Our new place for pizza.... We have ordered from NY Pizza about 5 times and each time has never been anything but great. The calzones are delicious, with a crispy outside and filled center. The garlic knots are amazing, order a side of Alfredo for something extra good. The pizza is true NY style pizza. It doesnt get any better than this. The only downfall is they are always busy. It speaks volumes about their food, but it tends to make the service not so good. We have had an order not be correct because they are so busy. Delivery is definatley long. Its usually quicker to pick it up yourself. Aside from that, we still order from them. Great Food!!

Best Italian outside of my Mom's kitchen! My husband and I make a 45 minute trek down to Sanford just for the food here and adamantly refuse to order pizza anywhere else. Many of the people working here are from Italy so they know what they're doing. Service is fast and friendly. Food is fantastic! I personally recommend the plain cheese pizza which is a thin, crispy crust topped with a thin layer of flavorful sauce, and the perfect amount of mozzarella cheese. The garlic knots are an absolute must with any meal. Large puffs of bread perfection slathered in oil and chopped garlic unlike other places that cover their knots in garlic powder and call it a day...oh no, not at Caffe Positano! If you're in the mood for authentic Italian Positano will hit the spot. Be sure to end your meal with a cannoli, they're absolutely delicious!

Ordered my pizza at 9:39pm, told it would be ready in 15min. Arrived at the restaurant at 10:05 and they're closed. Now the website says they close at 10:30, but I guess they just close whenever they want customers or not.

Popped in for a quick dinner. Pizza and salads. Both salads (house and Ceasar) were crisp and flavorful and the pizza was actually VERY good. We asked for it a little well-done and they did what is typically not possible in FL..made the bottom crispy and 'dry' without being thick..made the pizza foldable as it should be..not limp and bready. The crust was a little crispy as ell and the toppings were pretty good too! Service was friendly and we were in and out for a fair price. We'll be back and enjoyed ourselves a lot!

Let me start off by saying I am a huge pizza junkie being from LA where I can get good pizza everywhere & after reading multiple reviews I decided to give this place a shot.....so here it goes: I ordered my food at 8pm which was a pepperoni & sausage pizza pie, fried calamari, cheese ravioli. My food was delivered at 8:30 exact. I have ordered pizza many times & never has it made it before 30 minutes especially for a Saturday night. Opened my food & the food was cold looked old my ravioli looked like a two year old made it & it tasted so bland. The pizza was old so hard to eat because it tasted like the food was sitting out the whole time. The fried calamari was so chewy & the texture was just off & made me sick. When I called them about my concerns asking to speak to a manager... The manager comes on the phone & says "well it takes only ten minutes to make a pizza" & was being very rude & which to my concern didn't care. I told him I didn't want my money back but you should care more about your food. He didn't care and just hung up on me. Obviously he has poor customer service skills & didn't care about his food. Don't order from here save yourself!! Try Pacino's Pizzeria or Riverwalk Pizzeria. Much better selection and their food is always fresh & yummy! Don't waste your money here!

I guess I'm amazed that I've never been here before, aside from the location not being convenient to where I usually go out to. I had a friend bring me here for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food, and the value for the price. I ordered a lunch special they have, where you get two slices of pizza and a house salad for about $6.00. The pizza was good, nice and crispy, as you would expect from a place that touts New York style pizza. The salad is where it truly shined. They have an Italian house dressing there that has almost a gelatinous consistency, but it was quite good. It was interesting trying to spread it over your salad, and yet really just had a unique flavor you don't get it regular Italian dressing. It also served great purpose for dipping your crust of your pizza into. The garlic knots here were also top notch. Now I'll just have to come back and try other things I hear are great.

My guilty pleasure as far as food goes is most definitely pizza. I am not a fan of the chain pizza places, like Papa Johns, Hungry Howie's or Pizza Hut. Instead, I choose to spend my calories and my money eating at pizza joints that are not global giants. From all the I have tried, Café Positano is most definitely my favorite. It is real New York Style Pizza made with the freshest of ingredients. I am a creature of habit and always order the pepperoni and extra cheese and have never been disappointed. They do deliver to my house which is always convenient with my busy schedule. I typically find myself ordering on Mondays when I have the kids so that I can spend time catching up with them instead of cooking dinner. The delivery is typically fast although recently I did have to wait a little longer than quoted on the phone. I have never dined in, although they do have a small comfortable seating area and a full Italian menu. The prices aren't as competitive as the larger pizza chains as a large pizza with one topping delivered runs around $20, but the quality of the food certainly makes up for that. I would definitely recommend Café Positano.

