Dining in? Order at the counter, pay, and then grab a seat. Your order will be brought out to your table. Breakfast foods have got to be some of my favorites, which is why I like Koa Pancake House. The prices are reasonable, the portions are pretty generous, and the order comes out quick! If pancakes are your thing, a shortstack of the regular buttermilk ones run for $3.50. If you like a little more variety, they've got 3-egg omelettes that are served with either pancakes, rice, toast, or potatoes, starting at around $6.95. Substitutions and additions are allowed if you're willing to pay a small price. I usually opt for the spinach mushroom cheese omelette + pancakes for $7.75, with a side of Portuguese sausage (+$3.75?). KPH's specials are worth checking out. These are my 2 picks: 1. The Early Bird Special is perfect for early risers... 2 eggs and a shortstack for $4. I think it's only until 9am. I used to get this quite frequently when I worked downstairs at Starbucks long ago. 2. $6.25 Fried Rice Special comes with 1 egg and your choice of Portugese sausage or spam. I get it with the sausage. I heard a rumor that KPH serves Eggs Benedict. I'm going to have to try it.

I was in a hurry and needed a quick bite to eat. I came here for convenience and I was not planning to like this place. The pancakes were delicious, well cooked, and full of macadamia nuts. It is causal but clean and very tasty.

I guess I was more of a pancake person when I lived in Hawaii. I always used to get the the pancakes with corned beef hash over fried rice (upcharge), to split. I'm not sure if I should be awarding more stars, considering how much weight I've lost since I left Hawaii and didn't get breakfast from here every day . . .

So disappointed with my visit there this morning!! Went there after working all night thinking I was gonna enjoy some amazing food from my prior experience at the pearl harbor location. WRONG! I ordered over $45 dollars worth of food since I went with someone else....we waited well over 20 min till I started noticing people after us getting served and the cashier still looking at us. After we approach her, she hands us a bag of food as we specifically told her for dining in, we open our plates and its nothing but an order of bacon and pancakes...what?! they then realize they gave our order to the kids behind us. we also seen bugs in their salt shakers which we also had to bring to their attention. They then expected us to wait while they remake that order because they couldn't pay attention the first time to whom they were giving orders out to...so upset cause I admit they do have some good food. the service just sucked and I got my refund and left. The service isn't much to brag about so I advise the pearl harbor location....and check the salt shakers...

Great place for breakfast. Gets crowed around 830 if u want to avoid the rush. Prices r reasonable but can expensive at a avg of $6.75 a plate but cheaper than the rest. Pancakes r lite and fluffily, but I would stick to the buttermilk pancakes. The other tend to be hit or miss, mainly because they just add the "add on" ingredient in the batter and cook it so it comes out half ass sometimes. Banana and strawberry r the best "add on" for the pancakes, great for kids. The others don't really come out good. Parking doesn't get too bad in the mornings, but only right turns when leaving the parking area to the main road unless ur a dick and don't care to follow the rules. I hate those people who make their problems into everyone's problems. 3 stars because the only thing I like about this place is it easy, fast service, and good pancakes. On the other hand I can never find anything I really want to eat here. They have the standard; spam, corn beef, port. sausage, etc. . . I just don't get excited when I think of this place, I guess it's kind of my last option in a sense. But better than the avg. therefor 3 stars.

Yummie food! Love the pankcakes! seating a bit smooshy, but has outdoor seating. Popular place, usually busy! Sundays are really crowded! We just recently went on a Sunday and constantly people coming and and out! Very popular! I just wished they also served hash browns. I dont really care for the potatoes. But my favorite is the mushroom omelette!

Probably not the beat breakfast place but it's great when you are hungry and want something fast. They have a lite breakfast which consist of eggs, 2 pancakes and 2 links..... $4.95

This is my "replacement" breakfast place close to home, since Kapiolani Coffee Shop & Bakery Closed. I agree with Scott K., this place is not the best for breakfast, but if you have that hankering and don't want to cook, it does the job. I say I visit this place almost once a month, sometimes more. Nothing on the menu that I would say to try... My rating is more like a 2.5 stars right now. The last 2 times I've been there, the chefs got my order wrong. I know it's not the cashiers, because the receipts/tickets say the right thing... I order a "Spinach-Bacon-Mushroom" omelette. The closest thing they have on the menu is a "Spinach-Mushroom-Cheese" omelette... The first time, they "forgot" the bacon, so it ended up just getting stuck in the middle of the omelette. And just the other day, they forgot the mushroom, added twice as much bacon, and put in the cheese... I called, just to let them know. Seriously, I don't think I'm being difficult. I would simply appreciate my omelette to come how I order it. My mom worked in food service in a diner type setting, and she even told me: "Next time, open the tray and check it before you leave..." If it wasn't so close and fast, I probably won't come here again soon.

Not a bad place to grab a quick breakfast. I had the banana pancakes and they did not disappoint. The portion was generous even though I had to order my side separate. I will come back and try some of the other items on the menu.

Too busy, too crowded, too noisy! Don't like ordering at a counter then turning around into five people behind you, pushing your way thru them and trying to find a table. The food doesn't come for the entire party of three at the same time so you have the dilemma of waiting while your food gets cold or eating THEN having to wait for the others to finish. While you wait there are a dozen people eyeing you for the table. Can't remember if the food was that great, just was a hassle that I don't want to experience again.

The chocolate chip pancakes are AMAZING so is their corned beef hash and fried rice! This is mine and my husbands Sunday morning tradition. Great food and great service!

Is it breakfast yet? I know you're supposed to eat the pancakes here but... I'm not a huge pancake eater! I've had them here before and they were really light and fluffy, but I'm yelping this because of the yummy NON-pancake items they have here. The spinach, mushroom, and cheese omelette was delicious and stuffed with tasty goodness! My bf had the eggs benedict which was really really good! He always orders something that I wish I had once I see it! It had a side of diced potatoes which weren't especially tasty, but different. They were russet potatoes which don't really hold up very well. Red potatoes would have tasted better, however I know they cost more. Can't complain when the prices are pretty low here. (BTW... Ice Garden is next door! I wished I had more room to eat some icey coma-inducing goodness, but I just couldn't after all that omelette!)

