I used to love this place until I had a roach crawl on my leg while in there. I almost let it pass because of its location. that is until I peeked into the kitchen and saw the large tubs of noodles and veg sitting out uncovered on a open large outdoor garbage can. Lets just say i wont be back unless this place gets inspected. Update*** my Husband brought home Pho takeout. I thought it was from a different location. I opened it heated the broth poured some veg out of the bag and guess what floated up. You Got it ANOTHER BUG! We called to let them know got a refund no further explanation was needed. I guess they've gotten this complaint before.

Soooo this is going to be my new pho stop from now on! Why the four stars, then? Well, the location kind of sucks, to be honest. Aiea Shopping 'Plaza' is a nightmare for parking and quite ghetto for my tastes (yes, i live aiea- which is exactly why i can say that it's ghetto!!). The restaurant is fun size and a little run down. At pho viet, the two women there were friendly and they are not stingy at ALL on the fresh ingredients. The spring rolls are pretty good, too!! Freshly made to a crispy perfection!! I ordered the pho tai to go. The soup was good... for take-out, I would have liked the noodles to be more al dente and the soup to be made with less salt but it was still flavorful and had the classic taste of pho that you'd expect and enjoy. They gave me tons of thai basil and hot peppers-- just enough lime/lemon and the meat was sliced to perfection. Try it!! Just keep in mind, it is by no means fancy. Not a first-date kind of place. I went there out of desperation-- I was sick and pho for me is a cure-all... I tell you what, I was sick yesterday and today I am 85% better!! Thanks to Pho Viet and their fresh pho tai!!

TL;DR: Good portion, fair price, not much parking or seats, and taste great for Pho in hawaii. -Parking for this place is not the best, but there is plenty in the plaza behind the restaurant. -The restaurant is small, seats about 30 people. -Staff is very kind and quick to serve you. -Broth for Pho is amazing along with the portion of rice noodle and meat. -Summer rolls with their delicious peanut sauce is always a good choice. I usually go here for my Pho fix.

Pho is okay. They don't give tendon like other places. Annoyed that the guy who came in 5 minutes after I did got his food before me. The lady doesn't pay attention to you so if you don't say anything, it's like you're not there. I like that the spring roll take out gives you more sauce than other places. I did see that they offer bubble drinks but the flavors arent on the menu. The only pictures of flavors they have that I saw were honeydew, lychee, milk tea and I think that's it. so I asked her if they had coffee flavor. she says yes, so I tell her I want the coffee flavor instead. I wait a minute, then she tells me it's ready. never heard any blending. I go to pick it up from the counter & ask if it's a bubble drink & she says "no bubbles today!" well, then I guess no tip today! sorry!

Didn't enjoy this at all. Two stars simply because the staff was nice. There was a thick layer of oil/grease on top of my pho. Everything we were served was covered in it. The bowl, the utensils...just everything. After my first bite it felt like I had put a whole tube of lip gloss on my mouth. I tried to take a few more bites but just had to stop eating. I ended up being sick the rest of the night.

This place has super good pho but I gave 2 stars because this is the worst service I have ever experienced. We walked in and sat down and waiting for 5 minutes we finally got a menu so that we could look at what we wanted to order. We were ready real quick to order but they just kept passing our table. It took them 10 minutes for them to get our order and we stood up from the table about to walk out and the guy comes and ask are you ready to order. They weren't even busy it seemed as if they were just lazy. Our food took a little while to come out but when we finally got it we were happy. It was super good. But I would never come here again after haven't being treated nice. The food may be good but there's always better places. They need to work on there attitude and service to there customers. Worst experience ever and I'm never going back.

Very friendly service and pho is better than most places. Their pho is good on hot or cold days

Parking is a mess, Pho is marginally ok. There are much better places (clean) to get a pho fix nearby.

Are you a phonatic? Do you live in Salt Lake, Aiea or Pearl City area? Do you feel disappointed that some of the best Pho restaurants are located in town? If you've answered yes to one or more of the following questions then you should give this place a try. The Pho - Very Good It's all about the broth to me. My favorite kind of broth is the northern type which is clean and clear. This place serves just that type. The reason I like clean and clear Is because I always put in a bunch of shiracha, hoisin, and garlic oil anyway so the southern style of adding extra seasoning gives it a weird flavor for me. My only gripe about this place is the bean sprouts are a hit or miss on freshness (browning). We also get the spring rolls and they're crispy and filling. It's served with the standard lettuce, rice noodle and sauce. The Service - Good We ate at a really slow time and were the only customers so everything went well, plus my son spilled his water and they came over quickly and cleaned it up for us so we could continue eating. Parking - They have a lot below and its a very steep narrow driveway located to the left that takes you there. Price is standard among most pho restaurants.

Large portions for good prices. Food was just right. Taste was almost authentic as I recall.

Grabbed a small snack here and I've always love the summer rolls vegetarian style. So I asked for that and she got me the regular one with pork. I clearly said veggie one. I got kinda mad for that. But whatever. It doesn't even taste that good. The peanut sauce had no peanut taste at all. Not very tasty for a dipping sauce. I would prefer the ones in Chinatown. Waaaay bettaaaa!

