Went there after craving some Korean food...didn't know what I wanted to eat but somebody had mentioned Bibim Bap. I'm not a big fan of Bibim Bap because it's hard to find a place that makes a good one...look no further Ono Korean BBQ nails it and the portions a huge...I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Ahhhh, I was really enjoying this place, but today I found one, maybe two bugs in one of my side veggie dishes. It was a lighter colored dish so I could see the bugs. There may've been more in the other dishes but they were darker color and I didn't want to look. It's too bad because I really liked the meat here. Maybe when the reviews stop mentioning insects, I will return. I hope this place takes care of the problem.

Read some comments about this place having bugs/flies in their side dishes. Yes it's true, but it's not something they could control. This place is one of the cleanest food joint in town. Unfortunately the entire center is infested with those bugs but they are not sure where it's coming from. I eat here a lot and from my knowledge this has been an ongoing problem at this center for many of the shops. No matter how clean they are, these bugs get into each shop through the ceilings. It's sad that this great restaurant is being given bad reviews for something they cannot control and have been trying very hard to keep out of their good by putting clear wraps. The food and service is great at this restaurant and I hate to see them loose customers because of this. My favorite is their Meat Jun! It's really good!

My spicy pork was salty. My 4 choices of vegs did not have flavor. Maybe my taste buds were off this evening...most of the other reviews seem to like this place. I don't think I'll be back. And I'm verifying the presence of bugs (gnats, and saw a roach crawling down the speaker).

Waste of $26 for two combo plates. It was lunch time and I and a friend were in the area. He ordered Kalbi and I ordered Fish Jun and a BBQ Chicken Combo. I wish i had something positive to say. Not a thing. But here are the negatives. You'd think its lunch time and they would get you a freshly bbq piece of chicken. Not on my plate. The chicken was hard with a rubbery toughness. Maybe i got dealt with leftover from the day before and toss it in the microwave. The fish jun was like a thin pancake. Cant taste or feel the texture of the fish. Sides are just like what you get from the likes of Yummy and popular Korean BBQ fast-food joints.....its just that the sides here taste old. I didnt eat the four sides and the rice. I was too hungry i had to eat some protein and so it be --- eating leftover chicken and a crepe thin fish jun. My friend was the same -- ate one piece of Kalbi and the rest was thrown away. One star only because its required for the review otherwise it doesn't deserve half a star. Perhaps it would be devastating to even consider their catering service. Any hole-in-the-wall place is better than this place.

This place looked like the cleanest Korean BBQ in the area until we saw the vegetable sides behind the counter. There were little insects crawling all over the food. I don't know if they were cockroaches or what but the food was infested. We walked right out after seeing that. So I can't comment on the quality of the food. Good Newly renovated area Convenient location Good parking Bad INSECTS CRAWLING IN THE FOOD No one came out to help us when we walked in

Awesome addition to the complex, specially if you are craving Korean food! First things first, this location has lots of parking so you don't have to worry about scrambling for one. There's also no parking enforcements so yeah feel free to park here! This place has the same concept at Yummy's BBQ; order your main viand then you choose your sides displayed behind the glass. They accept cards. Although I mentioned that it has the same concept at Yummy's, I didn't see Jap Chae and they didn't have Spicy BBQ chicken. I think this is a family business so it might just change.. dunno.. My boyfriend and I arrived at the location around 8pm and we were greeted by a young gentleman unloading groceries from a car. Upon walking to the register, we were greeted by an older lady and proceeded to take our order. At first I thought, "Oh wow its the same as Yummy's" so ordered a 'Spicy BBQ chicken' thinking I was going to get a nice slab of spicy bbq chicken but instead got spicy chicken wings. I wished the lady had clarified that they didn't carry it upon ordering and only then I realized the mistake when I opened the plate lunch and found six huge, golden-brown pieces of chicken wings (yumm). I didn't really read the menu partly because I didn't have my glasses so I skimmed the entire menu. I didn't complain because I was hungry and I thought the plate looked very fulfilling and worth the money. My boyfriend got the bi bim kook soo, which was also good and you can choose from mild to spicy. Unfortunately my bf got an upset stomach the next morning so idk if we would recommend the bi bim kook soo; personally, I think his stomach didn't handle the heat very well. Haha! They have a soda machine, filtered water dispenser, and a coffee/espressso machine to the left of the establishment. If you want coffee refills, you have to pay $.75(?) I think. Condiments are located there as well. The only downside to this location is the amount of gnats hovering around you. One flew in my rice so I set that aside. I think the gnats got in from bringing in the produce and the fruits. Besides that, I think this place is worth trying again. Everyone keeps raving about the meat jun so I'll definitely look into it! In conclusion, this place serves a great addition to this complex mainly because there are other establishments in which you can choose from depending on your cravings, whether or not its Japanese from Dairyu, Sushi from Ahi and Vegetables, Hawaiian from Violet's Grill, or your old-time favorite, Zippys! There will be I love Country Cafe, a Dim Sum Outlet and Wingstop ready to open some time soon so definitely look out for that!!

