This place is in a space in a grocery store strip mall. The people are nice and the service is good. I have had several items from here and to me the place is authentic. The comments that its not authentic Thai food are, imo, absurd. The people who own and cook here are from Thailand and from what I have tasted of Thailand, the food closely matches what you will find there, giving variations to the region you are at in Thailand. All in all this place is well worth the visit

I went to this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the spring rolls and the sauce that it was served with was delicious. I ordered pad kra prow and asked for it to be pretty spicy and it was! It had really good flavor and was filling. Lunch prices are very reasonable and staff was very friendly and attentive. I would come back to try other things on their menu. Went back again a few weeks later and ordered the Tom Kha Kai soup. While the flavor was delicious, it was lacking a little in ingredients. There were only a few mushrooms and a few pieces of chicken. I would stick with the entrees, if this is any indication of what their soups are like.

The thai tea/coffee is amazing. The curry is on point. Already been twice within a week.

my wife and i come at least once a week for dinner. she always gets the drunken noodles and i usually get the g4 (chicken, rice, brown sauce and jalapenos) service is always on point and we have never had a bad meal. their coconut soup is excellent and prices are not bad either. their spring rolls are cheap for 2 of them and delicious. joe (i think) is our favorite waiter, younger, tall guy that is always attentive, nice and all around a good guy to talk with. his service qualities are what you expect and want when dining out. he always remembers what we drink/eat but asks to make sure we're not trying something different! damn good server. food is great, staff is great prices are great, did i mention the food is great?!?!

I come here when I'm desperate for Thai food and can't do the hour long drive to get decent Thai food elsewhere. It's definitely somewhere between a 2-3 star rated place but the service is always on par with a 5 star restaurant so I can't complain there. I try hard to stick with dishes that can't be messed up but how do you make pad thai so bland?! Looking at my noodles, I could tell some herbs were missing and it definitely was nowhere as spicy as I would have liked it, but with some added help from their spice caddy, it brought it up to par. I'm used to Thai good having a lovely lingering fragrance from lemongrass and basil but all I got from my soup and noodles was gosh sauce. Copious amounts of fish sauce. I've heard nothing but good things about this place but the few times I've been in, I was definitely disappointed. I'll keep trying though 'cause the servers are so sweet and I'm curious as to what the hype is about.

I love thai food! This place offers a varied sort. I always get take out. The food is simply amazing. If you are shopping in the area stop in.

I loved the Sticky Rice and Mango dessert. I got the Kao Pad Gai, which is just veggies with chicken and white rice. It was really good. I typically go for Pad Thai when dining at a Thai Restaurant. I also got the Thai Iced Tea, which was delicious! They have really good lunch specials, which is what I ordered. I walked in to order take out, it only took about 15 minutes for it to be ready. Will definitely have it again!

I've only been here twice, and over a number of years, but both times it was delicious. This most recent time we were there a little bit late in dinner service, almost 8pm. We came here desperate for Asian food after another local restaurant let us down immensely. Mai Thai was close by and we remembered liking it before, so we hopped in. Since the dining room was empty because of the time, we were immediately seated and waited on by a VERY polite and efficient waiter, who was super attentive (unlike sometimes when a restaurant is empty and the staff disappears) to us. We quickly ordered and were left to enjoy the warm comfort of the yellow walls with large, interesting art work and a cozy atmosphere like someone's overlarge dining room at home. Our food came quickly, we ordered coconut chicken soup and two noodle dishes. I think they were Pad See-ew and Pad Neau Sub (I should not have waited so long to review or should have written them down) and we were very satisfied. The soup was hot and flavorful with large chunks of chicken and mushrooms. I could have let it be a little more spicy for my taste, but it was delicious as is. We both remarked that the noodle dishes were exactly like something we would want made for us if we said we wanted "Thai Comfort Food." They were extremely generous portions as well, we both ended up taking over half home with us. Overall I wish I could remember to come here more often in my quest for really good Asian food, Thai or otherwise as this is a spot that Augusta needs to keep.

