Lots of regulars show up at opening. Service is nice and attentive. The food is dialed down in spice for the locals so make sure you order it spicy if you are used to thai food. Good but not great. Pass on the flavorless fish cakes.

So I'm Thai... and on occasion my Mom will want to eat Thai food when we're out and about. Normally she likes Souvaly (and on occasion Bangkok Chef - but both places are hit or miss with the cooks)... but one of her friends told her that Champa Thai has really good food so she wanted to give it a try. Champa Thai is located in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center across from Pearlridge. Depending when you go (peak hours) parking can be tight but it's A LOT better now that 24 Hour Fitness moved next to Sam's Club. We went for lunch one day and we arrived probably 45 minutes prior to closing. I guess they close in between lunch and dinner?? I know Souvaly does this as well... I really don't get the point in it but eh... it is what it is. Service was mediocre. The woman who was serving us wasn't rude but she definitely wasn't friendly. She KNEW my Mom is Thai because my Mom was TALKING to her in Thai, but she kind of had a "hurry up/sassy" attitude which I didn't appreciate. So I was curt with her and perhaps she got the point because she was a little nicer after that. Not much though. I ordered the pad thai with pork and my Mom ordered the pad seew with shrimp. We waited about 10 minutes for our food. It came out hot and made to order. The pad Thai was your average pad Thai - but EXTRA SWEET. My Mom said they added WAY too much sugar in it. The portion is also REALLY SMALL for the price. My Mom's pad seew was nothing fancy as well and it was lacking in flavor and again, the portion was VERY SMALL. The noodles weren't soft and there were very few shrimp in the dish, and of course you pay a little extra for shrimp! The shrimp was tough and overcooked as well. Souvaly AND Bangkok Chef make WAAAAY better pad Thai and pad seew than Champa Thai, AND they give WAY MORE! I mean my Mom makes the BEST pad thai and pad seew but HEY, we're out and about so we have every right to have lunch at a Thai restaurant if that's what we're craving! Needless to say... minus one star for borderline RUDE service, minus one star for LESS THAN SUB PAR Thai food, minus one star for it not being the cleanest Thai restaurant that I've been to, and minus one star for small portions for the price paid... I know you have loyal fans and customers, but for us, Champa Thai, thanks, but no thanks!

This is a favorite among several of my friends. The food is absolutely delicious and the service was attentive and prompt. It's a clean and nicely decorated place in a strip mall. My problem is that I get horrible migraine headaches from MSG. The waitress told us that they DO add MSG to their food, but she assured me that they COULD make it without MSG. So I asked for my food without MSG. Within a couple of hours I had the worst migraine headache I can remember. I was absolutely miserable until about lunch time the next day when the headache finally started to wear off. I won't be going back to Campa Thai.

I have eaten here several times. It is close to my office and fairly inexpensive. They spice to taste if you request it, but I usually add spice anyway. The restaurant is clean, the food is good, and the service is nice. If you want decent Thai on a budget then this is the place to go. They have most of the standard Thai menu items. No complaints.

When you're on a diet, it's sometimes difficult to make the right choices at restaurants. That being my case, I decided to try my luck at my nearby Thai restaurant. I knew rice, heavily drenched coconut curries, and fried stuff were out. Actually, it wasn't as hard as I thought. We decided on the green papaya salad (3.75 stars); Tom Yum with chicken (3.5 stars); and #60 with shrimp (sorry I forgot the name, but it was a long bean and cabbage dish with Thai spices in some coconut and slivers of amazing ginger) (4.75 stars). All this with a bottle of Thai beer and I was set. I left totally satisfied and the service remains attentive and prompt (4 stars). What more could you ask for. A perfect night that was light on the wallet and love handles. Tally: Green Papaya Salad: 3.75 stars Tom Yum w/ chicken: 3.5 stars #60: 4.75 stars Service: 4 stars 3.75+3.5+4.75+4= 16/4= 4 stars.

My oldest son brought me here for Mother's Day dinner since we couldn't get reservations at the pineapple room. The restaurant was pretty much empty and we got seated right away. It took a while for someone to come take our order, it looked like the take out orders were getting overwhelming. We ordered the fried calamari, pad Thai, yellow curry and sticky rice. We ordered medium spice, and that was really hot for me, my eyes were watering. I'm part Korean so that's saying something. Other than that, the food was great. My son was very pleased and said everything was "legit" (his all time favorite word meaning good). This restaurant is located in the heart of Pearl Kai. The parking is usually tight here. We parked in front of coco Ichibanya where there were plenty of open spaces and walked a couple of minutes. Prices are fair, around $9 to $11 a dish depending what meat or tofu you choose. Staff not the friendliest but they did not mess up our order and got the job done. I got to enjoy some quality time with my oldest child and it was a good dinner.

I have mix results for this place. The food was ok. Not the greatest, but the service was fantastic. I got the honey shrimp thinking it would be like the Chinese version of Honey Walnut. I was wrong. It's deep friend breaded shrimp drizzled with honey. And I got the bitter melon curry with beef. Average. The servers were great and very attentive. There weren't that many people there so our waiting staff checked up on me every few mins. This was a great surprise since it was a late Friday night. I'm sure if I stuck to dishes I'm more familiar with I would give this place a higher rating. Standby for round two.

I have been coming here for years- and though the service and location are not ideal and parking is always a drag- the authentic Thai food is to die for. I stick with the Thai sticky rice, beef broccoli, chicken Tom kha, pad Thai, shrimp toast and the beef sateh. Don't forget to try the Thai iced tea!!

The last time I was in here was years ago, a good 8+ years ago. I remember the food being tasty then but the service lacking. I remember finding hair in my food, telling the waitress about it, and getting an insincere apology. This afternoon, I decided to give them another try. I placed a phone order: pineapple curry with chicken, medium spice, and an order of white rice. When I arrived to pick up my order, there were only 2 customers dining in and yet, my order wasn't ready. Hmm, okay. When my order was read back to me before paying, apparently I had ordered red curry and not pineapple curry. The girl at the front TRIED to show concern for the incorrect order by looking back at the kitchen but really didn't do much to fix the order. I didn't make a fuss about the curry, after all the only thing missing were the canned pineapples. I paid the order and left. The last straw that prompted this review was the amount of chicken they gave. They put so little chicken it made me wonder why they didn't just put all eggplant. The eggplant to chicken ratio was absurd. The curry didn't have much taste either. It was definitely a container of disappointment. Needless to say, I will not be back here ever again. I gave them their 2nd chance and they couldn't redeem themselves.

Good price and convienent location. Only $10 for Pad Thai chicken. Parking lot gets crowded at night if traveling by car.

Been a regular of the Pearl Kai Champa Thai since working near there, even though this is my first review of them. Solid Thai food and a relaxed atmosphere. I like getting their Panang Curry w/fried chicken and the Stuffed Chicken Wings. And I'm pretty sure they don't use MSG either, always a plus. Sometimes the preparation is a little hit-or-miss, but usually pretty good... fried chicken pieces have looked like the small discarded portions at times. The Stuffed Chicken Wings are a reasonable serving size (4 wings), and are very plump, compared to other Thai places I've tried. I like their other curry selections as well, but Panang is always my go-to. Sorry to see the Waialae location shut down, but glad that I can still get my Champa fix at Pearl Kai.

Food was ok. Service is poor. Restaurant was slow (3 couples to be exact). We were seated around the corner next to a filthy wall. I lost my appetite somewhat. The curry was too watery for my taste. I recommend going to the one in kunia. Even though they can't bus tables, service was great and flavors were spot on

First off, the server/ host was rude and really weird. He raised his voice and had a hard time taking orders. When the food came, he placed the plates in the middle and motioned us to use our mini plates like family style. However, we just wanted to eat our own dish and felt it was rude on his part to show us how to eat. When I got my Pad Thai, I also found a black hair in it. It was disgusting. Why can't the cooks wear hair nets?

