I would give a 4.5 star rating if I could, (-.5 for the scowly server) but I am rounding up because I really enjoyed my meal! We started with the Tuna Nachos, which were outstanding! Rather than standard tortilla chips, they use fresh fried flour tortilla chips - or wontons as they call them, then pile on seaweed salad, scallions & a very generous portion of fresh tuna & serve it with a delicious sweet/spicy sauce. Thankfully I was sharing an app & an entree with a friend, so half of those nachos were all mine!!! For our main course, we ordered a whole fried hogfish, which was served with a delicious thai chili sauce. The fish tasted so fresh and the sauce was really fantastic! We had a baked potato & coleslaw for our sides - the coleslaw was really tasty - there were chunks of fruit in it - really different and refreshing. Our waitress was really great - we were a party of 6, and she was friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is that the server literally threw our plates at us when serving with a scowl on his face. He must have been having a bad night?!?! I have read complaints about the $$ in other reviews. The hogfish was $30 or so, the same amount I paid for a whole fried snapper at Garcia's (on the Miami River) a few days earlier. When you go out for seafood, especially in a touristy area like Islamorada, you are going to pay top dollar. That being said, I am OK with paying top dollar for a meal I thoroughly enjoy... and I totally enjoyed the food here... so much so that I wish I was eating that same meal for dinner tonight!!!

Had a beer. Everyone's huge whole fried fish looked interesting. We were a little hungry but didn't partake in the food. Maybe next time? Not sure we will be back.

4 not 5 stars. The staff was AMAZING. We live a few hours away and were down for Labor Day weekend. With a 2 yr old. By the time we got here, someone was very hungry and tired, and we were exhausted from cleaning the car from a sick baby. Unfortunately, as can happen at an outdoor restaurant in FL, the mosquitoes were feasting on him, and the two of us. The staff could not have been nicer, they got us bug spray and helped us get the first available table inside, a table that seated 8, but they hooked us up anyway even though they could have given it to a bigger party. We each got a drink (well earned after a long day with a baby in the keys). And the Key Lime Martini is my new favorite! I will absolutely be back for another next time I am down. The Tuna Nachos were ok, chunks of rare ahi on top of seaweeds salad over 4 wantons, which got a tad soggy by the time we found them. I would have preferred a few shoved on the side and a spoon to head the tuna on top rather than digging them out from the bottom. They use seaweed salad on top along with the tuna and I'm picky about my seaweed salad but it was good. The fish tacos were just ok. Mine were with blackened shrimp, good not great. His were grilled mahi mahi, which he felt was beyond bland. Gave him the second of mine which he thought was just ok. But it didn't come with anything on the side, just two tacos on a plate. For the price they could have thrown in some rice or something. Our two drinks, two orders of fish tacos, a kid's Mac & cheese, and the tuna nachos was $80. So not terrible but not cheap either. But when I unwrapped my silverware there was a small bug, maybe a European Earwig. I know it can happen but still sort of icked me out. And the bathroom (one room, with two stalls, one for men and one for women) was sort of gross. Someone peed all over the two stalls and the AC didn't work. I thought the ladies stall was pretty bad and he agreed on the men's. But the staff was so awesome, accommodating and kind we never mentioned the other stuff. All in all I would go back.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS TUNA NACHOS!! TRY THEM! Ok, I'll say more: atmosphere is relaxing, restaurant is literally on the water. staff is very friendly and helpful with explaining the menu items. Aldo was our waiter and he was 5 star. I will be back next time I'm in Islamorada.

Absolutely gorgeous view of the ocean and naturally growing plants. Service was wonderful as well for Saturday lunch. Food unfortunately was over priced and not as good as the hype. Tuna nachos are a Japanese dish with raw tuna over a bed of seaweed salad and not at all what I had in mind. Overall, be prepared to pay for a view. Customer service was excellent. Thank you Aldo & Ruben!

Great location with access by boat. Decent menu but pricey for quality. Staff is older and have a hard time smiling. Lo Main just had celery for veggies - need snap peas at least. Lobster roll sandwich was good for $18. Kids like to feed the fish and see the baby sting rays and sea urchins.

Not impressed. Waitress slow & not very competent. They were out of shrimp! Food was okay. Maybe just hit it on a bad day.

I yelped this restaurant before coming although it was recommended by a friend. My major complaint about this place are the prices. I ordered what was recommended by my fellow yelpers and I was happy with the quality and quantity of the food. Those tuna tacos were amazing. They are like nothing I've ever had and they they made my belly happy. However my wallet was crying. Almost $20 for that "appetizer". The. We also ordered conch fritters. Luckily that was only $10. The drink: $10. And that's all we ordered. All the other appetizers were above $15. I understand when I'm going to a top notch restaurant I'm expecting to pay top notch prices. A regular restaurant should have regular prices. It may sound like I'm being cheap but I will go to any establishment and try it. I just didn't think this one in particular should of charged so much The service was good. No complaints there. And the view was beautiful. I recommend the nachos. They are a ten. However I hope they have a happy hour the locals can enjoy!

Best fish sandwich I have ever had. It was our first stop in the keys and we were blown away by the quality of our fish. We had to try the tuna nachos based on the Yelp reviews and we were pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure why I expected canned tuna over tortilla chips and nacho cheese and BBQ sauce or something. But what I got was a million times better. Raw tuna over a bed of seaweed salad and wonton crisps, spicy mayo and sesame seeds. We also had no idea of the humongous portion size, the two of us were so hungry after flying all morning, and driving all afternoon but it was still a struggle to finish this appetizer between two hungry travelers. They do not skimp on the raw tuna! So meaty and filling. Then came my fish sandwich. I ordered grilled yellowtail snapper. I don't know my fish, specially from this area, but now I know I like yellowtail snapper! I've had red snapper before fried and whole at my favorite Asian restaurant in Chicago, but this is beyond expectations. I'm just aad that I couldn't finish it because of the tuna appetizer. On top of that my fiancé and I ordered drinks - a mai tai for me and a Bloody Mary for him. Both drinks hit us in the face! If only our best friends were with us, we could have spent all night here eating and drinking by the water. Perfect.

Ok let me get straight to the point: THE TUNA NACHOS HERE ARE AMAZING!! Yes I agree that the concept sounds gross but hear me out. These are not "nachos" in the traditional sense as this dish is more Asian than it is Mexican. For the "nachos" you have crispy wonton chips which are covered with a layer of seaweed salad and sushi-grade ahi tuna. To top it off you have some soy sauce, sesame seeds, scallions, wasabi, and siracha. They are famous for this dish and if you are a sushi fan, it is awesome. You could probably have this app for your entree as it is also a good portion. In fact the tuna nachos are so good that I came here 2 days in a row just to have them. The other food here is also pretty good. My wife had a salad topped with blackened shrimp which was cooked beautifully. The shrimp were juicy and with just the right amount of spice. Overall you can't go wrong here, you have the waterfront location, covered outdoor seating, full-bar, great food, and laid back Keys attitude.

Nice service. Great place to take my family and the baby. Fish tacos were great. Gladly go back. Was getting crowded just as we were leaving. Need to go back and try other food they serve. Dog friendly.

Yummy food and cool key west style atmosphere ! Make sure you stop in for either the tuna or yellow snapper. Lots of fish so make sure you bring your appetite. Worth the visit.

The food was o.k., our server was really bad, very slow. I don't think we will return. We went in for a quick breakfast on Labor Day and the food took forever to come to our table. She never offered to refill our coffees. Just really disappointed.

Just stopped here after a day of snorkeling. Ordered the Tuna Nacho's and they were awesome! Very refreshing and filling. Our waitress Lala was very friendly and patient. The only thing when coming here just make sure you have a complete menu....mine was missing the page with drinks & desserts and my Hubby's was missing the page with all the sandwiches. Other than that... I agree they are the home of the Tuna Nacho's! And they had a really tasty Warm Brownie with vanilla ice cream...

Stopped for lunch with a party of 5 with only 3 people eating. The lunch menu is very expensive with most items over $15 including the apps. All the mixed specialty drinks are $10 and the prices are not on the menu. Two burgers were ordered out of the party and were so greasy the buns fell apart. Bill totaled $108. Would have avoided the drinks if we had known the price. Just be aware. Meh.

Great local place right on the mangrove. my crab omelet was tasty, huge with big pieces of lump crab for a lower price than the other restaurants. The staff is so kind and takes care of everyone. Few tourists here so I could taste the Keys vibe. The fishes were swimming right at my feet. I'll go back for a drink at the bar.

I really like the Island Grill. Now, full disclosure, we would go here for lunch after a long day of diving, food seems to taste better when you're exhausted! We went a few times, burgers, fish tacos, salads, the normal fare. All were big 'murica sized portions, with plenty of good flavor. The 'Tuna Nachos' were anything but, so don't go in there expecting a big heaping plate of tortilla's and well done fish. Basically it's a tuna sushi dish, it's GOOD, it's just not Mexican :) The outdoor patio has a great view of a little water inlet.

11 Apr 2015 I returned anticipating another excellent meal. I was surprised to find the parking lot was not packed as usual and the restaurant sparsely populated. The atmosphere seemed a bit rushed rather than the cordial inviting "come on in and enjoy" attitude I'd experienced in past visits. The wait staff appeared short handed and harried as we were seated beachside. I ordered RARE Ahi tuna. I received MED Well. What a waste of good tuna. Sweet Potato Fries were so over cooked they were nearly burnt. To top it off, our waiter was so rushed the two bills were charged to the wrong cards even after a second clarification of which card went with which bill. Implement a better training program for kitchen and wait staff or watch your parking lot turn into a vacant lot.

The key like pie is amazing! It was very creamy with the perfect amount of sour and sweet. I ordered the wasabi mahi with vegetables and coleslaw. The mahi and coleslaw were ok but the vegetables were garlicky and delicious. The conch fritters were not very good.

  • Ben B.

Mediocre food and slow and forgetful service earn this place two stars. Not worth your time. In case you're curious, the tuna nachos is just tuna with seaweed salad on crispy wontons, like you can get anywhere in the keys. The tuna was tasty, some other things were lackluster, like overlooked peel-and-eat shrimp. Live music on Sundays is nice. Could be a three star meal if you order the right things.

  • Evelyn C.

Loved sitting by the water and watching everyone on their boats. It was very relaxing. The music was great. They had a DJ playing some awesome island music. I thought I was in the Caribbean. I had the shrimp quesadillas and they were so good!! My party had the chicken wings. They were a bit small, but they had a nice crisp. The drinks were really good too.

One of the best resturaunts we have eaten at our stay in the keys so far. Everyone on yelp raved about the tuna nachos so we got this and the yellow tail fried snapper. We were very happy with the tuna nachos. This was some of the best poke we ever had. This is was an expensive restaurant but the porpotion size made up for this, we had tons of food. The baked potato with the fried snapper was so good ad well. Service was slow though, don't expect this to be a quick dine in and out place. The snapper could have also used more of a lemon seasoning before grilling and topping with their sweet sauce. Overall we would go back! :)

Very nice outdoor eating area. Everything we tried here was delicious. As advertised for what they're known for, we ordered the tuna nachos. They were absolutely delicious. A must try. The best we've tried in this area. For our main entree, we ordered the mahi fish tacos with sweet potato fries and their shrimp and grits. Both were Very tasty too. If you get a chance, try it out.

Inside or outside seating. Sit out by the water and watch the boat traffic. Fresh seafood and our favorite tuna tacos. Casual keys dining. Entertainment 7 nights a week.

The Thai shrimp spring rolls ($9) were delicious here as an appetizer but the sangria ($18 for a pitcher) was very watered-down. The shrimp tacos ($11) are delicious. There's plenty of outdoor seating with a gorgeous view right by the water. The prices are also great and the service is fantastic.

Beautiful view and location! Our group sat outside in the back. Steven was our server. He was very attentive and friendly. The food is great. Raw tuna dishes are super delicious, the appetizer and main course. I will definitely go back on the next trip.

While vacationing in Islamorada my wife and I visited a handful of restaurants. The night before we ate at Morada Bay, right on the sand surrounded by tiki torches... It was a wonderful meal. This night we decided to try Island Grill. From the moment we walked in it was a disappointment. The older woman that seated us didn't even say hello or crack a smile. We were just expected to follow her to our table. I ordered crab cakes and French fries that were inedible. We ordered a slice of key lime pie which was about 2 bucks more than any other place we've visited. The rum punch was $10. It was hard to believe that our meal ended up being about $25 more than the night before. Overall horrible experience and way too overpriced for what it is.

  • Steve F.

