My boyfriend frequents Best Drive-In when he needs a quick snack or lunch during the work week, and today I stopped by with him to grab his go-to favorite: chicken musubis. At $1.45 I've always wondered about these infamous chicken musubis which he swears by. Once I offered to make him a breakfast burrito and he told me he'd just grab a chicken musubi. So here is what I deduced are three possible reasons for his decision: A) My breakfast burritos suck. B) There is a hot girl at the counter. C) The chicken musubis are a really good deal and he was in a rush to get to work. Thankfully I think that the reason is "C," because although the man who runs Best Drive-In is super friendly, he is definitely not a hot girl and I know my cooking to be quite spectacular. I ordered four chicken musubis and they made them fresh which I thought was pretty great! The meat is chicken thighs which are nice and juicy and there's a huge ball of rice wrapped in big pieces of nori. A bit too much rice for my taste but my two-year old daughter devoured it with glee. As a bonus I have to say that I appreciate any place which states on it's menu "God Loves Your Everyday" and "Nice Coffee For Your Morning," all of course which is served with a genuine smile.

This was our second time catering through Best Drive-In. Once again it was for my oldest daughter's birthday. And, once again, the food was ONO! Prices went up by a dollar since our last time ordering, but heck, it's still a good deal. We got the Menu I which comes out to $13 per person, buffet style for a party of about 40 people. Included are the following: -BBQ Beef -BBQ Chicken -Chicken Katsu -Mandoo -Meat Jhun -Long Rice -White Rice -Bean Sprouts -Mac Salad -Cabbage -Kim Chee Cucumber -Kim Chee -Watercress We ended up ordering for only 20 people and still had choke left overs! People loved the food and kept coming back for more. And when we told them to bring home left overs, they jumped on it and took home plates on top of plates. They accept credit card only for catering orders. But, this is by far the most reasonable, tastiest place on the island for catering. I will even go as far as to say they are waaaaaay better than Gina's! And, the owner is super friendly and helpful. But, then again Korean food depends on what your palate prefers. Each place has it's own blend of sesame oil, salt, sweetness, etc. Best Drive-In has the right mix for my Korean palate.

So I'm standing in line to order. The guy in front of me is paying for his. An Asian woman walks in and stand in front of me. A male worker comes forward and asks her what she wants to order. She points too me, and says he was first. The male then proceeds to say " that's alright", and continues to help her. WTF.....

Best Drive-In? Best kept secret! Actually, it's no secret to those who work out in Sand Island. This place is always crowded for the breakfasts under $4 and the amazing plate lunches $8-9. LOVE their Korean food, LOVE the okazuya food, LOVE the pre-made musubis, and LOVE all the banchans in the display case. Get there early or they will run out of your favorites! yelp.com/biz_photos/DFlG… Too bad I didn't check-in til I was done or I could've loved the free 3-piece mandoo too! Next time!

After reading all the great reviews I made a mental note to check it out the next time I was in the area. Sad to say I was not impressed at all. I went after work so around 3:30 p.m. Upon the cashiers recommendation I ordered their special plate with kalbi, bbq chix, meat-fish-zucchini- jun, and a piece of mandoo. I am certain that all the items were pre-cooked-possibly leftovers from the lunch rush. First of all the food was ready in less than 5 minutes. I'm not a stickler for having my food piping hot but everything was stone cold. The worst item was the bbq chix-it was very dry and tough. Only the kalbi was decent. The sides didn't fare much better. The potato salad was very dry and lacked flavor. The bean sprout namul was bland as well. The chap chae didn't have the variety of vegetables you normally get. The seaweed salad was the only side that was okay. Even the rice was a little crunchy. The only bright spot was the service-the cashier was very polite and courteous. I would actually have to give them 2-1/2 stars. If I worked in the area I might try something else but there's too many Korean places out there to go out of my way. I REALLY wanted to like this place.....

Want Korean take out? Come here. Cash only. Best Kim chee and the special combo plate is insanely cheap food enough for 2-3 people for $12.50. The workers are very nice. They have yum yum mandoo and amazing egg rolls they call - KOREAN Eggroll. (What else would they call it?) it's stuffed with thin beef, bean sprouts and veggies in a brown sauce and stuffed real big. Gotta try it - they run out fast.

