Korean food in kalihi....wait what! Yes, that's right there is a whole in a wall korean place located in kalihi area. You have to come at the right time because parking here is very limited. This place shares a parking lot with other small mom and pop stores. This is a go to spot for us whenever we want an all you can eat yakiniku. For about $22, which includes gratuity, you can get many different choices of meat. Theres kalibi, chicken, pork belly (our favorite), tripe, and much more. Beside the meat they give you panchan (side dishes) which is also unlimited. You can also ask for korean miso and garlic for your meats. Rice and soup is also included. Another plus about this place is its B.Y.O.B. Don't have alcohol, well don't worry about that they also sell soju with different flavors and beer.

Okay so I have been to a few Yakiniku places in my time. I was going out with my buddies/coworkers and on first impressions were not good. The floor and tables felt sticky, like they used gum to clean the tables. The wait help was ok, but for the most part they just asked if we wanted more water or try to have us eat more food. The food was pretty good. Most of the food we order wasn't frozen, which is something very rare to find on this island. The price on the wall said that the all you can eat was $22, but when we went to pay it turned out to be $28 with no tax. Then on top of that they, themselves added a $10 tip. If I remember correctly, the patrons were the ones that leave the tip not the people serving you. I dont recomend going to this place unless you are really, really need food.

My first review ever. Here I go! Food: We ordered the Garlic Kobe Beef, Korean Kalbi, and Bbq pork. The banchan came first of course. We got a "secret sauce" and a salt/ pepper oil sauce, kimchee, choy sum, bean sprouts, salad, and shoyu potato which all tasted good but according to the menu, we were also supposed to receive a bean paste stew or seaweed soup which we never got and mind you I'm a soup person which is why this is 4 stars. :( We first tried the Kalbi. It was regular. Tasted good but not something to keep talking about. We then tried the Bbq pork which my boyfriend says was the best but I'm like, meh. Last was the garlic Kobe beef which I thought was the best. Melt in your mouth Kobe! It was so smooth, easily grilled. 30 seconds and you're good. Eat that bad boy with no sauce and damn you got your eyes closing and mouth saying, Mmmm! Tastes good with the salt/pepper/oil too! Just writing about all of this is making me want to eat there tonight! Dinner was 23.95 per person and they already include tip in the bill. Not bad I guess. Make sure not to waste or they will charge you for wasted food. Appearance: So, I am a Kalihi girl. I am used to the grungy hole in the wall restaurants so I was not afraid. This place from the outside really screamed "hole in the wall" but once you get inside, it's really not bad at all. Blacked out doors, Vinyl flooring, pics on the wall of food, one half of the restaurant is regular tables while the other half has the grilling plates in the table. Bathroom in a small hall way but I didn't use it so I don't know how it looks like. Service: Was good. Of course the language barrier meant we couldn't really make small talk with our servers but they came whenever we needed anything such as changing the plates or refilling our banchan or drinks. Overall, I know I will come back to this place over and over again especially since it's so close to home.

Located right next to New Diners in Kalihi. Their price went from 19.99 to 22.99. The food was alright, not great not horrible but just alright. Customer service was horrible. The servers looked like they hated their job. They don't even check up on you and you're automatically forced to pay 15% tip which I think they don't even deserve. I honestly wouldn't come back here if they don't step up their customer service game. I'd pick sikdorak anyday. Way better customer service.

Rude, rude, rude. We gave this place a fair share of chances just for the experience to get worse.

This is a great korean restaurant. There isn't much in terms of ambiance; the fluorescent lighting and laminate floors leave much to be desired. However, their food is good and very affordable! They have two sections of the reataurant, the AYCE side and the regular menu side. Although the AYCE was tempting and I was hungry, we saw the very reasonable prices for dinner entrees and opted for ordering off the menu. It was a good thing, as we left full and with leftovers. Most of the entrees are $10. Super affordable!! And they come out of these cool sizzling platters, with rice and banchan. They also offer combinations of you can't decide between two favorites. I was able to try the spicy pork (super flavorful and delicious), the meat jun (also very good) and the kalbi (good! But all I can think about is that spicy pork!!). The meats come on a bed of grilled onions too!! We also got the vegetable spicy tofu soup which was really garlicky and noms. Everything tasted so good! Even the ban chan was good!! They didn't have a lot of variety of banchan, but you can get refills of what you like. The location is a little sketchy, but I'm sure I'll be back, even just to pick up lunch. I will have to try the AYCE too! Can't wait!!

This place is a hole-in-the-wall kind of feel, located next to the postal office and Richie's diner. Parking is always limited here, but despite the parking and shady location, the food here is really good!! The Yakiniku is buffet style and there's about 12 different meat choices, which are all accompanied by sides dishes. Such as, Kimchee, bean sprouts, spinach, and mixed veggies. For dinner prices the buffet is $22ish per person and I think lunch is a bit cheaper. They also have entrees and sides you can buy separately if buffets aren't your thing. The entree foods are decent, but I would suggest only coming here for the buffet. That's worth the money!! The one star deduction is due to service. The aunties there are not very attentive and it takes a lot of hand raising and excuses mes to get their attention. Despite the below par service I think I will be coming back because the buffet was good and cheap! A great place for groups on a budget! Also, last time I went it was for a friend's bday and our group was pretty loud (as usual),but the restaurant didn't seem to mind us or try to shoo us away. Haha! So yes, we'll be back soon~

It lacks simple things like courtesy in the servers. Even my 8 year old had to pay full price. And they do a mandatory 10% tip for all people who order the all you can eat Kalbi. So, was the meat good? Yes. But for the money, I'll be going to 678 instead. Better ambiance, AC, and no mandatory charges, like they assume I won't tip well?! I don't get it.

Skip it. Portions on the special were small, sides were old and basic, place was dirty, and the owner straight up scowled when we seated, and again when we asked for a to go box, and the check.

Mmm, grilled mackerel. Large, oily, moist, salted perfectly. Paired with banchan (kimchee cabbage and diced daikon; choi sum; moyashi/bean sprouts; and summer squash) and slightly dry/slightly sticky white rice (how the fook do they manage to do that, I dunno), it's like a field trip to heaven. My macho local Japanese male friend swears by the chix katsu, and my Okinawan girlfriend (raised here but now an entertainment-industry Angeleno) loved the beef kal bi short ribs, both Hawai'i-Korean classics, common yet hard to do well. Neither was overcooked, both seasoned perfectly, and balanced the juicy with the crispy/hard quite well. My meditation teacher ordered the seafood jun/pancake (seafood=anchovy and ika), stuffed with as much veggies (uh, green onions, white onions, and I wanna say, squash or something zucchini-ish) as proteins. It was similarly perfect: just the right combo of fluffy and cakey, of being both ingredient-full and starchy/grainy. But oh man, that mack. Will. Keep. Me. Going. Back.

Definitely brings the taste of korea! It is to the pricier side but the service and the food itself are excellent! Ive been craving for korean bbq for a while and ive been looking for good korean restaurants that are legit and this restaurant definitely impressed me!compared to korea i would give 4 stars but since it is the best korean bbq i found here in hawaii so far i give it 5 stars!

I discovered this hole-in-the-wall restaurant through my boyfriend's `ohana (who happen to be part-Korean, perhaps a reason why I have never had a negative experience as far as customer service goes, unlike other people). My most recent visit was great, except for one thing. There was a bus tray sitting out behind one of the booths, dirty dishes displayed for all to see (cringe!). I noticed this on my way to the bathroom, but when I returned, the dishes were gone. Whew! My boyfriend ordered the meat jun/spicy chicken combo and I got the spicy chicken/kalbi combo. Our sides came first (rice, kimchee, bean sprouts, etc.) and the food arrived less than 10 minutes later. We enjoyed everything. The kalbi was slightly undercooked and had a bit too much fat, but I still liked it. The spicy chicken definitely compensated for the lack of meat on the kalbi, and it filled me up. Good portion sizes! We walked out of Han Yang satisfied, especially having only paid $25 total for two sodas and two combo plates. This is a favorite spot for us, and we hope they will take into consideration some of the points on their negative reviews so that they can increase their business/profits and give others a better experience!

Worst service a customer can experience. Would never recommend as all staff workers and owners are very rude and disrespectful. There are other yakiniku/Korean restaurant around the island. Would recommend them over this one.

Despite the noticeable cockroach smell near the walls, this place is fantastic. It's cheap, filling, and very delicious. We had Kalbi, Chicken, and Bibimbap and loved it.

Out of all the Yaikiniku places I ate at. This is the most disappointing place I've been to! The food is good but the service is seriously not! My first experience was okay. I'm guessing because it was slow. My second experience made me not wanna come back here. More than half of the reviews about this place is legit! Rating is a 2-3stars! CONS: - It's not a buffet, your limited to order if you go beyond their expectations. - They do turn off the stove without telling you. When you order to much. (We were willing to pay the fee. But we finished it all) - Asked MORE than 3x for refills. On water, meat & vegetables. Even when business was getting slow. - They get hesitant to serve more meat. I swear this is a "buffet" yakiniku. - Their more attentive to their "own kind" when serving - 15% gratuity automatically included (Which they don't even meet!) PROS: - Their soju is good - Most meats to choose from - They have their days when serving. But costumer service should be highly worked on. - They all to BYOB no corkage fee.

First time here and I love it. The price is reasonable, the meat is great, the side dishes are not as many as I expected but still great. The owner is pretty nice when we got there too. I would definitely bring my family and friends back here.

