I do like eating at this drive inn. They always have a great menu with great varitiety. They are quick and the only place in Salt Lake so you will not be disappointed. Just check it out. The only thing I would want is for them to offer brown rice and salad instead of mac salad. But I must say they have good mac salad.

Cash only is only posted at the cash register. It should be posted on the door. When I walked in there were only a couple people, but the quickly grew. The cashier was a very friendly and cherry young lady. She promptly took order and when they came to the window she got them in a bag and out to customers with a smile. I think the problem lies in the kitchen. They don't time bringing out the food very well or maybe time it well I should say. One lady was waiting for her order and had to tell the cashier that the fries were getting cold while she waited for the rest of her order to be done and put in the bag. My food was done in a reasonable amount of time and everything was nice and hot. They serve coke products to drink which is the least of my favorite drinks. The food is your typical plate lunch, but its much better than the L&L down on Ahua. Here the service was friendly and the food is not sitting around getting crunchy. I will definitely come back here even if it is a little out of my way.

This place reminds me a lot of L&L Hawaiian BBQ, as the menu is very similar and consists of BBQ plates, shrimp plates, mini versions of all plates, burgers, fries, etc. I tried the honey garlic chicken, which came with two small scoops of white rice and one scoop of macaroni salad, but I opted to get a green salad instead of the mac. The chicken was really sweet and good, but the batter was so thick that it left me feeling pretty guilty. My hubby ordered the BBQ plate, which comes with BBQ chicken, BBQ ribs and BBQ beef - it was alright, but more on the oily side. I'm from Southern California and I personally didn't find this food to be any different from any of the Hawaiian restaurants I've been to in my state, surprisingly. I will say this place has pretty decent fast food Island plates, but they only accept cash and overall, this still wouldn't be one of my first choices to eat at. I actually only came here because I was starving after a long flight and it's located in a plaza close to the Honolulu airport!

I had the grilled Mahi with onion and it was really good. But Leilani obviously hates her job or her life or both. I definitely wouldn't let someone with that attitude work at my business and I've seen several other complaints about her. She's going to run your business into the ground because no one wants to deal with her.

SERVICE HERE SUCKS!!! We used to like stopping here but not anymore. If you hate your job so much then leave. Don't stick around & give customers your crap attitude. Anyways, came here one day for lunch with my siblings and let's just say that will never happen here again. We ordered then waited. And waited. And waited. Literally 30 minutes later we were still waiting. I was getting fed up & wondered why we were still waiting for our food. We were the only ones sitting in there. People were coming in, ordering & getting their food then leaving. (???!) so finally I stood up, looked over by the counter to see a bag sitting there. My sister went up to ask if that was ours and the idiot looked at her and said, "uhhhhh I think." WTF I was soooo furious!!!!! We were sitting there for 30mins, not once did he call out our order or mention to us it was ready. Like hello, you see people waiting wouldn't you think to go check if they're order is done?! This place seriously needs help. Or maybe just that fool who doesn't know how to do his damn job. SMH

TERRIBLE SEEVICE. Every time ive been here the people that run the desk are either on the phone, sitting down, back turned and dont acknowledge anyone. The food here hsed to be stellar but i must say their cooks are loosing that reputation. Facilities look gross and i dont want to know what it looks like in their kitchen. lastly the chicken i ate there was not cooked and was raw JUST A WARNING.... we threw that out right away...

If you're ever in salt lake and craving for some plate lunch, this is the place to go. It's like an L&L. Price is very reasonable and you get a good size portion.honey garlic chicken is the bomb here. Downside to this place is that they don't take credit cards. CASH only. I think they would make more money if they accept credit cards.

  • Jordan S.

I came here becasue some friends posted pictures of their food and it looked awesome. The food is pretty dang good. It's better that most drive in style places, but has the same casual feel. Prices aren't bad, and the servings are big. I would come back for sure.

The food here is decently good, but I like l&l better and it's cheaper there as well. When I come here I wait about 15-20 minutes depending how busy it is. But I do notice the cashiers here are usually in their teens to middle age and do not give the best customer service. The times I come here they are usually on their phones and never smile, some give an attitude and just look like they don't care. I also probably won't be eating here anymore because of reports that people are getting sick and that they put their meat in the sink. Not risking that.

  • Chan G.

I got very sick after eating here say night around 9pm. I'm Assuming it was the Mac salad or the hamburger steak... Who knows but it's not enough the customer service suck now the food gets me sick:( I used to like this place.