I'm rating this from a dining standpoint. First of all, they are wayyyyyyyyy overpriced and they nickel and dime you for everything. I got the lobster mac n cheese....26.95 for what looked like a side dish. Extremely disappointed because it looks like a really cool place but do yourself a favor and go down the road to Lazy Days, it's the same price for much better food. I will never come back here and you have been warned. Service was good not great. Atmosphere was great. That's the positive I have for this place. As I sit here I am thinking what I'm gonna have when I get back to the house.....

  • Melissa C.

The view is beautiful but that's what you really pay for. We only had a couple of appetizers and drinks which were ok. The best was the lobster bisque soup while the calamari was by far the worst one we have had....needed more seasoning and less batter!

This place has the closest thing to Poke (Hawaiian word for Ahi Tuna). When we're down in the Keys, we love coming here. Their food is fresh (fresh fish is always on the menu) and the ambiance is great. You can never go wrong with the famous Tuna Tacos. It's a must have. I also recommend the conch fritters and their sushi rolls...or anything with fish rather. Their service is good and you can eat indoors, outside on their beach, or in their covered patio. I also like the you can take your boat there, dock, and enjoy lunch or dinner after a sunny day at the sandbar.

Magnificent! Island grill makes me want to move to Islamorada. This place really is that great! Let's start with the spectacular views. There are different rooms and an outdoor seating area to provide the maximum amount of tables on the water. The water is clear and the restaurant is surrounded by water on two sides as the restaurant is on the furthest tip of land. The bartender waited on us and was so helpful we never even looked at the menu. My bloody orange mojito was outstanding, my ahi tuna nachos were life changing, and the scallops were mouthwatering. I can't wait to come back to this place and I haven't even left yet!

We were looking for a good meal while in Islamorada and wanted to go offsite from our hotel. Island Grill offered a water front spot. The sign out front says they have world famous tuna nachos so we had to try those. They were DELICIOUS! it was the perfect amount of wontons to wasabi to tuna. And the tuna was quality. By far my favorite meal in Islamorada! They also have a nice selection of local craft beer. Beware, the lights in the water at night can be mesmerizing!

Neat little spot on the water that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. I went here for breakfast and ordered the southwest skillet, which is scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, peppers, onions and home fries. It comes out on a piping hot skillet, which is nice since it keeps your food warm the entire time and it was a fairly large portion for only $8.00. It was very delicious. The only thing I don't like about this place is that the chairs are extremely uncomfortable. They're the wicker basket weave kind that leave marks all over your legs and the back of the chair is really far back, so it feels like you're slouching down and far away from the table. Great place if the weather is nice, as they have all the windows open to let a breeze come through. They also have an outdoor "beach" area that has seating as well, but I think it's only open during lunch and/or dinner as it was still being set up during breakfast with no one out there.

  • Austin S.

Great place, service and food are awesome. The setting is really cool. You can sit right alongside the water and watch the boats come and go from the marina next door! The breakfast food is really good...breakfast burritos and skillets are really well done! It's tough to find a bad place to eat in this area but this is the only place that we came back to a second time after a week of vacation! (Breakfast both times)

This place is known for it's tuna nachos... Not only did I eat them last night, I went there AGAIN today and got them. One word... Incredible... Giant chunks of fresh ahi tuna set atop a pile of seaweed salad set on a crispy wonton nacho. They are smothered in a perfect amount of shiracha and wasabi mayonnaise. This dish is an absolute must! In addition, we got a burger with fries and fresh mahi mahi tacos. Everything was great. Service friendly and helpful each time!

Beautiful view, bad service, bad attitude and really awlful food. Staying on Islamorada we wanted to eat diner and watch the NBA playoffs. I called numerous places and upon calling Island Grill was told "Yes the game is on here come and eat". It was not on and country music was playing and it seemed like an imposition for the Manager to turn the NBA game in the bar as she was to busy cleaning with bleach. Upon entering we were admonished that they were closing soon (40 Minutes). We were made to feel like we were interrupting the staff doing their side work to close up the restaurant. Both the items we ordered were sold out, we got the nachos and they were AWLFUL made with Krab meat not real Crab. Do your self a favor and pass on this place.

Great food nice view! Server was very pleasant and answered all the questions we had. Indoor and outdoor seating are great and have excellent views. We started with the conch fritters which were okay. Pretty basic but still delicious. The dipping sauce that came with it went well. Our entrees came out right when we finished our appetizer which is a plus (I hate waiting so long for entrees after an app). I had the tuna nachos and my boyfriend had the seafood pasta with marinara. DELICIOUS. The tuna was perfect sushi grade tuna. Perfect color!!!! I HATE seeing tuna with that glistening silver color or tuna that falls apart. This tuna was perfect. The wasabi dressing wasn't too overpowering too which is another plus. The seaweed was a great plus too it too. My boyfriend's seafood pasta was another delicious meal. He cleaned the plate!! Overall great experience. If you are in the area definitely stop in. Great local place without the crazy tourist life. Quiet and small place. Great for date night :)

Great waterfront place. Had a nice view of water & mangroves. Fresh seafood was great. We had a blackened mahi fish filet with a salad. Also a whole fried Hogfish snapper. They both were excellent. Key lime pie for desert since you have to have that while visiting the keys. Pie was good but not the very best.

  • Andrew J.

Keep on keepin on down the road. For the price the food was mediocre at best. Cuban sandwich tastes like ham and warm canned tuna, not pulled pork. Blackened chicken sandwich was good and moist. The staff was pretty good but not the most delightful crew. The ambience was nice sitting near the water. Pass, next.

The chicken sandwich is awesome... Marinated, fried, perfection! The spicy tuna roll was pretty darn good too! Love the view from the bar side!!!! This is a must visit place, friendly and helpful staff.

Simply put, this the worst restaurant I've ever visited in this country! Let's just not talk about the bad service and delayed food but the fact that this establishment changed the 15% tip to a 30% tip ... after I left the restaurant!!! Of course the charge appeared on my credit card a couple days later. I had call them about it. Who do they think they are? About the service, the staff made us feel like they did not cared our experience nor the impression they gave off to their customers, like some sense of entitlement, that we were lucky enough to be there in the first place getting their attention. Don't stop here.

Dockside fun: Right on the water, as with many restaurants, Island Grill is locally owned and it shows. Sprung out of a barely legal dock to include a bar, full restaurant, and outdoor space, try the tuna nachos.

  • Janie M.

The food was great but the two waitstaff we encountered had terrible attitudes. Seemed like it was a hassle that we visited their restaurant. Grouchy and one was rude to my four year old(blonde waitstaff w/knee brace on). Guess these people aren't happy that we brought some money to their establishment. Hope the owners read this and realize I would have given it 4-5 stars and raved specifically about their food right now if I wasn't so poorly treated. Hope you all get treated the same when you are on vacation.

Very cool place!! Kid friendly and they have a pet Iguana named Slash. The pecan banana pancakes were delicious!!! Get a seat by the water. It's like eating in an aquarium, fish swimming by and spiny lobsters on the rocks. Super cool!!

My wife and I ate here in late afternoon. My wife had a cheeseburger that was not cooked as requested. She ordered medium-well and it came back rare. I ordered the fish of the day in wasabe sauce. The fish was over cooked and tough. Probably one of the worst fish meals I have been served in a long time. I did eat about 25% of the fish and all the vegetables ( they were good). The positive for this restaurant was that they recooked my wife's meal and removed mine from the bill. So Kudos for service but the chef needs some training before we would go back.

Awesome place to s top and have lunch and enjoy the sea view! We love the food it was sooooo good! You must try the tuna appetizer or you will regret. We ordered the mango ribs and found so tender and so delicious! And we also tried the seafood cake burger and yellow tail burger. Love the seafood cake burger and the sweet potato fries!

Our favorite meal from our Keys Weekend. Not the absolute best food we had (that would be a couple miles north at Marker 88), but it hit all the right notes. Casual waterfront location, really good waitress, and awesome fresh seafood sandwiches. I had the the Mahi Reuben, girlfriend had the crabcake sandwich, both were fantastic. Home-made potato salad was great. Even the fries were remarkable.

    (5)
  • Ramon R.

Nothing special. None of the waiters are either happy or friendly. Fish sandwich tastes like Swanson frozen fish, no spices or flavor. You can skip. Ok for drinks, don't expect the great seafood meal of the Keys to occur here.

Ideal Key Largo restaurant. Our party sat at the bar so we would not have to wait for a table. The wait staff did seem quite slow on turning over tables. The bartender we had was great, she was friendly and attentive and made some good cocktails. After reading some reviews about the conch fritters I just had to order some. Wow, I agree with several others they were some of the best conch fritters I have tasted. Perfect amount of batter, moist and you could actually taste the chunks of conch. They were excellent. I would come here again just for some of them and margaritas as they were excellent as well. Mt friends laughed at me because I ordered a salad and since it came with chicken I just left it instead of switching it to shrimp or fish. The salad was good, dressing was very good as well. Prices are reasonable here and like I said we had very good service. The decor is typical old, rustic, wood benches with a place where you can walk out and look at the fish in the water. Fun place to eat and hangout.

Brought the boat down for lunch and had ana amazing meal with live music to compliment! Tuna nachos were outstanding! And the blue cheese fondu was amazing. Would recommend going with all appetizers and come on the weekend to enjoy the live music. Decent place to dock but come early.

Where do I even begin. We first ordered the Cuban and I asked if they could substitute the Swiss cheese (not a big fan) for anything else. The server said they "buy the Cubans pre-made and just heat them up. That's why it's only $12. It's just like what you buy at 7-eleven." We decided to order something else and I switched to the Rueben with Provolone instead of Swiss. He brought it out with sweet potato fries ($1.50 up-charge) even though I asked for regular. The sandwich tasted a little strange, so I assumed they forgot the cheese change and it was just because it was Swiss. I'm pretty easy going, so I took all of this in stride. That is until I finished half of my sandwich, picked up the second half and saw a spot of white on my cheese. I opened my sandwich and there was mold everywhere. I am a bachelor college student and know moldy cheese (I've scraped plenty off in my day). I alerted the server who agreed, said it wouldn't be on our bill, and took it to show the manager to see what else they could do for us (that was honestly plenty). The manager sent the server back to let us know that's how that cheese is supposed to be, and he couldn't comp it. So, I ate half a sandwich with sour moldy cheese, half my sweet potato fries, and paid for it also. I would have finished the fish sans cheese and my fries if I knew it was going to be charged to us. Ridiculous and pathetic. This restaurant does not deserve your business. Go elsewhere!

No star food at 5 star prices. Conch Chowder was depressing. Mostly canned tomatoes with tidbits of conch and a few veggies but only flavor was canned tomato. Thai shrimp were overly sweet. Very disappointing.

Nothing is really great at Island Grill. They were good previously as they had a good chef, but due to some family issues he's gone, and so is the quality / creativity. The food isn't terrible here, and the tuna "nachos" are pretty tasty, but if you're in the mood for a sandwich or lunch, I think you're MUCH better off going to the Hog right down the street.

Ordered the teriyaki tuna steak sandwich (ordered rare) Advertised as sushi grade but this was not the case, color was off and lacked that sushimi flavor I expect from raw tuna and a large chunk was inedible (never came across this problem before with tuna steak ).. sweet potato fries were over cooked, low in quantity and one of them had strange cotton fibers attached. Other items ordered at my table were also sub-par and for such an expensive place food quality should be much higher.

After hearing all the hype about the tuna nachos, was sorely disappointed. The execution of this dish was poor at best. Large portion of tuna was overwhelmed by the heap of seaweed, which turned the wanton into a soggy mess. Also had the bleu cheese and chips appetizer, which was also underwhelming. The bleu cheese was more like a pre-made "paste". Did not taste fresh or delicious. Two appetizers and iced tea for two = $50. Overpriced, overhyped, disappointing.

Not a bad place. We sat on the beach. Food and drinks were good. Had the teriyaki tuna steak sandwich which was really good. Wife had lobster roll which looked delicious but she mention lacked maybe some garlic. Kids had the typical. Kids drinks were not included with meal which made it pricier that normal and our food was maybe $2 too much but I guess it's the keys so it is what it is. I would eat here again

Walking in....it smells great. 2 rules in the keys....1. do NOT eat at a place that requires a huge billboard with a picture of a fish sandwich to entice you to eat there and 2. DO eat at a place (like this) with a bunch of local boats docked and mostly florida license plates in the parking lot. Tuna Nachos are outstanding. Burgers are good, fish tacos are done well (order some of the Conch Fritter Sauce with the tacos), Mahi Reuben is very tasty.....come to think about it....everything I've ever had here was REALLY good. They have a nice bar too. Even fries are good....pretty sure they use peanut oil....gives a really good flavor. They normally have someone playing some keys style music....not too loud....just nice atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the food comes out promptly. I have been here with large groups of over 20 and with just my wife & I and we have always been very happy....and people I bring here always thank me.

Stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon with three others. Nice place with waterfront seating where you can bring your pet and come by car or boat. Kind of pricey but normal for the Keys. Had a keyboard player singing Island music. Two of us ordered the blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich served with tropical sauce, lettuce, red onion & pickle ( $15 ). One order French fries ( $4 ). Both fish pieces were warm, but not hot like they should have been. A nice piece of fish with good flavor that was larger than the medium size bun that came with it. I would prefer a larger bun that fit the fish. One ordered the organic spring mix served with feta cheese and candied pecans with lite raspberry vinaigrette dressing ( $ 10 ) and added Ahi Tuna which was an additional $12 . A nice plate that was very good. One ordered the Island Grill Seafood Pasta ( sautéed shrimp, scallops & Mahi served over angel hair pasta with Alfredo sauce and garlic bread ). $ 24.. Also very good and cooked just right. I thought the quantity of food was small for the price. Our server was very good and the food came out quickly as they were not super busy. They have an inside bar, open air inside seating and an outdoor, covered seating area kind of in the back next to the water, also with a bar. We had a good expierence and would deffinately go back.

This restaurant took care of a last-minute reservation for 30 and provided great service and good food. Definitely a laid back location with a wide assortment of menu options and drinks. We appreciated the helpful nature of the staff and I even had the opportunity to chat with the manager about our university program. The facility is great and the service is fast!

Go around back and eat outside We stopped at Island Grill for lunch on our way to Key West. The tuna nachos were fresh with a nice crisp nacho. Not an easy feat when served outside in humid Florida. The little beach just gave a magical feeling. Highly recommend.

Another great spot for a meal on the water! We were on our way back to Key Largo after tooling around Islamorada, and had already eaten at the Island Grill up there when we saw the sign for this location off the highway. We had to stop! We chose to eat outside at the "beach" area. To get there was interesting -- walk along a REALLY narrow dock that snakes around the back area, along the water, with no railing, all the way to the back where there is water, sand, a stage, and several beachy tables with umbrellas. We weren't super hungry so we just split an order of conch fritters and had a couple of drinks. The service was friendly, and the conch fritters were good -- there was a lot more conch in the fritters than what I've experienced at other restaurants. We didn't stay longer than probably 45 minutes, but it was a really nice stop on our way back up. One thing I noticed as we walked back was that we could have snuck through the bar to avoid the super narrow dock, however, walking through the bar isn't nearly as scenic as the walk along the water. If you're inebriated though, skip the dock walk!

By the water..menu has great selection. We decided to stop here on our trip back from Key West. We were not disappointed. We ordered the seafood spread for an appetizer and it was yummy, but way too much for 2 people. Hubby got the seared tuna and found it to be quite filling and delicious. I got the seafood cake sandwich, and boy was it tasty! It was so nice to sit by the water and relax a few minutes before having to make a long drive. (We also enjoyed seeing some families pull up to the water side of the restaurant in their boats.) The only reason I did not give this place a 5 was because service was pretty slow.

  • Miguel R.

The guava ribs are really good. The shrimp w/ grits resembled a soup-based taco salad from some disturbing alternate universe. The salad brought out was basically a plate of onions w/ bad wilted lettuce on the side. The water w/ lemon was refreshing.

  • Louis A.

We were seated at about 7. Sat for nearly 10 minutes without being greeted by a server and the place was nearly empty. We got up and left.

Really good food. We ate at the beach area and it was great because my kids could have fun in the water while we waited for the food and there was no fighting or yelling. Food was very good, very fresh and tasted delicious. Pricing was average but definitely worth every dime. Would definitely go back another day.

First things first....the tater chip fondue is AMAZING!!! I love the mix of flavors all on super thick chips. Delicious! I also ordered the Mahi Reuben and it was very tasty. The server was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice and open. It sits right on the water so there is a nice breeze that blows through the restaurant. You can even pull up on your jet ski or boat and dock right at the restaurant!

The sign says beachfront dining. Really cute area in the back where we always eat. We drive all the way there from Miami (now we know to call first) and the back beach area isn't open. We're supposed to sit on the front deck with loud music and cigarettes and dogs! Wha!!!!!! We asked the woman who seats people why the back is closed and her answer........."I don't know" Not nice no info. so we left and went to Gilbert's. we'll go back but will call to see if the back beach is open. also, crabby lady, be nicer.

I was drawn in by the sign that says "Home of the Original Tuna Nachos" ... Needless to say I am glad we came in! The Tuna Nachos are one of the best things I have ever eaten. On top of that the Conch Fritters are amazing and full of meat. Nice little casual place that really feels like "The Keys". Service was a little slow at 1st but once our server got over to us the rest of our time was perfect! My wife might be a little drunk now though

Tuna Nachos are the bomb!!! Drink list is plentiful. Service has always been great and we've been here a half a dozen times on weekends. Dessert options are yummy! A must when we drive down to the keys!

soooooo good!!! went here on vacation over christmas and stopped in on our way to key west and even on our way back it was so good. Loved the setting over the water! and even after a long 10 days of drinking I can definitely say the "pain killer" here was the BEST drink of the vacation. Also the seafood cake and classic conch fritters were on point :) definitely king back as soon as I can!

Cute little spot on the water; great atmosphere for dining. However, our breakfast was very mediocre; cold over cooked eggs which took a long time to arrive (guess that is why they were cold). Service was perfunctory at best - not friendly or encouraging to return. Would not return!

Ahi tuna fish nachos! Its what this place is famous for, and for good reason. A water-side location, just off US1, this place has greatfood and drinks. After a lot of hype, we stopped here for lunch on the way back to Miami froma recent Keys trip. Our mission was the tuna nachos, which we conquered, but there is so much more. The nachos are a few fried wontons, with seaweed salad and ahi tuna over them, with a sauce as well. Amazing! We ordered some additional entrees like a Frueben (fish rueben), and fish tacos, which were both great as well. In regards to drinks, they use fresh hand squeezed lemons, limes, and oranges for their drinks, and it makes the world of a difference. Can't waitto go back!

I stopped in for a quick bite to eat and a couple of beers on a Thursday afternoon. This place was in walking distance to my hotel. I had two bottles of beer and I ordered an appetizer - graham cracker encrusted calamari. The calamari was really good - crispy and crunchy. I doused it with lemon juice, which is my own personal preference. I sat in the indoor bar section where the food is made and prepared (not to be confused with the bar in the main dining area). I would not recommend sitting here as the employees (and rightly so) are hard at work. It's noisy and difficult to relax.

Lunch here was really good - mango margarita was a little sweet but tasted fresh. Blackened Mahi Tacos were delicious and huge. Yellowtail sandwich wss also very good with the homemade tarter sauce.

  • Lea B.

What a fun find from the water (land too)! There was a big group of us who all ordered different things so we got to try a lot. The blue cheese and balsamic chips are great to start with. My Mahi Rueben was yummy as were my hubby's fish tacos. The ribs were described as "buttery" and the seafood salad looked great but we were confused by the bacon. Super casual and just as friendly. We would certainly go back.

    (3)
  • Arnold A.

The calamari was some the best I ever had. The service was good. Forget about fried Mac and cheese. Sweet tea very weak. Dine outside or bring a fly swatter with you. A bit pricey lunch averaged 25 per person no alcohol

  • Gina B.

Maybe it's because we went there around 9:30 pm but the place was not clean and our table was sticky. The employees threw food into the water and we even witnessed a bleach rag squeezed out over the water. Our table had rice in its grooves and lettuce under it. There was a medium sized dog at an adjacent table well behaved but unexpected. We ordered shrimp tacos which had barely any shrimp, shrimp teriyaki rolls which weren't bad and two shrimp skewers which were thawed and not grilled at all. The waitress was nice and even insisted on taking the skewers off our tab. We had two sodas and all this was $51 with a $6 tip. Too expensive, not clean enough and they may want to revaluate their environmental practices.

Late post but going thru my phone found these pictures from Easter Brunch with the wife. Found this little spot cruising thru the keys Easter Sunday and glad we did. Will definitely stop by again. We sat right by the water (ask for outdoor seating). The Tuna Nachos are fantastic. We split a Shrimp Po Boy and munched on Coconut Shrimp and Fried Calamari on the side. Everything was GREAT! Just a little bit more than I expected to pay but you are in the Keys so pricing is a little different.

The food is overpriced and the service was horrible. Lobster Mac and Cheese, okay but not for $30. Wasabi Tuna on Seafood good. Service was so bad I would not recommend you go to this place.

Absolutely amazing food, great service, and a fabulous location! Eat while watching barracuda and jacks swarm around lights by the dock. Coconut crusted yellowtail was spectacular accompanied by a really really good mojito. Excellent breakfast too- veggie omelet with spinach , mushroom, and tomato w feta. Yum!

First let me say that the Thai shrimp appetizer was very good. It was easily the best part of our experience outside of the view from sitting at the bar. The bartender was very busy and looked like he was the only one that was actually working. I think that led to the SLOW service that we got. A manager and another waitress stood and talked to the couple next to us while the bartender ran his ass off. When I did finally get to order my drink and made a change from one of the ingredients in the drink he made a facial expression that showed his displeasure. When I got my drink there was a very long hair on the glass and into the drink itself. When we showed it to the bartender he said that "It definitely wasn't mine." He had a ponytail that went almost to his waist. I buzz my hair and my wife didn't fix my drink so it was obvious it wasn't ours. We got no apology, just a new drink. The smoked fish dip included ingredients that were not on the menu and it honestly looked like they got it out of a can. I could find any pieces of fish in their "smoked in-house" fish dip. After watching the bartender serve those at the bar and at least 3 other tables away from the bar and not seeing the managers help out at all in a very crowded restaurant we decided this was a management issue and not at worker issue. There were several times that I looked on the floor and saw no wait staff during a FULL HOUSE time, just our bartender. Members of our family had been there and recommended it but I was VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Great fresh seafood in a rustic island setting. Saundra our waitress took good care of us. If you like whole fried fish get the crispy yellowtail snapper..it was fresh, fried perfectly and the Thai sauce was great. The conch fritters were also on point. The rest of the reviews were right about the fritters. The key lime pie was good too.

    (4)
  • Matt L.

Careful. Apparently had a good chef previously, but has left. Food quality is questionable. The guava ribs had a kick to them, but lacked any guava flavor. Some lady wearing light up necklaces came to our table to attempt to sell to us. Bit of a fruit loop. Our service was a little un-attentive, but was friendly. The radio was OK, but The key lime pie is the bees knees.

Very fresh, very friendly service. Tuna nachos are excellent - and big enough for an entree or for two or three to share. Magi tacos are outstanding. This will become a regular stopover on Keys visits.

A cute place on the water. Good view from the bar-lounge area. Nice and cool inside. We watched the boats come in. A great place if you have a lot of time. We ordered a Cuban sandwich with cole slaw. It was good, slaw was made with pineapple and it was tasty. My friend ordered shrimp sandwich and she said it was great. It had a line citrus dressing on it, great. We did watch out food sit there a while before our server brought it to us. The waitress was friendly and trying.

Their shrimp roll and buffalo shrimp sandwich are awesome. The portions are massive for the sandwich and you could share it between two along with shrimp roll and drinks.

This is my favorite little place in the Keys! I love sitting by the water, the food is great and the ambiance is just "Keys" to me. Today our party had the fish sandwich (one fried, one blackened, both tasty!), the Cuban sandwich (well executed) and the shaved ribeye (Philly cheese steak) also much appreciated. The beer was cold and the day hot: a perfect Keys kinda combo!

Great view, service, & food. Can't go wrong here. We enjoyed conch fritters to start. I had a delicious Big Bobb salad with Ahi Tina. It was nicely assembled and the tuna was perfectly seared. The Key Lime pie was universally loved at our table. Island Grille was the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful coastal setting while partaking in a solidly crafted meal. Great for the kids too!

Great spot to stop when heading down to any of the keys. Fun, laid back, live music, water views, great menu options, and delicious food. We had the coconut shrimp, strawberry salad, and conch fritters. All very tasty and affordable. Good drinks too! Highly recommend.