My new favorite yaniniku place! $22.99 per person if you decide to eat on the buffet side. If not they have entrees that they serve on the other side. My boyfriend and I ate on the buffet side last night and were the only table inside. There were 2 servers and let me say... the service was AWEFUL. They didn't want to help us at all. They only came by once and that was to take our meat order. We ate with empty water glasses the whole night and our grill was black and burnt to a crisp. BUT... the food and sauce was so good that we didn't even care about the bad service. We will continue to go here if the food continues to taste amazing. Just gotta bring our own water bottles LOL

First off, if you're going to charge a mandatory 15% tip then good customer service should be mandatory too! The waitress' attitude made my experience here horrible. There was another lady who helped us also and if it wasn't for her kind attitude I would've walked the eff out. Food is ok. Bbq chicken was salty, but the kobe beef was good. The sides was ehh. It said unlimited sides but they never refilled it. Only thing they kept refilling was the rice, which was fine with me because my kids can eat alot of rice. My son said sikdorak (I think that's how you spell it) is better and cheaper. Think I'll try there next time.

This was actually my family's go to spot for Korean food when I was growing up. It's actually been close to 20 years since I I've been here. So anyway my friends and I were looking for another all-you-can-eat yakiniku place and my friend's mom suggested Han Yang. It's $19.99 for a choice of any of 15 types of meat, Rice and soup are also included. The quality of food was as I would expect for this type of meal, the salted and garlic meat options were tasty as well. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and we really got our fill. Service was actually surprisingly attentive. I will most likely be back.

This restaurant is terrible. Dining here for the all you can eat was a horrible experience. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry! For our first round, we ordered five different meats including tongue, kalbi, pork belly, and brisket. A plate came covered with four of the meats, beef on top. While cooking, we found that the layer of beef on top, was just a thin, single layer of beef. The bottom was full of pork belly. We probably got a half order of each beef and about 3 orders of pork belly. For our second round, we were getting full (of pork belly) so we ordered a small order of tripe and intestine just so we had enough for each of us to try some. We received what looked like full orders of both. We were cooking these items but for some reason, the server came and turned off the stove so we couldn't thoroughly cook these items that obviously have to be cooked thoroughly. There are so many good Korean restaurants in Honolulu. This is not one of them.

This restaurant serves Korean food with a local flair. Having eaten at almost every k-restaurant on the island I am no novice when it comes to Korean food. I come here for lunch mostly. Portions are good and prices are low. Food is decent. They do offer an all you can eat yakiniku for dinner at $22.99.

I've been here only once, but after having opted for their all you can eat Korean yakiniku option for $19.99 (they have a separate section where you can order entrees), I'll definitely be back! They have a great selection of meats you can order, many of which are tender (my favorites were the brisket and beef tongue). Other meats not on the buffet option, including ribeye, are also available. They provide a wide variety of small platters of vegetables. The sauce provided to dip the meats in is very tasty and sweet. The servers came to switch out the grill very often. And they also serve hite beer and soju. Everything is pretty clean, and the place can get packed (I went on a Friday night), so I recommend reservations during this time. I only wish they'd refill the water more often without me having to call attention to it. Other than that, no major complaints so far. If you're in the Kalihi area and looking for all you can eat Korean yakiniku, this place comes recommended from me.

Ok, the food is actually not bad. Their attitude is bad and I'm tired of dealing with businesses that are sketchy. Their all you can eat is actually good, but they give you bad service on purpose so that you won't order much. You try to get their attention and they ignore you. I wish they can find a business model that they can be profitable and courteous at the same time. If your ok with bad service try the ayce for the tongue.

Came here with some close friends last month. Super casual place - more for you and a group of your t-shirt wearing friends, not necessarily for you on your first hot date. Located in Kalihi near Farrington High: Yakiniku buffet - $19.99 per person. Restaurant was not very busy, but the parking in this little shopping area can be. Must-haves: beef tongue, garlic kobe meat, and beef brisket (at least that's what my friends usually get, and they definitely got those right!). Beef brisket plate has a lot on it! But it doesn't really matter that the other meat plates don't have as much, since it's buffet and you can always order more. They freshly slice the meat up front by the cashier. Good old Korean restaurant vegetables served in the little bowls, and to be super stereotypical - with the good old Korean restaurant service. If you're looking for the service to fake-smile at you when they're busy and irritated with you, don't expect it here. Do not come, and for that, miss out on deliciousness. Also note - I'm generally not a fan of yakiniku, but this place was worth it. Recommend if you're not too cool to hang out in Kalihi.

Yakiniku - grill your own. They get mad if you waste so make sure that you tell them how much meat you want each time. They will charge you extra if there is leftover. Food is so good but the service is probably the worst that I have ever had! Brisket is the best. They were eating dinner as we were eating dinner and we asked for more meat and they said that we needed to wait till they were done eating dinner. We came in at 9pm and around 10 they told us that they were closing so pretty much telling us to get the f*** out of there. The wife of the owner is probably the worst one of them all and the fat one with a lot of makeup is probably the second. The nicest one is the thin one with glasses. She is the best. After dinner we spoke to the owner and he said that if we tip more that we will get better service. Isn't that the contrary to how tipping is earned?! Normally you get tip by giving good service. Plus the tip is already included! We come here often and we always bring new people so we give them business. They should be nicer to us. We are regulars!

I've eaten here when I was a kid with my mom and her friends and it was a nice place to come to and eat good korean food. Now after 20+ years they turned half the restaurant into all you can eat yakiniku. The meat is pretty good for the price ($19.99 per person) and for 3 people we were able to eat kalbi, brisket meat, pork belly and garlic kalbi. You can have all u can eat rice, side vegetables and they give you seaweed soup or korean miso soup (dwenjang chigae). The last time I came with korean friends and we got pretty good service after she found out we were korean. This time I didn't speak korean and came with my friends for her bday dinner, the lady didn't give us good service like the last time. Even then, you NEED to call the lady over to get service. If she doesn't come back with what you asked, ask her again. We thought she didn't hear us but I think she forgot. After I paid, the lady was speaking in korean which I understood and if you work at a restaurant, understand what your job role is and complaining about customers won't make your job easier or better. Trying to get orders right and paying more attention is what she should be doing. They add 15% gradituity to your bill -- that lady or the restaurant doesn't deserve my 15%. I rated it a 3 star bc of parking, it's not busy and the meat is good. Everything else was poor.

Been to a few Yakiniku style restaurants before and his place is great. All you can eat for $20. Some places charge that much for 1 choice of meat. Everything is AYCE at 4 items at a time. Too bad the Soju isn't all you can drink lol! Place is divided into 2 sections. One for regular ordering and the other for Yakiniku style cooking. Never tried the regular ordering style side of this joint, but the meats at the Yakiniku is great so it must be good! Spicy Pork is my favorite here and the Kalbi. I feel like the only downside to here is the lack of ventilation. You smell like Yakiniku when you're done. There was no vent about the grill so it kinda just goes all over the place. It's all right I guess if you plan on going straight home after eating. Small price to pay , but doesn't affect the great food you're getting.

Never again will we return to this restaurant. Food was edible but after this experience, not so sure anymore. As we concluded our dinner, that lady that always stays by the register walks by our table and says something to the man thats always there. Both looked towards our table. As our payment was ready to be picked up, lady comes by and tells us "YOU WASTE FOOD, NEXT TIME TELL MY WAITRESS YOU CANT FINISH IT" while looking at a SMALL bowl of cooked meat and maybe FOUR uncooked thinly sliced brisket. First of all, we had no control of the portions, it was given to us. If you make it an all you can eat, train your waitress her portions. Second, she wants us to tell her we cant finish it after the meat has been on our table? No answer was given when we asked her if she was going to put it back with the rest of the uncooked meat she'll serve her customers. Lastly, you should NEVER blame your customers because you'll never know where your business will be talked about.

Horrible service. They take half an hour to take your order for yakiniku, they don't refill your water cups, and they have the nerve to demanded more tip when I only tipped them 10% for poor service. That is so illegal on their part but I didn't want to deal with them any more. How dare they demand more tip for such shitty service.

I was a bit hesitant to try this place out but you don't know unless you try! I saw so many reviews of how crappy their experience was but I honestly had a great dining experience. Service was great! Food was excellent. Hopefully, my next visit will not disappoint me!

Went here last night with my buddy Dante. Service is like any Korean joint. You yell and ask for what you want. The meat is the best and the ban chan is standard though depending on if you're a regular or not depends on how much differing ban chan you get. The tables next to us had a few more different items (cucumber Kim chee, seasoned fish cake, etc) than we did but figured one group was Korean and the other seemed to go there a lot. David the owner is always a cool guy and the meat is always tasty just wish they'd hook up the ban chan.

Two stars because it was relatively clean, but other than that, there's nothing worth going back to. The food was below average and definitely NOT all you can eat, and the service was atrocious. $26.44 ($22.99 plus mandatory 15% tip) per person was NOT worth it. The "all you can eat" is false advertisement, because you can only eat as much as they allowed you to eat. The meats are brought to you by the server, and it was one order per person in a portion controlled by the kitchen. When we ordered more meats, we only got half of what we asked for. I guess the kitchen decided we've had enough. Coincidently, that was also when the servers suddenly disappeared and we couldn't even get more tea. We never got all we could eat. The quality of the meat was average, and it was not fresh. They claim that they only use Angus beef, but they didn't say Angus beef from which week. The salted beef (without the camouflage of the Korean marinades) tasted week-old and stale, and it was tough. The Kobe beef did not look or tasted like Kobe beef. As for the all you can eat vegetables, it's a joke. We got 4 small dishes (no more than 2 oz each) of vegetables for the four of us (choy sum, kim chee, bean sprouts, and potatoes). Each time we wanted more we practically had to beg the "I hate my job" server for more. Nothing comes without begging. More tea, more rice, more veges. I have never had to work so hard for my food!! The service is what others have described - atrocious. The ladies hated their jobs, and we were just an inconvenience to them. We tried so hard to please the servers so we could get some sort of service, but "nice" did not work. Why should it, the 15% tip was automatically added to the bill, so they got the 15% tip whether we got service or not. If you have a craving for good Korean food, go someplace else, this place is not good. If you want all you can eat, go someplace else, this place is NOT all you can eat. If you want bad service, you got it, this is it.

