Not bad as far as Karaoke huts..err..bars...go. It's got a general bar area where you can Karaoke right out there with all the strangers. Or you can get a private room for you and your friends can enjoy if you're trying to keep your golden pipes a secret. We always get a room because our talents are not a thing that everyone should be privy too. But more than that, we just like being able to queue up songs and sing whatever we like whenever we want as many times as we want. I think your own room runs about $25-30/hour, but I never bothered calculating the actual price per hour It's BYOB as well, and that includes food. Grab some pickup and some drinks on the way. They do have a full bar you can buy drinks at, but really, why would you pay bar prices instead of just bringing your own drinks? Good selection of songs, they have most everything we look for. The song books have gotten better and organize by artist or by song now (used to just be by song title and that was pain). They also have automated the system so you just enter songs with a keypad like most places. When we first started going there you had to write it on a paper with your room number and take it out to the bar to queue up; no longer. The interior, decor, and atmosphere is nothing special, but its still one of our favorites since it's outside of downtown/waikiki and it's BYOB and food. Makes for a cheap fun night of Karaoke.

Karaoke Hut has both karaoke rooms for groups and a karaoke bar where any patron can sing. *Note - this review pertains to the bar side ONLY. I love going here - depending on the night, you can get all kind of characters that walk through the door and you're pretty much guaranteed a fun night. As others have pointed out before, you walk through the doors on the side of Karaoke Hut, expecting a hostess bar with the average age of patrons hovering around 60 or so. Definitely NOT the case at K-hut. No hostesses here - only awesome waitresses and bartenders. The atmosphere is fun - since the mic rotates, you might hear "Love & Honesty" followed up by "Get Low", or "Need You Now" and "In The End" in quick succession. Good drink specials every night of the week (preset in advance, so check out the specials the first time you go and plan your nights accordingly), a decent selection of beer, and a pretty wide array of songs to choose from, including some of the current Top 40 songs (Bruno Mars comes to mind). In case you're not a singer (or are getting dragged in by someone who is), there's pool tables, darts and a couple MegaTouch machines in the bar. You might not expect it, but the sushi here is great! A pretty fair assortment of makizushi and nigiri, along with a few specials. Food is "occasional", as in "occasionally" they'll be ready to cook and serve hot foods. When they're not serving hot food, though, you can bring in your own from wherever. (Ask the waitress or even call in advance about it.) Parking's pretty limited, especially after 9-10pm. Especially on weekend nights, K-Hut can get pretty packed, so the small lot gets packed quickly. Also, when it's busy, the mic gets passed around from group to group, so your opportunities to sing songs will probably drop as the night gets later. So, summary: Negatives: hot food not always available, parking limited, a little chilly, busy bar = less songs to sing Positives: good service, good selection of drinks, good selection of songs, good sushi, good entertainment and an AWESOME vibe b/c of the regulars, the patrons and the overall fun dynamic of a bunch of different groups of people in a bar listening to each other sing/rap/warble/mumble/stutter/slur/belt out a song. Bonus points from me because it's like a "Cheers" bar to me - it's familiar, it's got a good vibe and it's fun.

What can I say? I live for karaoke and love coming here! The staff is super friendly and try to accommodate our parties as much as possible. The rooms are clean and they have new songs too. Used to be paper-and-pen-and-run-to-give-your-song-list-to-the-front, but it's all updated now with the digital input thing in the karaoke rooms. You can even adjust the song to be a lower/higher pitch or faster/slower rhythm to sing it as u like it. There's an ATM machine in the waiting area if you need it. If you get tired of karaoke (...whaaat?!) , then u can wander to the bar-side and play pool or darts. Comfortable atmosphere and casual, so you don't have to dress up if you don't want to, and can just come as u are. Parking is free. Since it is BYOB for the rooms and Safeway is across the street, well, that just makes it a no-brainer and so easy. I can always count on Karaoke Hut for a fun time out. I've never posted a review on yelp for them but I've probably been there over 20 times, and that's being cautious with the number. Like this place a lot.

