Diabetics at Jamba Juice:

Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. If you're diabetic and concerned about the sugar intake, then you can opt for the smaller 9.5-ounce smoothies available for kids at Jamba Juice.

Foods to Avoid at Jamba Juice for Diabetics:

Jamba Juice is primarily known for its highly satisfying and nutritive smoothies and juices. Almost every smoothie and juice item on the Jamba Juice menu contains sugar. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.

Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

Love this Bale! Especially on weekends when they put out the free tapioca desserts. Friendlier service..always a plus. My favorite is the pho combo. I've only found it at this Bale, and it's awesome!

I really liked this Bale, it's definitely better than other Bales around the island *cough cough Kahala Mall cough* This restaurant is spacious, clean and bright with plenty of food options and plenty of tables. I liked that the parking situation is relatively good; they share a parking lot with a few other establishments. I like that the workers are local; I can understand them, they can understand me, everything's good! I like that there i such a variety of things to order; I'm pretty sure Bale is franchised. This means that not all Bales are created equally. This location has a huge menu that includes very appetizing sounding Thai food. I'll have to come back to get some look funn (pad see ewe). I like that there is so much seating available. Even during lunch hour, the place was packed, but the turn over is high because you order your food at the counter first. Get in, eat, get out. I had the lemongrass chicken sandwich and the boyfriend had a combination plate. I also had a thai iced tea. YUM! The sandwich was above average in quality. Huge, as usual, with veggies and perfectly made french bread. I ate half and took half home. If I find myself near the airport, looking for somewhere to eat, I'll probably be back.

I have been here several times this month. And have no complaints. Don't let the name fool you. Bale is know for their sandwiches and Vietnamese menu. This location has changed owner & the new management has decided to add Thai cuisine to the menu. Let me tell you they do Thai food good. Panang curry is full of flavor. The Pad Thai noddles are fresh, garnished, and served perfect. I love the lemon grass chicken sandwich. The bread is always fresh. The yellow curry is also prepared well. Bale adds much needed variety to the airport industrial area. With so many businesses close by. They should do well.

That time when... I'm craving a sandwich from Ba-Le! Luckily I knew there was a Ba-Le near the place I'm at so we walked over. It is a hot walk (during noon). It looked full when we walked in but we got a table for two. Ordered their Ba-Le chicken, they asked if I wanted a glass of water since I was dining in. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/ba-l… ). SO GOOD, I forgot how good it was. Of course the lady that took my order came by and asked, "Did you order the pho?" No ma'am I did not. Lol, then again maybe I should've said yes? The table we sat at had sauces and whatnot, for pho and other dishes. They served us our dishes as they got them ready. The plate it was on, though it fit the sandwich itself, I thought it was too small as I divided my sandwich in two. Also ordered a honeydew bubble drink. I don't think it was powder. Tasted wonderful. But the pearls were stuck together and it was difficult to stuck up through the straw. This Ba-Le accepts card!

  • Nia R.

The only reason I go to Ba-Le is for the sandwiches and pho. And when I tell you it's amazing, it never lets me down. The sandwiches has this tangy taste from the pickled vegetables paired with the teriyaki beef. The pho tastes amazing. I get mine with meatballs and brisket..... Yummy meal that you can have on a hot and cold day.

This is by far, my favorite Thai/Vietnamese place to eat! They have a menu for Vietnamese and Thai food. I got the combination plate which has garlic shrimp and lemongrass chicken with a fried spring roll. I was a little skeptical about getting the lemongrass chicken but it was so good. The place is a little small but the food makes up for it. Just try it, you won't be disappointed!!!

Always good food. Everything on the menu so far is good n well portioned. Been eating here for 18 years.

  • Holly B.

While the food is OK, the language barrier is a definite problem. I thought I was very clear that I wamted shrimp pad kee mao, even referring to the photo on the wall under their counter. When I got home, it was chicken. And my sandwich was on a croissant for which they charged me extra because they ran out of french bread; I guess that was what the man was trying to explain when I ordered my sandwich but was totally unclear to me! I shouldn't have to pay extra because they run out of bread or they should CLEARLY explain that that is what they're going to do instead of assuming that's what I want...NO, I don't like sandwiches on croissants! The bread is too soft to hold the sandwich filling together and falls apart before you can finish it! Getting my order totally wrong is not good customer service.