Was super craving breakfast foods. Heard good things about this place, came here for take out before work. Called in my order and I literally live 4 lights away. It was ready when I got there, and they were so kind and curteous. Offered extra syrup and everything. I got pancakes and sausages. The pancakes were so fluffy. Def recommend this place!

Breakfast, is breakfast to me, I'm sorry I just can't seem to get that excited over breakfast. But for a casual no frills, laid back dining on paper plates breakfast joint, I think the Koa Pancake House has got that niche filled. You order at the counter, the counter person gives you your receipt with your order number on it, you find seating inside or out, and in no time there's a waitress bringing out your food nice and hot, exactly as ordered. I like that. They have macadamia nut pancakes, or waffles on the menu now, so my wife gets the waffle, well done with a side of crispy bacon, while I get the two eggs over easy with the hamburger patty, and rice ( gotta have rice!) The waffle arrives perfectly brown with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, her bacon (five slices) is crisp, but I know she likes hers a little crisper. My eggs cooked just how I like, easy over with runny yoke, and my patty looks and tastes hand made, charred outside, juicy inside, two generous scoops of rice. I don't get excited over breakfast, but I do appreciate a good tasty meal. Rice is rice, as eggs are eggs, but my hamburger patty was really juicy and tasty. The bacon was a smokey salty sweet, while the waffle was loaded with macadamia nuts, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. Paper plates, and foam coffee cups, casual no frills affordable breakfast or brunch. Good wholesome food, that's all I need.

Been to the one in Kaimuki, tried this one today and well they got a good thing going, It's fast and simple and very reasonibly priced, I had their corned beef hash, two eggs and rice- this I have to say was just okay cause the corn beef was the canned variety which they make a patty with. I got the banana pancake short stack which was very good. It's the kind of place that you order at the front counter and find a empty table and your number is called when it's ready but I guess they were slow cause the lady brought my food to the table which was a nice touch. Even though I only gave them three stars, this is the place to go for cheap, fast breakfast food, however this chain gets crazy busy on the weekends.

Koa Pancake House is one half of my favorite weekend outing: Pancakes and then amazing shave ice with mochi balls at Ice Gardens next door!!! I love Koa Pancake House. Great portions, wonderful variety, and budget friendly prices. Every time I walk into the place, I'm greeted with smiles and hellos! My favorite breakfast is a short stack of buttermilk pancakes and a plate with Portuguese sausage, eggs, and home fried potatoes. The pancakes are FLUFFY, soft, pillowy and just so so so good! I've never had Portuguese sausage as good as theirs (out and about in a restaurant). Huge slices of sausage, cooked crispy perfect! And the potatoes!!! Fresh hunks of potatoes golden brown and oh so YUM. New favorite: Bacon, cheese, spinach omelet! Crispy chunks of bacon, ooey gooey cheese, and fresh spinach blanketed in egg. OH YES.

  • Never F.

Macadamien nut pancake with coconut syrup was really good, but the potatoes are really big cuts and just average. Scramble eggs not very good, and the sausage was ok. The staff was very friendly and helpful though. Good spot to grab some breakfast real quick.

  • Nhu-Quynh N.

Mmm the pancakes were amazing! Though the Corned Beef Hash wasn't very good.. Price was reasonable. And they give you either half stack or full stack. Both at very reasonable price. I'd come back for sure to try the other things on the menu.

Awesome breakfast--this is a review for the Kaneohe Koa House. A little pricey (for what we order--lots of side orders) but you can't beat the fast service. They have their system down to a science, You can be in and out of there is less than 30 minutes. Food is tasty and there is much variety in their breakfast menu.

    (4)
  • Jane L.

I came to this location years ago when they first opened. They do not give enough food and thier pricing is not that great either. I've never went back ever since. I would rather go somewhere else to get more and better breakfast.

This is my favorite place to get bunch or lunch. They close at 2:00pm, thus the lunch part. I usually ordered my streak&eggs combination (medium/sunshiny side-up), they made its perfect. The place is always packed, but the place is less crowded after noon. So late breakfast is the best. OMG I am hungry for their Waffles now... crispy and soft I rather go here than Anna Miller any day of the week.

  • Dee K.

Breakfast take out. Bf ordered chili omelet. He said it was good. Better than Zippy's. I had the spin, mush and cheese omelet well done. It was good. Fast friendly service. Price average for breakfast. I will be back.

  • Li B.

Ok, not understanding the reviews here. Koa Pancake House is the bomb! Maybe you have to be local to appreciate the paper plates and all the dishes served, but this place never disappoints. Their pancakes are simply delicious and you are always served quickly and with a smile. Not a bad thing to say. At all. Go here and if you don't like it, there's something wrong with you!

  • Tee Q.

My Uncle recommended this place since it seemed to be his hang out. Parking is easy to find which is nice. The art work was beautiful. I was not too impressed with the open style seating. I'm more of a fan of the booth. All windows which provides great sunny natural lighting. The food was okay...nothing bad, but nothing that really stuck out. It could have been the styrofoam cup and plate that absolutely turned me off. I can't stand styrofoam unless it's a to go container or for left overs. Coffee was fresh and steaming hot! The two ladies assist were quite friendly. I would return, but would prefer the Kaneohe restaurant.

  • Kenji M.

Just, no. The restaurant is not really a restaurant, the prices are okay but not as great as people are saying (food costs are low, so the prizes should be *really* cheap) and the food just isn't good. The banana pancakes were like they made pancakes, sliced fruit and put them into a pancake, and it's a pancake house. And the pancake itself just isn't all that good: it tasted too bready, and the flavor of the filling just never permeated through: it was kind of like those make-your-own-waffles at a hotel breakfast. Nothing unique or special here.

