I have become a pho snob. They have set my standards high which has become my norm. You will become spoiled by the amount of meat they give you with your pho! I thought that was the usual, until I tried another place (late night and they were not open). My family and I love eating here (great ambiance, nice modern decor, superb service) but this is also our "Go To" place when we do not feel like cooking. In addition to their amazing pho with its unforgettable savory broth, we also like their bun dishes and spring/summer rolls. I love supporting local businesses like this and encourage you to do the same!

Fee-Fi-Pho...OOOU PHO! Being a Pho-natic in Kalihi was ok. All the pho places were close, but still a hassle, then one day this brightly light lime green shop pooped up near my favorite pet store near my house. How convenient for myself. I was excited to try this place out. From the outside, the glass windows and doors show cased the neatly interior designed restaurant. The store really pops and has some modern features that give the store a nicer restaurant feel than any other pho restaurant in china town. FOOD I always get their summer rolls ( yelp.com/biz_photos/ha-l… ). It is the best ever!!!!! I love how fresh it tastes. The meat and shrimp wrapped up in a nice soft wrap. The wrap just melts in your mouth. Some places the wrap is tough (like they made it hours ago) or the wrap is falling apart. The one here is perfect. I also normally get there Chicken Pho or Meat Ball Pho with raw meat on the side. I love their soup base. It isn't too salty, but has the right amount of flavor. I do end up spicing mine up a little. I also love love love their Vermicelli Plates. I have tried the Lemon Grass chicken ( yelp.com/biz_photos/ha-l… ) and shrimp; both are amazing and very fulfilling. I am a big boy and these plates stuff me up!!!! It is filled with delicious vegetables under the pile of vermicelli noodles and topped with a load of lemon grass chicken or shrimp. They portions here are awesome. I definitely recommend you to get the vermicelli bowls if you are extremely hungry. SERVICE The service here is fairly good. 80% of the time they are perfect, but maybe because 80% of the time one of my friends is working so they make sure we are satisfied. Today and a couple other times I came here, the plate of herbs and vegetables came after our Pho was already placed in front of us, or sometimes we had to ask for it. I just assumed it was assumed that we want a plate of herbs and vegetables. Also, I noticed in bug parties they seem to lack the timing of entrees. I feel like, unless asked not to, they should bring out all the food orders around the same time. I have observed three or four times where an entrée was forgotten or someone got their entrée after everyone was already half way through their meal. Generally, this small shop is pretty good. I have been here way too many times so those few incidents give this place a high average for service. Overall, this is a GO-TO Pho place when you are in Kalihi. I seriously always choose this place when I crave Pho or Summer Rolls. You could even just call in your order and pick it up. It is perfect for when I am sick, I just order take-out delicious Pho and eat it at home without driving too far.

Just called in to make phone order, 1 min later we decided to cancel. Called them back and the guy gave me attitide. I apologized and he just hung up on me. I know it must have been irritating but really, thats how you treat your customers????? I guess I'll just stick to PHO MY LIEN!!!!

Tasty place with very dated/new decor as well as a/c. The pho was good, and the service friendly.

My new favorite pho restaurant! This place is SO AWESOME and just really nice to look at. You can also be sure you'll always be greeted with a smile and a friendly "HELLO!" when you walk in. They immediately serve water, and always make sure your glass is full whenever they happen to be walking by, truly amazing service! Not to mention this is probably THE fastest I've EVER received my food! I once ordered a large pho and got it within MINUTES of ordering! I don't know how they do it, but it never fails to amuse! I must absolutely recommend EVERYONE to try their Lemonade, it is FANTASTIC! I never come here without ordering it, otherwise my meal is just not complete! If you haven't come here yet, then shame on you. Ha Long Pho Noodle House is definitely a winner in all aspects!

Pho is one of those foods that's good when you're cold, hungover, hungry, on a diet, poor, when you don't know what else to eat, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Basically, it takes care of all of the above. However, what I don't like about going to pho places is that most of them are hole-in-the-walls. So sometimes when you go there hungover and it's super dirty, it makes you feel even more sick. Fortunately, this is one thing that Ha Long isn't: not a hole-in-the-wall and definitely not dirty! Even though it's a small place and sometimes you are really close to the next table besides you, it feels nice & clean. The workers speak english so if you have questions, they understand what you're saying. They also give you the option of having your beef served inside or outside of your broth which I like. The rawer the better! The broth is really light and tasty. I enjoy their different options for meat such as fatty brisket, tendon, and rare steak. I'm lucky because Ha Long is close to where I work so I can have it pretty much anyday ;)

Always great service, clean, friendly, prompt atmosphere. Food taste good and presented well. Love their spring roll and pork chop with rice noodles dish.

This is my favorite place to get pho- whether to dine in or take out. I've been coming here since they opened a couple years ago. My family and I love getting their seafood pho; it always comes with a generous amount of seafood (as opposed to other places I've gone to before that only give like 2 pieces of shrimp and the rest of the pieces are fishballs -___-). It taste amazing as well, never oily or bland. The combo deal they have with the pho + spring roll + soft drink is awesome if you're trying to fill your appetite and save money. I love the staff here too! They're so attentive and welcoming. I never have to wait too long for our food. I also like the atmosphere here-- the green walls with modern decor= not your average pho restaurant right? Anyway, Ha Long is definitely worth a try if you haven't gone there yet!

Large pho with flank, tendon, and tripe. Side summer roll total $18.16. Total out of pocket $21 dollars. Way too expensive, soup tasted like s&s saimin. Service was fast though.

The best pho I've tasted on the island! So full of flavor! When ever I'm in a rice plate mood, I always choose the pork chop plate...another great choice! I'm glad I live closer to this area now, making it more accessible when I'm not in the mood to cook ;)

I always tell people, pho is pho, but this place has made me realize that some pho restaurants are not like the others. Out of all the pho places I've been to, Ha Long was the most overpriced. My two friends and myself all got the Beef Combination Pho (LARGE) and shared an order of the supposedly "nom nom!" worthy Summer Rolls. The Summer Rolls were nothing special, but that's not what concerned me; The $9.49 pho had only a few slivers of tripe and tendon and like 3 pieces of some of the thinnest sliced rare steak I have ever had. Disappointing portion size and horrible parking make this a place I'll probably avoid in the future.

Been here a few times. Tonight was first time i found a tiny cockroach in pho :/ i asked to send it back and make a new one . The owner ,or so i think he is , didnt even say sorry or offer to comp it. I was nice im not the type to yell out and embarrass anyone . So a warning to anyone who comes here , lookout for Roaches :(

i super duper love their pho rare steak. i add some sprouts & hosen sauce & also jalapeño in it. hmm... yummy... i like the broth it has this aroma that you slurp it and warms my tummy especially on a cold day or just having a normal cold & cough... pho is a good remedy to get over a bad sick. i love their tai tea & also don't forget their summer rolls its super awesome with their peanut sauce...

I will tell you right now. I've never had pho... until the people I work with suggested getting some for lunch. When we were seated and I was handed the menu, I didn't know what to order and I don't remember exactly what I got, so it must've been nothing special to me. Since I didn't know what I ordered, I didn't realize that I had tripe (sp?) in my pho, which made it less appealing for me to eat especially after they kind of explained what it was. But I got through the dish anyway, just making sure I avoided taking a bite of any tripe on my chopsticks. Of course, I haven't given up all hope of trying pho again. The next time around I have an idea of what to order.

Not all pho is equal. With that said, Ha Long is my #2 go-to pho place on the island. The only thing I don't care for here is the banana tapioca pudding but hey, you win some, you lose some. Anyway, besides that, the pho broth is GREAT and the noodles are always perfect: Not too firm, not too mushy. I love how it is open late (until 9pm and until 3pm on Sundays) and there is lots of free parking. The green decor is very inviting and the staff here are always super friendly and patient (esp when I come in 15 minutes before closing--sorry!).

My bf has got to be THE most fickle Pho eater ever... I finally convinced him to try Ha Long with me and a couple friends one day after a crazy, retarded night of binge drinking... Needless to say, we all felt like $#!+ that day and were hung-the-eff-over. Being that my bf was hungover made it a whole lot easier to convince him to eat some Pho! (Yay!) THE BREAKDOWN Spring rolls are always a must... Our friend Kyle ordered the BBQ pork chops and chicken Pho. My bf ordered beef. And our friend Jon and I had ordered beef and tendon pho, large of course. The food came out pretty quickly. But I was so damn hungry that it felt like FOREVER. (7 minutes seems like an eternity when you're starving... Not that I timed them or anything...) The broth was delicious, clean, and flavorful. I kept my broth PURE, with the exception of some basil, jalapeños, lemon, and sprouts; I went without the sriraccha and all that jazz. The broth was so good that I didn't want to taint it with sauce. VERDICT Ha Long is fantastic. Service is friendly and the food is superb. I can't wait to go back!

We had such a nice dinner at Ha Long last week. Their eggplant tofu is always great. Their pho is excellent - the broth has a special tasty flavor.

I do remember eating here awhile back and took a liking to the flavor of the broth. Wasnt too oily or didnt lack flavor. I also remember liking the decor and how clean it was. I frowned at how close together all the tables were. Most Pho restaurants i visit arent very big to begin with but squeezing your butt inbetween tables while trying not to bang the other guest is a chore lol.

Pho-natic! Fresh, hot, flavorful food. Order anything it will be excellent. No doubt about it. Friendly staff that will help you order if you are new to pho. Small location, so get there early for lunch or dinner, but worth any wait. You are sure to become a pho-natic after Ha Long Pho.

Pregnancy Craving for lunch #1. I would definitely go back, if I was craving Pho again. FOOD ORDERED: 1) Spring Rolls. Fresh & Crispy. Just how I like it. But nothing out of the ordinary. 2) Well Done Brisket, Well Done Flank Pho Soup, and Beef Balls. (gotta order well done, cuz I'm pregos) The soup base was full flavored and appetizing. I was better than most Pho places that I've been to. 2) My husband ordered the Combo. ENVIRONMENT Contempo design with green, black and white accents. Not your average "Vietnamese family, old school decor". Clean. Probably could seat up to 30 people. Bathroom is in mall area, you need a key. SERVICE 15 minute wait at 12:15pm on a Friday. Food came extremely quick. Good service.

Let me just start by saying that I eat pho but not a phonatic. Wife wasn't feeling the greatest so the first place that came to my mind was pho. Pho is great for hangovers so I figured it should be great if you're sick as well. Food - 5 Stars I think we both ordered the combo pho bowl. The one with all the different meat. They were out of tripe that day (bummer) so I asked for extra balls (that's beef balls). They were more then happy to give me extra balls. We also ordered the spring rolls since this was popular. I missed judged the amount that they give you. I swear the menu said that you get one spring roll for 2 dollars and somewhat cents. Therefore, I ordered two (one for each of us) thinking that we were going to have one each. When they brought it out, there were 3 on the plate. Blessing in disguise because they were really good. They were crispy and tasted fresh. Still won't make that mistake again though. I also ended up loving the pho combo. Meat good! Noodle good! Veggies good! Broth was absolutely phobulous! Service - 5 Stars The service was really good as well. They were fairly busy for lunch and we had to wait about 20 minutes or so. But however, they double teamed to clean our table, apologized for the wait and sat us as fast as they could. They also quickly came out with waters, took our orders and also came out with the food fast as well. That's all that you can ask for in a restaurant. Environment - 4.5 Stars The inside is fairly small but cozy. I also liked the inside decor as well. They have bench seats on the sides and regular tables in the middle. I just wish they could seat a little more people but I know they that isn't their fault. We left feeling full and happy. I think I found myself a spot to eat pho when i'm in the mood for it. Will most defiantly be coming back pho show!

When I first came to this place, I noticed how cool looking it was. I love the green color scheme they got going on, it feels earthy and peaceful :). I love the food here too. The food is really yummy and they have a good a selection of pho. The phos range from beef, chicken, seafood, tofu, vegetables and even one with just plain broth and noodles. I also love how they offer brown rice at their restaurant- that is a MAJOR plus for me! The food here is a 5/5! HOWEVER, the only reason why I give this place a 4 instead of a 5 is because of their Thai tea! I love my Thai tea. However, I felt that their Thai tea tasted a little weird. It did not taste like Thai tea to me...for some odd reason...it tasted a little chocolaty. Lol I know that's a weird description...but what can I say? It was a weird tasting drink! Having to look at a orange, icy beverage but tastes like chocolate was kind of a mind fuck for me. So yeah...I am not a fan of the Thai tea....but like I said, the food is amazing!

There was a little baby just-hatched COCKAROACH floating in my pho! Nuff said. Ive eaten here many times. Service is good, food is good, but today was just....its hard to have an appetite or even remember the good times when something like that happens. U sit down, take a big spoonful of soup and find a little cockaroach floating in it. I let the waitress know who apologized and then quickly brought me a new one. But if u cook all the broths together, wouldnt my roach have been swimming in the whole thing? And then the staff kinda ignored us like the plague afterward. Soooo yea. Such a bad experience. Manager didnt even remove the pho from my bill (i did NOT eat the 2nd one they brought) and instead only gave us a smalllll employee discount. Their food is usually 3.5-4 star good. The service was not what it shouldve been. An because of the experience, i may not ever return.

Favorite pho in town! Pho is all the same...the broth is the what's make it and Ha Long's broth is delicious! I also like that they have a combination with a summer roll and a soda. Their summer roll is ono too. This is a regular stop for me and has become a favorite.

I introduced my bf to this pace earlier this week and a part of me is glad that I did and the other part of me is regretting it because now that is all he wants to eat. I used to come here to eat lunch with my mom and days that I finished school early.. We used to order take out, my mom having the vegetable pho and me the plain. At first I didn't think that it was anything great, I was such a noob at pho that I thought Bale's was the best.. (((how wrong i was))) Anywho, lately my bf and i have been trying to find a good pho place so we've been venturing off to any pho place that had good reviews ((thank you yelp app on my phone ^__^)) It was then I remembered of Ha Long being by my moms work place so why not give it a go. The bf is very particular to pho places that we go to. It can't be a rip off and they HAVE to have spring rolls that don't charge an arm and a leg. And luckily Ha Long is both.. We got the combo where you can get a large pho, a drink and one spring roll for $11.95 ((Thank you Emi H.!!)) but of course, being that my bf is in love with spring rolls, we ordered a spring rolls appetizer. Anyway back to the food.. It was delicious!! The other places that I've been to, I hardly drank the soup, but here, well I just couldn't stop drinking it even if I was full. The noodles, yummy.. I got the well done brisket.. very very good. In one week we came twice for lunch.. We would have gone more often but I had to restrain him from eating spring rolls everyday ;)

Best pho place on the island! good service. very clean (especially compared to most pho places) and tasty broth. would go there every week if I lived nearby. not a big restaurant so can sometimes be a wait, but service is fast.

  • Janet K.

The pho is pretty good here and I would have given them five stars but they messed up our order. My friend ordered her pho with no onions and I ordered mine with the rare steak on the outside. Both came out wrong. That's two out of two orders wrong. Fail! The broth was clean but it could have been hotter. They're pretty generous with their meat. They also offer a combination with any large pho, one spring roll or summer roll and a drink for $11 and some change. Not bad if you hungry enough for the large. I like how the restaurant looks with the green chopsticks and sauce dishes. It's pretty clean in there and the servers wear these cute green shirts that say "Be a Pho Natic." Definitely a place to check out if you're in the area. It's located in the same complex as Sugoi and Pancake & Waffles so parking is plentiful but pretty difficult if you come during prime time.

