Located in the Hawaii Kai shopping center near Longs and neighboring Bale, this place is a somewhat divey eatery, not one would expect to see in Hawaii Kai. No a/c, hack job menus plastered on the windows, sticky tables.... But It does its job in feeding you (portions for fried noodles are huge.) I'm a fan of the beef broccoli fried noodles--its really greasy spoon, with its beef broccoli sauteed dark gravy over crispy noodles. I don't eat anything else. Pretty cheap, $8.50 for the large plate (lunch for tomorrow.) Lady in the front is friendly, but may seem brash because of a language barrier. I don't think anyone in food service should have nails that long, though.

Came in today on a whim to buy some dinner to go. My sister and I both ordered the curry ramen combo. Being a take out order, I didn't get the whole dine in experience, but I did notice the place wasn't very well maintained. A few workers were just sitting around since the place was empty, but jeez, the place could use some cleaning. In addition they had a few posters up from events that passed months ago. However the woman who took our order was very polite and updated me as the order was bring completed. On to the food. The combos come with fried rice and gyoza along with the ramen. The fried rice was alright, nothing fabulous but not awful not dry but a little oily. I did like the gyoza and the sauce provided. The gyoza was nice and hot when I opened it at home and the sauce was just the right amount of sweet. However the ramen didn't do it for me. The curry broth was globby at the bottom when I mixed it into the noodles. The noodles themselves werent impressive, kind of like the kind you buy from Costco. THEY DEFINITELY COULD PROVIDE MORE NOODLES IN THE COMBOS. The ramen comes in a standard take out bowl but only filled about a fourth of the way with noodles, a single piece of fish cake and a single piece of char siu. Really disappointed when I finished it in 4 bites. Perhaps Sumo Ramen has spoiled me with their portions, but I paid 11 dollars for the combo at Tokyo Noodle House and 10 at Sumo. Please clean up the place and provide more noodles in the combos and perhaps a little less oil in the fried rice and I'd come back

Don't have much to say so will keep it short as my daughter ordered from here, not me (though I did try and eat her left overs). Got the oyster sauce chicken, was God awful. Tasted like two day old over roasted chicken that was nuked with some way to oily stir fried mush they call vegetables over rice swimming in what seemed like an entire bottle of oyster sauce. I tried their ramen two or three ago's also but from what I remember wasn't much better than instant ramen. Will not repeat.

I came here on the advice of friend. He said to get the shrimp fried rice, but I don't like shrimp. :P So I got chicken katsu curry and gyoza. It was very good and in very good portion. Some lady came in and ordered something that wasnt on the menu, kim-chee fried rice. Now that I know that, I may come back and try it! Place is pretty dirty and such a dive when it could be so nice if just kept clean and tidy.

Portions are really large, which explains the price. I ordered the mapo tofu ramen and it didn't have any flavor...I also tried my friend's chicken katsu curry and it wasn't great. The combos seem like a good deal but the flavor and taste of the food was definitely mediocre or worse.

Seeing as I grew up in Hawaii Kai, I remember the days when I used to beg my parents to take me to Tokyo Noodle House (mainly as an excuse to go to the petstore next door so I could cry and sucker them into buying me a puppy...which totally worked.) Back then, the ownership was different I believe. The cook used to make a meaaaaaan seafood ramen. I mean I guess the seafood ramen now is okay too. My mom and dad both had a bowl while we reminisced about the good old days. My mom's bowl was too salty...and my dad's was too bland that he threw in handfuls of salt, pepper, and shichimi. I ordered the chicken katsu curry, which is what I've been ordering for the past 16 years or so. The curry was ridiculously sweet. You know how you have to drink water after eating ice cream to wash that sweetness down? Yeah, it was that sweet. I had to scrape the curry off the katsu just to eat it. The katsu itself was okay, I don't really think you could mess that up too badly. I didn't like that the curry was all over my rice since I basically had to pick out sections of the rice that wasn't drowning in overly sweet curry. Now the REAL reason for the 1 star; I would give 0 if I could. This place is disgustingly dirty now. What happened...?! The back door is supposed to be white but it's covered in dirt and grime...and mold? It's turning black and made me want to stay away so I didn't accidentally inhale something shady. The tables and chairs are sticky. I tried my best not to touch any surfaces and even sat at the very edge of my chair. Do you people not wipe your tables or your chairs? Ew. I really just think a make over for this place is long overdue. I mean, this used to be my favorite restaurant when I was a weee little lad. Now...not so much. I also had an awful stomach ache about an hour later. My parents came out to run some errands but we ended up booking it home because my stomach was not having it. There's no proof that it was because of what I ate...but usually when this happens I tend to shy away and never return. Eek! methinks not is correct.