They need to dump their trash more often. We ate inside the place and there were so many tiny flies all around, it was disgusting and I couldn't eat. Food was average - we had the special with kalbi, Teri chicken and Mandoo. Nothing special and totally turned off by the flies.

Excellent customer service! We were looking for a place with saimin or something similar on a rainy day. We stopped at another restaurant nearby and were very disappointed with their attitude toward our large party of 7. We had friends visiting us from the mainland and they have 5 little ones: a tall order for any restaurant. We were welcomed despite the fact that they knew we'd be a messy, loud group. This is the main reason they deserve 5 stars!! However the food was really great! The portion sizes were huge and we had to take food home with us for later. The kids loaded up on so many options and were fully satisfied when it was time to go. We probably had everything on their menu and it was all excellent. Highly recommended!

Food was, like the name states, ONO. Price is like all other Korean BBQ's expensive. I ordered the kalbi short ribs, and I choose the sweet potato and Kim chee for my sides. The food was really good. I would definitely recommend this place.

This is my first time coming back here after how many months. I usually order the meat jun. I went here yesterday 5/6/15 around evening time. There was only 1 worker in the front & i'm sorry to say that the young lady DOES NOT know how to multitask. I was the 2nd person in line & had couple more people in back of me. After she took my order, she immediately went onto the next customer and I saw her put rice on my plate then gave it to the back & I thought, "Don't you need to put my sides in?" I was standing by the sides for nothing at that point. But then I was like whatever. I sat down on the side & waited for my food to finish. Once my food was finished, she called me to ask for my sides. I got my plate then went home. When I got home, I was pretty shocked at my portions! The sides portions were pretty SMALL. When I took a bite out of the corn, it tasted as if it was frozen? before it came out and the kimchee wasn't too bad. The meat jun was kinda mushy... Idk, after this experience, i'm not sure if I would go back to this location again. If I wanted to eat meat jun, i'd prolly buy from the Tasty Korean BBQ at Waipahu or Mililani.

This is a must-go for Korean food! The price is so cheap compared to how much food they give! There are over ten different types of side dishes including, 4 different types of kimchi, Mac salad, long rice, Korean pancakes, vegetable tempura, etc. The vegetables are so fresh and the area is so clean! On the day that I went, I even got to meet Magic! there! Magic! was visiting them while they were here during their concert. Will be definitely coming here to satisfy my Korean food cravings!

Great to have a Korean Bbq place in Kalihi. Ordered the Meat jun and Chicken combo. There was a lot of food and the place is clean. They also have different types of sauces which you can sample when eating in the restaurant. Price is reasonable and service is excellent.

I would say more like 3.5 stars. It's a clean, typical Korean fast food place on the island. What was good to me was the Korean "miso" soup, which is a misnomer because it's not miso, it's supposed to be deon jjang. However, this soup tasted like real Korean doen jjang guk, rather than the watered down bastard child of weak soon tofu soup that many other Korean places serve to locals. This actually felt like authentic Korean doen jjang which makes me happy as it is a convenient location for me. Ask the cashier that you want it authentic Korean style and they'll make it spicier for you. My son enjoyed his mini kalbi plate and his mac salad, but the mac salad it was a little too vinegary and not completely local style. But you don't go to Korean places for mac salad, ya? The banchan was decent, nothing extraordinary, although they did have some pah (green onion) jun as a banchan item, which most places don't have. Their shoyu potatoes as a banchan was dry, however. Kapalama Shopping Center has some good options these days -- here, Wing Stop, Ahi & Vegetable, heck even Zippy's. It also houses my favorite bakery on the island, Elvin's. There is plenty of parking (although the stalls are really compact without saying that they are).

So I came here a few days ago for lunch because I wanted meat jun. They're located at the Kapalama Shopping center, the same center that has Wingstop and Dillingham Zippys. For lunch, it wasn't quite hard to find parking. When I walked into the Ono Korean BBQ, i noticed that the atmosphere was "fun" with the colorful decor. It wasn't busy, there were two couples already eating and another walked in right after me. I ordered my plate and chose my sides and took a seat to wait for my food. 5-10 minutes passed and I noticed that the couple who ordered after me had gotten their food before me (I ordered a mini meat jun and they ordered a combo plate consisting of Meat Jun as well). This put me in an irritated mood, because i needed to head to work soon. I FINALLY got my food after another 5 minutes. Their prices are pretty good, considering the "mini" plate isn't so mini! Filled me up pretty quick. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the long wait and the couple receiving their food before me. Other than that, their food was pretty tasty as well!