Came here today to try this place out. A small hole In the wall at the Salt lake shopping center next to Safeway. We ordered the grilled salmon and the hamburger steak and teriyaki mix plat with beef stew. The grilled salmon smelled fishy. I know, its a fish but it didn't smell like grilled salmon. More of a fishy smell and to top it off it was dry. Two bites from this plate and it was tossed out. Aviod this plate. The mix plate was better. The beef stew meat was tender, the hamburger pattie was homemade and the teriyaki was really marinated good. Mac salad was meh. Customer service was ok. Parking is kinda tight. We had to circle the lot a few time for a close parking stall. Just a heads up too, this place is cash only.

Located in Salt Lake Shopping Center. Some landmarks near this place are the Chevron gas station and Safeway. This place is located just around the corner of Safeway. I mainly order the Honey Garlic Chicken or the Garlic Shrimp plate. If I am in the GARLIC mood then ill get both of those in one combo plate ($9.50 i believe). CASH ONLY! NO checks and NO cards! Not really much to say about this place. Customer service is okay, probably could be better. If you do end up here, the Honey Garlic Chicken is a must try, and one of their best plates. Everything else is pretty similar to L&L. Mac Salad is like any other place. I do enjoy all the pictures of the different plates posted on the wall. It really helps with the decision making (especially if you are a first timer here ).

We used to order the pan size chicken Katsu for pick up but not anymore. We call the order in and they never start making it until we are there. That's just bad service if u ask me.

Honey garlic chicken is one of the best i've tasted, plus the portion is good size. If you are is the Salt Lake area, you gotta try this honey garlic chicken plate!

Cash only!!! I ordered the honey garlic chicken, which is like chicken katsu on steroids. My fiancé enjoyed it much better than any other chicken katsu he's every had. I was on a garlic shrimp kick since we were at the North Shore the other day. I had to order it again, even if it wasn't from one of the shrimp trucks. It was quite good, I must say. $16 total for regular sized plates It's a very casual spot next to gas station. We stumbled upon this place on our way to the airport while we got gas. We wanted to bring some food to eat at the airport, and this was perfect! It was good, affordable, tasty. I would have given this place more stars, but the service sucked. They only had 1 person working the front so the food started to pile up. There was no one there to help her bag things to - go. They are totally understaffed! They need to hire some more folks for sure!

One star for the service from the big girl at the register with the choke zits! 1. Didn't smile when she was taking my order (I can let that slip) 2. When I said "I'll order the regular honey garlic chicken" she immediately says "7.80". I'm sorry girl. Are you psychic??? How do you know I didn't want to order anything else??? had to tell her I also wanted a large fries for my wife. she gruffly told me my total ($11.20) Hey Islander Drive Inn, your cashier needs immediate remedial customer service training ASAP!!! Either that or fire her @$$

  • Diane S.

The honey garlic chicken is good here and the prices are decent for the portion they give. The down side is it's cash only "and" it's a hit or miss with whoever is at the register taking the orders. In all the years I've been dining here I've only came across one welcoming friendly cashier. All the other times whichever girl was in front was blah. My sister and I ate here tonight. The girl at the register was looking through her phone. When we were ready to order she just gave us a blank stare even after I said hello. I proceeded to order; she practically forced the change in my hand...no thank you...nothing but went back to playing with her phone. Then she took her hair down from her ponytail and started to play with her hair; it looked like she was splitting her ends.

Last went here years ago when the earthquakes hit the Big Island and power was out for the day. Hey we didn't want to open the refrigerator and this was the only place that was open and cooking food!? LOL! My first thought when coming here was damn this place looks kinda sketch. The food proved me wrong. Honey Garlic Chicken. OMGGGGG! It was off the charts good! Prices here were decent and the portions were pretty big. Totally unrelated too but figures that right after I started eating the power came back on. LOL!

I think I'm going to give up on all the food places in Salt Lake Shopping Center. How can one ruin local plate lunches? I came here before work with Friend after bouncing back and forth between where to eat for lunch. I ordered the small mochiko chicken and he got the regular hamburger steak with a drink. This alone was over $16. My small chicken was actually a pretty good size. I had to check the receipt to make sure I actually got a small. However, that chicken fried to golden brown perfection was the blandest fried food I've ever tasted. I enjoy eating bland for the most part but even this was too hard to bear just to give you some perspective. I was so disappointed with the taste and there was hardly any chicken meat. It wasn't the chunks of chicken I'm used to because it was mostly slivers of chicken with fat and lots of batter. Not quite the "house specialty" I was hoping for. The regular hamburger steak was two patties smothered with brown gravy. The hamburger steak tasted like it was bought as frozen patties. Not that good either. We ordered fries on the side after and even that was lacking seasoning! This joint gets busy because it's the only local plate lunch plate place in the immediate area but I think it's lacking. Thankfully, I rarely crave local food so I'll cut my loses. I'd skip it and eat Subway instead.

