NASTY! I am sorry to say the new I love Country Kitchen is NASTY! I stood in line at the old burned down one, I craved there healthy food, I loved the location....butt this one is (as much as it hurts me to say) NASTY! Cold food 1:28pm (lunch time), cafeteria style, portions ok but should be larger for the price, location and style, taste like "nasty"., but there is an improvement, they allow one refill on your soda! My advice Run Forest Run to Karen's Kitchen (1) block away.

I loved this place when it was over by Ala Moana. The food at the Queen Street location is still as good as far as I can tell, but the atmosphere is nothing like it was.

This place is really dirty. Tables, chairs, floors, all sticky. Horrible service. Disgusting food. My boyfriend found a hair in his sandwich, my food was like they scooped it up from trash. They weren't like this when they were by Ala Moana. Never again. Ugh.

I've gone to I Love Country for lunch before and fallen in love with their Roast Turkey plate. I got it again today, but my trip was especially impressive. I walk in as their lunch rush is beginning and I'm greeted by both workers at the counter. I am immediately introduced to the food bar they have to choose entrees and sides. The food at the "salad bar" area looked amazing, but I was still in the mood for the turkey plate. The woman happily took my order, smiled as she did so (thank you!!!) and I waited for no more than 5 minutes for my food. In and out is what I like! I got back to my office and opened my very full to go plate: lots of breast and dark meat (love em both), lots of tossed salad, and lots of mashed potatoes!!! Also a side of cranberry jelly (my fav) and ranch dressing (also my fav). I am in heaven right now and I was compelled to Yelp this. I am so stoked on lunch right now, couldn't ask for better. Great Job!!!

Definately not the same as the place before them. Though the food I ordered tasted decent, everything else like service, cleanliness, menu, and appliances was their downfall. Went with my parents to this place, and we knew that the place before them was gone but we came here with our hopes high in hoping the food would taste as great as the place before them. I ordered the shiitake mushroom and chicken stir fry while my parents ordered the chop steak. When my food came out, I was suprised to see that there was zucchini in my food. Its a good thing that im alright with zucchini because I was surprised to see it in my food. The menu did not say that zucchini was in the dish so that's why I was taken back. My parents were also surprised to see that there was a ton of gravy on their steak. The menu we looked at did not say there was gravy on the steak. And the workers did not even give them the option of wanting gravy or not. My father made the comment that he would have preferred his steak without a pool of gravy. He also doesn't like cauliflower, in which it was added inside his steak as well. There was nothing on the menu that said the steak even came with veggies. Did they give us wrong orders?! When we also dined here, we were disgusted to find dirty tables that have not been cleaned. And the plates we were given were so small with too much food. My salad kept falling off. And when we left, the staff saw us leave but did not bother to say a simple good bye or a thank you. This place has much potential since their still kind of new, but they need to really fix their menu, train their workers better, and keep their place clean. The food was just average but not stuff to write home about. I miss the place before them. It was called queen street cafe. Their food was better and they seemed to just had a better and friendlier environment. Don't think I will come back here.

OMG, I was horrified with the food I got served today. I ordered 2 loco mocos & 1 bacon cheeseburger combo....30.00 DOWN THE DRAIN! First of all my macaroni potato salad was ROTTEN! You could just tell by the smell of it. & the 1 peice of bacon on my daughters combo was deep fried & saugy. No wonder why we were the only ones in there, I should of known.... What a disapointment. This place used to be so good when it was by Ala Moana. I will NEVER EVER GO BACK NOR RECOMENDED TO ANYONE ELSE. I give this place below 0 stars!

Don't come to those place especially when u have that flaming guy working up front. He has no sense of customer service and very rude. The food is not like what it use to be when it was at alamoana. Man! All I can say...don't eat here again. Not worth it.

I'm going to go against the grain here with a positive review as I enjoy their healthy yet tasty fare. I love the kiawe steak wrap (although it does get quite messy if you actually try to eat it as a wrap), and the bodybuilder special is a recovery day favorite. That said, I haven't tried anything that doesn't hold up well over time, and I've only gone in the early evenings, when they are no longer serving cafeteria style but the food mysteriously appears from the back. Service at these times can be a bit slow for a fast food/takeout place, and the staff aren't exactly members of the cult of personality. But if they opened til later, I would certainly pick up dinner here more often.

Back when it was Queen Street Cafe they used to have a pretty decent kiawe grilled steak. With the name change, so has the food. Plate today had some chunks/bits of brown matter that I think they called meat. Not too sure. Absolutely no taste at all. Wish I knew where the real I Love Country Cafe has gone because they had great food.