I have been going to this eatery since 2003. What can be said about a place that is around for that long on such a limited area that already isn't said about a business being around for so long? (get it? or did I lose you?) I guess I can give some details since you already can figure out that it is a sure thing eatery. May not be the best in everything but most things are pretty darn good. And that is not easy to do. Let me start with the owners and workers...every day, always smiling, all day long. Wonderful people, hard-workers! Love them! Okay, now the food. Whether it is the ready made okazuya offered in the morning for breakfast eaters that are in a rush, to made to order meals off the menu, everything is pretty tasty. Things I enjoy in order of my personal favorites: *spicy pork *fried squid *Korean sushi roll *meat juhn, fish juhn, mundoo I have tried other things but can't remember them all. I have never been disappointed. I love their vegetables and sides! One complaint I have here is that when you ask for spicy it doesn't happen. Their kimchee is also not spicy. It is just not something they do. Other than that, I love this place. It always feels so welcoming and I feel appreciated as the owners constantly strive to please their customers. They work 10 hour days 6 days a week to be available to their customers. Honestly this is why this place is 5-stars in my book rather than 4!

  • Camille C.

Cash only! The kalbi here is pretty darn amazing. Great marinate & great quality of meat. Knocking it down a star because the kimchi (or kim chee to most people here on the island) was lacking. It was stale in flavor & spice. A tad disappointing, really. But I absolutely recommend this place on their kalbi plate alone!

The best drive in has the best spicy BBQ pork. the flavor is strong and their portions are large. i usually order full plate and i eat it for 2 meal. i love it! They are very friendly workers and service is great. Quick on their meal and if you phone order, by the time you get there your food is ready. Also they have okazuya style of food where you get to pick up to 6 items and it's under $10 dollar with the drink. the food taste good and their service is great so i'm a fan of this place.

Egg roll bomb! BOOM, bay-bee! 4.5 stars, defaulting to 4 overall. Came here for a very, very early lunch after a flight. Most of us ordered the same damn thing (monkey see, monkey mandoo). Usually, everything is tasty and great. This time...still good, but... PROs: + chicken Katsu was beautifully trimmed! crunchy, great breading to meat ratio + brown rice done well + Kalbi was tasty and soft, easy to eat + BBQ chicken was grilled beautifully with good char + giant egg roll looked like a grease bomb but was freaking awesome fresh (maybe wouldn't be later, tho) + like Mako H. said, the meat jun is really, *really* good + okazuya was fresh & a great value + choke food for the money + sweet, sweet ladies behind the counter and a really nice owner who checked on people even as he was bringing in supplies CONs: - banchan (sides) weren't very flavorful today for some reason. @Choi sum was gritty and needed salt/shoyu. @Bean sprouts weren't seasoned well, either. @Mac salad was plain, but compared to the outstanding proteins, stood out as a coulda-been-so-good-but-wasn't. @Even the seaweed needed seasoning (rats!). - parking is tight at lunch and you will compete with a lot of work trucks (hey, it's Sand Island), best to have someone drop you off. We'll be back, of course. Those musubi are crazy good. And the egg roll, while not a thing of beauty to many, I love. Like an ugly baby or a hunchbacked boyfriend who is nonetheless more fun than a Grand Canyon zipline. But maybe next time, I'll try totally different banchan.

Rice is rice, eggs are eggs, and bacon is bacon. When it comes to your basic breakfast plates, there's not much room for differentiation. However, breakfast at Best, although basic, is offered at a rock bottom price. Breakfast special, $3.75: 2 scoops rice, 2 eggs, your choice of meat yelp.com/biz_photos/DFlG… and it comes with a small cup of coffee! Def can't beat that deal! Also got the french toast for $2.50: yelp.com/biz_photos/DFlG… For under $7 combined, arguably the best bang for your buck when it comes to breakfast. Parking is plentiful, owners are nice, and service is quick.

Coming from California and damm. Havent had Great Korean Food in awhile! Everything about this place is so dope! The owners are the sweetest and so welcoming. I got the Drive in special with everything and lots of Kim-chi and the Daikon root kim chi like! Highly recommend to come through!

I've eaten here countless times in the past 15 years because I used to work down Sand Island side. It was convenient to stop here on the way to work. Other than that, it's not a place I would drive to just to eat if I wasn't in the area. I'm seeing a pattern in a lot of my reviews. It seems that one of my criteria is whether I would drive someplace to eat that's out of my way and how far. For me, the food is nothing to be wowed. Average to just above average Korean take out. The staff and owners are very friendly and every now and then will throw in something extra gratis. It's a safe bet as long as you don't expect anything more than good take out Korean food.