    (2)
  • Eric W.

This place was awful. The "BBQ" chicken was grilled and served dry; the side of potatoes underdone and tasting of mold. A blueberry waffle was better, but the syrup tasted like burned rubber.

  • Koshi I.

I had the Portuguese sausage omelet with pancakes and a coffee. The omelet was only ok. The amount of sausage and cheese they stuffed in that crepe-like omelet was impressive -- they didn't skimp. But the sausage was borderline flavorless and there was hardly any egg flavor in the entire dish. I'd expect more punch from the flavor considering the ingredients. To their credit, though, the eggs were light and fluffy and it came out steaming hot. The pancakes were pretty standard. They were big, thick pancakes indeed, but they, too, lacked richness in the flavor. But the portion size and freshness makes this place a great value. It was good food for the price. So I'd definitely try this place again, but I don't think I've found my go-to brunch place yet...

We went here as a quick stop before the pearl harbor memorial. Basically it is the Hawaiian version of waffle house-- cheap, lots of variety and some Hawaiian originals! As long as you are not expecting resort style breakfast this place is fine! Food is solid, fast and friendly service. We paid $30 for 7 people and everyone was stuffed!

Shortstack of buttermilk pancakes with a side of fried rice :] Shared by two and under $7, And to think that people line up to eat McDonalds right next door... People really don't know where good food is found anymore.

At first visit, I had pancakes and ham with egg plate. It was NOT ham but lunch meat, like Os**r M**er Ham. (-_- ;) That lunch meat taste like it was spoiled! YUCK!!! Also, They don't serve brown rice. I was surprised. Zippy's even serve brown rice. Second visit, I ordered pancakes and Denver omelet. It was good. They did used REAL ham this time. (^o^) yay But, they put one banana pancake in a middle of original pancakes. I understand it's accident if it was on a top or bottom. In a middle??? You would think, hey lucky you, who doesn't like banana pancake, right? I don't... I eat banana only because it's good for you not by choice. Especially cooked! (unless it's tamale made by green banana) Hate the texture of cooked ripe banana~! (help) It's not like they were busy. Half of the dinning table were empty. So was outdoor seating. I would give four stars for their pancake, though. (personally, I like my pancake fluffier) Overall, including bad lunch meat and banana accident... two stars.

We really enjoy this place. Normally get an XL Guava juice to drink but my breakfast picks always change. Definitely will be back!

  • Daisy S.

The pancake is good, the omelets I like best! They are cheap and very generous in portions. And, it was like almost next door to my office. So, what lease can I say? I love it, of course!!

    (3)
  • Tiffany M.

Cheap and some what decent breakfast. The reason its getting a one star is because service sucks. You get what you pay for but I think receive better service at Zippy's. You place your order at the counter and a employee brings your order to you. Make sure you look through your order because chances are something is missing. It took them a while to get it right and that was after we argued with them about it.

  • Lana H.

Never been disappointed with their food. I'm a creature of habit when it comes to my fried rice, sunny side egg & portugese sausage. My son had the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes & a side of bacon. Short stack, I thought we got the wrong food delivered. They were big enough to cover the bottom of the plate and stacked 3 high. Fluffy, light, moist and fresh. The pancakes, not my son :) What I like about the Koa Pancake House chain is that the food is consistant which ever restaurant you go to. Some other chains deviate from the recipes so the menu item tastes different when you eat at other spots. Can't go wrong with the prices and serving size. The others that posted about service not being up to par, this is not a "table service" restaurant. It is a courtesy that they bring out the food to tables. As for the portion sizes being small, have you been to Zippy's lately? Their prices keep going up but somehow that factors in that the portions shrinking. There was enough food for the price!

My family and I frequent this place often because my chiropractor is nearby..but I don't think we'll be coming back. When we go here I usually order the same thing, a ham, mushroom, and cheese omelette and I alternate between fried rice and pancakes. Today when my mom and I had breakfast here, we shared this particular breakfast plate. We were enjoying our meal and chatting away when all of a sudden my mom gets really quiet and takes something out of her mouth and puts it on her napkin. Turns out it was a piece of wire steel!!!! Probably from when they mix the eggs for their omelettes?! I was so disgusted! I walked up to tell them about it and the worker went to the back to tell the cooks about what happened then she comes out and asks me, "Do you want another omlette?" I told her no, cause why would I want another omelette that might have something in it? Or they'll just spit in it cause I complained. You never know! THen she asks me, "Well what do you want me to do about it?" I told her she needs to tell the cooks to throw that stupid steel brush away. I was so irritated. Afterwards, my mom and I couldn't eat the rest of our meal so we just picked the meat out of our fried rice. When we were finished, my mom ended up going and complaining again and so they gave her store credit. They probably wouldn't have given it if she hadn't complained. I'm so disappointed in this place because we've been long time customers and it doesn't seem as if they want to keep their customers. Their portions have also gotten smaller and smaller. Ugh!

  • Jeremy N.

This place used to be my sunday morning standard to help cure the hangover. Somehow they manage to squeeze about a pound of bacon and cheese each into a three egg omelet. The wheat toast here is also really dam good and it's buttered perfectly every time. Highly recommended if you are into cheese, bacon, and eggs.

    (4)
  • Oly C.

I was really disappointed in their pancakes! If you put pancakes as your business title you better excel at it! I also tried the loco moco--not bad but not spectacular. Ample seating, except on Sunday mornings. Parking in this area can be a hassle during lunch hours.

    (2)
  • April C.

Had the loco moco. Rice was dry, gravy was flavorless and the hamburger patty was bland. Friend had the pancakes...we've both has better. Won't be back.

  • Jennine T.