Husband had the Furikake Mahi, veggies and brown rice. Delicious!! I had the Spinach salad and cajun chicken. Blech! Chicken was dry and the "salad" consisted of a small pile of baby spinach with a small pile of sliced mushrooms on the side of the plate. Kids had "orange" chicken which was overly sweet and not remotely orange. But it came with brown rice and a good sreving of tossed salad (not made with iceberg lettuce) Is the decor less than appealing? Yes. Are the prices FAIRLY reasonable? Yes. Are you likely to see a good smattering of local types from office folks to cops and body builders? Yes. Are the servers a little "slow"? (Catch my drift?) Yes. The man at the table next to us had turkey, mashed potatoes and veggies and it looked delicious. Should have ordered that but was trying to be healthy. So much for that! I hear it's not the same since their place burned down by Ala Moana but I've had worse! Although there are no signs on the door, they do take credit/debit cards.

The quality has really gone downhill since the move... Or maybe they just don't like me. What happened to the housemade ranch instead of gross crap from kraft. I ordered the ahi katsu but instead of soy mustard sauce I got turkey gravy... Eeeew. When I asked for a dressing other than ranch I got a look and total attitude. They never thanked me for my purchase. Too bad I loved the old place and went there all the time.

Good for any meal and parking. Queen st. Is cheaper than other main roads to rent so they are not expensive.

First time trying out this location. I previously sampled their food when a vendor we were doing business with catered from them. They were still at their old location at the time. What stood out before was the furikake mahi, so I ordered it here. We ordered take out, but the workers there were very nice. When we came in we were greeted by a guy sitting at a table who also handed us a menu. I also like the fact that they give out numbers here. It sure did help today since it seemed like most of my coworkers ordered the same thing as I did. They do offer brown rice for no extra charge, which I opted to get. Everything good so far, until I get back to my office. Where's the rice? Upon further inspection, the rice was spread out on the bottom, topped off with the stir fry veggies and finally the furikake mahi. In the words of Tom Jackson and Keyshawn Johnson from ESPN Monday Night Countdown - "C'MON MAN!!!!!" I think there is only four instances where rice should be spread out like that - 1)Under curry or loco moco when you dine in, so that the curry or gravy covers the rice 2)Under an over easy egg to soak up the yolk 3)If it is fried rice 4)In Zipacs. This was all I could think about for the rest of my meal. They could have separated the veggies from the rice and place the mahi on the veggies. It kinda defeated the purpose of getting brown rice since it soaked up the oil from the stir fry. But other than that presentation and logical snafu, the meal was good. The mahi was as ono as I remembered.

Tried this restaurant with some friends and I must say.... With all the hype about how good it was.... Im not sure if I agree... I ordered the salmon blt and my food was way too salty to enjoy... I would not recommend this dish however, I did see the eggs Benedict look pretty good... Maybe I'll give this place another chance...

Finally found where they moved to and seems not the original people that was on Piikoi. Seems to be runned by Filipinos, food tastes a little diff, diff menu but still all good.

The last time I had gone to a ILCC was quite some time ago. Had an appointment in the area so I stopped by the Queen St. location. Food was okay but not like how I remember it being when I used to go to the NEX location all the time. Servings were huge and the local fried rice was decent. my Loco Moco was pretty good except my patty was a bit over-cooked and my mac salad was just smashed down on the top of my eggs. I remember at other locations they would put it into a separate little container. It was okay but if I go back I'll head to the NEX location next time.

Gone are the days when the thought of eating a plate lunch at I Love Country would me cause a small splotch of drool to form on the corner of my mouth. I remember standing in line at the ala moana location and watching them cook up some nice stir fried dishes. I'd usually get brown rice and greens to trick myself into thinking I was being healthy. I really liked their BBQ chicken and fish dishes as well. Unfortunately, going down hill is somewhat of an understatement for thiis place...it's more like they fell off a cliff. I stepped into the Queen street location, after not eating at ILCC in many, many years and was sorely disappointed. It seemed like all of what made the old place great, had moved to the country instead. I had the Mochiko chicken salad and it was pretty bad. The chicken was soggy (with oil) and tasteless. My friend had some fish with fries and his was equally bad. The one good thing was I thought the dressing for the salad was pretty good. This and the A/C was cold (it was hot out) were the only pluses that come to mind. Oh well, the good 'ol I Love Country will have to live forever in my memories. Sadly, a generous, 2 stars. :(