The prices here are very reasonable especially considering how much food they give plus it tastes pretty good too. Also the service was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back again.

Delicious! I came straight from the airport. I took one glance at the menu and was overwhelmed with choices. I asked the guy working the counter for what some of his best dishes were. He loaded me up a massive plate of fish cooked with egg batter and delicious meat. Also the Kim Chi and other sides will have me wanting to return on my next Hawaii trip.

  • Albert S.

This place had the best food. The quantity is massive, but the quality was definitely on point. It's a pretty small place, but the owners are great and nice. The meat jun was amazing, but the potatoes were just okay.

Several bite-sized pieces of jalapeno pepper in the tofu soup this time, and beads of sweat on my forehead, nose, and upper lip. My shirt collar went limp from the steam rising from the back of my neck, and my nose started to run. "Is this 'medium'?" I beseech with my wide and teary eyes as I look around the room. I notice the friendly Korean lady behind the counter looking at me. She's smiling. And probably thinking "Wimp!"

Ugggh. I really want to go with the herd and automatically give Best Drive-In a perfect 5-stars, but you know what? I can't. Best Drive-In is NOT DA BEST! I'll buck the trend and give BDI a view from the Rebellious Black Sheep of the family... "An-yŏng-ha-se-yo!" (Hi) BDI AMBIANCE: Typical boxy local diner. It's located a few blocks down on Sand Island Access Rd. The building probably new in the 1970's and ironically 1970's soft rock playing as I walked in. The typical Yvonne Elliman's "If I Can't Have You". Framed photos of the owners posing with Daniel Dae Kim, Chad Owens, Neil Abercrombie (I guess they like K-food too), etc. The business itself can't be that old, but I'm only guessing a decade max? Two food counters- meat & vegetables/sides. The disco menu on the wall. Several cafeteria type tables & chairs scatter throughout. Most patrons were workers in the area. Best described as a CAFETERIA vibe with a South Korea touch. GRADE: C+ BDI GRUB: Seems like the go-to item here is the Meat Jun. Per Emi, my little birdie and most legit reviews I scanned. Of course, I go to the counter and order something else. Typical me /sigh. All regular plates (mini is an option) comes with 4 sides. My order: PORK KATSU (looked good in pic)- Sweet Potato, Choi Sum, Corn and Long-rice Noodles. Of course, White Rice (brown is an option) is my starch. No doubt I received CHOKE food. A ton of sides and a ton of Katsu, but.. It WASN'T DA BEST! Frankly, it seemed like the Katsu could have been in higher heat as it was soggier than I would have liked. Still good, as I ate it all, but definitely NOT DA BEST! The SIDES, interesting enough, were probably better than the average Korean Fast Food spot! So, the SIDES might be BEST, but definitely NOT the Katsu. This ran me nearly $9 buckaroos, but it was plenty! GRADE: C+ BDI STAFF: Very, very friendly staff. I believe the couple, at the counter, were also the owners- both humming Yvonne Elliman tunes. There were at least two others in the back too. Probably all South Korean related. Very, very friendly and easy to "talk story" in English or if you know Korean, go for it. I love these small businesses that try hard to compete with the chain stores and restaurants! The friendliness of the staff get's a bonus star! GRADE: A I guess I should have ordered the Meat Jun or something meaty like the Short Ribs, but no I went with my lips, yet again. So, being frugal me I ate every bite and walked out feeling a tad bloated. No worries I'm headed to the gym anyway... Well, after I digest it for an hour. "Don't know why I'm survivin' ev'ry lonely day When there's got to be no chance for me My life would end..." -Yvonne Elliman Lastly, my experience was average, but with very nice owners. So, I have to grade BEST as AVERAGE with a BONUS STAR for friendliness. 3-stars + 1-star = 4-stars. A decent place for some choke Korean grub in the heart of Sand Island. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but then again... I still need to try the Meat Jun! Is it really DA BEST?! Hey, at least I have Yvonne Elliman, circa 1978, etched on my mind for a week! Yes! "If I can't have you I don't want nobody baby If I can't have you, uh-huh, oh..." -Yvonne Elliman "Na-jung-e bwae-yo!" (Cya later alligator) YELP REVIEW #179