The Drive In is clean and usually moves at a decent customer turnover rate. Popular for their Honey Garlic Chix and PorkChops, i like the Mushroom Chicken for the fresh peppers and onions and mushrooms (lots). They do the same w beef as well. Today im having the bento: Bbq Chix/Teri Beef/ Mahimahi/ Spam and rice. Looks ono! I just needed to ask for a little bit more tartar sauce:-)

Happened upon this plate lunch store after visiting my optometrist located in the Salt Lake shopping center near the Safeway. Pretty normal place, fast food benches and a generally disinterested cashier who's first duty is to inform you that it's CASH ONLY !!! Are you kidding me? They sell card scanners at SAMs club. There's no excuse not to take credit cards, checks I understand. Good thing I had cash. Although I was taken aback by this archaic business plan the service wasn't horrible and the food was ready relatively quickly. We were somewhat happy with our plates (BBQ chicken) NO BBQ to speak of so we were very disappointed in that (guess we're too used to SAMs deli on nuuanu) and chicken katsu, which was actually very good. It came with two scoops if rice and one swoop of Mac salad. Good portions, and served as lunch today, but overall I won't go out of my way to visit again.

This has become my favorite local spot - it is better than all the other drive inn, drive thru, loco moco, whatevah places around town. The honey garlic chicken is an addiction waiting to happen. If you aren't hooked on it yet, that's only because you haven't tried it. Even though I've had quite a few other lunch plates, I keep going back to the HGC every time. I can't stay away!! There's also a breakfast menu here, and that's clutch because otherwise there's just nowhere around here to get a plate of eggs and rice. Rated 3 stars because it is cash only. Seriously??? I don't know what is holding back Islander from accepting credit cards, but it does make me wonder!!

The honey garlic chicken is the best so far! I tried the garlic shrimp and its pretty good. Customers service from the lady is always horrible though! Never smiles, she is never polite, and she looks like she hates her job.

I had the honey garlic chicken, which was pretty good overall. It was a little too sweet because there was so much sauce, which also made the deliciously crispy parts a bit soggy. But the macaroni salad was good and I was satisfied with the meal.

First stop after arriving in Hawaii! Atmosphere: Very casual, located in a plaza-like area. Food: The honey garlic chicken is all that it is cracked up to be. Everything about the way it tasted was satisfying to say the least. Service: The woman at the counter was extremely friendly and chatted with us while she cleaned up the place. She also kept insisting that the honey garlic chicken was the best thing there, to which she was correct. Good fast food for a cheap price.

I come here at least every other week. One thing this place has better than most is the gravy - good gravy (yay!). I see a lot of raves on the honey garlic chicken, but it tastes a little artificial to me in my opinion. I've been seeing a lot of comments here on the girl behind the counter (the tall one). I would've never believed it until I encountered her yesterday. She's usually not there during weekdays lunchtime. There is another one who is really nice, sometimes the owner's wife runs the counter. They all deliver the food on the RIGHT side of the counter. The utensils and condiments are there, hello! The tall girl puts everything on the LEFT side of the counter. When she announced my order as ready, I stood on the right side for a few minutes because that's where everyone else puts the orders. Then she glared at me and then took my order from the cashier side of the counter and rudely plopped it down in front of me. I hope the owners are reading this - she needs to get with the program and get rid of that attitude. The food is good though - hamburger steak, loco moco, chicken cutlet, roast turkey when they have it. Can you tell I like their gravy? Their mushroom gravy is good too, although it costs more.

Came here the other day for a plate lunch, surprisingly (and unfortunately), it's the only plate lunch place in the salt lake shopping center area. I've tried a lot of their dishes and it's all been pretty mediocre, nothing to write home about, and on par with an L&L. I go here because it's the closest and only place to get a plate lunch close to home. I tried the hamburger steak and it was pretty standard, leaning towards the bland side. Gravy lacked flavor but the patties were well made. The mac salad was the worst kind: warm. Makes me feel like it's just been sitting out all day and going bad. Overall 2.5 stars, I liked the patties, rice was good but gravy and mac salad below average. Their most popular dish is the honey garlic chicken. It's pretty tasty and has a good coating of the honey garlic sauce all over. I would recommend getting it with all rice though. Definitely their best dish, this is what I usually come for. Their prices are reasonable and I though I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, if you're in the salt lake area, this is pretty much your best option.