Their thanksgiving turkey package included (off their website): one 14-16 lb. fresh whole roasted turkey, country style herb stuffing, homemade turkey gravy, ranch style mashed potatoes, oven roasted mixed vegetables, sweet potatoes, corn coblets, whole cranberry sauce, and homemade pumpkin bread. Price tag: $139.99 plus tax. Everything above was placed in (3) cardboard soda boxes when I went to pick it up on Thanksgiving morning. First box: a large foil pan with the turkey lying on a bed of the following - mixed vegetables, corn coblets (about 1 whole corn chopped into 6 pieces), sweet potatoes, roasted potatoes, stuffing (the ingredients are still in their original form but chopped, not mixed & mashed up together like the the normal stove top type. Second box: a medium sized foil pan of mashed potatoes. Third box: a small styrofoam container of cranberry sauce, (2) medium styrofoam bowls of gravy, a saran wrapped loaf of pumpkin bread, and a package of six dinner rolls (the rolls were not listed on the package description so it was a plus). The turkey was good, lots of white meat and it wasn't dried out. It was moist and flavorful. I preferred the cranberry sauce with my turkey because the gravy wasn't as thick as I like it to be. The veggies weren't as tasty as they looked but it was plentiful. The mashed potatoes were yummy, very creamy and it went well with the not so rich gravy. Skipped the dinner rolls. The pumpkin loaf didn't have much flavor. My grandma did like it though. It's a good thing my mom purchased a custard pie from Foodland earlier in the morning because the loaf didn't feel right to serve as the dessert. Overall I think this turkey package is great for a family that doesn't want or have time to cook. There's other prepared meals out there from Safeway, Times, Zippy's, etc. for way less than what I paid for but the difference is this one is hot and ready to serve with a nice presentation of the main dish. The food is more on the healthier side, so even though I was stuffed after consuming all that, I didn't feel sick or weighted down by oily or fatty food. I would definitely order this package again, but if I had a choice to custom order it I would change a few things. I'd also would love it if they could throw in a spiral ham and potato salad for a little more. That would have made it perfect. There were (6) of us and we only ate about half the food. Looks like we'll be having this for the next (3) meals. Hopefully it all will taste good reheated as it did when it was fresh.

I've been coming here for the last week on my staycation. I usually have the guys at work go to the Navy Exchange location. I tried this out since I was in town. They have a wide range menu. I enjoy the "Body Builder special" Cause I'm such a big body, no just kidding. Brown rice, poached chicken and vegetables. One day, they gave me the wrong order but I ate it anyways. The korean chicken was good too. FYI, I don't dare walk into the rest room. LoL, some things are better not knowing. G

I've tried this place three times now, thinking I might be able to get something healthy out of them. The first time I ordered the Cobb salad. They have no vinaigrette dressing. So you can choose from either a sour ginger vinegar sauce or a fatty, creamy dressing. The salad was large, and had plenty of ingredients, but the shredded chicken was very dry. Wendy's and McDonalds have better salad. The second time I ordered the turkey platter. I didn't want mashed potatoes, but the only other side she offered me was French fries. When I got my food it was covered in gravy. All of it. Even the salad (which is just iceberg lettuce with some carrot slivers and one sliced tomato) was drenched in gravy. The turkey was mediocre, being very dry aside from the gravy. Mashed potatoes were similarly mediocre. The garlic butter toast is amazing, but I only had one tentative bite since I was trying to eat healthy. The last time, and it will be the last, I asked if they had grilled fish. After conferring among one another, they said that they did, that the funikake fish of the day was grilled. I said I would have that, with steamed brown rice. Ok. They said it came with Asian vegetables. Sounded good. What I got was a heavy styrofoam box full of brown fried rice, vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, bean sprouts) that seemed to have been stir fried in butter, and three pieces of breaded (fried) fish on top. I ate 1/3rd of it and threw the rest away. It was pretty good, but not what I ordered or wanted. All three meals were between $12 and $16, making this by far the most expensive place in the food court. Complaints are met by blank stares. There is a significant language barrier issue. The NEX is amazing, and the food court is popular. Get rid of this place and put in something good. Or just let one of the great tent/kiosk restaurants take over that space so they can speed production. Mr. Gyro's always has a line and I bet they could make a larger variety of Mediterranean food faster with the use of the kitchen currently being wasted by I Love Country Cafe.