Synoposis: If you're dorming, this is one option of a place to go to sing if Toma Enterprise is busy and don't have availability. Drinks and food are allowed in the rooms. In the lounge area there are pool tables and comfortable circle tables with sofas to sit. Unfortunately, they force you to buy 2 drinks if you're going to stay. Like are you serious? Even when I lied to the waitress that I was DD, she said I need to order Cranberry juice, etc!!! R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S! Overall, it's pretty okay. Ideally, I would rather go to Krazy Karaoke on a Monday night. Environment: Um, ghetto! Definitely not a place of luxury outside and when you first enter. When going in the room though, it's awesome. The rooms are red, with interesting pictures. They have disco balls, and comfortable sofas to sit on. This place is definitely a must in a group. Songs: GHETTO! You have to write it on a piece of paper and hand it to the people. If you want to cancel it, you have to call using the phone within the room. Ugh yea..can someone say "UPGRADE!" Food: Never had their food, BYOF! Drinks: BYOB! Safeway is right there..come on, let's not be lazy! Parking: Simplistic, however, if more space is needed you have to park alongside the road. You can attempt to risk Safeway.....but you may be towed towed away! Special Features: 50% birthdays! HOLLAH!

Dis place is dece. I come here once in a while to cruise cause it's close by my place. Da peeps is mostly chill. Not too sure about da karaoke but da the scene is mellow. Brought my ex here when we was breaking up. Dis da convo: her - I want to break up. me - I want to make a baby in your vagina. her - Not going to happen. me - Good. You make a baby in your uterus anyway, not your giant vagina. her - Go to hell. me - Done and done! Not sure what that says about KHut but I still come by sometimes to grab a drink and chillax. No worries, brah. Jes' coastin'.

So when I last reviewed this place it was not such a nice review. Since then they've gotten way better and myself a lot less drunker. I wish the songs were only a dollar tho. But the workers make up for that in friendliness.

I've been going to Krazy Karaoke since I was in high school and after a hiatus on the mainland, recently started going back there. Boy things haven't changed a bit. The private rooms are comfortable, the bar area is nice, and the service is good. The downside is the song list isn't as up to date as some other establishments and the private room rates are on the tad higher side. It's location is hard to beat, located right off Kapahulu it is is pretty easy meeting place for people coming from the east and west sides of the island. The parking lot in front can be a bit of a challenge at times, but don't let that deter you. Wait for a few minutes and a stall usually opens up, if not, just drive and park along one of the side streets. The inside is decent, but starting to show its age. The bar area is decent and the pool tables and the dart boards in the back of the room are a welcomed reprieve if you need a break from singing. The song list is decent, but if you want the newer stuff they have, ask for the really new book. It's sort of secret, so don't say that I said it exists. Prices are $1.00 per song if you are on the bar side of things. The private room rates are a little on the higher side, but it is BYOB on the private side so that helps a little. Service is good and nothing to really complain about there!

I don't even want to give this place ONE star!! Went in one night with my bro to relax, drink some beers, and sing a few songs. We put in about 7 songs, made some friends with the people around us. After we had been there for 45 minutes, the waitress came over with our song slips and told us that we couldnt sing anymore. I started laughing until i looked at her face and realized she was serious!! We asked why and she told us that we needed to give others an opportunity to sing. EXCUSE ME!? WE ARE PAYING FOR THESE SONGS AND WE CANT SING!?!? WTF?!!?! The whole ordeal really turned me off to this place. we will NEVER be back....if you dont want people to sing songs, then dont be a frickin' karaoke bar!!!!!!!!!!!

Love coming after work during the week days, normally not a super long line a people singing and if there is you can still play pool and darts, weekends can be a little too busy in there for me but I always have a good time!

Uh ok. We just left here not too long ago. Long story short. Ordered two beers and a coke. Got three beers and a coke. Fine. Waitress spills first beer on the table. Cool. No biggie. Shit happens. Gets us another beer. Closing time rolls around. Our friend still working on the beer we didn't order. Waitress comes to clear our table. Spills the beer on our other friend. No apology. Just walks away. Cool. Maybe she forgot. Maybe she lost her voice. Maybe she thought she said it. I dunno. Go up to the bar to pay our tab. Bartender tells us $5.50. No. We ordered more than that. Ok. Changes it to $8.50. Original waitress rolls around. "No, you guys ordered three beers, a coke, and what else?" Nothing mang. We ordered two beers and a coke. You gave us three. We just want to pay and dig out. Waitress says we owe her $12.50. Cool. Look . I know you guys drink while you're working. Thats cool, BUT It's not my fault if you can't handle. Don't drink. Don't spill shit on people. Simple right? I guess not.