I've never written one of THESE reviews before... but here I go... Omg! What is everybody talking about? I feel like I have been lead astray by my fellow yelpers!! Okay... The lady at the counter said everything on the menu was really good... hmmm... I tried this place TWICE and both times it was not good at all! Granted, I didn't get the honey garlic chicken (I don't like garlic), the four dishes I did try were tasteless!! Mochiko chicken: no taste at all! Fried noodles: tastes like oil! No flavor! Chicken katsu: sooo fatty it was disgusting! There was no taste unless you used the sauce. BBQ chicken: okaaay. Not the best but it's not that hard to mess up BBQ chicken... I would rather go Soon's if I was in this area. This place was expensive for fatty and tasteless food. Sad/angry face!!

Yelp 365: 016/365 What to do when you can not go back home to eat brunch in between church services, and you are all the way out near Salt Lake shopping center? My suggestion is to make a little stop at this L&L franchise called Islander Drive Inn. This place makes you wonder what they put in that local food to make it better tasting than a lot of the other L&L franchises out there. It could be the great service they give. By great, I mean quick, friendly, and a warm personality out in front to take your order. The menu is a little identical to the L&L menu except they offer specials that the regular L&L menu does not have(like the other L&L franchises). They could do something about the air condition. They blast their AC in here; making this place winter while outside it's summer. The quick, tasty food and warm service gives this place four stars. They just need to lower their AC and/or put something on the menu which would make them stick out more than the other L&L franchises on this island. As always, may the YELP POWER be with you.

Not bad. Small little hole in the wall place thats a bit better than your average L&L . Atmosphere: it has your typical take out feel. Some tables, benches....nothing fancy. The dining facilities are however nice and clean compared to similar places. Its nice, well kept and most importantly...CLEAN! (Everytime i come here someone is cleaning or scrubbing something down) Kitchen noise is a bit loud but seeing as the kitchen is right behind the serving counter, thats quite expected. Staff: the staff was pretty friendly, i usually choose to dine in vs take out, and although your food is served on a disposable plate, the workers bring both your food and drink out to you and are quite nice and have pleasant smiles. Food: ive had the stew, bbq chicken, loco moco, oriental chicken salad, honey garlic chicken and seafood platter. Honestly i dont think you can judge a place based on a one time experience or just a few different plates but i will say overall that portions are quite good and leave you full and presentation is decent (believe me ive seen some pretty sloppy stuff from other places). Because ive tried so many different things i wont go over each one in full detail but can say that everything was well seasoned, tasty and are all things that id order again... Ok, maybe ill go over just one....as everyone says, the honey garlic chicken is really good. Its crispy fried chicken in a sweet honey garlic sauce. Honestly though, i can only go for a mini because although good, i think the sweetness isnt something everyone can keep eating and one regular plate will be way to much. Food was ready fast and was hot, but expect to pay about 10 bucks for a mini and a drink which isnt bad seeing as even the minis fill you up quite well! 4 stars!

The honey garlic chicken always hits the spot, and the ahi with miso sauce is a delicious alternative. Throw in some mac salad, throw in some rice, and you have a quick (but unhealthy) meal. The only complaint is that the wait for the food is around 10-15 minutes, depending on what you order. You can attempt to appease the rumbling stomach by asking for a cup of water. During heavy traffic times the seating space is limited but there are benches and tables outside you can eat on. Very chill spot with upbeat music.

Decided to try this place out again just to see if things improved. Nada! Still the same kind of poor service. The young man taking the order never smiled, played with his kendama while waiting for the orders to be up and never thanked me before I left. So unprofessional there. Why do people still go there when they offer no customer service at all. UGH!

I don't usually crave many things, but the last few months I always get this nagging craving....and maybe it's because it's so close to where I live....but....three words make it all better: Honey Garlic Chicken. Yowza! For that alone I'd give this place 5 stars. Although, we did try the laulau combo, because I was hoping for good laulau nearby, but it was not that great. The gravy fries were also not so hot. I also got a smoothie here, but it's more ice than yum. So...I can't give it a 5. However, the actual inside is really nice, everything seems new, and it's heavily air-conditioned so it's a great place to escape this sweltering humidity. But seriously....say those three words (honey.....garlic.....chicken.....) at the register and make all the bad things in life go away.