I work right down the street from this place, and I finally decided to try it out...I should have read all of the reviews first! Service was horrible!!! First off, the front counter person had no customer service whatsoever, and I could barely understand him. It wasn't just the language barrier, but he was grunting alot and making weird noises and I tried to tell him my order. He wasn't friendly at all. Second, their prices don't even match their online menu prices! I went to order the bacon cheeseburger, and the man charged me $9.25 when it clearly says $8.95 on the menu. Also, I wanted to upgrade to seasoned fries instead of regular, and when I did, he charged me an additional $2.25 when it also states that it's only $1.50 on the menu! Because of the communication barrier, I wasn't able to explain this to the front counter guy and just told him that I'll pay the extra $2.25 anyways. Their idea of taking my order consisted of grabbing a scrap piece of paper that was laying around and scribbling down what I wanted, and handing it to the people in the back. I waited about ten minutes before I received my food, and then left (I had ordered to go) and low and behold when I got back to work and opened up my plate my burger had NO bacon on it and my fries were NOT upgraded to the seasoned fries that I had paid an extra $2.25 for, but I guess that's what I get when I enter an establishment that still uses scratch paper to take orders. Needless to say I was livid, but did not go back because my lunch hour was almost over. I would not recommend this place. Kakaako has a lot of great lunchtime eateries, and this is not one of them!

There's nothing special about this place. They offer breakfast items all day, have the normal plate lunches and some Filipino specialties like lechon. They have photos of their food posted but the name of the item is above it so it's a bit confusing. I ended up looking at a take-out menu to choose what I wanted to eat. The breakfast portions were small. It was half the box but it's spread out to look like a lot. The beef for the Spanish beef and eggs were overcooked. The beef was dry and hard that it broke off a piece of the plastic fork. The mochiko chicken was okay but I've had better at other places. Overall the food is not appealing and if I had an option, I'd rather drive to Ward Warehouse for better food.

Hit here for breakfast while waiting on my U-Haul and was pleasantly surprise. The potatoes weren't that good and won't get again as basically were pre-seasoned over baked frozen potatoes but the bacon was crispy and the Denver omelet was pretty damn good which was surprising for Hawaii. Will repeat. Don't come here though if you are looking for a dining experience though, as the other folk have posted it's basically a dive. Still it's a dive with a pretty solid breakfast.

I used to like this place a few years back. We still go for lunch break every now and again. I probably will never return though after the last experience. First off, the guy taking orders needs to be fired immediately. He is so hard to understand and he is very unprofessional. I get that it's not like a super important job but have a little courtesy, as you are the face of this once pretty great establishment. I ordered the Kiawe mushroom steak and it wasn't disgusting but it was supposed to come with vegetables and salad but I only got salad. For 14 bucks I got green salad and rubbery fat steak that was by no means worth it. I don't know why they let this place deteriorate like they did. Maybe it's a new owner or something but you are failing and I won't be returning.

There were 2 Filipino guys working, one of them walked right in front of us as we walked in with no smile or greet, the other guy was near the kitchen entrance he saw us come in and also did not greet us, we stood there for a good 7 minutes until the guy near the kitchen sloppily said can I help you, I ordered a strawberry smoothie and he walked away than came back and told the other guy "hey strawberry smoothie" he scooped the ice and went into the kitchen than came out a few minutes later with the smoothie, said here and put it on the counter, I will never go back here because the customer service SUCKED and so did the smoothie!!!

This review is for the catering services. I use these folks A LOT for work because gosh darn they are the easiest and most convenient people to work with! Need to feed 20 parents for a 6pm meeting that night and want it delivered? No problem! Have a weekend retreat to feed 10 but want it delivered hot and fresh? You got it! Can I pay you after the fact! Well of course but only because my company has an account with them and are repeat customers =) Overall, the food is consistently good, fresh, and hot when delivered. Some things are better than others in my opinion but their catering people are my fail safe. When I do order, I usually always get the chicken picatta (yum, lightly creamy with capers!) and steamed veggies (always perfect never over done).

Don't come here. I'm not sure what meat product was put on my eggs benedict but it tasted like spam and had the texture of leather. Super stick and shady on the inside. Never again.

