I love Kozo Sushi. The food is delicious, affordable and fast! I never wait more then 5 min, even when they're busy! The staff at the Kahala location are very polite and friendly. I have no complaints! :)

Absolute worst service ever. I've been to this location numerous times and have never been treated too well, but this was the worst. An elderly woman with glasses was working the counter and gave us the wrong order. We came back in a matter of minutes after and politely explained the issue, but she shook her head, grumbled, like it was our fault and exclaimed "once you leave we do not accept an order back", nor are refunds possible or any sort of exchange. So basically if you order your food, but receive something completely different from your ordered, you just have to deal with it. Thanks for the eye opener rude old woman at kozo. We won't be returning and will warn anyone who does.

First off the staff is very unfriendly. I can ignore that since it's not a sit down resturant. Then she gets my order wrong and charges me the difference and can't even tell the next person in line to wait a moment while she fixes our transaction. Finally get to eat and the rice is warm. Ewwww! I know its not premium sushi but the rice should NEVER be warm.

We ate it too fast to take a pic. A great place for a snack. The spicy ahi roll is really good but we also got a tuna roll, it was literally canned tuna (a little disappointing)

I've always come to this Kozo to pick up lunch or a quick bit to eat. They have since expanded the menu a lot to include a lot of different specialty rolls, but still have the good assortment of bento boxes with nigiri sushi and handrolls. I really enjoy the handrolls here because they make them to order and they are fairly cheap and taste yummy. I also like the service here, its fast and polite.

If you're looking for reasonably priced sushi in Hawaii, then this is certainly a great option to try. There are plenty of menu choices and options available, and the service generally tends to be good and quick. Personally, I just prefer to go with the Kappa Maki (Cucumber Rolls). Food is fresh and delicious!

The sushi was ok, not really into BBQ chips on my sushi. I had to try it though, cause I do like BBQ chips and sushi, just apparently not together.

Another great place like the King st. store. Very consistent and always fresh.

I went there yesterday at 5:00, and no lines! A parking opened right in front of the store. I think the Gods were smiling. The customer service was very young, but very professional and courteous. I ordered a Philly roll which is Salmon, cream cheese , and a California roll which has crab, cucumber. The total was less than $10. and I had two six piece trays which looked and tasted excellent!!! Shared it with Mom and sis. Thanks Kozo Sushi.

Mainly a take out restaurant, they do have some stools at their little counter. The service is quick, if you want to order platters of sushi, give them advance notice. Allow extra time during holidays.