Champa Thai is on my short list of Thai restaurants because it fulfills a specific niche of serving bittermelon curry. I love bittermelon. My take out experience with Champa Thai's Pearl Kai location was positive for several years. I always ordered the same bittermelon curry with fish, spicy and it was made consistently to order. I'm sorry to say that dining in was a completely different experience. Service was slow and unprofessional. Upon arriving, the hostess / server was texting on her phone and seemed irritated to have to set up a table for 5. She said it would take 10 minutes to set the table (it didn't have to be cleared, just set with utensils and napkins). After the wait for the table, it was another 15 before our order was taken. The food did not arrive at once, so my family was not able to eat together 'family style.' The food itself was not hot when served, and the bittermelon curry was definitely undercooked. It did not taste anything like the bittermelon curry I've enjoyed for take out for a number of years. I'll stick to the Waialae Ave location when I'm craving bittermelon curry. If I end up craving Thai food while on the West Side, I'll have to weigh my options before returning to Champa Thai ... perhaps unless for take out.

I ordered drunken noodles. The meal was about 10 bucks. My problem with many cheep Thai restaurants is that the mild spiciness is too bland, but medium spiciness is way too hot. Champa Thai is no different, where my perfectly good "medium" noodles were ruined by way too much pepper. The spice overpowered all of the other flavors; my meal was not enjoyable. The service was mediocre at best. Save your time and money, go to the sushi restaurant two doors to the right.

Let start off by saying, if you recommendations for what to eat, you must try the following: -stuff chicken -summer rolls There are many things on the menu that are tasty and delicious, but honestly my favorite things to eat are the two dishes above! Stuff chicken thighs- is literally stuffed with noodles and vegetables, then deep fried to perfection. When you bite into the chicken it's so flavorful from all the veggies and the chicken itself! It's so good that you'll be wanting more after one bite. The dish comes in 4 pieces with a sauce on the side. Summer rolls- noodles, shrimp, and mint wrapped in rice paper. Comes with peanut sauce on the side. I know everyone knows what summer rolls are, but seriously the summer rolls here are my favorite!! I don't order summer rolls from anywhere else because no one can make it like they do! So if you're in the mood for Thai food, this is the place to check out. I have tried the Thai curries but I heard its delicious and my friend absolutely loves the cellophane noodles-spicy! She orders that ALL the time, it's her all time favorite!

Used to be a regular here until the last 2 times when I ordered Tom Kha they brought me Tom Yum. The first time I thought it was an honest mistake so i didn't say anything. The 2nd time when I brought it up they added a little coconut milk and brought it back. Definitely was not what I asked for. You lost a loyal customer just to save on some coconut milk.

This is my go to place when it comes to eating great Thai food. Champa Thai offers many traditional Thai dishes, that taste great and are reasonably priced. Thanks Bey & Joy for making me feel at home. I'll see you soon...

Great food! Great prices with a warm atmosphere and slightly upscale with linnen table cloths. It's a BYOB establishment though so pack your wine or beer. Curry is amazing! Thai noodle dishes to die for. Authentic and really friendly staff and management. Def worth a visit and if you are like us - go once a week for a treat! DELICIOUS

Not my favorite Thai place but ok for a neighborhood place. Standard menu. Place is cute enough. I would make the trek to Siam Garden Cafe for a better experience and tastier food.

Champa Thai is AMAZING! I eat here regularly and they are at some local farmers markets. They never fail to amaze me. Must try the following: Red curry Shrimp summer rolls

It was my first time trying this place the other night. My boyfriend actually took me here for am impromptu Valentines dinner..which was nice. Its located in Pearl Kai shopping center. I enjoyed the ambiance of this place. It was nice and spacious with dim lighting. Perfect for a date. The food was good overall. I'm a big fan of Thai. My favorite in the assortment we ordered was the tom kha soup. I've had it other Thai places on Oahu...so far this was the best. Service was also on par. My water was constantly filled, which I always appreciate. And the waitress boxed up all of our leftovers for us separately.

  • Lulu C.

Positive: Waitresses were friendly and our food was served fairly quickly right after we ordered. Negative: 1) Human hair in my veggie spring roll (need I say more, gross)! 2) Instead of tofu summer rolls, we were served shrimp summer rolls. 3) Instead of the chili vinaigrette sauce, we were served the peanut sauce. Overall: Although we didn't wait long for our food to be served, accuracy trumps speed. Was able to overlook these mistakes due to the service and decent taste.

Champa Thai is a cozy little Thai restaurant located in the middle of Pearl Kai Shopping Center. The restaurant is nicely decorated with Thai art that brings back memories of my stay in Thailand. They have eleven appetizers to choose from like chicken/beef sateh sticks, Mee Krob and fried calamari. I especially liked the Mee Krob, crispy noodles with a drizzle of sweet sauce. If you can't decide what to order, they also have a combination appetizer platter that includes a little of everything. Champa Thai has your standard curry and Pad Thai entrees where you can choose your spice level from mild to hot. My favorite dishes include the Panang with chicken and the Pad Thai noodles. You can really taste the coconut milk in the Panang and the noodles are seasoned just right, not too sweet with your choice of beef, chicken or shrimp. I also enjoy their Thai ice coffee with every meal. The parking at Pearl Kai Shopping Center can be kind of difficult at times, but you can normally find a space if you circle the lot a few times.

I must say despite some of the reviews I read this place was good. I enjoyed my pad thai and the curry my cousin had ordered. I can't recall the exact title of it but its number 29 and it has eggplant and bamboo shoots in it. She got it really spicy and it was really spicy but it was a good spicy. I quite enjoyed it. I even added on top of some of my pad thai. There was nothing wrong with the taste of my pad thai but it added that extra flavor of curry that I love. The place itself looked nice. It small but so are many of the restaurants I go to in Hawaii. I definitely liked the overall feel of the place and will be back when I'm in the mood for Thai food and in the area.

  • Nadia K.

This is our go to place for Thai food in the Pearlridge area. They let us order the food ahead of time so it's served within minutes of us being seated. Time is money people! We made the mistake of ordering hot once, and I think they enjoyed showing us just what is considered hot! We've learned our lesson and humbly request medium every time. Affordable and a great place for lunch! Speaking of thai food, Siam Garden Café on Nimitz is the best!

Had Valentine's Day Special Pumpkin Curry. Tasted like standard thai curry, with pumpkin inside. Yummy, but expected pumpkin to be more incorporated into the curry. Nice ambience, but took a little long to get food.

My wife and I come here once every couple weeks, and have done so for well over a year. We've eaten many of their dishes ranging from all curries, noodle dishes, salads and appetizers. Two of the waitresses have gotten to know our favorite dishes and even where we like to sit. Thus I would consider us regulars here. I usually don't review places I eat at regularly but I think this place deserves it. I'll cut to the chase, the curries are good but on the small size (at least by my standards). I would like them to have more vegetables (bamboo shoots, eggplant, potato, etc. depending on the type). The tofu summer rolls are quite good and stuffed with lots of healthy veggies. I've seen the waitress hand rolling all of the spring rolls many times. I have experienced two of the same things as the Yelp review from Lulu C. They have occasionally gotten the order wrong, and I have gotten one really long hair in my summer rolls before. When I brought up the hair, they gave us a new batch which was nice. Neither of these were going to stop us from eating here though. I'm not very picky with Thai food so I'm not an expert in what is authentic or not. But I can tell you that the service is great, the prices are reasonable for Hawaii, and it tastes good to me. I will continue to be a regular here for many years to come.

BLAH Flavors were bland and service was definitely lacking. I've had much better on the island and I won't be returning. Siam Garden Cafe has my loyalty forevermore.

  • Holly B.

We enjoyed lunch here today and the food is still fresh, flavorful, and delicious! It's consistently good and the waitstaff is friendly and helpful. Our family favorites are the long rice salad (chicken) and panang curry with green beans (chicken), along with Thai sticky rice. Mwah! ONO!