This place is very nice and has a great view when you dine. On weekends, they do lunch and dinner on the beach area. Their fish sandwiches are great. Calamari is great as well. We always stop here when we come into town. The staff is always friendly so enjoy some great food, an awesome view and if you get lucky, some good entertainment

Awesome discount for anyone in uniform. Food is sub par. Service has gone down considerably in the last three years. Indoor area smells a little like stale beer. The view is mostly the mangrove trees. If your in the sun it's gonna be a long meal. Floor seems a little untrustworthy.

    (3)
  • Lindsey T.

It's not bad to stop for a quick bite. Mahi fish tacos were good. Sweet potato fries were a "skip." Over cooked and lack flavor. No seasoning either. Key lime pie was average at best. Not very tart and not very firm. I also don't think they put real whipped cream on it.

    (3)
  • Aliya Z.

Tuna nachos are delicious with lots of fresh tuna and seaweed salad! In Japanese restaurant, the chef would use that tuna portion to make tuna rolls for a week time!!! Huge portion and the best tuna in my life!

  • Jim W.

I should have gone with my first impressions, as I viewed the kitchen from a distance and likened the "chefs" to being remarkably similar to auto mechanics in their appearance (sans the axle grease I hope) .The shrimp rolls notwithstanding, which was the ONLY redeeming part of the meal. Otherwise in all other respects, it was a dismal experience. The service was nothing less than a bad joke, the entrees (fish sandwich & ribs) were an exercise in camouflaging inferior quality and presentation. To give you the complete picture, it took 2 attempts by 2 different servers (not ours) to get the attention of our server, who mercifully gave us our check. It was only the 3rd time I ever have not left a tip. Run don't walk away... Whatever positive feedback about this establishment has been made, it obviously referred to a different time. Or by friends or relatives of the owners or staff.

Tried this place early in our stay, and just kept going back... The beach is open for dining on weekends, and makes for a whole new experience after a weekday visit. Try the tuna tacos, the tuna roll, and the whole fried snapper. Multiple visits required. Rum runner with floater is generous on the rum.

  • Katie G.

Over cooked fish, very disappointed. Use to be better. We have a vacation home around the corner and use to love this place. Not sure whats going on in the kitchen. Others have warned me but I really thought it was maybe a bad night for either just the kitchen staff or my family. Came back a few weeks later and it was the same over cooked yellow tail snapper. Love the location. Sadly the food is not good any more.

If I had to choose a "go to" restaurant when traveling between the middle/lower keys and mainland Florida, it would more times than not be Island Grill. Over the years, they made some positive alterations to the building; my favorite change being the covered outdoor eating area at the entrance. I wish I could say the service and food have made some positive changes too but sadly they have remained the same for about a decade. The food and service aren't typically bad, just a bit inconsistent. SERVICE: The servers are almost always upbeat and friendly (although the last visit was scarred by a server in a miserable mood). Most of the time they do a good job servicing the table but small errors are common (easily fixed and not normally ruining the meal). FOOD: They have a few dishes that never disappoint such as the mahi rueben sandwich, graham cracker crusted calamari, spicy tuna roll. Other dishes are quite good too but these dishes get my "time tested seal of approval". Be forewarned, some of the dishes (including my recommendations) can be a bit greasy. AMBIANCE: The whole place just oozes with laid back florida keys charm. Grab a seat facing the open water in the A/C or under the covered patio dining area and watch the boat traffic, or better yet get a better view sitting at the beachfront tables. Overall, the food and service are on par but the with the "sometimes" blah service or errors I just can't give that 4th star... sorry, but still worth recommending.

Awesome food.....and even better service! One little thing.....we loved being outside by the water, but the bugs were not fun! Husband loved the snapper sandwhich, kids had burgers and I had an amazing Cobb salad! Fabulous Arnie Palmer Tea! They use mango tea and it is really great!

Great spot for happy hour, but no one has any idea what was going on. We saw the sign for the tuna nachos on our way in, and decided to go back to check it out for happy hour. We walked in the front door, and told the hostess we were there for happy hour, and we aware it was at the bar only. Thing is, the place is basically three bars and a bunch of bar tables, and she had no idea where was included and where wasn't- told us to go ask the manager, and pointed ( ahem, isn't that YOUR job?). Manager told us we could sit on the beach at the tree table, so we did. Waitress showed up and gave us flack for siting there, double checked we got the OK from the manager, they handed us off to another server muttering under her breath about how we wanted happy hour- fine with me: she had zero tables and apparently didn't like being tipped- I call that a win-win. Our new server came open and was super friendly, though he had no idea what beverages were included on happy hour and which ones weren't. In his defense, it became apparent to me that there hasn't been clear instruction on the matter from management/ ownership. We ordered the tuna nachos, wings, and conch fritters- all were delicious. "The beach" is a great spot to unwind after a day in the keys (though what you would need to unwind from in the keys still escapes me. Definitely recommend this spot. Final note: these guys pretend they're the only game in town with the tuna nachos. While they ARE incredible, you can get them elsewhere. Loralei down the street has them for $5 less. That being said, I highly suggest ordering these at every available opportunity- they are that f'n good.

A beautiful setting. If the weather is cooperating sit on the beach. Don't kid yourself this is a gourmet restaurant or that Gordon Ramsey just left and he's sorted the service. It's laid back service in a great setting and if you read all the reviews you'll see you have to pick your food carefully. Conch fritters were OK, Tuna Nachos really good. Crab Cakes really good pasta primavera pathetic. I've been before and I will go back. Before you go in say to yourself ... "It's about the Keys Experience" 3 times and then you will love it.

We were driving down to Key West on December 26, 2012 and stumbled upon this bar and grill. Phenomenal! The view, location and food - amazing! I had the ahi tuna nachos - seriously fresh and delish. The server was so friendly and very attentive - somehow she made us feel like locals, loved it! If I lived near this place, I'd eat here at least once a week. How can you go wrong with eating fish 5' from where it was caught! Laid back and cool. I'm so glad we accidently found this place!

The Spicy Tuna Roll had more rice in it than tuna. And the the tempura on the outside was soft instead of crunchy. Don't think I'll be having this plate again.

My husband and I were driving through and stopped. Ate on the beach, food was excellent but the service sucked. Asked for water three times, never got it. My husband asked for another drink.... Never got it. Take your chances but good luck.... Maybe don't eat outside.

Great dinner. And they don't allow people to smoke all over you while you eat. Tuna nachos were excellent. My husband had the snapper and it was out of this world in flavor. I had the shrimp and grits. Excellent as well. I would have given it 5 stars but their rum has a funk taste. Even the gentleman behind us returned their drinks. He told me he owned a bar for 40 yrs and never tasted anything so awful. Great food but stick to the wine. Great for kids too. Took key lime via carry out and it was best I had here!!!!

  • Dan F.

This is a really good restaurant that has a laid-back feel. As others have said the Tuna Nachos are worth writing home about. They are NOT nachos with tuna on top, the use of the word "nacho" is more playful. Think of this more as a unique tuna dish that has crunchy elements. It is fantastic and you should order it. The catch of the day is always good as well. A solid relaxing fish place that has a good mix of locals and tourists. Also good for breakfast.

    (5)

  • Jack S.

Overpriced and mediocre. The place and setting are lovely and very mellow. The staff was friendly. The food however is mediocre. People keep saying that great food in the keys is mediocre food everywhere else. You're paying for the views. One particular note was the $15 seafood salad which boasted crab, shrimp and bacon. There were 4 shrimp, about a teaspoon of crap and another teaspoon of bacon, if that.

    (2)
  • Samantha R.

Tuna Nachos. I don't care about anything else on the menu, it is the Tuna Nachos that floats my boat in the keys. Sashimi tuna on a bed of wakame on top of a fried won ton, drizzled with wasabi cream sauce and sriracha. Outstanding! The mussels were okay (good, but nothing special), the conch chowder was good and spicy, the smoked fish dip was also a standout, and the whole hig fish was a little over-fried, but the sweet chili sauce covered it up decently enough. I would definitely recommend this place as a "Keys" place - and you have to get the Tuna Nachos. Next time I go, I am not going to waste stomach room on other food - I am going to order 3 plates of Tuna Nachos and be content.

Went to the Island Grill last night 8-1-14. We had a large group of 15. The Hostess was so rude! Think she would have liked us to leave instead of help find a table to accommodate our group. It was 5:30, so it wasn't busy yet. We had to wait 30 minutes to pay our bill. When I asked the Hostess if she could help the server she ignored me. We've been going to eat there for years. We absolutely love the Tuna nachos. Great water views too. If they want repeat business they better get a friendly hostess. For now, we don't plan on going back.

The Tuna Nachos are amazing and as good or better than people had told me. If they have Hog fish in, the Crunch Catch Sandwich is a must!

YUM!! My friend and I visited on the way down (thanks to former Yelpers) to Key West this past weekend. We were craving something fresh and light (trying to be healthy before we ruined it in Key West for our friend's 30th bday! :)) and it surpassed our expectations when the food was delivered! We felt sac-religious ordering anything but seafood, so shared the Tuna Nachos and split an order of the Blackened Mahi Tacos. Both were incredibly fresh, but the Nachos were like anything I'd ever had before!! There were three large crispy wontons at the bottom topped with seaweed salad, ahi tuna, soy and wasabi sauces, along with all kinds of other deliciousness! Party on a plate for sure. These are a MUST if you decide to go! The only minor complaint I have was a bit of slow service, but our server was SO nice that you couldn't be mad at her. Plus, no one moves at a fast pace in the Keys, isn't that the main reason we all go?! :)

This place sucked. Definetly had the locals only vibe. My food was overcooked and very dry, which was surprising because I just got chicken wings. The haggard waitress was extremely rude while taking our order and "forgot" to bring our drinks. Probably could have sensed we were tourists so we got treated as such. If you want better service and better food while visiting Islamorada look elsewhere where there are plenty of options on US 1. The 1 extra star is for the cool dog that was there.

Has to be one of the coolest places to eat in the Keys. It's small and it's basically a boat dock with a roof and partial walls. It sits on a small canal off of the snake river. The windows zip in and you can see the water below you through the cracks in the floor. You can arive by boat if you have one. Food is excellent. We took our own catch for them to prepare ... We had their appetizer smoked tuna nachos. Nothing at all like a nacho, it was more like a huge plate of sushi. Excellent. Our fish was done family style blackened, grilled, fried, and coconut fried; all were good. Not greasy. Baked potato, vegetable medley, sweet potato fries, rice, a salad, all were good. Food was great, atmosphere casual, topped off with key lime pie it was a great meal. I would recommend that any visitor to the islands visit the grill.

We stopped here based on a recommendation from a lady that works at the Islamorada Visitor's Center. who also gave us a 10% discount card if we went there. I wish we had gone someplace else. the location was nice, sitting out in the sandy area on the water was a nice experience. however, the service was pretty bad. I got the fish tacos and asked for the salsa on the side. My husband had asked for cheese on his burger. both weren't excessive requests. we both noticed the error immediately, so we ended up having to wait another 10 minutes for the food. And the waitress never came back to check on us once. and we had to flag her down to get her attention. I wanted more water, and never got it. it was just poor service. the food wasn't even that good. There are other places that are way better.

Random trip to Key Largo because of our seafood craving? YELP TO THE RESCUE! I kept updating the Yelp app to show us the nearby restaurants and Island Grill was our choice. Do yourself a favor and order The Original Tuna Nachos and their Graham Cracker Crusted Calamari. The pictures tell it all. De-lish!

Excellent food, good live music, nice views and good service. My wife had the tuna nachos, excellent! I had the Bobb salad... outstanding! Kids had grilled marinated chicken, cheese burger and kids pasta. All were very happy!

WTF. REALLY?! We had to stop by this place because we were really hungry. Got the seafood nachos...which is not good. To pair pure seafood (imagine the taste of a simple shrimp) on a nacho filled with onions, cheese, etc...is not a good combo. Ordered crab cake sandwich with fries. Not good. A very basic, and simple menu...family owned..where people stop here just because it's convenient and not to seek it out. Wouldn't come back here again. Service is good though.

The best part of this place is the ambiance. It's located right on the water. Boaters will pull up right next to you while you eat. It feels a little crowded there but the wait staff has always been friendly and fun. The food is solid but a little pricey. I've never had a terrible experience there.

My hubby and I wanted to try this place out after arriving hungry to The Keys. Walking in, we were immediately greeted, given menus and brought to our table. Browsing through the menus everything looked delicious and smelled good. But after 10 minutes of waiting with not even one server checking on us, we were starving and started to get upset. We saw the manager couple of times pass by us. Nothing. We saw people seated after us being served; a really bad sign. Hungry and upset we walked out not even bothering to ask the staff anything. After that miserable experience, we drove on down to another restaurant on the water where we received a quicker and friendly service! Trying out several other eats in The Keys during the 3 day weekend really left us no reason to give this place a chance again!