I am surely a Pho-natic! One of my favorite places for pho! I usually get the beef brisket in small portion. And for the small portion, that is quite a meal! Ha Long is known to give lots of rice noodles and is not stingy at all with their beef :) The broth is quite amazing also I must say. Although there are days where I SWEAR i've tasted their brother better, must be the cook? Took my dad here for Pho while he was visiting from California, and he noticed the thin and clear consistency of the soup, meaning that possible the broth is watered down and flavored with MSG? I guess he is a big Pho critic considering that he has tried many great Pho restaurants in CA. Regardless, one of my favorite places for Pho. Must try the freshly squeezed salted lemonade! Very yum and compliments the pho well. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Small restaurant that can seat roughly 30 people? But the waits are not unusually long and food is prepared in a decent time :) Free parking, great atmosphere and lively decor. Ha Long Pho Noodle House also has an app on itunes! Download it, its free. Never found a reason to use it, but downloaded it anyway .

Me and my husband are regulars here and this is one of the few restaurants that come close to what my husband is used to back on the mainland (He is Vietnamese). The lemongrass chicken or bbq pork vermicelli is my favorite and they give you a pretty big portion. The pho is very good too, my husband always gets the combination pho. The only thing to keep in mind would be to make sure to avoid lunch time unless you don't mind waiting for people to get done eating because it is a small restaurant.

"Going Green?" I'm not exactly sure that Ha Long Pho Noodle House knew what that phrase meant when they decided to get onboard with the movement! Green, green, green and green. Inside Ha Long Pho Noodle House, everywhere I look, all I see is green! The walls are green the menus are green. Even the chopsticks are green! The food I ordered to-go was pretty good. I really enjoyed the Lemongrass Chicken. The Green (Ack! more green!) Papaya Salad was less so. I usually eat green papaya salad from Thai restaurants, and it is always spicy. My Vietnamese green papaya salad from Ha Long Pho Noodle House was not at all spicy. I like it spicy. Is this normal for Vietnamese green papaya salad? Either way, when I go back to this uber-green restaurant, ironically, I will not be getting the Green Papaya Salad again.

Love this place. Accidentally stumbled on it, and glad we did. I had never had Vietnamese, but always wanted to try. My family of 4 (kids are 2 & 5) ate two large bowls of pho and papaya salad. We were full, but kept eating due to the overwhelming deliciousness. Food was fresh and flavorful. Dishes had complexity, but all the flavors worked together very well. Waiter was helpful, nice, and patient with kiddos. Prices, very reasonable. Hands down, great restaurant.

I came here for dinner once, and it was pretty packed. I must say I give them credit for getting people in and out and seating the people that were waiting in a pretty reasonable amount of time. The restaurant is really tiny with a few seats here and there. The restaurant appears clean. The staff are quick and friendly. I ordered the combination pho. The herbs were fresh, however I was given a lemon instead of a lime. Call me a purist, but alas! Also, there were no chilis or fresh jalapenos on my plate of herbs. There are lots of condiments though - sirracha, hoisin sauce, fish sauce and the garlic chili sauce. The pho was alright. Not the best I've tasted. The broth was just mediocre. The noodles were cooked right. The portions of meat, and tendon was good. I got one meatball and that's it. For a medium bowl, it was pretty packed with noodles, which I guess will fill you up. It's a little under $9.00 for a medium bowl. Just got back from Saigon, where a bowl of pho cost $1.50 USD. Looking at the prices on the menu made me sad. I came here before and ordered their bun cha or vermicelli noodle salad. It was ok as well. I wasn't blown away by it, but it wasn't bad either. I've had better tasting BBQ meat on the island. I'd give this place another try and try other things on the menu.

Never thought I'd find another pho place to give 4 or more stars to besides Hale Vietnam, but looks like I've found one! Super clean, VERY good service (thanks Paul!)....and really good pho. Very nice restaurant too---contemporary and I love the shade of green for some reason. Spring rolls were delish and my friend's iced coffee thing looked good although I just wasn't in the mood for creamy iced coffee that afternoon....you can probably guess why....haha. Anyway, the broth here is good....they give a lot of meat too.... Closer to my house than Hale Vietnam too.....so, it looks like I found me a new convenient go-to pho joint! =) Can't wait to go back to try the other menu items.

Ha Long is my favorite pho place outside of Chinatown! First of all, Ha Long is probably the cleanest Vietnamese restaurant in Honolulu. My family always eats in Chinatown so I'm accustomed to those dirty and grungy hole-in-the-wall Viet dive restaurants, so Ha Long's bright and tidy atmosphere is a nice change of pace. I also love the decor - very trendy and chic. Ha Long is not the place where you'll find oversized Viet calendars and mother-of-pearl country scenes on black lacquered panels lining the restaurant walls. Best of all, no Paris by Night music videos playing in the background. Thank god. As for the food: Watercress Salad - Refreshing! It tastes just like my mom's Vietnamese watercress salad. Enough said. Pho - I always order a medium, and the portion size is generous and hefty and puts other pho restaurants to shame. The Combination Pho is packed with TONS OF MEAT and other goodies! I'm usually feeling stuffed by the time I finish all the meat that I barely make a dent in the noodles. Service at Ha Long is outstanding! The servers are so sweet and friendly, and the food always come out quickly. There's ample parking available outside. I always recommend Ha Long to friends, and all of them have turned into pho-natics.

Delicious soup base and large servings! Thats a winning combination. Plus fresh ingredients. My favorite is the meat combo but their non-pho items are tasty too. It is not a large space, so if you're planning to go at lunch, go early, or later, just avoid that 12-1 pm slot. And since it is in City Square with all the other food establishment around, grab the first stall you can. You can call in for take out too, just have a large bowl to throw everything in. Makes it easier to eat. I've always been greeted with a smile by the friendly staff when I walk in. The wait staff is very attentive and they keep a clean place! If there's a downside for me, it is that they're too far away from where I live to make it the perfect next day hangover cure!

Taste good and they provide a lot of meat. This is my go to place for lunch in Kalihi. Too bad there isn't a place just as good as this in Kaimuki. I get steak and meatballs all the time, but also tried the watercress salad, lemongrass chicken, and tofu summer rolls, and they're all good.

Oh friend, you make me love this place! I wish I had pho, but I was craving vermicelli more than my needs of pho... pho-shame. :( When I walked in, my eyes widened. Why? The interior of this restaurant is super green, CLEAN, and it looks so cute! I like how they use the fonts here and how they put it on the windows for you to see. It just gives... pazazz! If you don't like the color green... too bad. You're missing out on this awesome place! The waiters are accommodating, and I approve of their service! Their menus are cute too! It's a circular thing attached to the ring holders. Kudos. I ordered the Spring Roll Vermicelli for $9.49, and the portions are pretty good for the price, especially for the taste! Everything was neatly placed. What made me happy was the sauce. Thumbs up. I can actually taste their sauce compared to other places. Would be better if it was a little spicier, BUT, they had condiments on the side, like sriracha, etc., so I was happy either way. I was excited in, and out. Next time, I need to order pho!

Yelp Challeng 365 # 18/.365 This is my week for pho! Ha Long is a cute small restaurant with round menus and a sign in sheet. Don't forget! you must sign in. Methodical, no imagination me orders the same thing everytime no matter where I go. In a way, this is a good way to compare one restaurant to another. It's like comparing apples to apples only this case is comparing pho to pho (ok=boring humor) Rare steak beef pho with side order summer rolls. Pho okay; broth okay; summer rolls okay

TASTY! fresh papaya salad, crunchy, good dressing/sauce, and it comes with shrimp :D crispy spring rolls - standard, but good.... only comes with 3 pieces tho. combination pho (various meats) is GOOD, but only came with 1/2 a meatball.... the other meats in there are good quality tho. AND - try the salted lemonade. i know it sounds a little weird, but its really, really good!!!

My BF and I have added Ha Long to our short list of worthy pho places for us to lunch at. We eat pho 1-2 times a week so it's great to be able to add a new spot to the mix. After a few visits to Ha Long, I've decided that it's their service and pho combo that keeps bringing me back again. The waitresses are always very nice and we've never had a problem being served promptly with a smile. I overheard the owner talking to a new girl one day and it was nice that she was giving her proper training on when to check up on customers. It seems like such a simple thing to do for your business and I'm always surprised by how many people aren't taught the basics. The pho combo is $11.95 and includes a large pho, one spring roll and a soda. I always want to eat spring rolls with my pho and this combo stops me from having to eat an entire order by myself. My BF is anti-deep fried food so he doesn't partake in my love of spring rolls. Mama doesn't need another roll of fat on her tummy so eating one spring roll is enough to satiate my cravings. The broth is not amazing compared to another pho place we like to frequent but the consistency of Ha Long more than makes up for it.

Cute hip decor but starting to shop signs of wear. Limited menu. Tasty broth, generous on the char siu. Limited menu for a Vietnamese pho joint -- would not go back.

Consistently excellent service and taste!!! Best part is the location which is less than 10 minutes away from home!! Whenever we are feeling sick, PHO is our go-to meal. The broth, veggies, rice noodles and lemon are the perfect remedy to making you feel so cozy, warm and satisfied. Aaaaahhhhh...with a nap to immediately follow... Also, love the trendy decor and cleanliness of this noodle shop.

Service was the best part of this little restaurant. I had the lemongrass chicken vermicelli (roughly $9) and a side order of summer roll. The summer roll (about $3) was different and not necessarily in a good way. I also didn't care for their peanut sauce. It didn't have the depth of others i've had. This was my second time here but the first time I had pho and it was better... so maybe I'd need to stick with the pho if I come back. Pretty tiny restaurant. Maybe about 10 tables or so.

A friend recommended we try this place since we were craving pho. The restaurant is small and cute and the pho was ok. I didn't care for the spring rolls, it didn't have that right crisp or fresh flavor to it. The service was attentive, then again it is a super tiny restaurant and we were sitting right next to the kitchen/register area. Go early, it's small and it can get full by the time noon hits. Doubt I'll come again but I may do so since some of the other reviewers seem to really like their pho.. I'm all for giving places second chances and who knows the chef or cook in the back may have been having an "off" day.

Good pho option if you're in the Kalihi area. The notable thing about this place is the decor, which is gourmet-ish and hip. The kids seem to love it here. I prefer a hole in the wall rather than have the facade woo me, but that's me. It's certainly the most contemporary pho restaurant I've been to on Oahu. The pho broth is ok, better than most pho restaurants I think, but still not the best. Plus their broth:noodle/fixings ratio is off, there's too much stuff and too little broth. Perhaps this can be alleviated by bigger bowls rather than their stylish ones. The spring rolls are good, but I was not blown away.

H was craving pho for dinner, however, most places were closed in Chinatown area, so we ventured out to Kalihi area. I was wowed by the interior design of this place, it's contemporary and fresh. I love the lime green they painted on the wall. They offered the traditional pho combinations and variety of meats, and the price ranges from $8.50 to $10, a bit pricier and the portions are slightly smaller than Chinatown. However, they make up for it in the environment and service. The broth was a bit salty. They used the thicker rice noodles, which is more traditional pho.

This place is next door to Sugoi's in the City Square Shopping Center (you know, where the Chuck E. Cheese is). The place is small but super clean, with modern looking decor, servers are looking to help out with alacrity, and the parking is ample. Another good sign was that at around noon, the place was packed. As I live in the Liliha/Nuuanu area, this will be my go-to pho place instead of Saigon Deli (read my review on why I am not particularly fond of the place). I ordered the large pho with beef eye round steak and beef balls. I ordered the combo that included a spring roll and a drink for $11.95 (large pho is $8.95 by itself). On second thought, it's was probably better to just get the whole serving of spring rolls as I felt a little ripped off that it was just one spring roll cut in half with fish sauce on a small bed of green leaf lettuce(still you get a drink with that). The pho steak and beef balls were delicious and there were plenty of noodles to justify the "large" title to the order. As others may have mentioned, the broth is a bit clear and not "brothy" but it's not something a few squirts of hoisin sauce cannot cure. That's why that plastic hoisin bottle is there on every table, bruddah. What this also tells me is that as the broth is pretty "clean", there's not any MSG in it which I think a lot of places with the thick broth rely on. Anyway, I'm good with this.

*lemongrass chicken, 2 pho, banana tapioca = about $30* *BYOB* Dear Ha Long, We've seen each other four times now and I must say, your pho is very tasty and the noodles and meat present in impressively large amounts. My husband fancies himself a pho aficionado/evangelist and your establishment is one of his favorites. Your spring rolls could be better, but they are not bad. The banana tapioca was decent. Your lemongrass chicken did not have the expected redness of others and looked not so tasty, but tasty it certainly was. It has been added to my golden list of take-out possibilities. You are clearly not a place to bring small children as their voices seemed to echo off of the walls and hit other patrons in the face. We apologize for the hyperactivity and sheer volume of our children, however we may attempt to bring them again as my daughter has an affinity for your meatballs. I've not seen her eat so many balls of meat ever before. Do not worry, we will visit at an off-hour, such as 4:13pm. You're so attentive, so caring, so careful. You did not scold us, confuse our order, nor make our ears bleed with cacophonous strains of Vietnamese hits. Not that the language is not beautiful. In a jarring way. I hope you move to a larger establishment as our stroller does not fit in your restaurant and it was filled to capacity at 6:00. Till we meet again, Angela

The minute my boyfriend introduced me to Ha Long, I fell in love. The green walls make it feel so peaceful, and even though the restaraunt is small, it's a cozy small not a cramped small feeling. Ha Long is the cleanest pho restaraunt I've been to. The broth is decent but the noodles are amazing. The spring rolls are the best around. Our food never takes more then 10 minutes to come out. When I'm hungry I hate waiting, the grouch comes out. It's located near our house, which is a bonus for us. It's never hard to find parking here because there's a big lot and plenty street parking.

Briefly, the soup was bland, the beef and other things inside were few for a large (the tendon was falling apart and in small pieces), and the waitress forgot an order. Oh, and did I mention that their combination costs more than 11 bucks? Nice, bright interior, though.

One of our favorite places to eat pho and it is in Kalihi. This is a small hip pho place. When you enter it is bright green with words on the wall. Shop is small and tight. I never had to wait for a seat. The menu is in a circle, which i thought was cute. We got fresh summer roll or fried spring rolls or both. It is kind of small. We mix the Siracha in the peanut sauce. So good like that. We then have pho. They different sizes for their pho bowls. I get my regular size with the beef and beef ball. Broth is good clear, tastes clean, like healthy yummy good. Sometimes all I want to do is just drink the broth. My BF gets combo pho with meat, meatballs and tripe. We pput all the vegetables inside: bean sprouts, mint, but my BF like to take them all out after it soak in. I usually leave it all in. I tried their tapioca dessert, but I did not like it because it was very soupy. But the salted lemonade was actually really good. So everytime I am at my Bf house in Kalihi and I am craving pho, here we at =D

All around this is a great place to get your pho fix on. The broth is always on point and the workers are very attentive and check up on you every so often. The main reason I come here is for the SUMMER ROLLS. Nom nom! If you ever have the opportunity to come here, don't skip out on them. One downside: Parking can get full really fast so expect to be searching for a while if you're there during peak lunch hours.

I really enjoyed my first visit to this kiwi green themed restaurant. :) It's really trendy with all their retro word cut-outs on the walls and bright green paint and decor and I like it a lot. The decor is the first thing that jumps out at you, but then when your food comes, you realize that it's even better than the wall color. The broth (which is the most important part of pho IMHO) is delicious and clear as it should be. The veggies are very clean and fresh and service is friendly and attentive. The shop is nearby a bunch of other great eateries, but I'm glad we decided to go with Ha Long. There are about a dozen tables and on a Sunday afternoon, the place was full. I looked over at other peoples dishes, and the stir fry's also looked yummy. I think the prices are a little higher than some other hole-in-the-wall pho shops, but it's worth it to have lots of free parking right out front and friendly service. I can't complain and I'll be back!

This is the only Vietnamese restaurant I've ever eaten at, so I don't know if this is the best, but I loved it. Also, when I told my waitress that I was Pho-irgin, she took the time to teach me about eating it.