Pho Viet offers a tasty and flavorful bowl of pho. Their soup is quite good. In fact, one of the better ones I have tasted in awhile. I am not too keen on their egg rolls though. It has some kind of sweet taste that I'm not accustomed to and they are tiny in size for the price they are charging. The parking situation is a thumbs down for me. Especially on Saturdays when they have dance classes held all day in the same building as the restaurant.

Yippy! Pho viet's pho hit the spot pretty good. This place was a lucky find. My friends and I couldn't really think of a GOOD place to get pho on this side of the island. Our plans to go to town were canceled due to laziness and the fact that it was getting late. We stopped off in Aiea with the intention of settling on Japanese food when we found this place. None of us have ever tried it before, so we were going as complete newbees. Small restaurant, maybe fitting up to 25-30 something people at a time? Mostly booths with a few regular tables. Very simple, with each table rockin the hoisin, rooster sauce, chili pepper paste, and other little pho add-ins. The pho was yummy and heartwarming, as it should be. Very filling and tasty. While not the best I've had, it's still so much better than pho I've had at other restaurants in the Pearl City/Aiea area. I highly recommend this one. Oh and apparently they make bubble tea too. I have to try that next time. The waitresses are very considerate and attentive. Excellent water and tea service!! I'd go back a time or two for more.

Although the soup was a bit tastier than other restaurants I've been to, the portions & service needs a lot of attention. Poor value..

I never was a pho guy, but my roommate was and this was his place. Now this is my go to place for pho. I usually get the chicken pho. I love the broth and they always put lots of chicken so there's chicken with every bite. The chicken is shredded by hand and never has any of the cartilage or anything in it. For when I'm not feeling like chicken, I'll go for the round eye steak pho. That one is also very ono. The summer rolls here are also very good. The staff is always very nice and accommodating. The place is very small so it fills up quickly if its busy. The parking lot is also a bit cramped, but it is very worth it. They also do take out which I've done several times. They keep the broth really hot, so even when you get home, its ready to eat.

good food. huge pho and my picky son loved the fly lice. parking kinda weird down below and a little creepy at night. nice ambience but always feel some car is going to plow right through from Moanalua Rd. fairly quick service and staff is generally nice as much as hard working "legal" immigrants can be

Did you know the spring rolls here are HANDMADE? That's right, they're not prepackaged frozen drop in the deep fryer spring rolls, they are made, one by one, by hand by the ladies who also wait tables there. Yup, I love this place. I also managed to finally try a dish that wasn't pho, the lemongrass chicken, and it was nothing short of amazing either. Ridiculously cheap, fast service, delicious homemade food... What more can I say?

Ordered the pho dac biet (combo). Broth didn't seem very rich. You get sort of the standard three meat balls, but only token amounts of other proteins. Noodles could have been a bit more al dente. They were priced about the same as other, much better pho joints. There are so many options to get better pho on this island, I don't plan on ever going back

I have a crazy co-worker who tells me she wants to meet up for dinner at this pho restaurant in Aiea that's really good and it's across the street from Times Supermarket. I tell her that I think I know which place she's talking but I don't know the name and she doesn't either. So we made plans to meet up at 6:00 PM and I get there on time and she doesn't. I had my husband and our friend with me so we just ordered our summer rolls to wait for her to arrive. By the time we finish our summer rolls, my friend still is at her appointment so we go ahead and we each order combo pho. We finished eating our pho and my friend says she's on her way to the restaurant. Then she calls me and said that she parked by my car, but she doesn't know where the restaurant. Hence, why I call her crazy. I tell her, "Crazy! You told me where to go!" So on the phone I tell her where to walk to get to the restaurant. She finally gets here and we tell her we're done eating already. Still, to be a good friend we ordered another round of summer rolls so she doesn't have to be eating by herself. Crazy story with my crazy friend out of the way, let's talk "pho-real" about the pho. Tasted just like every other pho place out there. Summer rolls same thing. It's a really small restaurant. My table was unstable so it rocked a little when we moved around. While we were there, a female worker was peeling shrimp at a booth towards the back of the restaurant by the cash register counter. I honestly don't like it when restaurants do food prep in the dining area because I don't think it's sanitary and it's gross to see the mound of shrimp shells and shelled shrimp lying out in the open like that not covered or refrigerated. First and most likely last visit unless my crazy friend insists on going there again.

The sign reads outside the restaurant "The best soup in town". I partially agree with that statement, as the soup is good but not the best. In actuality, this restaurant is very similar to Pho Five-O. The portions are huge, good value for your money, the broth is a heavy beefy flavor. The spices are a little more pronounced, with some cinnamon. However, like Pho Five-O, too much MSG is used, the soup relies on the heavy beefy flavor, and the veggies were a little wilted.

I'm a returning customer, I have been for many years. I can honestly say I pretty much ordered everything on the menu. Now that I'm older and can no longer eat seafood I'm happy to see there is chicken on the menu. Whenever I'm off from work or start late in the afternoon this is where we go for lunch.

Stop here after going to the post office. It is never full. The broth there is good, but can be a little sweeter than other pho places on island. This place loads their pho up with meat though. So much tripe! The more tripe, the more I'm happy. Also, they have boba tea, bubble tea, pearl tea!