At an earlier date I would have given Island Grill 4.5 stars, but their decision to exploit a tuna "shortage" is unacceptable. I have been going to Island Grill since they opened years ago and fell in love with their classic Tuna Nachos, delicious and plentiful breakfast buffet and the "come as you are" keys atmosphere (the manatees swimming by also don't hurt). Recently I went to brunch with my brother and girlfriend, I orded some poached eggs, solid. My girlfriend also ordered an omelet, she couldn't complain. My brother ordered the Tuna Nachos appetizer which was listed as $14.95, an already steep price for an app. When we got the bill the Tuna Nachos were $18.95... a $4 increase. When I brought this up to our polite server she said that all tuna prices had been increased due to a "tuna shortage," and that she would not honor the menu price... Supposedly there was a printed out page, taped to the menu that was missing from ours, alerting customers that all tuna dishes were priced $4 more. This is price gouging plain and simple. According to other local restaurant owners and chefs the "shortage" has only slightly raised prices and other restaurants are not increasing prices at all. Island Grill is GOUGING their tuna prices because they think their claim to inventing "tuna nachos" gives them the right to exploit tourists that order before looking at the disclaimer. The food is good but this aggressive practice is unacceptable. I will not return until Island Grill gets over itself. Note: I rarely review on Yelp but felt compelled to after being ripped off.

We went here for dinner mid week and decided to sit in the bar area due to very loud live music playing in the main restaurant. We had a view of the channel and mangroves. Our service was slow and didn't seem too knowledgeable. I ordered a flavored martini which was way too strong to drink. Seafood pasta was good but the lobster mac 'n cheese was bland. I was very disappointed to pay $27 for something with no flavor. The brownie dessert was yummy but very rich and definitely sharable sized. The fried cheesecake is disgusting, it was like cinnamon crusted slime. Overall the place was way overpriced and I would not go back.

I had a tasty grilled grouper sandwich with fries. Not overcooked. Service was very good. unfortunately once the sun went down my outside location became mosquito central and I evacuated inside to the bar. I'll keep the Island Grill in mind for a lunch but will probably be tentative if I know mosquito's are active.

The setting is one of the most beautiful spots in the US simultaneously in the mangroves and on the ocean. Second, it's delightfully casual in an incredibly relaxing way. The service is friendly if you are (which we find to be the norm in the Keys. After all that's why people come to live here.). The tuna nachos - nothing Mexican about them - are filled with tasty sushi grade tuna, wasabi creme glaze, seaweed and wonton. Absolutely delicious.

Great views I don't know about lunch or dinner but breakfast was not good. Service is mediocre but, food come out fast. The buffett looked terrible and our breakfast was nothing special and very small portions.

Ate here for dinner last night and thought the food was only so-so. The conch fritters were good to start but the special lobster and crab bisque was way too salty and could've used more chunks of meat in it. For dinner I got the wasibi crusted snapper, which was a little too sweet for my taste with not enough spice! I should've went with my gut and just have the fish sandwich, which you couldn't possibly go wrong with. Oh also tried the famous key lime pie which was overly sweet with not much key lime tart. Guess I'm just spoiled with My Bob Roth's New River Groves Pies!

Best breakfast in the Keys!!! Poached eggs with toast with a side of sausage gravy... Mind blowing... Tuna nachos of course amazing as previosly stated by people before me who have experienced the magic. Crunchy catch fish sandwish... fish encrusted with crushed up potato chips fried to perfection on a briche bun... gives a posh twist to a homemade pasttime... beats any sandwich I have ever put chips on. Absolutely beautiful views and decent service make this place a gem in the desolate keys...

Best fish taco's I have ever had and I ate them on a deck next to the water with an ice cold beer, I will let you know if I ever find a better fish taco experience but I doubt it. I introduced my youngest son to fish tacos here and he is hooked. I have been a number of times and always had great food and service. Wife and two kids all loved the food and wanted to plan our return trip from Key West so we would go by at lunch time. Very laid back as you would expect. This was just a dumb luck find the first time. It is good to be Craig.

Stay 2 nights at Islamorada and we came here for 2 nights straight just to eat their TUNA NACHOs!!! Its so goooood! and the tuna piece are huge. I wouldn't say it's a nacho because there's no cheese in it lol. It's more of a seaweed salad and two piece of won-tons added to the dish to make it a 'nacho'. So craving for the Nacho right now, but too bad am back in AZ.

Monday night at a restaurant, we should have known better. We wanted takeout conch chowder (6- 8 0z containers 1/2 full), 1 tuna nacho and 1 booze drink +1 diet coke. Not much? Well, first of all the order cost $80, yes $80. If it had been very good or even good that would have been OK but the chowder was very thin like it had been watered down from Sunday's pot. Not much conch in that chowder. The chowder was not ready so my two daughters sat at the bar and one had a diet coke and the other a martini. When she asked for more olives the bartender threw them in the diet coke. Funny? I don't think so. These women were not kids by far. My husband and I went there end of Jan. 2013 and had an OK dinner--fish overcooked and cuban sandwich too greasy to eat. My husband wrote a review in his fishing blog and the owner wrote back and said he would do better next time. In the last decade we must have gone to Island Grill at least 50 times. We were always happy with the experience over the years. What happened? PS--You never know who your customers are until it is too late.

Best overall seafood place on islamorada! Not pretentious like Islamorada Seafood company, and not "dive-ey" like the Tiki Hut. Only drawback us the same waitress was mixing drinks and serving food, but that could be an exception.

I found the place for its advertising of the famous fish nachos. It's really sesame layered raw tuna on top of a fried wonton with sea weed salad. It was real tasty to say the least but nothing like the title. Had the conch chowder and mahi sandwich, both were excellent. Overall a great little spot with a 1970's ambiance.

Fresh seafood in a truly quirky and delightful waterside setting. There is 'the beach' outside, and covered seating on the porch (also very outside!) Either way you're near water while also being right next to the highway. I know this sounds like it would be disturbing, but it wasn't. It was semi-surreal, and wonderful. On a drive down to the Keys, or whenever in the area, try Island Grill. I highly recommend you get yourself a Sea Dog. Having never had one before, I didn't know what to expect. As the name would suggest, it's a long, fried piece of cod in a hot dog roll served with fresh salsa, onions, and a spicy mayo. The double-fried fries on the side made this the perfect seafood shack lunch.

  • Sally C.

OMG what can I say about their Tuna Nachos? They were a surprise so be careful if you do not do Sushi/Sashimi because this is raw tuna! Regardless it was absolutely a nice twist to what we were expecting - of course we didn't read the description either on the menu we were just HUNGRY! Love them and the seaweed salad it came with - to die for! Had the Grouper Sandwich and it was a mammoth size filet! It was nice breaded and cooked to perfection! The environment is nice but unfortunately our waiter was probably thinking more Key West relaxation than service - he was a bit spacey. For that I had to bring it down one notch - maybe after another go around that part might change...

Friends and I went to this place to try it for the first time. I tried the Mahi Mahi and they had the Cuban sandwich. Can I say a little peace of heaven? The chef did a phenomenal job and we couldn't stop raving all the way home at how delicious it was. I asked to speak to the Chef, Chef Roger as he is an asset to your restaurant.

On the water with an ocean view. This marina-connected treasure is a packed for lunch tourist Mecca. But we are on our quest to find the best conch chowder in the Keys, so we won't allow for any distractions. Here's the critique in their conch chowder...hot and spicy. Not overly spicy, but a little salty for my taste. Strong pepper and bay leaf predominate the overall taste. After a few bites, the saltiness seemed to adjust. Chowder stars: Tom 4 Bill 4

Easily among the best places we eat at the Keys. Nice breezy seating by the water, where we can see people coming in to eat by boat. A musician playing guitar and singing Beatles and other oldies but goodies. We ordered the calamari, which is light, not greasy, with the graham cracker giving it a sllightly different flavor than what are used to. In all honesty I was hesitate about ordering the tuna nacho, as I wanted to try something more local. But I was glad I ordered it. It's a huge portion, very generous heap of wakame seaweed, topped with tuna and spicy sauce. Similar to what I would expect at a Japanese restaurant but not at such a bargain! They also have a roast beef at $9.95 but we kind of worried that the price is a little too low for good quality meat. My hubby ordered the ribs w guava sauce. I suppose it's better to stay away from meat at this restaurant - the ribs were not tender nor flavorful enough, though we were told they were slow cooked. The black bean and corn salad side that came with it was nice though. Any problem? Yes.... the mosquitos. THey were ruthless!

Waterfront dining can often mean good views with crappy food, but this restaurant pleasantly surprised me with a great meal. Ordered the stuffed Florida lobster - for $21 got a large 1.5 to 2 lb lobster that was topped with jumbo lump crab meat that resembled crabcakes I used to enjoy in Maryland. Also had a half rack of the ribs, which were fall off the bone tender with a zesty guava BBQ sauce. While the meals took a while to come out, they were definitely worth the wait. Waitresses are a bit rough around the edges, but friendly enough. They had a live Caribbean singer when I was there, entertaining the folks on the patio. If I'm ever heading back down the Keys, I'd definitely come back!

Don't let appearances fool you -- I had this place pegged as tourist-tacky due to its signage but came here from the yelp reviews. I was pleasantly surprised! We actually came here twice during our trip and I (unashamedly) got the guava ribs both times. Good drinks, friendly service, and awesome location on the water.

Stopped in here to eat before heading back to the beach after an adventure on the motorcycle. It was recommended by a friend and it looked oh-so-inviting. As others mentioned the setup is lovely, you really couldn't ask for something more relaxing. I was disappointed not once, but twice when I tried to order beer... both were out :( bummer on a hot summer day! I finally did get a beer they weren't out of. We started with the conch fritters, which were great. We both ordered variations of Mahi that were both pretty good. Not the best pieces of fish I've ever tasted, but definitely not the worst. Had some brown spots & oddly considering the location didn't taste all that fresh. We split some key lime pie, which was a nice finish to the meal. The staff was friendly. All in all I thought it was OK, next time I go to the keys I'd like to try another place though. After sampling a few other places I'll probably come back for a visit here.

I was in the keys for the weekend and was highly craving lobster rolls. I should've known when I ordered them and the waitress couldn't remember if they had any that it was not a top seller. It tasted no better than a typical seafood salad from the supermarket or as someone in our group pointed out- subway seafood sandwich. Unfortunately for us- this lobster rolls were about 3 times the price of the subway one. I did also get shrimp tacos which was pretty good and tried a conch fritter- also pretty good. I feel like the waitress should've warned us that the lobster rolls were not that good when all 4 of us ordered it. Save your money and visit another place in the keys for your lobster roll fix.

It doesn't get more "Keys" than this. The setting is gorgeous, service is great and the food is delicious and fresh. We were in town for a wedding and ended up having three meals here (including the rehearsal dinner!). Still dreaming of the conch fritters.

Came across Island Grill while searching for a place that makes lobster rolls. I tried one in Key West a few weeks back and I HAD to find a place in Islamorada that sold 'em. Unfortunately for me four of my other friends who also ordered them, it tasted and looked no different than some Publix seafood salad on an untoasted bun. Besides this total fantasy lobster roll fail, the other items are just OK. We ordered the Tuna Nachos which were actually pretty good. My friend's crab cake sandwich was apparently "meh". The ONLY real winner were the conch fritters. We left wishing we just ordered 10 baskets of conch fritters. Nice, casual place overlooking the water, good to munch on a bunch of appetizers. Find your lobster rolls elsewhere.

I had lunch. A grouper sandwich. It was good. Not the best grouper sandwich I've ever had in the keys but still good. It's very nice to sit next to the water. The menu prices are about average for the keys. Atmosphere is laid back and casual. I will go again.

What's this? A cross between a juke joint and a fancy restaurant! Hanging out over the water, this open air simple bar restaurant is clean and has an easy, relaxed feel to it. The service is fast, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the food with helpful suggestions. We stopped for a late lunch on our way to Key West. The conch fritters were typical round balls of cakey fried dough. Skip'em. What makes this place great is its inventiveness and creativity with food. Exhibit A: tuna nachos; fresh sushi quality tuna chunks over a seaweed salad covering wonton noodles - so fresh, so different, so un-Florida, yet there it is! Our 12 year old had a pork steak sandwich that was thick and juicy and full of flavor. My Cuban sandwich was excellent. My partner's cerviche fresh and delicious. The entire menu is so interesting it takes you by surprise. Wish I could have sampled more.