Great place for karaoke and drinks, especially for those slow weekdays. Drinks are not that cheap. I like the public bar area, more people getting their party on. Good flashback on younger days.

It was my first time back in years to this place and it has definitely changed--not for the better though. Customer service is inadequate and not very helpful. Tip to staff (especially to the Asian female server in all black): if you don't like your job, find a 9-to-5, and get your life!

Karaoke Hut has a good selection of music, but not as much as Krazy Karaoke. The large room is a decent size but it gets really hot and stuffy when there are a lot of people. You have to write down the songs and give them to a worker instead of entering the number into the TV. However, one big plus is that Karaoke Hut allows drinking until closing instead of taking all your alcohol away at midnight. Both mics worked the whole time, not like the last time we went to Krazy Karaoke. Parking sucks over here, so you'll probably have to find street parking. I like Karaoke Hut...it's a good place to go if you want to drink past midnight while singing your favorite songs with your friends.

They have a very high tolerance for drunk people. Not as strict on kicking everyone out AND they don't cut off alcohol at 12am (*eyes wide at Krazy Karaoke). Torn because I know that there are pros and cons to having strict limits/rules for drinking. Still, I like to be able to show up at a birthday party at 10pm and not worry that ALL the alcohol will be taken away by in 2 hours. Wild times here, however, like Rise D. says it does get very hot and stuffy. Parking can be a nightmare because it is on Kapahulu but the same goes for Krazy Karaoke (plus Krazy Karaoke is much bigger so with it comes more parking woes). Different venues of entertainment (dart boards and touch screen games), they have their own bar but still let you BYOB, and the workers don't really mess with you too much. I give them a lot of credit because the last 2 times I've been there customers have annihilated the bathroom (used up all the tissue, rubbish on the floor, and throw up in the sink). If I were planning a birthday party in the near future I would definitely choose this place over Krazy Karaoke because of their alcohol tolerance.

This isn't the cleanest bar, nor is it the greatest place to drink. But if you're looking for a fun night with some amazing, and (more commonly) terrible public singing, there is no better place. I can personally attest that ANYONE will sing, regardless of his (read: my) lack of ability, in a hilarious, alcohol-fueled environment like this. There's something about everyone in a bar singing along to Queen songs, out of tune, that's magical. Like a dirty, dive-y kind of magical. Anyway, this constantly tune-driven environment makes drinking even more appealing than it naturally is. Sure, I live a block away, so of course I visit the bar a lot and I'm partial to the simplicity of the concept and vibe. Nonetheless, if you have friends in town that just wanna have a carefree night, then try it out! You should see it when the place is packed. It's always a crazy, crazy night. Drinks are standard fare, and most of the customers are hardcore regulars. There are a number of pool tables and dart machines, as well as the option to rent a room for a private karaoke party (la-a-a-a-ame). On most nights, there is either a sushi chef or kitchen-mama available to feed you. The ajuma in the kitchen makes some great fried food, and Abe, the sushi guy, makes some amazing rolls as well as nigiri. Why I come back: Amazing atmosphere, simplicity, good sushi, $3 daily specials

Went here for a going away party ffor about 20 people. On a super short notice hey were able to accommodate my party and checked in to make sure we still had our reservation. They quoted me $100 per hour. On the day of the workers were so helpful! They made a makeshift cooler for us out of a box and a garbage bag. They also provided plates and napkins and chopsticks. They even gave some of the people free sodas. I mentioned I wanted water first and not drinks yet to go easy on my empty stomach and they assured me they even.had tums if I needed it. They had a good song selection and comfortable rooms. The tables were a bit big for the space but it was good. Byob and food no charge. They even ended up charging us $70 per hour instead. So friendly!!!! minus the crazy old guy in the parking lot yelling at my friends who were walking to the atm across the street. The other employees were apologetic and it was fine. I would highly recommend going back. Parking is alright and street parking isn't bad depending on the time.

