So I decided to get a quick Thai food fix at Little Cafe Siam. I noticed the Special for the Green Curry and two Spring rolls for $9,39. The only problem after receiving my order was the size of the Spring rolls were more like two inch Pee Pee rolls. I asked the girl are you sure the your only suppose to give me two? Because it was so frckn small, nope...all I got was a sorry that's the size they made. Well I'm sorry too Little Cafe Siam because your car is rolling backwards down the hill and I ain't stopping it, down to 2Stars. yelp.com/biz_photos/litt…

yummy yummy yummy! very authentic and homey food. i was sick for a few days while i was in honolulu and needed some chicken soup. their CHICKEN LONG RICE was the perfect cure. the broth is REAL broth, not just bullion... well seasoned with pepper (black pepper is a great antimicrobial!) and just the right amount of chicken and noodles. loved it. in fact as soon as i finished my bowl, i turned around and got another one to take back to the hotel. also love their menu. CHICKEN ADOBO, KALUA PIG... i just wish i had more time in honolulu to try all their food!

My cousins and I literally stood in front of this place looking at the menu for about 10 minutes deciding what to get. I've had a thai craving for about a month and since my cousins were feeling like eating thai as well, we ate here. We had a hard time choosing cause we kept looking from the left menu to the right. Then someone recommended the best selling item, which is the green chicken curry. My cousin and I decided to get that, but for the sides I took the jasmine rice with the summer rolls and my cousin had the same rice but she went with the bbq chicken satay. My other cousin ordered the pad thai noodles with shrimp. We also had thai iced tea. The chicken curry had a good amount of spice to it. I love anything spicy and this was a home run. My cousin who had the same thing as me thought it was bomb. There was a peanut sauce that came with the Bbq chicken and it was a good mix. I even added some of the peanut sauce to my rice with the curry and that was a good combination. The summer rolls I had came with 2 pieces that was stuffed but it was about as big as my ring finger. I was kind of expecting the summer rolls to be longer like how the filipino lumpias are but It's cool. The curry hit the spot. The pad thai, according to my cousin he loved it, but he only ate half to bring his mom some since she didn't eat yet. The thai iced tea was good but I tasted better. I would honestly come back here again if I feel like eating thai that day. Just some minor dislikes but I recommend.

This rating would be higher because of the quantity of the food, but after frequently visiting this restaurant within a year I've seen a lot of inconsistencies that made me not want to visit anymore. When I type inconsistencies I mean with employees who are either really nice to non-verbal and from having two pieces of barbecue chicken with sweet-and-sour sauce to having one sad piece with no sauce. Today topped the cake off for me. I am a first timer with mango with sweet sticky rice. I ate about half of it and I'm loving it so far. Right when I was about to eat another piece what do I see on my mango? A worm friend. I believe that I can end this review now since I'm sure the word "worm" says enough.

I love the combo #7 here which is papaya salad with a piece of fried chicken and sticky rice. I like to get it medium hot. Even though they ask mild or spicy, I always say medium spicy because the spicy is too spicy. Sometimes they put shrimp sometimes not, sometimes they ask. But nevertheless it's delicious! This last time they piled it high yum!

I don't normally eat at the ala moana food court but when I do, I eat at little cafe Siam. Ha! I'm obsessed with the green papaya salad that they make fresh in front of you. I get it super spicy and its yum. Everything else is okay and for some reason I am always craving Thai. The service leaves much to be desired but it's fast find so that's what you get.

There was a piece of metal in my chicken from the papaya salad combo. I ate one piece of chicken already before I found the metal. I thought there was something hard in the first piece. What the f*** last time I eat there.

The portions here are filling and for the price I can agree on. I had the Thai yellow curry, with it being mild..it didn't have any spice to it. With the amount of stars that I gave , I did enjoy the pineapple fried rice! It was flavorful and delicious compared to the curry. Wishing the red curry which my bf got wasn't even good, yellow was decent. If your in for dessert, you must try the lychee rice pudding ! Very good and fresh to the taste

Worst Thai I've Ever Had - pad see ew was terrible and didn't taste like it! So bad don't waste your money!!!!