Really overpriced and not tasty. I ordered the ramen/shrimp tempura combo: The ramen was super bland...getting a packet of Top Ramen and cooking it at home would've been a better choice. The 2 pieces of "tempura" were SUPER greasy, doughy, and clearly were defrosted in a microwave. The gyoza was inedible. The fried rice was the best part. A little dry, but definitely the highlight of the meal...pretty disappointing since I thought I'd be enjoying a delicious bowl of ramen. And this nearly inedible meal cost $14.50 before tax...not cool.

They have noodles. Not sure what Tokyo has to do with anything served here because the quality nor taste is anything reminiscent. Too much salt and not enough flavor.

  • Kai S.

the food is frozen or packaged noodle. nothing is fresh including the drinks. no one eats here because its way over priced making things even less fresh. my last katsu was gross, nothing but fat. the box i got for take had weird cockroach crawling out. i love supporting restaurant but this one doesn't deserve it.

This restaurant has great gyozas and noodles. Try the combo which is ramen, gyozas and a bowl of rice. They also have keiki specials for the keikis. They even have booster seats for the keikis. Lots of free parking and you never have to wait to get served because they are fast. They also have take outs. Lastly, the lady who works there has always been kind to me even before I ever dined there.

Located in the hawaii kai towne ctr next to long's. Parking lot can get busy with people who on errands. The food was ok. Curry was a little too sweet but ramen soup was great. Gyoza weren't very remarkable. I got the mini katsu rsnen combo for 1150 and thought the food was appropriate for the price. With l&l next door you might not find much difference. The person who took my order had long nails which were touching my empty plates. Never saw any of my food touch her nails but it's still gross and unhygienic-esp for a food establishment...

Please don't be eating while reading this review. Wife and I came here before shopping at Costco to avoid shopping on an empty stomach. That could be dangerous. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry. It was okay, nothing special. Kinda bland and flavorless. I went to use the restroom. Did my business and noticed a cryptic sign on the door that said CUSTOMERS DON'T PUT PAPER IN THE TOILET. Is it broken English meaning paper towels, or ALL paper products? The restaurant is located right on top of the marina and I don't want to kill any fishes. After I moment of panic, I had to make a decision. I'm not going to tell you exactly what I did, but let's say I took the environmental approach to disposal. Wife and I got the hell out of there pronto. It's not easy being green.

Usually come here when I don't know where else to eat in Kapolei. It's not amazing nor is it terrible, nothing special...it's just like what the 3 stars suggest, A-OK. The prices are good, combo meals for $9.99, usually comes with either ramen/curry, some type of fried rice and gyoza. I can never finish it! Every time I come in here it's pretty empty...ambiance is boring, the food is just...boring. Don't be fooled by the name of the place either. To me, it just seems like a Chinese restaurant disguising itself as a Japanese restaurant. I don't know why but the name of the place made my expectations higher than it needed to be. Man, writing this review is boring me.

Cheap and yummy combos. This is what comes to mind when I think of Tokyo Noodle House. Are you going to have the best ramen of your life here? Probably not. The best service ever? Again, probably not. Why then would I give them 4 stars?? I chose to give Tokyo Noodle House 4 stars because to be honest the food is pretty tasty. Never once have I come here and thought to myself, man that was a bad meal or experience. I always stick to the combos where you can get a bowl of ramen, gyoza, and fried rice for under $10, which I think is a really great deal!! I actually like the gyoza as they have a good amount of filling. The fried rice is tasty as well. When it comes to the service, like I said, it's obviously not a high class restaurant. But the lady in the front is always friendly and attentive. Give it a try and stick to the combos. You might be pleasantly surprised!