I would always come here for lunch with my mom. It's a convenient place to get our weekly pho fix. The staff is always welcoming and even though there is a wait, it goes by quickly. However, I ordered my usual pho combination and noticed a grasshopper in the plate with my bean sprouts. Mind you, the grasshopper was still ALIVE! I immediately notified our waitress and she quickly apologized and took the plate away. A few minutes later she returned with my plate, but it was the same exact late, with the excess water on the bean sprouts. It seemed they just washed the live bug off and gave me back the same plate. Just make sure you TRIPLE check the leaves before eating your pho!!

Discovered this place through Groupon; it was a bit hard to find because my GPS thought it was in the club before this plaza...so if you're using a GPS, keep going down Kalani St past where your GPS thinks it is, and you'll see a plaza with lots of stores and plenty of parking. Ha Long is really close to Sugoi. This is a really clean, minimalistic, and stylish place, kind of reminds me of cute restaurants in Korea. I love the peaceful green decor and the giant cutout of a bowl of pho on the wall. I ordered the pho with everything (my favorite part of pho is tripe and tendon...YUM) and I was asked if I wanted the flank on the side or in the bowl. I have never been asked that before! I'm used to it being in the bowl so I went with that, but one of my friends got his meat on the side and put it in the bowl himself to cook. The pho was good quality...and the meat was tender and excellent. I went to another pho place in Pearl City 2 days later and although that place was cheaper (compared to if I hadn't used a Groupon), the quality of the meat was just not the same. You can even get yourself a t-shirt that says "Be a Ph-natic" to show your true love for pho...my friend said they used the right !

I was informally introduced to this Pho establishment via a fellow Elite 2011 Yelper and friend, Emi H. Thanks for the recommendation. Actually, she's a regular here, so I decided to see why it's as good as it is. The restaurant was kind of off the beaten path, in a small strip mall in the heart of Kalihi. Close to my work place during the week, but did not have time to go here to try this place out. All I can say that this place is small, quaint, and full of flavor. It felt like a home, in alot of ways. Loved the decor and the friendly staff. Just a quick lunch and passing by after my twice a month blood donation. Had the combination of beef Pho and summer roll with a glass of sprite. The Pho was pretty good, a bit above average than other places. I wonder if they charge extra for extra veggies. Crunchy! Oh well. It was a good experience.

I've been here a total of 2 times and I've really enjoyed it! I love pho, and sometimes I get a mean craving for it...like last night! I always order the #9; medium, which is just the meat (on the outside) and meatballs and my BF usually gets a rice plate. The food comes out fairly quickly and it's always hot and fresh! Something good about this place is that the rice plates come with a small cup of their pho broth. My BF isn't really a big pho person, but he does like the broth! This is a smallish restaurant, that is nicely decorated and the staff are all friendly - the parking is plentiful, but the times that we have been there, it was pretty late and most of the other shops in the area were already closed.

Where the Pho!? -- Pho Heaven is at Ha Long Pho! What the Pho!? -- Crispy Yummy Spring Rolls and Five Star Pho! The cleanest and chic-est noodle house I've stepped foot in in Oahu!! I can't wait to go back to have it again. They were so busy their was a wait list... and were also asking people dining alone if they minded sharing a table with another to move the line along faster. The tastiest bowl of Pho, true story! I Long for Ha Long Pho! Pho Shoa!

My favorite place to eat pho in Kalihi/Dillingham! I always order the veggie pho (tofu, cabbage, and broccoli), but my boyfriend always orders the pho w/ rare steak (outside). They give a nice size portion of the thinly sliced rare steak so I always steal a few to put in my pho :) Make sure to order a side of sliced white onions and extra lemons and mix it in with some sri racha and chili paste! It tastes tangy and refreshing and compliments the hot pho soup!

I do not think this rating scale of stars have enough stars to state how wonderful this place is. I was severely impressed by the furnishings and the menu. It looked out of place in the Dillingham shopping place. I had the vermillion with pork and spring rolls. It was a medium sized dish and it was quite satisfying. I would highly recommend the place since the food was that good. I left a $8.00 tip and bought a cap from the place since it was that swell. I don't think any other words can describe how tasty the food is.

seriously, the best Bun i ever had. the lemongrass chicken was delicious! The portion is quite large and the sauce isn't too fishy. the noodles aren't too soft, its almost perfect. love how its so green inside. But ill definietly be back for some Bun. the service was decent, i wish they would refill my water more often, but this place does get pretty darn busy during lunch hours.

In sum, this place is the place to be for tourists if you have suffered sticker shock from the places along the Waikiki strip. For locals, this is the place to be. For those of us who are coming from the Bay Area, CA or SoCal, where dense populations of Vietnamese have already settled, this might not taste super authentic, but it will do. As usual, 5 stars and ding 1 per issue ... The portion is kind of small compared to what we are used to. This is probably due to the economics of Hawaii, but for us slightly spoiled Californians, we needed more food. For locals, I think this is enough portion size ... -1 The broth is slightly off. Not in a bad way, but missing an herb, or tasting slightly different from what we spoiled Californians deem as "proper taste." Don't get me wrong, I fricken downed the bowl clean to the last drop and shred of noodle. But it just was not as satisfying as it could have been. ... -1 But I'll admit one thing for you islanders - you have the absolute best climate in the world to grow the mints that go into Pho. The basil leaves are fricken huge, the bean sprouts are beautiful white, and the "ngo gai" mints are aromatic. These set the tone for a perfect bowl and made up for some of the slightly off-taste of the broth. +1 The rundown ... -1 for the portion size -1 for the broth taste +1 for the awesome mint quality Overall 4 stars, yeehaw! Personally, I rake the mint plate clean. You should all do the same. Don't leave behind a single bean sprout or mint leaf - you have no idea what you're missing. Mama always taught me to eat it all, every last drop. If you are looking for California taste, I would say that Pho One, which we found behind the Waikiki strip is spot on. It's pricey as $h1t, but I have a pregnant, picky, wife. I dare not say no to that. They have a huge mess of awards on the wall to back up the taste. As a side note for tourists, you need to go next door to Pho 1 to checkout Thang II, which carries massive size smoothie cups for roughly California prices at 3.50 to 4 a cup. A half size cup at the International Marketplace was 4 bucks, a total rip. Also, Thang II has all those wicked fruits we don't have, even in SoCal. If there is any place a fruit connoisseur needs to be in Hawaii before starting their road trip to the farmer's markets, Thang II is the place to be as an appetizer for you food quest. My in-laws had this one smoothie, then found the whole fruit used to make that smoothie at the farmer's market in the same plaza, and were literally downing smoothie at the same time biting into the whole fruit used to make the smoothie ... lol omg. It's like, you can't get enough ...

I've been to this place a couple times, its just an OK place for me. i had a Large Combination Pho. The flavor was just ok for me (a tad overseasoned). The serving size was plenty and priced well. Another drawback is that their satay sauce sucks.

Best pho in Hawaii. Hands down. If you like a good meat-flavored broth (not cinnamon heavy or star-anise heavy), then you will love this place. Also, you don't have that tingly mouth feeling from loads of MSG like most pho places. The portions are big (too much to finish most times). Spring rolls are great, summer rolls are a MUST! Their summer roll peanut dipping sauce is the best i've had. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Kind of a small place so feel free to call ahead for reserved seating or come before or after the lunch/dinner rush. I've been going to Ha Long for a while and I only see it getting busier and busier the more people hear about it. I always recommend Ha Long to all my friends and family and not one of them has ever been disappointed. Every person I introduce to Ha Long has told me it is their new favorite. Paul and Janice (brother and sister) are young owners, using family recipes, that really know how to pay attention to detail. Forget eating at those grungy, dirty places in Chinatown and come enjoy QUALITY pho in a very clean atmosphere. Notes: Pho does not come with onions and cilantro, so you need to ask to add them in. Also, need to ask for jalapenos. Never an extra charge for these, I think some people don't enjoy them as much so they opt to leave them out.

I dig this place. Yeah, I came to a pho place and didn't get pho. It was hot that day and I was borderline melting so I'll save this place for a rainy cool pho day. Small place but definitely some good food here. Got the eggplant tofu set (which was strangely not on the menu but saw it on their menu online and they gladly made it without any questions) - comes with a small spring roll (came out hot and fresh- like I almost burned my mouth it was so fresh.. geeze, gotta learn a little patience- perfect little appetizer tho). Tofu was a nice stir-fried texture. I love eggplant so it's hard to ruin that for me. Also came with a bowl of rice (chose brown). Sort of a lot of food so I couldn't finish it but I really, really wanted to. Service was friendly and quick. Cool place, I'll definitely be back. :)

I have eaten at quite a few Vietnamese places and by far this my favorite. It has a contemporary atmosphere whose staff is always friendly and always happy to share a smile. You'd be hard pressed to find a better deal than their combo meal. You will not be disappointed in their Pho, or any other dish on their many for that matter. I have yet to try something here that I have not liked, the watercress salad by itself is refreshing, light, and since the dressing is homemade like nothing you have tried before. If you have a hankering for something sweet their banana tapioca can't be beat! After you try it you will be a Pho-natic! Head down, give Janice and Paul a shout out and have a summer roll for me!

Good food, but just misses the mark of being really good. Started with the spring rolls. Good and crispy, not greasy. Served with one lettuce leaf (enough to wrap about half the pieces of spring roll), vermicelli, sauce. No herbs. A little fresh mint and cilantro would help and nuance. Had the BBQ pork and shrimp vermicelli. Pork was wonderful. Best thing of the meal. Sprimp was nicely grilled, but bland. Nothing else in the bowl but one lonely spring of mint on the side. No cilantro, no lettuce, nothing to add a cruch and freshness to the dish. Served with the same sauce as the spring rolls. Also had the BBQ chicken and rice. Good grilling on the chicken. Accompanied by rice and a couple of pieces of pickled carrot and daikon, and some chopped plain lettuce. Served with the same sauce as the spring rolls and the vermicelli. Guess they only have the one sauce. To me, this food should be all about contrasts - hot (spring roll) wrapped in cold (lettuce), salty and sweeet, herbs and grilled meat. It was good, just not nuanced enough. Very close though.

JOY! I want to buy PHO natic tee shirts so i can wear one a day for the rest of my life. this place is greatness in spiced beef broth! and yes it's clear! home girl here, first caught my eye when i was at DNBs and a review for it came across the screen. so i thought to myself: "wha? a shiny pho place that i don't know about?" i quickly memorized the name and yelped the bad boy. sure enough, people are eating there. no one I know, but what the hey. so finally after days of pining, i'm around the corner at best buy and say, YES!! this is my day. this place is awesome. reason #1 the staff is incredibly friendly and polite. all smiles. the menu is written with a touch of wit, which i appreciate and they have swag. PHO NATIC t-shirts! #2 the offer combos! finally! smart business people! large entree (pho, bun or rice) plus 1 spring or summer roll (because even fatties like me don't want 8 spring rolls before their large pho!) and a beverage for under $12 HELLO DEAL (EXCLAMATION POINT) NUMERO TRES their pho is one tasty bowl. they had so much meat in their bowl that even i was overwhelmed! side note, maybe they could use more tripe and they don't give jalapenos. you have to ask and a smiling staff member will zip some to you lickety split! i also asked for some more onion, to which my server said: "how much? because they charge for a side" i said no need then, and she still snuck some to my table. i wanted to take her home with me. i love this place. i want to eat everything off the menu!

Checked out Ha Long for the first time this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised. This place was pretty busy at lunch time but I was able to get a seat within about 10 minutes. The two waitresses were very friendly and attentive. We got the pho and I tried the BBQ Pork and Spring Roll Vermicelli. My vermicelli was delicious! I loved it. All the fresh vegetables at the bottom helped to make it very crunchy and refreshing. I don't generally like raw bean sprouts and totally forgot to ask for no bean sprouts...but somehow it worked very well in this salad for me. I didn't get to try the pho myself but I did try a sip of the broth. I can't say I am a big fan - from the two sips I had - the taste of cinnamon was very strong. I would definitely give this place a try again! P.S. Was a bit sad that I didn't get their signature green chopsticks - got a pair of disposable chopsticks instead.

The bf and I have come here ever since opening and I have to say this is my favorite Pho/Vietnamese restaurant on the island. When we used to live closer, we'd try to go there at least once or twice a week- it's just that good. Service here is awesome and food comes out fairly quickly. The owner, who also cooks, and even sometimes waits is super friendly and on it. The restaurant itself is modern and chic, with a fun atmosphere and menu. Don't you love when you look at a menu and it's funny and interesting to read? Portion sizes here are very generous. Spring rolls are delicious! Vermacelli with BBQ pork! Must try this. They have "combos". App, entree, drink- one price. Awesome.

Nice little pho shop in Kalihi! Ordered the combo pho bowl!! great broth, pho, veggies, and condiments especially satay sauce and ngo gai (culantro)!! Now another place I can get my pho fix instead of Cuu Long in Pearl Kai. Gotta try the other dishes such as the bahn mi, papaya salad, and com dia plates!! It wasn't that crowded last night but I can imagine the lines waiting outside when it's busy! Waitresses were friendly and helpful. thumbs up good kaukau!! kaukautime.blogspot.com

Love, love, love this place. Great food (I usually order the pho w/ fat brisket and tripe), great service, great price! I can seriously drink some water, and here the water's on the table (without asking) within seconds of sitting down and is regularly refilled without having to ask. The staff members really go out of their way to make your dining experience as pleasant as possible.

update - have tried a few more times over the past year when hunkering for this type of food at least they get my order right now and without elongated waiting, although always call ahead to order take out their noodles are very strange, much thicker than other vietnamese places, makes it weird to eat, not sure if it's just thicker noodles in general or if they overcook them by a lot much better noodles at green papaya just down the street, so I usually elect to go there instead

This place made me realize that I eat out way too much! I feel guilty everytime I come here because I know I was just here last week.. I always get number fourteen. I love ittt. Pho Tai Gan (pho with rare steak and tendon). The smallest size is as big as another pho place's LARGE.. SO BIG. O__O And it's called a size medium. I ask for the smallest size and they bring me a large. That's good service! When I came the first time, I got the combo of large PHO, SPRINGROLLS, and SODA. I thought I could handle the large because I was superrrrr hungry. It was as big as an XLARGE. Even the fat kid in me shrank back in terror. The watercress salad is good but it's "seasonal" which in Hawaii means, ALL THE TIME. :) The chicken salad is a bit too dry for my taste.. Spring rolls are good too. To keep it simple, you get a lot of bang for your buck here.

What a nice surprise to find a good pho place in the Kalihi area. The restaurant is quite small, but overall it is very clean and inviting with its modern deco. We arrived late afternoon on a weekend and it was empty, with the exception of some customers waiting on their take-out orders. I ordered the combo pho (without the tendon & tripe) and the bf had the regular beef pho. It did take a while for our food to reach our table, but I believe it was worth the wait. Everything from the veggies served on the side to the beef and the soup were very fresh and flavorful. The broth was sweeter than what I'm used to, but it was tasty (without being greasy) nonetheless. My one gripe here is the lack of bean sprouts and greens they serve with the pho. It looked like only one serving of veggies instead of two. Also, I have a serious addiction to Vietnamese satay sauce (garlic chili paste) which they do not provide here. I did see a concoction on the table which looked similar to satay sauce but it was much sweeter than the original one found in chinatown. In any case, overall I give this place 4 stars for serving up pretty good pho for this part of town, along with the attentive service and cleanliness.

Recently I've become a Pho-natic! I seriously went through a phase where I came here twice in the same week, yep I think I created a pho-monster in me. I've never heard of this place until my boss brought me here and I was surprised because I grew up in Kalihi and I always came this way for Sugois or Young's Fish Market, how could I have missed this place especially if its right next door to Sugoi's? Maybe it just wasn't ready for me... well I am glad that faith brought us together! Walking in I had no idea it would be so clean and its no the biggest place but its so comfortable and it it feels like your eating at home. The staff are very friendly and prompt with our orders. We got serviced really quickly and I ordered my favorite the small rare beef pho. My mouth is slivering right now thinking about it, they give you your regular veggies and when the pho comes I was so happy that I had more than enough beef! I love meat and they are so generous with it, after eating all my noodles I found that there were more hiding in my soup. I will definitely go here for my pho cravings and also they do have a pho set, 1 spring roll, choice of a large pho and a drink for under $12! This place is as good as it gets! #Yelp 365 Challenge: 007/365

We were walking around the shopping center, checking out the different eateries. My girlfriend suggested Ha Long Pho Noodle House. I was undecided at first, but then I figured why not try someplace different. It was a good decision. My girlfriend had barbque pork and shrimp plate. I had the beef pho. It was very good. I had a tatste of my girlfriends pork and it was winners. Good attentive service. Prices are resonable. We'll check it out again.