Ok, I have NEVER liked raw fish. When I say I am a sushi fan, I mean the sushi rolls caked in rice, cream cheese, soy sauce, wasabi, etc.... I have never eaten raw fish, or seared fish, that I have enjoyed..... UNTIL NOW! My girlfriend told me to try their Ahi Tuna Nachos... I was like, "Hmm, meh,eh, okay, if you really want them. Sure thing." Thank goodness she lives down there and can get them anytime she wants, because I only let her have one piece. There were four huge chunks! I was in heaven!!! That was the most amazing dish I have probably EVER eaten in my life. The fish was fresh, topped with seaweed and siracha, and scrumptious wontons crispy lovelies for a taste of sweet and spicy!!! Oh, I would fly back to the Keys just for some more of that!!! I would pick up and leave Chicago and live in the Keys just so I have the peace of mind I can eat more of that whe... I'mma have to go, I have a flight to catch!

Another great place to grab a meal! We passed the place on the way back to our resort one evening and knew we had to eat there. We literally followed our noses here! The smell seduced us from the highway! We started with a Smoked Fish appie. Most of the places in The Keys have their own version of this dish. They are all different and most are good. This one stood out because it had just a hunt of spiciness that gave it a little punch, along with the rich smokiness of the fresh fish..perfect! Hubby was a bit fished out at that point and he got a burger. He loved it.He said it was cooked just as he asked(med well) and was accompanied by bleu cheese and avocado. I had a Mahi Reuben....good Lord, that baby was good! Fresh grilled Mahi fillet on rye bread, layered with a unique coleslaw and Swiss cheese and a smack of Thousand Island dressing, all grilled to a nice melt-y state. It had a nice sliver of a pickle on the side and potato salad that tasted like someone's Grandma made it! Service was great and we saw an iguana sunning itself on the docks as we left. FYI...service in The Keys may not be as swift as Chicago standards,but..really...what is your hurry?? Enjoy and slow down!!

Awful. The tuna nachos were stringy and tough. The blackened fish sandwich left a lot to be desired and was not fresh tasting. Neither of us finished our meals. After the hostess sat us we waited a long time until someone acknowledged us sitting at the table. Way overpriced. Definitely a huge disappointment.

The best part about this place is definitely the view. You're literally on top of the water. It's perfect for a nice afternoon of drinks or on a cool night for dinner. It has that vibe of "dive bar" meets "roadside shack" and it works for them really well. The BBQ pulled pork was terrific as well as any of the fish sandwiches. It's a prefect spot for lunch mid-way between Miami and Key West. Service is a little slow and 'un-interested", but adequate for a one hour meal.

I ventured to this spot last week for breakfast and thought it was great! We were sat next to a group of coast guards enjoying breakfast, so I knew we were in good hands. If the restaurant is filled with locals then it must be good! I enjoyed an egg white omelette with grits and whole wheat toast. The service and food were great. I would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in the area!

We stopped by yesterday for lunch on our way to Orlando (sniff, sniff), from Key West. Service: Service was ok, a little bit of a chaos when we first arrived but improved quickly. Food: We had the fish tacos as an appetizer and it was delicious. I had the Mahi Reuben it was a little bit bland but the bread was good. The fries were awesome. My husband had the Hog fish blackened sandwich and this one was delicious. The Sangria delicious as well. The setting of the place is like a small piece of paradise, like most of the people said here, taken out of a picture and idyllic. If you have a boat and you are in the area, you can dock your boat here as well. Mariela and Rob from Orlando, March 16, 2009

Save your money and head down the road for some seafood. This place has nothing outstanding. In my opinion, they are charging a little bit too much for mediocre food here. I rather use the money spent here for some seafood. There is nothing special here. We tried the ribs, the crab cake, the lo mein, and the seafood pasta with alfredo sauce. I find the lo mein and the crab cakes too salty for my palate. Maybe you guys tolerate sodium at a higher level, but these dishes are heart killers to me. The ribs and the pasta were okay, there's nothing special about them and there's nothing bad about them. They were passable.

This place is so what you expect and hope for from a keys restaurant, you would almost think it was staged for a movie. Tucked in under/next to the highway bridge over Snake Creek, it feels as out of the way as a 2 by 1/2 island can allow. Atmosphere was perfect. It is on a canal, with a pocketed mangrove wall on the other side. It looks like a conglomerate of run down shacks that someone painted with a vibrance of colors that suggests either the painter or the owner was on crack. Or they used whatever colors were on sale that week. There was live music playing, a Buffet wanna be who did fine for me. The menu was amazing. I will have to come back many times to try all the things I want to. Of the shrimp & grits, batter fried hog snapper and double bone in pork chops that were ordered at our table, the pork chops definitely won, although all were good. We ate so much, that I actually didn't even ask for the desert menu. Besides, there is a Dairy Queen on the way home for us.

If you pcture the bar that Buffet was walking to when he "blew out his flip-flop" this is what you would see. Kind of like an old fish house that someone fixed up and turned into a restaurant. It's so close to Snake Creek that you need to make a U-turn after the bridge to get here. The food was very tasty, and the service was good, our waitress was a nice middle aged lady who was very helpful when we order. When it came time to settle up she knocked 10% off the meal, since my sister's food was gonna go soggy if she tried to take it home. Michelle's food was great, but since it didn't have staying power for the next day! Now that is truly caring if the customer was satisfied.

We had traveled miles since our last stop for food. Made the trip from Knoxville, Tennessee and arrived around 11:30am and the weather was beautiful so we sat in the open air waterfront seating area. We ordered sandwhiches. Jerk chicken and Yellow Tail fish sand were great. Price was about avg from the other reviews we read. Two people total bill $27 with no appetizer. Pricey where I come from but its not apples to apples since there is no equivalent view/atmosphere in Tennessee.

This restaurant used to be a great place for locals and tourist alike. The attitude of the staff was great, management was active and friendly. Recently it appears to have new ownership who does not appreciate the previous formula for success. Changes seem to have demoralized the staff who have lost their smiles and great attitudes. The new way of doing things means the chef refuses to make a wrap instead of a sandwich, or put tuna in a tomato, or do anything not written on the menu. The desires of the customer are not important. The food is still good. The tuna nachos are great but over priced. Just don't ask to have it your way. I'll return when the restaurant changes hands.

I have been here several times now. This is my favorite dinner in Islamorada. There are a lot of reasons I love this place. To start, the entire restaurant has a beautiful view of the water and the mangroves. And every time I go, I get wonderful service. It is a family run business that always makes me feel comfortable, yet well taken care of. The absolute best part of this place, is the food. My favorite is their signature dish; the tuna nachos: (now for the tangent) In no way are they stingy on anything when it comes to this perfect compilation of huge, fresh won ton, a bed of perfect seaweed and sesame. now lets not forgot about the enormous chunks of ahi grade tuna dressed with sweet soy and a hint of sriracha. When you got here, you. must. get. the. tuna. nachos! Aside from the tuna nachos, I usually get whatever fish they have on the daily special list, and they have never let me down. Now for the side story about why the owner of this place is my favorite person in the keys. My friends and I took a cab here, because we were planning on having a few drinks (subliminal psa). When we were good and full of delicious seafood and wine, we called a cab company to pick us up. Much to our surprise, every cab company within a 30 mile radius was somehow, unavailable. The owner noticed the we were in a bit of a pickle, and she then gave us a ride home in her car. To sum it all up, Island Grill. Great food, great people.

Very unique menu - loved the food and staff. Highly recommend!!! The appetizers were delicious and the key lime pie is to die for.

Our first stop from the airport for the much talked about Tuna Nacho's....and they did not disappoint! It is very very very hard for me not to order a fish sandwich when I see one on the menu, but I figured this asian spicy creation sounded just tempting enough. It was fantastic! Cold tender pieces of Ahi tuna, with a great seaweed salad over three fried wonton wrappers all covered in a wasabi and sesame aioli. Perfection! Also tried the Key West Lager for the first time upon the recommendation of our great waitress and we were hooked! Had at least one a day the whole vacation! Also loved the atmosphere of the open deck right in the mangroves!

The first Keylime pie I tried while on my keys weekend was at the Island Grill. This was a great find for waterfront dining accessible by either car or boat. This key lime pie was a great reminder of how to end a meal in the Florida Keys! It was indeed fresh by the crunch of the traditional thin graham crust. The filling itself was rich and tart and perfect to share with someone. It was traditional in every sense of the word.

We've been here many times since my initial review. Still can't beat the waterside location, and they've spruced the place up a bit in recent months, changing up the main dining and bar area. However, the service is still spotty. The waitstaff is generally really nice, but there tend to be a lot of mistakes/forgotten items. This past visit, they forgot our appetizer, and the BF's dad's entree never came out. We finally flagged the waitress down awhile later, and she re-ordered the entree, no charge, which was nice. All in all, worth a visit, but there may be a few hiccups in your experience. Oh - the mahi reuben is OUTSTANDING. One of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted, hands down. Caesar salad on the other hand, is just eh. Lettuce was a little wilty and there was nothing unique about it. It is the Keys after all, so retain your laid back attitude and you'll be just fine. :)

This is exactly what we were looking for and hoping for when we drove down to the Keys. On the water, casual, fresh food and friendly wait staff. Moderate prices (except that my rum runners were $10, which I find to be more like South Beach daytime prices). I'll stop by here again to get that 'Florida Keys feeling' out of lunch and drinks!

The food was ok, service is friendly and helpful and it is on the water. I wasn't too thrilled with the calamari but the scallops we good and I did take a key lime pie home! =) Very good! Not too sweet not too tart and the crust was just right. Also, it comes out cheaper to buy the whole pie for $16 than a slice for $6 because you will definitely want more than just one slice.

Food was good...at first. Got the famous tuna nachos, took two bites and asked for more of the (dark, not wasabi) sauce that goes on them. The waitress brought it and I drizzled it all over the nachos... On my next bite I discovered that she had brought me balsamic vinegar salad dressing. When I pointed this out, she rolled her eyes and seemed very upset with me that she OR someone the kitchen had made this mistake. I asked if I could get a new order that didn't have balsamic dressing all over them and she again rolled her eyes, sighed and said "maybe, let me ask"...maybe? I ended up telling her just to forget it. And guess what??? ...she was KIND enough to only charger us half of the nachos that I only ate two bites of. What a shame! I will never go back nor would I recommend this restaurant. Restaurants like this are a dime a dozen... You can't behave this way and continue to get my business. Next time I'll go to Tasters, Ziggie and Mad Dogs, Green Turtle Inn or Lorelei. (They never disappoint)

My wife and I ate lunch here, a very casual waterfront establishment. The back beach area is a great place to sit and enjoy the scenery of the keys. The food was just average. I had the mahi reuben, the fish was dry (amazingly, because mahi is never dry), my wife had the jerk chicke, very moist and flavorful. Atmosphere would get a 5, food gets the 3 star.

Sort of the tropical-island-themed seafood version of a greasy spoon diner. Nice setting. Servers are a little too brusque.

This is a cute place, very "Florida Keys", which means it's a little edgy and divey. I like that. Nothin' fancy here. Lots of wood and water views and a big deck and boats. We chose to eat inside because there was yet another Jimmy Buffet impersonator with a sailor hat, a gee-tar and an extremely loud and terrible sound system. Nothing against Jimmy Buffet wanna-be's in sailor hats, but if you're going to play Cheeseburger in Paradise (again), then try to make it sound as pretty as the view, OK? We ordered cheeseburgers (of course!), Sam Adams (wicked pissah!) and sweet potato fries (yay!). The burgers were huge, cooked just right, the fries were crisp and yummy. After a long drive through the Keys researching places to have our wedding, this was the perfect spot for our lunch before our return home to Broward. I noticed some folks here mentioned the edgy servers. Wellllll, our server looked pretty darned familiar to me. It occurred to me shortly after I left exactly who she was.....the meanest chick in my dirty old hometown just south of Boston. She was literally a pit bull 20 years ago, only with big, frosted 80's hair. But she was nice enough this time. Hope she didn't spit in my burger. Small world.....