Drove 20 miles for Thai food and it was worth it. Strip mall place with nice staff and good food. Fresh tasting and not too dumb-downed for western palates.

I have yet to find a really good Thai restaurant in Augusta. I base my rating on the Thai restaurants in the area. and Mai Thai along with another in Evans are the best you'll find. The Gai Pad Prik King is good and the home made coconut cake is amazing.

I took my son for lunch there. We went on a Wednesday at noon. It wasn't full and the environment was nice. The place is small but cozy and clean. Customer service was ok. The waiter was nice but I was not impressed with the whole experience. I think that having a toddler with me turns off a lot of waiters, and this is a no-go to me. After all, these businesses should understand the potential permanent customer on stay at home moms. We ordered fried dumplings as an appetizer and they were delicious, seriously delicious. My son loved them too! We also order Pad Thai, and that is when my disappointment started. It did not taste like Pad Thai at all. It was just too simple. I don't recommend this dish if you go there. Additionally, I ordered a Thai Tea to go and was really surprised when I saw how the waiter prepared it. He put tea -from the same jar he was serving others- and added coffee-mate creamer! I could have done the same at home, don't you think? Thai tea is prepared with condense milk, orange blossom, star anise, crushed tamarin seed, and other ingredients that make this drink so delicious! What a deception! I was going to give them one start but because the dumplings were really good, I decided to give them two instead. I am not planning on going back to Mai Thai again.

Super cute restaurant, with a bit of an intimate feel (for Augusta). The food was tasty and fresh. Service was good.

the food was okay. not spectacular...However, when I asked for Thai Hot....they totally meant it. 5 stars on that!!

I love this place for the freshness of its food. The spice quotient is awesome especially given that I am from India! Their curries taste like they made the base right that minute, very fresh and their pad thai is fabulous! The soups are a great add on. I wasnt much into the satay or other appetizers. The decor of this place is surprisingly tasteful given that its in a strip mall. We come here every 2nd week almost! Lastly I like the Asian waiter, smart and effecient and when u tell him u want 4 plus spice, he knows what u mean!!

Meh. Been looking for some Thai food that will stand up to the phenomenal Thai food available in Portland and this just doesn't. I mean, don't get me wrong - the food is good, lots of options and decent prices.. For Augusta, it's probably 4 stars - just not quite as good as what I've had in other places. Pretty large servings, quick service. Not a bad option by any means - just not quite what we were hoping for.

Gosh I feel like such a negative nancy when I am reviewing the Asian restaurants in Augusta. I mean, I am so into the IDEA of good Thai, Chinese and Japanese food in the area, I just haven't had the actual pleasure of HAVING good Thai, Chinese, or Japanese food in the area. The decor is nice, the guy who took my order for pickup over the phone was friendly. It seemed like a nice place to sit and eat, and the inside makes you completely forget it's in a strip mall. They were very quick to have my order ready. And, for a small appetizer and a noodle dish I paid $20, seems a bit steep, I feel like I would get the same thing for about $15 in the NYC area, but I am not going to let $5 color my opinion. What's really coloring my opinion is, well, the food was, just plain bland. Thai food is supposed to be chock full of flavor, not just spice. This seemed like they started with all the correct ingredients for my Pad Kee Mao, but they just decided not to put in more than 1/10 of the various flavorings and sauces. The noodles were properly cooked, good variety of vegetables, but too oily and not enough flavor. I mean, it is ok if you are really jonesing for some Thai food and you have no plans to leave Augusta in the near future, but it's definitely not what I would call "good" Thai. I am sure I will go back in the next few months, because it kinda gives the overall appearance of Thai food and maybe that will calm down my cravings, but it's not anything to write home about.

Ordered red curry for take out. No utensils for it. Taste was alright but curry was watery and vegetables were half cooked and some had discoloration. I will keep it short. Won't be going back again.....