#02/365 Another meal I eat once a week pho-sho-do. I ventured down to Ha Long after reading Ryan C.'s review on how pho-king awesome this place was. Me, being the pho-pro (at least I like to think so), had to go down and check it out. Located in Kaleeeeheee I was utterly surprised by the decor once we entered the restaurant. You mean no bad jazz music or vietnamese music? This place is swanky...It was a good feeling to walk into to a pimped out pho place. Now, will it deliver..... I always order the Pho Tai(rare steak) at every pho restaurant. You like that? I bet you didn't know the vietnamese version! So I judge pho based on three things: 1) the broth, 2) the noodles and 3) the amount the meat in the bowl. Me, being a carnivore, I was blown away by the amount of meat that came in my bowl. By the time I had finished eating all my noodles, there was still meat in my bowl. WTF! That never happens! But, what an awesome feeling. Other places can be stingy with the meat. Don't be greedy! The seating is very clean and the staff is very friendly. They offer plastic chops sticks, but I always go for the wood as I find it easier to grip the slipper noodles. I will continue to make this place one of my top 3 pho places. Its pho-tastic and I don't pho around. Pho-real!! Outtie like reversed belly buttons!

After hearing good stuff about Ha Long from friends, I decided to try it one night with a friend. We arrived at Ha Long at about 6:30ish, and to our surprise there was a line. We put in our reservation and waited about 15 minutes. I ordered the noodle soup, with the rare steak inside, and summer rolls. I loved it! It was oh so good, the only thing I was disappointed about was the fact that they didn't have any mint leaves to put in my pho. This place is small, so it can get crowded very quickly.

Walk in and boom: green, clean, and different are what come to mind when compared to other vietnamese restaurants in and around Honolulu. They really went to town with the green motif, but it's kinda charming. The stock broth that they use for the pho was delicious and I couldn't taste any MSG in there. Ended up mixing the sriracha and hoisen separately and just dipped noodles or beef into it so I could savor the unadulterated broth. Last, but not least, the waitress was super friendly and attentive. It's in Kalihi close to Costo, so you know I'll be hitting it up again after shopping.

Pho Tai Nam- 3 1/2-stars- Eye-round steak and well-done flank. I always enjoy the flank with the mix of fat and other flavors, it always gives a really good addition to the soup. The broth was light, beefy and delicious. And yes, the thin-sliced steak was served on a plate on the side--they do ask you. I've seen people complain about restaurants that do not do this. As usual, I add the optional lemon, basil, and soy beans. My guest said it looked like a vegetable soup now. I always enjoy the chili oil paste, but I've never found out just what it was. Once ready, I started to eat. Overall it was very good. The flavors blended nicely. Atmosphere- Being next to Kalihi I didn't expect the place to look so trendy. The raised lettering on the walls was nice. And they had the same decor in the windows. There is also a tank with angels that fight from time to time. I do like the fact they dressed up the restaurant to give it life. The clientele was a mixture of older groups and young thuggish guys who gave nasty looks to my guest. But as I said, they are next to... Service- This is the third restaurant I've gone to where a waitress/waiter was being trained. We were next to the kitchen, but didn't get too much check-ins. This might be because my guest knew the owners. Conclusion- With the food good and the decor artistic, the place gets extra stars. The service was not memorable. Because of the location, I don't know if I could or would go there again any time soon. It is definitely a place to show your friends, just look out for good parking!

Once you go Pho, you'll never go back:) My name is Mhia and I'm a Pho-natic! This is a go to place to get Pho. It definitely is pho-licious! The broth, noodles, meat, vegetables are pho-tastic! Also order their Spring rolls... it's bomb dot com. I love the ambiance of this place! It's a bit small but very cozy! I love places that have comfortable seats, especially if you'll be dining in for a long time. This place is definitely it! The staffs are also very friendly. Everytime i come here, they really make you feel welcome! It's such a comfortable setting to be at. You can come in groups, pairs or by yourself. The service is always great! ***Yelp Challenge 13/365

I know Pho (fuh) is pretty similar wherever you go, but Ha Long Noodle House is a step above the rest. The ambiance, pricing, and especially the food is pho-king awesome (a soup noodle pun!). First off, the restaurant itself. It's different. Words describing the bowl of noodles you will be consuming in a few moments are mounted up on the wall, telling you about the "yum-in-your-tum" to come. The atmosphere is very modern and the colors are inviting. The little touches for the environment really go a long way. Then they give you their menu. The pricing is very fair for the amount and they even have two sizes of soup for those of us who have smaller bellies (me more and more) and those of us who have bigger tummies (me in the past!). Just to be different, the pages are circles attached to a key ring. If you've never had pho before the menu provides instructions on how to eat it...in pidgin! Hah! So I learned what I already knew. But da langedge wuz la dis brah! (wow that was terrible!) Pho is eaten how you want it. I'm all about customization and if food lets me do it then I am so for it! So I order the bowl of noodles with a little bit o everything. The coolest part of the whole experience was the rare steak coming to me raw on a little plate. The soup actually cooks the noodles and love the whole interactive experience you get when you eat a really good bowl of Pho. I get to put the right amount of bean sprouts (for me a lot), thai basil (also a lot), and jalapenos (not so much for me). Then I throw in the rare steak and let the hot soup cook it. Next, I put hoisin, sriracha, and garlic chili sauce in the little dish they give you and put a little bit on my spoon with some noodles, sprouts, meat, and some broth and start the enjoyment!! So good! Given the price of a bowl under $10, the great atmosphere, and the AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME bowl of pho that they serve, Ha Long is really worthy of multiple trips. Disappointed you will be not. What?! Just go, you'll love it.

Excuse me...Ha Long Pho Noodles? I really hungry and need to eat really soon. Seriously, what the Pho? That's the best joke I could come up for the day. I know it's really pathetic. Ha Long Pho Noodle House wins the award of nicest and most contemporary Pho place on the island. You would think that the requirement for a good Pho is to have a run-down hole in the wall looking place and conveniently placed next to a Nail Salon. I leared otherwise after visiting this place. I do think there was a Nail Salon right next door though....coincidence? Again, first thing you'll notice is the nice atmosphere inside. I almost thought I was in a lounge. Not to surprise anyone, but I ended up having Pho here. I had the Pho w/ the thinly sliced beef and plethora of fresh basil and other veggies. The Pho was surprisingly delicious. The meats and the vegetables seemed very fresh and robust in taste. Service was just so-so. Price was on the reasonable side and comparable to other Pho places in town. Overall, great place to come for lunch to have a bowl of Pho.

Ha Long is one of my go-to places for vermicelli bowls and rice plates on the island. Now, I've had some really, really good Vietnamese as I have family in Houston and did two years of college in San Diego with one of my best friends being Vietnamese. Ha Long is definitely comparable. Ha Long is definitely not your average Chinatown pho joint. No need to worry about roaches or sketchy kitchens here! The dining area itself is cozy and clean - the interior itself is modern which makes Ha Long a perfect place to not only eat with your family but also your friends. Their menu is simple and doesn't bombard you with a lot of confusing menu items - pho is one one page, rice plates on another, drinks on the next, and so forth. What I like is that you can make any of your plates a meal for an additional charge. Meal meaning, your choice of beverage + a spring roll (fried) or summer roll (fresh). On top of that, if you dine in, your vermicelli bowl or rice plate comes with a cup of their AMAZING pho broth. I pretty much order the same thing whenever I go: a shrimp vermicelli bowl, or a lemongrass chicken rice plate with brown or white rice - upgraded to a meal with jasmine iced tea and summer roll. Of all the times I've dined here, I've never left Ha Long with a disappointed stomach.

I have no idea why I never left a review for this place yet, so this is VERY overdue! Stopped by here for lunch after we met with a potential florist vendor for our wedding since the shop is close by. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. I opted in for their regular rare steak pho. Their broth is so yummy and the noodles are cooked to perfection. It's pretty rare where I would drink most, if not all of the soup but I sure did that here. Customer service was perfect, they always came to refill our waters and checked up on how we were doing. Lots of free parking in the front, if you're lucky, you score one right in front of the place. If not, it's always not too far of a walk anyways. The only thing I didn't like was their booth seats. You literally sit next right next to someone.

Tonight we walked right in and had a seat anywhere that was available. We sat down and the staff quickly set us up with place settings, a menu, and water. They were very efficient. We took some time peering over the menu and were given adequate time to place our order. They always made sure our glasses of water were filled and that we had everything we needed. The summer rolls and spring rolls were so delicious. Even my child ate 2 spring rolls and enjoyed everything that we put in front of him. The pho Tai was love in a bowl. I ordered the large and it was way too much for me! The broth is what makes the pho stand out and this one was tasty and flavorful. The shrimp and steak plate was pretty decent. I enjoyed the thin cuts of barbecue steak. Was a little dry but yummy good. The shrimp was grilled and tasted alright. Husband mentioned that he'd order it again. Another bonus to eating here as a Yelper, was getting 10% off of $20.00 when I checked in. So $2.00 off, not bad at all. What a sweet bonus for just being a Yelper. Woo-hoo! I'll be back!

Why haven't I come here before? I really enjoyed this pho... I choose my favorite pho on two things... The taste of the broth and the freshness of their veggies. And this place got two thumbs up! Sometimes when the bring out the veggies, some of the basil leaves have lines and have a few wilted spots on them. This place, surprisingly looks like they just cut it off the plant. Super fresh! Or..... I was lucky to get the good batch haha The broth....... Yummmmmmm!!!!!That's all I have to say. Service was top notch, the restaurant was clean and the decor.... Beautiful! Parking.... Depends what time you come. Luckily I found parking right in front. Because this place has so many different shops, bakeries, restaurants and businesses, it can get a little a little crowded in the parking lot. But..... It's worth hunting for a spot to eat here. I will definitely come back to this place when I'm in the mood for some pho!!

This pho restaurant has got to be my regular spot to go to whenever I'm craving for pho or usually when I'm feeling under the weather, nothing like a bowl of soup can help cure sickness. Even better that it's less than 10 minutes away from home that it makes this location convenient for me to go to. I always either get the chicken pho or the seafood pho depending what I'm feeling in the mood for that day and add on spring rolls and summer rolls appetizers to share with whoever I'm with. The food is always on point whenever I come here and service is attentive and friendly. The broth is really good and the regular size portion bowl is quite filling. The interior design and decor is bright and welcoming. Their menu is appealing as well, not your usual large folded menu but comes in a circular menu of their items you can flip through. I've never had a problem with the wait here, we usually get a seat when we arrive there. The prices are average like any other pho places so the service and location keeps me coming back.

Delicious, delicious, delicious, delicious! Have only been here once, but I'll definitely go back! When you order the pho and your bowl is presented to you, you think, "that's it?!" but after you start eating..you realize that your eyes did indeed fool you, because their bowl is actually quite filling. The restaurant is kind of tiny, so I'm sure there's usually a wait. But when my friend and I went, there wasn't one. Which was great, because we were starvingggg. It's a cute Pho restaurant that serves yummy food, though. Go give it a try!

The food here is pretty good. I ordered a large rare steak pho ($9.99) and they definitely don't skimp on the portions. I skipped breakfast this morning so I was starving by lunch, and this satisfied that hunger. The service wasn't anything to rave about, standard but friendly. The ambiance isn't necessarily the prettiest, with lime green walls and plastic-covered tables (those damn sticky, suffocating, plastic protectors!) but Ha Long gets the job done. Parking here at lunchtime is a madhouse and you have to practice your patience skills. Stalls are tight but luckily I escaped without a door ding. Plus points for being open late night too (9-ish).

This is a very good friends pho restaurant, has been asking me to eat here for a while and finally made it here. This place is clean organized and very modern looking! service is great as there are always staff who are offering to fill your water or checking on you. This outing, I Ordered the large combination pho. The pho has good smooth broth and fresh veggies!!! Thin slices meat very red and fresh! Spring rolls are a good compliment with pho or order summer rolls! Will be back soon!!!

Came for an early dinner before taking the munchkins to CEC at the other end of this shopping center. Had the pho since its in their name. I always get a combination wherever I go. I was disappointed. I always take a sip of my broth first as that is what makes or breaks a pho. It was on the blander side of the taste spectrum. The broth itself lacked that umami savory character. It also seemed like they expected the broth to cook the noodles. The noodles were undercooked and stuck in a clump on the bottom of the bowl. That made them not very palatable. Usually it's parboiled then the heat from the broth will finish off the cooking needed for the noodles to become tender. This is a small place with a casual atmosphere. It was clean. The wait staff were friendly and the food came out hot. The meats in my pho were cooked right. I also had a thai tea. That was so so. It had that thai tea flavor, just needed a little more sweetness and evaporated milk.

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and there was only one other family eating. I got a medium number 5 which is beef balls and iced coffee with condensed milk. I ALWAYS get this little combo when I eat pho. Let me start with the cons, the pho was just eh. Not much taste, nothing amazing. It was a bowl of light flavored broth and noodles with meat balls. Literally. The mint and lemon didn't help. Maybe I should have put sauces. Maybe I should just stick with pho places I know I like. Next the coffee, which was probably worse. I love vietnamese coffee. Not entirely sure what's in there but I enjoy how strong it is and all that condensed milk. Their coffee was so bland. No sweetness. Just compared to other places, this was plain gross. My boyfriend who is vietnamese even said the pho was gross. On the bright side their restaurant is cute and their staff is friendly but that's about it.

It's Good. I hadn't been here in a long time so I forgot what it was like...almost trying it like the first time! Mind you, for this occasion, I bought take out, but I'm guessing my comments would be the same in the restaurant. First off, their service is friendly. This is always a plus and often hard to find. However, I found the Pho soup/broth to be a bit thin and seemingly watery or lacking taste. Kind of a bummer. The rare steak was tender, but the beef balls also lacked seasoning. I also ordered the BBQ pork and spring roll Bun. The pork was extremely tasteful and really made the dish. The spring rolls were "eh" and the sauce was, again, not tasty. Both the noodles for the Pho and Bun were a bit thick for me. I prefer thin and wide noodles, but this is hard to find in Honolulu. All in all, the food was okay, yet does not warrant a repeat trip despite the pleasant and friendly service.

This was my first time and I was very pleased. Brought two friends and everyone enjoyed their meals. We tried the Pho of course, summer rolls and BBQ chicken on vermicelli. The ingredients were fresh, the pho soup delicious, the summer rolls perfect and the sauces a wonderful addition for extra flavor. The staff quickly honored my 10% yelp discount without question. The portion sizes we generous and the restaurant decor creative and calming. Clean restaurant and utensils too. We'll be back for sure! I found a treasure in Kalihi!

I've been to this place on two separate occasions, and both times, my food was disappointing. I don't feel that they put much effort or pride into their food. There are SO many better places to go for Vietnamese food, and many are less than a mile away. While this place isn't horrendously bad, it surely doesn't deserve rave reviews.

This is a nice little & clean pho restraunt ! The parking is good since its in dillingham & you can park anywhere in the parking lot. The pho here, for me, is just alright thought. Nothing special about it. I've eaten a good amount of pho at different places & I would only come here if I was in the area & didn't feel like driving anywhere else. The broth needs more flavor. They give a good amount of meat & noodles. The veggies are fresh! Not a bad place but not great either.

I love the fact that they actually remember me from the last visit! Makes me feel more than a $$. Their food is a perfect balance of salty, sweet: perfection. Half the time, I never know what to order but I always know that whatever I do, will taste great. Restaurant is small, but I prefer it to be to keep the noise levels down.