Eat here often because its close to Aiea home and because its good. Pho and rice plates are tasty. Owners and servers are very nice people.

I love Pho Five-O because they have Pho with veggie broth, veggies and tofu. It is amazing so I go there for Pho. However, my fiance and I try to go to the other local pho places from time to time. This place DOES NOT have veggie broth, so I do not eat pho here. I did have the veggie summer rolls and lemongrass tofu, both were good. I had eaten here once before last year and can't remember what I had. It apparently wasn't that memorable. But this time it was better, no Pho Five-O, but okay.

The sign on the window said "Best Soup in town". I was interested, no doubt. Seriously? Really? That's a strong statement to have, knowing that a few other Pho restaurants seem to say the same thing. I have been here once before - before yelp had taken over me. I liked Pho and it loved me back. Love for food is great and I did like Vietnamese. I had been here a year ago, completely oblivious that I was in fact in Aiea. Weird how that goes. With a more keen sense of Yelp, I wanted to try this place again and see if it was indeed da best as they say. Pho Viet Vietnamese restaurant is located in Aiea, pretty much across the street from the Aiea Shopping Center. It's part of the Aiea Town Square complex that is home to an eclectic array of shops and restaurants that's surely to tantalize and excite your senses and taste buds. Whatever your thrills, this place is the place to be, Pho Viet included. This review is very late, as I have been here late May 2013, which was the last time I've eaten here. Prior to that experience was sometime in early last year. It's been too long to remember a specific date, but it was last year. Parking here is a bitch & is tight as it is, so you may just need to come early and find parking before the mass of humanity comes through. If you are like me, Da Bus route #54 strolls through here very half hour, stopping by the Aiea Shopping Center. Just need to walk across the street and you're there! The restaurant is your typical small & plain type of Vietnamese restaurant, you would find readily available in downtown Honolulu - or anywhere on Oahu really. I do like simple. As long as the food is good and the service expected is impeccable, I will return for more and more. What I remember from my most recent experience was that I came here for an early dinner. The place was not really particularly busy, but had its share of customers already chowing down bowl after bowl of Pho. I already knew what I wanted, so I just needed to make sure this place had it too. I shouldn't assume, but its always good to check! For the most part, Pho Viet is clean and organized. The service was expected and friendly. I really liked that aspect of Vietnamese restaurants, where they tend to be quiet when they approach you and quietly whisk away to place the order. I got my usual combination Pho with side order of summer rolls with shrimp. This usually fills me up plenty, so it helps. What is interesting about this place is that they have "large" and "extra large" bowls of Pho. Normally, its medium and large at most places. In a couple of places I have been, an X-large bowl option, but never large and XL. Strange. The process took about 10 minutes from start to finish, having the summer rolls come out about 5 minutes later and the Pho 5 minutes after that. The broth was dark brown, which probably was a good sign, as with Dark Chocolate being healthy for you - you figure darker color Pho is richer with flavor. Not so much the case in this context! The broth was good, but not great. Certainly not to the testament of that sign hanging on that window. But of course, it was good and delicious. Just not mind blowing. The search continues. Service was good and fast. Probably took me at most 45 minutes from stepping in and stepping out. Pho Viet takes plastic, which is always a plus in my book. I always say that if you are buying something, might as well get ( airline) points for it by charging your purchase. Thank you Pho Viet for a lovely dining experience. While it wasn't the best in town, it was certainly the top 15 I have tried on Oahu. Yep. Top 15. That's gold already! Support local! B

Due to "issues" instead of family dinner at the Cattle Company, we ended up walking over to Aiea Town Square and ordering take-out. Earlier, I was still craving pho so I figured why not try the pho place nearby. Around seven, we strolled over. We've both been there before but I hadn't eaten their food and he had our cousin order for him. I thought it would be crowded since it was around dinner time but there was only a party of four in the corner. As my brother and I entered, the lady assumed we were going to dine in but I told her, just doing take-out. It gets easier ordering pho. I once again got some beef. My brother got the shrimp. They had different sizes but for take-out they only have a large size :( I can't handle that! Altogether it was about $18. She said it would take five minutes but felt a bit longer. I guess waiting around for dinner earlier got me hungry and impatient. She was also nice enough to give extra plum sauce. I also have this habit of taking a menu. Ha-ha. It does come in handy! (: The place is small, the interior reminds me of a home, even the door, looks like you're entering/leaving someone's home. As I got home, I prepped my brother on how to mix the ingredients together. When I added the broth to the awaiting meat, he was surprised how it cooked. I was amazed at how red/pink it was before I had it cooked. Ha-ha. Okay, I added the plum sauce... The thing I didn't know that they already had mixed the other sauce that made the pho spicy! I was upset at them :( But I ate as much as I could before I got full. My mom was hungry too and had the other half of my pho. She liked it too though it was spicy. So far, I enjoyed my pho at Vietnam Cafe Pho Saigon--BUT it doesn't mean I'm ruling this place out! Maybe it would have been different if not for the spiciness.

My mom used to take me here when I was sick. There is something about Pho that helps people get onto the road to recovery. This place is not really what it used to be. Their broth used to be so good that it used to make my nose drip (and that is without the hot sauce.) I think that the people got lazy in making the broth. the broth used to have these vapors that totally helped you get better. Nonetheless, this place is still a great place and brings back a lot of childhood memories. The food is exceptional and the staff has always been friendly and nice to me.