    (4)
  • Tia S.

The name is misleading. More like a Chinese place, not Japanese. It's not amazing, but the prices are good for the amount of food you get and I like variety. You will definitely need a take-out box for leftovers. Don't bring your mother-in-law or your boss here. This place won't impress anyone. It's boring. It's not one of those cool hole-in-the-wall types with life changing food. The place could use a facelift, color, and energetic workers.

  • Rochelle V.

I will NEVER go to this restaurant again! The chicken curry was so watered down, I had to add curry powder when I got home. It didn't help. The beef in my daughter's beef curry was literally so burnt on the edges of each piece, that it was black, crunchy and harder than beef jerky! Our food was barely warm. The kitchen was filthy and the cook kept scratching his head and his face while making the food. He also picked up items off of the kitchen floor, discarded them into the garbage bin, then continued preparing the food. He did not wash his hands the entire time.

  • Denalee C.

Not the nicest restaurant I've ever been to. It was chaos from the start. The ordering process was a mess. The lady couldn't figure out who ordered what drink and walked around looking kind of loss. The pho was run of the mill and the rest was unimpressive...

worst food I've had since moving to Hawaii. I should definitely not stray from Yelp reviews.

  • Nancy Y.

Came here right after parasailing and was HUNGRY! This place is a hole in the wall and food is not life changing but for the price, hey you get what you paid for. We got the fried rice and ramen combo. At one point, I think I heard the microwave go off-meaning my fried rice was done. Jeezus. I think if this business wanted to get better reviews they need to upgrade the food a bit and update the place a bit. New colored paint on the walls would be nice. It's in a great location and they give you a lot of food, but it can do better.

I was very disappointed with the service. I ordered 2 dinners but did not say "combo" when ordering. She did not ask me if I wanted the "combo". I left to pick up something else and when I returned there was only the mini chicken katsu curry bowls. I asked about the other items ( saimin, gyoza) which were included in the dish. Waitress/Hotesss/Manager said very loudly you did not say "combo". I agreed with her and said i was wrong and would she please order the rest of the items for the combo. She ordered the other items and then charged me full price for the addtional items. I asked her why I couldn't just pay the additional for the combo and she said it was to late and I had to pay ala carte. There was NO ALOHA at this place. It wasn't like she did not know me or our family, someone from our family eats there at least once a week.

Made a take out order and ordered crispy chicken on shrimp fried rice. Once we got home and ate it the chicken was burnt, smelt spoiled, and was mushy on the inside. The bad/spoiled chicken then ruined my shrimp fried rice below it. I'm giving it one star just because it came with a lot of food but I ended up throwing it all away. Sick to my stomach and a waste of $13.

I really couldn't bring myself to give 2 stars. Very plain ramen. Broth tasted a bit like soap. Service was pretty lacking. Pictures posted on walls are gross.

Rarely am I on this side of the Island so I really don't know where to go for food. All I know is that I wanted some ramen and the pictures on the window looks really good. I am a sucker when it comes to combo meals. I want a little of everything! I ordered the shrimp tempura ramen combo which is a small shoyu ramen, small fried rice, 4 pcs of gyoza and 2 pieces of shrimp tempura. The fried rice was really bland, my gf referred it to the kind at Chinese restaurants. The ramen was SUPER salty! probably loaded with MSG. My gf described the ramen as being half a package of noodles which I would agree to. After a few slurps my noodles were all gone. :'( The shrimp tempura came out hot and it was good. The best part of my meal was probably the gyoza, huge pieces loaded with pork, green onions and shredded cabbage? The combo set cost $11 which in my opinion is just about right or even cheap. My gf had the miso ramen. The broth was exactly like how miso soup is. The kind you get in the small bowl before your meal. Im not exactly sure if thats how its suppose to be? I would probably come back here as a last resort. After reading everyone else's reviews, I wouldn't want to experience the junk service.