Went to Is lander Drive Inn and had a mixed plate. The Honey Garlic Chicken wasn't as good as was mentioned in the previous reviews. I think it was because I had gone to The Alley at Aiea bowl the night before and had their Tasty Chicken; was by far, THE BEST. The hamburger steak wasn't that good; tasted better. Disappointing visit. The next time I'm in Salt Lake Moanalua, I'll be trying the Korean restaurant around the corner; heard good things about it from my friends.

Me and the hubby came here by chance one day because he was dying of hunger. I am always super apprehensive when it comes to drive-in's but I was actually very surprised by this one. He ordered the New York Steak and Shrimp and they cooked it perfectly, medium rare. His only gripe was that the steak wasn't seasoned. I ordered the Kalua Pork Plate and it was sooo delicious! But then again I really like cabbage sooo... yeah. Anyways good place to grab lunch, just wish they accepted card and I would come more often.

Pretty good stuff. I would say it's a bit better than L&L. Honey garlic chicken is delicious, usually get it with fries. As few noted the cashiers can work on their customer service, but I don't really expect much from high school kids.

The food is very good here. I especially like the honey garlic chicken. However, this is not the main reason I am writing this review. The main reason for this review is to let the public and owners know that whoever they currently have working the register on Nov. 19, 2013. It took some time (about 15 rings to pick up), and then he kept me on hold for 15 minutes and hasn't even bothered to let me know what's going on...even though I can hear everything he was saying. He finally noticed the phone (I heard him say, "Oh shoot," as he picked up the phone). I know you might be wondering why I was willing to wait...I am not feeling well and didn't want to think of another place; this place is real close; and I like the food...so I diceded to see what would happen. Anyway, please keep this in mind if you plan to phone order from here. BTW, I always remember a girl at the register, so if this is a new hire, he needs some better training. Cash only.

So I have been on a crusade to find the "perfect" hamburger steak plate lunch. Been nearly every take out joint you can find on the island and don't tell me Rainbows or Zippy's cause you ain't no expert on hamburger steak if you like those places! Hamburger steak has to have some color when cooked, the right shades of brown vs. dark brown. Then the patty must be handmade, not May's cr*p or pressed stuff. Then the "meat" must be a perfect blend of meat and filler (cracker or bread crumbs and egg). You've all been places where it was 100% pure meat or too much filler, yuck. Well on to the review. I can say that aside from New Eagle Cafe on Nimitz that Islander Drive Inn is nearly the BEST place to go and sample the hamburger plate, if you like what I would call is the bestest I have tasted so far. Kinda like the old Violet's grill served when they were in Kalihi back in the 60's. All I can say is dis da winnas in my book!

Since the sky decided to act all crazy tonight, we decided it was probably not a good idea to BBQ. So instead we decided to try another place down the street. I got the Kahlua pork and cabbage plate. Pork was a little salty, but otherwise delish. I got plenty left for my lunch tomorrow. Hubby got the Fried shrimp plate and a cheeseburger. The fried shrimp were ok, nothing special. The cheeseburger was written on the menu as "homemade" and that is what it tasted like. Real meat with real onions in it. Quite tasty. They only take cash, but fear not there is a ATM a few stores down. We will be back to see more of the Islander.

Not sure if I get the name. There's no drive thru, and they spell "inn" like a hotel would. Anyway the food is not bad. I got the saefood special. It came with three fried shrimp, a fried mahi mahi fillet, rice, macaroni salad, and short ribs. It was all pretty decent except the short ribs. There are two types of fat: the type that is cooked properly with the meat so that it is delicious and adds flavor to the meat, and the type that is gelatinous and gross and makes you want to tear it off with your fingers and toss it aside. These short ribs had the latter. It looks like from other reviews that I should have gotten the honey garlic chicken. I'd recommend you follow that advice and steer clear of the short ribs. I wish I had, because the rest of the food on my plate was good and this place has some pretty decent plate lunch values. Just remember to bring cash; no credit cards here.