I'll start with the props: -Really nice, friendly workers here! -Convenient location right in the Makai Food Court of the mall -Their thai iced tea and lemongrass tea are sweet but yummy Okay that being said, I really really should have trusted my fellow yelpers and not eaten here. I know that. Anything below a 4-star on yelp is cause for caution. But I was out shopping with a gf and she wanted to eat at the food court and I had a serious thai craving and you know how those wicked thai cravings are LOL. So I figure I'd check it out firsthand. Why not? I got free sample shots of the thai iced tea and lemongrass tea and both are good. And I tried to be safe and ordered a veggie pad see ew - simple noodles that are usually always solid no matter which Thai place you go to. To start off with, it took 15 minutes. For mall food!! Then when I got it, they gave me a plate with only noodles mixed with a green leafy veggie. What?? I asked them and they said "Oh sorry we forgot the tofu." So vegetarians beware - it's not the usual veggie noodles with carrots and mushrooms etc. So, okay fine, tofu is good enough.. I mean what can you expect from mall food? I sat down to eat (my gf is already half way done with her ramen by now), and the sauce for the pad see ew is JUST soy sauce. Sadly, the worst pad see ew I've ever eaten. And $9 something to boot. Ouch. I'm def hoping their other dishes there are better but honestly, I def will never find out. From now on I'm sticking with Shirokiya when I'm at the mall.

For quick and delicious Thai food at mall - I always go with this place. It may be just me but every time I come here - "to go" plates portions seem to be larger and more than "for here" plates. Still, I always get the 2 choice plate. Half Brown Rice and Half Pad Thai Noodles with Yellow Chicken Curry in its own separate container and the BBQ chicken with their sweet chili sauce. The Ala Moana Mall magazines have really good food deals and coupons at the back too. Like the Buy 1 get 1 free Chicken Satay Combo coupon. I've had that too and that is also really tasty, healthy, filling and above all a good deal.

I've seen this place at the Ala Moana food court for sometime now, but never took the time to try it. Finally, one day while reading the newspaper, I find a coupon for a "buy one, get one free" deal! Well, the Chinese in me got the best of me........and one day I decided to give this place a try. What can I say about this place........well, for one thing, when you get a free meal, how can you go wrong???? I took my coupon & told the lady - "I'll take one of this" - and ended up getting the #2 - Thai Satay Combo - ($9.55). What's in the Thai Satay Combo? You get a few spring rolls with peanut sauce. Two pieces of grilled chicken that had some kind of coconut marinade, and a white rice noodle that kinda looks like Vietnamese noodles with lots of veggies - (cut cucumbers, shredded carrots, basil, beansprouts), & it comes with a sauce for the noodle dish. Overall, not bad for fast food Thai.........but nothing to go "Whoo Hoo" about.......... I'd give this place a solid "3" for the food, but I had to bump it up an extra point for the free extra meal. :) If you're at the Ala Moana Shopping center food court, check 'em out..........

Located in the Ala Moana SC Food Court, with all the other pricey restaurants, I decided to try Little Cafe Siam since I had a coupon to buy one get one free. I usually don't give really bad reviews, unless I was treated unreasonably badly, see unsanitary food conditions or find some kind of foreign object in my meal that totally grosses me out to think how'd it get there. But with this experience, I don't think I'll eat here again: BBQ Satay Chicken satay combo w/spring rolls - 2 stars - $9 regular price, but with the coupon of buy one, get one free, it came out to $4.50 each. However, the noodles weren't too fresh, and it was very basic with 2 pieces of chicken sticks and 2 springrolls. But why the 2 stars? I was eating the spring roll, and bit into something really hard. I spit it out to figure out if it was maybe a star anise or an ingredient they added, but as I added water to figure out what it was - I found a ROCK in my springroll! (see picture). I can't imagine how a rock would be in a spring roll, except for making it in unsanitary conditions, and I totally lost my appetite after that. It was at the end of my meal, since I was saving the spring roll for last, so I didn't report it to the owner, and even if I see another coupon that brings out the pake in me, it won't tempt me to eat from there again. Too bad it wasn't a diamond. I'd be happier to imagine it came from a ring instead and would have scored the jackpot.

One item for $8.36 (no drink included) is crazy. Can't wait for this place to go out of business...please

This place has always been here but I never looked twice at it growing up. Then I moved to the mainland and tried a lot of new foods, and now that I'm visiting decided to try it out. I got pad thai by itself (they make it in the back when you order it as the meal, it's not the ones that they give as a side dish). I got the veggie eggplant one, it's battered fried eggplant pieces, it was okay. Overall, it wasn't the most mindblowing pad thai or eggplant, but it was pretty nice to get in the food court, I'd get it again.

Combo plates are good deals especially if you add a scoop of rice to go with the curry for $1...delicious basil chicken and yellow curry.

Little Cafe Siam is my default place to go in the Ala Moana food court. The other day, I went in thinking GRYLT would be open. I had my heart set on GRYLT and a 45 min lunch break. When I saw that it wasnt open yet, I walked around the food court, searching for something that looked appetizing. I went back to Little Cafe Siam because I couldn't find anything..... I usually get the chicken satay. But I was feeling adventurous and got the 1 entree plate....which I dont think is on the menu. I chose the pineapple fried rice and red curry with duck. I've been to thailand and 1) I've never seen raisins in fried rice, 2) I've never seen duck in curry and 3) "Spicy" red curry here has nothing on Thai "spicy"....This isn't the most authentic thai restaurant, but it fits the bill I guess. It was a lot of food for less than $8.