This was probably the worst dining experience in my life!!! I ordered the curry ramin. I think that they use the S&S saimin packs from costco. The noodles were terrible. Not only that but what they constitute as "curry" ramin is to plop in a curry block (like golden curry) into the broth right before they serve it. I still had globs of the undissolved curry in my bowl while I was eating!!! My wife ordered the cold noodles. The noodles were the same S&S noodles that I had. Then they just got a quarter of a head of lettuce, cut it into thirds and served it on top of the noodles. Terrible. They were really loud and the server was talking on the phone while serving our water. And she's the one who made the call!!! This was sooooo bad!!!! I think McDonald's would have been better!!!

    (1)
  • Justine P.

Broccoli Beef with Crunchy Noodle was way way WAY too salty. The first few bites were OK, and then after that I had to drink a bunch of water to flush down the salt. I think it had to do with the fact that there was way to much sauce in the dish. The restaurant itself is pretty ehhh.. My friend and I were seated right by the door to the kitchen, where there was a worker clearing dirty dishes and trash pretty much the whole time we were eating! I felt disgusted. If you can, PLEASE go somewhere else. After my friend and I left the restaurant, we both agreed that we would have been MUCH more satisfied with a burger from McDonald's or Burger King. :/

Mmmm... ramen, fried rice and gyoza combo. Satisfies my salt tooth and fills me up all for under $10. And right next to the Hawaii Kai Longs, score. I've realized I've been giving all my Hawaii eateries 4 or 5 stars. Is it that Hawaii has exceptional food, or that I can't go wrong since I only tend to go to places where I've had exceptional food in the past? I'm gonna go with "both."

    (5)
  • Yuri R.

Noodles were terrible, just terrible. Gyoza was good but its not called Tokyo Gyoza House. I would recommend if you're in the mood for noodles, go somewhere else.

  • Sandra B.

It used to be 5 stars for the food quality. It used to be the best beef broccoli (crispy noodles) I had ever tasted. It also used to be much cheaper, about 5.75, a few years ago. I don't know what happened, it really went downhill. I went there, the same cashier was working there, I don't know if they changed their cook or their quality of ingredients. I am thoroughly disappointed this time. Got the same dish, beef broccoli crispy noodles, now it costs 9.00. It doesn't taste the same at all!!! Big let down. I will NOT go there again.

I call up my friend, ask him what he's doing, he tells me he's at Tokyo Noodle house. What a coincidence, I'm in my car in the parking lot. I walk in, sit down, order a $9 combo, 4 piece Gyoza, ramen and chx katsu curry. It was so-so. My last resort eatery in Hawaii Kai. It's decent but it aint good. Today was good, cause Mikey paid. Thanks Mikey. Next one's on me, Goma Ichi, some real Ramen.

Never again. So far, I've gone twice and tried different things. On my first visit, I ordered Ma Po Tofu over rice. No flavor whatsoever. For my second visit, I tried their Shoyu Ramen. The dashi could have been instant. The soup did not have the complexity of flavor that I find at my favorite ramen shops in Waikiki and Ala Moana area. If you're looking to have noodles, have the pho at Pho 777 in the same shopping center.

  • Arabiki D.

Another Chinese run noodle house! They have a good variety of ramen but the taste is just not there! Noodles probably similar to sun noodle brand. Nothing fancy. This place is probably here to make Japanese divers (dive tour shop nearby) feel at home and give them a familiar menu.

I stopped in here one day for a solo lunch. I didn't see any cold noodles on the menu, and the day being hot and their A/C being non-existent, I wanted cold. I asked the lady if it had any meat in it and she said no, just fish cakes, cucumbers, and lettuce. I said fine. I sat at the counter and looked at a bunch of clutter, including a big bottle of sesame salad dressing from Costco that I had recently bought myself. The noodle dish was brought out: cold ramen noodles in a soy sauce base, shredded fish cakes, shredded anemic ice berg lettuce, sliced cucumbers, and something that was either pork or beef. I am not against meat, though she said it didn't have any, but this meat smelled off. Like old lunchmeat. And it was neither hot nor cold, but room temp, like they have it around to throw into the hot soups. I was afraid it would make me sick, so I didn't eat it. The noodles were fine, the sauce was fine, but it wasn't anything that I could not have made at home for far less. And I was not into the old looking iceberg and meat.

