I'm not from NYC or Chicago or Detroit so perhaps I'm not as knowledgable as some of the other reviewers about how bagels are supposed to taste, but to me these are yummy. The staff is friendly each time I visit and the only time I've been disappointed is when my husband got my order wrong. I especially enjoy the garlic bagel...so deliciously smelly!

Expensive, not great bagels. If you are from the NJ/NY area I don't think you would like these bagels at all. They are more like bread then bagels. Bought some muffins too. They were a bit dry and I thought they were day old. Will not be going back. Staff was pleasant but again, I don't think it's good. Maybe if your aren't used to NY bagels, you would like it. But to each his own.

I'm not a local, and think this place has changed hands a few times, but I've been coming for 15 years. It's nothing fancy, but it's a solid bagel place. I especially love their egg bagel sandwiches!

The bagels were ok. Maybe because I'm from New York and I have high expectations when it comes to bagels. These looked like the bagels I'm used to, but they weren't the best. I really loved the strawberry cream cheese though.

Hands down this is the BEST place in Venice to get your breakfast! A nice assortment of bagels, multiple cream cheese flavors to choose from, and amazing breakfast sandwiches. Their Bacon, Egg, & Cheese on an Everything Bagel is to die for! Forget McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, Burger King, OR any other chain restaurant for that matter. Eat Local. Eat Here!

Not even as good as grocery store bagels. Bread shaped bagels with no chew. Very disappointed but at least I had a coupon. Grocery store bagels better. Bagels in Chicago and Detroit way better. Previous reviewers either unfamiliar with good bagels (friends, relatives, employees of the owners. Counter girl very sullen.

Cafe Bagel put out a good product. Their spreads are delicious and they make excellent large bagels. I love a good bagel with lox and cream cheese and this place does it as good as any. The problem is it is not the cleanest place in SWFL and the workers do not follow good sanitary procedures. I've seen them wipe their brow with their gloved hand, handle money with their gloved hand and then go right back to handling food. And it's every time I go into the place that I see these things. On the rare occasion that I do go anymore, I just go straight to a booth after ordering and don't watch. Another thing is the lack of humor on the part of the people (mostly kids) working there. They don't seem happy about being there which is often a sign of poor management and poor pay.

Was visiting in town for the Fox Lea horse show. Stopped in at 06:30am on a Sunday morning and picked up bagels with veggie cream cheese and a slice of tomato on each. Tasted great back at the hotel room.

Best bagels in Venice, if not all of Sarasota! The steak, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich is delicio. 5 out of 5 stars!

Very good bagels I will be back for sure!! I just moved here a month ago from N.J. And am very happy to have found Cafe Bagel. I thought I left the pork roll egg and cheese bagel behind but am happy to find a place here in Venice that dose have it!!

Not bad for a West coast Florida bagel I have especially enjoyed their breakfast bagels. They have good variety and fresh bagels from what I can see are not available anywhere else. So you are stuck but it is not a bad place to be stuck if you know what I mean. They are the best bagels in town... take that from a Bronx boy.