Located in the old Palama Market space in the Dillingham Plaza is a korean take out place named Ono Korean BBQ. I stopped here because parking is plentiful and easy to get in and out of the Plaza and the order for the day was Korean food. Got there at 11:15; before the lunch crowd. Placed my order with a friendly counter clerk who was diligently took my order. No sooner than my order getting placed, the lunch crowd came in. The Owner (I assumed owner by the way she spoke and handled the cash register) began to man the counter and take orders. She not only messed up all the ordering system, she was very condescending to her worker and began scolding her in front of everyone. So far as I could see, the counter clerk did nothing wrong. In her haste to fulfill everyone's orders and messing up the system, my order got lost in the shuffle. I was the first one there and the last one to leave. The owner reminded me of the Tazmanian Devil- whirling into and creating a storm and whirling out. When I asked where my order was Owner then started scolding the counter clerk as if it was the clerk's fault. Shameful service. The food? Meh! I've had better. The kalbi meat was a bit too sweet. The banchan servings were teeny weeny servings, the mandoo soup was the best tasting of the approximate 5 plates and dishes I ordered. Moral to the story? Bad customer service and owner attitude does not make up for good parking conditions and semi decent food

My husband and I come this place about once a week here to pick up dinner on the way home when we get off late. Our favorites are Ono special combination and seafood plates. We like Sam's deli in Nuuanu, too, but Sam's deli food tend to be very salty. Ono's barbecue meats are always well marinated, flavorful and not to salty, and their side dishes "banchans" are pretty good. Love their choysam and cabbage. Their soups are so so. May be I would have given additional star if their soups are equally good. The value is phenomenal. You will not be disappointed.

I really like the new Dillingham complex after the remodel. It's a nice looking complex which is somewhat of an oasis in the general atmosphere of the rest of kalihi. Since it was redone, a few new places have shown up including Ono Korean BBQ. I stopped in here tonight after a workout hungry as hell. I may have went a little overboard and ordered both the meat jun and spicy bbq pork. The spicy pork was above average, and combined with the bbq sauce I thought it was fairly good. The meat jun was very tasty and the texture was just right. I especially enjoyed the option for both regular and spicy versions of the meat jun sauce. Overall, the portions were huge, the meal was affordable and the food was delicious. I can definitively say that "I'm a fan."

Food is reasonable and good. We had the Seaweed soup and meat jun, both was tasty and plentiful. It was dinner time and the crowd was coming in. Did wait awhile for our food. We will come again and try the spicy pork and kalbi.

The meat jun, barbecue chicken and spicy fried chicken are good. Their downfall are the bugs in the vegetable display case.

First time here. Ordered mini seafood combo. Came with 2 pieces of fish jun, 2 pieces of shrimp tempura, one scoop rice, one mandoo, and one slice of pancake. My two sides were chapchae and potato salad. Fish jun was soft with a mushy consistency. Would have liked the batter to be a bit more crisp. The shrimp tempura was crispy. The chapchae was simple to say the least with just julienned carrots sans the green onion, which would have made it taste better. The potato salad is unlike those of other Korean BBQ places, as it was just roasted, cubed potatoes in a sweet, tangy, and runny mayo or mayo like sauce. As my friend out it not just tastes like French fries. The mandoo was okay but I enjoyed the pancake most from the entire plate. Three stars for service and ambience as the cashier was friendly and the place is still new and clean with awesome colored chairs and table.

Meat Jun is good, they give a lot, and the restaurant is bright and clean! :) Our new favorite Korean food restaurant. Location is hard to find though. Look for it behind Zippy's Dillingham.

This new restaurant rocks! The food is just as their name says, "Ono". Our family always loves trying new places and Korean food has a special place in our hearts. For years now we've been tired of paying outrageous prices at any of the "Yummy" franchises with their in consistent mediocre food and have been wishing their was something better in Kalihi. Ono Korean BBQ is the answer to our prayers. This will be our "go to" place now whenever we need a quick Korean fix and don't want to fight our way into town to our other favorite spot. Quick rundown: -Prices are reasonable for the amount they give. 4 reg plates and 1 mini came out to roughly $55. Fed 6 of us with a lot still left over. -Plates we tried were: spicy pork plate, kalbi plate, meat jun plate, chicken katsu plate, and the Ono BBQ combo plate. All were delicious and everything was our favorite. -Banchan is pretty authentic. Just ask my Korean granny! -Friendly staff. Again, this will be our new spot. A must try!!!

Best meat jun for a Korean bbq take out restaurant. The chicken katsu was also better than most places I've tried. The sides are fresh and tasty. A very nice and clean restaurant. My new favorite spot for when I want Korean take out.....which is about 1-2 times a week.