Very good pizza I think would be even better if consumed on their premises we ordered it for delivery. We had a random but great encounter with another branch at edgewater drive in orlando and that was a 5 star pizza consumed on premises. So we had to try the local branch. Will give them a home visit sometime soon and update. One thing to note was that the margarita pizza ordered at edgewater was constructed of different crust and round cheese balls melted into it. This one was a bit different. Nonetheless an excellent pizza. The cheese pizza we ordered was not so good because it was too salty and hence the 4 stars.

When your in the mood for real NY Style Pizza this place is hands down the best. Service is great. Pizza is like it should be and made just right.

This place is the real deal for NY style pizza. Best pizza in Seminole County. Service has always been good. Other Italian dishes are good, but not great.

Being from New York city, I am very spoiled when it comes to my pizza and Italian food. So let me just say how happy I am to have found Cafe Positano!! They are located in a small strip mall in front of Target and they deliver!!! I have ordered from them numerous times and each time the food is outstanding!! The pizza is thin crust, crispy with delicious sauce and fresh and yummy toppings. We usually get it with fresh garlic and eggplant and its to die for!! I would highly recommend Cafe Positano for dine in or delivery!!!

Their spaghetti...still amazing! The service and accuracy is not good. This once favorite place is leaving lots of room for improvement with their order fulfillment. Once in a while I dine in, but usually I order take out here. The last three take out orders have been incorrect even when I arrive and confirm the order with the cashier. This time I called in my order about 20 minutes before coming into the restaurant. When I arrived at the restaurant the cashier confirmed my order (again) and instead of them having my order ready it looks like they just put it in when I arrived. Weird. I had to wait for a while to get my order and even though I confirmed it with the cashier as soon as I left I checked my food. Again it was the wrong order. Because I had just stepped outside the door to check my order I came back in and explained that it wasn't what I had ordered. The person behind the counter told me "I don't know I just make pizza". I don't know what's going on. I do love their food but do not want to come back if the service is going to be this inconsistent. Please start listening to customers when they order or confirm orders, it would cut down on mistakes. Disappointed.

Ever had one of those nights where you work late and you're starving, yet have no desire to cook anything? And even heating up leftovers seems like too much work? Yeah, so that happened to Hubby and I the other night. It was chilly out too, so we were really craving something warm and comforting. When searching for something nearby, Caffe Positano came up on our radar. We had been meaning to try it for awhile, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Caffe Positano is located in one of the small strip plazas in front of the Super Target. It's quaint and cozy on the inside. After we were seated, I overheard the cook and one of the servers speaking Italian...this made my stomach excited! There's nothing better than eating Italian food cooked by a real Italian, am I right?! Hubby and I decided to split a house salad, half order of garlic knots and cheese ravioli with meat sauce. The salad was nice and crisp, topped with tomato, carrot, red cabbage and black olives. The garlic knots were yummy - slathered in butter and ton of garlic (vampires beware!). And for the ravioli, well let's just say the plate was pretty much licked clean! The meat sauce was especially delish. While we were eating, I could tell a lot of regulars were coming through. The gentleman, whom I presume was the owner, knew their names and warmly greeted them. And when we were on our way out, he even made a point to ask us how everything was. I have a feeling we'll be back real soon to sample some of the other pasta dishes. Oh and they have pizza too!

Located on WP Ball Rd in Sanford, just in front of the plaza with the World Market, Ulta, Sports Authority, Super Target, Etc. My office ordered from here and we enjoyed a tasty white pizza, staff was very nice and the pizza was delicious. A large is a great sized 18" pizza. Wonderful crust. Garlic rolls are delicious. Recently ordered a large take home pie and (1/2 & 1/2) I enjoyed the fresh mushrooms, hubby really liked the pepperoni and the lack of greasiness that you can get with other pizzas. Nice toppings ratio, good prices. Will order from here very soon!

Food was amazing! Service was amazing! Its so fresh and delish. Seriously the best pizza ive ever had!!! Garlic knots with the best marinara south of NY. And everyone is polite and clean lol. I am still amazed

Greatest pizza I've ever had so far in life. Cant even describe how much I will miss this place when I go back to Texas. It is just not the same as normal pizza's, yet this is exactly how it's meant to be made. Calzone, no way to describe it, savor the moment of that first bite. I bow at the feet of the Italians. The atmosphere is just as good if not better than the amazing foods. Amazing!!!

Not a bad place. Good pizza, but nothing to write home about. Staff was friendly the few times I've eaten there.