    (5)
  • Greg A.

My Thoughts: Food is real authentic and good here. The pad thai with beef tastes better than the chicken pad thai (I don't know why) BYOB, offers wine glasses and the cork to open! Great selection of appetizers (try the calamari and stuffed chicken) Panang curry is bomb. Green curry was alright, I suggest if you order it, ask for no bamboo shoots. The texture holds back on the curry's taste. The waitress was sweet and personable.

    (5)
  • Anthony R.

Service and food was decent. Thai iced tea would have to be the favorite from here. Better for take-out instead of a dine-in experience.

me and my girlfriend love this place very good food, nice atmosphere, clean, and quite. I love my yellow curry ; ) yummy

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Still Yummy! The restaurant is BYOB now so remember to bring your beverage of choice!

We ended up here quite on accident. I had suggested driving over to the Pearl Kai shopping center because I was craving the fries from Off the Wall, but when my husband was asking me what else was in the shopping center and I said "oh you know a cupcake shop, Vietnamese, Thai..." as soon as I said "Thai" he responded with "Thai? Thai would be awesome for dinner tonight." and I realized the fries from Off The Wall were not in my future that night. We walked into Champa Thai around 7:00 on a Saturday and I have to be honest I was a bit concerned that there were only two other parties dining there. We were promptly seated and given water and offered additional beverage choices. After looking over the menus we decided to share the Summer Rolls and my husband oddly ordered the chicken fried rice (something he never does), and I ordered the pad siew (spelled that wrong I know). The Summer Rolls were good but the dipping sauce was a little bland and lacking flavor. My husband really liked his fried rice and said it was nicely flavored. The pad siew was okay but a bit too sweet for me.

  • Judith L.

What has happened to Champa Thai. None of the old staff are there and the food was pretty awful. I ordered take out and the egg rolls were almost burnt. We tasted the soup and then threw it out. I used to love the food but no more!

    (1)
  • Jordan S.

Service was good but the food was...meh. I am a BIG Thai curry fan, so I was excited to come here for lunch with a co-worker one day. I had the thai hot pineapple curry with sticky rice. The curry wasn't bad, it was just forgettable and wasn't nearly hot enough or flavorful enough. The chicken satae was much better than the curry. So if you just want some thai food and are near by, stop in, but "lets go get some Champa Thai" probably isn't something I'll say.

  • Tze M.

When I want Thai food, I usually like to stop in here for some good Thai food. There's always the tried and true I like to get; spring rolls, mee krob, pad thai, and yellow curry. The times I've gone to pick up dinner or had dined there, business has been slow. There is always a table and service is good. I would hate to see this place close. The prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly. Service is good. Food is good. I like this place.

    (4)
  • Bianca F.

The food here is pretty tasty and reasonable price, the service felt like being served by someone who prides in their food. One dish was over powered with ginger that's why I did a 4 star. Definitely will be eating there again!

  • Rissa K.

Not bad....had the Chicken Panang curry and for appetizers we had the Spring rolls. Good service and lots of parking in the Pearl Kai shopping center.

i had their house salad and it was REALLY good. consisted of a whole buncha different meats, cant remember everything but at the least there was pork, shrimp, squid, maybe chicken? really good though. and the 'dressing' is really good too. its the typical, thai style (lemon juice, pepper flakes, sugar, perhaps fish sauce) but it was light and not too overbearing in any of its different flavor spectrums (salty, sweety, spicy) id definitely come back just for that salad. and perhaps many other things

My family (sans brother) stopped by here to have lunch between visiting the Arizona and the Missouri. According to LocalEats, this was the best Thai in the area. The restaurant is hidden in a shopping complex and small. Service was good. Tom Yum - Sour (in a good way) lemongrass soup with shrimp and squid. Green Scallop Curry - Scallops were soft and chewy. Since my parents didn't like their green curry to be too spicy, I had to use the chili sauce to add a spicy kick. Not too rich, right amount of scallops and vegetables. Crispy Champa Thai Chicken - Easily the best dish of the four, and some of the best fried chicken I've had. The chicken was obviously fried but was not greasy at all. Had the right amount of crunch and chicken and was the correct portion to eat. Since each person was allowed one chicken piece, we had to order seconds of this. Thai Chili Fried Rice - Stir fried rice with chicken and fresh zucchini. Also was fried and not too greasy. Spicy yet flavorful enough to enjoy with the chicken and the curry. This was one of the best Thai restaurants I've eaten and I would recommend going out of the way to nearby Aiea to eat here if anyone is visiting Aiea or the nearby Pearl Harbor historical sites.

Let me be frank...I don't go to Champa Thai because I have a choice. I come because my ffil has a no MSG policy which knocks out many of the places on our small island :x Somehow, Champa Thai is the only place which he will agree to dine out at. I'm not sure if all the food comes without MSG-just be sure to remind them you don't want any. Although the food here isn't terrible-I must say that it quite popular in the neighborhood. Having gone there yesterday, I was surprised at how busy they were for a Sunday night. My first experience with Champa Thai was over a year ago and I cannot say that the food was memorable. They did run out of the flounder though, so don't have your hopes high for that-there are times when they run out. Okay, as for yesterday's meal-there were four of us eating and we ordered quite a bit of food. The bf wasn't feeling so hot he got the chicken long rice soup. Then we ordered fish cakes, beef & broccoli, lemongrass chicken, chicken pad thai, shrimp fried rice, and a beef salad. The chicken long rice soup was okay, but rather bland. The fish cakes were probably the best dish of the night. I never got to the beef and broccoli. The lemongrass chicken was greasy and I didn't like how they cut up the chicken into such skinny strips. The chicken pad thai was lacking in flavor, chicken, and proper condiments. The shrimp fried rice actually had a good amount of shrimp, but the rice tasted bland. Oh, and that beef salad? It left a strong shrimp taste in my mouth afterwards. My bf mentioned that it was probably the fish sauce...which could be, but then why did it taste like shrimp to me? PASS. If you find yourself with the freedom of choice, please use it wisely. The one redeeming thing about Champa Thai is that they do make it a point to refill your water often.

Love this place. I have been to a lot of Thai places across the country (not in Thailand:) Every time I am back in Honolulu I make it an absolute point to get back here. The place is clean and the staff are friendly. The food is just superb. Love it. I would recommend the spring rolls as and app. The Drunken noodles are great. Hell, what am I saying, it's all great. Just go, you won't regret it.

Small, clean thai restaurant tucked away in Pearl Kai shopping center. Good food, great service!! I always start with a chicken satay. Its good sized portion. The chicken is chicken, but their peanut sauce really makes the dish!! Then I go for the panang chicken with a side of brown rice for my entree. Its so so good. The curry is so tasty it makes you want to cry!! Their occasionally i'll get a thai iced tea. Its good. Nothing special from any other one i had. But good. Service is very friendly, and they've even remembered my usual :)

So my boss and I were running an errand and decide to go to Tadashi, but apparently it is closed on Tuesdays. So we went to Champa Thai instead. We ordered three dishes, the Tum Yum soup, the appetizer sampler, and the calamari salad. I am not a big fan of Tum Yum soup, but my boss said it was ok, not sour enough and Mekong does it better. I actually liked it cause it wasn't too sour nor hot. The calamari salad was pretty decent with a lot of calamari and a little spice (even though we ordered mild). The Mee Krob was amazing with the fried noodles with bean sprouts drizzled with sauce. I thought the chicken satay was also very good. The summer rolls were decent, though I wouldn't order it again and the fourth appetizer was alright. Service-4 stars Food-3 stars Ambience-3 stars

Alright, I ate here a few years ago and thought "Not really great Thai food." Tonight I decided to try it again. I was wrong. It's horrible Thai food. Let me put it to you this way: If you're a tourist who visits Thailand, and you eat only at the high priced hotels, and if you love that, then this will be your place. It's hotel food -- boring and bland. However, if you are adventurous and travel from north to south and east to west, eating at wherever places you happen to be that's NOT a hotel or resort for tourists, then I recommend you go elsewhere to get your fix. You'll be disappointed here. But, on the bright side, there's not often a wait to get seated... and the service isn't half-bad. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I expect better from the hotels in Thailand. This place is closer!