Horrible with no ventilation! Yakuniku- grill your own food. -Very terrible service, below average atmosphere and parking is tight. +Sell Soju & beer. $5 Per person BYOB/corkage fee. -Although unlawful, they automatically add 15% gratuity to all bills! -Also they will not allow single persons to dine in. *2nd review after returning!!!! -food quality getting worse, they sneak poor quality or totally different meat on your plate masking it under the actual meat you order so that you "have to eat it" if not they will up charge you for "wasting food" I think this is awful because you didn't even order it in the first place! .. If you ask how do I that they put a different meat? Answer: even if we are not Korean we know that Kalbi/short rib comes on a slab with bone the meat hiding under the top 4 piece layer of Kalbi is fatty, not attached to bone and has the consistency of stew meat.. And the brisket instead of your first order of thin meat goodness now has a thick fatty cut ...Ewe. Also the entire staff will stop servicing customer and completely stop working to eat dinner and if you interrupt them they are upset and the female cashier (seemed to be owner) will scold you and tell you to wait till they are done eating! I have never ever had service like this before! I usually go with the flow, but this is seriously ridiculous! They wonder why they are so slow! Next time I'll just go to Camellia! They have a better all-you-can-eat buffet!

I came here awhile ago, and I'm quite disappointed with this place. The first time I came here, I absolutely loved it! Decent service, delicious food, cheap prices -- two thumbs up! However, this experience totally changed my opinion of this place. First of all, we had a party of five people. Even though we reserved beforehand, they couldn't seat us on the same table! I guess their tables only accommodated four people, but they could have at least warned us before confirming our reservation? Secondly, the waitress did not oil, or rub fat/lard/whatever it is on our pot plate. All of our meats were stuck to the pan and created a heavy smoke that filled our area. The waitress didn't seem to notice, and instead changed our hot plate a few times. Thirdly, oh my god, the intestines was probably the worst thing I have ever tasted. Okay, I know what intestines (chitterlings) are!! Nevertheless, I was doing some research and diseases can spread if chitterlings are not properly cleaned or undercooked. Resources also say that intestines should be turned inside out and cleaned, and any fecal matter should be removed. Let's just say that my intestines had a lot of "stuffing" in it. Luckily, I didn't have food poisoning, but I would never try that again. I would probably come back when it's empty. The place was pretty crowded, so I think the waitress (who seemed to be the only one working) was stressed out from serving multiple tables at one time. They definitely need to have more servers because not oiling the hotplate, not filling up our water promptly, and having us wait over 15 minutes for our next plate of meat created a very unpleasant experience.

We came here late at night on a Monday...hungry. My friends order the all you can eat Yakiniku ($25 per person), while me and my other friend order a plate instead. I ordered the somen and mandoo ($8). It was pretty good. Decent portion. I love eating noodle and soup with chili sauce. Tastes way better. My friend order a stone pot, pretty big..looks good. My other friends who order the Yakiniku got a lot to eat. I tried one piece of their beef, it wasn't bad. They marinated the beef pretty well. It also included side dishes of vegetables: kimchee, broccoli, bean sprouts, and such. I think it's a family business owned. It's a medium size place but kind of old, so the place seems worn down. The service was alright. They seem to be eating their late dinner when we were there. So they were walking back and forth eating and serving us.

my experience is almost identical to some of the reviews. The lady(I guess she is the boss) came to us and she talked to us in Korean, which i dont understand at all. From her facial appearance i am pretty sure she was upset about something. And five mins later she came by to our table and turn off the grill without even asking us. Me and my friend can't figure out what we did wrong. We did not order more meat after that. In all, she has an attitude. It is an an awful experience!

Pros: Pretty good meat for 19.99 eat all you can, unlim rice and sides, lots of parking, lots of space so probably no waiting. Cons: Not very good service, slightly small grill I came here the other night with some friends, and was warned ahead by one of them that it has terrible service so don't expect much. Honestly, it wasn't THAT bad as they said; ive had much worse at some other Korean eateries. We were one of the few customers there but whenever we needed something, we'd just raise our hand and they would bring us whatever we needed. (and thats pretty good considering how one of the top five restaurants -- as rated by yelp -- had waiters that ignored us often and even rushed us out of the store) Of course, the most important part was whether the food was good. Although some meats didn't taste that good (such as the kalbi), other meats (such as the beef tongue and pork belly) were quite tasty. Usually at Yakiniku places I only use the salt and oil sauce for my meats, but this place has their own special sauce which I actually liked. As others commented, you will have to pay extra if you leave any extra meat, so if you want another plate but can't eat a lot, just let them know that you want a small plate. As a waiter, I understand that tip pretty much is our rent, tuition, etc. and as long as we didn't get terrible service (which we didn't), I believe 15% is a perfectly fine amount to tack on (at least it saves me the time and trouble of calculating). Overall, if you're looking for decent eat all you can yakiniku for about $25 a head without heading into town, I'd say this is a pretty good choice. With this many pros, i'd give the place 4 stars. Would come again another time. Edit: I forgot to mention, their grill is sort of small so it's hard to seat a party of more than 4 and cook food fast enough to satisfy everyone. I went with a party of 5 but we just turned up the fire to cook the food faster.

I've been here several times, each time going to the all you can eat side and receiving terrible service. I hoped it was just a bad day each time, but since it happened each time, I know it's just how they are. Food wise, they have the usual meats with usual seasoning. Nothing special, still tastes good though. However, they don't even give you any vegetables to cook at all! One thing I love, is beef tongue. I LOVE IT. However, whenever I go there, they're very greedy with it. The staff always tell me when I order it, "We're on short supply, so we're giving very small amounts". Oh hell no, I'm not paying for the all-you-can-eat just to be limited on what I can eat. Staff does not smile much, they look tired. My water NEVER gets refilled. I know they see it, because I purposely put the empty water glasses at the edge of the table. They also NEVER replace the cooking surface thing. It gets completely coated and becomes difficult to cook. I am no longer going here. Only reason I go here is because it's near my house. However, I'd rather go somewhere else like Sikdorak where they have AMAZING service, and they don't limit any certain meat.

After reading all the reviews, I can now see why 15% gratuity is already included. Haha. The Atmosphere Its a little hole in the wall, so it's not extravagant looking. There's signs posted everywhere on the wall. Some have items you can order, and some warn of you extra charges if you BYOB. Or if you don't eat all your food....Kinda got me LESS excited about eating. But I was hungry so I had that, "Fuh dat shi" (think swear words) mentality. The Food Went to this place today with my boyfriend. $19.99 per person and all you can eat meat with unlimited rice/sides. At first we ordered just two plates of meat: Garlic Kobe Beef and Pork Belly. It was so good! Especially in that garlic sauce that they give! After that we were still hungry..more like I was still hungry..so we got another order of Kobe beef and an order of brisket too. No complaint in the food department. :) The Service I guess the lady that everyone complains about has toned down a bit, or maybe I was just lucky. I think its true that after the 4th plate they stop coming around. I wanted to ask her for more rice, but as soon as I was about to open my mouth to ask, she runs away. I never got that rice :(....When she finally came back I had already finished the meat and didn't need the rice anymore. I did order the Strawberry Soju Smoothie. It wasn't really a smoothie. It was really just liquid with small random chunks of ice in it. It was still tasty, but definitely not a smoothie. I gave it 4 stars just because the meat was so good and the sauce that they give was just cherreh!

PROS: -All you can eat- Lots of food, good and various meats, -waitress warmed up towards the end and responded playfully by giving us a short teppanyaki show (She was hilarious, tossed the tongs up in the air, and teased her coworker lady), and -spacious inside the restaurant and on the table for the many plates we had. CONS: -Food was limited to 3 meats at a time and instead of getting the chance to try different meats they slammed a lot of the three meats and we're later told that we needed to empty the trays of meat before they served more or others. (You don't get the chance to even try half of the meats) -service appeared rushed to get us out and they needed to be "informed" when the ban chans ran out or we were missing items that weren't served to our table, and -parking was a bit challenging as it was shared with a lot of other nearby shops/bars

WORST service ever. Me and my friends arrived here around 7pm, it was moderately busy. Because it was busy, we were put on a table with a portable gas stove. I understand this. Afterwards me and my friends ordered the all-you-can eat BBQ. It took them over 20 minutes for us to be asked what our order was. Then when they finally came to take there order they constantly forgot one or two items each time we ordered. We realized that they were doing this ON PURPOSE. After about our third round they told us we cannot order anymore for an ALL you can eat BBQ. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever had. And just to be fair, they did have decent food. But the service was just terrible. 1 star!!!

Gf: "What's for dinner? I'm starving! I'm so hungry I can eat a cow!!!" Gf's daughter: "I give up!! I don't want to be on this diet anymore. I love food!! What's for dinner? I'm so hungry I can eat a cow!!!" Me: "OK! They got "All You Can Eat" cow at Han Yang!! Hop in the car and let's go." At Han Yang. I look at the menu ..... Me: "Check this out! They got $19.99 "All You Can Eat"...and $25.95 "All You Can Eat". Wait a minute!!! What is difference between the $19.99 All You Can Eat and the $25.95 All You Can Eat?" Gf's daughter browses the menu. Gf's daughter: "The $19.99 AYCE has 15 items and the $25.95 AYCE has 16 items." I compare the two menus posted on the wall. yelp.com/biz_photos/han-… Me: "The two menus look the same to me. What is the 16th item?" The owner David Cho stops by. "Nice to see you all again. We changed the price of our All You Can Eat in December. It is now $19.99. We are very busy." Me: "Cool! We are so hungry we can eat three cows!!!" David Cho starts shaking!! Gf's daughter: "The $19.99 AYCE and the $25.95 AYCE seem to have the same items. $19.99 AYCE $25.95 AYCE Korean Kalbi .................. Korean Kalbi Garlic Short Ribs............ Next unsolved mystery please." yelp.com/biz_photos/han-… We always enjoy the AYCE at David Cho's HanYang. At $19.99 it is five dollars and ninety six cents per person more enjoyable than the last time we were here. P.S. The $19.99 AYCE is for both lunch and dinner. P.P.S. Here is a very Useful tip. If you find yourself deciding between the $19.99 AYCE dinner and the $25.95 AYCE dinner. I recommend going with the $19.99 AYCE....DUH!!!