This is the closest breakfast place to where we live. We go here about once a month. I always get different things. The food is generally very good. I've tried a bunch of things--pancakes (original, pecan, banana, blueberry, and chocolate chip), omelettes (most recently I had port. sausage, onion, green pepper, and cheddar cheese). . . my husband always gets the loco moco. My father-in-law gets the steak plate with eggs. . . everything tastes pretty good. Once I got the potatoes and they weren't cooked all the way, but I just brought them up and they cooked them more. I like that there is outside seating. And there are a couple flavored syrups--like coconut, but they aren't on every table. . . they are near the water dispenser. If you are in Aiea and want breakfast. . . this is a great place.

  • Anita L.

This chain serves up some cheap tasty breakfast and lunch type foods. I ordered the spinach, mushroom and cheese omelette with 2 scoops of rice for myself and the 'lite bite' for my 5 yr old. It consisted of 2 pancakes, your choice of bacon or sausage and an egg cooked your way. He must've been very hungry because he ate all except half a pancake. You order your food and they bring it out to you. It's fast even though it's very busy all the time.

  • Cynthia L.

Great pancakes! Very soft, moist, and buttery...top it off with some coconut syrup and you will be in pancake heaven.

    (4)
  • Andy D.

While its definitely not my favorite place to eat breakfast, the price really can't be beat. They have a huge selection of different types of breakfasts, ranging from crepes, to loco mocos, and of course, they have pancakes. On my last visit, we got two early bird specials (3 pancakes, 2 eggs) and it was only $6 total for both. The eggs were perfectly cooked, albeit a little greasy. The pancakes were okay, but the texture was way too soft and mushy, even before I put any syrup on them. Still it's a great deal, and I will definitely be returning.

    (3)
  • Brandon G.

i love this place!!! every time i come to visit my mom takes me here this is our breakfast spot . Portuguese sausage ,eggs and rice ... is always a winner ... so simple yet satisfying .

  • Andrew F.

Huge selection of different breakfast foods. Don't expect anything fancy, this place does the basics and it does it well. Paper plates and everything. Pancakes were very good and the amount you got as a "side order" was huge. Coupled with some syrup and butter they were very yummy. Omelet was good but not the best I've ever had. But then again, this place was cheap and fast with no frills.

  • Junie B. J.

I loved, loved, loved the Koa. It had the best French toast ever I tell you! It was scrumpdili-icious. And then what do you know, Mother had the spinach, bacon, cheese omelet and it was super stuffed with lots of yummy bacon and cheese. The service was friendly and the food came super fast, on account of the cook really was good at scramblering his eggs and flippering his pancakes. We'll come back here again soon, I tell you!

  • Shannon C.

We order breakfast here for take out about once or twice a week. My husband loves their corned beef hash. That's what he orders all the time. I love their pancakes....banana, chocolate chip, blueberry...yummy!

  • Ann M.

Went here for breakfast. The food was great. I had the spinach, mushroom and cheese omelette and it was perfect. Very tasty. Order came out fast. The portion was huge and totally worth the price. I don't know why people would go to McDonalds when this place is here.

    (4)
  • J A.

Went there with my daughter and boyfriend for the first time. Not bad, reminds me of any typical breakfast places. My daughter didn't really like the fried rice but I did. And my boyfriend polished off his plate. Got the buttermilk pancakes, again nothing spectacular.

  • Sandy B.

Really good prices and really good food. You cant beat corned beef hash with some ono coco pancakes and some rice in the morning. Will always be back for more.

  • Esther C.

Two big thumbs up for the Koa Pancake House! Love the pancakes. There's something special about it and noticeably sweeter than your ordinary generic pancake. I also had the veggie omlette which was ginormous and they put some bok choy and celery which gave it a nice crunch. Both items were less than $6. I love Hawaii and I love Koa! I wish they had more of these great eats out in California!

    (4)
  • Ikaika T.

For some reason I love their coffee. I think they put MSG in side of it. Their prices has gone up since the "hana bada" days of old but it's still my kid time (and adult time) favorite - when i'm in Kaneohe that is. I moved to Honolulu to be close to work and I can't find something like Koa Pancake House. The portions are huge - even if you have a big apatite you're sure to be full with quite a few bills left in the wallet. The previous comment is right, they do bring the food fast, and if you're (and the people you are with) are fast eaters then you can expect to be done with breakfast/brunch within 30 mins.

    (5)
  • Jenna R.

For cheap eats, Koa can't be beat. I still dream of the coconut and other exotically flavored syrups, all served in the odd, ramshackle chalet-style building. Oh, macadamia-banana pancakes, how do I love thee!

    (4)
  • Kelly Y.

love this place! i always order the fried rice one egg or if i'm splitting with my boyfriend, he gets the buttermilk pancakes and i just eat the spam and rice side order...we go there often so they are really friendly with us esp the owner! they also bring your order to your table happily

    (5)
  • L K.

i'd rather give them 2 1/2, but i'm feeling generous and i go there too often to say i don't like them. i find their pancakes too salty. too much baking soda perhaps? but, they are a good deal and you get a lot. i'm also a big fan of their loco moco. but only on the weekends. i've had it several times during the week (tuesday/thursday) and the meat tasted a bit off. i've never had to pray to the porcelain gods but i have stopped halfway because i didn't want to chance it. i don't know if they don't turn over their stock from the weekend, but i have to stop myself when i have cravings in the middle of the week. despite this, i'm ok with giving them three stars just based on value. it's $6 and it covers the whole plate. there's a proper amount of heft when we get a full stack of pancakes and a loco moco.

  • Brittney S.

BEST BREAKFAST WE'VE HAD IN HAWAII! You can mix pancakes and I got chocolate chip banana pancakes! They were so amazing! Not too sweet! I ordered a full stack so that I can eat some for breakfast tomorrow and the next day! My better half got the Loco Moco with fried rice and it is covered in the most delicious gravy ever! Definitely better than the other Loco Moco dishes we have tried! We got Guava Juice to drink and it is perfect! It tastes like a tea more than a sugary juice!

  • Elle B.