i was very unhappy with my lunch :{ Wednesday, November 7th, 2011 i had the beef & broccoli & i ordered rice on the side. when i put in my order i asked them to over cook the broccoli cause i like it really soft & mooshy. when it came out still hard, even to stab it with a fork. so hubby asked them to redo it for me. again it was tooo hard as if it was cooked for 2-3 minutes just to warm it :{. so of course i didnt eat the broccoli :{{{ . i poured the brown water & few thin pieces of shaved beef on my rice & shlurped it up with a spoon. hubby had a yellow chicken curry thing & ordered it hot. he doesnt like things that make him sweat but he does like some heat so figured he would see what their hot was like .lol. & he said it was not warm or even on a mild heat. after seeing how crappy my was not how i ordered it (even twice) he figured it was not worth saying anything. he said the flavor was not bad but not warn & no "heat". so when we went to pay i asked the fella if there was some kind of discount that i should get since my food was NOT how i ordered it & he :/ swipes the card & says no, sorry. i was very very annoyed. the only reason they even got one star cause it wasnt as dirty as most of the dinky restaurants we've been in .

Had to sample the Calamari, Pad Thai, Scallop Panang Curry and the Champa Thai House Salad. All just "A-OK." I think I just went on an off day. I'm willing to try it out again.

Well well well.. its a Thai place in the Leeward side on the Island of Oahu... The Thai food here is not that spectacular.. now i know there are 2 other Champa Thai Restaurant's on the Island.. and this was is really mediocre.. The Curry seemed over cook.. there was no consistency.. some parts where gravy some where broken down white curd flakes.. The Thai Ice tea is filled with 76% ice. It was an overall bleah.. Unfortunately... this is the only Thai place in Aiea.. and so people are FORCED to come here .. its a real unfortunate circumstance.. so if you must go.. but really there are a hundred better Thai places out there .. believe me!

I completely agree with Dean P's review. The service there is horrible. I went 3 times for the 3 strike rule and every time the service was slow and the attitude of the owner and waitresses were terrible. I asked for fish sauce and they looked at me like I had three head and that I had inconvenienced them. Souvaly is 10 times better and just up the road.

Today was my first (and last) visit to Champa Thai. I had the Panang Curry with chicken, which is kind of my Thai food litmus test. Champa's version of Panang Curry with chicken was far below average. The curry sauce itself wasn't bad - just average. A little too greasy and it tasted...old, like it might have been sitting around for a while. But the flavor was basically right. The chicken was the main problem I had with my meal. It tasted undercooked and the nasty icky stuff that I thought you are supposed to cut off and throw away was left on it. Yeah, there were globules of chicken fat and grissley stuff attached to the chicken. After a few bites and literally almost gagging, I avoided the chicken and just eat the sauce and white rice, which was fresh, hot and well prepared. At least they got that right! Service was fairly brisk. Almost needless to say, I won't be going back. Problem is: I love Thai food and haven't found any that's really outstanding on Oahu. Help!

Good News/ Bad News...The good news is that my family and I love the food here. We love the Nom Sod (ginger w/pork)! The calamari Ong Choi was delicious, Pineapple fried rice is excellent, and my son loves the sticky rice. For the Bad News, we have been overcharged here...not once, but twice. We were told by one person that they rung us up with the wrong bill. A worker mentioned that they automaticaly added a tip (no where on the bill indicates this and they fail to mention it to you...so they'll get double-tipped!) On top of the tip, there were other errors and "add-ons." I do love the food here, but please be aware of your bill. We were overcharged by $12.00 the last time, and recently by $16.00 (we thought the dessert was probably pricey since we didn't look at the menu for it and just ordered - found out they were only $1.95/ea.) but I asked to look at the bill again and found the discrepancies. Again, good food; fishy accounting! Bring your calculator if you eat here!

Champa Thai is possibly my favorite Thai restaurant of all time, and it's ashamed I don't live in Hawai'i anymore. My favorite dishes are: - Mee Krob - Panang curry with beef (Anything with coconut milk is good in my book.) - Sticky rice I don't ever recall getting anything else from this place--I'm a creature of habit, what can you say? If I like something, I'll most likely stick to it. I do have no doubt the other foods are just as satisfying and delicious. The location is conveniently located in Aiea, right across the street from Pearl Ridge. Parking can be horrendous since it's a shopping complex with many other popular restaurants. If anything, you can always park at Pearl Ridge and cross the street. The restaurant is always clean, quiet, and has low lighting to "set the mood". I've never had a problem with the wait service, they always seemed very prompt and attentive.

Since the hubby wasn't feeling good the other night, we decided to order some take out for dinner. We searched and this is the closest Thai food to our house. I got the Pad Kee Mao. I liked the variety of veggies in it: baby corn, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, bell peppers. I got mine medium and it had some good spice. Exactly what I think medium heat should be. It didn't have as much liquid in it as I would of liked, but it was still good over some of their brown rice. Hubby got the Yellow curry. It had good flavor and heat as well. It just seemed to have more potato in it than anything else. He also got the Spring Rolls. They were 6 small rolls with lettuce leafs to wrap them in. The dipping sauce was really fishy. Way too much fish sauce for my taste. Downsides: smaller portion sizes than other Thai places and no Drunken Noodles! Person who took the order on the phone was kinda rude as well.

I have a peanut allergy. An allergy that has been severe enough to send me to the hospital, although that was one hell of a weekend. I realize I am taking my life in my hands when I eat Thai, but every so often I get the urge to do something dangerous. I just ask that there are no peanuts in my meal. It would be safe to say that I was less than pleased to find peanuts. The curry was okay, but once I found the peanuts, I really had no choice but to give the lowest rating possible. If you don't have a peanut allergy, and you have a Thai food craving, AND you live west of town, give it a shot. But if you're like me, don't take your chances.

Aww I'm quite disheartened to see such low reviews for Champa Thai in Aiea :( Souvaly is probably the best Thai restaurant I've been to, but Champa Thai has pretty good pad thai and green curry. Ok....so maybe this review is a little location-biased. Haha.

We ate here for dinner last night and ordered the chicken Penang curry, chicken fried rice and a string bean with ginger dish. The food was very tasteless, and had no flavor whatsoever. Worst Thai food I have ever had, don't eat here!!! I recommend Phuket Thai in Mililani. Do not waste your money here!!

Bottom line: sub standard Thai - there are so many other great choices for thai food, its hard to see me coming back unless this was an isolated bad experience The service here was a little slow. When they finally got around to taking our order, the waitress tried to remember it. She had to ask what we ordered several times. Even then she came back and asked again. If you're going to remember my order, do it in one or two tries - not four or five. Otherwise, write it down. We even ordered singha. She asked what kind. There was only one kind in the menu... On to the food. The summer rolls had old and sour tasting tofu in it. Yuck. The sauce was also unappetizing and couldn't be used to hide the sour tofu. The pad Thai was ok but very salty. To their credit it wasn't greasy Their green curry was the worst I've ad in terms of flavor. It had lots of chicken eggplant bamboo etc, but it didn't have any spice in it. It actually tasted like chicken broth with coconut milk. Maybe good, but not curry I've had decent food here before, so maybe it was an off night for them. I might try them again, but not very soon