We had the all you can eat buffet for $26. They had a lot of selection of meats you could choose from including some "kobe" beef. It really wasn't Kobe but it was tender. I would say that this place was average compared to rest of the all you can eat Korean places. Taste was okay but nothing spectacular. Service was a little slow but they have a lot of space and didnt have to wait for a table. I think it is a better value if you were to order their ala carte dishes. My mom ordered the stone pot bi bim bap which was good and only $10. But I would pass on the all you can eat if I went back.

I've eaten here many times over the years and the food is still good. I gave it 5 stars because of the value compared to the quality of food. The Korean restaurants in town might be better, but they're also more costly. My son and girlfriend who are both picky eaters love this place and so that's why we keep coming back.

I was pleasantly pleased. The food was good- the meats and seasonings seemed to be good quality and taste. The portions were huge!! We started with the garlic Kobe, Korean kalbi, pork belly and beef tongue. The Kobe is something we both thought wasn't amazing but the other choices were great! Loved the tongue the best. We followed it up with a request for brisket and BBQ chicken and weren't disappointed. The brisket melted in my mouth. The banchan was 4 kinds, all were good quality. We asked for a refill on 3/4 and they came out with 4- one was different than the first round. Served with lettuce and rice. The soup that was supposed to come with the meal never came out but we were full anyway. Service was decent. We had to flag down the servers and ask for things a few times but hey, it's a Korean restaurant- a culture that's not notably customer oriented. Nevertheless, it was a good meal for the price and we were there for about 2 hours, never felt rushed to leave. We did the BYOB thing and got beers from the store on the corner. We were there from ~4:30-7pm on a Saturday. We went again for dinner but did not opt for AYCE. We ordered the combo special and a spicy pork and meat jun. Portions were good- I had leftovers, but hubby finished his.

Han Yang is a great alternative to Sikdorak. They have a $19.99 all you can eat Yakiniku with 15 types of meats to choose from. My friends and I managed to taste 7 of the 15. Of those 7, my favorites had to be the beef tongue, bbq pork and brisket. This restaurant is located in Kalihi next to the post office near Farrington HS. There are a lot of parking stalls available. We came in at 6:15pm and found parking within seconds of coming into the lot. Of course, they do share parking with other restaurants and bars in that area. You'd expect a small space prior to coming in but it's semi decent. It's obviously more spacious than Sikdorak. And it's very sanitary. It doesn't really smell like smoke, but then again, there were only two tables cooking when we came in. I was also surprised that I didn't smell that bad after I ate and the smoke kept going towards my bf and I. Service was surprisingly good considering previous experiences I've received from other Korean restaurants. Our server actually smiled and only gave us a huff once. This is all due to our grill always burning. She changed it 5 times. Apparently, cooking a few meats at a time made the grill burn faster. lol. Well at least she told us straight up. Other workers also came to check on our waters and would walk around occasionally to see if anything was needed. As for the meats, they were pretty good. As mentioned, I really loved the beef tongue, bbq pork and brisket. I can't wait to try the others that we haven't yet tasted. From my observations though, portion size depends on the meat they give and probably by the number of people eating in the group. There were four of us. They gave a lot for the bbq pork whereas another meat, like the tongue, wasn't that much. BE WARNED THOUGH: YOU CAN ONLY GET THREE MEATS AT A TIME. So you need to finish one plate of meat before they let you pick another one. As for the sides, they give the typical stuff like cucumber kim chee, regular kimchee, potato, salad and bean sprouts. Nothing special. I'm not sure if they change it up because this was my first visit. Would I return? Definitely.

A co-worker suggested this place to me, however, after reading mixed reviews I was a little hesitant. The place is sorta a large hole-in-the-wall kind of place. The food and sides were very good. With the exception of the seasone fishcake which was really soft compared to what I expected, everything was excellent. The garlic short ribs to me was the best! Service was decent. They provided everything we asked for - relatively quickly too, but you have to ask. Most of the waitresses barely spoke English, and weren't quite the friendliest, however I attribute that to being the level of service at an authentic korean joint (not a buy me drinkee korean joint). We drank quite a few beers, and they seemed to get friendlier the more pay-type items we ordered. Meat dished started getting smaller and smaller the more we ordered, however that could be attributed toward the cuts of meat ordered. I would definitely go back. Thought the AYCE was only $19.99ea, the beers are what kicked the bill up. They say they charge $5/person if you bring your own beers. The other questionable thing is that they seem to force a 15% tip on the bill for themselves. Not sure if that is even legal considering we only had 3 people in our party. The larger woman ringing us out was saying I can put more tip if I wanted to, but if someone is forcing a 15% tip, I am uninclined to add more as service was just okay. I would go back.

Come here once in awhile with my authentic Korean friend,so according to him this is what KOREAN food tastes like (from the home land). Not like other Korean places,i.e pearls etc..don't get me wrong,I rather have those places for the volume of food and price,I'm not korean. But food is always good, service fast,I'm sure I'll be back.

We went there as a large group, service was OK until we started eating what the owner thought was more than our share. he came in and said he lose money tonight and next time he charge us double, then he stopped bringing us food. Food OK service sucks if you want to sell a buffet don't get mad if your customers are hungry!

Heaven and Hell is the best way to describe this little gem tucked away in the lower parts of Kalihi. The food is one of the best out there....But this little gem has a little secret. THEY SUCK WHEN IT COMES TO CUSTOMER SERVICE! They advertise their buffet as all you can eat. But they limit you in what you can get. Over the past year I've heard about their SHITTY service. But that didn't bother me since they was always nice to me and my friends. Then it happened! SMH! (Shaking My Head) In the middle of our service we ordered our 5th plate of lettuce. Our usual server takes our order and leaves. Then this GRUMPY OLD MAMA SAN delivers it to us and says "This is your last order of lettuce and gives us the stink eye and blurts out a loud TSK! We were in shock! Her rude behavior destroyed our appetite to eat. I was in awe and disappointed because I have been bringing my workout group of at least 5 or 10 people to this establishment for many months and have given them some good business and this is how we get treated? My friends and I paid our bill and walked out the place without giving them a tip. As we hang around our cars talking about the event the GRUMPY OLD MAMA SAN comes out and tells us we forgot to leave them a tip. I tell her how can we give you a tip when you give us bad service and TSK us? She gives me the stink eye and turns around and TSK me! I tell her, "See that's what I mean!" Since then I have never gone back to the place. The food is excellent but the service STINKS! Check it out yourself! Maybe the service has gotten better? But I doubt it since I hear more horror stories coming out of this place. Maybe one day I will tell you how they blocked the door on a little kid because they thought the father forgot to tip them!

Ok so my bf and I recently ate at this restaurant and their customer service was horrible from beginning to start! We had to constantly ask for refills on our water and to change out the grill. They have no manners! They automatically charged us 15% tip on our bill and I honestly didn't think they deserved a tip at all. Overall the food was ok, but we are never coming back!

HORRIBLE SERVICE. My bf and I went there last night and she got our orders all mixed up. On top of that the rude lady slammed our check on the table while we were still eating. We thought it was on accident but two minutes later she came back to our table and told us we had to pay now. RUDE!!! The food was also pretty bad. The meats were dry and there was no flavor. I will most likely never come back to this place.

In the mean mean streets of kalihi, you'll find this hidden gem (don't look literally for a gem) in the back of many many different eaters in the area. on King st. next to the post office, you find Diners and located behind to the left you'll find this meat eaters delight! You know how the night starts, it was a cold, dark night in the winter time....craving for some meat... and Han Yang has just that. The place doesn't look like a five star place, but don't let the looks deceive you. We decided to go out on a limb here and try this place out & let me tell you, im glad i did. They offer a huge variety of choices, about 14/15 different types. Anything from Flap meat, flap meat with garlic, Kobe angus steak, brisket, BEEF TONGUE, pork belly, you name it, they probably have it. What makes this place different then any other was they cut the meat FRESH, nothing frozen, okay maybe the tongue was, but everything else pretty fresh. I like that it's A not sitting out for hours, & B it's not frozen rock hard solid when it comes out. Everything comes with sides of course, kimchee, bean sprouts, ohh & i highly recommend the shoyu potato. Also salad & you have a choice of miso korean soup or seaweed soup. & the best part about this place?? it's only 19.99 right now...that right, act now and you'll get everything for the low, low price of just one payment of 19.99! haha but seriously, finding this place was worth the eat!

You will get a sob story of the lady working hard although half of the time, the restaurant is empty. That will lead to getting hassled for a tip. I got chased out to the parking lot and lady did not leave the vehicle until she had at least $5. There needs to be a balance between product and service. Worst service ever.

Consistently good and a great deal. Where else are you going to get all you can eat for $20. Food is good. Service is a little slow but they are quick once you get their attention. Most times you have to flag down a waitress to get a refill or place another order. Highly recommended

We always saw this place, but never checked it out. We walked in and the quickly sat us. They brought our rice, sides, and water then asked us what we would like to order. We informed the person service us that it was our first time so feel free to recommend. She told us that she will bring 4 meats. She brought the meat over, started to heat our girl and put the meat on. They gave us just enough meat for the entire meal. Although the environment is old and as we finished our meal the flies started to appear, overall we thought it was good for $19.99 per person.

Han Yan advertises a great deal with the $19.99 all you can eat Yakiniku including rice, soup, and vegetables. The customer service really sucked!! My party and I needed to ask for everything. The place is run by a couple the wife is the waitress and the husband the bouncer. He watches and controls everything kinda like the yakiniku notzy. I rubbed the yakiniku pan with fat from the meat as everything we cooked on it stuck to the pan. The husband then says to me not like that, we going give you another pan. We waited 1/2 an hour no change in pan. If you like to watched and controllec on how you cook yakiniku be all means, this is the place you should come to.