Although I like Pho, my true preference in noodle soups is Chinese Wor Gau Gee Mien. My wife, however, was a "pho'natic" so she would drag me all over for these delicious meals. Since I stopped in at Ha Long last summer and enjoyed their green papaya salad, I thought I would sample their pho yesterday. I am glad I did. I just might become a "pho'natic" myself. First of all they have a cool logo (yes, I know, you can't eat logos but it adds a touch of ambiance to the little restaurant and it shows the owners take a lot of pride in their work). Their logo is a Pho bowl with a dragon peering over the edge. Their attractive website tells us "Ha Long" means "descending dragon" and it is the name of a bay in northern Vietnam. From their website you can also download their menu. Well, so much for ambiance, how's the food? Really good! They have the usual beef pho entrees plus plain, chicken and seafood pho. For the vegetarian minded, they have a vegetable pho and a tofu pho. There's also summer and spring rolls, salads, vermicelli and rice plates. I ordered the beef combo pho (rare steak, beef ball, brisket, tendon and tripe). Wasn't at all disappointed! First of all it came to my table steaming hot (this is a must for me). The soup had the flavor of a beef consommé (not like bland dish water I've had in some unmentionable places). The meats were all tender and fresh (not rubbery which is a sign of overcooked beef). But I must mention that Ha Long is a bit skimpy on the garnishes. My plate contained only basil, bean sprouts and a lemon wedge. No peppers! I should have a slice of jalapeno (I know .. so North American) or a few chilies (more true Asian style), but I got none. Sad. Minus a star Ha Long (but I still love your place!). Likewise no cilantro. I love this flavor in my soup. The restaurant has seats for about 20. Ha Long is located at the far end of the shopping center. The City Square parking lot is spacious but fills quickly. If there are no spaces around the restaurant, it's better to look in the middle of the lot and wait there for a space to open up. And remember you are in the middle of a busy shopping and industrial area, so there restaurants fill quickly around noon. It's better to plan your meal a little earlier or later than the noon hour if possible. But all in all it was a very enjoyable lunch. Service was prompt and friendly. Everything inside is nice and clean. My soup was brought out in five minutes and the water glass was filled without my asking. But I'm saving the best for last. If you like coffee, you must try their Vietnamese Filtered Coffee. It's to die for! This is rich dark roasted coffee mixed with sweet condensed milk and served on ice. If you've eaten your pho spiced up with chili condiments, then the sweetness of the milk will cool your mouth, and the richness of the coffee will give you a caffeine high that will keep you smiling all afternoon. I'm certainly returning to Ha Long. Hope to see you there!

Their salted lemonade is amazing! I daydream about it all the time (seriously! It's like a lemon peel, in a drink... But slightly sweet?? Very hard to explain. Just order one!). The staff is always friendly, but the dining area is pretty small so depending on when you go you may have to wait awhile. But it's totally worth it! Their food is delicious!

I wouldn't go so far to say that I'm a Pho connoisseur but, as far as this place goes, their pho is just slightly above mediocre. The broth was flavorful but the noodles were thicker than what I've become accustomed to from other local, Mainland and South Asia Vietnamnese restaurants. The medium size combination bowl had plenty of noodles to fill you but the meat portions were meager (1/2 meatball, a couple slices of brisket, 2 "strands" of tripe and 1 slice of beef tendon). Even the vegetable/herb accompaniment seemed a bit sparse. Other dishes we tried were: - Spring Rolls. The Spring rolls were okay and were truly meant as appetizers. These rolls seemed a bit thin or about the size of a 40 ring cigar (about 5/8" diameter) and cut into 6 x 3" pieces. - Watercress-tofu-beef salad. Refreshing and quite delicious. Although, I think there was too much dressing. The salad was "drowning" in sesame seed oil vinaigrette and we felt like you had to eat it fast so that the lettuce and tomato slices wouldn't wilt from the pool of dressing. Just another thought, it was served on a chipped plate, which dampened some class of this establishment. The place has good food and is clean, chic and small (about 8 tables) which can account for people having to wait in lines when busy. However, we didn't appreciate the indiscretion of the owner who allowed his friends or regular customers to be seated ahead of those who had signed in before they did. Why have a sign-in sheet? It defeats the fairness of a sign-in sheet.

I'm pretty biased for the simple fact that I get the same thing every single time I eat here. I stick to the basics, I come here for the Pho and I get amazing PHO! My Pho choice is Tofu, and I gotta say it's the best that I have tasted on the island. Spring rolls here are amazing I love the taste, completely amazing the issue is that sometimes they get skimpy with the sauce and the lettuce. Thai Tea is super yummy but way too expensive. Excellent customer service every single time I have eater here. They also give yelpers 10% off. WINNING If you want bomb tasting tofu pho, and you want excellent but quick service this is the place to go!

Good quality pho.... friendly service... effort was put into the decor... average pho pricing. The only thing I did not like was the plastic table cloth on the table... it's kinda long and can touch your legs if you are wearing shorts.... it just feels kinda bad.... if the plastic table covering was shorter.... it would not bother me. The food and service were great... I will be back sometime. I did receive 10% off the bill for checking in to Yelp... that was cool. If you like pho you will probably like this place.

The broth here is very good and the service was friendly. Not only was the staff great, the customers were amazing as we shared a few short conversations. It's very clean inside and the ambiance is welcoming. We started with the Summer Rolls which was refreshing. The Combo Pho was savory and the banana tapioca dessert topped off the entire meal.

Ha Long is situated next to the well-known Sugoi's off of Dillingham. Having passed it by so many times, we decided to finally give it a shot on a hungry night. In a sea of pho places in Hawaii, Ha Long manages to stick out in the top five for me, for a couple of reasons. The place is clean and modern. Like, CLEAN clean. The green motif of the restaurant is augmented with fancy text cutouts and a large black logo on the wall. The freaking menu is circular. It's like someone took the idea of an old school pho shop and made it fit for a modern city. And then dropped it in lower Kalihi. There are only 8 or 9 tables, but there seems to always be a seat available. The staff is courteous and quick, and the pho is consistently great. A nice touch to the menu is the option to get a little combo meal that includes the normal sized pho, along with one summer roll and a soft drink, for only a couple bucks more than the pho by itself. It's a perfectly sized meal for about ten bucks. The broth here is light and flavorful, something between Hale Vietnam and Pho Thinh. The portions are standard, and all types of beef (rare steak, brisket, flank) and cow parts (tendon, tripe) are of good quality, and presented nicely. Personally, I really enjoy Ha Long because it's five minutes from my house and it's damn good. I'd still say that I prefer the flavor of Hale Vietnam and Pho One, but Ha Long is a contender.

Pho. Reminiscent of cold, rainy nights in Washington. If there was one dish that encompassed all that was Washington to me, this was it. After snowboarding trips, road trips, Long weeks, or just another rainy day..the warm broth always brought me comfort (and sooo cheap!!!!) Though the setting wasn't quite the same, it was nice to go back in time, and props to Ha Long for making it happen. The familiar raw meat that you swish around in the bowl, cooking it by the time you get your cilantro and bean sprouts in there, and some added meatballs in there too. Hoisin sauce! Every time I eat pho, I eat it with such a zest and ravenous hunger, like nothing can get me down. Barely coming up for air. As it should be. With my bowl empty, all was right in the world again. It is so true that eating is an emotional experience. And eating pho is one of my most favorite experiences, because it usually goes like this... Eyes on bowl. Let the steam from the broth envelope your face. throw ingredients in. slurp grind slurp grind x 7..breathe. continue. It can be a table of two, it can be a table of ten, when the pho arrives at the table, its all business and everyone knows what to do. No talking. And true to what Stephanie I said, I appreciated that there wasn't that MSG feeling in my mouth afterwards. It was a return to the old in a new chapter...nostalgia at its finest. My first official bowl of pho in Hawaii ever! I'm a girl and I am sold on how cute the decor and the menus and everything is! Not the typical pho place, if you know what I mean. Cute atmosphere, not too crowded on a weeknight, friendly, attentive service, and just plain, good food! Yes, Ha Long noodle house, you can be my choice to continue the Pho Chronicles...

I always love coming here. Everytime I crave for pho, this is the place I always go to. Their service is always pleasant. The decor is really cute and always clean! I love the interior. The broth is really light but flavorful compared to other pho places that I've been to. The portions and prices are decent. A bowl of pho always comes with a lot of meat and enough noodles which always leaves me satisfied. I always end up ordering a combo pho even if I always plan prior to going there to order something other than pho! With that being said, however, I've tasted other food (thanks to my friends). Their spring rolls always come out crispy and portions are enough to avoid filling you up before you're ready for the entree. Their chicken salad is really good! Its dressing is light but (again) flavorful. BTW, pho is always good when you're hungover ;)

my FAVORITE place to get pho. the broth is so delicious and they always give plenty of bean sprouts and leaves to put in. Plus the people who work there are really nice:) I've tried other places and Ha Long is still my favorite by far.

The hole in the wall restaurant scenario is a risky business. walking through this kalihi shopping center one wouldn't suspect to find quality so close to a charles e. cheese, but alas there it is. the key to this diamond in the rough is the freshness of the ingredients. the bag of vegetation that accompanies your order of pho is aromatic and exciting to inhale as you prepare to eat this simple and classic vietnamese dish. for my money it doesn't get better than fatty brisket and raw steak but the fried rice as well as the lemon grass chicken are delightful temptations if soup is not your current obsession. its a small and intimate environment with echoes of slurps and faces of illustrated contentment amidst the soothing green walls. the art on the walls and confused sizes of letters gives it a modern feel. its got the soul of a local business that defines its uniqueness among the plethora of other options by, for lack of a better term, keeping it real, and i can appreciate that.

Dude, this was same damn good Pho. Good portions, good flavor. A little small, but service was good and speedy. When I requested Jalapeno peppers, they were very accommodating, but I wondered why it wasnt on the plate to begin with... but the vegetable serving was very big. Lots of basil and bean sprouts!

we love pho and we are from san diego! we have this weekly cravings. so we seek yelp, the place is pretty small but clean, and few tables. weve been greated and got table, ordered combination meat, tendon (the works) fresh spring roll, eggroll and fried rice. the food serve fast. they serve eggrolls first with lettuce. it was 3 rolls cut into half! 2 thin fresh spring roll with peanut sauce on the side. fried rice is good for 2 person but the pho is good no question about about it. the meat, the vegi are fine. overall the food is good. it was just too small in servings and abit pricey on my opinion.

A very clean and modern PHO-ing place! It's small around 8-10 tables, but they offer an extensive menu. All I really want is PHO! Very tasty and clear broth, and they offer lots of sides to add to your Pho, which is also a plus for me. Hot day, cold day, ill, well....when you are craving PHO seek the Phonatics. The staff was also friendly and very on top of things...water was always refilled.

I'll admit. I'm not a PHO-natic of this place because I haven't had the PHO-tastic pho here...yet. However, I do think this place is Vermi-cellent! I tried... Anyway, I've been here twice and both times, I've eaten the BBQ pork and spring roll vermicelli. Talk about a refreshing dish. The ingredients are so fresh and tasty, and the dish is filling. What more can you ask for?! The bbq pork is cooked perfectly and have enough taste to compliment the spring rolls. The spring rolls are also perfectly cooked and crispy. The place is small, but the turnover is pretty fast. The service is also very friendly and easy going. I will definitely go back and some day try the pho...gotta get over the vermicelli first. This is the first "pho" place that I don't ALWAYS order pho at...go figure. 5 stars of awesomeness!

Broth Broth Broth. Pho judged by its Broth, Well, for me it is Rest of the ingredients are generally the same. A must on those chilly rainy nights. Kinda small place but hey, rubbing elbows for good food? What the heck!

Nice clean place with modern decor, decent quality food, good service and easy parking. I had the bun with pork and egg roll...decent but didn't care too much for the egg roll. Prices seem inline for the area...and afterwards, you can go next door to thang for boba tea or smoothie.

Im a PHOnatic! Are you? :-) I absolutely love this place. I always get the pho with meatballs and steak or the vermacelli (spelling?) with spring rolls and pork. They always fill me up. I'm kinda sad that they raised their prices (hence the drop of one star), but hey...times are hard. Another plus, is this place is CLEAN. You don't have the urge to spray sanitizer all over the place like how you would in other pho places. Also I like the decor. The service is fast and I can understand what the waiters and cashiers are saying :-)

A friend introduced me to Ha Long and it has become my favorite Pho house in Honolulu. I'll make the drive from Waikiki. The broth is fresh, clear and flavorful. The noodles, veggies and meat are also fresh and plentiful. The salads are great. They make my favorite Green Papaya salad, too. Yum. The staff is gracious and helpful. It's really a class act.

Found in the little shopping center where the DMV is off Dillingham. Near/around Sugoi. You can't miss them, they have awesome windows with words written on them. (turns out they are stencils that hang behind the glass) The rating is based on a feeling this place give me, if that's possible. It's a modern-fresh feeling. The walls are green with scrapbooker-style words like "lemon" and "basil". The lady, who I think is the owner, was super nice to us. Though I think she was suspicious as to why I taking pictures of everything. "Why the pictures?" she asked, "...I take pictures of all the food I eat" (which is true, hence the 200+ photos) She joke, something about publicity, I said "no", I doubt that this little review would be considered "publicity". Then again... They have round menus & bright green chopsticks. She offered us wooden ones, because she said that it might be hard to eat with the green plastic ones. (wet noodles and plastic chopsticks = tough times) My sibling took the wooden ones, and because I'm a fashion major. I went with the fashion before function way. Hell yeah Green chopsticks! Which isn't as hard as I though it would be. Their soup spoons have little hooks on the end so they don't sink into your bowl....oooOOOoo! We got (pictured): Chicken Salad 6.95 - which was really good, and refreshing Medium Pho 7.49 Combo meal: Large Pho with your choice of a spring roll or summer roll, and a soft drink (in a can) 11.95 First pho place ever to offer a combo meal in my book. Prices range from $6-8 for appetizers, Med pho $7.49 and Large pho $8.49. Vermicelli $8-11, and rice plates $8-10. The cutest thing is their fish tank with the words "I love phonatics" in it. Also, everyone that stop by to do take-outs must have been a regular. They laughed, joked, spoke about the insane weather we're having, if they weren't then it sure look like they were friends. It just gave off a very "home" like atmosphere. Though prices can't beat C-towns one, the service, smiles, and awesome decor is worth it. *Note: Hello owner of the ha long pho noodle shop - if you are reading this please do not be angry that I did a little review about your place...I really do think it's cute, and think everyone should try it once. Green Chopsticks Pho-Sho! holla!

This place is awesome although the space is tidy. I am a pho-natic especially when I'm feeling sick or down or hung over... Best appearance yet! Love the signage and the ambiance...The boys are observant and fast at service... Best time to go...week night before closing.

Great pho and service! I loved the ambience with the green walls and modern artistic touch. Sure, there was a little bit of a wait. There was a small wait list posted on the door. But no sweat... (yet) we were seated promptly, and the food came out quickly. It's worth the wait. The summer rolls were very good, I loved how they serve it with a gigantic bowl of that plum/peanut sauce!! The pho comes in two sizes, and I had the smaller size which was more than enough. I ordered the rare steak pho, and they give you the option of having the rare steak inside or outside of the soup on a side plate. (I ordered it with the steak inside, because I don't like to see my raw beef slices... if you order the meat inside of the soup, the meat will be cooked by the time it gets to you). The pho came with generous portions of fresh basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos on request. Broth came nice and hot - so hot that my friend was literally pouring sweat and had to ask for an extra napkin... It totally hit the spot on that nice rainy day.