Reasonable prices and so many selections for breakfast! There were like 5 ladies working at the front (which to me was a little odd) but they were all very nice. I ordered the corn beef hash and macadamia nut pancakes. To be honest, I think the OG pancake house is better. The corn beef hash wasn't crispy the way I like and the macadamia nuts weren't consistent in texture (some were harder than the other). But the pancake itself was more fluffy! One of the nice ladies even brings the food to you if you're eating there. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to return the condiments to the front, but I did anyway out of courtesy. Make sure to clean up after yourself! Anyway, I'd recommend for anyone to try this place if they're looking for a local breakfast spot with plenty of selections and good prices. The parking can be a disaster though so just a heads up.

I have mixed feelings about Koa Pancake House. Despite the name "pancake house", their pancakes are just okay. I make better pancakes with Bisquick at home. This restaurant has a wide variety of breakfast menu items. They have omelettes, meat and egg combos, eggs benedicts, fried rice and a few plate lunch options. You place an order with the cashiers who don't seem too happy to be there, have a seat and they will bring your food to you. There are quite a number of tables, but this place is a little busy, so I usually grab a table while my other half orders. Most of the time, the tables are clean, sometimes sticky or there is food under the table lingering from a previous customer. So why do I come here? It's two minutes from my house. I prefer to go to the original pancake house in Kalihi where the flapjacks are out of this world. The prices here are decent, but this is not my favorite pancake joint.

  • Karin L.

Nice little pancake house. Very clean. The ladies that are working are nice. My husband and I had a late brunch here. He got a tall stack of banana pancakes (5 pancakes) and I got the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes (3 pancakes). We also got an order of potatoes and pork link sausage to share. After eating we realized that we got way more food then we could eat. My husband has a healthy appetite and we agreed he would have been plenty full with the short stack. I couldn't even finish half of my pancakes. They are large pancakes. We were disappointed with the potatoes though. They didn't seem like the outside was properly scrubbed but, the inside was cooked well enough. We won't get them again. The sausage links were good. They were the traditional links that you would think of. Perfect amount for splitting! Overall, we would go back. Large portions for a reasonable price. And it's a cozy little pancake house.

Great place if you're craving breakfast type of food. They have pretty much everything. Pancakes, waffles, omelets, benedicts, etc. The staff are friendly. The lady even brought our food out to our table. I had the eggs benedict with fried rice. Super delicious! You could also get it with regular white rice or potatoes. I've tried the eggs benedict from Koa's in Kapolei but the one here is honestly so much more tasty. I will definitely come back to eat here if I'm in the area :-)

Sunday Morning rain is falling..... Well, the weather was Hawaii perfection (sunny with blue skies), but the "rain" may have been the tears I was shedding as I left this place. A friend and I were looking for a place for breakfast that was near and convenient. Since time was of the essence, we wanted go somewhere that wasn't too crowded (we nixed the idea of Anna Miller's right away), but a place that was a step (or so we thought) above McDonald's. Enter Koa Pancake House. Located on mid-level of Aiea Shopping Center, there was ample parking available when we stopped by for breakfast on a recent Sunday Morning. Seating is plentiful indoors, while there are some tables outside as well (though I think they don't belong to this business specifically but are tables for Aiea Shopping Center patrons). The breakfast menu is extensive and I decided on the portuguese sausage with eggs and pototoes, while my friend chose the corned beef has with eggs with the fried rice upgrade. The VERDICT: It was barely ok. The Portuguese sausage and eggs were just alright, but the potatoes were dry and bland. My friend didn't finish his food. He claimed the corned beef must have been from a can, while the fried rice was "not good" at all. Needless to say, we won't be back. NOTE: Funny thing about this place was that it was extremely crowded when we were leaving. BOTTOM LINE: Once was enough. I'll be at McDonald's on Sunday mornings for the time being.

The food is decent, and most of the ladies that work there are nice - but a few are less than nice. And I don't get some of their policies - I tried to sub a side piece of French toast for a pancake bc they are the same price - but was told "no can." I told her I was willing to pay an up charge even tho they cost the exact same, and was again told "no can." Really? Why no can?? That's just bad business and makes no sense at all...

My check-in's right now say that I've only Checked in here 3 times and I'm duke, which is surprising. I have come here more than 3 times, as well as tried other things. But this review will be more oriented in my experience with service and my choice of platter. Walking in you'll see booths to your left and tables straight on and on your right, it's usually not very busy in the early mornings as I am currently writing as I wait for my food at 8:01AM. The walk down to the cashier makes you relax as you realize how local themed this place is. The community who eats here are generally regulars as I have become. Every time I walk in here now, it's because their Buttermilk Shortstack for only $3.75 before take. Way better than McDonald's hot cakes that amount to $5 when you're at the cashier. They leave a small ramekin of soft balled butter they scoop out of a huge bag they get. The pancakes are served so hot they smoke. I was just given my plate and this smell is to die for. Be right back.

Order the Red Velvet Pancakes!!!! They are amazing, fluffy, and confection-ly delicious! We went 2 mornings in a row and I couldn't stray from them! I did try the mac nut pancajes, but wasn't as happy.. but it might be because I got 1 mac nut and 1 red velvet... so it never stood a chance! Their omelets are fluffy and offer a variety of ingredients. Get excited about breakfast!

I can always count on Koa's to satisfy my breakfast cravings (and at a decent price, too) First off, when it comes to breakfast, eggs and rice are my staple. Koa's perfectly cooks their eggs and rice. I don't like going to a restaurant and being served rice that is either too mushy or too hard, or eggs that are...the same way, actually :( Koa's has very good Portuguese sausage and pancakes, too :) I think they're hollandaise sauce could be better, but ehh :p

FYI, not all Koa Pancake Houses are the same or priced the same. The Kaneohe one is $12.95 for steak n eggs. The one here in Aiea is $8.95 and way better!

It's packed this morning. Not an empty seat. Long line for takeout and order. Line moves fairly fast however need to find a seat. Good usually good like the corn beef hash and eggs. And vinha d'alhos slightly too salty but good taste and soft.