This place is excellent. Don't be fettered by the other negative reviews because the food at this establishment if of great quality for a great price. We visited here after a friend suggested this place. We made reservations but when we arrived, we recognized that the place was fairly empty. A Korean lady told us what we wanted to order. Note that if you opt for the buffet, they limit you to four items each time you order. Nonetheless she provided sides, rice, and a salad. We didn't order the stew, but it is included. The meats were of good quality. The brisket, beef tounge, and pork belly stood out. My only complaint would be that throughout the entire dinner our grill sheet was not changed once. Also this restaurants does not have a fancy ventilation system like 678 or sorabol has. Also it gets pretty hot. But for the price it was fine. After dining here all I can say is that sorabol sucks balls. I love this place just make sure to wear stinky clothes or something old so you don't get dettered about the smell. 5 stars.

There's a good Korean restaurant in this part of town? Wait...what? Say that again? Yes, in this super sketch area, there's a damn good Korean restaurant. You wouldn't know about Han Yang, unless you've heard about it and deliberately made the trip to visit. And honestly, some of you may be thrown off by the area it's in, or just the outdoor decor of the restaurant. Don't judge a book by its cover though, because inside it lays good food with nice ladies serving you! I bet most people come here for the all you can eat yakiniku option, judging by the fact most of the previous reviews mention this, and that pretty much every table around me was doing so as well. Perhaps, it's the fact that the price for this all you can eat is only 19.95 a person, which includes 15 choices of meat, as well as your typical Korean side dishes, rice, and soup. I have yet to try this option. I have to admit the thought of getting it was pretty enticing, but all you can eat yakiniku for lunch seemed like a no-no. Instead, my dad and I decided to share the Han Yang Special plate, and the vegetable soft tofu soup. The Han Yang Special comes with BBQ chicken, kalbi, mandoo, meat jun, mahi mahi and a side of rice and soup. For only $14 you get a variety of everything! Pretty much all other plates are $10 and that's really reasonably priced cause I guarantee you'll be full from that! Plus they're delicious, so you can't go wrong with a cheap and delicious meal. Of course the next time I come here, I'll be as hungry as a starving mainly-carnivorous hippo, just so I can really enjoy the all you can eat option. Plus, the price has dropped from 25.95 to 19.95, so it's all the more reason to come and enjoy!

Even though the price its cheap, but its not worth it. I went to the restaurant today with my dad. The service was ok but yakiniku sucked. I felt like the food was not clean and it didnt taste good. As I got home, I ended up vomiting and not feeling well.

Okay experience. Food was good but customer service was not so good. The waitress we had, a chubby Korean lady, served my best friend and I. She was not friendly, or helpful. She served the correct food we ordered but she did pay attention to us when we needed something, such as water refill and changing our cooking thingy. I had to raise my hand and literally stare her down until she noticed we needed something. Then, after we finished, we paid and was off to go, UNTIL the owner (this Korean old skinny lady) CHASED US to my car claiming we did not give them tip. First of all, they don't even deserve tip because of the bad waitress that served us and for chasing us to my car, was even more unnecessary to even tip them. So my best friend and I told the lady, we don't have change for tip. Then the lady kept begging us for tip and kept forcing us to pay. So, I HAD to give them tip. I asked the lady for change to break my $20 and I gave her $3, then she said, "Oh, but your waitress served you guys and gave you guys your food right, she worked hard." Then I put $4, and then she nagged me again, and said "Oh you own a BMW car, you can give more." Oh FUCK THAT. That just pissed me off, because first of all, I, myself, don't even work, and my parents bought me my BMW. So I HAD to give her $5. Like WTF this dumb bitch... NEVER GOING THERE EVER AGAIN.

Wow this place is still around?! I remember my parents bringing me here when I was growing up and those massive silver eel like fish in the tank near the back that the previous owner kept. The boyfriend wanted to get out of the house after being cooped up for 2 days sick and Han Yang was his choice for dinner tonight. It still has the same sketchy parking lot with surrounding bars. Its amazing of how the area hasn't changed at all. I think its actually gotten sketchier. You wouldn't think a delicious Korean BBQ restaurant is tucked away at the back there. If you are willing and brave enough to venture into this area of Kalihi be prepared to know of what you want to order as soon as you sit down or get attitude from the waitress. Literally as soon as my butt hit the booth seat, a waitress came over, pad and pen in hand wanting to know of what we wanted to order. We asked her to come back. Then 30 seconds later she asked again? There are other patrons in the restaurant, why don't you go ask them of how they are all doing? So we ask her to give us more time. She comes back a 3rd time after 1 minute and we are still deciding and she grumbles and sends a different waitress over to us that is equally unfriendly to serve us for the rest of the night. Wow, we're sorry to be such an inconvenience to you! All we want to do is give you business and our money! Perhaps the concept of TIP is not on your radar?! Minus two stars for customer service. The food here is very good, I honesty haven't been here in a few years but I always tended to gravitate towards, the BBQ Chicken and Kalbi. The Yakiniku all you can eat for $19.99 per person looked delicious but that would mean that I would have to spend copious amounts of time being served by cold, unfriendly ppl. Almost makes it worth it to go somewhere else. I'm sad to see that customer service is no longer a part of this restaurant, I remembered that my parents used to like to eat here back in the day because of it.

Juliana: So you left no tip because your service wasn't that good? Most (normal people) leave less tip if they receive poor service, not no tip at all. The experience would have to be an total disaster (for most normal people) to leave no tip. It's obvious that you're not like most normal people. May i suggest that until you learn how to tip ... just stay home! So i've eaten here a few times. You don't have to be a genius to figure out that you don't come here for fine dining. You come here for a all you can eat buffet of 15 meats, vegetables and rice for 20 bucks. Yes, the place is busy. The waitresses are busy. You may have to flag one down for what ever you want. When you do, they'll gladly bring it to you. My most recent visit my waitress forget to get me the extra chopsticks i asked for. did i leave without leaving a tip? No. I have class. Overall it's a great place to eat especially if you're a carnivore and you want to pig out. My favorites are the spicy pork and the kal bi.

I'm writing this review for my mother. My mom had ordered the Kalbi tang which its suppose to have kalbi in the soup. When my moms food came out she noticed the meat in the soup was NOT kalbi but more like stew meat. She told the waitress hey your menu said kalbi tang but no kalbi? and they re charging around $14.99 i believe? Anyways the waitress told my mom " do you know how expensive kalbi is?" Like really? if you have on the menu Kalbi Tang and charging that much for it and instead put stew meat?..isnt that fraud or something?? Luckily my mom didn't pay for that so called kalbi tang.

Located in Kalihi near the post office, Han Yang is a fairly spacious Korean restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner. There is also a room available in the back for private parties. The owners are very friendly and always welcome us whenever we eat here. Out of all places that I've tried kal-bi tang (kal-bi soup), I like the spicy kal-bi tang at Han Yang the best. I like their spicy kal-bi tang because they aren't skimpy on the meat, and the broth doesn't just look spicy but is also tasty. I've been a fan of their all you can eat yakiniku for years now. They offer all you can eat yakiniku for both lunch and dinner. For all you cow tongue lovers, this is the best place to get your cow tongue crave at!! You will definitely get your money's worth for the quality of the meat served here. :3

Rule #1. Make sure it is locked otherwise the next patron will be surprised. Bathroom lock is tricky. You have to turn the lock until you hear a click. Rule #2. Make sure you leave a tip, otherwise, you will be followed out into the parking lot and get yelled at for not leaving a tip. Ordered the house special, which was good. Paid the bill by credit card and left. Yes, a 20% tip was included on the receipt. Maybe look at the charge slip before yelling at me across the parking lot?

My mother had taken me to Han Yang as a child for lunch and dinner when we had extra money to spend. During the early 80's, it was one of the few real Korean restaurants around Hawaii - let alone Kalihi. This was before Yummy's, Tasty's and all those Korean fast food joints came along. I always remembered that I loved their chi gaes and they used to serve this turnip soup that I loved as a child. Fast forward to now...As an adult I came back here to try the food again. The place looks the same and so do the booths. That doesn't bother me. It has an old school familiar feel to it and it's comforting. The only difference is that they expanded and took over the business to the right of it, so it looks bigger than it did before. There is the regular menu that they always had, and now they have all you can eat yakiniku, which is pretty yummy and reasonably priced. There is kali-bi, boneless kali-bi, chicken, and even beef tongue and tripe for the adventurous. The ban chan was generous and tasty and the meats were tasty and seasoned well. They also give you the usual raw garlic to grill with your meats and a bowl of rice. Service was ok, but the lady wasn't that smiley. I figure it's a Korean restaurant and they are all angry so I won't dock stars for that.

After reading the reviews on this place, I just had to come to see this place for myself. Yes, it is in a decrepid place in Kalihi and the prices here do seem quite high, but I can assure you that it's not that all bad. You just need to develop some thick skin when you wander around the area. I came here for a casual lunch with my co-workers, who wanted to go to somewhere different that the same old places. After deciding on coming here for a change of pace, I didn't like the place to be old and dingy when we walked it. Almost like an aging Chinese restaurant that needed to be majorly improved or something like that. This place was big, but not too big. Not too much people eating here, and I suspect why. This place gave me the creeeps, but I shouldn't really care though, at least I was with friends here. The prices seemed a bit steep for the amount of food we ordered, but whatever. Turns out that I wasn't picking up the tab anyways, so that was awesome. For myself, I ordered the spicy pork and meat jun combo. The meat jun could have been better cooked, but it was good all the same. I asked for white rice too, so that I could have some carbs with my rice. The service was pretty good, although it can be better. Even the decor and ambiance should get a major face lift, but it was enjoyable, although kinda weird. Probably won't come back, due to the weirdness. But the food was decent. Parking wise, there aren't that much choices, but street parking normally works best. Best wishes on this place!