You can take one look at me and tell that I'm not a connoisseur of sushi, but I have two friends who are. Inarizushi, Makizushi, Futozushi, Nigrinzushi, Oshizushi - they know it all. And they will even engage in sushi eating contests (why do boys do things like this? Sigh). When I'm with them I've found it best to stay in the background and do my nails. "Hey Cheryl," one will ask. "What's your favorite sushi?" I will reply "California roll" and watch the disdain seep over their sadden faces. I don't do this to tease them. California rolls really are my favorite. (So sue me, ok?) The truth is, connoisseur or not, I love all sushi. In fact, you might say I've never met a sushi I didn't like. And this brings us to the subject of our local Honolulu sushi chain, Zozo Sushi. You won't find the fancy sushi here - at least I don't think you will. What you will discover is an attractive, clean store selling delicious sushi, moderately price and prepared quickly. What more could you ask? Not a lot really. Recently on our talk thread, a Yelper from California asked out our local way of live. I made the observation that when you are invited to a party or simply to have dinner at someone's house, you should bring real food - i.e. not a bag of potato chips. And one item you can't go wrong with is a sushi plate -- it will always be accepted gratefully. And this is where Kozo Sushi is so useful. You can, of course, take a chance and look for sushi at a supermarket or take-out restaurant, but (1) there is no guarantee you will find any and (2) if you do find a plate you don't know how long it has sat in the cooler. Kozo has their menu on-line. It's so easy to place a phone order, give them a half hour or so to make the sushi, then pick up and you are good to go. Regarding party plates, they range in size from 30 pcs. ($16.99) to 98 pcs ($43.99). They also have side dishes (Miso soup, Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura), and yes even spam musubi (how could they not!). Want a little more food? You can also get donburi's of several varieties, hot or cold soba or udon, and even bento's - with sushi, salad, and teri or fried chicken. So, you can get a complete lunch from Kozo, not just sushi platters. Most, but not all, restaurants and tables inside where you can enjoy your meal. I've been ordering from Kozo for decades, no matter where I have lived on Oahu. I've never had a disappointing order. So recently when I received an invitation to have dinner at a friend's house, the Kahala Kozo Sushi came to mind. From their on-line menu I chose the Sukeroku plate (24 pcs of fotomaki and 12 pcs of Inari) for $19.50 and placed my phone order. I told the friendly young woman who answered the phone I would be there in 30 minutes. I arrived 40 minutes later, just to give them a little extra time, but this was not needed. My order was ready upon arrival. It was a great hit at my friend's house. The Kahala Kozu might be a little difficult to find on your first visit, because contrary to it's appearance on the map, it's not quite in the mall. (Also the address listed in Yelp is incorrect. The correct address is 4618 Kilauea, not 4211 Waialae, which is the Mall address). Here's how you find it if you approach from Waialae Ave. Turn right on Kahala Ave., drive just past Bank of Hawaii, and take the first little street on your right. This will pass between McDonald's and Bank of Hawaii. On your left there is a little strip of restaurants. Kozo is the last one before the street leads into the mall parking lot. There I've said the dreading word: Parking! (Sigh) Yes, it can be difficult at Kahala. But you know this. So allow yourself a little extra time and don't stress out. While you are searching for that elusive spot, it might help to shout this mantra: "Kozo parking, Kozo parking, I see you! I see you!" Will this really help you get a parking spot quicker? Of course not. But it will give you something to do until that spot magically opens up before your astonished eyes. Then you are home free. Pick up your sushi and go merrily on your way. Just don't be a nerd, and eat half the plate in your car before you reach your friend's house!

This is actually for the kozo sushi in koko marina. I hate to write this review since I've been a loyal kozo sushi lover since I was a kid, but waiting more than 20 minutes for 2 spam rolls and a crab cucumber roll, and having 4 other orders finished before mine when they ordered after me is seriously ridiculous. I won't be coming back to this kozo sushi again. Get things organized, and be more efficient.

I really like Kozo Sushi for their convenience, speed, and decent sushi. This place doesn't really have much space to eat, but they do have a little. They are my go-to spot whenever I need a sushi platter to bring to a potluck or party. Although I like to cook, I sometimes don't have time. Enter Kozo Sushi! It's so easy! I just visit their website to review their menu, call them, and tell them what party platter I want. I tell them when I want to pick up my sushi and they always agree to that time! I've given them as little as 20 minutes and it's always ready when I come to pick it up! Parking is simple with lots of stall right in front and the staff is very efficient when it's time to pay.

I frequent this Kozo Sushi location often. Not only do I order take out but my family also orders sushi plates for holidays and special occasions. Kozo Sushi is great because I can get "Americanized" sushi. Let me explain. I am not a huge fan of raw fish and Kozo allows me to order sushi that I enjoy. My go-to's are the Tuna Roll, which is canned tuna, white rice and mayo wrapped in nori (seaweed) along with their Egg Maki. The Egg Maki consists of crab, cucumber, rice that is wrapped in a egg wrap. The employees are very nice and helpful. They also make the sushi is lightning speed! I love take-out sushi. It's so quick and easy. After living in LA, Chicago and NYC where I couldn't get quick to-go sushi, I am so happy to be near Kozo again. I would recommend Kozo to anyone looking for a quick lunch or dinner in the area!