What else can I say? The ambiance is great, giving you that 1980s look with the neon lights. There is a sushi bar in the back, and pool tables next to it. For the karaoke, the selections are pretty good, though the karaoke jockey does not call out your name for your turn. There are rental rooms for karaoke, but prefer singing in front of people. Atmosphere is nice, and the area is close to hotels near Waikiki, if that is where you are staying. The crowd is of a college type, and outside is pretty quiet, unlike Waikiki. If you're into singing karaoke, and chilling out, this is the place to be

I'LL STICK WITH KRAZY KARAOKE My family and I decided to try someplace new for our latest karaoke night and we got a room at the hut. My first impression wasn't so great. That parking lot gets packed! Luckily it's pretty easy to find street parking on the side streets. Second impression: they have a bar, but let you BYOB. Nice! Third impression: I have to write my songs on a piece of paper and walk it over to the KJ? What?! This totally sucked and is why I won't ever get a room here again. First of all it's humbug to be walking in and out of your room all the time. Second, there's no remote control so you can't give someone the hook and move on to the next song if you need to (or if they put on the wrong song by mistake). Finally, you have to coordinate with the rest of your group when you write down the codes, otherwise you'll end up having someone get 4-5 songs of theirs in a row. If you want to sing in the lounge it's not bad, but I think there are better places to get a room.

Just went to a friends birthday party here and was amazed at how fun it was. It makes sense to get your own private room because its BYOB and boy did we bring the Booze! The song selection is awesome and fast and you can be as loud as you like. If you want to dive into the bar area, they have very cheap drinks. The best deals Ive seen in a Karaoke bar. The rooms are discounted 50% off if you come from 1-8pm otherwise your paying full price but if you got a crew with you it turns out to be a very cheap night. I highly recommend this place. So much so, that I am spending my birthday there tomorrow night. Good times to be had by all!

This place actually feels a little bit sketchy. It was pretty empty when I walked in on a Friday night at 9pm but the drunk lesbians from Waianae were having a blast ;P The karaoke was a bit messed up...songs and lyrics kept freezing and getting all jumbled up. The bartenders would let groups hold on the mics and sing my songs until I told them :/ But at least the drinks were strong!

my review is strictly toward the food on a day when the sushi bar wasn't open. kalbi was ok, meat jun was a bit sad, and the mandoo was horrible. if i was into the karaoke bar thing, maybe i'd enjoy myself more, but those of you that end up there with friends, you should probably eat food somewhere else first.

yay!! for... -full bar -sushi bar -darts -pool -megatouch -booths -drink specials every night -great service -regulars -oh yeah...karaoke sad cuz.... when you first walk in there is a distinct smell....BUT not to worry...after five minutes you get used to it and don't notice it anymore!! :D

Far as I know, Karaoke Hut has the widest and most up to date song selections on the island. Their bar is decently stocked and service is generally friendly and quick. Their only weakness is lack of good food.

I was invited to come here for a fren's bday party. Apparently this place has been their "hang-out" place ever since...but this was my very first time. The parking is prettu big, knowing that the location was also a small "shopping center" or something like that. It was already late at night when the bf and I arrived to the venue. It sounded a little too quiet outside. But when I got in, there it goes, different faces around a bar and my frens. I was actually forcing my fren that I'll get him a private room, but they keep refusing bcoz of "uberly hot" cocktail server that they kept hitting on (I guess). So, we stayed out by the bar. The song selection was a lot. That's the only place I'd hear all those weird "unknown" songs. But hey, the singer wasn't bad. Four star coz everyone in the bar area, including strangers, actually get along and you can go ahead and party it up with them. I left one star out coz you gotta pay for each song...which totally sucks! Overall though, this is a pretty fun place if you don't mind having strangers but cool people around u while u sing.

  • Arnold G.

We had great time at Karaoke here, but their song books are woefully disorganized and there's no remote entry and skipping of songs here. You have to write everything down on a piece of paper and then hand it to the guy at the control room. This kinda sucked because a couple times we got the wrong song. If you're in Kapahulu and need a karaoke fix, Karaoke Hut isn't bad, but I think it's time for some upgrades.

I pretty much always have fun whenever I come here. Whether if it is in a karaoke room or in the main bar my friends and I have a good time. They have daily drink specials so it is always fairly cheap, and if you pay for a room it is byob. I only give the hut a 4 because for a time there it felt like we were getting ripped off by the bartender and being charged for drinks that we did not order, this suspicion was confirmed when I caught a bartender doing just this. She was subsequently fired after we complained to the manager and had our tab reduced. I am not sure if it was only this specific bartender that overcharged us or if it is part of the culture of this place that seems kind of shady to begin with. Don't let that deter you from checking out the hut, just make sure you count your drinks and check your tab at the end of the night.