Good location, near the airport. A nice selection of items on the menu. I had the lemongrass chicken sandwich and beef pho. Both were tasty and filling. There's ample parking, and the staff was friendly.

If there was ever an average Ba Le circulating the globe, this might just be the poster child. Nearly every major city in the US with a decent Viet community will inevitably have a banh mi spot called Ba Le. all serving virtually the same thing. Like all Ba Le's I've encountered, this is just as dingy, just as remote, and just as middle of the road as the rest. My usual banh mi dac biet, is of supbar quality - nothing overly impressive ingredient wise and with baguettes that are more dry than steaming fresh. The pickled veggies and cha lua were adequate, but certainly forgettable. It's not out of the ordinary to ask for more fixins in this case, be it more garlic, jalapeno, or an extra slab of pate, but that wasn't in the cards this time around. The other issue is that nothing else is outstanding either. Everything from the pho to the rice dishes are just C grade quality and that includes other appetizers like goi cuon / cha gio as well. They all just seem to be missing the extra ingredient that puts it in good standing. The banh mi has bread issues, the pho has broth issues, and there is a bland element in virtually everything. I can't put my finger on it, but even MSG at this point sounds good. Prices are fair for Honolulu and the service isn't anything to toot any horns about. If there is anything worth getting here, it might actually be the bubble tea. I had a really decent taro bubble tea here not long ago and a solid avocado shake to boot.

Our goto Thai place for lunch next to the airport, great speedy service. Food is great!

  • Cindy B.

This place has decent food. I usually order pho with rare meat. A little cheap on the amount of meat given. My sister orders their tofu bahn mi and has never complained about it. The reason I am giving two stars is that I went here twice during their opening time and they were both closed. Waited outside for 20 minutes and finally opened their door. Haven't gone back since.

Fabulous place to eat. Very good quality food and best papaya salad in island. Remember when asking for spice there is a difference between Thai hot and American.

Finally really checked out Ba Le (Vietnamese food shop chain in Hawaii) after scouting the location at Ward. Not sure why it took me more than a a year of living in Hawaii before discovering Ba Le. This particular Ba Le location seems to have fewer options as far as dessert stuff (my weakness, could OD on that), but still was able to take away some mango tapioca and taro tapioca. My banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich with French influence): filled with tofu, pickled carrots and daikon, cilantro inside a baguette. I ate the sandwich essentially on the summit of Pauao Ridge during a long all-day epic hike along KST from Waikane to Pauao. Sandwich was still delicious and satisfying even nearly 24 hours after purchase from the shop, 7 of those hours being carried around in my backpack without refrigeration (still rocked it!). Great balance of salty, sour, and good. Even my hiking partner enjoyed the little bit I let him have :o). So I'll be be back again, maybe to enjoy a fresher experience with the banh mi. I'll just overlook the non-vegan deal, still vegetarian though!

  • Teresa G.

This location just recently had a change in ownership. The new owners, I believe are Thai (are maybe part Thai). They kept the all the stuff from the old menu but have added a small section for Thai food. I tried the shrimp pad tai and it tasted good. I thought that the price was kind of high compared to other places that had better quality and more portion. The service is good, but if you are ordering take out I would recommend calling in your order before you get there to avoid the wait time. It can take awhile to get your food if you don't call it in.

As you can probably tell from my reviews, I love pho. Have to have it at least 2x a week. When I searched for pho spots in Mapunapuna, there are basically just 2: 99 Diem and Ba Le. I have been enjoying the 99 Diem pho for a few months until I stumbled upon Ba Le on Nimitz. I am not sure if these folks are Vietnamese (since I have tried to speak Vietnamese to them, but get confused looks) but they make a dayum good bowl of pho. Portions are large and they provide an abundant plate of fresh basil & bean sprouts. Their banh mi sandwiches are also very good, and they are not shy on the pate. I always get the special pho or the combo banh mi--easy pate. Ba Le is a little further for me and I have to drive there, but if I am craving a sit-down pho restaurant experience without having to make the trek to Chinatown, I go here. Come to think of it, Ba Le's pho can compete with some of the best in Chinatown. I think their other customers agree, as they get a decent lunch crowd and their clientele is consistent. Great find!

