We got married in 08/2009. I heard about Kahala Caterers from the Wedding Café. The wedding consultant/planner, through them was a lady named Tara. Overall, our wedding was beautiful. If you hadn't been to any planning sessions or made any decisions about the food, or cake (as most of our guests had not), you would never know anything was amiss. Our guests loved it. However, Tara didn't even show up on our actual wedding day. Which was completely her bad, because we had a very nice tip to give her. The wedding cake was the complete wrong color, and the individual cakes at our head table was the wrong flavor. I had no one to help other than the servers who were serving us. Some menu items were completely wrong all together. Now, it was tasty, but again not what we ordered. In fact, some of the items we tasted at the menu tasting tasted completely different on our wedding day. It left us confused. I preceding to spend the next few months as a new bride arguing over things with the company president via email. They tried to bill us for the flowers, even though we paid that vendor directly. In addition, they neglected to carry over the total from the rentals page to the final subtotal page, surprising us with an extra $2000 we had to come up with that was not budgeted for. I didn't realize I would be required to take out my personal calculator and add up each page, call me crazy, I figured that would be something a professional would do. All in all, completely dissatisfied with this company. I think there is a good chance they are out of business as the web site doesn't exist anymore. Don't use them, too much headache.

FOOD POISONING ALERT: my company just catered with this company for a grand reopening celebration after renovations and I have been up all night since eating their food. This is the only food I ate yesterday that was not a home cooked meal so I have no other explanation for this sudden leakage from both ends. I do not recommend anyone using this company.

This is an average of the two experiences I had with them. 4 stars: for our office opening/holiday party several years ago, which they did a good job on, but of course it cost quite a bit (came out to $100/person) because they brought everything in - decorations, drinks, the whole thing. But I guess it wasn't bad. 1 star: I encountered the company again while planning my wedding, and because I was thinking of a non-hotel venue, decided to contact them for a quote. That was in April. They emailed me. in May. Said they're working on a quote and will get back to me. I'm still (sorta) waiting. Well, okay, I lied. I'm not waiting anymore because I've already booked elsewhere. But pretty crappy dropping the ball like that.

Food is worth your money! Staff was attentive and on time. The best part was their bartender John. He made our night! He created great drinks, super friendly and knew his stuff. I'd hire him for our personal parties.

I've heard they're supposed to be REALLY good, and their fare was very appetizing at a recent bridal expo, but at a real-live wedding, they ranked only 2 stars in my book. They seemed to wait until the last moment to replentish everything from plates to rice. Their chili-mint sauce for their dried up, tasteless summer rolls was unacceptable - tasted like watered down vinegar. Would have been better if they just offered straight shoyu. The furikake offered as a condiment was cheap and tasteless. The "flambe" dessert was in reality a pineapple/banana mixure in a warming tray. Gross. The rest of the food was only "OK", with the roast pig being the best item. Stay away from the prime rib - the rarest they had was medium and it was DRY, even with the sauce. Before experiencing their wedding food first-hand, I had sent them an email inquiry, and never received a response. I guess I got lucky!

Everyone raved about the food and service at our wedding. They took care of everything. Set-up, service, tear down, etc. In Hawaii, the food has to be fabulous or the event is a failure. They did not disappoint.

The service we received on our wedding reception was exceptional. We worked with Hilary before the date and she has been great. She showed up at the wedding the make sure the staff they sent over had everything covered. The 3 staff we had worked on our event was excellent! They are all very personal and helpful. There was a brief rain so they helped hauling the tables and rearranged the whole thing all over again at the lanai. Only thing prevented us from giving it 5 stars was one of the item we ordered was not as good as when we had during tasting. All in all, even though we were a little disappointed in one dish, I would say it was offset by an exceptional service.