  • Robert T.

The food is very good and price is right. You can't go wrong at this place. The steak breakfast is really good. I think it's only $9 and they cook it the way I like it. I think it's seasoned with salt and charbroiled. Nothing fancy about this place but the food and service top notch for a fast casual dining. I've been here many times and tried a lot of different plates and I never left here disappointed.

Koa pancake house has your all way breakfast. They have straight breakfast menu and a sweets breakfasts menu. I love how they have a wide selection in waffles and pancakes. The syrups are too die for!

For $11 and change I got kalbi + eggs with a side stack of 3 macadamia nut pancakes. The food came out within a few minutes and was brought directly to my table. I've yet to be disappointed with kalbi at any restaurant, Koa now included; the meat was delectably sweet. Eggs were cooked as ordered (over medium, just the right amount of runny egg yolk). The namesake pancakes were without a doubt the highlight of my very filling breakfast: thick and fluffy and SO good with their coconut and lilikoi syrup! Seriously, make sure you grab your preferred condiments by the water/napkins/etc station to the left by the counter, they make the meal. What you see is what you get: fairly fast, cheap, diner quality food. If you're looking for anything else, look elsewhere.

I like that Koa has a variety of breakfast selections. I tried 3 different pancakes (Macadamia Nut, Red Velvet and Blueberry). They were all good but I am partial to the blueberry. We all ordered Eggs n Things with different choices of sausage, canadian bacon and corned beef hash. Make sure you're hungry. Decent prices and the wait wasn't too bad for our party of 7. Staff was friendly and did not rush us to order. GO try it out!

I looovvveeeee this place. Their prices are really good and so is the food. They have a lot of local breakfast and brunch options, as well as some of the classics. I always make sure to order a red velvet pancake with my breakfast. Yummy! Everyone that works here is super friendly and the service is always fast.

Very traditional, mom and pop style restaurant. The location has free parking which is a plus here! The food was really good as well. It tasted like something my mom and dad would cook for me at home. The place wasn't crowded at all which is awesome when you're really craving a home cooked meal. The prices were great in comparison to other places on the island. I got pancakes, eggs, and corned beef hash all under $7. My buddy got an omelette which also came with a short stack! We both had a difficult time finishing everything because it was so much food. I would definitely recommend this place to all the pancake and waffle lovers out there!

Can't go wrong with Koa Pancake House. Originally went to Aiea Bowl to dine in but they were packed as usual. I've been to other Koa Pancake House's across Oahu so I figured why not grab a bite to eat here. The workers were quick to greet us and were very courteous. Food was out promptly and also tasted great. If I ever find myself around this area again, I will definitely be coming back.

I used to love Koa Pancake House for one reason, and one reason only: pancakes. If what you make is in your restaurant name, you sure as hell better make it good. I used to work in this area and found that getting a stack of 3 buttermilk pancakes for $3.75 was my perfect cheap brunch/breakfast. It was filling, fluffy, and provided that buttery kick for the start of your day. To give a fair warning, I didn't like their strawberry pancakes. You're basically paying an extra $3.00 for a small side of strawberries in syrup to add to your regular pancakes. I don't usually think price should be a big issue because each restaurant and customer has different standards for prices. Unfortunately, it was just not worth it for me and I must stick with the basics: small stack buttermilk pancakes. I honestly have no interest in their other items as they were not unique or special. I've never had any real bad problems with service: they take my food order, give me food, and I'm content with that. I almost always double check when doing take out orders anywhere. It's a great habit to start, if you don't already do it. I take my butter very seriously, and they forgot it during a few of my visits - an easy mistake with an easy fix. But you don't want to get the wrong order or find out you're missing something, and then obsess about wasting gas on your drive back to get the right one.

Great location! It's literally 5 minutes from us so it's so nice to just drop by on a Sunday morning instead of having to drive to town just for breakfast food. Quality is actually pretty decent for the price! I ordered the trio & eggs with pancakes and I was soooo full. The pancakes even stay warm for a while after it's placed on your table! My boyfriend got the Mac nut pancakes but I enjoyed my plain order just fine :P we did have to ask for our fried rice because it wasn't given with the rest our food but that wasn't a big deal. It's a really small spot, or maybe the table set up is bad so I don't really suggest coming here for a "catch up date" with your girlfriends. I heard every detail of this girl's life at the table next to us..... Sorry but not interested in your drama lol. But the food is here is the perfect breakfast fix which is why it's worth coming back :)

I'm not big on pancakes, but my wife loves these and I'll have to admit they aren't half bad. What I do love here is the Kalbi and eggs. Great combo that I would have never thought of. Just like steak and eggs but that's boring, kalbi is the way to go! Mahimahi eggs benedict is pretty awesome too. Everything is huge portions so be warned, come hungry. Great place to get brunch before/after the Aloha stadium swap meet.

This is our go to breakfast spot or the one by the NEX. Pretty good if u dont mind racing to get a table before someone else which is a bit intimidating the first few times. It gets crowded and tables are extremely close so I always feel like I'm gonna knock someone's food or drink over trying to squeeze by into the booth side lol We developed a routine where one of sits with our son while the other waits in the long but fast line to order. Aside from that the food is consistent at both locations but haven't tried the others. Good selection of breakfast and lunch dishes. Usually go with KOA omelet with house potatoes. Pancakes are always fluffy and eggs benedict were better than other places. Our son enjoys the trio plate and the portions are generous. Great spot to grab a filling quick breakfast. We choose this place any day over the usual IHOP experience.

Sundays are the most awesome brunch days of the week! You sleep in and either decide you want to make breakfast or get breakfast. Well I cook 5 days out of the week. Is it so wrong for me to ask my other half to take care of at least one meal? He takes care of it all right, with a hand delivered breakfast from Koa Pancake House. I'm not looking for anything fancy with them. I just want the ease of breakfast food quickly delivered to fuel our day. The service is quick. The food is diverse and consistently satisfying. This Aiea spot is located in the Aiea Shopping Center, on the second floor by McDonalds. Parking can be difficult to find on this level when competing with equally fast breakfast spot McD's. However, you can still access it from either level. You'll just be a LITTLE farther. To be EXTRA lazy, call in your order. That way you can pick up and pay.