Walked by it one time on the way to Bambu and smelled the strong aroma of pho. That's usually a sign the broth will be good. Finally tried it today and it was amazing! I'm only rating the pho and not anything else.

  • A.G. P.

Portions are large bump they skimp on the meat. I had beef and meatballs, I think I only got 2 or 3 meatballs. The place is pretty run-down. Avoid looking in the kitchen or you might not want to eat. I've seen reviews of cockroaches seen, but I didn't see any. I don't mind hole in the wall place like this as long as the food and service is good. Hardly any seating and not sure of parking, maybe across the street (I rode up on my bike). Its worth trying and comparing to My Lien or Five-0 or others in Aiea. It was $8.50 for a bowl I couldn't really finish, but I just road PH bike trail and was starving so I ate it all.

  • Laurie P.

Really good pho, hole in the wall. The driveway to access parking is really small and narrow, keep your eyes open because it is the driveway that you will go "Oh that can't be it" then drive by and realize "Shit that was totally it!" Don't worry though, there is tons of parking in that area, you just might have to walk a bit! The pho broth was tasty, although not my favorite (that secret I am keeping to myself because I don't want the place overrun!). Wish they had more herbs to add (no sawtooth cilantro which is my favorite). The meat was really tender and flavorful, I ordered pho tai nam gau. Only real complaint was I had to repeat my simple order 4 times because the server could not remember what I had said, it was not a language barrier issue he just seemed to be mentally checked out.

  • Grace O.

Service is really great here. It's a good spot to have a quick lunch. I have always gotten their Spring Roll with Cold Vermicelli, and I love it! Their spring rolls are fantastic--you can definitely tell they are homemade. I have had better cold vermicelli noodles, but this one's still delicious! It takes about 5 minutes to come out after I order (a great plus if I just need a quick bite!), so I can be in and out of this place in like 20 min.

  • Dean H.

I know some people disagree but I still have to give this place a 4 star rating, ate there today on a cool (not a cold day come on guys!!) in Hawaii and it was still just as ono as the first time I went there. They are pretty consistent since I go there a lot. The broth stays the same and the portions are the same. Which to me is a GOOD thing! The Xlarge bowl of PHO is always the choice for me and the spring rolls are a little on the smaller side but are very delicious with lots of ganishes with it (mint, daikon, carrots, special sauce, and lettuce). The beef combination (#12) is always a fav...with the tripe, beef ball, tendon, brisket, and thin sliced beef (on the side). To be it is still the BEST soup in Aiea.....

  • Kalani C.

Been coming here for years for the "Best Soup in Town". Just noticed the past few visits that things are sort of off. I no longer recognize the workers (and they no longer recognize me). Oh well, at least it's mutual, ha. Wait time has doubled (sometimes even tripled) and portion sizes have decreased. It has become increasingly frustrating to have to ask for more basil as what they give for two large portions are barely enough for one. I order the same thing every time, so I've noticed even the fresh spring rolls have gotten smaller as well as less broth in my chicken pho and of course, less chicken. However, the flavors are still intact, but it's just you get less for what you pay for. Kind of like the smaller ice cream cartons for the same price you paid when they were larger. I asked if their management changed and bingo, they confirmed new management. I desperately miss old management, but hear they opened up a place in Manoa? Maybe it's time to explore better soup in town as the best seems to be offering less these days.

I'm typically too lazy to write reviews-but when something REALLY worth noting happens, I do, and TODAY was one of those days. GROSS and completely traumatizing. Sure, the restaurant is a tiny hole-in-the-wall, but I'm pretty sure this place needs to be inspected. A few of my co-workers and I decided to go have pho for lunch today; we'd had a good experience at Pho Viet the week before-it wasn't crowded, the prices were cheap, and the pho was way tasty-so there was little question as to where we'd go today. But then,...... TWO WORDS: EIGHT. COCKROACHES. The food tasted great as always, but through the entirety of our meal, we spotted EIGHT COCKROACHES. Going up the walls, down the walls, across the floor,... Two ran across the sides of our table, one ran across another table, and then one ran across the table RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and disappeared under the table!!! The worst part was that the owner was standing right next to us, (with some of our food, nonetheless,) when the cockroach ran in front of me and past the food already on our table. Did she acknowledge it or apologize at all? Not AT ALL. If it wasn't for the fact that we'd all ridden in the same car or that I was with a bunch of guys, I easily would've left. As my boss put it, "If the front of the restaurant is like that, can you imagine what the kitchen must be like?" It breaks my heart to say it because I reeeeally like the pho there and the prices are way reasonable, but we're deeeeefinitely not going back after today.

No longer our best place to recommend pho., we've recommended this place to all our friends their pho was just amazing, we completely fell in love with it to the point that we had pho Fever which meant coming into their place four times a week but they've changed owners recently and their new business is just awful if you ask me. We tried to give the new business owners numerous chances but they've always failed to meet our minimum standards. They dont clean as much as they should, their was chop sticks and chopstick wrappers on the floor, something floating in my water ( I'd always have to ask for new water) and theyve cut their portions down. Put it this way, the hubby could barely finish an XL, now he feels like he can demolish two of them. If they'd just be a bit more sanitary and kept their portions, we'd come back. But that's not happening, because it's not worth out money.