For service alone, this place deserves 4 stars! The ladies who work there are super nice. I went early to try and avoid lunch rush (got there about 11am) and it was actually busy! people make a lot of phone orders so you just walk in and see boxes of food ready for pick up. When you walk in, they immediately acknowledge you and tell you that whenever your ready just let them know. I had nooooo idea what to get so I got the Special (Kalbi, BBQ chicken, Meet juhn, Tempura things) and a Meat Jun plate. Yelp had an awesome check-in offer so every plate came with 3 free mandoo! Sweeeet :) I paid $17 for the two plates, and within less than 5 minutes my food was ready! The portions are GENEROUS and the food is really good. I particularly liked the kalbi. It was sweet and charred and delicious! Suck-the meat-off-the-bones Mmm Mmm good! I'm totally a fan. Any place that can combine friendly and FAST service, large portions, and good food, is a-ok in my book. Don't forget to check yelp for awesome check-in deals. :) I'll be back soon to try their other offerings. Can't wait to try their katsu!

This is a small little hole in the wall joint with great prices and excellent service. $3.95 for breakfast, 2 eggs, 2 scoops rice, meat of your choice AND coffee. Come on, THAT's a deal! Lunches are on average, about $8 and pretty hefty if you ask me. The owners are super friendly and nice. They seem to take the time to recognize and remember their loyal patrons. That's ALWAYS a plus in my book. We went for lunch and ordered the fried chicken. The batter has a slightly (very slightly) spice taste. It comes out a deep red-ish brown. The chicken was juicy and the breading was crisp. You get your choice of 4 sides and rice (ALWAYS rice in Hawaii!!) . My friend ordered a whole half tray for us so I could make a bento for the plane ride back to L.A.!!! Parking is rough during typical breakfast and lunch hours, the lot is limited and small. If you need to poddy, ask for the key, but don't get lost. You have to run outside to the back and then make your way through the fence. It's weird, but you'll get it when you see it.

  • Del D.

If you guys only knew how many times I've been here over the years!! So there is a little biased in my opinion of this joint, however everyone I've ever brought here still comes here. On this trip I was welcomed the same as everyone else with a smile, eye contact, and a greeting. Orders are taken pretty quickly and with a good attitude. I ordered the BBQ chicken and meat jun combo with all veggies no rice. Usually, the meal comes with 4 veggie choices (banchan) and rice, but you can sacrifice the rice for an additional veggie choice. Very accommodating. BBQ chicken has a nice marinade which is not overly sweet. Chicken isn't juicy nor is it meant to be. But it's still soft not chewy. Side sauces are available for dipping and if you want the chicken stronger just ask. Meat Jun is outstanding. Mild flavor with a hint of a sweet marinade on the meat. The egg and beef don't separate and fall apart which is a nice bonus. Meat is soft and melts in your mouth. Mmmmmmm!! Tons of sides available but I went with Cucumber Kim chee, Kim chee, choy sum, bean sprouts, and tofu. All good. Overall, I got a massive amount of food for $8.50. Needles to say portion is great, service is outstanding, food quality is great, and just a great value. As an example that makes this place unique if you're eating there and ask for water you get a nice large cup of water in a hard plastic restaurant style cup. It's really the little things right.

Catering/Delivery Review Doing food ordering for a monthly office meeting can be really difficult, especially since we need to get delivery only and the delivery charge needs to be less than $15... Best Drive In waived their $50 delivery fee for us (since we ordered a decent amount) and delivered on time and with great customer service. It was also little details like providing plates, and delivering the vegetable sides over a pan of ice so it'd stay cold and fresh and cutting the kal-bi into family style sized pieces that made the difference for me. The food was also really good! We ordered the fish jun which "sold out" at the meeting and the vegetable tempura was also highly complimented - it wasn't oily at all and was like a thick, layered "brick" looking thing that reminded me of sweet potato fries but with additional yummy vegetables. The Tofu stir fry and cucumber kim chee was probably my favorite though : ) Overall great food, prices, and customer service.

Place almost lives up to its name. Almost. But ill admit, they have really friendly service, great Korean food, and great value. They also open early for those that work in the area so they can pickup lunch ahead of time. I love the mean jun, fish jun, and chicken. Parking isn't as bad as it used to be since west marine moved out. Overall, not exactly the best, but it's good enough for me.