Tokyo Noodle House is a very mediocre restaurant. There is nothing that is really exceptional here in terms of taste or service, but it is very reasonably priced and portions are vast. Every dish I have tried there is just okay, but almost all of them are under $10. The combo dishes, which usually come with a noodle dish, rice dish and gyoza are also almost all under $10, except for the ones that have seafood. The oyster chicken, crispy chicken and ginger chicken plates are under $6, if I'm not mistaken. The beef curry was probably the most disappointing of the dishes tried so far- there wasn't enough curry sauce on the rice and the rice was dry. The gyozas are pretty big, but again, pretty average in terms of taste. This is a place that you go to when you live in Hawaii Kai, don't want to cook and are really craving ramen or noodles.

Their shrimp fried rice is delicious but otherwise, don't expect much in terms of service or anything else. I've had the crispy chicken rice from here before. Extremely dry chicken. It was crispy alright but the chicken was so dry, it was awful. The last time I stopped by, I was picking up some shrimp fried rice for takeout and the entire time I was there, the lady who was at the front counter didn't stop talking loudly on her cell the entire time (she also needs to cut her nails... gross). She paused only to tell me how much it'd cost and then returned to her conversation. Then she paused again to give me back my change. She just juggled the phone on her shoulder and put away dishes and took orders for the chef in the back. I think I'd only come here if I'm getting takeout. Otherwise the place is hot and there's no a/c either.

This was the worse place I've ever been to for Ramen. First of all the table was sticky from whatever food was left over from the previous diner. We ordered the seafood ramen combo and DH ordered the Mabo tofu ramen. Prices weren't bad and I was lightly hopeful. The soup was utterly thick, almost like gravy on both ramens, and tasted as if a whole bottle of salt was dumped on it. We both choked it down, since we were so hungry. The fried rice was burnt, and I actually had to add the sauce from the ramen to the rice to give it flavor. Gyoza was pretty good, but I've had way better. Never again would we go there even if I was given money. To top it all off, I was in the bathroom all night long.

I like this place. I'd say we go about once a month or so. I've never had a bad experience; nothing outstanding, either. I always get some kind of ramen combo (comes with fried rice and gyoza). Their charsiu is nice and salty and their ramen is always satisfying on a cold night. I grew up in Japan so I really appreciate a good ramen... and even though this place may not be top-notch or super authentic, it still hits the spot. And it's a good cheap outing. I've also had their chicken katsu curry.. and I like it. It's just S&B curry.. but what's wrong with that? :)

been here a few times and each time things have been just okay. the prices are very reasonable, dare i say cheap? the service isn't good or bad, it just is. the lady at the counter is very nice and has the cutest daughter who runs around some days after school. anyway, the last time we went (last night) adam claimed the gyozas were undercooked and a little too chewy. i did not notice, but i must say i'm not a fan of their gyoza dipping sauce. adam got the crispy chicken and rice for $5, can't really beat that. except they served him old rice- you could actually see the shape of the cooker it had been in and it was dry and hard like it had been refrigerated. i thought the crispy chicken skin was delish, but the rest of the meat was too dry. i got the curry mixed plate 2 with fried rice instead of white rice. i'm telling you, if they just made their curry a little spicier instead of sweet that dish would win some prizes: chicken katsu, deep fried oyster, and fried shrimp on a bed of fried rice with large chunks of egg, covered in curry with a side of pickled veg. YUM! have to say i prefer the curry house to noodle house's katsu curry... but maybe that's why it's CURRY house and not NOODLE house. i'd like to say that the next time we go i'll order something different, but i really don't think that will happen. perfectly good place to stop by for a casual bite.