Worst philly cheesesteak I ever had. It had absolutely no flavor, even a ton of salt didn't help. The bread however was good. I didn't eat the pizza but my family seemed to enjoy it. My husband said it was pretty good. Service was good, waitress was friendly.

Been here twice, thoroughly enjoyed Cafe Positano both times. Funny, as I was walking in on my most recent visit--I held the door open for a mother and son leaving at the same time. Mom whispers to me in passing, "horrible service." I turned and said, "really?" She nods and replies, "The food was great, that's about it." So we walk in and I'm thinking awesome, we must have the JV serving squad in house today...gonna be a 3 hour lunch for 2. Sat down, looked at the menu and placed our order. A delightful waitress took care of us. She was on top of it. Brought out a salad and my side of meatballs in a timely fashion. Not long after my dank Sicilian slice and the wife's slice of white pizza came out piping hot. She apologized about the delay as they actually had to make a brand new Sicilian pie to accommodate my order. Think nothing of it, made to order Sicilian? What's to apologize for?!? Fork and knifed the slice, it was hot and the cheese was gooey. I employed the strategy of enjoying one of the two delicious meatballs whilst waiting for the entrees to come out. The other I sliced up and threw on top of my pizza as an extra topping. This all played out in my head as well as it did in real life. Was able to snag a bite of the wife's white pizza slice. Gangbusters. Our waitress checked on us periodically. The whole meal was relaxed but well paced. It is my conclusion that the mother and son must've either: A. Been a coupla dicks and deserved that slo-motion action or B. Ordered something crazy intense that took a while to prepare and they just were impatient. I don't know what else to say, Cafe Positano is batting 1.000 for me...the only knock I'd give this place is their whacked out coupon in my Entertainment Book. More often than not you find something like a BOGO deal or a certain percentage off the total bill in there. Cafe P's? Buy 3 meals get one free. I guess I'll just hafta order 2 meals for myself the next time I go! Well played Cafe Positano...well played.

Three months as a Sanford resident and this place is still duking it out with Papa Joe's on Best Pizza in Town. Decent prices, awesome pizza (so far I can only vouch for the cheese slices, but isn't that the most important way to rate a pizza joint in the first place?). The place itself is small and I haven't actually had a non To-Go meal so I can't say much else for the ambiance. But if you need a decent slice, I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Love it here. YOu can sit outside or inside. I was just here one time but really loved it. I got a glass of red wine and got wings. I asked if they could mix the garlic and hotsauce and they did and it was SOOOO YUMMY, I'd like to go again soon.

The best pizza in the area. Don't expect it to compete with New York's best, but it's pretty darn close. Always friendly service to go with the excellent pasta and pizza.

Def not a five star. I'm serious guys. WTF? Why do you review these places like they're so awesome. Anyway it's ok. The service was good the prices are as well. I got the prociutto and mozzerella sub. Amy got the ziti and Andy got eggplant. It was good but nothing absolutly nothing compared to Angelina's in deland. Come on people go there and then re-evaluate your decision to give this 3 star pizzaria a five star. Thankyou for your co-operation

Positano's is a narrow eatery that has a full Italian menu plus pizza, calzones and the like. My pasta dish was really tasty, I wish I could remember what it was called! It had linguine with lots of veggies and I added chicken for $2.50. There was so much I had to take some home! It came with hot, pillowy bread which I watched them cook as I waited. My toddler had a slice of reheated cheese pizza which he devoured and then asked for more. Service was excellent, but then I was about the only one dining in. The only other guy was solo and at one point burped so loud I think he surprised himself! Yuck! My server was attentive without hovering. He even cut my kid's slice without being asked. I also noted that they had various pastas and sauces for sale. One thing that would have classed up the experience would have been fresh Parmesan instead of a glass container sitting on the table. Cafe Positano NY Pizza is in the strip center in front of a bigger strip center that houses Target and Sports Authority, among others. They were taking lots of phone orders so I'm sure they offer take out, not sure about delivery.

Huge calzone packed with meat, cheese and flavor. Shouldn't have finished it all, but I did. Garlic knots were addictive!

  • Kristina C.

This place is TERRIFIC! The food is absolutely superb; my calzone was perfectly cooked with a delicious blend of cheeses, and my friend's meatball sub was unbelievable! The meatballs were melt-in-your-mouth good. A casual atmosphere with the staff speaking Italian in the background made for a fun experience. To top it all off, we found out they deliver to our place! Caffe Positano will definitely be getting a lot more of our business in the future.