I had to run a few errands in the Kahala area and needed to grab a quick lunch. I decided on Kozo sushi because it was convenient. I haven't eaten at a Kozo Sushi in almost 25 years. I ordered the comination sushi bento, which was one piece each of Tuna, ika, shrimp, salmon, tamago, masago, negitoro, Ikura, and Eel. I don't eat eggs, so I asked the employee if I could replace the egg - I was willing to accept *anything* other than the egg. She said it was an added fee to change / replace it. Forget it. The sushi was average for to-go sushi. The Ahi Tuna was a bit brown in color, but fresh salmon was orange-brown and tasted preserved. My biggest dissapointment was the Ikura (salmon eggs), which I saved for last to eat. The ikura was salty (preserved?) and had a bad fishy taste to it, which stayed in my mouth for hours. The other sushi - Ika, negitoro was pretty good. Grade: C. I was a bit disturbed with the policies of Kozo. I asked for a to-go cup of ice water (since the person who ordered before me got a cup of hot water for free). The employee said that they didn't have free cups of ice water, but they sold bottled water ($1.65). I told her that I'd just accept plain tap water in a cup (seeing that they offered this to the previous customer). She said that they don't offer that either. SHEESH! I just purchased a bottle of water and was done with the situation. I don't get it why some customers get free water (hot) and others don't. Looks like it will be another 25 more years until I return to Kozo. Food Grade: C Service Grade: C Worth the Money grade: B- Overall Impression: C.

By far my favorite sushi place! Also my favorite Kozo on the island so far. They are always super friendly and never skimp on the portions. I always get a dragon maki. So yummy!! And the price is really good. I highly recommend this place.

Easy, fast food sushi! It's not the super high quality stuff you get at the fancy restaurants, but it's quick, cheap(er), and the staff are polite. Hard to go wrong. Only a few seats to eat, so takeout is probably best. However, I rarely ever see anyone sitting there, so you could eat in.

Kozo is like the McDonald's of sushi and I don't mean that in a bad way. It's been years since I've come back to Kozo because of Ninja Sushi and Kuru Kuru Sushi being so close. Still, I needed something to eat while driving to an appointment so I popped in. From my experience years ago until today the consistency is the same, I was satisfied like I always have been and it was like opening a sushi time capsule. Yummy, a little pricey, but I appreciate that they use sushi rice instead of just sticky rice like other joints. In a pinch, this does the trick. If I wanted a sit down experience I would probably head to Kuru Kuru Sushi but I am happy whenever I pop in. Crazy thing is, the staff still remembers my order years later. Awesome sauce!

Always consistent. Large selection and new items constantly. But best thing besides convenience is polite staff. I truly find it refreshing to be treated well.

I used to rate Kozo below Genki but after a recent visit to both I must change the pecking order. I am also impressed with the rather diverse selection of choices, it's not just sushi they sell. They've added donburi's although they are covered by raw fish and a variety of bentos. I tried their fried chicken bento which came with a bed of furikake rice and a small green salad, the chicken had a light drizzle of teri sauce. The only thing the don't serve are hamburgers and fries. Everything is made to order and fresh. The items are all reasonably priced, granted they have some pretty funky combinations too, but isn't that the nature of sushi?

This location is just ouside of the actual mall area of Kahala Mall, where the McDonald's and the US Postal Service is located. The prices are decent for Japanese food goes, but I did like the customer service. The person at the counter was nice and she smile at me. It was a bright spot of my day, when most of it was just blah. The location was out of the way, unless you park at this side of the complex. I had couple of the unagi rolls and some natto rolls. The ume was nice and bitter, just like how I like it. Good selection, although they can improve on what they can offer. It's a basic take out sushi place and not like a Genki Sushi restaurant, where you can dine in.

This place is really super given quality&selection/price for HI. Given all the over priced Japanese national centric options, this is a great place for locals, and those folks coming to Whole Foods to avoid the over the top restaurant prices in HI, to get some very tasty sushi. Try a bowl along with the many options cruising by - Ono!

They have pretty good sushi but it all depends on who is making it. I have gone there and had one guy come out and talk to me personally. That was the best sushi roll I have gotten there. Lots of times it comes out and looks like it was thrown together with too much rice, and not enough of the other fillers. I also was in question one time, after that tsunami happened in Japan. There was a donation bucket for the victims of the tsunami. At the bottom of it is said, 'Kapafuju'. For those who don't know, 'fuju' means 'fooled you', and its sort of the asian/island joke. I was like what the heck? IS this for real or are they keeping the money?! 3 stars overall....

Good sushi, decent selection and great prices. Zagat sticker on the door drew me in. I've had better (prettier) prepared rolls, but I'm ok with lightning fast instead. My 7 year old son approves.

I love Kozo Sushi. Now I know you can get much better quality sushi at other locations BUT you can't beat the convenience of Kozo. I always get the spicy tuna hand roll, YUM! It's convenient to eat and not at all messy and the price is reasonable.