before i let you all know how my experience was at Hawaii Kai noodle house, id like to say that i also work at a restaurant . i know how stress full and rough, and customers can be extremely picky, nagging, and super harsh. I went into Tokyo noodle house yesterday craving some good curry, and settled for there because ramen ya was packed. I thought it would be good, but when i walked in it was way more pricier then ramen ya and their menu was pretty small. immediately had a itch of regret but whatever foods food right? So me and my two friends sit down pretty excited so fix my curry craving when...this is extremely hard to talk about because I'm still nauseous ...lady takes our order, i asked to use the bathroom i open the door and its crowded with chemical cleaner's... just another turn off you know, I'm not going to judge on that though cause i was still stoked for curry. leave the bathroom go to my table tell my friends we kinda clench our teeth and stick it out, 5 minutes later..curry comes out. ( we all got curry kastu chicken combo) of course i dig in so do my friends... ----my Curry's cold....i stopped take a bit from another area on the plate ---warm.. but i didn't really mind kept eating then my chicken was cold?? i made sure it was pink but it didn't want to complain & it didt look pink so i ate on......got my soup and gyoza both hot fresh and delicious. ate quite a bit of the curry left most the chicken and ate until i felt like i was gunna burst... enjoyed the noodles & soup ... before we left i really didn't want to tip them and i actually mentioned it to my friends but i just felt even more mean for complaining aloud. so i payed and tipped. Went home and felt full and satisfied. woke up at 2:49am on the dot feeling feverish and over heating. i felt Little ill & used the bathroom all was fine, except i found myself running to the bathroom everyone hour since then feeling like I was going to puke but never did until 6am... i felt extremely ill by then my body was aching i felt almost paralyzed in agony and nausea. i then didn't not stop vomiting until just recent maybe an hour before i started to write this review. I feel allot better after an Tylenol. I Spent my entire morning and half my night in seriously aches and pain, vomiting and heat flashes. I'm not sure if this was from their food, but i can say its extremely painful to regurgitate curry, and there was really no other reason i would've gotten ill. None of my friends, family, or close others were or have been sick recently. not like me, that was straight up 24 food poisoning or stomach flu. i just strongly recommend to stay away from Tokyo noodle house in Hawaii Kai just to be safe. i wouldn't be able to physically sit up and go on the computer i could barely lay still without being in terrible agony. strange but I'm now allot better. Hate to complain but i really wouldn't waste my time on yelp where anal rich Hawaii kaiians complain about their high standards but THIS IS A WARNING

This place is gross! Not only is it dirty but the food is horrible. The last time I went in, the woman's young daughter was there instead of school because she was sick. When the woman brought out our food, the little girl followed her then coughed all over our food! Yikes - never again.

would've been 1 star except for the gyoza... the curry katsu was off, golden curry tastes better, the tempura was acceptable, fried rice was dry and bland, and the ramen was salty. overall a mediocre meal at best.

  • David L.

Very good chicken fried noodle dish. We were not fans of the broccoli beef with crunchy noodle, and maybe we are not big fans of ramen, because that was just OK. But the pot stickers and chicken fried noodle were outstanding, fresh, and cheap. We would return again and again if we lived here. They only had canned sodas, but they were Coca Cola, which was good.

I live in Cali, but when ever I come to Oahu to visit I have to stop at this place. The Beef Broccoli Fried Noodle is the only thing I have ever eaten there because it is the best I've ever had at any restaurant. Massive portion. I can't find any Beef Broccoli dish that good on the mainland. I visit Hawaii once a year and this is the first place I stop to eat at every time. The food is usually ready in less than five minutes.

Great little hole in the wall noodle place, in, of all places, Hawaii Kai. Food is a relative bargain, they have good ramen combinations, and the fried rice is really tasty. I usually skip the gyoza in the combo, and ask for extra noodles. Never had a bad meal here.

I have to say this is the worst ramen place I have ever been to. We ordered miso ramen set & shoyu ramen set. Gyoza had no taste. The broth was really salty. The 99 cents package ramen was better than that.

  • Jeremy J.

My family & I have been going to a lot of noodle houses on Oahu this trip. This place is definitely at the top of our list. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Udon which was very good but it wasn't as good as the excellent miso ramen. The Crispy Chicken was really good. This was as good as any fried chicken we've had. I had the noodles with seaweed, bamboo shoots and corn (can't remember name, photo was on entry glass). It was very good. I'm not used to seeing bamboo shoots that weren't machine cut & canned. The best part was the Gyoza. Hot, fresh and gingery. We haven't had better Gyoza.