Dearest Future Husband, Wanna go out to dinner tonight? I know some place chill, mellow, and relatively quite. The food is yummy too... I've been craving the Gaen Keow Wan (Green Curry) all day. Last time I got the beef and it was really chewy, so I'd probably get the pork this time. And we have to have a Thai Iced Tea! I'm not one who cares for iced tea, but I always have to get one when I eat thai food. && would you like to split the Summer Rolls with me please? It comes cut into 4 pieces with a really tasty peanut sauce. It's a really light and fresh appetizer. I'd also recommend the Thai Toast too. But I'd say it's best if we shared everything and ordered family style since everything is pretty much a la carte. I had the Thai Chicken Salad last time, which was ok, but only cause I really liked the dressing. I've also tried the Pad Kee Mao which was slightly disappointing, only because I'm used to the mainland version of the dish. But Pad Thai is usually the crowd favorite, with a decent sized proportion to be shared with 3-4 people, so will definitely be good for just the two of us. If you're not in the mood to go out, we can just order to pick up. But you might have to bring cash because the last time I went they had trouble with their credit-card machine. Forever & Always, kaibemi buks P.S. Don't forget to order Sticky Rice :9

Wanted to go to Kuru-Kuru, but the line was about 20 deep last night. We drove through the parking lot, and saw this place. We (my wife and I) both love Thai (nothing beats Opals) so we thought we would stop in. We ordered the Thai Chili Fried Rice (beef), Pad Thai (Chicken) and Fried Chicken Panang Curry. All medium to hot spice. The food came out fairly quickly. It looked as though the rest of the restaurant had their food already, so that was a plus. The prices was fair from $8.95 and up. Overall we were satisfied with our meal, and the servers never let my water cup go dry. Thai Food: 1. Opals 2. Champa Thai 3. Souvaly 4. Phuket Thai-Mililani

WARNING: Be sure to check your bill with the menu before they overcharge and embarrass you. Champa Thai is very consistent. They have good food and overcharge their customers. Yes they overcharge you and have the audacity to blame you when you show them the proof. I showed them the calculator tape that had the wrong prices from their printed menu. I was charged about a dollar something over for almost every item. The last time I went there they did the same. I brought it to their attention and they fixed it and apologized so I thought it was a simple mistake. But the saying goes "Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me." I wasn't going to be fooled another time. They said it was my fault that we ordered too much and we didn't have money to pay for it. I would never go anywhere without being prepared to pay for something and leave tip if service is decent. It offended me when they told me I had no money. I even told them it wasn't the first time it happened but they still insisted it was my fault. I have never been so upset with service from anywhere I have ever been to. So my final words would be if you like to be charged extra and be told you don't have enough money to pay for anything go to Champa Thai.

Champa Thai is a good, reliable, local place. I like that it is near my house and consistent in what it serves. It never blows me away, but it always serves me good food that I like and does it with a smile. The service is very good actually, and recommendations are always spot on. Try Panang Curry. Also has lots of vegetarian options.

I had a blast when I came here the last time. I came here with my Cambodian friends, sister, husband and Indian friend. I never heard of this place before, but my friend knew of it so we decided to stop by. I found out it was BEST OF THE BEST Thai food in Hawaii. So I really wanted to try. We ordered a variety of appetizers and food here. We ordered spring rolls, Combination Appetizer which had Spring Rolls, four Thai Toasts, two beef Sateh, and Mee Krob noodle, Thai Toast, calamari, yellow curry, pad siew, and something else... I dont remember the name, I just remember is being all good. The service was ok. They did mixed up my husband drink, but its ok. I will definitely come here again..

For the longest time, I had no clue there was a huge shopping center behind what you see on the main front on Kam Hwy. Heard about it and our search began. Neat little placed tucked between shops that look like they had their day and are hanging on to the memory of their glory days. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. Staff was nice, but not friendly. Portions are huge. I got the lemongrass chicken and the tom kha soup, planning to take some home. The chicken was ok, nothing special, but the soup was amazing. I love Thai soups I think more than the dishes, and this one did not disappoint. i would go back just for the soup and plan on it!

Been here few times now and I've enjoyed it both times. Only problem is that it is inside the Pearl Kai Shopping Center which can be a pain in the Okole to find parking at times. They have some nice decorations inside and gives you that intimate vibe with the big fake tree in the middle of the dining area. I really felt like I step through a portal and was suddenly in Thailand. No, just kidding. It was nothing like that, but a nice restaurant nonetheless. Service is pretty good and the food is decent as far as Thai food goes. I had the Masaman Curry and Garlic Bok Choi. Both were pretty delicious. I've had the Pad Thai here once before and remember it being pretty good. Overall, pretty good restaurant with friendly service especially being in Pearl City side. Not the best Thai, but like my rating says - I'm a fan!

We blindly stumbled in here and we were happy with this discovery. The restaurant was very clean and the service was good. We had the Fried Chicken Panang Curry and the Beef Pad Siew (stirred fried funn with black bean sauce), sticky rice and Thai milk tea. We like all the food, the portions were a bit small, they were generous on the meats, but the starch portions were tiny. I just wish they gave us more sticky rice and noodles. Most of the dishes run between $9 - $12, so very decent. The back of the room will allow you to host a group of 12 to 15 people, so I would definitely consider it for our next group dinner.

Ok flavor with small portions = lame. If you're going to have OK flavor, have large portions, a la bangkok chef. If you're going to have small portions have big flavor, a la Phuket Thai (who actually doesnt have small portions, but higher prices to match). This restaurant is wiggity wiggity wack.

A cozy and pretty Thai place located at the Pearl Kai Shopping Center. Was there a couple months back with a friend and we tried 3 dishes ~ Pad Thai (Thai noodles pan seared in the famous Pad Thai sauce with chicken, eggs, bean sprouts and peanuts), Pineapple Curry (red curry paste with coconut milk, pork and pineapples) and finally a plate of Mixed Vegetables sauteed in their special sweet and sour sauce. Most of their dishes can be made with either Beef, Chicken, or Pork. Reasonable prices and good service.

Today was my first time at Champa Thai. We went around 5:30 and it was pretty empty so we were seated right away. The restaurant was pretty nice and clean in appearance, which is a definitely plus b/c I'm a germaphobe. We ordered the tom yum soup with tofu, chicken pad thai, garlic eggplant, and yellow curry. The food came out surprisingly fast, which made me happy because I was starving. The tom yum soup was delicious! The portion size was pretty generous, you could probably get more than 8 bowlfuls out of it. The chicken pad thai was my favorite dish, very flavorful. The yellow curry was nothing special, but it was still good, I have no complaints. I didn't care for the garlic eggplant at all. I couldn't taste the garlic because it was overpowered by the coconut milk sauce. The price of each dish was about $8.95 (give or take a few bucks), which I think is pretty reasonable. All in all, I'd def go back there again.

Must I really give this place a star? My first and last experience at this place was unforgettable. First, we had a long wait to be seated despite it being 8PM and not busy at all. Then we were seated at a table next to a wall under a dusty and leaking air conditioner. After being asked to be re-seated, we were sat at a table with a centerpiece that had Combat roach poison in it. I'm not sure how we were able to eat after that, but the food wasn't memorable. I think I'll just stick to Souvaly further up the road.

I always enjoy coming here. We always order the papaya salad, any of the curries, one other item and 2 orders of sticky rice. You can order just about every item at either mild, medium or hot. Once I ordered the papaya salad medium but it was really spicy. This time I decided to stick with mild. The other item we ordered was the ginger pork (you can get chicken or beef as well). It was really good! At first I thought they gave us the wrong item because I was expecting the sauce to taste like ginger but instead the ginger flavor came from long thin strips of ginger cut up and mixed in with the green beans and meat. It was really good! As far as portions go, I did notice they were slightly smaller than I was expecting to get but either way it's not really anything to complain about. I think the food is deeeelicious and I leave full and happy. Even if I only had the papaya salad... I would be full eating that alone. I'd actually like to take off half a star because the service was a taaaad bit slow. However, it was slow because there was only the one guy doing EVERYTHING. Seating, service and refilling waters to all the tables. I admire him because he did everything with a smile and rushed to help everyone. I hate seeing slow lazy workers who obviously hate their jobs... and this guy was the opposite! I'll admit, I partially like coming here because it's refreshing to see someone who loves their job.