After hating on pho for all these years, i went to this place because some friends and I had a really long night out the night before and they were really in desperate need for some good ol pho. I reluctantly agreed to go and i was originally going to order some chicken fried rice and some egg rolls. However, i've been told that pho cures all ailments caused by serious binge drinking; therefore the pho was ordered. I ended up ordering the large bowl of pho with lean brisket and thinly sliced steak. We also ordered a plate of summer and spring rolls; both came out quickly and were delicious. Spring rolls were fried to perfection and the summer roll was neatly wrapped and provided a crisp, cool contrast to their counterparts. Then came the bowl of pho.....DELICIOUS! Sooooo good that I've been here 5 times in the past month. Ok...fine...i'm officially a "pho-natic!" Next time your in the mood for pho, try this place. Very, very clean inside, plus the staff makes you feel like family. And yes...the rumors are true. Pho does cure all ailments caused by drinking.

Great value... Free parking in the banal shopping center. It is a small place with only 9 tables. Average shopping center restaurant decor. It was busy with people waiting outside during the whole time we were dining so there was some moral pressure to eat quickly. The service provided by young girls was quick & friendly. The owners were present ensuring everything was running smoothly. The food was the star attraction here. It was very flavorful & the portions were generous. We ordered a green papaya salad & barbecued chicken plate. There was so much food we took 1/2 of the barbecued chicken plate home. One of the best restaurant values in Honolulu.

I was introduced to Ha Long by my friend Stephanie in my attempt to find the best pho on the island. I was skeptical but she insisted that it's THE BEST! So, we went one night for dinner and it was AWESOME! The broth is so flavorful and portions are generous. They give tons of meat and my favorite is the fat brisket and round eye steak(outside). They're super nice about giving you extra onions and Chinese parsley if you request it. AND not only their pho is awesome they have really good salads, summer rolls and pork chops! The watercress and tofu salad is a good one. It comes with an Asian-type vinaigrette and cooked slices of the round eye steak. AMAZING! Lunch time is pretty busy. Dinner not that bad. But there is lots of parking in that shopping plaza so no worries! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

The pho is delicious. The medium is very filling. I've tried the spring rolls and summer rolls, and it's pretty good. The thai tea with condensed milk is good too! The service is always good. I've never had a bad experience here. The downside is the size of this restaurant. It's pretty small so theres always a waiting list during dinner time. But that doesn't stop me from coming here.

Well what can I say I am a "pho-natic" my parents introduced me to this place and I must say while I thought it was pretty trendy their food is even better. It truly is good old fashioned comfort food here, there is nothing a hot bowl of pho can't cure. Hangover? Pho. Girlfriend dumped you? Pho. Got fired from work? Pho, although I think you should be saving your money. Anyways, with great food and great service this place can't be beat. No wonder my parents like this place they have good taste and I can see it.

i have made up my mind... my goal in the next few months is to scope out pho eateries around different areas of the island JUST to satisfy my sudden pho cravings (wherever it hits)... located in city square by the dmv, ha long pho offers up some pretty delicious pho. you say, whaaaat??? pho in kalihi? damn straight. the broth is wonderfully aromatic and tasty; add a kick with some chili oil and some sweetness with hoisin sauce, and you're all set. their portions are perfect for my appetite; order the combo which comes with 1 spring roll, a choice of 1 large sized pho, and 1 drink, all for about $12. i ordered the brisket and tendon pho, and man! it was a piping hot, huge heap of meaty goodness...mmm. the interior is sooo cute! we had good service too... we were there in the "off hours", aka after lunch and before the dinner rush. lots of parking...

I really enjoyed this place! It is such a cutesy, trendy little pho place, which makes it very unique. Probably the best ambiance I have experienced in a Pho restaurant. I ordered the Pho with rare beef slices on the side. The meat quality of the beef was actually really good! I ordered this in a combo that came with one summer roll on the side and Jasmine tea. The portion of the Pho was very large....I could not finish the whole bowl! The combo was $11 and some change.....definitely well worth it!

In a town with dozens of Pho restaurants this little gem in Kalihi at City Square may be overlooked in favor of the many you'll find in Chinatown and that would be a shame. From the food to the decor Ha Long is a quaint little place but with a big heart. Menu runs the gamut of the variety of Pho including beef, chicken, seafood or tofu. For the beef you can customize it with any cuts of beef you wish (beef balls, steak, tendon, etc, etc). Other menu items include rice plate, vermicelli dishes, salads and spring or summer rolls. All in all they provide great value if you're in the mood for Vietnamese. Highly recommended if you live or work in the Kalihi area and are wanting Vietnamese.

First time I came here was with my mom and my bro, the place is very small so there is a wait if you come around lunch time they r very busy as for the food their meal combo is the way to go, they gave a very good portion tho my mom can't chew her meat lol it's a lil rubbery for her I guess but since I have strong teeth I can chew just fine hahaha

I've seen this place heading to Sugoi's and finally decided to try it today. It was really yummy! I'm not eating carbs so it was hard not to eat the Pho. I managed to order the BBQ Chix Bun with no Bun! lol I'm serious! No vermicelli noodles for me! The veggies and bbq chix served me well! My boyfriend had the Pho with the meatballs. Janice who's the owner of Ha Long has a great sense of style when it came to decorating her noodle shop. This place isn't like any Pho restaurant I've seen here in Hawaii. Decorated with green and black walls with the names of different ingredients in white letters. Even her chopsticks were green and little sauce dishes. I loved it! To top our DELISH lunch we had the banana tapioca for dessert. OMG it was cool and refreshing and Oh-so-yummy! She told me it non-fat and zero carbs too! JK I couldn't resist it! We are definitely going back for more!

I've always been a CUU LONG (pearl city) loyal customer, but when they were unexpectedly doing renovations one night when I was craving my pho, I had to find another place to satisfy that craving. Ha Long was pleasantly satisfying and they the broth is one the compete with Cuu Long. My only three spots are here, Cuu Long 1 & 2. Great service here too, got that local aloha spirit going. It's nice to have that with my meal sometimes. I've returned twice since then (within a month) and I probably will return soon.

Recently had lunch there with some friends. I ordered the BBQ pork chop rice plate combo. Combo adds a spring or summer roll and a soft drink to your meal for a few dollars more. The spring roll was hot and crispy served with a piece of lettuce. Not the full on complement of veggies with a full order of spring rolls but okay as a small appetizer. Pork chop was thin but tender and cooked perfectly with a nice crunch around the edges. Crisp fresh and pickled veggies and white rice came with the chops. We had arrived early for lunch so no problem with thhe seating but by noon the place was packed.

My friend, Steph has been raving about this place for the LONGEST time. Since I am a huuuuge fan of pho soup and have tried my fair share of places.. this was definitely on my top things to-do at home. After a night of partying at First Friday, a bunch of us headed here the next morning for some hangover lunch! As we waited for Steph to arrive, we were waiting outside this shopping plaza which looks older and not the shabbiest of places. We were surprised when we went in and was greeted by a very modern interior. I have never been to a pho establishment like this, ever. Hawaii or Vegas. They had some cool wood work going on that were cut into words and even a bowl of pho! Sooo cool. Service was very quick and they were very sweet girls who work there. I got my normal beef and tendon which I always order. I decided to go with the medium sized bowl. I was glad I did that because that bowl was HUGE!! And for $7 omg.. can't go wrong whatsoever. I couldn't even finish half.. I normally demolish my bowls. It could have also been that I was hungover like a motha too.. but I don't think I would've finished it regardless. The broth was perfect.. not too salty but not bland either. the perfect balance of beef and spices. My bowl was full of tendon with not as much beef.. but I'm not complaining. I hate it when other pho establishments skimp on the tendon and only give a few pieces. Not at Ha Long! Their summer and spring rolls were both very delicious as well. Also, the fresh lemonade sure woke me up! I wish we had a place like this in Vegas.. I'll be dreaming about you Ha Long.. until we meet again!

The chef who cooks the pho here (from Mon-Sat) used to work in Cuu Long (Chinatown). IMO he prepares the best noodle (chewy but not too soft) in town. The portion served is huge compared with other Pho restaurants. The broth is less thirsty prone as compared with other Pho restaurants. The only humbug is that you have to ask for the Jalapeno while the other Pho restaurants usually serve them with the vegetables.

my all time favorite pho joint! come here mostly 3 or 4 times a month. close to where i live and parking is good! the waitresses are extremely friendly and keeps checking up on you which is awesome! never had better customer service on point. i always get the chicken pho, with spring rolls. no matter what you get, after eating, youll get the full, "i regret i got that plate'' feeling, but ITS WORTH IT! haha. although its a very small place that could sit about 20 people maximum, maybe? it could get pretty busy at times so i suggest reserve beforehand!

  • Alyssa M.

I love their pho and vermicelli noodle dishes. Their bbq pork is so delicious, and their spring rolls are crispy and stuffed with filling. They also give lots of meat with their pho dishes, and the medium sized portion filled me up since they gave a generous portion of noodles. To me, what makes a pho restaurant great is that when served, the pho is SUPER hot. That way, the rare beef can be left on the side and cooked when desired, not have to sit in your pho and become well-done. The broth is also flavorful without being extremely salty. The decor of the restaurant is a funky green, that livens up the atmosphere. The people that work there are also efficient and friendly. It is a smaller location and it can get busy during the lunch rush. However, i have yet to be disappointed, and it is amongst my top picks for pho!

Pretty good pho.. Soup base is great.. This is probably one of the cleaner and nicer vietnamese restaurants I've been to on the island.. A little small.. About eight tables.. The only thing I can say slightly negative was that they give you lemon instead of lime and you have to ask for cilantro.. Overall, good eats..

One of the guys at work keeps talking about "pho" (fuh) noodles, so I figured why not give it a try. Boy am I happy that I did. This is the yummiest noodle soup concoction ever. Not only is it yummy, but it also helped to decongest me too. Yummy & theraputic make me a happy. The restaurant has a casual yet ntimately setting. The ingredients are all fresh & delicious.

I love pho, and I usually go to Chinatown for my pho quick fix, but after seeing this place on TV, I decided to go give this place a try. Friend just flew into town and we were hungry so we decided to eat here. We got there a little after 7pm and there was no wait. I had the Pho and he had the Pork Chops. I tried some of his pork chops and boy was it good, no wonder its their signature dish. This place is clean, and definitely has a unique interior, very hip and stylish even tho its a bit small. There is a lot of parking, so no need to circle around to find parking. Altho sometimes its a bit busy especially during lunch and dinner times. I will definitely be back !

Much better than the first time. The Pho was well presented and the portion was huge. Again, they could have given more veggies, but for the most part it was a great offering. Service was pretty bad they just plain forgot us! However, they were all very nice so that makes things better on the service front. Ha Long Pho Noodle House is a nice change of pace and I would recommend anyone in the area to check it out. Yum...

Ha Long is one of my Favs!! I come here at least 1 time per week. Honestly I eat a lot of pho and the pho here is top notch! The place is very clean and very contemporary looking, something you wouldn't expect from a Vietnamese pho joint. Service is awesome...Paul and Janice will take good care of you! This is also the only place where you can get a Pho Combo...I always get this! Pho, Spring or summer roll and a drink. It saves from ordering a pho and a order of spring rolls. In all....come check this place out...you will become a PHO-natic just like me!

One of our friends, whom we affectionately call the "Pho Snob" absolutely LOVES this place and will go to no other pho place other than this one. THAT'S pretty high praise considering he's always open to trying out new restaurants and food... all except for his beloved pho. So I was pretty psyched when I finally got to try it this weekend... My take on their pho? Eh, it was ok. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't that great either. I did like that their portions were generous and their service was great and friendly. Though small, the restaurant was clean, well-maintained, and had a cute, vibrant look to it. I don't think I would make a point to come here but I wouldn't exactly cry if somebody suggested to go here either. In all honesty, I'm actually inclined to try them out again as the Pho Snob absolutely loves it here. Eh... maybe it was just an off day. SIDE NOTE: I'm not sure if they share their bathrooms with other businesses in the strip mall but I sure hope people at Ha Long check their bathrooms more often. It's located outside and you need a key to use it, but when I went to use their bathroom, there was throw-up everywhere. It was DISGUSTING. It took sheer will power not to do the same thing! Please, please, please try to keep up with the cleanliness in your bathrooms or at the very least be more conscientious about checking it every now and then.

Wow. Who knew? Great pho is close to home. Best I've ever had? No. Top 5? Yes. I like the broth, but think I'm one of those guys who likes the warm spice flavors to be just a bit stronger. Raw beef on the side. Loads of condiments. Very, very good pho. She had the spring roll vermicelli. Delicious! And her summer roll was better than most. Small place but modern atmosphere. Very unique. We will be back!

This place was pretty good. Got the medium pho tai and it was surprisingly filling..they give a lot of beef slices. The broth was very tasty. My husband got the BBQ chicken and he said it was "alright". It's pretty small in here..luckily we got there before the dinner rush so we didn't have to wait. You can make reservations though. I saw a table that had a reserved sign.

This was my first time trying ha long and it was great! It was nice and empty so we got a seat fast. Really great, friendly service. I ordered my usual, spring rolls and Pho with the rare steak and the spring rolls came out super fast! Love it! The interior was also very nice. Very different from most places...it's actually kind of hip and modern...and very green haha! Oh and they had really cool green chopsticks as well :p just had to add that in! Go try it! Now! :)

Terrible terrible experience. Went to Ha Long for the first time tonight. I was excited to try it out because of good reviews I saw. The food was actually quite yummy and it's a cute restaurant. The service however was so awful that I refuse to go back there ever again. We had a nice server who must have been new. I thought she was doing fine but the female owner/manager kept bullying and ragging on her for the whole time I was there. It was super inappropriate and made me and a few other customers nervous. Seriously, it was so verbally degrading that I'm still fuming over it. I hope that poor server quits because nothing is worth that kind of abuse. While I'd like to hope this was an exception to the typical good service you might get here, the half-hour of awfulness I witnessed makes me think otherwise. I left by paying cash for my meal, and telling the manager/owner I'd never come back specifically because of her bad treatment of her staff. If you've ever been bullied and think it's time to stand up against that kind of unacceptable behavior, please join me and stay away from Ha Long.

Fills you up with beef broth goodness at a very reasonable price. Previously, I frequented To Chau on River St. a lot before I started my career. Now, my work schedule doesn't allow me to stand in line at 8am for a bowl of pho. It took me a long time to find another pho restaurant I liked. Ha Long Pho Noodle House is my new favorite.

I absolutely LOVE this place! We've tried several other Vietnamese places in Honolulu, but nothing compares to the service that you'd get here. The waitress was super nice, courteous, accommodating. My husband got Pho Tai and I got Noodles with BBQ pork. YUMMMMMMMMY!!! My husband LOVED the broth. I tried it and totally agreed. The seasoning of my BBQ pork was absolutely awesome -- comparable if not better than my mom's :P They weren't stingy whatsoever with their meat, which brought a big smile to my face. Spring rolls = 2 thumbs up as well. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!!!

The pho was really good. Lots of flavor. The interior design was very modern and nice. I like the staff. They greeted us on arrival. The only thing is they got one of the plate orders wrong. My pho came out fine. I like the dishes they used but I felt the plates and bowls were a little small... However, I got a lot of pho in my medium bowl. That was a super plus! The one thing I didn't like was that they didn't refill my water at all the entire time... Good thing I hadn't already finished it.

Pho soup base may be good, the (female) owner's attitude sucks! Her employees were very nice and provided great service. But again, the owner does not understand the concept of customer service or catering to her patrons. Owner's smile was not sincere. I've talked to others who were really put off by the owner's insincerity. Not coming back here again. And they don't even serve complimentary hot tea!