~~ Here's the fast list of things to know.~~ * Tasty food! * Great prices! * Small family type restaurant * Staff is so nice! I would recommend to try this place out! ~~ Details~~ I found this place when I had to do an errand around here and being hungry. So what did I do? Look on Yelp of course! Best Drive-In was rated pretty high for the area I was in so I went there. * The Best Special $8.95 BBQ chicken, Meat Jun, Kal-Bi and your standard korean take-out restaurant 4 choice vegetables. The chicken was delicious and the Kal-Bi was tender and tasty. The meat jun was soft and they had terrific sauce. -- Other Notes When I was about to complete my order I showed them a Yelp! coupon that you can get 6 free mandoo. They were surprised because it was only for a limited time. But they made no real fuss about it and happily gave me the 6 mandoo! I was stoked! They were so nice. The one guy who was working in the front was so friendly. The other lady working had to leave but before she left she said thank you and good-bye to every single customer in there. Awesome friendly service and great food for a great price.

Best Drive-In has many good things going here, several strengths: Sides are good, like shooting fish in a barrel, it's all good. Warning, their kim chee is hotter than others. Fish jun is done well, with the right amount used for egg batter. According to my mother in law, kalbi is better than the other korean places, very tasty, the beef is very tender. Prices are reasonable, between $7 to $10 for most plates and the portions are very filling. The service is very nice and friendly, the man is always cheerful and happy. The only bad thing I can say is that the location is out of the way at Sand Island, typically don't go here unless I'm in the area. Recommended!

Always a must stop after a long surf session at Sand Island Beach. That was 15 yrs ago, now a once a month must stop for lunch. The food is still awesome. Very generous with meat, sides and rice. Meat Jun is delicious but my favorite and the one that runs out if you get there after 1230 is the shoyu chicken. Just falls off the bones. The staff is super friendly. UH supporters with pics of Colt and Timmy on the wall. Can't go wrong.

Best Drive in is a hole in the wall like only Hawaii knows how to make them. Unassuming, family owned, friendly and welcoming service, and of course, delicious food. In the time we were there, we saw the owners greet so many people by their first name we lost count. I had the Kalbi, which was tasty and not greasy, and all the sides are really good, even though I prefer the tofu sauce from Family BBQ, but eh, personal preference! Oh and it's a bit less expensive than other places for lunch plates.

I'm not sure how long this place has been open. What puzzles me even more is the fact that I'm not sure why I haven't come here sooner. While I was getting my tire replaced across the street at Rex's I decided to wander around to grab some lunch while waiting for my car to be finished. I randomly stopped at Best Drive-In and ordered a meat jun and bbq chicken combo. It came with a huge amount of meat jun and chicken. I was also given a choice of four vegetables to go along with it and a heap or white rice. Everything on that plate was awesome. The chicken had that amazing smokiness to it, the meat jun was expertly coated and cooked and I was amazed at how well all the veggies tasted. I couldn't finish it all, and I would have to tip my hat to any fellow that could! I'll definitely be back. They have many items on their extensive menu. And if they are all as good as what I initially tried, I'm in good hands.

Three key points: Friendly owners. As mentioned before, the workers (at least the two that were there) were both friendly, warm, and inviting. A definite star there. Four vegetable choices with a regular plate lunch. A regular plate lunch costs about the same price as your typical plate lunch place, but 4 veggie choices w/a regular plate means more variety for yo eyes, nose, and mouf. I didn't realize how crucial a fourth vegetable choice was until I had it, and now, three choices seems almost archaic. Plus, I got 3 free man doo with a Yelp check in! One mo star. As the food was quite good (I'm only hesitating to say "at least two stars good" because that sounds demeaning to the food, it was delish, and definitely in the three stars + range). Got the meat jun plate. Was in and out quickly on a Thursday around 12:30pm. Place is clean, about 8 tables. A few different people ordered the spicy chicken wings while I waited for my order, seems like a popular item. YADADIMEAN

Once in a blue moon, you come across something special. Best Drive-in is one of those times. As a Medical Sales Rep. I use Best for my Educational In-services and social party's. They provide Great food and deliver anywhere on the island! Dan and his crew are true professionals at what they do! Last week Saturday I hosted a surprise 60th Birthday Party and used Best Drive-in. For under $10.00 a head I got Kalbi, Meat jun, Fish jun, BBQ chicken, BBQ meat, Zukini and four sides! Now that's VALUE! They even provied all the paper goods and chafing dish's. Thanks Best Drive-in. You are the BEST!