Debating between 1 & 2 stars but to be fair I start off with five stars and took away one star for every wrong that they did. Actually they would have a zero. If you watch "That 70s show" the cashier reminds me of FEZ and I can not understand what he is saying. 1. While waiting to order the cashier/food runner walked in the kitchen instead of taking our order. 2. When the cashier\food runner dropped our plates I was doing work. He didn't give me a chance to move my work, he proceeded to put the plate on my work, there was so much space on the table that he could have put it anywhere else but directly on my work (which the plate was dirty beneath and I had to wipe the gunk off my work, thank goodness there was a plastic covering the part that was messed.) 3. My husband ordered "scrambled eggs" he got "easy over." 4. I ordered the fried sesame tofu and it is pretty much always inconsistent. This time it was fried on the outside and somehow when you picked up the pieces or bit it, plain old water was soaked in there and it was dripping/squirting out ( I had never experienced this type of variation and it's my bad because I keep ordering the Seseme Tofu, in my defense a few years ago it was really good). 5. Fez and the middle age Filipino lady in the kitchen have really loud disrupting conversations from the cash register yelling into the kitchen and vice versa throughout your whole meal. That's how I scored this a Zero.

Since they closed the Ala Moana location, this is my first time to the Queen Street establishment. For some reason, it seems that this place is not the same. The food was OK but I wasn't impressed. I was more like "disappointed" as the food didn't win me over. I ordered their banana pancakes and was impressed 5 slices came. It was way too much and couldn't finish it. As I was waiting for my food, I looked at their menu as well as the snacks and baked goods on the counter. They didn't look good at all. The prices were on the high side and as I walked out I told myself that I most likely will not come here again soon.

I used to love the Old place back when it was on Piikoi. Food was top notch and service was very professional. Now the food and service are Hit or miss. It's a gamble when you order the food. Sometimes the food is made perfectly other days they just mess up. Food will come to you over cook and dry. Or under or over seasoned. This is the fault of management. Now onto the service. It all depends who is behind the counter that day. If you get the tall Filipino guy then you will be treated like a KING. But if you get the short Filipino guy with lisp that always uses a hat...then you will be treated like a B###H. On numerous times when I go there I'm very respectful and always tell him thank you. I always get no respond. Idiot acts like a DIVA. There was one situation where they messed up my wife's order. She ordered the Veggie skillet. She got the Sunrise skillet. Which had meat in it. I tell the cashier about the issue. She goes ahead an fixes the problem. My wife gets her Veggie skillet but this time the potatoes are not cooked. It was hard like a rock. It wasn't cook thoroughly. I tell the cashier the problem and she is very apologetic. But instead of correcting the problem she gives us a slice of banana bread for free. WTF?!!! My wife's breakfast is like $10 and this idiot gives us slice of banana bread that's worth $2. If the owner was there I know he would not have done that. The owners and higher ups are nice people and are very professional. It's just the employees that need to get there act together. And change their attitude. Treat EVERYONE like royalty and not just a few. And maybe I Love Country Cafe can be a place I can LOVE AGAIN.

I just had take out from here. It was turkey with gravy and apparently stuffing on the bottom. The stuffing was rotten. I mean - garbage rotten. (Note that it was covered with the turkey and gravy so I didn't know at first). This is the first time I have had food this bad. Now I am feeling sick. I used to love this place when it was by Ala Moana. Should be ZERO stars!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED!????

First time I came here was with my mom. We entered the place, looked at the menu and decided to go elsewhere. Second time I came here was with my friend, Joanna L. which was last week. Now I can say that there was a reason why the first time I came here, I quickly left. I had a hard time ordering food because to be honest, nothing was really appealing to me a whole lot. I ordered mochiko chicken. I'm going to just say I've had better. My friend was waiting to put her order in. There was only one person working the front area. He was handing out the foods to the customers waiting at tables. My friend was waiting for a good five minutes until finally someone from the kitchen came out to take her order. I sat down at a table and when he brought my food, the salad dressing was ranch. I wanted thousand island so I went to ask the guy working the front and he told me they ran out for the day but maybe tomorrow they will have. Umm...what? Okay...well I won't be coming back TOMORROW or any other day after that. The place didn't feel and look clean. Overall, it was just a terrible experience. I really miss the I Love Country Cafe that was part of where Eggs N Things is located now in Ala Moana. Such a bummer because that place had good food and decent service.