Ordered the pho. The portion size was huge and they add lots of meat. Service was good. Great place to go when you're craving some pho.

When I came here with a bunch of friends, I ordered a salad because I was expecting to eat dinner at home afterward. The ambiance and service here are good. I got the shrimp salad, which had a decent portion of shrimp on it. They tossed it with WAY too much dressing, and it overwhelmed by palate despite the fact that it was pretty good. My friends said the pho was alright, so I'll give this place 3 stars.

After seeing "For the "best soup in town" you gotta try Pho Viet..." on Yelp - I figured this place is what I have been looking for... The parking lot is HELL! The first time I actually tried to visit Pho Viet I couldn't find it until it was too late... this place is located ON THE STREET side of this awkward shopping center... Parking took a while - plus 5 minutes for the driver in the spot I was waiting on to pull out of his spot without hitting another car! Once I finally parked, I walked up the steps and into Pho Viet - a TINY TINY little place - like 3 booths and maybe 6 tables... I ordered the Spring Rolls and Tai Pho with raw meat. The Spring Rolls are different than others I have tried - very very skinny, not much inside, but oveall OK. Next came the pho - eh... I didn't even finish - which means I wasn't a HUGE fan. It was ok - but def not the best soup in town. Wasn't a very flavorful broth. Meat was fresh, but small cuts. Cheap, but tastes it.

FINALLY GOT TO TRY THE WONDERFUL PHO SHOP IN AIEA! (right down the road from my house!) Although small in size, this place has a powerful punch when it comes to pho! Hidden away on the busy streets of Aiea, Pho Viet is definitely a place to seek out for some good ol fasion Vietnamese food. I recently went there after wanting to try this place for so long. Definitely worth it, but still sad I didnt go here sooner. I had the meat combination pho (my favorite) and was completely blown away on how everything was just right! The broth was perfect and the meat was flavorful. The summer rolls are definitely worth getting as well! The service is on its game; fast, kind, and genuine. Always smiling and coming by to make sure everything was okay. They also have boba drinks her too...I might need to try that next time ;) Parking is available by Aiea Manapua and just walk up the staircase to Moanalua road. All I have to say is WATCH OUT! CUS I MIGHT BECOME THE DUKE OF THIS PLACE! ^_^

One day for lunch my pregnant coworker was craving pho. She ate at this restaurant before where I have not. We decided to order take out and we called our order in for 3 (no not because she is pregnant, it's because another coworker wanted pho). We picked it up and took it back to the office. I don't like how they packed the noodles it was in a plate lunch container. The vegetables they didn't give us each our own bag they stuffed everything in one container which didn't have enough for the three of us to eat. I believe they were saving money which is smart on their part. It wasn't hot and it was harder to mix the noodles with the sauce and their was no flavor to me. I will not be going back.

I had a gift certificate to motivate me to go get Vietnamese food. I usually have pho, so I decided to try a shredded pork on vermicelli noodles dish. I was not really having a good time with it until I added the vinegar/carrot sauce. Then a little roasted chili peppers, then some sweet hoisin sauce. NOW that's my taste buds going YIPPEEE! Overall the pho hear is reported to be one of the best, but I think the star anise flavor is a little too strong. I did like their Thai iced coffee. I also thought the waitress was very good. Her accent was hard to understand, but she was attentive and very polite. Awesome. gave her a good tip. Yelp challenge 365: #17/365

So I need to first say I'm Vietnamese and I'm from the California. I thought the pho was pretty good, the service was nice and pretty decent. The parking may get a little annoying for some people, but if you go during lunch hrs I don't see it being too bad. This was my first time here, I got Pho while my bf got the rice and bbq chicken. I thought his proportion was decent enough him to get full, but in comparison I felt for the price we could have went somewhere else and gotten a lot more. Was it good? Yes it was. He loved it. Now, the pho. I felt though it was good, there was something left to be desired. I could tell that they tried to save money and cut their meat in half. Their meatballs were just a couple pieces. That's the only reason why I marked it lower. I've just had better on the island.

Best pho on island. GLUTEN-FREE TOO!!! Been coming here for years; great vegetarian or chicken pho & winter or spring rolls. :) The garlic chili sauce is a must have! Excellent customer service over the years. Worth the drive from town...

Pho Viet proudly claims "The Best Soup In Town". I think its true. I've been to Cuu Long and I've been to Pho Five-O. I think the soup in Pho Viet trumps them both. The Pho here is very flavorful. Pho Viet offers that fragrant, sweet-scented, minty Pho that hits your nose right when you walk in. The broth is best in class. I ended up with an empty bowl. The service is great and the soup comes fast...........which brings us to the ICE. WTF is up with the ice here. I don't think there is an ice machine available that makes ice cubes in such non standard non conforming shapes. Where are they getting these ice pieces from. Chipping from the freezer? Going old school and chipping form a block of ice? Maybe its authentic ice from the Vietnam.

