Really really good authentic Korean food! The bi bim kook soo is THE best on island! We eat here all da time! My favorite is the spicy pork. OMG Broke da mouth!!!! The kalbi is usually really tender. The BBQ chicken is really good and tasty. They give a good amount of food for the price. Their sides are right in front of you to choose from. A mini gives you 2 sides, a regular gives you 4 sides. They are always fresh and tasty.

The take out foam box is very big! Whatever I order I request for no rice and get an extra vegetable choice. The vendor is located between the local plate lunch and mini garden stalls. I usually get the mix or just a bbq chicken. I love eating the cartilage on chicken bone and barbque99 has recently been leaving bone on the chicken! Price is a bit much for my preference of quality but its convinient to all other food vendors if you decide to go there on a day you are extra hungry!

So apparently the tako salad was a daily/seasonal/whimsical/temporary dish that got rotated out already. -sad face- Came here yesterday for lunch. Spicy chicken this time! Flavor seemed deeper, but very yum and still big portions! C-worker says their fried spicy chicken wings are made fresh and are really good! Will be back to try it next time!

I love Barbque 99 for their meat jun. They make their meat jun just right not too dry and not too oily and it's pre-cut so you don't have to make a mess. I also like their side dishes. You can tell they put pride into their food. Side dishes are nicely presented. One of my favorite is the radish (pickled daikon). It's not spicy but refreshing. The only small thing is the counter lady isn't usually too friendly but that's no problem. She does her job. I can understand being stuck in one place probably all day ain't no fun. She's always there. This place is located inside Moanalua 99 near Servco Honolulu. Meat jun anyone?

Tried this place for the first time a couple weeks ago, the same time I visited Kansai Yamato. I ordered the bbq chicken. The food was okay but, I still prefer Pearls, Peppa's, or Yummys! This place is cash only, which can be an inconvenience. Overall, this place has decent Korean food.

Convenient. Tasty food. Affordable prices. Decent service. I think these short but meaningful statements best describe my recent visit to Barbeque 99 for lunch. LOCATION: Barbeque 99 is located within the foodcourt at Moanalua 99 (the former 99 Ranch Market). Parking is plentiful as the parking lot extends from the driveway to the other side of the building where Wah Kung Restaurant is located. MENTION: I think I'd classify this establishment as your "standard" Korean food takeout place, i.e. following in the tradition of Yummy Korean BBQ. They offer the usual/standard bbq chicken and meat jun, along with mini plates or combination plates as well. Vegetable sides and offerings include bean sprouts, kim chee, mac salad, and shoyu potatoes. ORDER: Since I'm a huge, huge fan of meat jun (dare I say I judge a Korean place solely on how good their meat jun is), I've only ordered their regular plate on recent visits. The regular meat jun plate is priced at $8.95, and includes 2 scoops of rice and your choice of 4 sides. I also ordered a small drink, which put my total near $11. My order was ready in roughly 5 minutes (perhaps slightly less) from the time it was placed. And the VERDICT: The meat jun was good. Quite tasty actually. And the sauce they provide was a perfect complement to the meal as well. SERVICE: Decent. They're not overly friendly, but at least they're quick! I'll admit to speediness of the sides being placed in my "to go" plate, as well as it being packaged with utensils and napkins in a bag. NOTE: CASH ONLY. Bottom Line: Convenient. Decent food. Affordable. I'll certainly be back.

I've had problems with Barbque 99 in the past, owner not wanting to sell me cold noodles from service counter, etc. I would forgive and return. BUT not this time. My food was given to another woman who took it away (out of building) and when she returned with it, I refused to take it. Not comfortable with the food that was taken out of sight, I refused to take it. I was BULLIED into taking the food by the worker and the woman who took the food (seems they knew each other.) Is this ethical for a food business???

Eh I've got mixed feelings about this place. Our office usually does phone orders during lunch time and I have the pleasure of calling in all the orders. When I do call in phone orders its usally around 1045ish and the lady that always answers the phone is very rude. She should be a bit nicer since we are making about 6-8 plate lunches and I try not to be rude back because I do not want anything happening to our orders. Moving on to the food... not my 1st choice in Korean Food but the location is very convient especially working around Keehi Lagoon Area. This place has a mixture of Korean and BBQ food, I usally just stick to ordering Bi BIm Bap. Their version is a little weird, they add watercress to it and I do not care for that vegetable, I've never ate it besides ordering it here. It was quite bitter and sour so I always make sure I order it without the watercress. But I do know if you order regular plates you can choose from 4 different sides. Such as tofu, watercress, corn, mac salad, cabbage, noodles, and etc. Like I said before eh the veggies seem a little too hmm.. generic for me. The prices are not that reasonable here for a mini plate it is still a pricey $6-7 and the portions are not fulfilling enough to spend that much. As far as the parking goes, there are a lot of parking stalls just be prepared to squeeze into it. The service is the deciding factor and I would love to rate it on the food but its hard to pass that.