Good food, decent service, but terrible parking lot (potholes, busy, and tight stalls)! Pearl Kai Shopping center is always busy, especially with Powerhouse Gym there. That said, Thai cuisine is my favorite ethnic food. I keep going here, but mostly just to pick up orders and take it home.

Ambience: 3.5/5 We came there on a Friday night and there weren't too many people there for a Friday night, but it sure sounded like there was because of the weird angle of the ceiling. I'm sure they can't help the angle of the ceiling, but still, it is what it is. Also, I don't understand the big plant in the middle of the dining room. Maybe a jungle feel to the place? I don't know. All I know is that they try to make do with the space they have, and that's all you can really expect. Service: 5/5 All I want in service is food to come in a timely manner, have my water regularly filled, and the wait staff to be decently professional and polite. And that's what they gave, so hooray, good for them! All kidding aside, I really did like the service. We actually asked for their recommendation on a curry that wasn't panang. Our waitress suggested the pineapple curry, which we went along with. Food: 3.5/5 We ordered the Combination Appetizer ($12.50), which consisted of two spring rolls, four Thai toasts, two chicken sateh (beef is also an option), and Mee Krob. We also shared a pineapple curry (around $9-10), and ordered thai coffee with the condensed milk (around $3 each). Aside from the mee krob, which was very interesting in texture and in taste, the rest of the appetizer was fine--not bad, not distinctively good. The Thai toast (deep-fried finely minced shrimp with spices) could have used more spices; there wasn't much flavor to it. The chicken sateh was very peanut-ty, almost to a fault. The pineapple curry was nice, as pineapple and coconut have a natural affinity. We ordered it mild (the food comes in mild, medium, or hot; we didn't want to take our chances, so mild was very safe). In the future, however, I might want to try it medium. Overall, I did like the place just fine. It's hard to find good Thai places, especially ones that are not named Phuket Thai. I will definitely come back in the future.

Went here for dinner with friends to celebrate a birthday. First of all, its my first time so I checked out the reviews first. I saw the review about MSG, so I warned a few of my friends who are allegic. We ordered Panang Curry with chicken and Pad Thai with beef. My bf likes to order pad thai to eval a thai place... The food was good, and they didn't put any MSG for any of our table's food. Panang curry had a great spice to it. Pad Thai had great taste and texture. We enjoyed both with our sticky rice. I had the Thai iced tea with cream.... YUM!!! I will go as far as to compare it to the iced thai vanilla black tea I usually get at Starbucks. My friends had the combo appetizer, and I liked the Thai toast. The service was also good. It seemed like we got the owner. He was friendly, was helpful to our friends who aren't familiar with Thai food. Our waters were filled often too. They also split our checks, which is always nice when dining with a group. We would eat here again.

First time here and I believe it is my last too. The service was lacking from when we stepped into the place and that was not a good sign. Then when ordering, I asked for a suggestion with the beef/chicken/pork/shrimp choices - and got a shrugged shoulder and a body twist and told it is all good - depends what you like - oh well ........ as far as the food, I have had much better at other local Thai restaurants - we did not eat all that much and I did not even want to take any of it home - my friend said she would take it home for her grandchildren. Usually i would gladly take any leftover home but not this time. We were provided with containers to pack up all of the food we did not eat but we had to ask for a bag so we could put the containers in to carry it out. A lack of service from beginning to end. I must say the food came out very quickly and if anything, that is the one positive I will give them but everything else was lacking

Champa Thai was our "go-to" Thai restaurant for years before we discovered Siam Garden. We still go back from time to time for various reasons. These reasons include: consistently good food and service at a reasonable price, nostalgia, convenient location, and most of all... the absolute best Thai Beef Salad. I've tried Thai Beef Salad at many other Thai restaurants. Not one of them, including Siam Garden, comes even remotely close to the wonderful dish Champa Thai creates.

But nothing to do with the restaurant!

Let me start by saying that I only get one dish when I go Thai and that is Panang curry. It is an absolute favorite of mine. Unfortunately, this is not one of the better places to get it. The meat was dark and the sauce a little on the watery side but as for other dishes you will have to decide for yourself.

Champa Thai actually ended up catering an incredible farewell party for two of my co-workers. When I asked said co-workers what should be their final going-away feast, they both agreed that it had to be Choo Chee ONLY from Champa Thai. Word on the street is Choo Chee is a.k.a. the Naughty Princess of Souvaly's Thai and/or the Evil King Jungle....basically Chicken Curry on rice. Anyways, my order contained: Choo Chee, Beef Broccoli, Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, an obscene amount of rice, and Thai Tea. The party was for approximately thirty people. I called and spoke to Joy (hostess) and the owner several times to discuss the portion sizes and servings to make sure everyone in my party would have enough food at a reasonable price. On the day of the party, both the owner and Joy gave me so much extra that everyone was able to take at least one plate home!! It was awesome to work with the staff at Champa Thai to make this great farewell one my co-workers will never forget!! The staff - from owner to hostess and everyone in between, was incredibly helpful! Thank you, Champa Thai!

Champ Thai is one of my family's favorite restaurant. it is where we go for special occasions and to bring out of town guests. I have only been to the Pearl City and Wailae locations. Both are good - the parking at Pearl City is better. Our favorite things to order (please excuse my spelling): combo appetizer, pad thai noodles (must!), tom ka soup, pa nang curry, and the thai tea (fave!!). They offer the dishes in mild or spicy and also have a bunch of veggie options. The only warning is to double check your order if you are ordering take out. One time i ordered take out and when i opened the bags when i got home the order was completely wrong. i suggest you open your bags there to double check you order.

This was the first Thai restaurant that I went to that made me start liking Thai food. I ate at the restaurant. Service was good and I remember the food being real good. I've gone to other Thai restaurants and used Champa Thai as the benchmark. I went there recently for take out and the food just wasn't the same. The yellow curry was just like any other place but the pad thai disappointed me this time. It wasn't as tasty/sweet like before or even how other places make it. I'd rate this place as average for now.

My husband went with his work people to have lunch here and he wanted me to try it. We decided to go here last night since we were too lazy to drive in to town. Parking is always fun in Pearl Kai Shopping Center but luckily we happened to score one right in front of Curry House. Walked in and it reminded me of the decor in my parents house. Anyway, I order my usual. Green curry is what I usually order at every Thai place I go to plus a side of white rice. We also ordered the spring rolls and my husband ordered the Thai chili friend rice (which I forgot to take a picture of). Hmm... Tasted the green curry. It wasn't hot at all and I ordered the medium. I was a tad bit bummed but hungry. The curry had lots of eggplant and bamboo shoots. The chicken was a little bit scarce. The curry was a little too coconut milky and it was really light in color. It was good but I had better. My husband's fried rice with beef was actually pretty good. It wasn't hot at all either which was a little saddening. Maybe we should have ordered hot to make it more spicy. In my opinion, the portions were a little small for the price but it was actually perfect sized to make us full but not disgustingly full. When the server took our order he was fully focused on remembering it since he didn't write it down which almost seemed a little robotic. It is a nice restaurant and the service was decent but I am not sure I would be rushing back here for another hit of their not-so-hot green curry.