Ordered blueberry short stack pancakes this morning. Rather chewy, tasted under cooked :/. Service is less than mediocre; watched one lady eat through her omelette and waited approx what felt like 20 minutes to receive her whole wheat toast. Oh btw don't be fooled by the orange juice, guava juice and pineapple juice on their menu. I saw the waitress pop open several Aloha Maid cans into a jug. They charge: $1.35 (small) , $1.75( medium) & $2.25 (large). Why not just charge .98-$1 for the can itself?.. Overall, not impressed by quality of food and service.

I remember coming here often during my days as a student at 'Aiea (inter and HS) and it would just be an awesome place to have breakfast, brunch, and/or lunch. Most of the time, I would get take out but the dine in experience is pretty good too. They usually have the omlettle specials and I would get that it would be just awesome with a stack of hot cakes and fill da belly up real good for the day. They are conveniently located on the second floor of the 'Aiea Shopping Center close to where McDonalds and Aiea Copy Center is at. They have a decent amount table and seating areas inside and a couple outside. The customer service is good. The prices are decent enough for your typical local kine grind place. I like how they have an assortment of condiments on each table. They have water cups available next to the register counter so it's not like you are forced to get a drink with your meal and suffer from thirst. The waffles are ok for me. I usually like it hard and cripsy but theirs is more on the softer side. The vibe and atmosphere is nice especially during weekday mornings.

We usually go to Kapolei or Salt Lake location but the food is pretty consistent across all restaurants. Lite bite with chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs plus a side order of corned beef hash is enough food for me and a ten year old for lunch. Only $10! Good deal and good food. Make sure you come before 2pm because they close early. Be careful while eating outside in Salt lake, the birds may try to steal your food.

My husband, 4 kids and I came here for breakfast one morning and sure they were pretty busy, but there should be no excuse for everyone in our group to get their food except me and be watching people 10+ after me get their food served to them. None. I went up to the counter and asked for my money back despite it just coming out. My family was already done eating. I would be a return customer had she offered to comp my meal, but she didn't. This place is always busy when I come so I think they probably don't care how dissatisfied customers are handled. They need to realize there are LOTS of other places out there to eat. I'm going THERE.

HUGE portions! 7 bucks gets you 2 eggs, a 1/3 pound hamburger patty and a giant mound of fried rice. I basically got steak and eggs or a gravy-less loco moco. Almost went for the corned beef hash and eggs but wasn't feeling the canned stuff today (I can make that at home). Hamburger Patty was fresh and formed from ground beef by hand. Pancakes are pretty bomb too. Optimal consumption is within the first 7 minutes. After that, it got cold and the texture goes away. Overall pretty good food. Simple take out spot, and good service.

For what it is, it's great. And that, for us, is convenience, fair pricing, and good food. Notice I did not say OUTSTANDING or AMAZING, but good. Pancakes are good, fried rice loco moco is good, bacon is good......er!

Although it's called a pancake house I enjoyed they're French toast. I was anticipating just regular loaf bread but to my pleasant surprise they used sweet bread. It was light and not too sweet. I don't know why I never thought of using sweet bread for my French toast, because it is amazing. Besides the French toast we also got a plate that consisted of two eggs, 4 slices of Portuguese sausage, and a bunch of potatoes. All of it was enough to share with 2-3 people depending how hungry you are. I would've given them a full 5 stars, but the friendliness from the staff wasn't consistent. I'm guessing some were grumpy because it was morning. Oh well as long the food is good right?!

Since the weather isn't nice my friends and I decided on just having breakfast here. I suggested pancakes Dawn suggested this place. Parked on the lower level of Aiea Shopping Center since Dawn forgot where this place was located and had already turned into the lot. That's alright. Took the escalators up. There weren't much parties yet and we were still deciding on what to order. Noe pointed out the Lite Bite since Dawn and I couldn't finish the bigger plates they had to order the last time we dined in. Dawn and I basically ordered the same thing. Lol. She had to ask what I got. After we ordered we sat ourselves at one of the tables and waited for our food to arrive. We got cups of water as we waited. Noe's food came before ours. Dawn and my plate came together. I made the mistake of adding the syrup before the butter so I added it between the pancakes. Not like I was the only one doing that. I have satisfied my pancake craving... for now. The bacon was a bit crispy biting into it... The eggs. Reminded me of my mother's cooking, not fluffy. Since I didn't have rice, I didn't eat my eggs and bacon with ketchup. So that part was plain.

    (3)

They only get a one because the red velvet waffle was good. But I saw 2 cockroaches while eating so I couldn't finish. Just disgusting! Do not go here! I never will

  • Bryanie R.

I think the mistake I personally made was getting the omelet and eggs. I mean, if I'm gonna go to a "pancake house", might as well get pancakes right? I could've just made eggs at home! But eh, that's alright. Next time I'm gonna have to try their pancakes, seems to be good according to other yelpers. I think the good thing about my meal was that I was able to substitute rice for fried rice. It came out to about 10 dollars... again, not a wise choice for me. Could've eaten that for way less at home. I like how this place is very spaced out and casual, though. Very nice open environment to enjoy your food. Not bad, not bad.

No explanations necessary. Being of filipino descent and used to eating non-traditional breakfast items during my younger years, this place brought me back to that time. Spam, eggs, rice, ketchup. Boom done.