I'm going to echo many previous reviewers. I used to come here regularly when it was at the Ala Moana location and enjoyed the food, although the service was always a little slow (it was worth the wait because you knew they were cooking your food fresh right then). They've been at the Queen street site for awhile, but I just got around to checking them out a couple months ago. I saw quite a few designated stalls, but are super TIGHT (and I have a little car!). The restaurant ambiance needs some help. The decor is awful, and, as others have said, it's just really cluttered with boxes and crap. This kind of stuff doesn't bother me at lunchtime though, as long as the food is good. I ordered a mixed plate with the fish of the day, mochiko chicken, brown rice, and mixed veggies. The mochiko chicken was good, but the fish was kind of fishy and I don't know why restaurants can't seem to cook brown rice - it's so often dry. The veggies were pretty bland. It was a little pricey ($11 or $12), but would've been enough for two meals, had I liked the fish, rice, and veggies. There were several other things on the menu that looked good though, so I went back again last week. This time I ordered the country chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. The chicken and veggies were pretty good, but the gravy was a little too salty. The mashed potatoes were instant, which is unacceptable to me. I was born in Texas and in my family, instant potatoes are NOT mashed potatoes. They are some other alien creature that should be avoided at all costs. Not good. =( My dining partner ordered the salmon wrap with french fries. She said the salmon wasn't good, but the fries were. We didn't take our leftovers. Gave them ONE more chance yesterday and tried their breakfast. We shared the Sunrise Skillet (3 eggs with bacon, ham, onions, potatoes, cheese, and tomatoes). It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It didn't seem like there were three eggs on there. And some of the potatoes were still kind of hard. We also tried a homemade english muffin. It was okay. To quote my dining partner, "It's very, uh, yeasty." That was pretty accurate. I had no problem with the service. Everyone that I encountered was friendly. Lesson learned: If you're going to go to I Love Country Cafe, stick with the chicken and fries. ;-)

NOT AS GOOD AS BEFORE. I remember when I Love Country Café was located near Ala Moana Shopping Center, currently Eggs n Things. They were awesome!! They have totally down graded. The parking is tight, with reserved signs everywhere. I only saw 3 or 4 stalls reserved for the café. When you enter the café, there's tables and chairs directly in front the walk way. To the top left corner, you'll hear the flat screen TV. Beneath it on the left hand side is a mound of boxes, which looks like their shipment of supplies/replenishments. Everything just looks so run down and unorganized. To the right is humongous pictures of the plates....as if you're blind! The menu is screaming at you. And there's pictures all over the walls, towards the ceilings, it just looks so confusing. You can't even figure out what you want, especially cuz the lady is waiting at the counter (not smiling) and saying "Can I help you....can I help you." We ordered: -- hamburger and french fries --garlic shrimp with mixed veggies --korean chicken with kim chee The lady who took our order was the chef who cooked our food. She got one of our orders wrong. She served garlic shrimp with no veggies. We sent that plate back. I was kind of taken away by the korean chicken with kim chee. It was a pile of kimchee overloaded on top of my chicken. I don't know how I feel about the taste, being that my chicken was soggy with kimchee juice all over it. I asked the other girl for ketchup and she just pointed to the freezer and said "ova there." Um, no customer service at all. she barely spoke english. Bathroom: 0/5 No room to walk to the restroom as their catering containers are lined up against the walls making it hard to get through. No toilet paper and no paper towel refills. So I wiped my hands on my pants. Huge gallons of pine sol bottles were opened on the floor. Best Part: As we were eating our lunch, the lady who took our order and cooked our food, answers the phone. She starts yelling really loud in her language. No phone etiquette at all. She was so loud that we all stopped to look at her. Even the table next to us was in startled. I'm probably never going back. Not a good experience.

Ah, I Love Country Cafe used to be such a mainstay in Hawaii for healthy, fast, local style food. Sad to say, it's a shadow of its former self. The location isn't too bad, close to Ward and a bunch of businesses, and the service was alright. Decided to order the Furikake Salmon special they had. I assumed it must be similar to the Furikake Mahi. The fish was lightly battered and covered in a reasonably tasty furikake/panko mix. Had a decent consistency to it, wasn't too soft or overly cooked. All served on a large pile of brown rice and stir-fried veggies. It was tasty for how healthy I can assume it was (maybe minus the oils used in frying). For near $10, you get a fair amount I guess. If I'm in the area and in the mood for healthy food, I'll come back and try something else. But not TOO compelled to come running back though.

Once you pass it you have to turn around or you'll miss it. It's further back from the main road, lots of parking during peak lunch hours on Saturday. Food was alright. There was a lot of it, so bring help or order the smaller version. They have pics of their dishes once you walk In and that's helpful because it looks like the pic. lots of different food to choose from. 1 free refil for fountain drinks and free water when you sit in.