I had heard about this Pho place from several friends and decided to try it since I had not found a really good pho restaurant since I left Wichita. The first several times I went in, I was really pleased with both the chicken and flank steak pho. I eventually talked a coworker into going down with me since I was really raving about the food . . . BIG MISTAKE! When we ordered, we were told that the restaurant was all out of bean sprouts (a necessary ingredient if you ask me, so I'm not sure how you run out . . . ). We continued ordering at any rate and ate the food without the bean sprouts. As we were leaving some other folks that work where we do were on their way in. Later on, we found out that they eat there regularly and that they got the full dining experience with bean sprouts. As it turns out, the restaurant withheld the sprouts for their "favorite" customers. I won't go back based on principle now. You'd think they would have wanted to win new customers . . . I guess I need to go back to Wichita to get good food and customer service at Pho Hot!

I've read ratings about this place and I live right around the corner and go past there often and see a sign that says "best soup". So we tried. and yah, I've tasted waaaay better. HILO RICE NOODLE where are you? please don't order the spring rolls they say 6 rolls and they sell them for like $5, but they didn't tell me that it was 3 rolls and they cut them in half....yah what a turn off. not a fan.

I've tried many pho places & this by far is THE BEST! The ladies that work there are really nice & yes sometimes when they're busy you have to literally flag them down to tell them what you need, but they're really nice so it doesn't matter. I've tried MANY pho places (Chinatown ones too) but nobody's broth comes close to this one! Their sign in the window that says "BEST SOUP IN TOWN" should be changed to "BEST SOUP EVER!". I tried pho in the Big Island, Maui, & even in Nevada/Vegas, but still, Pho Viet is my #1! My BF would say the same & he would say the next closest one to compare it to would be the one in Nevada! Parking kinda sucks but that's why we go at odd hours, cause seating is limited & most people eat during the peek times. No matter what the situation is... IT'S WORTH IT!

Went to this place with some family a while back. Back then I wasn't too much of a Pho person so I thought it was just okay. Then, I finally gave in and tried Pho again, but this time we went to Cuu Long in Pearl Kai. I feel in love! We went there many many times until last week. We thought, hey lets give Pho Viet a try again and see how there Pho is compared to Cuu Long? So we did and wow, their broth is way tastier! The only down fall at Pho Viet is that their portions are smaller and service is slower. We no longer go to Cuu Long (unless Pho Viet is close).

Our Pho lunch crew seems to be growing. It started with two, the next week was three, last week was four. So we've going around the Aiea area searching for a favorite. The competition ended with our visit to this place....it confirmed that Pho Five-O yelp.com/biz/pho-five-o-… was, at least for us, the Aiea area champ (Cleaner flavors, just plain cleaner, air conditioning, fast service). Pho Viet's not a bad place though I don't think it lives up the window billing as "Best Soup in Town". As usual I ordered what I call "Everything Pho" --one day the name'll catch on, though its more commonly known as Pho Dac Biet or Combonation Pho. Here you can get your Pho super sized and get an "Xtra Large". It actually didn't look much bigger than my coworker's "Large" bowls, just had more noodles. I would've liked more meat. Overall the Pho here is good, but I found the cleaner flavors of Pho Five-O to be more addicting. I knocked off a star from this place for being sticky and for making me sticky. I don't mind places with character, but I'm not a big fan of when things (like the menu or my arm) stick to the table. And while the thermostat on the AC read "60" it wasn't even close....I would have questioned if it was even on at all. A crappy thing when you're trying to eat a steaming hot bowl of Pho. Parking for this place can be found down below by Aiea Manapua , M&M BBQ and the library. Pho Viet's okay, but not as it claims "the best".

  • Mitchell N.

Rocks...dependable, consistent, and everywhere - just like Pho Viet! Okay, Pho Viet actually only has one location at the bottom of Aiea Heights drive BUT it is consistent and dependable food. That alone likely isn't enough to make your mouth water, but on an island where Pho places appear out of nowhere and fade just as fast, it's a good thing. The Pho, from flank to brisket to tripe is tasty but very salty. The service is prompt and everyone is friendly. Parking is in the back of the building with a smaller lot near the library entrance. The best part is that Pho Viet is better than most and inexpensive for Hawai'i. You'll get consistent flavors and service regardless of how busy it is. The other dishes are just as dependable - nothing to rave about but good. The only negative are the drinks. The bubble teas themselves are okay, but the mochi balls aren't what you'd expect, they're kind of hard...rock like...The avocado shake also is subpar, though if your tied to the area you won't find another place (besides the mall) that has the variety of Pho Viet. Frequented by families and couples, it's a solid choice. If you have the time though, a quick drive into Town reveals plenty of comparable Pho places.

I've been eating at Pho Viet for over a year now...I usually order the pork sirloin slices rice plate and summer rolls...but I went in a month ago and noticed that there are new owners now. The food tastes the same (awesome), but the portion sizes have decreased (as some people have said below) and wait time increased. :( kind of disappointed, but I still go there because I absolutely love the food. This is my favorite Vietnamese place to eat at. :)

  • Sydette H.

We eat here once or twice a week and always order the same thing, summer rolls, large number 12 and medium number 18. They don't even have to show us the menu anymore. The pho is soooo good, I can't eat it anywhere else!