I was honestly surprised by this place. My expectations were low it being a strip mall joint, but I now see that was no need. Friendly and attentive service even though there was only one server and five or six tables along with togo orders. The food was very good and had an authentic taste. Try the Thai iced coffee or tea, both are amazing. I well be back and will recommend it to my friends and family.

In the mood for Thai on my visit to Augusta. Relied on Yelp to lead me to Mai Thai. The Tom Kha Gai soup hit the spot. The entree (I forget the name) was very good, too. And don't forget the Thai Iced tea! Wow! Clean environment and very friendly service. I'll go back on my next visit to town.

Below average Thai food with good customer service. I rated them 1 star for customer service since the food was below average.

This was a good meal. We enjoyed everything and it was nice having something other than the basic chinese or japanese we are so used to here in Augusta.

Nice little family owned restaurant that offers authentic Thai food. Excellent coconut chicken soup, satay, pad thai, spring rolls, rice pudding, Thai iced tea, and the list goes on...

  • Nicole D.

Pad Thai was overpriced based on the taste, size was perfect. Spring Rolls were way overpriced & sauce resembled BBQ flavoring, needed more peanut/soy flavoring. We will continue our search for a great take-out Thai food restaurant.

We went here after our first stop of the night did not quite pan out. The service was good, our waiter was very polite, and he seated us right away. The food was great though it did take a bit to get to us since they actually cook it instead of having everything from the freezer or microwave. We got the dumplings to start and they were very tasty. Then we ordered the Seafood Satay (very spicy and good) and the (7 Thai-worded) chicken & cashew dish, also very good. Our only suggestion is to be careful of the spice factor if you are not used to thai food or other spicy foods. For all of you non-Thai food eaters out there three chili peppers on the menu means it is spicy-hot. For dessert we had the fried cheesecake with cherries & blueberries. Again very good, it reminded us of a creamy funnel cake. For us the selection was perfect and we will be going back!

The service really varies depending on which server you get (try your hardest for the guy with the anarchy tattoo- otherwise, I hope you aren't hungry, thirsty, or in a hurry), but the food is always fantastic. They have tons of vegetarian options and recently they made a dish that wasn't on the menu for one of my friends. I don't know if it's authentic, and I don't care. It is delicious.

There are two types of Thai places, ones with authentic Thai food and ones that serve Thai-like food with options to have lots of spice which somehow makes it more authentic. Unfortunately, Mai Thai falls under the latter. My wife and I went here and ordered a simple Pad Thai with chicken and some soup. The pad Thai came out with a pink, cooked shrimp, hue. My wide likes to add the spicy seasoning herself so that the true pad Thai flavor doesn't get drowned out. Well there was no flavor except the spicy flavor she added. The noodles were mushy as well. Not a great selection for Thai in my opinion.

The red curry tofu is delicious and spicy. I wish they'd add more vegetarian selections, but I'd be more than happy to order the same dish over and over.

This was a terrific find in an area you wouldn't think of as a bastion of Thai cuisine. An oasis, if you will. The service was friendly, the atmosphere cozy, and the food was great - on par with big-city restaurants. Absolutely order the Naam Sod as an appetizer - it's ground pork and has the perfect blend of spiciness and flavor. Seems like a good taste of a non-Americanized Thai dish. Dave B.'s review is spot on the money! If you're in the area and craving Thai, make sure to check this place out.

Meal was good. However, there was only one person waiting the tables on a Saturday night, but he was a good waiter...fast, friendly and efficient. I think the appetizers were too expensive for the small portions you get. Satay was very small. Good...but small. Overall, I say it is a nice thai restaurant.

Just left there at 830 on a wednesday because they don't seat people at this time only take out orders!? They don't close till 930!! EDIT: actually went to eat here and it was good. Food wise I'd reccommend especially the vegetarian options. I still don't get the no seating thing after 830.

So good! The staff are super nice and know a lot about the menu. I go there once a week now for lunch. If you want to negotiate the spice level they will take the heat off for you! Always delicious, and courteous staff keep me coming back!