More than one of us had heard good things about Island Grill, so we choose to come here for dinner our first night. As others have mention it is easy to miss since its under the bridge and the Hog Heaven sign is quiet distracting .... Not much to look at from the outside, but the views of the water and mangroves are quiet nice. We sat on the outside covered deck and ordered drinks. I should have ordered beer, but I was on a margarita kick that day, but it was disappointing ... standard mix. The food was delicious. I had the low country shrimp & grits. It was huge, definitely enough for two people to share. I've had shrimp & grits in a lot of places and this ranks with the best. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing, but leaves a little to be desired compared with others. However, food is most certainly recommended.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, OR IT WILL COST YOU! Oh how I wanted to love this place. On the water, rude hostess, seemed like it had character. I was right.....it was just bad character. Our group sat down and ordered some beers. About ten minutes later, they bring out beer, in half pint cups. Imagine an orange juice glass of beer. You know, one of those tiny ones. Anyhow, beer is beer, so we drank it. After looking at the menu, I remained hopeful. We were all on vacation, so we decided that healthy meals were not required. We started with the graham cracker crusted calamari. What we got were paper thin pieces of what appeared to be squid jerky, covered in a ridiculous amount of stale batter. It was pretty horrible for $12.95. The main courses sounded good, but after the calamari disappointed, I knew it was going to be a rough dinner. The girl ordered cracked conch, and I had tater chip fish. The waiter described it as "really good" maybe he even said awesome. Either way, he gave it a high recommendation. When it got to the table, it looked like something out of an old folks home. There was a pathetic side of steamed broccoli, some previously frozen sweet potato fries, and a sorry ass piece of grouper that looked like it had been steamed. On top of the fish? Two ruffles potato chips (the fish on the menu was described as "home made potato chip crusted, then baked to a crisp"). The cracked conch was not tender at all. In fact, it was extremely tough. It was also served with frozen french fries. This wouldn't have been so horrible if it was some divey place near a gas station in the keys. However, once the bill came, I felt like I had been raped. Each entree was $29.00. A disappointing dinner for 4? $150.00 plus tip. Slow service, crappy food, no ambiance. AVOID THE ISLAND GRILL! For that price, get a far superior meal at The Atlantic's Edge at Cheeca Lodge, Ziggie and Mad Dogs, or Mile Marker 88.

We had sweet tea and sandwiches, sitting out on the covered dock. The aforementioned Jimmy Buffett impersonator wasn't so good, but it was otherwise a nice location to look out on the water. The food was OK. Not great, not bad, but combined with the nice location (both on the water and in terms of its location in the Keys) it's worth a visit if it's mealtime. Incidentally, the waitress messed up my wife's order and added sweet potato fries, which she never mentioned and didn't want. My wife pointed this out and we were told that we could have 'em anyway...and then we were billed for them. Not cool.

  • Christine S.

The tuna nachos sounded amazing. But THEY ARE NOT NACHOS. They are a fried tortas with seaweed and ahi sashimi on top drizzled with greasy sauce. Nachos are corn chips with the works, maybe some cooked tuna fish and salsa i would think. Horribly disappointing.

We went to the island grill for a mid-afternoon lunch while in the keys. We ordered buffalo shrimp, fish tacos and a plate of French fries. The shrimp had a spicy Thai seasoning and the fish was fresh. Overall the atmosphere was good and was food was average.

You know a place is good when JL. A writes more than three lines for it! :) Located right by the bridge...or under it, you might miss it while being distracted by the Hog Heaven billboard...but you know it's good when the trucks and cars are all lined up along the highway at dangerous tipping angles! My friend simply did as the locals did and parked at a random spot he could fit in! Walking in on a Saturday night, there was a customer appreciation buffet dinner going out at the back by the beach...the wait staff allowed us to go check it out before deciding. $15 for snow crab, Alaskan crab, shrimp and what nots. I would have been sold...if only it wasn't windy and cold..and the tent outside looked like it was pre-Bingo night at the local aging community center. We opted to sit inside where it was windless and ordered from the regular menu. Conch soup - tomato-based. we were expecting clam chowder style. Bf said it was good, I ain't no fan of conch. Stone Crab (1 lb) for $28ish - YUMMY! 8 claws, pre-broken. Came with tools to further break it down. Crab cakes - OMG! It wasn't that breadcrumb filled crap, it was REAL CRAB! ( couldn't help the pun there!) If you don't want to get your hands dirty for crab, this is the dish to order. 2 big thick patties. Blackened Hog Fish with some Gorgonzola cheese with balsamic reduction - DELISH! who would have thought to put cheese on fish! There were probably 5 fillets? No room for dessert at this point...;/ Service was good, our waitress was the typical blonde, tanned and laid-back lady who took the liberty to keep our main entrees warm while we worked through our stone crabs! :) Tip-bits: If you are going South, it's on the L, after the bridge. If you are going North, it's on the R, before the bridge. Look out for the hog Heaven billboard, then you will see Island Grill Call for special events?

My friends and I ate at the Island Grill 2 wks ago, twice in one weekend, thats how exceptional it is. We were on our way to Key West for Fantasy fest. I highly recommend this as a good midway stop either to or from your journey to Key West from Ft. lauderdale. My favorite dish on the menu is the Tuna Nachos, sounds wierd but tastes delish. I had them once before and was thinking about them for 2 weeks prior to my trip. You get 3 large wontons fried then topped off with sea weed and ahi tuna with special sweet soy sauce and other tastey flavors and sesame seeds. Awesome presentation, like dining at the Four Seasons with a keywest flare. Do not leave without trying. The other dish i recommend is the deep fried cheese cake which the restaurant has won awards for. It was cheese cake dipped in batter deep friend then served with chocolate, caramel syrups, whipped cream and ice cream, extremely delectable, do not leave without trying and save room for it. I haven't even mentioned the nice ambiance and view right next to the water and huge shadey trees-which make you feel sooo relaxed as you drink your sangria and listen to live music. If the restaurant has a wait, I recommend visiting the inside bar to have a drink and chatting up the pleasant bar tenders who make great recommendations of menu items. They are the only reason i knew to try the cheesecake.

i really liked this place.. the waitresses are a bit tough, at first, but warm up quickly enough with a smile and nice manners.. i ordered the sushi-grade tuna sandwich with a side of french fries and a pickle. My sandwich came out divine which i asked for very rare and it was very mouth-wateringly good. the fries were coated with a very light cheese topping that was baked on top just to give it an added salty flavor.. I asked for a slop of mayo on the side (but of course) and they were happy to oblige... the outdoor feel with being right next to the water in an open gazebo added extra charm on a bright sunny day. food came out quickly too. a good choice... when in the hood.

  • Lilah R.

The food is mediocre. The staff is terrible. The "seafood nachos" are actually seafood-cheese chowder served with chips. The staff showed absolutely no interest in helping us get anything beginning with water. My "steak sandwich" literally had giant holes in it and the bread was covered in blackened bits of other food from the grill (or the press). After my waiter disappeared I tried to politely catch the attention of anyone who would help me locate hot sauce (to try to give the seafood chowder some flavor) but no one was interested. Don't waste your money.

Fucking AMAZING! Island Grill is a place that we stumbled upon after a weekend of Key West debauchery- and what a stumble it was. All I have to say is TUNA NACHOS, TUNA FLASH FRIED ROLL. You have to order BOTH and order it twice, or three times or even four. The outdoor waterfront dock/deck patio is in a beautiful and perfect mangrove inlet. There was of course, the obligatory Jimmy Buffet-esque live guitar singer trio to entertain and the service was friendly and straight forward. This place is totally worth the drive. Make a trip out of it- you won't be disappointed. Seriously. I promise. Oh and did I mention to order the Tuna Nachos and the Tuna Roll?

Based on Yelp members' reviews, we ventured out in the rain to the Island Grill. At 9 PM, the place was packed, but there were seats at the bar. Gina the bartender was rushed, but very friendly. We split the smoked fish dip which was light, flavorful, and just spicy enough. It was attractively plated, too. I ordered the tater-crusted fish and it was amazing. Perfect combo of fresh mild fish, crunchy/salty crust and creamy seasoning. Homemade coleslaw wasn't overdressed and the bits of fresh pineapple were refreshing. My husband ordered one of the specials- tempura hogfish with mango chutney. It was well prepared, but paled in comparison to my entree. The keylime pie is made on-site and worth the calories. Big enough to share after a large meal. We saw several other dishes make their way around the place and portions were generous and attractive. We plan on going back for lunch before we head back home.

**3.5 STARS** It's hard for me to give either a super rating or bad rating as my breakfast burrito was AMAZING but tasting my BF's omelet was boooooring... So I'll meet them in the middle. A cute place for breakfast. My advice to you is avoid the breakfast buffet (lame stuff. typical eggs, sausage, etc) and go for the breakfast burrito. Seriously this thing was amazing. Ask for extra sauce because that just makes it much more bueno. The home fries were also pretty delicious as well (better than ones at Bob's Bunz). I also recommend avoiding the passion fruit iced tea as it was nothing special. We sat outside and experienced great service. My only gripe is that there's a lot of bugs so be prepared for that. They also have a boat dock.

On the water so easy to pull up on the boat. Food was good. Had dinner, whole hog snapper deep fried with chili sauce. It was great. Service was good. Bobby took good care of us. Fritters were average.

i stopped for dinner here with my girl on our way back to miami. i found island grill on yelp, so i decided to check it out after the great reviews. like michelle says, this place looks like its staged for a movie .. its by the water, on a dock ... you only expect a crocodile to join you for dinner. i got a guinness and we shared the deep fried seafood platter for two. our waitress was really nice and attentive. she even came by to apologize because they had ran out of blue crab for our platter .... so instead we got stone crabs. sweeeeeet. the crabcakes were delicious. the friend shrimp too. the mahi. the location is nice. easy to miss cause they are right off a bridge. all the way at the end... lovely enchanted spot.

I love the Island Grill. You can access it by boat or car. We love to take our boat there for lunch. The absolute best thing on the menu (IMHO) is the Tuna Nachos. Perfectly seared ahi tuna on crisp wontons, a layer of sesame seaweed salad on top of the wontons. Don't get turned off by the "sesame seaweed salad" . If you've never had it you'll love it. Goes great with these tuna nachos. This is topped with a wasabi sauce, sesame seeds, soy sauce, sriracha and scallions. I will definitely get this again, very refreshing and light. One last thing to add....they have manatees that come in by the dock. We were lucky enough to see a baby that came in and entertained all of us for about 20 mins. These creatures are beautiful, they breathe air and come to the surface every 3-4 mins. They live in the shallow waters around 4-6ft.. The adults are around 10ft. long and can get up to 1200lbs. The waitresses are very knowledgeable and answered all our questions about the manatees. They pour fresh water from pitchers into their mouth which they love. It's quite a thing to see for adults and kids. Anyway, give this place a try, great food, service and ambiance.

I thought the food was pretty good, I ordered a blackened mahi sandwich and enjoyed it, my companion ordered a Cuban sandwich which she very much enjoyed. Downfall, I don't think we saw the server once after we ordered (food was delivered by another person), until we asked for the bill. It was hot, I could've used more than one beverage...

I come here everytime I have to work in Islamarada, Everything on the menu is solid and creative to the point where it can suit about everyone, presentation is also really good if your into that thing. Nice staff. They just expanded and have double the seating outside which is nice. I have only been here for lunch not sure about nightlife but if i lived in the area it looks like a nice place to have a few drinks at night. their desserts are pretty good too, fried cheese cake, NOM NOM NOM NOM...

Love this place ...ordered the crispy whole yellowtail snapper with thai sweet chili sauce and toasted coconut and was not disappointed.....we also ordered a steak, which the waitress said was good, but offered us a different one which she felt was much better, and it was excellent.......ended the night listening to the live music, a great ending to a beautiful day!

This was my fourth visit to the Island Grill, my first for dinner. We sat in the Bar area to avoid the Caribbean keyboard player in the dining room and were greeted promptly. Read over the inspired specials list but opted for appetizers and fish sandwiches. The conch fritters were unusually gummy but the shrimp special and soup were good. This is when the wheels fall off the cart. Our server never came back to check on us until after entrees were served, and the drinks we ordered didn't show up until the table had been cleared. If you are going to charge a premium for food and drinks (some $29 entrees on the menu and 12oz drinks were not cheap) I expect my tee-shirted server to make a little bit more of an effort. So overall - food was pretty good but expensive. Atmosphere is good, they keep the place in good shape and clean. Service is questionable from the stereotypical 'surly' hostess to the pitiful effort of what appeared to be a seasoned server.

  • Cristy M.

This restaurant was amazing they had a great selection of appetizers the Tuna Nachos and the Tater Blue Cheese Fondue was amazing. We went again the next day for brunch. The lobster benedict was decent, and the stuffed french toast was wonderful!

  • Barbara F.

We were told no table near window available and would have to sit at a bar type table facing the back of bartender. We decided to have a drink in bar and wait for table with chairs. 2 minutes later before we got our drinks the hostess was back with a table ready. Humm.... Nachos with a seafood cheese sauce sounded great but basically it was fishy frozen tasting bit of shrimp, baby scallops and jalapeños in a horrible pasty yellow looking sauce. Tasted like jar cheese. This place needs an uplift.. They need new blood and new menu.