Generally speaking, Thai food ain't cheap and especially inside Ala Moana. However, you can get quality Thai food for a decent price here and it's the best choice to choose from inside the food court.

  • Angela K.

Tell them to look up the definition of "vegetarian" because their vegetarian food is contaminated with fish or oyster sauce. Today 8/31/2014 just b4 17:30 I asked Angeline the shift manager About the "vegetarian green curry", the "pad thai vegetarian", and the "glass noodles salad vegetarian" and was told they wouldn't make it without sauce that has fish or oyster sauce in it. I don't know if they fry shrimp in the Same oil as their "vegetarian spring rolls". I'm also allergic to shellfish and they don't list ingredients. Painful!!!

    (1)
  • Allison M.

The best thing by far was the pineapple fried rice. We also got the mushroom tofu stir fry, which was all right-- spicy and flavorful but by no means authentic-- and the vegetarian spring rolls, which really weren't bad at all (although the sauce looked like duck sauce with a whole bunch of water added in). With a fountain drink, the total came to about $12. They give you really small portions of each thing, so this was certainly not a steal. We probably wouldn't come back here if we were given the choice, partly because the dining experience in the food court is so hectic and crazy. I also didn't like that they somehow had the yelp approval sticker despite a sub-3 star rating! No, Little Cafe Siam. People think you're just okay on yelp!

Ok so if u just got back from Thailand and are craving Thai food this is not the place to go. But if u are a North American holiday maker and want to eat a fast food type Thai food this is your place. This chicken is nothing close to chatuchak markets or even Suvarnabhumi airport food court. It's a version of Thai food is made with boneless chicken nuggets frozen shrimps and uncle bens rice. No no no. This again may sound like the T for a north American so just to clarify your expectations it's in a mall across from a jambajuice. Ok. And 9$ for a plate of chicken nuggets and a scoop of box rice is a bit much.

Who would have thought that ala moana food court food can taste half way decent. This is where Little Cafe Siam comes in. Its tucked right next to the blazing steak place and honestly I rather have Thai food over the grade D beef stuff they serve. The plate of choice when ordering at Little Cafe Siam is the Papaya Salad, no rice, extra salad. It comes with two pieces of very nice and flavorful seasoned chicken. I normally get it extra spicy which gives it a great kick. They make the papaya salad in front of you which is great. You actually get to see whats going into your food vs it just coming out prepared and ready to go. One gripe I do have, for the 3-4 times I have ordered it, the portions changes greatly which depends on who makes it and how many orders of papaya salad you buy at one time. All in all all the papaya salad if very authentic in terms of what you get when you go to thailand etc. Taste wise, i think its great taste for what you get in at the food court and you got me as a customer!

Grabbed lunch at the Ala Moana food court one day & i wanted to try something different. I love Thai food, so i decided to try this place out. I never had Thai fast food before. I ordered a 2 item combo that came with phad thai, 2 spring rolls, & thai bbq chicken. It was kind of pricey! $10+ for a combo. The phad thai needed more flavor & possibly more things mixed into it. The spring rolls were good! Thr chicken didn't have much flavor. I had to drench it in the sauce. But i guess if you're craving thai food & you're in a rush, then this will have to do.

My ginger chicken and brown rice was tasty and appetizing, portion size was good, only a bit pricier compare to the other eateries at the food court, 7.79 for a mini curry bowl, hope they could lower the price a little bit.

it's fine for food court food. portions are big, it's cheap. good variety.... but it's food court quality. i work in the area, so it's not bad for a quick eat during lunch hour. the tom yum soup isn't authentic... at all.. well nothing is, but it's thai-esque

  • Nat W.

The only thing decent about this place is their Thai iced tea. Nothing else. Their pad Thai was super dry, blend and overcooked. Basil chicken was was too spicy for me. Overpriced for such poor quality food. Do not waste your money here.

    (2)
  • Andrey Y.

The nicest thing about this place is that it is cheap! For the mall that is.. There is a decent selection, and I think you need at least two entrees to be satisfied. The pineapple fried rice was honestly better than the 2 actual entrees I got, spicy mushroom tofu and green curry. Food freshness is not great.. Taste also subpar unless you're really hungry ;)

  • Yena W.