I have to disagree whole heartedly with Sue from Baltimore. I am very picky about my Thai food, and have spent considerable time training myself how to prepare authentic Thai food at home. This restaurant hits the mark more often than not. For me, the gold-standard dish is Tom Kha Gai, and Mai Thai's has all the delicate flavors you would expect from Galanga, Kaffir Lime leaves and Lemon Grass. It is all in there, even though they take it out so you don't have to deal with all the in-edibles. The next dish I use to judge authenticity is the Thai Beef Salad (Yam Neua). One of the basic ingredients in this traditional dish, but often left out, is ground toasted rice powder. Usually mixed into the spicy lime dressing, this powder gives a crunchy texture and a nutty flavor that I miss at most restaurants. Kudos to Mai Thai for not leaving it out. I for one do not eat Pad Thai, as this to me is entry level. So I can't speak to Sue's criticism. . .

Allow me to start off by saying this is the only decent Thai place I have found thus far in Augusta. I very much enjoyed it and will return soon, however, in the grand scheme of things, it is very middle of the road when it comes to Thai food. The Tom Ka was delicious and easily my favorite part of the meal. Also the beer, singha or something like that, was one of the best Asian beers I have had, very very tasty! Though I was not too bothered by it, there was only one server taking care of the entire restaurant which included a large party next time me and another 5 or 6 tables full as well. As such, he was completely swamped and took him a while to devote his full attention to us. Once we put in our orders though, everything came very fast. Just took a while to get to that point. The soup out shined the curry, as one was delicious and the other was just good (but not great) Still With so few options here in Augusta, I will take an average Thai place over a generic chain restaurant any day of the week! If you have not had the pleasure of experiencing one of the world's best cuisines, please do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Fabulous food as always. Must say though the waitress they had there today was not great. She took for ages to get to my table. Took my order and then had to come back to take it again !!

My husband and I love Thai food and experienced some delicious dishes when we were living in Hawaii. I would say we are seasoned to authentic vs not and we were not really impressed with this particular restaurant. The restaurant was clean and had a warm/cozy ambiance and the service was good. We def prefer the Thai Kitchen tho, which is in this same area. Their food has a more authentic flavor.

This is my second time and my drunken noodle was excellent and tasty. Needless to say it was hot, but excellent flavor. It was so good the I will order the same plate the next time I've go. On the other side , my wife plate was a bit cold, and only had a few shrimps and scallops, don't remember the name, but it was on the fish side of the menu. Waitress was very attentive and was always very kind and attentive. I will definitive visit this place again.

Great joint with "authentically good" Thai food! I take-out ordered the Pad Kee Mao Noodles with Egg instead of other meat choices (call me weird but that's just how I like my drunky noodles) and also a cup of the Tom Yum Gai, both at the 'Thai Hot' spiciness level. Both dishes were packaged with care and they dole out large portions, the takeout container for the noodles was massive and filled to the brim. This makes me feel better about their higher-than-average prices. The Tom Yum Gai was pleasant, although not the best I've ever had. Lacked a certain sweet vs. sour complexity that I usually love about the soup. But, still was a nice soup. The noodles, on the other hand, were near perfect. They weren't gummy nor dry, the seasoning was perfect and garlicky, and the spicy fairy came and conquered. I love this dish here and will be sure to come back just for these noodles. Also, the service was outstanding and friendly. Even though I had just dropped in to order and pick up, they left a good impression and were very welcoming and warm.

Pretty decent Thai food. Try their Tom Yum Gai for some great soup. Pros *Food *Singha Thai Beer *Always somewhere to sit *10% Military Discount Cons *Wait can be a bit long (call at least 20 minutes prior for carry out) *A little pricey considering the standard quality of food *The fish (especially the flounder) can get a bit stinky *No fish or shrimp balls?!

I have the pad see eew every time and I cannot get enough of it. They also have amazing thai iced teas and I thought the service was good every time. The portions are quite large so it feels like a good value. This is my favorite restaurant in Augusta.