I've only been here twice so far, and each time I have not been disappointed. It was challenging to find only because I'm not familiar with the area. The parking lot only has about a dozen spaces, but the shopping center behind it has a huge lot. Supposedly there is a patrolling guard that will tell you to move if he/she catches you not going to the adjacent shops, but I haven't seen that guard, nor have I been towed. Yeah, the sign in the window says, "Best soup in town" and yes, if I owned a restaurant I'd want to say I have the "best" food; seriously, I'm not going to say, "So-so food" or "There's something better out there, keep searching." Is Pho Viet's soup the "best?" Mmm, I guess I can't say. I've tried Cuu Long, Bac Nam, Hale Vietnam and honestly, they're all good. Today, however, I tried their vermicelli with bbq pork and spring rolls. It was only okay: the pork was lukewarm and there was only 1 spring roll. Good thing there wasn't more room on their front window to put up "So-so bun thit nuong cha gio." The good: fast service, iced coffee, decent price. The not so good: rattling air-conditioner in the corner, one-time service (need more water...*gasp*), that I spilled the dipping sauce all over my shorts and smelled like urine (but I'm not taking away any stars for that -- that was all my fault. Luckily, I had a pair of basketball shorts in my car so I threw those on, and I wrapped my sticky hands in an old t-shirt so I wouldn't get my steering wheel dirty. I'm glad this was my day off and I didn't have to go back to work smelling like I peed my pants.).

I don't enjoy giving a bad review to a small, independent restaurant but this place is horrible. They do not wash their vegetables and I found a live garden slug in my sprouts. The raw vegetables were visibly dirty. I thought about the parasite that has caused brain damage on the Big Island when raw vegetables were not washed properly and hoped that I hadn't been infected by it from this meal. I will never return to this restaurant. My wife discussed the incident with a non-restaurant tenant in the same shopping center and she said that she no longer frequented the restaurant after she and a friend had gotten a bad case of food poisoning from a meal there. This restaurant is not sanitary.

***Best Pho in Aiea*** You see, my boyfriend lives in Aiea, and I hardly ever go there because I live in town, but one day we were both craving some pho and so we went to Pho Five-O and if you read my review on it, you'll know how I felt. But we always happened to pass by this place a lot, so we gave this place a chance when we were craving pho again. I'm used to eating very good pho, and homemade is probably the best but the ones in Chinatown are just as good. So my expectations were very high. The parking is a little inconvenient but I assure you there is a lot. It's hidden in the back of the place and is a little cramped. But you walk up the ramp and the place looks run down a little and doesn't seem like the best place to eat pho, especially the sign that says "best soup in town" made me doubt it even more. You know how bad places advertise to get customers? That's the kind of vibe I got from this place. Well we both got what we usually got, just round eye steak pho, large each, and spring rolls to-go. He got a honeydew melon bubble tea and I got Taro. In that instant I also found out that they do phone orders for take out ! So i jotted down the phone number just in cased we liked it. It took 10 mins and it was ready ! And the ladies there were very nice. The bubble tea wasn't that great. it was very runny and the ice was a bit too chunky to be called a smoothie consistency. they should've put in less water and blended it a little longer. (Just letting you know, if you like sriracha you should ask them for another sauce container so you can put it in yourself- they have it already mixed in with the oyster sauce but I like mine's very spicy !) They close the containers well so don't worry too much about spillage ! As we got home and unwrapped everything, It smelled so good. As for the taste ? Clear as day broth with noodles that weren't too chewy or too short. It was almost as good as the ones in Chinatown ! Town has much better pho, but like I said, the best in Aiea. The spring rolls were really hot, so we had to eat them after our pho, but it was good. I just wished we had more lettuce, but thankfully we had lettuce in our fridge. Now every time we want pho in Aiea, we go here !

Spouse prefers the soup base compared to the others in our area. I like the sliced pork sirloin. Mine comes in one size, wish they gave more. Barely gets real busy, so it a nice quite place to eat.

Best soup in town? Not quite...but it's not terrible either. The serving sizes are pretty standard, except when my friend and I had lunch there there was hardly anything solid in the "best soup". Not much noodles compared to other places, and 5 very small pieces of meat...and by very small I mean the size of half my thumb. The soup tasted alright, nothing special really, but again, not bad. Not that it's hard to get pho stock not bad...but you know....credit where it's due right? The damn booths in there are may as well be a crate stacked against a concrete wall as far as comfort goes. Solid as a rock, and the "cushions" look like theyve been cracking since the 70s. Ugh. Service was really fast, but i'd rather wait an extra 30 seconds for a decent amount of stuff in my pho. There are a lot of other places around to get much better pho...so unless i'm already in the area and too lazy to drive elsewhere, I probably won't be going back.

best pho on this side of the island. we eat here at least once a week. good for take out or eat in. but eat in, go early or late lunch time because it's a small place and can get a bit busy. if you're hungry get the extra large, for like $9, it'll fill you up. the regular bowl (large) is more than enough to satisfy you for lunch so you don't fall asleep when you go back to work. All the other food there is pretty good too, but i'm there for the pho and maybe some spring rolls. the spring rolls are a little expensive for what you get, but no more than other places. parking can suck, but if you go at the right time, no problem. like any good chinese or vietnamese restaurant, just don't look inside the kitchen though. last time i did, i saw them drop a box of frozen meat on the floor and pick it up and just dust it off...but hey, that's probably what gives the soup its awesome flavor!