Little Cafe Siam is off on the end of the food court ring not really in a prominent spot, and I'm sure people pass by it either not noticing or thinking 'Hmm mall food court Thai? Nah pass' but that will be an egregious mistake. They have it set up in a plate lunch type meal option where you can get a two or three item combo with all the classic Thai options like yellow, green, and red curries, spicy Thai basil chicken, lemongrass beef, papaya salad, pad thai, etc, in addition to just getting a dish ala carte. Everything, even the white rice (which is jasmine) is packed with flavor, and the spicy dishes are actually spicy, making your nose run and forehead bead with sweat. The iced tea is not the greatest but the fact that it and iced coffee are available in those slushy machines makes up for it and rounds out your incredibly flavored meal perfectly. Just don't expect to get all this awesomeness for mall food court prices though. Just like Mama's Spaghetti House, you will be in for a surprisingly delicious and generously portioned meal in a food court at just a couple dollars above average food court prices.

  • Michelle S.

For Thai food, this place didn't blow my mind, but was surprisingly good. It does need to be given some extra credit though, being that its in a mall food court. I had the Pad Thai, which wasn't the best I've ever had, but still tasty. The summer rolls are huge! The spring rolls, their dipping sauce, and the peanut sauce were all good and tasted like what you would expect from most Thai restaurants. The service was fast and the food came out hot.

Do not try thier seafood curry soup or hot dishes if you are not a Thai origin. I usually love Thai dishes but I couldn't eat them. Just cold dishes and salad is better option.

One of the many choices at the food court. Lots of flavor in their food! ~ Food ~ * Green Curry on Rice ( yelp.com/user_local_phot… ) I really like this!! Good pieces of meat! Tasty Curry! * Lemon Grass Beef ( yelp.com/user_local_phot… ) ~ Price ~ A mini bowl of curry and a medium soda was $9.15 Thats a beating on your wallet for a simple lunch. Overall... the food is tasty, service is not too bad, but I don't like the price. In the food court I can get more food for $9.15, but at least it is something different. I probably go back... eventually..

Came here for a quick bite to eat today with my dad. I've eaten here several times and I've enjoyed it. This time I got the #2 which is the BBQ Satay Combo. Comes with spring rolls, 3 BBQ chicken satays and vermicelli noodles. I've gotten this before and it's usually really good.. but this visit, the bowl was less than HALF filled and the BBQ chicken was dry and a little bland, imo. My dad was caught off-guard by the food portions as well since it wasn't a cheap meal and we usually get more food for our buck. I don't know if they reduced their portions or if my order was a fluke, but I was seriously disappointed.

  • Cherie Y.

Well beyond food court quality, like a few other kiosks at Ala Moana food court! Lemongrass beef is my favorite here. Also like the lemongrass iced tea, although some may think it's too sweet. Definitely get the pineapple fried rice. Red curry roasted duck and green curry chicken won't disappoint you, but won't surprise you either, just typical Thai curries. Overall, bold flavors, generous portions of entrees, and consistency over the two dozen times I've been here deserve 4 stars; the missing star for its slightly higher prices than expected and its pricing strategy. A one-entree meal costs ~$7.50, two-entree ~$9.50, three-entree ~$10.50. Changing it to $6.50, $8.50, $10 would have earned itself a lot more customers in my opinion.

If you come here, I don't recommend you ordering the Thai Fried Chicken because it is just regular fried chicken with the sweet chili sauce on the side. I have tasted better thai fried chicken. Go to Phu Ket Thai (mililani & ward locations). They have the best thai food. Anyways, I don't plan to taste anything else from their. I just wanted to let you seekers for Thai food, I DO NOT RECOMMEND the THAI FRIED CHICKEN!!!! Check out the other place I mentioned. Alright good luck finding a great Thai food place

DONT EAT HERE. A a friend of mines that worked here says the cooks in the back don't wash their hands preparing the food. Many of the food is reheat from the previous day. The food is just gross.

  • Mark M.

I've only ever had one item here: the summer rolls. Sometimes that's all you need though. They're fresh and healthy and although the price has gone up in recent years it still tastes the same. One day I'll be brave enough to order something different, one day those chicken satay sticks will be mine.

It's late, we're starving and made up our minds to head to Lahaina Chicken. We're walking along and bam, the food displayed in fast food style trays immediately stopped us from our tracks. The food looked so appetizing, fresh and another bam... What do I see at the corner of my eye "people like me on YELP" sticker. They earned the badge and I couldn't say no. I ordered the lemon grass pork, spicy green chicken curry, and some beef with green beans all served with brown rice of my choice ($9 combo). I stuffed my face, while carefully evaluating whether this Thai place merit the sticker. Hell yeah, even mall food can be this good. The "spicy" is not overpowering, but definitely delicious even to stomach it without next day consequence. They serve 3 types of rice, white, brown and sticky. Pretty impressive for a little joint to have such a huge variety of choices. You can order ala carte and it's great if you're just into one specific dish, although I can't see why. If you eat at the mall, they serve all your choices on separate dish and plates so that your food is not all meshed together. Not so earth friendly, but a great way not to mess up the flavors of each dish. I see now that people are raving about their papaya salad, so I'm coming back for mo' baby!

