Four stars. I tried the Char Siu Chicken lunch plate a while back. It was pretty good for Char Siu Chicken. They used chicken thighs, which were pretty juicy and tasty. When I tried making my own Char Siu Chicken, I used chicken breast and man, let me tell you, it wasn't the greatest. But anyway, back to the Char Siu Chicken here. It was barbecued over a grill, so it made it flavorful. I enjoyed it. I haven't tried the other plates yet, but I'd recommend the Char Siu Chicken here. I'm thinking that it's one of their specialties, so they make it right. It's the typical red type Char Siu in Hawaii. Not the brown or colorless Mainland type of Char Siu (or Cha Sui). All in all, I'll also recommend here if you have a basic craving for a plate lunch and not looking for anything fancy to eat at lunch (or dinner). Recommend. Enjoy!

This my go to place for lunch or dinner; especially, when I'm feeling lazy to cook. Their menu is diverse enough to not have the same meal for lunch or dinner in 7 straight days of dining out. If you're not sure what to order, ask about their daily special and give it a try. Customer service is very good and their portions are competitively priced!

I agree with some of the yelpers here about the Jamaican chicken. It's really good!! It's very flavorful and never fails. I know I know...Jamaican chicken from a local/Asian food joint??? Yup! Just try it. I don't know how this compares to authentic jerk chicken, but the spices and that sauce keeps me coming back. I'll probably have to try the char siu chicken sometime soon.

I personally think this place is better than the popular L&L Hawaiian Barbeque. (Let the hate mail commence). Almost identical menu (plate lunch and burgers). I usually get the barbecue chicken. It has kinda a charred "state fair" taste, which I love. Generous portions. Always leaving full. Other recommendations are the chicken fried rice, pork katsu, Mongolian beef, kalbi, mapo tofu (special), and the honey garlic wings. Mmmmm... The burgers are meh, though. Oh, and they have CHERRY PEPSI!!! Service is friendly. After you come here for a while, the lady starts talking story (engage in a conversation) with you.

I've been eating at the old 99 ranch (now food court) a lot lately. My favorites are Cafe Ivy (if I'm in a rush), Mary's Mediterranean Kitchen (if I'm craving some delish greek food), or Bee's Desserts (for some yummy Taiwanese style boba). I've kinda skipped over the chinese/filipino/vietnamese take out places until recently. I was searching the menus for something different and spotted Jamaican chicken on 99 Local Mix Plate's menu. Jamaican? I hadn't a clue what Jamaican entailed, so I yelped it (of course) and was surprised to find pretty rave reviews about this mysterious chicken. I had to try it. Jamaican apparently means "heavily (read: heavenly) seasoned chicken on top of a sweet tomato sauce". It was yummo! The plate comes with 2 scoops of white or brown rice with either mac or green salad. I opted for all brown rice...three scoops of brown rice, 3 pieces of chicken. I was set for lunch for the next two days! Great deal! The cashier lady wasn't out-of-her-way friendly. But she was very attentive and hooked me up with a bag and extra napkins when she saw that I wasn't able to finish eating a few tables away from the counter.

I always come here because they make good homemade hamburger steak and today I'm not very happy I got my patties with egg shells all inside. Ah lose money

They serve brown rice, I wish all plate lunch places would do the same. I haven't been to "99 Ranch" in years, but to my surprise it was the same exact thing! I believe this particular store was always around. I ordered the mini barbeque chicken plate. It was a perfect small size for me, Yummy's version of a mini is way too huge for me, so I appreciated 99's version of a REAL mini. The BBQ chicken was delightful, I loved it and really you can't go wrong with it. My only complaint would be the sides, I got bak choy and it was warm and mushy, it tasted disgusting and just watery grossness. It seemed to have been sitting there in the case all day, but I'm used to cold sides, not warm. Or is it just me? Meh. The customer service is great, which I am a stickler for. The lady was so nice and that is the reason why I will be back again!

I've known this food court has been around for awhile since the closing of 99 Ranch Market, but I've never eaten here. I had the chance recently while in the area running errands. There's a bunch of eateries spread out in the large indoor area, mixed with kiosks, a fish market, bakery, etc. But this one in particular caught my eye... "Local" Mix Plate. Ok, decided on the chicken katsu, can't go wrong, uh, most times! The katsu came out hot, crispy, maybe a little too crispy, the sauce, well, I didn't really care for it. I actually added ketchup to it to give it a little tartness. The salad, meh, I left most of it. Did enjoy the chicken though... Interesting place and food court. I was trying to imagine in my mind who the owners were of the various places. Need to go back one day and try the other places in there. Go check it out if in the area!!