Discovered this while on a sweet/anything sugar run w/ the b/f. SOOOOO glad we found it. We couldn't resist, the menu looked amazing. If you're craving a quick hearty dish w/ a side of rice. Stop by and try it out. I originally wanted to post 4 1/2 BUT they definitely deserve a 5 star for the extremely great service. Didn't get the cashiers/servers name but she was so friendly and helped us decide our order. We tried the Honey Garlic Chicken and Mochiko Chicken. We've already decided to go back for the Kalua Pig, Garlic Shrimp, and Salmon.

so far i've only tried the fried noodle, fried rice, honey garlic chicken and mac salad. they have a lot to choose from on their menu and food is typical plate lunch style. before i ventured in this place i usually wondered is this place worth eating at? dare i say i like it better than L & L.(reminds me of the one near the airport. orange booths and in need of a thorough cleaning) i liked that they gave me my mac salad in a different container.(i ordered it to go and mac salad as a side) it was also cold so i know they are doing a good job keeping it a descent temp. portions are enough to share w/two hungry people who aren't on a diet. oh and this place excepts CASH ONLY. if you like the food enough to share w/your friends and co workers they also have party platters to choose from.

I work across the street from the Salt Lake Shopping center so when I want to get something to eat here we ago. Not the best plate lunch I've ever had but pretty damned good if you ask me. I usually like to get the hamburger steak, garlic chicken, and or chicken katsu plate. What I hate I about most places that sell the chicken katsu plate they give you these itty bitty quarter sized containers of sauce. What the heck, katsu is meant to be drenched it the stuff! Well Island get extra points from me, and give BIG containers of sauce. Pretty good too, darker tangy sauce. For the hamburger stake they use a darker thicker gravy which I love, burger is not tough and not undercooked it's just right. Honey garlic chicken, that's all I have to say about that no description necessary. There is ample parking since its located in the shopping center. Seating area inside is somewhat small. A group of say 5 would not be able to sit together in the bench style tables. Its a two seat-er facing each other type bench table. There are little stone tables outside that can seat 3 at a time. This place does not accept credit cards, cash only, by they do catering which is pretty high for my standards. They also have a photo touch game in the place since this place is made to order and orders can take a little while to come out of the kitchen. Funny that this is a plate lunch place and you would assume that they would play the local Hawaiian music stations, but they're blasting the top 40, pretty funny if you ask me. Definately a place to check out if in the lake area and hungry for plate lunch.

Yep, the honey garlic chicken is good but so are many of the other items on the menu. The staff is friendly and service is great. Next time you feel the urge to have an ono plate lunch, stop by islander in salt lake you won't be disappointed

I had their mochiko chicken plate and it was delish. The flavor was excellent. Crispy coating, but not hard. Chicken was soft & juicy. There was enough to fill my tummy, but it was so good I wish they had given more.

Good local food. Had the loco moco, tasted good, was filling and cheap.

this place is like another L&L. the food is great not like some places where they serve you pre-cooked chicken or kal-bi. i had the bbq seafood mix plate..it was good, nothing to complain about. the only bad thing is that this place only accepts cash.

I tried this place with my mom today. Decided to try their honey garlic chicken since other reviewers had mentioned it and seemed to like it. I got the mini plate, which came with rice and mac salad. This was more than enough food and was very tastey! The chicken was delish--crunchy with a sweet honey sauce. I definitely recommend trying this dish. My mom had the fried noodles, which were ehh.... The noodles were too thick and didn't have much flavor. I've definitely had better and would skip on these on my next trip here. Also it only came in one size (large) which was way too much. The restaurant is clean and i overall enjoyed my local experience here.

I live in the Salt Lake area and rely on the restaurants at the SL shoppin center for quick meals. Islander has been one of my faves until now. Their beef curry is well flavored with spices and herbs..except now, they have chosen to throw in chunks of head cabbage cores! That's the stringy throw away part of a cabbage. The only veggies in local curry should be onions, carrots and potatoes. Told the counter girl to tell the cook, I am never ordering the curry again. Might conside the honey garlic chicken since others rate it highly. But beware of the beef curry. That lowered their rating from 4 to 3 stars for me.

Chicken was GOOD. Skip the short ribs. Good value.

Okay you plate lunch junkies, here is a place worth spending money on the high carbo plate lunch that is so much part of the Hawaiian local scene. My favorite is the Honey Garlic Chicken Plate. Chicken breaded and deep fried lay on a bed of cabbage with a sweet sour sauce on top. Two scoops of rice and of course their macaroni salad is simple but delicious. The laulau they serve is HUGE. So if you got a bid appetite, this is the place to "grind" (eat).