My wife and I have been frequenting this restaurant regularly for the past two months. The first go around we originally intended to have lunch at Kuru Kuru Sushi. Unfortunately by the time we got there it was crowded. So I suggest Tadashi as an alternative, as I've been there a few times with coworkers and it was a pretty good place. Wouldn't you know it, but they're closed! So we take a few steps down the walkway and end up in front of Champa Thai. The last time we had Thai food was in San Diego many moons ago so we figured we'd try it out. We had fried chicken panang (the crunchiness goes well with the soup) spring rolls (standard fare) and beef pad thai (sweet, so suggest eating it with regular jasmine rice as the sticky rice will make it overtly sweet) Everything was great, and the wait staff was helpful making suggestions. Since then it's become a weekly treat for us, and everything above is pretty much our standard order (so much so that the waiter refers to our order as the usual) We've also tried the shrimp prad prie and honey shrimp (wife loves them, I'm not fond of shrimp so I abstain from judgment) My kids love the fried chicken stuffed with rice noodles and the summer rolls, and we usually order those to go so the kiddies can chomp on champa after school. There are two reasons why I can't give this place 5 stars. First, being located in the Pearl Kai shopping center, it can be difficult to find parking during the lunch hour. When you have a slim window of time to work with, that does make it problematic. Secondly, there aren't enough tables in the restaurant though it's not for a lack of space. If they'd only remove the fake palm tree planted in the middle of the room, or perhaps move it into a corner, they'd have enough room to add a few more tables. They certainly need the space! We usually arrive a few minutes before they open so we don't hit the crowd but by the time we're done and heading out the door, the room is full and there's a gaggle of folks waiting for a table in front. All in all, it's a great thai restaurant, the best of the joints we've tried here on the west side and will probably remain a staple in our dining out list.

Really good food but awful service. I've been multiple times, always very poor, rude service. Do NOT take kids, they are not welcome.

Some of the worst Thai food I've ever had. I ordered two noodle dishes. The Pad Thai had no peanuts, no lime, and dried out, dark meat chicken. Almost inedible. The drunken noodles came with almost no noodles and the pork I had asked to leave out. Truly terrible food.

This is a great place to go for Thai food. Quality food, nice ambience, great service. Everything is good here. For appetizers I like the summer rolls and the fried calamari. I judge Thai restaurants on two of my favorite dishes, Beef Pad Thai and Chicken Panang. Both are excellent here. You can custom order the panang to suit your level of spiciness. If you like hot stuff tell them you want it really hot. It's really great when really hot. I also always order the Thai sticky rice. It comes in these cool little baskets. The panang sauce goes great over the rice.

We come to this restaurant a lot when we crave Thai food. Me and my friends always order the Tom Kha soup, pad thai, deep fried stuffed chicken, eggplant salad, and a curry dish. Their pad thai isn't that great, I've personally had better but it's not that bad. But I love love love their tom kha soup, I order that all the time even if it's hella hot outside to be eating soup. Ha. I like this place I just don't like when you have to search forever for parking since it's at Pearl Kai.

The food at this place is awesome! The male who works there (I believe there is only one) is extremely helpful - he will make recommendations if you're having trouble and want to try something new. The price is great, especially for Hawaii. The only downside would be they always seem to sit you right next to other costumers even if the place is almost empty. But that would not be enough to keep us from going back!

Been there a few times recently and the food and service is great! Love the Tom Kha fish soup. Nice atmosphere inside too.

Ive always passed by this place when I go to eat pho at the restaurant nearby. I finally got my chance when my friend wanted to go too. I arrived at 12 and the place wasnt filled at all and it was a holiday. The place is pretty small and I can imagine that it can get really loud when its crowded since the tables are so close to each other. There seemed to be only one waitress/hostess manning the front of the house. The menu seems really extensive and having a few more dishes that I havent seen at other thai places i've been too. We ordered the panang curry with tofu, rad nar (flat noodles with thai gravy, broccoli and beef, and a stir fried garlic eggplant with pork, all hot. My friend got sticky rice and we shared their thai iced coffee with milk. The food came out pretty fast so that was nice. First bite into the dishes, they werent hot at all and didnt even have a kick to it so I added the chili garlic sauce that they have on the table =). The curry was good but only came with long beans as the veg, it would have been better if there were more veggies, esp for the price, ~$9. The eggplant and noodles were also good and didnt have any distinctive flavor when mixed on the plate. However, when I did taste it separately, the noodles was sweeter and had an oyster sauce flavor while the eggplant had a more savory/salty flavor. The iced coffee was pretty good but more on the bitter side because they seem to use regular milk instead of the usual condensed milk. Waters werent filled all the time though, and since it comes in a small wine glass, I was getting thirsty. Overall the food was good and id probably come back to try more things.

Went back there again when it was a little busy last week. I had finished my Thai Beef Salad and my dining partner did not get his meal until after I finished. Not even a hint of an apology!! Unbelievable. Won't be going back. Crap Service.

When here with the family for the first time since I was in middle school. Man this place has lasted pretty long, but the food is still pretty good. In a shopping center that has had multiple facelifts and turnover, this place keeps going strong. The spring rolls I would give a 4, with the mint and cucumber rolled in lettuce n dipped into their great sauce. The pad thai was alright, prob shoulda ordered it a tad spicier but good! The green curry was also pretty great, again woulda liked it spicier but thats more on my family having a milder liking than the restaurant ... so no negs on their part. I had wished they had the singha beer in stock, but unfortunately they didn't so that actually made me kinda sad. But for a survivor of a restaurant, serving great thai staples, this place is definitely one to check out. No crazy thrills or off the beaten path stuff, but a place to get your thai fix every now and then.

Other than the fact that this is a very conveniently located little Thai restaurant, they offer a really good seafood fried rice that keeps me coming back here. I think they sprinkle powdered shrimp crack on it to make it so tasty. They probably put some on the spring rolls too, and in the accompanying fish sauce because that is also a very addicting dish. I like to keep the remaining fish sauce to add even more crack onto my crack fried rice. Now all this crack really fires up my sodium level, but what better way to quench my thirst than with a glass of Thai iced tea, which acts like the crack antidote, except it is addicting in itself, so I guess it's merely another form of the drug. When all's said and done, I usually walk away spending $50 on dinner for two, and for me that's on the pricey side for anything not involving a hunk of meat, but for some reason I don't mind indulging here every now and then. They got me.

I came here the other night and everything we ordered was delicious! We started off with the green papaya salad, then had the tom kah soup, and finally the pad thai with pork. I wish I had a bigger stomach, it was seriously hard to stop eating! I will definitely be coming back soon!

Excellent food, excellent service, reasonably priced. We normally enjoyed the Thai Toast, the Yellow Curry Chicken, and the Panang Curry Pork, along with Thai Iced Teas. Their Mesa Mun Chicken is some of the best I've had.

I first heard of this restaurant from my girlfriend. I enjoy Thai cuisine so it was a must to check this place out. I enjoyed to experience. The prices are very affordable and the food is delicious. I love their different curry dishes. Their portions can easily feed a couple. My girlfriend and I usually order a couple items and add some brown rice and have a feast. The staff there is very friendly and always checking to see if you need anything.

Just across the street of Pearl Ridge Mall, this place is a nice place for lunch or dinner. I like their soup, and pineapple friend rice. They are always on time bringing out the food, that is why its a great place for military folks for lunch. I just wish they put more veggies with their Panang

The deep fried stuffed chicken was a good appetizer to start off, the sauce is what set it off. We also had a chicken curry dish, chicken fried rice, beef salad, and another dish with coconut milk and chicken. This was my first time eating here and it will defenitely will not be my last!

I've been here once a few years ago with a friend. I've returned with another friend thats been getting into thai tastes. We ordered Thai iced coffee with milk as well as the appetizers sampler set, and panang curry, as well as crispy noodles with broccoli and chicken. The sampler set was really big, with four pieces of cripsy fish patties, two spring rolls, crispy noodles with fresh sprouts and some sort of sweet-tart fruit (plums maybe?), and some other veggies. The panang curry and broccoli and pork were pretty darn spicy~! I loved it. The iced coffee was just as I remembered it. Quite strong, and not too sweet. My friend liked it more than I did, but it wasn't bad at all, I was just used to a sweeter side. Our waters were constantly filled and we were tended to constantly. The crispy noodles in the broccoli stayed crisp for quite a while, which was good because it had plenty of sauce around it. I think the way it was stacked upon itself on the plate helped it stay crispy. This was a dinner experience compared to my lunch outing with my other friend back on a holiday.