The service and the amount of food: five stars. The tomato soup and complimentary bread: four stars. The meatball sub and Italian sub: two stars The atmosphere is not like that of the Positano in Apopka. This Positano is like a pizza shop with a casual, friendly, and neighborly atmosphere.

This is probably the closest I've tasted to NY pizza. Excellent! It's a small place but I've never had an issue with getting a table and the price is right. Be prepared for a little Italian spoken there - very cool.

Great subs. Everything is deliciously fresh from the bread to the salads to the entrees to the dessert. Hard to find a place in lake Mary/ Sanford area that makes so much from scratch. Can't wait to come back and try the gnocchi!

Pretty good greasy New York style pizza. A little bit pricy but it reheats very well the following day. I will definatly try this again. It may be getting an extra star just for being the first pizza I tried after moving from Illinois to Florida and it being moving day pizza :)

I only had a few minutes to grab lunch today, and while I was on the prowl for Mexican, I got distracted from my journey and ended up at Cafe Positano. I'm glad I found this place! While having a very intense conversation with a friend of mine, the manager was too kind to wait while I ranted and raved about my day. He also managed to extract the words 'cheese' and 'bianca' from parts of that conversation, putting my food in the oven straight away even though I clearly was in another world entirely. After several indecisive moments between wrap it to go and put it on a plate I'm starving, the cashier brought me both a box and a plate- and grated cheese, bonus! I packed up my meal while still on the phone and started to walk out the door. Wait a second....I'm missing a very important part of this transaction... Embarrassingly enough, I was so into my conversation I completely forgot that food isn't free. I quickly turned around to explain myself and they were completely understand and very sweet about the whole situation. If I can manage to get past the embarrassment of my blonde moment (please don't take offense), I would definitely go back. The pizza was pretty good, and it looked like a nice place for a sit down lunch. Thanks to the staff for putting up with my loopy-ness.

  • Dave M.

I like this place for pizza, but it is hit or miss. When they get too busy the oven temp drops and the crust on the pizza does not come out right for a NY style pizza. On the other hand, I have had excellent pizzas here with the crust being crisp and flavorful. Can't give it four or five stars, but I do like it. Not a fan of dining in sometimes because they do get overloaded with the crowd at typical lunch and dinner times.

Good pizza. Real NY style - thin but not too thin, crispy light-and-airy crust, made-from-scratch sauce, fresh-tasting ingredients (pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms) that are too skimpy for my taste, and just enough mozzarella without being too goopy and overpowering. Friendly cooks wait on you if you pick it up, but if you eat-in a grouchy male server reminds one of the 'Soup Nazi' from an old Seinfeld episode. Ingredients are too skimpy - that's why it's hard to give a better star rating than A-OK. But overall, a good pizza place that reminds you of an authentic northeastern-United Satates Italian neighborhood restaurant, but instead it's sitting in a crummy shopping center near a mall in Sanford - I love this country!

  • Donna M.

This is my favorite Italian place. The pasta is authentic and good. The pizza never disappoints. But the most awesome thing at Cafe Positano is their incredible, delicious, best ever tomato soup. I know - tomato soup? But don't knock it until you've tried it. I've never tasted better. And then there are those awesome knot rolls that come with it - be sure to ask for extra of those!

There's something about the bread here that makes it stand out when compared to similar restaurants. Try the prosciutto/mozzarella sub or a traditional Italian entree. Enjoy.

Ate in once, which I would recommend. It was a little busy and full of crying babies - but I suppose that's typical for a Saturday night out at a family friendly restaurant. I don't eat a lot of this kind of food - so my husband orders take-out on occasion. The service is somewhat slow - but they're making it from scratch, so don't go here if you don't have a lot of time. One night, we ordered delivery. This was the biggest mistake we've made ordering food and I haven't been back to the restaurant since. After one hour of waiting - we called back to find out if there was a problem since we live within 5-10 minutes of the restaurant. We were told the guy was out on delivery. 45 minutes later, no food. My husband calls back again, after lots of explaining his order, we were given lots of excuses about how there were some problems in the kitchen and they had definitely just sent our order out this time. Fast forward 2.5 hours after we order - I call and explain the order and tell the guy I'm going to order something else, its a long time to wait for dinner. 15 minutes later somebody (who I'm guessing wasn't a regular delivery guy) delivers the food and refuses to take any money for the order. We tipped the guy most of what we would have paid - because he's still had to drive it out. Even though it was very nice of them to make up for the delivery issues - I haven't wanted to go back and I wouldn't order take-out again.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