Whenever I think of this place, my stomach starts turning and I start gagging a little. I've been here twice, and both experiences weren't that great for me...only the second time was a whole deal worse. Since I work really close to the mall, I often make a trek down to the food court, since there's a variety, because my indecisive self won't make a decision until I force myself into a line. On my first visit, I decided to go for the curry bowl with green chicken curry and sticky rice. The curry tasted very watered down and the chicken was kinda dry. It was meh....but I've definitely had better. I decided I'd give this place another try since you can't judge an establishment after one visit... Second visit...YUCK. I ordered the vegetarian pad thai, and all I could taste was the noodles drowned in oil, so basically I tasted the oil. The eggplant that was on top of the noodles were drowned in oil as well since it was fried in some kinda bread batter that overpowered the eggplant. I couldn't eat the eggplant after one bite, and I couldn't finish half the noodles. I think my coworkers were making faces since they could smell the oil from my pad thai. Little Cafe Siam failed to impress me. Next time I make my trek down to the food court, I'll make sure to steer clear of this place.

It was so good I had lunch here twice during my short trip. Their pad thai with tofu is really good. It's less sweet than other places tend to make it, and there is a distinct hint of fish sauce in the noodles. Squeeze a bit of lime on top and you have a delicious plate of noodle goodness! It even comes with two skewers of chicken satay that have a great yellow curry flavor. Unfortunately mine were a little dry and thus forgettable. The second time, I just got the papaya salad. We had tried the medium-spiciness and wanted to go a little more on the spicy side this time. The woman behind the station replied "You're going to miss me after you have this!" and proceeded to pile on the chili. She put about 5 or 6 whole Thai chili peppers in the bowl! I was breathing fire by the time I was done, but I loved heat and the flavors of the hand-crushed salad. They make each serving to order, and it really makes a difference! I will definitely come back here if I am ever at the Ala Moana center again!

Lunch time: Green papaya salad with Thai BBQ chicken and sticky rice. You can get it mild or spicy. I got spicy :). Ok so I thought I could do spicy. I mean...i could, i just started sweating and my lips ended up burning after eating the red chilli pepper. i love papaya salad and this place makes it different from any other places I've eaten AND bff's mom. it has chopped tomatoes in it and string beans. I mean, no complaint. it was delicious. This place is convenient as it is in the Ala Moana Shopping center. 4 stars for the food...but I would put a 2 for "meh, i've experienced better" for the staff. The manager served me. She was so "in a rush" even there was no crowd. I felt pressured when I could not decide on what to order. HELLO! isn't that a good sign? they should be stoked that it is hard to decide as EVERYTHING is yummy there. but i guess they beg to differ. that's all. I will go there again, hopefully "sassy manager" is not there.

We got to the mall early and quickly did all our shopping before heading to the food court .... after reading the Yelp reviews we decided to try it here at Little Cafe Siam. We ordered a variety of things between the three of us ...the green veggie curry, duck red curry, basil chix, garlic shrimp, fried calamari, spring rolls, summer rolls, and green papaya salad. Our server Anna was really nice and it was cool to see her make our green papaya by crushing down all the fresh ingredients by hand in the mortar & pestle thing ,,,, everything was good except the calamari. If you like things spicy make sure to ask for the sauce caddy - it has chili's in fish sauce, vinegar jalapenos, ground chili flakes, and red chili sauce - yummmm !!! Note: we could not finish everything & so Anna was nice about packing what we did not finish "to go"... that was awesome !!!

:) If you're at the Ala Moana Shopping center food court, check 'em out..........

yummy yummy yummy! very authentic and homey food. i was sick for a few days while i was in honolulu and needed some chicken soup. their CHICKEN LONG RICE was the perfect cure. the broth is REAL broth, not just bullion... well seasoned with pepper (black pepper is a great antimicrobial!) and just the right amount of chicken and noodles. loved it. in fact as soon as i finished my bowl, i turned around and got another one to take back to the hotel. also love their menu. CHICKEN ADOBO, KALUA PIG... i just wish i had more time in honolulu to try all their food!

it's fine for food court food. portions are big, it's cheap. good variety.... but it's food court quality. i work in the area, so it's not bad for a quick eat during lunch hour. the tom yum soup isn't authentic... at all.. well nothing is, but it's thai-esque

The only thing decent about this place is their Thai iced tea. Nothing else. Their pad Thai was super dry, blend and overcooked. Basil chicken was was too spicy for me. Overpriced for such poor quality food. Do not waste your money here.