The owners needs to WAKE UP! Please serve food that you would only eat yourself! I ordered the Rosemary Roast Pork. The roast pork was "Today's Special", but I think its more like last week special that they just threw into the microwave to heat up. Have you had left over food that just sat in your fridge for a week and decided to heat up for a late night snack? That's exactly what it tasted like!! The pork was tough and dry like beef jerky. Please look at the photo of my fork that broke!?! The plate was a regular seem more like a mini. I give up on I Love Country Cafe.... Pro: - Mash potatoes tasted fresh and had a nice texture -Good portion of salad -Quick service Con: -Main dish tasted like crap(dry and tough) -Portion was too small for a Regular plate for its price If you like small well balanced portions with the main meat entree tasting like old left overs then you should definitely come to this place. Thank you I Love Country Cafe for ruining my saturday lunch!

Been to the ala moana location several times before and now they have moved to this new location. The hamburger steak I ordered was very salty. In another visit I ordered their Ahi Katsu, but the dipping sauce recipe seemed to have changed from the original...I liked the original better. I'm not sure if they have different chefs now but the taste of their food has changed. The prices on their menu also went up considerably. I might stop by once a year if I am in the area but there are better options out there.

Haven't been to this location since they moved from their Piikoi St. location. Lots of parking when I went on a late lunch weekday and lunch on weekend, wide variety on the menu, price for the quantity and quality is a tad to much where I wouldn't want to visit too often to explore their large menu. But I will visit again.

Wow... What happened to ICC? I used to love this place. I just drive by the restaurant on Queen street and decided to turn around and buy dinner. First thing, the guy greeted me with a "we're closing in 10 minutes so you cannot eat here." Well I wasn't planning on it anyway...FYI. Secondly I ordered the cornmeal chicken. When I got it it looked real bad and just looked like they didn't really care about the product they are putting out. Soo disappointed. Probably won't ever come back here.

Stopped in for lunch take out. Lots of choices, so it took awhile to decide. There's lots of yummy looking plates, but a bit pricey, like $10 for a small, $14 for regular plate. I chose chicken fried chicken, with mashed potatoes, green beans and sausage gravy. It was good, nice portion, and lots of green beans! I noticed all the customers at the tables were waiting for food. They did get their plates delivered while we were waiting, which seemed like it took a long time. I'd say at least ten minutes to get our take out. I'll probably go back to try some of the other things on the menu, but like others here on yelp, I miss the old Ala Moana location.

Not the same as before... blows now. Chicken dry, eating area dirty, service awful, but there is only one person running everything it looks like. Miss the old place, sad it burned down

Use to go here all the time back in the 90's must have new owners. Place is dirty and breakfast was marginal. Had the breakfast potatoes and the onions and bell peppers were raw. Service was bad too.

I "used to " Love Country Cafe. i remember the old store on piikoi. you pick from an array ingredients displayed in front of you, then they cook it. that WAS awesome. nothing really special about this new place. you get a lot of food and you can order breakfast all day. i'd eat again here if they are the only place open. otherwise, i'd try other places next time.

Went in for lunch and was greeted by someone who could care less. Personality - zero. No smile. Feeble English skills. Food passable but nothing skecial.

Ever since they re-opened at the Queen Street site the quality of the food has gone downhill. The quality & flavor was much better at their original site near Ala Moana. Today will be the last time I eat there! Blah!

I ordered the macadamia nut crusted fish of the day salad, and was very pleasantly surprised with how tasty this dish was, considering we only went here when we couldn't find another restaurant we were planning to go to. The fish was really fresh, really tasty. I don't know if I was particularly hungry, but the salad tasted really good too, especially the crisp cucumber and tasty tomatoes. I would definitely go here again.

My wife and I both ate breakfast here today and the food was nothing short of terrible. Poor service and poor ambiance. Please don't waste your money!

Meh. The service and food was so-so. I had the Blackened Trio, which was actually pretty tasty, but my sister ordered the mochiko chicken. Let me tell you: hot. mess. It was sour and mushy.. MUSHY! Yuck. Well, the only thing that I was impressed with was their variety. They have tons of things to choose from, many being fairly healthy, and it's pretty affordable (the small portions are generous). But definitely be careful of what you order, it's a hit or miss kinda situation there.

It's not great food but it beats waiting in a line at other popular places for breakfast. I got the waffle and my friend got the omelet. Yelp 365 Challenge #267/365

We usually go here for lunch, so we thought we'd try the breakfast. A little over priced for breakfast. For the same price you could go to Big City Diner and enjoy yourself. Because it's convenient and close to my work place, we go here. But an hour after eating the fried rice combo plate, my mouth is terribly dry, which is making me come to the conclusion that they use MSG. Very disappointing that a "healthier choice" type of restaurant is using MSG. Guess I won't be going back there again. I've never noticed before if they used MSG, but I definitely now know that they use it for breakfast.