What is up with Karaoke? I didn't realize it has such a big deal here in Hawaii. My friends wanted to do Karaoke one week night, so I called a few places thinking it would be so easy to get in, but many of them were fully booked! Karaoke Hut is no different, it is also very popular, but with a very different crowd. The patrons tend to be older and much more local. The song book is all in english (as opposed to those other Karaoke places that cater to a lot of asians by providing soju cocktails and k-pop songs). The rooms are just alright, nothing special. You pay per hour for the room as opposed to pay by song. Like I said, they have only english songs and a pretty good selection. Although they serve alcohol both at an open space bar and near the karaoke rooms, you can byob too. There is plenty of parking, and it is easy to stop by foodland or safeway on the way. Although there is a very different crowd at Karaoke Hut, you won't see much of them if you are in a Karaoke room.

My friends & I always rent private rooms to come here. The rates are fair & the service is great. The songs aren't always the most up-to-date but you can be sure you'll always find the classic karaoke faves. They're always willing to extend your rental also (as long as they're not packed with more reservations after yours). The guys at the front bar/office area are always happy to provide also. I always say it's the little things that matter so when I ask to borrow something as simple as a bottle opener & I get a happy "Oh yeah! No problem! Just hold on to it!" it makes a great impression. At our most recent visit, we learned they now charge a $5 corkage fee per person in order to BYOB. I'm actually glad they're doing this! Think of all the money they miss out by letting folks bring in their own food & drinks! One of the workers stopped by our door when he overheard us talking about walking across the street to Safeway for a bag of ice. He went right ahead & brought us a 5gal bucket full of ice & was even offering to bring cups or other utensils. Again, the little things make a huge difference!

Probably the best karaoke bar I have been to with a group. The hourly room rates are good, the room was clean, the song selection was huge, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is BYOB (but has a full bar). They provided cups, plates, ice, etc. They also server food but allow outsode food as well. All around a very good experience.

I came here to hangout a few months ago. Nice place where you can get your groove on. Sing for $1/song. No biggie. Drinks were fine but they sure do offer a lot of limes! I don't know much about this place but you can come and sing to your heart's content. Bar is aiiiright. Nothing special. Dedicated to WKD,Sr. and yes as Sintara sang, "And now, the end is near, And so I face the final curtain. My friends, I'll say it clear; I'll state my case of which I'm certain. I've lived a life that's full - I've travelled each and every highway. And more, much more than this, I did it my way. Regrets? I've had a few, But then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption." We LUV you and you can always have it "My Way"! RIP September 12, 2010

Do I sing and can I sing are 2 entirely different questions? I believe I can do both, my friend would say I can only do one of the above. I also believe my friends don't know anything or have the finesse of a musical ear. Karaoke hut is a great night cap...or pre-gaming place. I often "perform" in the bar area, order a round of the night's specials (which often are watered down...even the shots) and Sing, Sang, and Sung. Many of nights here were spent blissfully. They also have Japanese pupus, private karaoke rooms, dart boards, and pool tables. Great place to hang!

My first karaoke experience was in Japan (as a visitor, not a local) so when my 2nd karaoke venture landed me at Karaoke Hut, perhaps my expectations were too high. It was a group event, so we had one of the larger rooms, attired in 80's posters and pleather. First the good - friendly service. The end. Now the bad - there isn't a computer system for you to choose your songs. You have to manually write your song codes on a sheet, then turn them to the attendant who then has to manually cue them up. So if each person is filling a sheet, all their songs will come up together.... Everyone has to browse a hardcopy catalogue to find songs. This creates a great lack of control over the karaoke experience. Plus, due to the manual song cueing up process, there is a TON of dead air that you are paying for. Mayhap I'm a snob - but I really expected a better karaoke experience in Hawaii.

Came here as part of Girl Fest activities and had a great time with strangers! I prefer private-room karaoke to open karaoke at a bar, and although Karaoke Hut looks a bit on the older and dingier side, it's really about the people you share the fun with. That said, this place has a great selection of music including a lot of the latest music that I think other karaoke places might not even have yet. Most of the lyrics are on a plain background instead of a music video like in the Korean noraebangs, but if you got more songs than other places, it doesn't really matter how you present it, right? One thing I really didn't like about this place though was you can't enter your own songs and have full control over the songs -- you can't skip songs you changed your mind on, and you can't sing half a song and skip to the next one (which I sometimes do to save more time so we can sing more songs...repeating the chorus over and over and over again gets kinda boring sometimes). You can't change keys or anything. And a lot of the lyrics can either be wrong or the instrumental is wrong so it's really difficult to sing along. I can't comment on the price, but hopefully if I saw it I wouldn't be surprised.