Painful!!!

    (4)

  • Sasha Y.

My ginger chicken and brown rice was tasty and appetizing, portion size was good, only a bit pricier compare to the other eateries at the food court, 7.79 for a mini curry bowl, hope they could lower the price a little bit.

I've only ever had one item here: the summer rolls. Sometimes that's all you need though. They're fresh and healthy and although the price has gone up in recent years it still tastes the same. One day I'll be brave enough to order something different, one day those chicken satay sticks will be mine.

  • Danielle B.

For a place in a mall food court, it is mediocre at best. Food had been sitting too long and the summer roll was not edible. From the reviews I had believed this place was outside of the mall, but it is just like any other food court stop. Eat at your own risk....

Very awesome that the cashier was able to ask the cook to make a couple special order summer rolls for me! Reasonably priced for very generously sized pieces filled with delicious shrimp, cilantro, mint and noodles with a great peanut sauce for dipping. Fresh and bright, had one for a light dinner and enjoyed the second on my flight back home. The other dishes offered looked yummy as well, especially the curry. Friendly staff! :)

Not only is this convenient, it's good too! And they claim they don't use MSG!! +1 brownie point! They offer Thai and Vietnamese cuisine in the Ala Moana food court Makai Market. They use pretty fresh ingredients, especially for their green papaya salad. :) For a psuedo-fast food Thai place, they have a really tasty TOM YUM soup. (You don't have to order a huge cauldron of it, you can get a smaller container to go!) The Thai iced coffee and Thai iced tea are both wonderful. :) It's so awesome that it's in Ala Moana. Nothing beats Thai iced tea on a hot day, especially when you're trying to get some shopping done. Shopping can be hard work! Anyway, this place isn't the most 'authentic' Thai/Vietnamese cuisine, but it works! 4 stars for the tom yum, iced coffee/tea, and for the convenient location! :)

I ate at Little Cafe Siam the two times I visited the Ala Moana Mall and ordered the same thing; the #3 consisting of papaya salad, two pieces of BBQ chicken and a side of sticky rice ($7.89). The papaya salad is made to order and although I ordered it spicy both times, it wasn't the usual "Thai spicy" I'm used to. However, the papaya salad was decent enough in taste. The BBQ chicken tasted flavorless the first time but had more flavor the second time around. Overall, the meal was filling but wasn't great. I tried their Thai iced tea (medium/$3.75) but found it too creamy and sweet. I loved their lemongrass iced tea though...it tasted fresh and I could really taste the lemongrass flavor.

Excited to quell our weekly Thai craving, I ordered a three item combo plate for my son and I to share. The vegetarian green curry had a nice kick to it spicewise, but other than that, it was watery and flavorless with very little coconutty creaminess. The pad thai was very bland too and the noodles had an undercooked, dry texture to it. Maybe if I ordered it to order (not off the steam table) it would be much better. The chicken with basil was inedible...it was greasy (actually lardy) tasting and had a very funky not-so-fresh poultry odor that was very off-putting. The spring rolls were served up nicely with fresh lettuce and a tasty dipping sauce, but alas, these were also oozing oil and flavorless. I think I'm spoiled when it comes to Thai food as I eat at several outstanding Thai restaurants on Oahu, so my bar is pretty high. I guess for a food court place, their offerings are decent. The three entree combo with a side order of jasmine rice was $12, not too bad for generous servings. But if you're a real Thai food junkie looking for your fix, I think you'll be disappointed and wish you ate something else at the food court.

Hubby decided to try this today, and I found myself unable to stop from picking off his plate. Specifically, it was the yellow chicken curry. Oh so good! I think it had lime in it, because it had this bite to it that was delicious. Perfect over rice. He also ordered BBQ chicken, but that had absolutely no flavor at all. Yuck. Four stars to the yellow chicken curry.

This place has it all really.. and it proves I'm not just a snarky reviewer. After spending half a billion dollars at Williams Sonoma (which is like two items) with the husband we needed some lunch and instead of fighting to park again we decided to just eat at the mall. The gravitational pull of the noodle place was drawing him in but I managed to drag him to the Thai place. I had the spicy green curry, spicy basil chicken with sticky rice and spring rolls; he had the same except with lemongrass beef vice the basil chicken. The curry and spring rolls were great for the price and how quick it was. The spicy basil chicken had more lemongrass than his beef and my basil chicken could have had more basil and I'm used to it being made with crunchy green beans but again, all in all, it was good. I think someone just boo boo'd the recipes; maybe another day I'll see if they're better but by no stretch of the imagination were they bad. They also had Thai coffee and tea, I love both. The tea was great. They also had summer rolls with peanut sauce, they looked fantastic but I'd already ordered the spring rolls. Next time, little siam!