I've heard great things about this place. And I have to say, it wasn't anything that stood out like HOLY HELL BESTEST PLACE EVER but it is somewhere that I would recommend for breakfast or to go again. For whatever reason in my head I thought Koa Pancake House was going to be like Ihop - a sit down, get breakfast anytime kind of place. It was fast food counter service - order at the front, take a seat, someone brings your food to the table. It's a small place so it's easy to get the order to the proper person. I got portugese sausage with eggs over easy with pancakes and a side of rice. Well now, I didn't realize the pancakes had 3 to the order and my rice was 2 scoops. I was going to get rice with the pancakes as the side but the lovely girl working the register told me it's more cost effective to do it with pancakes and then get my rice as a side. She probably saved me like 2-3 dollars. Service was great and friendly which is why I gave the restaurant 4 stars. I felt like I was treated as an individual, the girl at the register made a great suggestion and saved me money, and the person that delivered my food was also super friendly and brought my tray with a smile. Food was good and tasty, just as I expected. Again, its GOOD but not TO DIE FOR breakfast. Plus was fast. I was very pleased with my experience at this location... and to think, I almost went to the drive through of a different fast food restaurant. 31 day Yelp Challenge 21/31

Yuck!! I am not talking about the flavor of the food because we never ate it. My boyfriend ordered hash and rice & eggs. While he's mixing his egg with the fried rice and about to dig in, I see a big cockroach in his rice!! I stop him and our appetites were gone!! We showed the lady who looked at us like we put it there :/ and made sure to get our money back ASAP! The lady then showed it to the cooks in the back and they didnt even look like they cared. We have NEVER had this happen to us before! We are NEVER eating at this location again!! P.S. when we ordered our food we chose the fried rice because lots of people were eating it, if they only knew!

This is not Eggs 'n Things. We went here on a recommendation and a review that the food was so good. I can only say...meh. The Good: - Self-serve ice-cold water - Long list of things on the menu with some lunch items as well - Nice decorations in the seating area - Prices were not too crazy The Not so Good: - Pancakes are pancakes. If you use the word "pancake" in the name of your place, you better have something good up your sleeve. Not the case here. - Dirty tables, floors, chairs, windows.... - Crowded seating. We had to stake our claim even before we ordered just so we could sit down. - Greasy food. Sorry, but I like to eat breakfast and not feel like I'm growing new pimples. Some might say you have to use a lot of grease to cook some breakfast foods. I'll answer, no you don't: I cook a very light-on-the-grease breakfast all the time. Bottom line: If I got really hungry, I might go back here, but it will not be on the top half of my list. I might even go so far as to say I would go to IHOP before here. And if I can get to an Eggs 'n Things, I won't even take a second look at this place again.

After a morning of hiking and the flea market my husband and i were starving we found this little place i didn't try the pancakes, I had the spinach mushroom cheese omelette and added bacon (1.00) and my husband had there Omelette special with those orders you get a choice of rice, toast, pancake or potatoes. We both got potatoes. it was all very delicious you get what you pay for here the meals are great to share they are a pretty big size. The girls working all seem to work hard (even though i felt like they were starring most of the time) I would defiantly come back here when I'm in the area.

Dear Koa Pancake House, Thank you for you gracious hospitality. I know the only reason I was there is because 49ers was too crowded but I appreciate you being there for us as an alternative breakfast stop. I must commend you on your staff they are very very pleasant and always smiling. Thats always nice to see. I apologize though if I think your food is only average. But, your prices ARE reasonable so, I think that balanced out. Thanks again PS. Sorry we used all the syrup.

This place is on the second floor of the plaza if you've never been. We stopped by here for a quick bite to eat on our way to North Shore. You place your order up front before grabbing a table. They'll call your number out and you just flag them down. We ordered the strawberry pancakes and a side of corned beef hash. The hash is pretty good (almost like how my mom makes it at home) except pretty greasy. It soaked right through the plate! The pancakes are decent. You get HUGE portions. If you order the strawberry, it comes with whipped cream all over the top. Service is pretty quick and friendly too.

I've been to the Koa Pancake House in Kaneohe, and not really anywhere else... but I tried this one recently! The Good: *Eggs Benedict was yummy in mah tummy *Private parking lot *No busy line The Bad: *No wait service. You kinda just go in, order in the front then sit down. Totally different from the one in Kaneohe! Kaneohe one is like a full-on homestyle restaurant (which I like more) *Served on paper plates - small kine ghetto. *I spent $13 on a breakfast -- that's crazy! The Weird: *The whole experience from Kaneohe to this one in Aiea was weird for me. I think their restaurant chain should be consistent - like all restaurant style or all... like the one in Aiea. It was a different experience at Koa Pancake House for me. To the point where it didn't even feel like I was at Koa Pancake House :( -- cuz the one in Kaneohe they make you feel like your at home, you have wait service, and the service is great. Not at Aiea.

Poor customer service! Came for sunday breakfast and staff wasnt very friendly. I placed my order and when my food came they got the side order wrong so I brought it back to the counter and informed the worker. She didn't say sorry or anything just took it and yelled the correct item to the cooks. It was a more expensive side then I ordered but no one offered my money back. They took forever getting my correct side. I went up to check after a while and the woman said its coming in a rude tone. I saw my side waiting at the window when she said that. I love the wahiawa location. Ill never waste my time and money here again. Too stressful. Staff needs training in maners and customer service!

The girls that work here are so sweet, I really wanted to like the place. But almost worse than getting bad food is getting forgettable food. The food here was so bland I don't even want to write a review. I got the breakfast platter - undercooked bacon, over medium eggs, and the plainest breakfast potatoes I've ever tasted in my life. I know the place is bad when I'm not finishing bacon or potatoes. Those are two of my favorite things in the whole world :( This spot clearly stays open for the convenience of the location.

Wonderful breakfast place to go to. Great portions and wonderful variety. The prices are about right too. The pancakes are light and fluffy. Chocolate chip and blueberry are a must try. There are no special syrups for the pancakes though, except maple and coconut. The kalbi has awesome flavor. The other breakfast stuff such as the bacon and omelets are good but nothing unique. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots. The weekends tend to be busy, esp later morning. Its located on the second floor in the Aiea shopping center. Calling in takeout is the way to go! ^_^*~