This place is great for a local hang out spot. Its quite homey and everyone is nice most of the time, but on occasion some routey out of towners will show up. The singing is good most of the time, but as with any karaoke place there is your "hurt my ears" singers every now and then, but its all in fun. There is a spacious area for pool which is usually the happenin spot and also 2 dart boards. There are private rooms for rent which is great and the fact that you can byob in those rooms makes it even better.

I've passed by Karaoke Hut for years and last night was my first time visiting this neon lit Kapahulu landmark. Okay so maybe it's not a landmark but everyone knows where to go when you say "the place that has the red neon lights in front of it." Walking into the Karaoke Hut you might think, hmmm did I bring my knife because this place feels a bit sketchy? But once you sit down it's super mellow and we had a really great time with our friends. You can tell from the look at the "usual suspects" at this bar that there are definitely a group of older men who are regulars. The booths are nice and spacious so you can easily hang with a whole bunch of friends. Our waitress came over quickly, took our orders and was very speedy in bringing over the mics for karaoke. Songs are $1 and they have disposable covers on the mics so at least you're only sharing the kooties of everyone who sang on that particular night. I know that doesn't make you feel any better but I'm trying not to throw up. The sound system is decent although I had a hard time hearing myself when I sang. Maybe it was where I was sitting because there was a guy at the bar who sang "Mack the Knife" and he was astounding! I don't care for most karaoke singers but this guy had some serious skills. My boss was with me that night and I told her that I bet there are more karaoke bars per square foot than any city in America. If you count all the K-bars you know that Honolulu has got a sweet chance of scoring a completely useless accolade. On our way out I looked around the back and saw that they had two pool tables and even more seating. My BF & I will be back on a weeknight because I looove to sing karaoke and play pool! I'll leave my knife at home but will be sure to bring some extra mic covers so I can change them out when it's my turn to sing.

Friends hung out in the lounge and sang a few songs. The lounge has a partial bar. There are private rooms as well. There are days when the wait for your song to play can be bad but its a open lounge; that's typically. However on one day, the bartender decided to superimpose a 2 drink minimum. Since when? There's no signage saying so. Here's a tip: You don't throw out paying patrons. Not now, not ever, especially not in a recession. Drove by the other day while going to Leonard's. A huge sign was posted "50% off rooms." I wonder why. Keep your rooms, keep your attitude, and your fictitious rules. We'll spend our money else where.

I died and found my karaoke heaven. Went on Sunday around 6:30 p.m.; my friends and I were 4 of 6 people in the entire bar. YES! So of course we took over the back area and went to town murdering songs while simultaneously throwing darts and drinking. It was so much fun! What I liked: -- If you haven't been recently, the owners refreshed the establishment. -- Mega-touch!!! Need I say more? No, but I will. There was one area that had the mega-touch machine on the bar table so you can play without feeling ousted from the rest of the group. -- Nice staff. -- Private room rates look very reasonable and there's a deep discount before 8 p.m. What could be improved: -- The karaoke song book lists songs by track name. There was no book by artist. Wonder if they just don't have one or if I forgot to ask if one is available.

I bring my daughters and their friends here to sing their hearts out to the famous tunes of Rihanna, Hillary Duff, Hanna Montana and an occasional John Travolta/Olivia Newton John duet. So when I asked my daughter where she'd like her 9th birthday party this year it was a no brainer, "Karaoke Hut!!" She yells at the top of her lungs. I called to make a reservation and was informed that a new law was put into effect. You can no longer bring in alcohol to the room if it is going to be a shared room with minors. Oh, they know me so well. How am I now going to drown out the noise? NO alcohol? We love Karaoke Hut because it's affordable. We come in between 3pm and 8pm, and the rates are 1/2 off. It's only $15 an hour for a regular room and only $40 an hour for the biggest room. I let the kids sing for a couple hours buy them some pizza, and my friends and I hit the cooler. NOW, it will be whole nother experience. A sober experience.