Every other week I visit Barbeque 99 to grab Korean take-out for my family. I spend a good two hours sitting and waiting with my very aggressive toddler, while my two older children finish their gymnastics classes. By the time we get home around 7:30 pm, I don't have the time or energy to make dinner. The only thing I've ever purchased from Barbeque 99 is their chicken plate which comes with two scoops of white rice and four sides for a little under $10. I know this might seem pricey but you really get enough for two meals. I usually order two plates, one for me and my children to share and one for my boyfriend. My son is an extremely picky eater and enjoys their chicken immensely. I really like their vegetable sides which I find to be well seasoned and although simple, very satisfying. Sometimes I just eat the sides with rice and don't even bother with the chicken. In the evenings when I visit there is the same Korean lady who takes my order. She's not very friendly and her attitude could almost be taken as hostile. The first time I bought a plate, I almost expected her to yell "No sides for you!" in Soup Nazi fashion, because I couldn't decide what sides to get. I do think that I'm slowly wearing her down though because I could have sworn she half smiled at me the other day. But I could have been mistaken and she might still find me completely annoying. If you're in a rush I recommend calling in your order ahead of time because it might take awhile if it's a busy. I usually pay for my food, choose my sides and take my daughter to the bathroom. I don't know why she always takes so long, but inevitably by the time we emerge from the restrooms, our food is wrapped and ready to go. If you're stuck at 99 Ranch this is definitely one of the better choices for a decent and healthful meal. Give my Korean lady a hug and tell her I love her. I like this place for a quick lunch. When I say quick it has to be taken into consideration that I usually only order the veggie plate. I was reading Emi H.'s review and giggleing when I read taht she thought the lady that works there is "not very friendly and her attitude could almost be taken as hostile" I think I have the same lady most of the time for lunch. She seems to ahve become more and more friendly over the times that I have been there. The lady seems to know me because I'm there often and order the same thing. She knows that I order a veggie plate with no rice (means I get 5 choices for veggies instead of 4). I usually will get beansprouts, watercrest, cabbage, broccoli, and some sort of kimchee. Because there is no cooking...there is no wait. With that I still have time to run over to Bees for a bubble drink. I'm a fan of Barbque 99. 31 Yelps #10 (still catching up....getting there)

Great spicy chicken wings and flavorful sides of which you can choose (4)! Walking away with your take-out plate lunch feels like the bag weighs 5 pounds - it's that heavy! Good, solid Korean take-out. Don't expect the counter wait help to smile; it doesn't matter if she knows you or not! No smile, only business...

Fish jun the size of your face! Yay for food you measure by body parts! We love it here. The 99 Special plate is our drug of choice. Been going here for a couple years, but just never reviewed it (my bad). PROs: +The Special is nuts for value. Huge piece of fish jun, kalbi, teri chicken, two big a** scoops rice, two mandoo, and 4 banchan of your choice for less than 12 bucks? YEEEEAHHH! I share with the little guy, and still am full after just 1/3 of the plate. This sucker makes 3 meals, easy. +Teri chicken always has good char, good size, is soft, and has great taste. +Fave sides are the watercress (not too sour, nice and crunchy), beansprouts (they give a good amount, and are seasoned but not too much), broccoli and carrots (fresh, steamed and lightly seasoned with a vinegary back to them), and the seaweed (not too briny, a nice size for chopsticks, and even the baby chows down on it). Mac salad is also good. +Refillable fountain drinks (.50 small/.75 med/1.00 large)! +Paleo/riceless option--if you want another side instead of the rice, they'll do that at no charge. My mom asked for that once, and they were more than willing to do it. It's not on the menu, but they were super sweet to accommodate her. +Fast, fast, fast--always just a few minutes wait, and they have seats in the front. +Service--they always remember to ask about chopsticks or forks, and always include a little Styrofoam plate for the baby if they see us there with him. +They are NICE. Yes, I said it. I dunno...but the first time we went, they were kind of all business, but we just talked to them and introduced them to the baby, who was eyeballing the seaweed like crazy. And they are really killer nice. We go and even when the baby's not there they ask about him! Always the same ladies, always the same feeling like you're going to your aunty's house to eat. It's our favorite place in 99 Moanalua. +Solid Korean food, like the other reviewers said. The plate is massive, and you really feel like you did get what you wanted. CONs: -Cash only. But there's an ATM just in the front door by the Flamingo Express ($2.50 fee at this writing if you're not a member of that bank); short 1 minute walk away. Not a deal breaker at all--we just go with cash. We LOOOOOVE this place. Good clean tasty food with veggies, homey mom-and-pop shop, super nice ladies who remember you, and fast, consistent delivery. We go back regularly, and will probably do so until they shut the doors.

Go ahead and make fun of me if you want. I'm a somewhat simple guy who enjoys the somewhat simple things in life. One prime example of this is the food that I like to eat. Simple food with simple names amuse me. I like it when my spicy ahi is spicy. I love it when my crispy chicken is crispy. I love the fact that my salt and pepper steak has been seasoned with only salt and pepper. Garlic fries have garlic added to them. A hot dog is indeed served anything but cold. So it comes to no surprise that I've been infatuated with Barbque 99's Ono chicken. Guess why? Yeah... it's Ono. It gets better every time I eat it. For $8 you get a plate full of it along with your choice of four side dishes. The ladies that work there are even generous to dump some of the Ono chicken's sauce over your steamed rice and that in itself is a party for your taste buds. I'm not sure how long they're been in business since they don't have many reviews. I hope this one somewhat inspires you to stop by and taste it for yourself. Just be careful during lunch since a lot of the military personnel also stop by the ranch to eat here and other various establishments.