This is an update to my previous review on this location. I realized why I loved their pho broth better than any other BaLe location, it's because of all the MSG they use! I visited this location last week and I got a really bad headache. It never occurred to me until now that they probably do use a lot of MSG in their broth, which makes it very tasty! I'll need to take a break from this place for a bit. I'll probably go back, but i'll probably avoid the pho and try something else.

Food doesn't justify price. Food taste old,and bland. Coworker was gonna rip them a new one when she got her plate. $9.50 for a spicy squid plate 90% rice.

Ok. When came to this spot I had been on island for a week. I was excited to get some Banh mi, but you walk in and its kinda like a hole in the wall, the menu was limited and it seem to have items that are not normally found in Banh mi like lemongrass chicken which by the way I ordered and you could tell it was OLD. This seems to cater to the American pallet which is a shame. I visited Vietnam 4 years ago, and got a fresh banh mi off the street from a vendor and I can say this does not compare. I know its a franchise on the island so I'm willing to give the other location a try but I won't come back to this one. Parking is not great, of course the lots are small, we have an SUV we went in with no one parked on either side of us, came back and the cars were parked so close my husband couldn't get in either side of the door. If we didn't have anything in the back he probably could've crawled in that way, plus I had my 4 month old...so we had to wait for the owner(s) to come out for them to move. Yea so if you have a truck park a little farther away from the building and make sure you don't have a little one to put in the carseat if you are driving solo. HORRIBLE.

It's a Sandwich Shop, but it's not really a Sandwich Shop. A very good Thai restaurant....A very good Vietnamese Pho Shop....this place has many identities. The one common factor is that the food is good. I end all my meals here with tapioca for dessert. My personal favorite is taro tapioca or coconut. Not really a Bubble tea kind-of-guy, but they serve that as well. I have more fun shooting the Bubbles through the straw more so than eating them.

"Jack of All Trades, Master of None"- is how I would describe this place. Bale Thai & Sandwiches have all types of cuisines- Thai Vietnamese And American (And may even be French for the Eiffel Towel logo for some chains I.E in Maui) Located off Nmitz Highway; close to other small restaurants, car rental companies and best western. I noticed their menu, I was pretty shocked; they advertise a specific cuisine AND MORE. Now, I'm not exactly sure if I'm the only one who can see what's wrong with this picture. I came here for Thai food (because I assumed it was a Thai restaurant) and it was alright. Although it wasn't bad, it wasn't really the best either. My friend ordered wings which tasted like fried wings seasoned w/ salt and pepper. Prices are a bit higher compared to others but not a whole lot, I assume it's because of where it's located (near the airport and car rentals). Customer service is okay; although it might be hindered due to the language barrier. For Thai cravings, I recommend Siam Kitchen off Kam Highway towards Pearl City.

Ba-Le Sandwich Shop is not my normal stomping grounds. I am normally a boring burgers and pizza kind of guy. But as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, I have had to eat at times food that I would never have chosen and there are times that I will go out of my way to get something that I really want to eat. Ba-Le is way in the middle of those two extremes. I won't go out of my way to go here, but I won't throw a tantrum if someone wants to eat here. Which is the case for me often. I normally have to go here to this Ba-le when I am with others. They love pho and the crunchy thai sandwiches. I can eat sandwiches. So I go with a meat that is normal to me and I know there will be slice carrots and other vegs. I don't put the spicy sauces that come with it but I keep it real... I just go into the sandwich and eat. Other reviews are right, this Ba-le is nicer than others, those Ba-le downtown can be dirty and unkempt. Here is nice enough place to sit down and enjoy eating.

This review is for their Thai menu, we have yet to try any of their Vietnamese dishes. Service is friendly and fast, we always do takeout though so not sure how it is in store. I have had the Basil Chicken which was really tasty but oh so hot! Also, the Tom Kha which is always a favorite for me. Both I would have again, though the Basil Chicken I would make sure to say very mild, ha! Hubby has had yellow and massaman curries and loved both as well. One of the times we ordered the sticky rice it was REALLY sticky. Like gummy rice, but still worked with the curry and I even put some in the soup. Would go again for easy takeaway choice.