  • Dawn A.

Have the tuna tacos. They were excellent although you only get 2 to a plate. (there were 3 of us eating). We also tried the tuna nachos but they were not outstanding. Nice place for kids to roam and to relax. We were on our way to Key West so it is always a nice stopping point on the trip.

the locals know this place is the place for casual dining in the Upper Keys. Neat atmosphere, competent staff, solid food. the mahi ruben is a local favorite, but the rest of the menu offers great choices - nicoise salad is very well done for example. the conch sandwich is decent, but IMHO conch is best in corn fritters due to texture. solid 4 stars possibly 5.

Friends of ours, who live in the Keys, brought us here a couple of years ago. When we first started coming the food was great. Unfortunately, the food has slid consistently downhill since our first visit. This past weekend we went for a late lunch. The place wasn't really crowded by the time we got there. We ate at the beach area which has improved markedly since the last time I was there. It was really nice with organized places to sit and a nice table/bar built into one of the trees. The last time we tried to eat at the beach it was a mess with tables and chairs strewn everywhere and disorganized service. There were several locals who canoed/kayaked to the beach for lunch, what a great way to get to your local restaurant. Unfortunately the food was worse than the last time we were here. My wife had a spinach salad with scallops. The scallops were almost raw and the salad was nothing to write home about. I had the fish sandwich which was a piece of breaded fried fish slapped on a cold cheep hamburger bun. Probably the worst fish sandwich I have had in the Keys in the last 20 years. My son had the pasta with seafood. It was a soup of some kind of white sauce with huge hunks of dolphin and a few shrimp swimming in it. And to top it all off the wine they were pouring, while pretty good for a Keys location, was probably the smallest demitasse cup of wine I have ever been served. I know I was sitting outside eating a fish sandwich in the Keys and I should have been drinking a beer, maybe they were punishing me for ordering wine by making me look like a girlie man? I would suggest beer and appetizers on the beach here and go elsewhere for dinner/lunch.

  • Brad R.

It was close to the hotel. It had a great selection but then it went downhill after that. On the menu you have your meals then if you want your meal grilled it's an additional fee, if you want a side it's an additional fee. So a $10 meal turned into a $15 meal with all the add ons. My fish was burnt and the fries were like chewing through granite. My fiancés bread fro her meal was stale.

hopped in the car one day in ft. lauderdale and took a longer-than-expected drive down towards the keys. after a few hours it was hard to distinguish the rumble coming from the engine from the rumble coming from my tummy. island grill came into view as we drove over a bridge and had advertised itself in a local guidebook as "the best" for oceanside dining. island grill has a caribbean feel with a large, covered patio (deck? porch? it's big), bright colors, and the option to dine indoors. the interior dining area is a bit crowded - i had trouble getting into my seat at a bar-side high-top with people at the table behind me. you are, indeed, right on the water so there's some nice scenery to check out while you eat - provided you're not so hungry that you just faceplant into your plate. our bartender/waitress was at the table quickly to get us settled and take drink orders. the white sangria ($15, by the pitcher only) was excellent and refreshing on a 90 degree afternoon. the fish tacos ($9 for two) and a split plate of sweet potato fries ($4) was plenty for lunch. the tacos had a good amount of blackened mahi mahi (fish is catch of the day and can also be fried or grilled) with a fresh pico de gallo, avocado, a chipotle paste and just a little cabbage and sour cream. they really hit the spot. the sweet potato fries were obviously freshly cut. everything was made and cooked to order so it was fresh and tasty. though island grill touts their key lime pie as "world famous" i went with the fried cheesecake ($7) for dessert. i will never wonder if i should have gotten the pie. never.

We hit this casual and fun restaurant for a weekday breakfast and fell promptly in love with it. Wide selection of traditional breakfast fare and more interesting choices. The stuffed french toast is a real specialty and I had fried fish and eggs that could have easily fed two adults. The staff were just wonderful, giving us travel tips and chatting and always keeping coffee mugs full. I'd love to go back and try it out for dinner sometime. When we drove by in the evening their outdoor seating and outdoor bar were positively hopping! Head here and you'll feel like a real local in-the-know!

When the waitress asked how the tuna nachos were, I told her that we were gonna need a room. OMG!! They are called nachos - much more of a Japanese sushi masterpiece. On the other hand, the seafood nachos really are like nachos - tasty but not wow.

If it were possible to give them negative stars it would be appropriate. We called ahead that morning before going because we had a party of 14! We were told they would tell them we were going to be there at 730.... Even being 25 min early we waited for an hr & still not all of us were seated. The bar tender while waiting ignored a couple of us twice, the hostess was rude. A party of 9 ppl that were our friends showed up with no notification and were seated within 15 mins. We ended up not even eating dinner just ordered 3 kids meals ( kids starving) and an appetizer that took 45 mins to get !!!! And after speaking to the manager and the server about us being gravely disappointed we were told it was impossible to accommodate 14 ppl in the keys on fri night!!!! Funny I have been going to the keys for years and never had a problem at any other place......and the food that we did get was fast food worthy

I just had the most horrendous experience, so terrible that I actually created a yelp account to share with you all. My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way to Hawks Cay. We sat in the bar area and ordered drinks and an app, it was a good thing we ordered the app with the drinks bc no one paid any attention to us for a good 20 minutes. Then we finally had to flag down a waitress that wasn't ours because we were getting hungry. She couldn't help my boyfriend choose between 2 dishes bc it was her first day, so he just went with his first choice - blackened mahi tacos...I ordered a mahi Reuben blackened. Not only did our lunches take 30 minutes to come out, after 25 mins we went out to the dock to walk around for a bit. Three minutes later when we returned to our seats our half full cocktails were cleared and there were already new people there. Literally the only thing they did quickly was clearing our table, which was odd bc the place was full of unbussed tables. After we told the people we were sitting there they left, and our original server magically reappeared and offered to make us new drinks. So we took a sip of our new drinks and saw our lunches ready in the kitchen window, thinking the experience had been saved. Boy were we wrong!! My boyfriend's blackened mahi tacos came out as soggy, flavorless, non-blackened CHICKEN tacos, and my blackened mahi Reuben came out as bland, non-blackened mahi on Texas toast with a teaspoon of coleslaw on top. Usually it's one person to blame when something goes wrong at a restaurant, but in the case of Island Grill, every staff member we encountered contributed to an all-over terrible experience and disappointing start to our vacation.

Great seafood and service. We had the conch fritters (the chipoltre sauce was killer) and we split the maui maui and yellow fin sandwhiches. Get the sweet potato fries!

It doesn't get any better than this in Islamorada, or for that matter, anywhere. We found this place two days into our week long vacation and we saw no point in going anywhere else! The tuna nachos were delicious and just fun! The service is absolutely charming! Older women who seem like they don't give a damn but then they turn out very efficient service! They know their food as well. We brought in some fish we caught to have prepared and the waitstaff was able to explain different options on how to have the kitchen prepare it. It took us a few days to realize they did BREAKFAST too! Whoa, what a surprise. The breakfasts were large, fresh, delicious! It is a very casual place that is open to the outdoors and the water view (it's right on the dock) is so relaxing. It was exactly what I was looking for in a restaurant in Islamorada!!

The atmosphere here is great. Come by boat, car or motorcycle. Thirsty Thursday are a good excuse to party with friends without having to wait for the weekend. My fiancee says they have the best Cheese Steak sandwich around. I cannot get past the seared Ahi Tuna w/ seaweed salad and their fresh oysters...they are out of this world!!!!

Great ocean view setting. Great meal. Always hear good things about this place. Give this place a try. Can be difficult to get a table during busy season.

Easy to miss from the road, and not much to look at from the outside, but wow, what a great view once you sit down. Food is excellent, too. I had conch chowder and blackened fish tacos. Fish was extremely fresh, as you would expect, since looking down our booth in the bar, we could see lots of fish swimming below in the clear water. Service was efficient. Barmaid/waitress was no-nonsense, no happy talk, no jabby-jabby. Would love to go back often if it wasn't in the middle of frigging nowhere!

The tuna nachos are outstanding and worth the visit alone.

Herb encrusted grouper was the special and highly recommended. Staff friendly and pleasant, we ate on the porch overlooking the water. Portions were generous and nicely presented; none of us were able to finish our meals.

Best restaurant in Islamorada!! Not the fanciest but the best. To be able to sit on a waterway, feel the breezes and eat good food is what I hoped for when I went to the Keys. The spinach salad I had was easily made vegetarian by having the kitchen leave off the warm bacon dressing. My dining partner had the Tuna Nachos and the catch of the day sandwich. I do believe that he will forever smile when he talks about the nachos!! I tried the accompaning seaweed salad- it was great! The keylime pie was okay but better can be found at Mrs. Mac's a few miles north.

Loved it! My husband and I ordered tuna "nacho" and a cup of conch chowder for appetizer and crispy whole snapper for two (I forget the exact wording, but it's close enough) for entree. Tuna "nacho" is actually not like nacho at all, more like tuna tartare with seaweed salad and wonton chips. Very good! Big portion for an appetizer too. Conch chowder was average, not much conch meat in there. Loved their crispy snapper, it comes drizzled with some sort of Thai chili sauce. I thought it was perfectly cooked, my husband thought it was slightly overcooked but still good. We had a blast picking it apart, taking little bits of meat off from the head, the tail, etc. Nice outdoor setting by the water, good service. A local told us they had the "best bar in the Keys" but since I'm not a drinker I can't verify that statement. Anyway we had a great dinner here and would return in a heartbeat.

Thought we would try this place because of the high rating on yelp. Went for lunch. Couple of problems..No lunch menu, so three sandwiches, and the (small & overdone ) conch fritters ran about $80. Also, the smoking at the bar right in the dining area didn't help. Noticed that one reviewer liked the limited "mangrove" view, but for the money, I'd have to agree with another reviewer who suggested the Atlantic Edge in Cheeca Lodge just a few minutes away with beautiful ocean views, palm trees, and at similar cost.

One of the few cold nights in the area so we huddled inside. Super friendly service and surpaiskngly good food. Recommend spicy tuna roll (it's big), the ribs, and the grouper.

Had an amazing lunch today at this place! The vibe is distinctly "Keys" and very casual. The staff was incredibly friendly, especially our waitress Susie. She couldn't have been friendlier or warmer. I'd go back just to have her as a waitress. Highlights of the meal included: tuna nachos, crispy fish sandwich and the conch chowder.

Setting is great but the food is average at best. Those flash fried tuna rolls were tasty but there was too much mushy rice involved which took over the tuna. Crab cakes were a bit fishy. And the Ceasar salad was wilted. Meh.....

This restaurant has a lovely deck on the bay. We were a party of two and had grilled mahi-mahi, caesar salad, and the house organic greens salad. Both salads were delicious. One of us enjoyed the mahi but the other thought it wasn't firm enough. The service was good. The key lime pie was excellent - not too sweet and with wonderful little bits of zest in it. The fried cheesecake was heavenly and rich.

We were happy with our lunch the food was good. The key lime pie was not good at all. I did not think you could screw that up. It had a weird flavor that maybe came from the crust...not sure. The service was TERRIBLE! Our waitress's name was Tikie and she was also tending bar so she did not care about our table at all. She never came to give us refills we had to get some ourselves. She was not friendly at all and acted annoyed at taking our orders. We waited and waited for her to take our check and she never came. Finally we had to ask 2 different waitresses to get her to take our check. Our feelings were reflected in the tip. If you go don't sit in the bartenders section!

The Island grill is great for families and big groups. I went with my daughter and we ordered a bunch of appetizers. We had Ahi Tuna (excellent), Pot Stickers (again excellent), BBQ shrimp and bacon (okay, the sauce was a little bit too strong), soft-shell crab (good), and Lo Mein (very good, but a little bit dry). We sat outside and there were a ton of little biting gnats, so the outside seating is beautiful, but painful. We had a beautiful view of a still canal and the mangroves. It was cute. The food was overall pretty good. I would recommend this place.

We came here for dinner on New Year's Day and it was great, save the groanings and inattentiveness accompanying the staff's hangover. The food was a nice change from the typical seafood-centric island fare. We started with an asian-style nacho plate that had tuna, crisp wonton chips and some siracha-like hot sauce. It was amazing and refreshing. Refreshed, we succumbed to the fried fish plate for 2. That was even better. The atmosphere was great and the food was great too. Better than most of the food we had down there in terms of quality. We will definitely return.