YOU GET MORE THAN YOU PAY FOR! i used to love Bangkok Chef Nuuanu. it was convenient, reasonable, and fast! you really got a bang-for-the-buck! then they branched out and got bigger...all of a sudden the food was prepared differently, and not in a good way. someone recommended Little Cafe Siam. i had walked by multiple times, but never gave it a thought. a group of us tried it a month ago and we LOVED it! i went back yesterday, and the food was the same...delicious, reasonable, and worth the trek to the Makai Marketplace. this is possibly the only thai restaurant that doesn't charge extra for sticky rice. the portions are generous, so two of us can share a 2-entree plate! we like to order the sticky rice, green chicken curry and beef stir fry! the plate is just around $8 with tax, but again, the portions are quite generous. we also have tried their green papaya salad that they make only when ordered. it's almost like sub-way, except you need to exercise caution when asking for more or less of the salad ingredients. the side order is just shy of $6. if you like thai food, are in the shopping mall and want something yummy and affordable...Little Cafe Siam is your place! For the price, value, taste and location, this is a winner! Combo kill! The first time I ate here was yesterday, and probably my 1000^nth trip to the Ala Moana Food Court. Luckily, I picked a good one! I had the glass noodle salad, and I am OH-so-impressed by the quality and quantity of the ingredients, as well as the presentation they managed to stuff into a styrofoam bento box. It came with lumpia cut in pieces, with some big green leafy lettuces to wrap them in, as well as a little container of yummy and sweet sauce (just the way I like it). The egg rolls were a bit soft on the outside instead of crisp, but tasted yummy anyway. The glass noodle salad was just what I wanted! They garnished with a lime wedge and so much fresh cilantro I don't know how they afford it! It had minced chicken and at least 6 shrimp, fresh red bell pepper, and lots of other very good ingredients. The whole meal was only $8! I also got a thai ice tea, which I didnt expect to be good because it came from a machine. BUT GOOD IT WAS. Better than I've had anywhere in Hawaii. I really can't believe how hard it's been to find good thai tea. Vietnamese restaurants don't seem to have it. And those specialty drink kiosks in the food court are terrible. Coffee or Tea, which my friend swears by, isn't that great because the boba is awful. Luckily, this one comes without boba so the flavor is saved! $2,79

It's definitely not the best Thai food around, but for food court fare it's not bad at all. We tried the Hainanese chicken with rice, papaya salad, BBQ chicken, and pad krapao and it was all pretty good. Don't forget to try their ice coffee and ice tea!

After a long flight in from California, I checked into the hotel and was starving! In desperation, I decided to seek out lunch--or was it dinner with the jet lag?--in the mall next door. Desperation hit and I picked up food in the mall's food court. Amidst the chaos of the crowded food court, I found a Little Cafe Siam with it's "People Love Us on Yelp" sticker. I wasn't sure how to take this--normally these stickers (and fellow Yelpers) don't steer me wrong, but in a food court?!?! I ordered the two item combo, with pat Thai and yellow curry chicken. Wow, there was a lot of food for only $8! The pat Thai (or pad Thai as I'm used to seeing it) was a little dry, but flavorful, with lots of green onion. The yellow curry was also pretty flavorful, with big pieces of chicken and lots of lemongrass. Service left much to be desired, however, as they plopped the food on the plate cafeteria style. Sure, it wasn't the best Thai food I'd every had, but it was pretty decent considering it came from a mall food court. If you're in a pinch and don't have time to wander Honolulu's shopping district for lunch, this isn't a bad option--and the price is certainly right.

One of the worst Thai food I have ever had, granted it was a food court restaurant. Their Pad Thai was blend but their roast duck and tofu dishes were extremeley salty! It was so salty that we had to throw them away. It was a complete waste of time and money.

This place is located in the Makai Food Court in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Location-wise it's great because it's walking distance from my work... I give them one star for location and for the fresh green papaya salad they make in front of you, but...I must say, I doubt they use fresh ingredients when it comes to the food that is cooked in kitchen. The very last time I went there, I ordered their Shrimp Pad Thai. The I started eating the shrimp, and noticed immediately that they were mushy. Not even 5 minutes after I started to eat, I broke out in hives all over my face, and it spread down my neck, and chest within minutes. The only time I get this kind of reaction from shrimp is if the shrimp is not fresh. Fortunately, I was able to take some anti-histamine. I will not be ordering from here again.