I love Korean food!! Well I am 1/2 korean so I can't help eating it :) I wanted to try something new in town so me and my boss came here for lunch!! There is a all you can eat buffet for about $24 for lunch and $26 for dinner, but we just grab a plate special. Staff is very friendly and the food is even better!! I would recommend it to a friend!!

Great spicy chicken, delicious soup broth but overloaded with Tofu, choi sum was dry, tasty potato side, and fantastic service. Will be back. Other customers friendly - good vibe, nice people.

First of all, it was HOT. I don't know if their air-conditioning was broken, or they don't like to spend money on A/C, but that alone made me want to leave. The service is terrible. They don't understand the concept of hospitality and service. None of the staff knows how to smile. I ordered Kalbi and Chicken combo. The portion was good- 2 chicken thighs and 1 strip of kalbi. It came on a sizzling plate, and was accompanied by seaweed soup, and 5 side dishes, along with rice. The entree was good, the kim chee and cucumber kim chee were bland. The water was slow to be refilled, and I was thirsty because it was soooo HOT in there. As I ate, I had to shoo the flies away from my food. I went up to pay, the lady at the register slams the charge slip and pen down in front of me. I sign my copy and she hands me my receipt. No smile. No "Thank you." I have worked in restaurants and retail all my life, and I expect a minimum level of service. No matter if the food was pretty good and the price was fair, the lack of customer service will keep me from coming back. I can spend my money anywhere, so as long as this hole in the wall has been in business, they will keep losing ground unless they improve their service. If I had read the reviews, I never would have gone. Now that I have experienced the poor service, I won't go back. Don't patronize establishments that give lousy service. To do so makes them think it's acceptable, and it isn't.

*Local Kal-bi plate, Kal-bi & Spicy Pork combo = $23* Dear Han Yang, I love that you are 5 minutes from my house. I love that you rarely ask me for my name or telephone number when I call in my order. Trust is the foundation of a relationship. I love that you laugh at my Haole husband when he comes walking through your door. Perhaps not only because of his white-ness, which glows brighter in Kalihi, but also because you think I am a domineering wife that makes her poor husband fetch her kalbi twice a week. This is untrue. I am mellow and loving and docile and he BEGS me to let him buy me Han Yang twice, sometimes thrice a week because it makes him so happy. FYI. I love your lotus though we've only met twice. If I ask you specifically for lotus will you put in in my panchan? I would like that. We will someday eat in your restaurant. Your new ramen specials look enticing, especially since I've never had "kyoza". My husband will see you soon. Of his own accord. Love, Angela

Got here around 11:45 for lunch for three. We were seated immediately upon greeting. We were serviced very quickly and ordered meat jun, seafood pancake, fried mandoo, and chop chae. Nothing was overly salty and everything was piping hot! The chop chae had the right amount of sweetness added and not drowning in "gravy sauce." The mandoo was delicious - next time I'll try the steamed mandoo. Seafood pancake was my favorite!!!! Parking here is tight and sparse and restaurant is in a partial industrial area but right across Kikuya Japanese restaurant. Our meal only came out to $43. Not bad.

My girlfriend introduced me to beef tongue and it was all thanks to Han Yang. I grew up eating Camellia Buffet so I thought that place was the greatest place for yakiniku. She introduced me to this place and I thought to myself "There's no line, must not be so good." I must've been so narrow-minded growing up because I find myself not missing the crowds. I'm glad it's never busy when we go and it's always a destination when I fly back home for my vacation. They serve alcohol too, which always makes these meals more enjoyable for me. If I still lived in Honolulu, I think I'd visit this place once a month. It pains me to have only one stomach because everything tastes so good. As I've fallen in love with beef tongue, our meals here consist of at least 50% beef tongue with maybe a few pieces of the other tasty selections.

Saying farewell to an outstanding intern is always hard to do...but when you must bid that intern farewell, you must do it with a team lunch! Han Yang was the suggestion made by one of my fellow foodie co-workers. I have never heard of the place before so why not? Located across the parking lot from Kikuya, we knew exactly where we were going. The food was decent by all means. Luchtime Yakiniku makes for a very sensory experience as the aroma will permeate your clothing even if you arent having any! The place needs better ventilation...better decor, and a few other things too. Service was a bit slow for our group. Took our 1 hr celebration and turned it into a 2 hr ordeal. I ordered the Han Yang Special since it offered everything. The flavors were not as good as some of the other places so I think that this place wont make it to my short list of good places to eat.

The chiges here are nasty! Spicy but no flavor. Tofu is like rubber. There's quantity to it alright but no quality! Yuck!!!

We stopped in at Han Yang because traffic going toward Aiea was ridiculous and it seemed like everywhere we wanted to eat were closed. It was a Monday night and on special was veggie soft tofu soup. Yay!! Huge bowl of soup with lots of flavor for $7.95 and the spice level was up there (probably the spiciest I've tried on the island. It looked like they put hawaiian chili's in it). And it was great that I had left overs to take home and reheat the next morning for breakfast. Also on special for Monday nights Kal bi $9.95; Pork/Meat Jun $7.95; Meat Jun/ Mandoo $7.95; Kal bi soup $7.95.

This restaurant is tucked away just off of King Street in a little complex of gritty bars. And when I say tucked away I mean it. You can't see it from the street. The food however is pretty good and the prices are decent. A rating of four or five would be fair however the Service is staggeringly deplorable. Daring to risk asking for more Banchan Will get you withering looks that make you feel guilty. And daring to ask for more meat, YOIKS. We've been there three times now. And in all fairness this negativity is confined to one waitress Who seems sullen and brooding all the time as if expecting her to smile would break her face and shatter her belief system. If not for this one particular grouch the restaurant is okay. I don't know why they don't wise up and dump the Old sourpuss. Would i go back? Maybe. And that is being as kind as I can be. PS: Korean food is my favorite but I would rather go across the parking lot to the Japanese restaurant Where the food is decent the prices are decent and the service is much much friendlier. Aloha spirit goes along way and Han yang just doesn't get it.

I used to think Han Yang was one of the better Korean restaurants: tasty food, good service, and clean. A bit pricey but still it was a good value. Now under new management Han Yang's food is still tasty, but service and cleanliness have really taken a "nose" dive. Allow me to explain... When we walked through Han Yang's doors their staff simply stared at us... we experienced a long, awkward silence that led us to ask, "Are you open?" Yes, yes, the lady behind the cash register shot back sit anywhere. We ordered their loco kalbi (3 thin pieces for $11.99) and kimchee pancake (generous plate for $11.99) which were both very good. Their kalbi was flavorful and tender and came out on a sizzling platter - nice touch. Han Yang's kimchee pancakes were also very good as it came crispy, hot, and delicious once you dipped it into the accompanying sauce - things were looking up! Unfortunately once our waitress dropped off our food she stopped coming, literally never again to visit our table for our entire meal. But kicker was the look on my wife's face as I was stuffing mine, she winced in disgusted as she stared over my shoulder, something clearly caught her eye. It was our waitress, she was picking her nose. I mean really picking her nose. It's amazing that the tip of her index finger did not poke out through the back of her head. We are talking some major league digging here. The thing was she continued to do so standing right in front of the cash register, in front of the owner, in front of God, and in front of everyone. I figure if she can so openly and casually dig away in front of her boss and all her customers without blinking an eye, I wonder what other kind of digging is going on "behind" in the kitchen. To be fair the food was good, but even a hole in the wall lover, three-second rule follower like me has his standards - needless to say I won't be back.

Been a customer of Han Yang for over 25 years. Don't get here very often as it is in Kalihi and we don't really plan to go to Kalihi for dinner bery often. But today, Kalihi was a good midpoint to meet for lunch and as it was another cold, wet day, I was craving soup again. I fell back to a favorite of mine, the crab stew. I get it medium spicy which is just about right for me. Spicy enought to give it a kick but not enought to have me coughing. With all the soft tofu stew I have been eating latey Ive been missing soups with more veggies in them. This crab soup had won bok, green onions, daikon, and some parsly which I removed. The broth was really flavorful. No hint of miso taste. I like miso soups but sometime I like my soups without it. This crab soup definetily was better without. When I was done there was nothing left of it. The banchan was good. Nothing too spectacular. Maybe cause it was lunch, not sure. There was bean sprouts, kim chee, shoyu/sugar potatos, mac salad, and their green veg(broccolli sprouts?). My wife had the vegetable soft tofu soup. She really liked it. It had vegetables in it too. Kind of reminds us of Bul Go Gi that was in Waipahu. Really miss that place. They had great kalbi too. I was surprised she opted for the vegtable soup and not the seafood. I don't know if the seafood one would have vegetables or not. She got hers medium spicy and is usually what she can handle but they used chili oil which put over the top for her. SHe just skimmed some of the oil off with a napkin and all was good. We also got a side order of the kalbi(korean style). The kalbi had a really good flavor. The meat was also cooked perfectly and when they bring it out on that sizzling platter it just makes your mouth water. We saved some so we could take some home for the boys but really wanted to pig olut and eat it all. While we were eating we saw that they also do all-you-can-eat Yakiniku for lunch and dinner. We may have to come back to sample that. And maybe also their stone pot Bi Bim Bap. Something to look forward to. Happy eats.

Went their for lunch yesterday and decided to attempt their $11.95 Hot Pot special. Comes with Soup, tossed salad, banchan, and a whole plate of beef and chicken to cook in the Hot Pot. Very similar to yakiniku but without the smoke. Still very tasty and plenty to eat for two grown men. Will try this again...

Updated: I have revisit Han Yang on several occasion. Every time, the server seems worse. The choices of meat are the same, but they allow to order only 2 items at a time. Bad customer service. Like many said 15% included is not really worth their service. Old review: HanYang has and always been on my short list for yakiniku. I love gyu-kaku too, but they can't beat the all you can eat. On top of everything, they recently reduced the price for this month from 25 to 19.99!!! Can't get any better than that. I have known and been there for almost a year now. thanks to my korean friend.