Location wise, it may not seem very appealing, but If I must say the Pho is just as good as people say it is. I've been here countless of times, and it still doesn't fail to amaze me. Dining area is pretty "okay" looking, could use a bit of fixtures but its a good place to dine in for quality pho.

Pho viet, This place was recommended through the grape vine. "Big mistakeh" First of they have a sign say and i Quote "Bestes soupes in townes" I beg to differ. Once inside i felt a weird vibe maybe because we were the only ones in there hahahahaha. But yeah seating arrangements are not comfortable. I felt squished when eating the pho and it had a lot of *parsley* which i hate, The fact that it was already in the soup itself "Ahh sau and mark Gasol" Pho had no flavor flav por favor. Bad communicationes with customer made me vewy ANGGWEE not like the green HULK but the like gray one hahaha this place aint what the sign says it to be. False advertisment like my frends ex-wife would say "WHAA HAPPUN _____ CHAN" hahahahahahahaha" RODHARAGA"

The beef pho broth was surprisingly full of flavor this particular day. I frequent this joint due to logistics and order the same dish (beef pho) all the time and it is usually par at best, but last night, the broth had amazing depth and flavor!

There's a sign outside this place that says "the best soup in town".. MY EYE!!.. I get here in the middle of lunch time and when I step inside and the first thing I asked myself: "WHA HAPPPON??" What I expected to be a busy lunch hour, there were no one inside, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Was not impressed with the distinct flavor at all. If you read all my other reviews on pho places, I give you detailed information, therefore there's nothing much to say about this place.

I would have to disagree with the sign outside that says that this place has the best Pho in town, but its ok. I've had a lot worse. It seems to me that most Pho places have uncomfortable seating and the service is really crappy, but to me as long as the food is good its worth it. This place is right down the street from my house making it convenient when I have a craving for Pho.

im giving it three stars now because after discovering pho five-o and totally forgetting about pho one as i wrote the past review, i had a change of heart . i still love the location as its very convenient for me but the pho is just a-okehhh.

i wasn't rockin pho before..i think because i always ordered pho-ga..but i finally tried something new...pho tai gau, and now i'm hooked. This is one of my fav spots to go for pho. it's a small place, but the service is friendly and quite fast. they only have one high chair, so if your taking your little one with you, you may have to wait if it's in use. parking is tough, but i've been lucky with every visit, so no complaints there. they sometimes don't give enough basil and sometimes it's not always as fresh as i would like it to be. overall i'd have to give it 5 stars for taste and 3 stars for cleanliness.

HILO RICE NOODLE where are you? please don't order the spring rolls they say 6 rolls and they sell them for like $5, but they didn't tell me that it was 3 rolls and they cut them in half....yah what a turn off. not a fan.

  • Tran L.

Walked by it one time on the way to Bambu and smelled the strong aroma of pho. That's usually a sign the broth will be good. Finally tried it today and it was amazing! I'm only rating the pho and not anything else.

It takes about 5 minutes to come out after I order (a great plus if I just need a quick bite!), so I can be in and out of this place in like 20 min.

im giving it three stars now because after discovering pho five-o and totally forgetting about pho one as i wrote the past review, i had a change of heart . i still love the location as its very convenient for me but the pho is just a-okehhh.

  • H I.

i wasn't rockin pho before..i think because i always ordered pho-ga..but i finally tried something new...pho tai gau, and now i'm hooked.

  • Vin L.

  • Jason Y.

best pho on this side of the island. we eat here at least once a week. good for take out or eat in. but eat in, go early or late lunch time because it's a small place and can get a bit busy. if you're hungry get the extra large, for like $9, it'll fill you up. the regular bowl (large) is more than enough to satisfy you for lunch so you don't fall asleep when you go back to work.

  • Rodalyn C.

  • Susan F.

  • Janel T.

I've been eating at Pho Viet for over a year now...I usually order the pork sirloin slices rice plate and summer rolls...but I went in a month ago and noticed that there are new owners now. The food tastes the same (awesome), but the portion sizes have decreased (as some people have said below) and wait time increased. :( kind of disappointed, but I still go there because I absolutely love the food. This is my favorite Vietnamese place to eat at. :)

We eat here once or twice a week and always order the same thing, summer rolls, large number 12 and medium number 18. They don't even have to show us the menu anymore. The pho is soooo good, I can't eat it anywhere else!

  • Bifyu J.

  • Jason Y.

best pho on this side of the island. we eat here at least once a week. good for take out or eat in. but eat in, go early or late lunch time because it's a small place and can get a bit busy. if you're hungry get the extra large, for like $9, it'll fill you up. the regular bowl (large) is more than enough to satisfy you for lunch so you don't fall asleep when you go back to work.

  • Rodalyn C.

    (2)
  • Susan F.

    (3)
  • Suzanne A.

im giving it three stars now because after discovering pho five-o and totally forgetting about pho one as i wrote the past review, i had a change of heart . i still love the location as its very convenient for me but the pho is just a-okehhh.

  • H I.

i wasn't rockin pho before..i think because i always ordered pho-ga..but i finally tried something new...pho tai gau, and now i'm hooked.