This place looks like most karaoke places. There was a bar near the entrance but since most people BYOB, it wasn't staffed. The room we started in had perimeter seating with a huge table in the middle. Not the best arrangement when you're with a few drunk girls that can't be still for more than 3 mins! And the bf with us @ that point in time, ended up walking over the table to escape the room (but not from us--he was on a liquor run)! When our additional guests arrived, they gave us one of the 'great' rooms which was much cooler. We didn't have more than 15 & could've squeezed in the 1st room but it woulda been kinda hot. There's only 1 lavatory for men & 1 for women. That part is kinda disgusting, especially on a Sat night. Hold it if you can!!! Service was good. The staff were accomodating and a few times when they accidentally repeated a song or played something we didn't order, they'd correct it right away. Despite the minor issues, we belted out our favorites and had a ton of fun!!!

Your tolerance for bad singing will determine whether or not you should check out Karaoke Hut in Kapahulu. If you think people should be required to actually have an inkling of talent before they sing in public, this bar is definitely not for you. Love to sing, no matter if it's in an enclosed space with a few friends or in public with complete strangers? Keep Karaoke Hut in mind when you feel like belting out a few tunes. And if you're like me, not really the singing type but still enjoy cheap beers and hanging out with friends, then this joint is still worth a stop, as long as the sometimes laughingly bad singers don't drive you outside screaming for mercy. Open since 1990, Karaoke Hut is a regular stop for an interesting cross-section of people. Boasting "10 exotic rooms to serve you," it's not unusual to spot tourists from Waikiki, college students in their early 20s and middle-aged co-workers singing anything from current pop hits and rock classics to traditional Hawaiian tunes and Japanese language drinking songs. Hang a left once you walk in the front doors, and you'll enter the lounge side of this establishment. A pair of pool tables, dart machines and Megatouch games are available here, along with 10 barstools and another four booths to provide customers with a place to sit. With lots of mirrored glass and neon lights, there's a Las Vegas-style vibe to the bar area. Some folks might compare it to a hostess bar atmosphere, but don't worry -- nobody's going to ask you to "buy me drinkee" here. What I like about this place is that most singers don't take themselves too seriously, and the bar's policy is to keep the microphone moving. If you're not feeling somebody's song selections or the quality of their voice, just concentrate on your drink for a few minutes. Someone else will get the mic soon enough. I'm also impressed by how well everyone gets along -- nobody flinched when the music went from a '70s classic to a hardcore rap track, and regulars of all ages made their rounds upon walking into the bar, shaking hands with just about every customer there regardless of how well they knew the person. Besides On Stage Drinks and Grinds or Uncle Bo's, there aren't many choices when it comes to drinking in Kapahulu. Wine buffs might head to Formaggio's, but the lack of any real competition is what keeps Karaoke Hut successful. While a number of other bars might offer karaoke in addition to live entertainment and other distractions, this place is an excellent choice for the karaoke purist who wants to get out and sing the night away. starbulletin.com/2004/05…

What an awesome place! The front bar is dark and depressing, but the back karaoke rooms are lit up like operating rooms. Once the alcohol gets flowing, choose from a massive, unorganized list of songs and perform for 20 of your closest friends.

I got a black belt in thee arts of karaoke, and I tend to remove that belt when I sing and stand on the tables here at this place I call home. Anything that is revealed during our karaoke parties as far as body parts go are between me and the attendees. If we decide to go streaking shortly after though, that's your fault for looking. PLACE: located directly in public view on the main vein of Kapahulu. You've passed this place, that's a guarantee, and trust me . . . you want to go in it. They have a parking lot directed in the front but it gets packed quick because of it's popularity so be prepped to look for residential parking adjacent to the place. Otherwise, just park at Safeway across the street or at other establishments near and walk on over. You can guess the percentages of getting a parking ticket later . . . but don't think too hard, let your lowered inhibitions (by alcohol) let you determine that life decision. AMBIANCE: this place is just Mr. Fantastic. They have thee best song selections by far, better than any other karaoke spot I've been to . . . except for the one in my shower. That one will always have the best songs available ready to be sung slaughteredly. They got all the classic songs but as far as updated radio played music, not so much . . . that's good news. Get a private room, there is a public lounge with booths and bar games but this is not Karaoke Hut's stronghold. The song books they have come in two organizational ways: 1) by song 2) by artist. This makes it super convenient to find your peanut butter jam. It does get packed here Fridays and Saturdays so you might want to reserve ahead of time. Let's go ahead cut the excess and lay out why this place is so good: 1) you can bring your own food 2) you can bring your own alcohol . . . yes that's right, bring your own poison. That's a recipe for all kinds of hood-rat fun with your hood-rat friends already 3) there is no time limit for both food and drinks. Workers here don't barge in keeping track of the things you bring, especially with the things you do in here. So let loose and show the world that you can't sing With all of that said, please keep in mind that this place is a circus. You see all kinds of weird happening here, so keep calm when you see two shirtless grown-ass men singing loudly into a microphone that isn't plugged towards a television screen that isn't even turned on. Come here with your A-game and you'll be fine. This place is just simply a great place to have great times with great people. FIN.