Some of you may be squeamish when you hear, "raw beef" what with mad cow and all that. But allay your fears and read em and weep for joy that Han Yang has this on the menu. And if you consume mass quantities of sashimi, squid, carpaccio, tartare, you'll not only love this dish but you will become a, "Yu-ke" regular. I am one now. I am imploring, begging all of you daring diners to try this dish. It is a party in your mouth and as I have said before, it's one of those dishes that makes my eyes roll back in my head. Dare to order it, please!!! Tongue love. The owner said that not many people eat raw beef so he didn't feature it on the menu, instead opting to place the raw seasoned beef atop a mound of veggies and rice in a stone pot to cook as the diner eats. Not for me. Once you taste it cold, you'll never look at your butcher the same way again. He did say that everyone who tried it becomes a loyal fan and orders it every time they come. I vote for that! It is not any more daring to eat this than it is to down mounds of poke or sashimi. Yu-ke is a hand sliced, premium quality, almost frozen, gently seasoned, 1/2 lb. of beef. It is not ground, no, it is hand minced. Tender, melt in your mouth cold, sweet beef, topped off with an egg yolk. No restaurant worth their reputation would ever serve this dish with inferior or old beef or egg. This dish is only a success if both items is impeccably fresh. You'd either be able to tell the difference when you taste it, or you'd be sick as a mommy for hours after. And it was deliciously fresh both times I ate it. I'm going back for more later this week, for sure. The meat is served in a little mound with sliced carrots, apples, and cucumbers surrounding the edge of the plate, meant to be eaten with the raw beef. I usually use their traditional and beautiful long handled metal spoon and use my silver chopsticks to push a mouthful of meat and condiments onto it and pop it into my anxious pie hole. The metal spoon keeps it especially cold and my silver chopsticks make me feel rich, mind you, it M-A-K-Es me feel rich, cuz I'm not. I do have a silver spoon too but it is hand hewn and too shallow to even scoop a decent mouthful of soup so I use the one the restaurant provides. I know the owner uses these metal spoons to save on the waste but I'm absolutely sure that if he converted from bamboo to stainless steel chopsticks that he would have a high level of theft to contend with. By the way, you can buy stainless chopsticks at Palama Supermarket, in their sundries section. In ancient Korea, the kings would use sterling silver because poisoned or tainted foods cause the chopsticks and spoons to turn black. Good reason then but for now, it just keeps my cold food, cold! Han Yang serves this dish with hot rice but I like to eat it along side naeng myun, a cold buckwheat noodle dish that is served so cold that ice is floating in the broth. Oh, and yes, the Yu-ke is so cold that it is frozen in the middle. Typically it defrosts as you work your way around the edge to the center. All the while that raw yolk that you pierced before indulging, clings tightly to icy meat and actually solidifies in places, making the yolk sort of granulated beads of yellow goodness. Now some restaurants add a spoon of pine nuts on the dish that adds a silkiness to the meat without being greasy or slimy. Han Yang does not but the seasoning is of the utmost quality that this dish doesn't miss it. And this dish doesn't miss. Finally, the cost of a little lump of this dish usually goes for 19.-20.00 in most restaurants, if they even have the dish. But here, it is a worthwhile 13.00. I am asking, no begging you to try it. But leave a little left for this old dog!

Han Yang is located in the depths of Kalihi's food centers, just a stone's throw from the post office, and flanked by too many Korean bars to count. We selected it based on a generally positive set of reviews on Yelp! and it turned out to be just what we expected: not bad, pretty good. The restaurant is big, old, a little dingy, and filled with thumping bass from the music at the Korean bar next door, bringing to mind images of grandpas and uncles drinking the night away with Korean aunties with loud voices and dresses that are too young. With that thought, we braved this restaurant with more seats than I can imagine being filled at any given time (it's a huge, 70+ seat restaurant). It's a little dirty, a little old, and a little dank, but the food was good enough for me to say I'll be back in the future. Prices are what you'd expect, ranging from about $7 to nearly $20. We had the deep-fried mandoo, kimchee chigae, and some other stuff. Notably, the kimchee chigae is super sour and super rich, and I was a fan of it. If you're in the Kalihi area and want to get some legit Korean food without accidentally wandering into a drinky bar, look for Han Yang - it's safe. I promise.

We've had 3 birthday parties at Han Yang in the past 3 months. Its become the defacto location for the gang to get together to celebrate. First, the price is right. The food is really good. They only dish we didn't like was the chicken. All the steak and pork meats were good. The wait staff is on it too. In a big group we're grilling a lot of meat and they're always around to change out grills and replace side dishes. The best part is its BYOB. We got the owner to take a couple of shots of shoju with us. I think this place is great for casual and large group dining. Its definitely not a date night kind of place. The location is a little bit sketchy, but if it really scares you that much then you probably shouldn't ever leave the house, its really not that bad.

I think this is the best all you can eat Yakiniku on the island. Hands down. they have galbi, Kobe, sangyupsal, brisket, beef tongue and intestines, AND MORE! Plus they have recently lowered the prices to $19.99. Which is the cheapest on the island, considering that they have a huge selection of meat, free parking, and it is byob (they also sell too though i think). The service is great, and I foresee myself coming to eat here a lot more often now that it is cheaper!

I ordered the YU KE, raw meat dish with a raw egg yolk and side veggies. The dish was not bad considering this was the first time I tried it. FYI, try not to think about the dish being raw meat and raw egg while consuming or else you may gag while eating this dish.LOL I was able to finish my dish in between gags. The dish needs to be ordered as a side dish because it will not fill you up even with the side dishes and seaweed soup that comes with it and bowl rice.

I did not expect to receive such good service at a dinky little Korean restaurant in Kalihi--hence the five stars. My waitress was so sweet and polite: she asked nicely if she could remove my dishes, she gave me extra kimchee, she checked up on me regularly, and after she cleared my bowl, she asked if she could bring me hot tea. All this with a sweet, gentle, genuine smile. The other thing that threw me was that they pour you lemon scented water. Nice touch! It was a sweltering day, so I ordered the naeng myun: cold, chewy buckwheat noodles in a light, icy broth with brisket, an apple slice, julienne cucumbers, and daikon slices with hot mustard and vinegar on the side. It came with a bunch of above average kimchee dishes. Everything was tasty. Prices here are average, but with the quality of service, I'm definitely going back.

I started going to Han Yang restaurant in the late 90's - we went to garage sales on Saturday morning and a friend recommended we stop there for lunch - the people were fairly friendly and the food was OK. I went there for dinner several times and again, the food was OK. I stopped going there for a time but in 2008, I wanted Korean food and that's where we headed. The restaurant apparently had changed hands in the interim and I have to say, the food and presentation had changed for the better (all the combos came on a sizzling platter). We went there several times and other than the smoke from the tables where customers had yakiniku, we enjoyed eating there and always felt welcomed when we walked in. Then again, we stopped going for a while but a couple of months ago, I again wanted to have Korean food. As soon as we walked in, it was apparent that something had changed because only one other table was occupied. Well, the soup came and it was lukewarm and greasy so I couldn't finish it. The ban chan were all remarkably bland and unappetizing. I ordered the bi bim kook soo and it had NO taste. My boyfriend ordered a combo plate and it's supposed to come on a sizzling platter but it wasn't (sizzling) so the onions on the bottom of the platter were still raw. He was supposed to have BBQ chicken but It looked like plain grilled chicken and he said it hadn't been salted. The only thing we could figure was that people had complained about the food being over seasoned so they stopped seasoning everything!! Despite ours being the only occuped table (the other party had left), we didn't have any service to speak of - I guess they don't check on you and ask how everything is because they don't want to hear the answer. Anyway, totally awful - on the flip side, I checked on Yelp and found Young's Kal-Bee in Aiea and that's where I've been getting my Korean food "fix".

The food is amazing! Good types of meat & for $19.99 all you can eat sounds great. NOW the down fall!! So in the midst of trying to figure out what I was ono for being pregnant I really just wanna eat everything lol.. I told my husband that I wanted hang yang. We get there & take our seats. Then what people like to call the grumpy mama san ask what you like? First off a smile & a polite hello, what would you like to drink? would of worked well. But not from her. I asked if I could have an extra napkin & spoon for my daughter. She says how old is she? So I told her she's 3 with a smile like any proud mom would. Not even 2 secs later another rude remark "is she eating?" Like No my daughters gonna sit here & watch me & her father eat. Trying to retain my craziness I politely said yes she is, she rolls her eyes & say "oh she eat free!" My husband at this point is about ready to leave but I begged for us to stay. Now comes time for our food as she drops the extra napkin & spoon for my daughter, my daughter told her thank you. She just walked away. So rude!! Then we had to keep calling someone over to give us rice, water, veggies, ect. Everytime it was like an inconvenience to them. (We go there often despite the rudeness because most time the young Korean girl is our waitress. Which she is really nice.) I got to the point where I just couldn't take it, I got up told my husband pay so we could leave. As I was in the restroom wash my hands, my husband was getting the raw deal outside lol. Mama san yelled at him to turn off the stove my husband told her he didn't know how then she said something in Korean. He told her I wasn't satisfied & thats the reason for us leaving so please tell me how much to pay. When I came out mind you i really dont take kindly to rude statements & behavior. She began to say sorry like the bullshit way "im sorry I work 7 days a week, today so busy, I didn't sleep much" so busy we were the only people there the whole time. Then shit hit the fan while we walked out she said you HAVE TO LEAVE TIP. 15% not for her but her waitress. I flipped I was like excuse me? You have to be shitting me! You get a tip if I was satisfied or had at least decent service & didn't have to call you to my table or loudly say excuse me! . She was pissed I told her your nuts I ain't leaving a penny! Ill leave you a tip though dont mix those outfits together, you look like a hot mess!! (:

If I could I would rate this place negative stars. First of all this place is pretty expensive and in a ghetto location. I feel like you could get mugged by just standing outside the restaurant. There are homeless and dirty people hanging outside since there is a mini mart couple of stores away. Girls you should carry a rape whistle around. My friend wanted to eat here because he wanted to compare it to Shillawon (It was about three dollars cheaper). I would've paid three more dollars (and then some) to eat at shillawon instead after experiencing their horrible service. The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there. There was about five parties in there and ours was the largest (8 people). We started off with the usual korean side dishes and it tasted okay like every other place. They didnt ask us if we wanted a refill of those. First we ordered our meat. It is different than Shillawon where give you a set plates of meat to finish off before you can start choosing. Their service is really bad to the point where we had to waive down the waitress for more meat. After we were done with our fourth order of meat they totally ignored us(It wasn't even like they were busy). Even waiving them down did not work. So we had to stand up to get their attention. The owner blew her eyes and shook her head at us. Did we just get cut off in a BUFFET??? I thought a buffet was all you can eat? I guess to them it just meant four plates of meat. So we decided to just have our check instead. Also, I noticed the male owner hitting on these other patrons (3 young japanese girls) He started to speak to them in Japanese and even gave them his business card. Gross!!! I would not come back here ever!!! I hardly have bad things to say about restaurant but this place takes the cake!