This is a clean restaurant with a nice modern feel. It is unlike most Pho restaurants which tend to have a monotone design and feel. The people that work there are friendly and service is quick. I have eaten a variety of dishes here. Summer Rolls - Similar to most but they do add a thin slice of pork. Nothing wrong with the pork and shrimp combination. Watercress Salad - Large portion, it can be a meal on its own. Vinaigrette is balanced. A very refreshing dish. Green Papaya Salad - Typical dish. I'm a hater of Cilantro and the Saw-leaf herb is very similar in taste. I ordered it without requesting not to have it in the dish. So for me it was not enjoyable. Pho - I've eaten with various combinations of meat and seafood. Broth is light and clear, refined in appearance. To me it is very balanced in flavor, no one spice overpowers the other. When ordering any combination of beef/chicken choices, they give you substantially more than any other Pho restaurant that I have been to. They did stumble, a few times that I have been there, where the broth was not piping hot and/or tasted diluted. I have yet to try any Pho in Chinatown, until then, this is at the top of my list when looking for Pho.

I also found this place out via Groupon, didn't know it was a bit of a drive from town, but so worth it. It's a very cute pho restaurant, love the big Pho sign and decor all around. The wait staff is friendly and comes by to check on you. The food has been consistently good. The prices are reasonable and you get a good portion compared to some other pho places. I still want to try their 3-bean dessert, they never have it when I'm there. I wish they would add on more dishes to their menu and stock more 3-bean dessert.

Pho- king Awesome! I The broth is oh so dark and flavorful! My bowl was bone dry because I drank all the broth! Of course there were a bunch of noodles and brisket left over (very generous portions!). I love that they put the rare meat on the side and spring rolls were really good too! Broth was #1 then came their satay garlic chili paste which is completely different from the ones I've had all over town! What is in there?! My friend thinks dried scallops. I think it's just full of awesomeness! Whatever it is, it's not just chili set your mouth on fire paste, but layers of flavor for dipping your just cooked steak in! :) service was nice, no problems or dirty looks for my friend who always asks for a million napkins. Cute decor! Food came out pretty quick. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the papaya salad. Needed a little more heat and p-nuttage. =P but it was stiill goood! Next time I'm taking my bf and we're getting the watercress salad, pho shizzo! :) It hasn't even been 24 hrs and already Ha Long Pho some more of this Noodle House!

Yuuuum!!!! I tried the BBQ pork and spring roll vermicelli and boy was that good!!! I liked it better than the pho. My bf got the lemongrass chicken and he loved that too (he liked his better than mine... but i liked mine better than his). The service here is always top notch and I can't wait to come back again.

Ha Long Noodle House is hands down the best Pho makers on the Island of Oahu! The broth is clear, clean, fragrant, not too salty and just plain old fashioned good comfort food. The servings are quite large with an abundance of the usual pho condiments. But pho isn't the only thing they make. Their pork dishes are delicious, cooked to perfection with a side of fluffy white rice and fresh veggies. Quartered tomatoes with pickled daikon and carrots. With just the right blend of BBQ and spicy sweet flavor. Their green papaya salad is the best I have found here. Fresh shredded green papaya, shredded pork, pink halved shrimp, crushed peanuts, finely diced basil and a wonderful spicy dressing to finish it off. It's a meal in itself! This isn't a fancy restaurant, it's very plain but clean and the wait servers are friendly and accommodating. I try to go there a couple times a month and if I have one of the colds I seem to get every winter, I get the pho broth to go and instantly feel better just knowing I have it on hand at home. I have taken many people here, some who have never heard of pho and I have had only one person not like it, she wouldn't have liked anything though so she doesn't count. Go to Ha Longs, if you are a pho lover as I an you will not be disappointed!

I am a total Pho-natic. Ha Long is basically the ONLY Pho shop that I am a customer, after a few catastrophic experiences at a couple of others. I've been a regular here for almost 3 years. I love it, and recommend it to everyone. Its small, but super cute. Better still - the place is clean, and the staff young and friendly. I give four stars because I think we can always get better and better, but 4 stars is really my 5 star! :)

Visitors from San Francisco and had a craving for pho. Stumbled into this great little Vietnamese restaurant after shopping at Costco. Interior decor is fairly modern unlike any other Pho restaurant we've been to, and I thought the menu was interesting, resembling spring roll rice paper wrappers. Service was great, we were greeted by the owner. But onto the most important thing-- FOOD. What I love best is a restaurant that can keep up with the freshness of their ingredients. For starters we had their watercress salad, each piece of watercress and lettuce were crispy and juicy-- A+. Main courses included a bowl of their combination pho, and lemongrass pork chops, both very tasty and the portions were hearty. Would definitely go again next time I'm in HI.

This is one of, I not my favorite pho places. The broth is clean and clear, the meat of good quality, and there is a lot if meat... I think enough to eat a piece of meat with every bite of noodle. Spring rolls are on the better side of average, but really I have never really been to a place that has screwed up spring rolls. A must have is a order if pho and a side of the pork sirloin strips!!! Staff is friendly and service good what more could you ask for!!!!

I had bad customer service here, for some reason the lady that was serving us, only pretended to be nice, like she had to do it, she was nice to only her friends when they were there, she slammed our orders on our tables, and for some reason she had a eye problem, she would always have that eying out look, i was with friends and i didn't want to eat PHO like they did so i just ordered the spring rolls, and she had that look, when i only ordered that, and replied with a sassy voice, "you know thats only appetizer yeah" i was like damn i can order whatever i want, and you dont have to be so anal about it. I was reluctant when i was there already, i was siting next to her friends and i watched her cater to her friends more than our group, and being all nice, i know customer service more than her, and i know the number one rule is customer is always right, and no matter what, you treat them with the same respect, service as how she done with her friends, she may of had a bad day or who knows but never bring it to you to work. This was my first time here i enjoyed the spring rolls and the atmosphere but its going to be the last time i come to this place, service sucked for my first time, theirs other PHO places that have way better customer service than this place. When i went to pay for what i ordered, she was at the cashier, even though the service and attitude she gave me i gave her a $1.00 tip, just to give some sense that you should always be nice to your customers no matter who they are, also to make her feel bad that she didnt deserve any tip what so ever. She's usually the one wearing the same color as the wall shirt.

We've been in a pho experience frenzy as of late, we heard of this place from a friend who calls himself a pho afficinado, so this place got to be good. Well, he was right, the pho wasn't too strong and the meatballs were tender, the flank was also tender, mixed with all the ingredients like the mint and the other vegetables. With the right mixture of sauce, I was satisfied with my meal!! The waitresses were really friendly and they made us feel at home!

"Cute", hip place to grab some Pho. Was previously a tie for my favorite Pho place in town. Typically order Pho with rare steak/rare steak and beef ball/rare steak and tendon. The amount of meats they serve is more than what most other Vietnamese places give. Broth is good, just wish it was a little bit warmer. Have had the issue of being unable to cook all the rare steak. Owners are friendly, and make you feel welcome whether you are dining in or taking out.

have been coming to ha long since they first opened. kinda bummed that it gets so crowded at lunch now. we have to leave at 11am to try to ensure we get a table. but the pho is good, so we go.... so we wait.... the owners are super nice. pros: good atmosphere, love the green. good pho, good food. cons: wish they had free refills of soda. sometimes gets crowded.

I don't really write reviews but I must say I was impressed with the pho. The soup needed no additives (sriracha and hoisin) that I'm usually accustomed to doing. I must say if it wasn't for it being a groupon deal I would have never discovered this place.

After reading about this place on yelp and after seeing pics of this place, i had to try this place out. So its been raining all night and all morning and what better time to eat pho. So I checked out this place and when I stepped in the store... wow!.. Nice place! Very nice and clean atmosphere, although the place was kind of small. I ordered a large beef brisket and flank. The broth was good and somewhat distinct. It was rich yet you could tell that the broth was cinnamony. Generous with the meat is a plus!..Also tried the spring rolls.. wasn't bad at all.. better than most places not better than to chau. Pho is good, and nice staff. But what I really liked was the interior design and setup of the restaurant.. Also liked the color scheme. Nice fish tank too! Will definitely be back in the near future.

Happened across this cozy place by chance. Certainly soothes the soul after having to wait in line at the DMV. I ordered the Pho with rare steak and beef balls, my partner in crime the Pho with rare steak and well done brisket. The broth was delicious but could have been a touch more flavorful [my personal opinion, others might think it's perfect the way it is]. Can't go wrong with beef balls; and apparently you can't go wrong with their well done brisket either, the flavor was well rounded and felt hearty. The raw steak was cut a bit thicker than what I'm used to, but I'll live. The only thing that really bugs me is: Not enough lemons were offered. Even after I requested more. No worries, I was fortunate enough to eat with someone who didn't want lemons in their broth, so ended up in my favor. If you're in the area, definitely give it a go. Price is somewhere between cheap and moderate.

One of the best Pho restaurants by far! It's small, and the customer service is great! Water is always full, and being that it is smaller, the people there tend to get to know you better kind of like a local joint in the neighborhood.

Really enjoyed the pho here. What sets them apart from many of the pho places that I've been to is they are quite generous with the meat portions that are served in/with their pho.

Fast and friendly service. Clean and comfortable casual feel to the place. The owners Janice and Paul and waitstaff are so kind to us everytime we come in. Hands down me and my wife's favorite vietnamese restaurant. Not only their Pho is the bomb, but their spring rolls and lemongrass chicken and vermecelli is off the hook!

The food it great!!! BUT!!! the wait is looong. The four times I've been there, I've waited and waited and waited. The food takes awhile to get to you, so may I suggest that you pre-order your food or better yet take it out. Order at least a half hour early.

Went here because we got a Groupon, I'm not usually a fan of Vietnamese food but my mom is, so we went. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table as the place is pretty small. We sat down and I ordered the BBQ chicken with brown rice, and my mom had the beef and tendon pho combo that came with a spring roll and a soda. My mom said that the pho was some of the best she has had as of recent and it was pretty large. My chicken was really really good, the seasoning was amazing. I would definitely order the chicken again. The spring roll was okay, definitely not the best I've had, probably would not order those again. But would definitely order the chicken again and my mom already wants to go back for pho. The employees were very friendly and it was overall a very pleasant experience.

I was early to an appointment in town and hadn't eaten lunch yet, so I began my search for a place to eat. Drove into City Square to turn around actually but saw this restaurant next to Sugoi's. I love pho and have tried quite a few places - this was by far a surprise when I opened the door and walked in. It is nicely decorated and looked very clean. Service was very friendly. I ordered the #15 combination pho which took a bit longer than other restaurants but was well worth the wait. Their broth is so flavorful yet not salty and oily. This had so much meat in it (2x more than what you see in the photo below) I was actually full after finishing the smaller size. This is the first pho restaurant that I've been to that offers combo meals. Will definitely come back when I am in the area to try other dishes.

I stumbled upon this place after reading some reviews on Yelp. I'm from SoCal and have eaten at various Pho houses. This one seemed pretty promising. Nice decor, staff was friendly enough. It wasn't particularly busy the evening I went. I ordered a Large Pho Dac Biet (Beef combo). It was HUGE. There was seemingly a never-ending supply of the beef brisket - a little too well done for my liking. The flank steak was good, I ordered it rare (i.e. it was brought out to me raw and I mixed it in myself). Meatballs were tasty. The tripe/tendon were spot on. The thing I was really disappointed with was the broth. There wasn't nearly enough flavor. I had to add in heaps of hoi-sin, sriracha, and garlic chili sauce to give it some more flavor. I might give this place a second chance, they had some other items that I wouldn't mind trying (e.g. various rice dishes). However, given that this place is a Pho house, I might not. Final verdict: Generous portions, easy on the wallet, flavor was somewhat lacking. 3/5.

Small and unknown but clean with excellent food, Ha Long is almost like a boutique Vietnamese restaurant. Service is attentive and pleasant. Soup stock is tasty and the veggies are fresh. Parking is no problem but they could have slightly longer hours.

Ha long u goin take? Well the answer lies across the the canal close by hcc.. Ha long noodle house! By viewing it from afar it looks small but yet elegantes for meehus. Very nice atmosphere.. cool music, one very cute waitress, cool eating settings. The pho is not quite how i expected it to be. There large is like a medium bowl. Didnt like the cinnamon twist flavored broth, gotta love the "green" chopsticks and cool looking spoon. Sping rolls were actually not that bad. Sevice was ahite. I just was so fascinated by the articulant atmosphere! Props to the interior designer. Not bad but to chau rules!!!!

I finished my take out pho from Ha Long 5 minutes ago and I am one happy camper. I waltzed in a bit late (around 8:15) and I was greeted warmly by the wait staff, despite the obvious closing shop activities taking place. I ordered the special, minus the tripe (don't like the texture) and was in pho-heaven!! It's a really good hole-in-the-wall place that has good service (meaning the wait staff was pleasant, not necessarily timely due to a previous sit-down lunch experience). I would highly recommend this place for someone looking for a quaint restaurant with good food and atmosphere.

yay, this place was really good although a bit more expensive then the vietnamese restaurants in chinatown. i tried their spring roll/sliced pork vermicelli bowl and the bf had the fatty brisket pho. they give big bowls. their pork was very tasty and the bbq flavor was just right. i like that they had the mint on the side so that i could just remove the sprig from my bowl. we also drank the salted lemon drink and it was so good! like drinking lemon peel in water. ok that sounds more appealing in my mind then how it comes across! the people here are helpful and friendly and a plus is that they have a lot of parking and they are open at night.

This used to be my favorite Place to satisfy my pho cravings. Sadly though, service with a smile doesn't exist at this restaurant. Their broth is bland compared with others. I find myself having to put in a lot of extra sauces in order to get the broth to taste up to par with other pho places.

I've been a "Pho-natic" for years now, and I've been to quite afew places. First of all, I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's very cozy, contemporary, and fun! (Read the menu, you'll understand). Unlike other Pho Restaurants that seem minimalistic and just functional boring. I appreciate the overall quality of there Pho, from the broth, to the noodles, the cuts of meats they use, & the "add on" side vegetables and sauces. The overall quality is top notch! The staff is always there to welcome you with a warm smile and a friendly greeting. And the service they provide during your meal, is on the same level as the food they serve. My advice to those interested in going to Ha Long, go during off hours. The restaurant is rather small, and they can only seat about 25-30 people at the most, I've notice at night, there always busy, but during the late afternoon, there more relaxed and less busy. There is plenty of free parking located in the shopping plaza. For having great quality, a contemporary atmosphere, affordable prices, and friendly and promp staff, Ha Long has my 5 stars, and my continued business!

Stated simply, ha long is my favorite pho restaurant for a combination of reasons: the meat is fresh and plentiful, noodles al dente, broth savory, the place clean, and for a pleasant surprise, the service is outstanding. To top things off, they have the most amazing banana tapioca dessert.

So this is one of the places that I've had bookmarked for awhile and haven't had the chance to check out. After going to the Taste of Kalihi this past weekend, my bf and I decided to check out Young's fish market (but I really didn't feel like eating Hawaiian food). So we decided to try Ha Long Pho, too bad we didn't want to wait an extra 30 minutes so we could get their anniversary special of "buy one get one 1/2 off" Anyways we were hungry and didn't want to wait! The vegetables were fresh, they didn't give a ridiculous amount (which is fine because we notice the couple sitting next to us didn't touch their vegetables but I'm sure if we asked them for more they would've gladly given us). The pho was just okay to me. I noticed they didn't have cilantro in their broth and they also don't give jalapenos with the vegetables. They also didn't have my favorite garlic chili sauce that most places have :(

I love pho but am very picky when it comes to which pho place I go to. To be honest, there are only a select few I go to and this is one of them! Their pho and spring rolls are sooo good, one of the best. And the service there is fast and friendly. What I love most about this pho above all the other places is that it's conveniently located close to school so it's also a walk away. There's always parking if needed, and it's never a hassle to get there because it's easy to find. Plus, I love the contemporary style to the place, it's different from most pho places. I love this place, Highly recommended!