Never failing to amaze with their ability to disappoint, another local eatery has surpassed my low expectations. This place conveniently offers everything you could hope to avoid in one location. The high prices of Waikiki, the scrap metal industry of Queen Street and the culinary skill of a 4 year old. Atrocious interior, uncooked potatoes, and a sandwich I could make all for the low low price of $15.

do not order eggs Benedict. It was insulting to the egg. 10 dollars for 1 egg and alot of potatoes.

I've been working in this area for 3 years and never knew I love country cafe was right around the corner. If you drive too fast, you'll miss it. The parking lot is in front of the building and I didn't see the large sign until I was past the parking lot. I originally was going to try Fresh Cafe but the parking was ridiculous. I walked in and it has a small lobby/eating area. The place looked clean and the AC felt great. I could only see the specials on the walls but no full menu. It wasn't until a few minutes later I see the full menu on the counter near the register. I normally get the roast turkey plate, but today I was craving veggies. So, I got the half order of the veggie delight sandwich. Cost $5.76. Not bad. Total time from order to walking out the door, less than 10 minutes. Nice. I get back to my desk and I was worried that the sandwich was going to be small because the bag felt light. Well, boy was I surprised. It was huge. I literally had to smoosh the sandwich to eat it. It was filled with everything I was craving for. (I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant). It had huge chunks of avocado, jack cheese, tons of sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded carrots, mayo, and mustard. On the side was a huge carrot piece, a nice sized celery stick, and a pickle slice. The extra crunchy veggies on the side eliminated my need for potato chips (which I had stashed under my desk). It was healthy and filled me up enough. Being pregnant, my stomach can only hold so much food at one sitting. So, this was sufficient for me. If I had full stomach capacity availability, I would probably need the whole sandwich. Parking was simple and available. No long lines, no long waiting, food was good and I didn't feel jipped. I docked some stars because they should put their full menu closer to the door or make it easier to find for those of us who haven't been there before. The server was just ok. I felt like she was rushing me. I wasn't sure if I wanted something else and after she asked me, "anything else?" she was tapping her pen on the counter. Uncool. Had she RECOMMENDED something, I might have just bought it. Suggestive selling works. Especially on hungry pregnant women. LOL!

Now located at 885 Queen Street, they have a smaller selection of hot foods at the counter to choose from, and you can also order food from the kitchen for $2 more. For about $9, we got a huge serving. You get a choice of mashed potatoes, rice or brown rice all for the same price. Chicken Cutlet - 3 star - they gave a lot, but the chicken and batter was dry. The sauce was flavorul, but there wasn't that much. They seem to skimp on the sauce. There's only a few places that serves tasty mac salad, and because their mac salad was tasty with a tinge of mustard, it's worth eating it again. Turkey plate - 3 1/2 star - huge amount of fresh shredded turkey on stuffing covered in a reserved amount of sauce. Shoyu chicken - 4 star - two pieces of chicken thighs in a teriyaki/honey sauce. The sauce tasted good, and the chicken was ok. Teriyaki Chicken - 3 star - regular boneless teriyaki chicken I'd get at a cafeteria. I would go here again because there's parking and there's a variety of items to choose from, but not as often because it tastes similar to cafeteria or hospital food and not as tasty as some other restaurants or lunch trucks in town, maybe because the don't use as much oil, but at least some items are a litlte healthier than restaurants that add a lot of oil to their food.

I used to love the Ala Moana store before they closed down, so I decided to try lunch here today. I asked the cashier for a recommendation and she pointed me to the "Kiawe Steak and Shrimp" for $10.99. Knowing ILCC's reputation for preparing really diet-conscious dishes I inquired about how the food was prepared and if the Queen St. branch was similar to the one at Ala Moana that I had loved in the past. The cashier went on to say that all their food was "made to order" fresh. Assuming that "made to order" meant that the food was cooked when ordered, I was pleased and paid for a plate. I was a little surprised that the cashier didn't ask me how I wanted my steak prepared, but I figured the chefs probably had a signature doneness for their steaks. When the food arrived at my table I was taken back that it looked nothing at all like it was cooked just a few minutes ago. The sauce had settled and the rice, vegetables, shrimp and steak itself was between lukewarm and cold. The steak wasn't actualyl at all like the description, it was already pre-cooked and cut up when I had expected it to be a whole piece (perhaps my mistake for assuming, but I felt like I was mislead by the cashier just a little.) I probably will not go back here for lunch, but I'm sure their breakfast or other meals aren't as disappointing as the one I had today. So order at your own risk :)

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
