (SO GOOD), japchae(REALLY GOOD), spinach (yum and cold), kimchi (a must!). the price was about $12-$14 but thats good because in nyc you can barely get a korean appetizer for that price! it was a generous amount of rice and meat, and sides. absolutely delicious! now if only you can find seating ...

    (5)
  • Keahi R.

Pretty darn good.. Korean bbq chicken with 4 sides...10.95!

    (4)
  • Mathew K.

you know how mcdonald's has the biggest chicken nuggets in the world? yeah, yummy's has the equivalent with meat jun. and if you don't know what meat jun is, it's flank steak dipped in egg and then deep fried and seasoned with awesome. i don't know where else to get meat jun anywhere in the world, but every time i'm in hawaii, i have to stop at the alamo mall just for yummy's and get some meat jun. and then i go sleep on the beach because i don't want to do anything else.

    (4)
  • Lance n.

My family absolutely love this place. YES, it is very expensive for "fast food", but you get a lot of food and it is absolutely delicious. I believe that that Kalbi is $12.95 and the BBQ chicken is $10.95, but it includes 4 sides and rice. My kids don't usually eat much, but they always clean their plate (minus veggies) at Yummy BBQ

    (5)
  • Dawn S.

Yes, I do realize it's "fast food" Korean BBQ...but I still eat at Panda Express or Taco Bell on occasion, so what's the difference? Yummy's is definitely a "must" stop for me each time I return home to Hawaii. :) It's something I grew up with, and I never miss an opportunity to stop for a bite! My favorite is the Meat Jun, and the sides I tend to choose are: (duh) mac salad, watercress, kimchi...and depending on whether or not I go "double" mac salad, sometimes the spinach. Another thing I've tried multiple times that has been consistent in the past is the Bibimbap. I HEART Yummy's! I only wish it existed in LA! 4 shakas!

    (4)
  • Robin F.

This is our first stop every time after we land in HI. A Yummy Special feeds two easily. The variety of sides is insane for a quick serve place and the quality is top notch everything cooked to order. Yummy is right!

    (5)
  • Kerri M.

On my trip to Hawaii, I went to Yummy's for my Korean food fix. It's not the best but it's a pretty good choice when you're at the Ala Moana Food Court, portions are big! The banchan were decent and my tummy was pleased.

    (4)
  • Kimberly N.

The wait sucked and its a touch expensive but DAMN the food was good! Try the pork chop and chicken. Wow wow weee wow!!!

    (4)
  • Mei-Lan C.

had the spicy pork ( 9.79 $ ) which came with 2 scoop of rice and 4 sides. they offer brown rice for additional 0.50 $ . taste was pretty good and the portion is big enough for 2 to share .good alternative when you don't have time to go to a korean restaurant

    (4)
  • Preston C.

Of all the Yummy's around, this is the best one. The options of the banchan are better than the other ones. Good job.

    (4)
  • Nellie J.

haven't been here in a long time . but love their potatoes and short rib they give you a lot of food for the price. always come here when I am in Hawaii. its in the mall.

    (4)
  • Mike Y.

If you're like me and you're REALLY HUNGRY, average tasting food is somehow elevated to amazing. I was REALLY HUNGRY when I went here. It's mall food court food. It got the job done so no complaints here.

    (3)
  • Alice C.

Yummy is the Korean food version of Panda Express. Pick an entree (from lots of BBQ goodies/bibimbap), and you get to pick different side dishes (banchan) that will accompany your BBQ'ed meats. Serves decent sized plate lunches with plenty of banchan for you to get your daily veggie intake :). 3x I've eaten there @ different locations I picked the BBQ beef (I know, should've tried other things but I tend to stick with what is good). Consistent quality. Sad they only have it in Hawaii :( I think Yummy's got great potential in the mainland, for sure!

    (4)
  • Melissa C.

The sides and kalbi are actually not bad, but the rice they serve is plain awful. Hard, dry, gross. I pick somewhere else to eat in the food court now days.