This place is situated almost directly across from Safeway, Kapahulu. It's easy to find, the signage is clear and there was plenty of free parking right up front. This review is for the bar side of the business. I've never rented a karaoke room from them and probably won't. The waitress was on us as soon as we walked in. I cannot complain one bit about the service because those girls were really nice and ON IT. It was mentioned to me that the place has a "buy me drinkie" bar kind of feel to it, I agreed. I tend not to mind those type of places but in case you do, keep that in mind. Sadly, I cannot give this place a good review. Bummer because service was so good but man, the karaoke system on the bar side was terrible. I normally sing a handful of familiar songs so I have a basis for comparison in this regard. What is up with the karaoke system? The volume was too loud at times, the microphone was too soft and if perhaps I could hear myself I really didn't want to because either the song was too fast, there was no cue to start singing (between music breaks) or something. Even the songs which I consider "easy" made me feel like I had never sung them before. GEES! I also couldn't believe that the songs are 2. each. I've never paid that much for bar karaoke. Save yourself and don't sing there. I also did notice that the price of drinks were more than I'd expected. I took a photo of the food menu because sheesh, it really appeared to be over-priced. I'd suggest going across the street for food. Besides Safeway's hot/salad bar and deli there are a number of fast food type places which will likely help you get your money's worth. Never again.

This place Only got a 1 star for the convince.... Honestly service is poor and ive been over charged more then once. The so called managers over drink with customers and blame them for their own mistakes. So sad!!!!! I dont mind spending money but servers shouldn't sneak drinks on your tab!? Right!? Just ask! Customers are welcoming.... way more then managers and bartenders...... So!sad!!!!! No bueno!

If this had been a year ago, I would have given them 2 stars.... But, they've made some up-grades since the last time I've been here! Now, the speakers in room 1 actually work! They have food! Tried the fried chicken, chop steak, meat jun, and pizza rolls.... All were pretty good, but a little over priced.... the karaoke room rental is cheaper than Krazy, so its a good alternative if you're trying to save a buck.... the parking lot is notoriously bad, and get plenty kine hooligans hanging out there too, so just be careful when walking back to your car (one time, some a$$holes put their beer bottles behind my tires!!!! jerks!!!! check your car before you pull out of the lot!!!). overall, not bad.....

Oh, karaoke hut.. Such divey karaoke bar goodness. Music can be a little expensive ($2 a song, eep!) but the song selection isn't too bad, and the wait isn't ever really too long. Plus, they have two pool tables and two dart boards, so there's stuff for the non-karaoke folk. :) They also have a few private rooms, if you want more Japanese-style karaoke. The food is, well, let's just say I would eat before you get there. Haha But the more bar fare (i.e., fries) is not too bad and the drinks are reasonably priced (there's a drink special every day of the week) and made pretty stiff. There's usually parking in the parking lot, but if not, there is residential parking nearby -- although spots in the neighborhood can be hard to come by. Also, the bathrooms aren't the best (okay, they're kind of bad) -- but that's what makes a bar divey, am I right? With that said, Karaoke Hut is a good time for anyone, singer or not. :)

what: karaoke, lounge, pool & darts and full kitchen : ) something good: a good place for private parties! the rooms are pretty spacious and we didn't have a problem with any of the equipment : ) even though they have a kitchen, they allow you to bring your own alcohol and food, which is really awesome!! something not so good: the bathrooms could use a little tidying ! : ) something to try: a fun night of karaoke!

Had a great time singing some karaoke here while on business. Very relaxed atmosphere. We rented a room and sang away. Pros--we were able to bring our own beer! Con--only up through 2014 for songs but still seem to trying add more contemporary tunes.