I used to dine at Champa Thai a LOT when I had my own business. Since we operated on the Leeward side and many of our clients were in the Downtown vicinity, this location was fairly central for all of us to convene at. The dine-in experience was always wonderful as I would enhance my meal with a Thai iced coffee, yum! Yet, since closing operations, I haven't frequented this restaurant in over 5 years! Whoa! However, I was blessed to have my "wing-woman" fly in from Cali to participate in the Honolulu Marathon and our other "partner in crime" who lives here locally, picked her up and the two made the journey over to my hale on Friday evening. So the rug rats and I ordered Thai food from Champa Thai--veggie spring rolls, pad Thai with chicken, tofu panang and crispy honey shrimp. With two kids 5 and under in tow, an oversized handbag, rainy weather and 2 takeout bags, I was thinking, "how the heck am I going to carry all this and then some" to the car without something dropping all over the road. Yet, this REALLY awesome male waiter (I believe his name is Erik!) but I could be mistaken, came immediately to my rescue! He was gentle and nice to my children, offered immediately to carry my two take-out bags, placed them in a box so as not to spill along the ride, walked with me to my car, placed them in my car, thanked me and was off back to his job. NOW THAT is TRUE customer service--what a ROCK STAR! Kudos to him and the restaurant--I know he's been there for awhile and has always been awesome as a waiter internally but externally--da bestest! So the meal was wonderful--, the food was tasty, just spicy enough not to burn the palettes of the rug rats, and more than enough food for over 5 people. The old motley crew was back together and enjoyed our meal along with a few "newbies"--my hubby, 2 dogs, our 2 rug rats and my local friends baby daughter--how nice after over 10 years, to be able to revisit with old friends and hear all about the new experiences, memories and to meet the new family members who officially joined the crew! :)

Love this Thai restaurant! When I am lazy and don't want to cook I call for pick up! They normally have my food ready within 10 to 15 minutes! Some of my favorite items on the menu include: Spring Rolls: Ground pork, onion, carrot, mushroom, and long rice wrapped in rice paper and deep fried $6.75 Summer Rolls: Vegetables, somen noodles, chicken and shrimp wrapped in rice paper $6.75 Green Papaya salad; Shredded green papaya, tomatoes, and red chili peppers in a sauce $7.45 Panang Curry: chicken or beef cooked in curry and coconut milk $8.45 (shrimp is $9.95) Pad Thai: Sauteed rice noodles with chicken, beef or pork and fresh sprouts with peanuts $8.45 (Shrimp $9.95) Fried Rice: Shrimp $9.95 Sticky rice $1.95 I think their price is decent compared to other Thai restaurants I've been to.

Decent place for some Thai food on the Leeward side. Definitely try the Thai Toast which is basically chopped shrimp over toast. Sounds weird, but it's actually really good. Everything else is the normal Thai fare. But it's probably on the better end of the spectrum for Thai restaurants.

The OLD RELIABLE pad thai and tasty stuffed chicken wings. It's a bad thing having so many good food selections near where I live (that is until I move closer to town). Service was attentive, the food was good, and the restaurant was pleasant to be in. I will definitely come back for more.

After returning from a trip to Thailand about two weeks ago, I've been having some cravings for Thai food. My friend and I were just walking around the Pearl Kai shopping area and noticed this restaurant (we're new to the island) so we decided to give it a try. I feel as though people aren't giving this restaurant the credit it deserves, however my meal was only limited to three dishes really. What did we have? - Green Papaya Salad (4/5) - Pineapple Tom Yum with Tofu (5/5) - Pad Seiew with Shrimp (3.5/5) In general, the taste of the food here wasn't too far off from the food I actually had in Thailand granted it has to be Americanized to some extent. The Green Papaya Salad was really good, we had it with the sticky rice and requested that it be relatively spicy. To my surprise it was rather spicy, and knowing that it could be more spicy gives them bonus points in my book. Aside from that, it tasted great and it was fresh. The Tom Yum was fantastic, prior to returning to Hawaii I ordered the hottest Tom Yum offered at the hotel I was staying at and the taste of this one seems spot on. I didn't have any issues with this dish. They claimed the Pad Seiew was the best on the Island, and I took their word for it at first. It tasted really good, I like how they prepared it, and it smelled awesome. However, I don't know if it was just that night or if it's a regular thing, but mine was too salty. I was downing quite a bit of water while clearing that dish. Aside from that, I loved it. The service? We went maybe an hour and a half before closing so it was rather slow in there. They kept their eye on our table and took care of us as soon as we needed anything. They were also quite friendly to us, could be the fact that I apparently seem Thai. I would like to come during lunch time to see how this might be when it's busier, but for now they have five stars in my book. In conclusion, I feel as though. In conclusion, I liked the taste here, but what lost them a star was the fact that their size of the dishes should be slightly larger considering the price and my Pad Seiew was just too salty. Would I come back? Most likely, but I'd like to try all the other Thai restaurants before making that decision.

The food was alright here. I've had better honestly. The young waitress was very pleasant and sweet. The middle-aged male waiter, however, was creepy as hell. Guy wouldn't stop staring forreal. I know I'm not being paranoid because you can ask the people who were with me. He was staring so hard and for so long that I almost felt violated LOL. This might be why I didn't enjoy the food as much, but either way, I'm not returning. Sorry!

Food was okay I guess, portions were small for the price---would not go back. I hate to be tough on this small restaurant, but I just couldn't find anything that I enjoyed (except for the sticky rice). They were a little pushy when asking for orders-(came back a few minutes after handing out menus), and remarkably ALL of our food was made and served to us just minutes after ordering. Amazing right?!?! ...NOT! Please take the time to prepare the food fresh when ordered and please give the customers what they pay for! Serving all the dishes on basically a salad plate is not work $15 an entree. Note: Future customers, be aware if you order the Thai fried chicken make sure you're getting chicken. The size of the chicken that we ordered DID NOT look like that size of a normal chicken. I swear my mom and I thought we were eating quail or something. It just didn't seem right :(

Champa Thai Aiea was simply ok. The atmosphere was exactly as expected. It was small, simple and clean. There wasn't much to the decor. The waitresses traditional Thai skirts were beautiful however paired with a sequined aeropostale t-shirt it just didn't work. I am certainly no Vera Wang but it was just weird. The other girl had a beaded American Eagle tee with her skirt. I guess that is the thang. Service was mediocre. We ordered 3 sides of sticky rice and we were served 1. When we asked for the other 2 orders we got 1 more. You see where this is going. Prices were high for the portion size. Although the curry is priced at like $8.95 there is no rice with it so the price is actually closer to $12 for a meal. Anyway onto the important part... The Food...It was ok. Portions were very very small. I had the yellow curry which was tasty and the medium was perfect. No too hot yet not too mild. Perfect! I was disappointed that there were two slices of carrot in one quarter of a potato in the entire bowl. It was almost like curry soup. The bowl was mostly gravy. The pad Thai was good. Half of the plate was bean sprouts. Again...the portion was very small. Sticky rice was barely warm which meant it was extra sticky. All in all the food was ok. I would not rush back there for the food but I would return if I was in the area and had a hankering for Thai.

BF and I had Panang Curry, Pad Thai, and Ong Choy with Tofu. The curry had a good flavor, but it wasn't as smooth and well blended as other curries I've had - the spicy orange oil was kind of separating from the coconut milk and it didn't look that appetizing. It came with chicken, which was nice and tender (and cut up into bite-size pieces, which I like so much more than huge chunks), and fresh green string beans. The Pad Thai was not the best and was a little too sweet for me. The Ong Choy was the star of the show, with deep fried tofu and sauteed in this delicious gravy sauce. If you don't know what Ong Choy is, it's also known as Morning Glory and is kind of a crunchy dark green leafy veggie used in Asian cooking. Very tasty and having greens balanced out the rest of the meal. Service was ok, and the ambiance was fine, except that its an echo-y room so it got really loud when a family came in with a screaming kid. Our meal came out to $32 before tip and we had a small box of leftovers.