Breaking away from my standard of Pho My Lan is a big step. I really enjoy that place. But I think I've found another goody! Located near Young's Fish Market, Ha Long is ways away from China Town but I'd drive here any day. It's in a tiny location (old Kapiolani Coffee Shop) along that small strip of food places. The prices are reasonable and the people are friendly and attentive. Of course the food isn't as quick as Pho My Lan but it's not too much more of a wait. What's awesome about this place is that it allows for calling in to put your name on the waiting list as well as pre-order. But I noticed that the food isn't that much quicker if you pre-order. My fave: #21 - BBQ Chicken (yah it says pork on the menu but you can substitue with no price change) and Spring Rolls. So yummy! Something about the spring rolls... they're fried so perfectly that the crispy melts in your mouth! The BBQ chicken is cooked with some kind of sauce (or maybe a lack there of) that it tastes wonderful without any funky taste. This has officially become one of our Saturday places to grind.

Just finished a tasty, satisfying meal at Ha Long. This is a classy restaurant with very friendly service that gives the customer the warm feeling that they are an honored guest in the owner family's home. More importantly, the food is consistently excellent, from the appetizers to the pho to the vermicelli bowls to the rice plates. Ha Long uses fresh ingredients and brings out their flavor, without using the fryer or oil or heavy sauces. This is how Vietnamese food should taste! And as an added bonus, it is very inexpensive, especially considering the high-quality ingredients and tasteful decor. Highly recommended.

Was in town taking care of business so wife and I dropped in for lunch. Found the place on Yelp and decided to try it out (we live in Makakilo). Glad we did... tucked away back in the City Square Mall, the location ain't the best, but the food is close to being the best. I have the lemon grass beef on top of a bed of vermicelli (sp?) noodles and lettuce. EXCELLENT. Wife had a medium bowl of pho with tripe. Very large tripe too. She was very happy. We usually eat our Vietnamese at The Pho Company in Kapolei, which is very nice. Have to say that Ha Long is just as good. Place is small, but cozy. Very nicely appointed.... dark green walls, green chop sticks and nice while plates and bowls. One of the more contemporary Vietnamese pho places we have seen. Highly recommended. Talked to the owner and she said she opened about a year ago... she would do better if she had a better location.

Tasty broth. Hard to believe how thin you can cut a piece of steak. On your first check in you can get a 10% discount for Yelpers. Glad they got rid of their green reusable chopsticks and now use bamboo disposable ones. Veggies were okay but I like it really fresh . Wait staff friendly and accommodating

I must admit that I have never been IN Ha Long Noodle House to eat. I have always ordered take out. I have both called in my order and walked in to place my order. They are consistently polite and good natured. I usually sit outside to wait for my order and they always graciously bring it to me rather than waiting for me to come and get it. Nice touch. My regular order is the spring roll vermicelli plate. I like that it's tasty but not heavy. The vermicelli noodles sit on a bed of sprouts, mint, basil and lettuce, and the fish sauce can be poured over the noodles. But don't forget to save some fish sauce for dipping the spring rolls! I also really enjoy the vegetable pho, especially when I am not feeling well! To me, the broth has a tangy, lemony flavor that I prefer to a salty broth. The broth comes with tofu and a very generous helping of fresh veggies, including sprouts, broccoli, basil, and mint. As with the vermicelli spring roll plate, the veggies are always of very good quality and very fresh. The banana tapioca pudding is quite flavorful and the peanuts they put on top are a good compliment to the texture and flavor of the pudding. While I haven't been inside to eat, I like the décor and ambiance of the place. It looks fun! The walls are decorated with bright green colored pho-related words, and they even sell cute t-shirts with their logo. The menus are round in shape and the tables are loaded with all the hot sauces and condiments you would desire. All in all this is a great restaurant and I can't wait to return!

Ha Long is one of our favorite places for pho. It's a little oasis in the middle of Dillingham shopping center and normally has a bit of a wait for a table during rush times. My husband, the pho aficionado, loves the combination pho and I always get the lemongrass chicken plate that's served with fresh veggies and jasmine rice. So good!

Came here cause I was craving pho and it popped up on my yelp search. PHO: the broth had no flavor. I had to put a lot of hoisin and sriracha to make it even a little tasty. Decent portions of meat. SPRING ROLLS: your typical spring rolls. Nothing too exciting. My favorite part of the meal was the Salted Lemonade, which was basically dried lemon peel thrown and steeped in water and served on ice. It's something I think you could make at home.

  • Hien V.

Friendly service but their pho is disappointing. It taste like odd smelling noodle and some salt water. The broth lacks a rich flavor usually as a result of stewing meat and bones for a long time. I couldn't even detect a hint of charred onion, ginger or star anise. Suffice to say there is better pho around, I would still give this place another try but perhaps a different dish. The table next to us seemed to be enjoying a grilled pork dish.

Finally I was able to visit this Ha Long Pho because i was impressed from photos by yelpers. The deco with bright green and black paint looks refreshing. The size of the restaurant, however, appears much smaller than Yelp photo, but cute & cozy... My personal rates are... 1. Pho - The noodle was cooked perfectly, and the soup was very hot in temperature (excellent) I chose 3 meats that I like (excellent). But if you are a cilantro lover like me, you need to ask for it because it is not in the soup (huh...). The port of the noodle, broth, & meat was ok... the large bowl looks like a medium bowl of many other V restaurants, but it is deep though. The broth tasted light and slightly sweeter side though. It wasn't "wow~" kind of surprising.... The overall rating for Pho is (4/5 star) 2. Spring roll - I ordered the combo meal because I cannot finish Pho with a full order spring roll. But well.... geeee~ only one skinny spring roll was served (no noodle, pickles, & vegi to wrap to eat). A can of soda was included that I do not need, and they charged $3.55 more when you order a large bowl of Pho. I normally do not drink soda with Pho, so I rather have two good size spring rolls instead for additional $3.55 (not for a skinny keki finger food like spring roll). Disappointed! The taste was nothing special. The overall rating for the one piece spring roll is (2/5 star) 3. Hot sauce - 3 different types of hot sauce (5/5 star). It was perfect for me because I usually use different hot sauces for meats, fresh side vegi, and the soup. This place is maybe a lovable little place for a lunch with a girl friend. It was a fun experience to visit once, but since I live near by St. Louise, I'll just stick with my favorite Pho and the spring rolls at Hale Vietnam Restaurant.

We live close to the place and I dont know why we dont come here more often. The spring roll and vermicelli plate great. Its not a heavy meal. The noodles are always perfect and the spring roll dipped in the sauces is really good. My favorite cold rainy day meal here is the rare beef and tendon pho. The broth alone is just fricking ono. Add the noodles, sprouts, sweet basil, meat and tendons, this dish is just unreal. Dip the beef or tendon in that plum sauce and it kicks it up further. I never had the chance to eat in because is crowded when we go so we usually order takeout. Again, if your in the area give this place a try.

Not a bad pho restaurant if you can't make it to Chinatown and don't want to deal with the parking. The portions are decently sized, prices reasonable and broth has good flavor, and service is good. Expect to pay $9 for a large bowl (yes folks, it's really a large). Sounds like a winning formula to me. They ran out of the chicken pho so ordered a tofu pho instead. For this, they use soft tofu, other places are fried (which I prefer). But at least the soft tofu didn't break apart. The broth has a stronger cinnamon and star anise flavor, so if you don't like that, this is not the place for you. Thumbs up (tribute to Ebert)!

Great customer service, their vermicelli and pho are on point and to go order packaging is top notch even with soup orders.

This is one of my favorite pho spots in Honolulu. It is a pretty small restaurant, so make sure to keep that in mind. There might be a wait when you visit, but it's never too bad. The restaurant is cozy and brightly painted, with kind of a younger, more contemporary vibe. They even play contemporary music, which is great. I am used to eating pho while being serenaded by terrible music, so this is a nice change of pace. The menus are also cute and the staff is nice. They have a couple of options for pho and they even come in a medium or large bowl. My husband and I will usually order the crispy spring rolls and each get a bowl of pho. I can barely finish the medium bowl of pho, but my hubby always scarfs down a large bowl. If your pho comes with sliced beef, they will give you the option to have it uncooked and on the side, in case you want to add your beef slices to your broth at your leisure. This is actually the first pho place I've been to that offers this option. It's nice. This is one of our favorite pho spots because the broth has a nice flavor without being greasy. Also, there is lots of meat in the bowl. They are not being stingy with the meat, which is always nice. Additionally, their noodles have a good consistency. They are not too chewy and not too soft....just right. I am actually not a huge pho eater, but I will enjoy a bowl of pho here because I don't feel like I just gorged on a greasy, fatty meal.

We went to Ha Long Pho Noodle House for lunch today and ordered: Medium Rare Steak Pho, Large Rare Steak Pho and Spring Rolls. What they brought us was COMBINATION PHOS. After we had informed them that the we had only ordered the Medium Rare Steak Pho, they took it back and brought out what looked like only rare steak. However, after eating half of it, we found pieces of tripe with the plate with the steak. We didn't eat anymore of it because we were so upset. We questioned the server and she said that SHE DID TELL THE COOK TO MAKE A NEW ONE, but obviously that didn't happen. Very disappointing since we go there often and because of this, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. EVIDENTLY, THEY WERE TRYING TO SAVE A BUCK, BUT DIDN'T CARE ABOUT LOSING PATRONS!!!

This is the first place I've ever eaten pho from and tbh, it's my number 1 choice to go to. I have seriously gone to other places and not liked the service or food but here...the food is great and the service is up to par. I can honestly admit that I've gone here for 9 weekends straight just for the pho. The broth is amazing. Some other places I've been, broth had no taste and it was so bland. But here I've never been let down.

This place is awesome. Small but awesome with amazing pho and summer rolls! Great and friendly service every time. I recommend it to any one looking for a good place to eat that's off the beaten path.

I only recently started eating pho on a regular basis (weekly-ish), but I always go with my best friend who has always loved pho. I was a little underwhelmed with the pho, maybe because I had high expectations from the yelp reviews. Taste: C+ Neither good nor bad. The meat wasn't very tasty, but the sauces helped. A little Sriracha and lemon is needed, in my opinion, to give the broth taste. Also the basil leaves didn't seem very fresh or they were from a bad crop. Service: B+/A- This is where I agree with most yelpers. The service was pretty good, especially when I think about the service I get at some other Vietnamese restaurants. I think part of the reason is the staff speaks English fluently, which if you eat at the pho places I do, you'll understand is rare. Location and Atmosphere: B Since it's right next to the busiest DMV on the island parking can be a small hassle. Having said that, parking is free and it's around a lot of other shops in the same shopping area, so the location is actually pretty convenient. The restaurant looks pretty modern, light green theme with a clean dining area. Relatively small but ok for going with your family, or significant other, or just with a small group of friends.

Great place in Dillingham Square. There pho was delicious and you can do different types of combos. Service was great and expect to wait for a table when the place gets crowded. Will definetly be back to try more items on the menu.

Parking in this area can be cray cray during the lunch rush. Seating here is super limited. Service is quick though so the wait time wasn't very long. Tried the pork and spring roll vermicelli - more than enough for one person and tasty. Will return to try other dishes!

This place is adorably decorated. It's got a green theme going on that is found on the walls, on the menus and on the sauce dishes. Way more pizzaz than a typical Pho joint. I have to talk a bit more about the menus because they are too cute for words. They are circular and all the circles are joined together with a ring, they are made of hard plastic which makes them look a bit more expensive and more durable than pretty much any restaurant's menu I've ever seen. Best of all, they are clean. I'd consider eating off of them, if I needed to. When we walked in at 5:45 pretty much every table was full. We ordered summer rolls, veggie pho, and a regular beef pho. The food itself is good, but nothing extraordinary. I did find the prices to be a dollar or two more than most pho places, but I do like the decor and the cleanliness. But here's my story. In no way am I punishing the restaurant for this but...we sat in the middle of the restaurant so pretty much every table was our neighbor. A family sat on the right of me and a little boy was playing on his...whatever it was. iPod touch, DS, whatever. The volume on his device was at MAX, the ENTIRE night. I couldn't hear the restaurant's music over this kid's game. Parents: it's called EARBUDS or MUTE. Choose one. Don't ruin our dinner. I was hoping the employees would say SOMETHING but, nothing. It was a bit painful. Anyways, when we left, there was a crowd outside. I'd say come early and bring earplugs.

Love their pho! Better than any pho you could get in Chinatown broth was tasty, meat tender. The service was great (service with a smile), restaurant was clean. Also, don't have to hassle with finding or paying for parking in Chinatown. Would definitely recommend.

This is a great place for pho, and their other dishes are excellent as well. I really like their pho with beef balls and rare steak, watercress tofu salad, and the vermicelli with spring rolls and pork. Overall, great place for lunch or dinner. They manage to get people in and out fairly quickly (food comes out really fast!) and so even if there is a wait, it isn't too long. The workers are always friendly. Will continue to come to this place to satisfy my pho cravings!

This is an overdue review, but my family and I used to come here last year to enjoy a hot bowl of pho. Although there was ALWAYS a wait, portion size was good, so we came here pretty often. Broth is very important to me as I don't add additions to my pho. However I think they changed chefs mid last year and the broth is now too sweet - not a fan at all. We haven't come back since, but if you like sweet pho, this is the place for you.

The pho here is excellent. Great flavor, good food. The broth is excellent, the service is fast and quick. The papaya salad was tasty and refreshing and the meats in my pho was excellent as well. I highly recommend all my pho loving friends to check this place out. Parking is pretty good, except during the lunch rush. But gotta make the effort if you want great food.

Hmm.. I don't want to call myself a "pho connoisseur" but I absolutely LOVE pho! I can eat it every day. So I guess you can say I had high expectations after reading the yelp reviews and friend's reviews on Ha Long. Let's start with the positives: + I thought the service was awesome. My bf and I came at around 7pm on a Friday and it was packed. That made me even more anxious to try Ha Long since being packed is a good sign that the food must be good! Well, even though it was jammin', the staff was very good at taking orders quickly, delivering food, filling up water even if it was only half full, etc. I also get nervous whenever my order isn't written down, especially when I ask for all kinds of requests (no cilantro, meat outside, extra onions, side tofu), but when our food came out, our orders were on point. Coming from a service industry background and in pursuit of my MBA, I have a better understanding and appreciation for good service. + The soup was also pretty good. It's the main part of the pho and I didn't have to put any sauces inside. I don't think its my favorite pho soup broth but not bad. OK, now the negative: - I don't mean to knit-pick but I can't stand pho rare steak meat that is not fresh. Although there was a lot of meat, my meat was semi-frozen, hard, stuck together, and had the metallic sheen all over it. I've been eating pho forever and when I see pre-cut, frozen meat it really turns me off. I guess when I order pho tai (rare steak) I expect freshly cut rare steak, or maybe that's just me. Overall, I'm not sure if service and the soup can bring me back here. Maybe I came at an off night, but my first impression was just OK :/

I love, love love the cold noodle bowls. I had the tofu one and I have been craving it every since I had it. The staff was pleasant and the restaurant clean. I'm not too fond of the atmosphere though. It's a small restaurant and is kinda cramped in there, but the food makes it worth it to come back!

Had to run an errand near Dillingham and stopped here for lunch. It was around 2pm on a Saturday and was busy. We were lucky and scored a table right away. Got the Summer rolls to start and I got my usual "Medium Rare Steak." It was yummy broth and seemed like more noodles than some other pho places. That's good because I was carbo-loading for a long run on Sunday. I'll be back Ha Long Pho. It's been "Ha Long?" Too Long! Xoxo, Angel

I was nineteen when I first tried Pho for the first time. I had it in Chinatown at that restaurant on River Street. You know that one that always has a line out the door? The pho I had was "the best"! I could never find another place that made it quite as good. So when my husband took me here for the first time I thought it's not going to be as great. But to my surprise the flavor of the broth really took me back. This place has great pho so the rest of the menu has to be just as good...right? My favorite to get here is the Spring Rolls with vermecilli. At other places they usually fry their spring rolls ahead of time and tastes like it's been sitting out all day. Ha Long's spring rolls come out piping hot! My fav is dipping it in the fish sauce. Ha Long is right next to Thang II (best bubble drinks evah). When ever I go the parking lot is always full so be patient when you're driving around. There is also street parking if you can't wait to get your fix on some good ol vietnamese good. YUM