3.5 stars. I've only ever had their banh mi and it's never disappointed but it's never mindblowing either. I always get the pate with extra pickles. Quick, cheap lunch: check!

I'm glad this place is within walking distance of our hotel. We've eaten here twice and will be back again. The selection is great. There is a variety of asian foods to choose from. I've had a couple dishes off the Thai menu and my wife has had Thai and Pho. All the dishes have been extremely satisfying. The price is good too. I REALLY like the fresh ingrediants. The veggies are fresh and crisp, and the basil is so freeking good I can eat it right off the stem. English is the second language here, if you can even say second. Point at the menu while you're ordering to get what you want.

I seriously feel like my blood pressure is soaring through the roof right now. I had the Tofu Choy Sum for lunch today. There was so much salt on my veggies, I was chugging my water like there was no tomorrow. No, I didn't send my dish back. I come here all the time and I didn't want to be a jerk. I should probably let you know that I have a passionate love affair with salt. Really I do. So if I think something is salty -- it is way too salty. Of everything that I have tried here, I come back to the same conclusion: only order the Tofu-Veggie Panang Curry or the Tofu Bah-mi. (I'm pescatarian. Bear with me). Those dishes are actually delicious. I've tried the Veggie Tofu Curry, Papaya Salad and various other vegetarian dishes. They're not great. This is probably a great place if you love meat. The service here is good. If you are in a hurry, call in your order. It gets crowded. Please excuse me while I go drink another gallon of water.

Update: 06/10/2015 Ordered their steamed pork sandwich. I'm in search of the best Vietnamese sandwich on Oahu and these guys are in contention. Stay tuned for more sandwich visits to other places. :-) Original Post: 11/17/2014 Came here for lunch today. The sandwiches all looked tempting, but I ordered their basil chicken to go. Figured this place was good when I walked in. .. they were very busy during Monday lunch. The lady behind the counter handled everything very well and I have to say.... This chicken tastes great. I'll be back!

Right now this location is our favorite pho go to place! Love it that the broth always tastes the same and it's tasty. There is new management from a few months ago and the workers are friendly, treat you like old friends and family. Would have given them 5 stars but the parking area sucks and they don't open on Sundays but I guess not much customer traffic on Sundays cause its in an industrial area.

Had my very first bowl of pho today. I tried the Pho Special, the one with every thing in it, including tendon and testicles. I was very impressed with the taste and boy, was it filling. I will definitely go back and order it again!

Love getting my spicy lemongrass chicken sandwich for take-out. Bahn mi style with pickled radish/carrots, cilantro, mayo, sriracha. Always a winner when I need portable food to go! Especially on my way to go hiking. They are always friendly and quick. Sometimes they have palmier cookies from La Tour on the counter for sale. Love those! Like eating sweetened crispy pastry crust! Especially tasty with fresh made Vietnamese iced coffee.

I really enjoy my lunches at/from Ba-Le Sandwich Shop. When I dine in, I order Lemongrass Chicken (not the sandwich, the meal). It's very good, inexpensive and a generous serving. When I order to go, I get their Avocado Sandwich. Also very good and a good value. Just don't try to eat it in your car. The tasty French loaves that they make them on produce A LOT of crumbs! They're worth the mess. More so, if you make your delicious Ba-Le Sandwich into a delicious Ba-Le picnic by eating it outside where the birds and ants can enjoy all the crumbs. The dinning room itself is in need of a serious cleaning and/or remodeling. It certainly doesn't feel new and clean. Honestly, I like the food; so I try not to look too hard at or think too hard about the state of Ba-Le Sandwich Shop. That works for me.

you don't have much choices around here. I come to the Ba-Le on nimitz. Hwy. I like the No. 2 combo. lemon grass chicken teri meat combo. But today I noticed less meat & chicken. AND THE PRICE WENT UP. $ 8.90. And to much rice. But taste is good. Must be the MSG. LOL I'll still come back. Haven't tried the sandwich yet.

Special combo pho? Whatever it was, it was delicious. Broth tasted right, lots of noodles, and variety of cow parts! The steak slices come raw! They must have high confidence in the temperature of their soup which I can happily report it is. Tried their pate and ham? sandwich. Was decent. BF said their ba-le chicken sandwich sauce wasn't right (He loves the Monterey Park, CA location). Lunch time was hopping! If I worked closer to here and had more money, I would definitely be back more often. Decent Viet place in the midst of industrial area.