Another L & L type off shoot in the 99 Ranch Food Court in Mapunapuna. Ordered a Double Cheese Burger and Fries. Burger was hand shaped and not of the frozen variety, while the Fries were the Crinkle Cut variety. Had a decent flow of customers coming and going, so that's a good sign of repeat customers.

Another plate lunch place with a Korean flavor. Nothing jumps out at me but the food is decent and the mini plates are a very good price. The plates normally come with macaroni salad but in their effort to be healthier you can choose to substitute a tossed green salad or sweet kernel corn. They also will substitute brown rice for white rice upon request.

*2 BBQ cheeseburgers, fries, 2 grilled cheese, bottle water = $13 - $14* Dear 99 Local Mix Plate, We are friends with you purely because my husband has a soft spot for your inexpensive BBQ burgers and shockingly crispy crinkle fries. He claims they are compact morsels of extraordinary flavor, though I find them good but ordinary. Also your $2 grilled cheese sandwiches are decent fodder for the kids. Sadly, everything else I've tried has been extremely subpar. Hamburger steak, mix plate, Thai curry... All in desperate need of seasoning. You may want to add something to your macaroni salad other than just macaroni and mayonnaise. Perhaps a dash of salt and pepper, or some garlic powder. I suggest you google "macaroni salad recipes" and spend a couple of hours experimenting. I am no longer going to risk the welfare of my taste buds on your other menu items, but I know we will be back for our burger/fries/grilled cheese order. Although, I do suspect the oil in your fries does a number on my complexion and will not partake of your food the night before the Mrs Universe pageant I will someday compete in. Sincerely, Angela

My favorite place in the 99 Ranch food court. So many good plate lunches. Try the Jamaican Chicken or Char Siu Chicken but the Chili is good too!

I've tried the burgers, fries, hamburger steak, chili loco moco; all were pretty good, average plate lunches. This place must be owned by former L&L employees, their dishes look and taste exactly like you would find from L&L. Although nothing was particularly special, everything I've had has been decent. If you're in the area and craving a plate lunch, this is likely your place. I would go here over similar places in 99 ranch or close by (such as the L&L right down the road or Islander in salt lake shopping center).

Best chow mein ever. It's like a cross between chow mein and Mongolian BBQ.

I've been ordering the char siu chicken consistently. Boneless and grilled to perfection. I actually knew the dish would turn out good, the owners are Chinese after all. The jamaican jerk chicken is very good! Garlic (grilled) mahi mahi is very tasty! Garlic chicken is basically boneless chicken pieces stir fried in garlic. The wait is not long at all so great place for fast food!

The spicy pork here is what my co-workers usually order but today I ordered their 'Special'. For $9.95 you get: a piece of kalbi 2 pieces of chicken 2 mandoo, and a piece of fish jun. Dont forget the '4 choice vegetable.' Overall it was okay. I like bold flavors in my food, and this one was pretty mild. Nothing wrong with the food, but nothing great either. 3 1/2 *'s

Good eats here. Nothing fancy, just good plate lunches. I usually see the same friendly lady working here every time I visit. I like the steak plate and the mixed plate with beef stew. Oh, can't forget the katsu. I hope people continue to support these businesses because they were left to fight on after the 99 ranch market closed down.

Standard local style plate lunch establishment. Their menu is quite massive yet they highlight their daily specials and customer favorites. I personally gave them a 4 outta 5 mainly for several things. 1. Portion and quality of food, when you can match fresh with flavor and pack it well, you'll have repeat customers. 2. Courtesy, the front cashier/server is very laid back yet attentive to any specific requests. 3. They ACCEPT CARDS! A lot of the places to eat in the area accept cash only which I think only drives their overall sales down for the sake of a tiny swiping fee. It's a no brainer that people would spend more with a card vs being limited to an ATM or the cash they have on hand. 5. Cleanliness, given its a take out place it's easy to get a point for cleanliness yet while eating in the food court, I've always seen their staff constantly wiping their area down in between rushes. Overall, I'd pick this place over an L&L any day and in some days Zippys with their portions.