I love the people that work here. They're always friendly when I go in. One time when I phoned in an order, they automatically knew it was me who phoned it in, even though it was only my second or third time! Unless I'm that unforgettable, I give them props for that. Lol. I'll break my review into two sections (because I'm lazy): service and food. Service As I stated, they are warmest people ever. They're also funny too. Always smiling when I go. They're quick to get to help you even though there's a line (unless someone in front of you is ordering 50 plates), and food comes out really fast. I called in a phone order for four plates and it was ready in 15 mins. Food Great servings of food! Plentiful! And as a Korean person word say it: ! (delicious)! I recommend the Best Special, even though there is WAY TOO MUCH FOOD. LOL. That's a good thing though, right? I also enjoy the bi bim kook soo. It's very refreshing yet spicy. My mouth waters just thinking of it. All their vegetables taste really good and they even offer you brown rice, which I prefer. All in all, great place, great workers, great food: 5 stars. Simple as that.

I like the concept of mom and pop businesses and truly want to encourage them but this one just fell flat despite how nice the owner is, the food quality is just not there. The meat jun at Kim Chee III is waaayyyy better. I'm sorry.

I had a project out here for a few months, and I ended up eating here almost every day. Best Drive-In truly lives up to its name! Food: Restaurant quality in a mixed plate to go! They have the best side dishes, especially the shoyu and mayo potatoes and choy sum. Having such great side dishes lets them make a KILLER bibimbap! I've also had their sundubu, kalbi, and meat jun, all of which I found delicious. I honestly think that Best's food is better than a lot of sit-down Korean restaurants I've been to. It's THAT good. Service: Friendly, funny, quick. The same man is usually taking and filling orders at the front. He's really engaging and fun to joke around with. He made me feel like a regular after just two visits. The guy will bring you your food and a glass of water at your table, which I feel is pretty uncommon for most drive-ins. He made great recommendations and even offered to customize one of their soups by making it hot for me on a cold, rainy day. "Of course I can make it hot, I'm Korean!" he told me. Venue: The food outdoes the setting. There are about 5 or 6 tables that can seat 4. The place is kept tidy but is definitely a drive in. I would compare the atmosphere to the take-out seating found at most Zippy's restaurants. Parking can be tricky and this place gets pretty busy around lunch time. Good luck getting around all of the haul trucks that block the parking spots. This is probably my favorite Korean drive in on Oahu. Definitely check it out!

I'm usually on the road to work at some un-godly hour in the morning. Most mornings are routine and uneventful. Today, however, started off a bit more entertaining. My wallet is at home, safe and warm where I forgot it. I'm tired, slightly hungover, hungry and worst of all, I only managed to find about $4 in change in my car (I can't even get a drink at Sbux for that!?). Aside from a much needed hug and something to soak up the remnants of last night's post Halloween celebration with Jack D. (in a bottle), I'm good. Open at 5 am. Monday through Friday, Best Drive-In is one those early morning places that I like to go and eat breakfast, as well as get something for lunch. Unlike most Korean food places, this one has an okazuya - fried chicken, hamburger steak, gravy and onions, assorted musubis and bentos, just to name a few. Okazuya prices are very reasonable, 3 to 7 items will run about $5 to $7, respectively. Though everything here looks great, today I'm here on a budget. I'm here for the Breakfast Special - 2 eggs, choice of meat, rice AND coffee. All within my price range at only $3.50. Sweet! On days when I do have a little more than today's whopping 1-figure budget, I sometimes come here for lunch. Favorites are the Best Drive-In Special (Meat Jun, BBQ Chicken, Kalbi, Fish and Mandoo) and the Kalbi and Spicy Pork Combo, but not today! :( As for my much needed hug? The owner lady and other workers are the nicest people ever to be awake at this time of morning. No, I didn't get a hug, but treat me right and that'll do just as well. Besides, a hug would probably leave me smelling like kim chee all day (I kid! I kid!).

Love this place. This place makes my weekly rounding of plate lunch joints. Got a kalbi plate and a bunch of musubis. VERY ONO! The owner honored our yelp free mandoo deal and gave us the musubis cheap since it was the end of the day. All the meats were cooked perfectly and all the sides and veggies were solid.

When I see a 5 Star I immediately wonder if it can really be that good. There's 5 Star for being the very best in a dining experience, but there is also a 5 Star for just being the best in your niche. Best Drive-In is the best in the casual Hawaii okazuya category. They have the standard okazuya menu with noodles, breakfast, and plate lunches. They feature Japanese bento and Korean plate lunches. When you order, you can select a meat item and add some sides. Everything is so ono. We had our first taste of meat jhun and it was ok. I was more impressed with my Kalbi. I can see why all of the local folk go the BDI. It's the kind of place you can eat several times a week and not get tired of it.