Finding it was a little difficult it's in the business complex by the airport off Nimitz Hwy. There were lots of parking available however I think I came during rush hour (noon). I had to wait in line and order and pay then snatch the first available seat and they delivered the food on a pretty timely manner. Their system seems to be sort of an organized mess but it works for them. I tried the special sandwich and shrimp and chicken pad Thai, yummy! A little pricy for Asian food but it was worth it.

I ordered the SPECIAL sandwich hoping it would be like home. To my surprise, it was just as good as the ones from home. The only thing is they are small in size around 6" for $6 vis back home 12" for $4. The staff is friendly and attentive. I don't recommend going during lunch if you wanna have a place to sit. Small dining room area. a lot of parking.

Parking complex is tight. :/. Time to get a quick lunch before heading back to my office. I got the chicken sandwich and spring rolls. Food was good. Cleanliness? Could be better. Once you walk in... there is a strong smell. And they need to wipe the table better and around the condiments so it won't attract flies. ;/ I do love Ba-le. But maybe this location is not for me.

This is the only place I will buy pho from, I try to steer away from other BaLe as well, I had a bad experience once... not going there. Their pho has the best broth, and they give lots of FRESH basil, noodles, and jalapenos. Haven't had a sandwich here I didn't like, my usual order is tuna w/ one spring roll). They also have really good crispy noodles with vegetables / seafood. They recently started playing with their tapioca flavors, my favorite is still the taro, but the mango one is killer if they still have it!

I have been after legit banh mi for quite some time now. It has been something of a quest, as of late. We've only been in town a few days now, but fate placed us near this Vietnamese sandwich shop. I knew when I read the description that my time had come. I ordered the pork and pate sandwich, which was out of control. The baguette was fresh, the meat inside delicious and the veggies fresh. A little squirt of sriracha and I was off to the races. There was something so well-rounded and satisfying about the whole thing. There's some secret sauce in there (and I don't know that much about banh mi - might be a standard accompaniment) but it brought a nice BBQ-y savoriness to the whole thing. it really brought the whole thing together. Oh, yeah, and it was just a bit over $5 for it. In Hawaii. Near the airport. And it was awesome. I would have happily paid 7 or 8 for it. I wanted to order another one, but my wife said that would be over the top. She foolishly ordered the veggie and tofu with mushrooms over rice. Veggies were fresh, but they went a little crazy on the cornstarch in the sauce, such that it became pretty thick and gloopy, aside from the fact that the whole dish lacked depth or creativity. So the moral of the story: go to a Vietnamese sandwich shop for the sandwiches. You won't be disappointed here.

How does a vietnamese sandwich shop not have their menu in vietnamese? How does a vietnamese sandwich shop not have ban mi xia xiu(bbq pork)? How can a vietnamese sandwich shop charge five dollars for one sandwich??? This place makes Lee's sandwiches look good. San Jose spoils my food ordered by #'s...and of course in HNL Chinatown, you can only order by saying the full item description.

Pho 5-0 is better. I placed a to go order. When I got home, pho had absolutely no brisket. He gave me an extra order, over charged me and when I called he tried to tell me I ordered 3...when I clearly stated 2. Place is nasty. You can see mild and dust on the air vent. Wanted to walk out and cancel my order as soon as I saw the place. They don't even deserve the one star I gave them.

I looove Ba-Le! My favorite is the chicken sandwich because of the picked veggies. One evening I came here but they were out of it! I really wanted the picked veggies so they recommended the spring roll and long rice. They sure packed on a lot of the picked veggies and that made me really happy!

6/19/07: Best deal in the area, near the airport for those headed off-island. I was impressed by the huge variety of foods packed into such a tiny place - Vietnamese sandwiches and spring rolls, croissants, baguettes, Vietnamese desserts, drinks - all for less than $5 (same selection as the other locations). I did notice that their prices are a tad higher (50-75 cents) from the Ward location (Sports Authority) or the Fort Street Mall (HPU). They do take credit cards, unlike the other locations. Hours: M-F 9am-8pm, Sat 10am-3pm, Sun Closed