I've eaten here before, but hadn't been back for a while because I wasn't happy with the food quality. Unfortunately, it seems like that hasn't changed. For lunch, I ordered the Pad Thai noodles, basil chicken, and ginger chicken. The Pad Thai was dried out and clumped together, and rather bland. The basil chicken tasted like it had been sitting for a while too. The ginger chicken was OK, except that some of the chicken didn't seem to be cooked completely through. The women at the counter who served me seemed bored and didn't say much to me at all, not even a "hello" or "thank you." I felt like they didn't want me to be there. Don't worry, I won't be back.

I remember when I first ate here, I was still in my hardcore vegetarian phase. Biting into one of their deep fried springs rolls almost made me puke cause it tasted like it was dipped in a vat of fish oil. Being a Filipino who's had the consumption of both bottled and body patis, you think I would be able to handle?! Am I sam? No, Cafe Siam...Sthh'UCKA! Many years of oceanic tide and stacks of steak later, I figure I'd try them again. Though eating at Bankok Chef did leave me a little disappointed, I did like their chicken sateh sticks. MMM! So at Little Cafe Siam I got a few of those and a couple spring rolls. Fresh spring rolls to me have always looked like giant insect larvae at bay. See-thru skin, veiny and obong. These spring rolls may not be up to par for some of you seasoned savvy foodsters but it had left me content. Mint leaves, rice noodles, shrimp and that mildly funky rice paper it's rolled in. Something cold and clean! Perfect for after working out or when simply in the mood for a light meal. Their chicken sateh sticks were okay. It reminded me of something my Nepalese friend taught me to cook: grilled and gunked on with cumin and curry powder. Though sadly, I think I like my version better. The secret? Garlic salt. 3 Stars Little Cafe Siam in the Ala Mo food court Happy (or unhappy) Friday the 13th, people!

Hahah!!! I came here a million times in 1 week. The papaya salad is soooo good but you know what?? Their shaved ice is so friggin good!!! They put syrup and coconut milk in top and add jack fruit, hearts of palm, and longan. Mmmm so refreshing. I prefer this shave ice to the traditional stuff believe it or not!

Pretty good and inexpensive Thai food. Some of their dishes aren't actually Thai, for example the beef noodle soup and the vermicelli noodle salad thing. Those are more Vietnamese than Thai. I like the lemongrass beef...although I've never had anything like that in Thailand before. Maybe that's one of their own creations. So even if it doesn't look or taste like real Thai food, I still eat it when I miss being home in Thailand.

For a place in a mall food court, it is mediocre at best. Food had been sitting too long and the summer roll was not edible. From the reviews I had believed this place was outside of the mall, but it is just like any other food court stop. Eat at your own risk....

    (2)
  • Kate C.

:) If you're at the Ala Moana Shopping center food court, check 'em out..........

yummy yummy yummy! very authentic and homey food. i was sick for a few days while i was in honolulu and needed some chicken soup. their CHICKEN LONG RICE was the perfect cure. the broth is REAL broth, not just bullion... well seasoned with pepper (black pepper is a great antimicrobial!) and just the right amount of chicken and noodles. loved it. in fact as soon as i finished my bowl, i turned around and got another one to take back to the hotel. also love their menu.

Painful!!!

For a place in a mall food court, it is mediocre at best. Food had been sitting too long and the summer roll was not edible. From the reviews I had believed this place was outside of the mall, but it is just like any other food court stop. Eat at your own risk....

    (2)
  • Kate C.

[the service is dodgey, but who cares!]

I always order the papaya salad w/ chicken and sticky rice. It isn't the best Thai food around, but it hits the spot when you're craving Thai food while shopping at Ala Moana. Oh and it's cheap too!

It's definitely not the best Thai food around, but for food court fare it's not bad at all. We tried the Hainanese chicken with rice, papaya salad, BBQ chicken, and pad krapao and it was all pretty good. Don't forget to try their ice coffee and ice tea!

Impressively good Thai food, especially considering you're at the Ala Moana Food Court. I don't even remember everything we ordered. I know I got one of their curries. Probably the best bang for your buck at Ala Moana and decent Thai food if you can cope with food court atmosphere.

Pineapple fried rice is on POINT! Curried deliciousness with hunks of juicy pineapple. Bless. The vegetarian spring rolls, on the other hand, dropped this down from 5 stars to 4. Just okay.

We only ordered a few satay sticks here to try and this place was way better than we expected. We had already eaten and just wanted a snack so we didn't order more but based on what we had we sure would!

This cafe/restaurant is in the food court area of the Ala Moana mall. Oh the food I so good and the portions are big. The price is very reasonable. Oh, BTW if it says 'spicy' it really is. It's thai spicy. Try it out!!

Out of your Makai Food Court options at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, try Cafe Siam. I liked the Combo #3, Green Papaya Salad, which comes with Thai BBQ Chicken, and sticky rice. Their ice coffee is good too.