For the money, you can't beat it. This is in Kalihi, near the post office, in the back of a strip mall. Parking was relatively easy, no wait to get seated, and the restaurant was cleaner than expected. We had kalbi, short ribs, pork, spicy pork, and numerous varieties. It was a great meal for $26.

Best Korean Yakiniku buffet in Hawaii. I think it's about $25 per person and all you can eat meats. They also bring the free soup and fish, etc... You order plates of meat at a time, and they just keep bringing it out. I personally haven't had the appetite for the buffet, and have only done ala carte. I thought the meat was comparable to all the other yakiniku in Hawaii. Don't expect too much on the service, it's an authentic Korean restaurant, and they are pretty rude. Another minus is that they are in Kalihi.

What makes Han Yang unique is that they serve a good variety of veggie dishes with your meal. My favorite dish here is the stone pot meat with veggies. After mixing the raw egg with the kochu jang sauce, the taste of the burnt rice on the bottom of the pot is just terrific.

This place is the best Yakiniku I've ever had! For about $25, the quality of the All you can eat Yakiniku buffet is better than the sets you'd have to pay more than double the price for at any other place. My favorite part about Han Yang is the salad that they serve you. It is fresh lettuce topped with their signature house-made Yakiniku dipping sauce. It may not sound like much, but you have to try it! There's no other way to describe it. We got the all you can eat Yakiniku buffet but I couldn't help myself asking the waitress for more salad! The meat was of excellent quality. Very tender and juicy. It doesn't really matter what you get from the Yakiniku menu, you will be pleased. However, if you get any of the meats rubbed in fresh garlic, don't dip it in sauce! The garlic offers a tremendous flavor to the already awesome meats. If you're not in the mood for Yakiniku, Han Yang offers a great place to eat a quick lunch. The BBQ Kal Bi plate comes with three generous pieces of tender, marinated Kal Bi meat, served on top of a sizzling platter of Maui onions and topped with fresh chopped green onions. This comes with a bowl of rice and a large selection of sides. Han Yang is very generous with their rice and their sides. The staff was always willing to give another serving of rice or sides. My favorite side is the seaweed topped with a spicy sauce. What sets Han Yang apart from the other Yakiniku places is that it is a small restaurant where the owner plays an active role in the business. The owner can usually be found in the kitchen cooking or preparing meat, but you can also regularly catch him hanging out with the customers.

Stone Pot Bul Go Gi is mean! Presentation was killahz as well as taste. Side dishes are also included and they keep um coming. This time I tried the Spicy Pork & Han Yang special. Spicy pork was good & the special came with fried fish, meat jun, steak, short rib, chicken & Mon doo. The fried fish was the least appetizing of the bunch. The chicken & steak was tender soft & best tasting to me. All and all, it was pretty good.

The food is yummy. I was here with a group of friends last week and we had the dinner all you can eat bbq. They use good quality meat (kobe beef) and the kimchee was up to my liking. Some of my favorite, was the beef tounge, the garlic kal bee and the brisket. The server was attentive and kept changing the gril for us. The only downside was the ambiance, but for the price it is awesome :)

mmmmm meat. all you can eat yakiniku? count me in! although the restaurant's location is...less than favorable, the food here more than makes up for it! i've been to this place several times and each time, the quality of the meat has been consistently amazing. the price is a bit steep but for the selection and quality, it's a VERY fair price. there are places in LA that charge almost the same price and the quality sucks. i want han yang to move here ): (my favorites: beef tongue and brisket) i'm addicted to their dipping sauce! it's sooooo yummy with the meat...and drizzled over veggies...and on its own.. anyways. this place is also good if you just want some authentic korean food. ask for the mak jang jjigae or bibim naengmyun! two of my favorite dishes :D definitely paying this restaurant a visit (probably multiple visits .___. sighh byebye beach body diet..) when i get back to paradise! tip: wear loose clothing. your stomach will thank you.

I've been going to Han Yang for at least 14 years, they've gone through at least one owner change. It used to be really good and our go to family Korean restaurant, but since the change in ownership, there are many other Korean restaurants I'd rather go to. I had family in town so I was summoned back to the hood. My favorite Korean food is kal bi, especially the "big boned" kal bi (rather than the thin 3 bone piece). I've tried it every where (Sorabol, Dong Yang, So Gong Dong, and my fav O-Bok). I was appalled when I was served this "boneless kal bi" which was NOT a short rib cut. It was lean and dry, totally lacking the flavorful and fatty quality of kal bi. My cousin who's a butcher, said that other Korean restaurants are doing this too! Other things we ordered: - Chicken, dry, tasteless - Spicy pork, hard, over cooked, very thin - Chop chae, very tasty! My favorite dish of the night. IMHO, serving grilled meats on a sizzling plate is over rated. It just results in over cooked food. Also, I didn't know about the lemon water and was disgusted by the bits and pieces at the bottom of my cup.

I gotta say although its in kalihi this korean restaurant is one of the best on the island. Even though the water taste like chlorine sometimes the meat is really good. The cow tongue is the best i had thick and chewy.

If you like yakiniku, you'll love this place. Lots of choices of meat from kal bi to pork belly to bulgogi to beef tongue to BBQ pork to BBQ chicken. Most of those come with a garlic or salted version as well. lunch and dinner buffets are great!

han yang gets four stars for its overall value. we've been to many korean places: sorabol, seoul, seoul garden, million, korea house, dong baek when it was dong baek and choi's garden to name some. what makes han yang stand out is (1) friendliness and quality of service, as the first reviewer pointed out & (2) quality of food given price and location away from koreamoku and its neighborhood. the only thing is that we never got the lemon scented water; we've gotten wet towels. it may be because we never did the yakiniku there. normally, when we go there, we don't have time for the long leisurely yakiniku experience. we like the butterfish stew, seafood pancake (better than million and seoul), spicy pork, chicken, and kalbi. i would say their chicken has the best flavor and tenderness of all the korean places i've been to. normally, chicken doesn't stand out for me, but han yang's does. their plates--which all come sizzling at han yang's, not like some other places-- are quite sizeable for the price. unless you have a moke's appetite or are exceedingly hungry, two can share a plate of chicken and spicy pork, which will come with the usual ban chan plus the salad with spicy-sweet dressing, and order a seafood pancake or soft tofu stew and leave absolutely stuffed. you might even have leftovers to bring home. they also have this special for $20-odd dollars of a variety of meats and one of the soups or stews. this is prominently advertised on the walls. we've never been hungry enough to order this but if we do, i'll update this review. overall, i think it's a great value for the price. i'd rather drive from kaimuki to go here than sorabol or million, which are much closer, to get my korean fix. UPDATE AS OF APRIL 2009: we finally tried han yang's yakiniku. oh. mah. gawd. what an awesome value. for about $26 at dinner or $23 at lunch per person, you can have all you can eat yakiniku. ah sed: all you can eat yakiniku. i don't think anyone else does that anymore, and certainly not at that price. we had the kal bi and the kobe style pork, and holey cow--the amount of meat they give you is copious. you also get the usual ban chan (won bok kim chee, soybeans, shoyu potato, fish cake, and four other kinds i can't remember right now) plus the lettuce with spicy-sweet dressing, plus a medium sized hot pot of either seafood soup or tofu stew (i highly recommend the tofu stew! it's so yummy--spicy, yet nuanced with tofu, lots of veggies and more meat than you'd expect). of course you also get the lettuce to wrap your grilled meat in after you've dabbed some soybean paste and/or sesame seed oil with salt & pepper and/or spicy-sweet ponzu-like dip on it along with a bit of grilled garlic. i'm making myself drool as i type this. service is still fairly quick depending on how busy it is, and unlike some other korean restaurants, they don't treat non-koreans as their lessers. i think the yakiniku buffet is totally a great deal if you're (a) starvingly hungry and really craving meat and/or (2) bring a number of people along, bcs the communal nature of yakiniku makes having a meal with a bunch of people you care for that much more enjoyable.

this place gets 5 stars in my book for taste and value for about 8.50 i got rice with unlimited side dishes two super tender juicy pieces of kalbi made with black angus beef and a big piece of meat jun which you could tell was marinated before dipped in the egg batter and not that it even needed it but the meat jun sauce was great too... if you like the yoon's meat jun you will love this one it has the same great taste without all the oil that yoon's meat jun has... as for service it was pretty good considering it was a korean restaurant and the service usually sucks...the restaurant itself could use some renovation typically not a first date kinda place but i don't rate on the decor the best places are the run down hole in the walls... other than that the only thing that could of made the meal better was the side dishes they were okay nothing special but overall this place is the best priced korean restaurant i would say on the entire island even cheaper than yummys for way better food
