Great little restaurant! Just stopped by for a quick bite and was surprised by the quality of food. The cuban rap was exceptionally good. The service was good too. I recommend this restaurant if you want some Good quick cuban food.

Best Cuban food around. We had the pork and the Palimelia steak . The hot Cuban bread was the best ever . .

Awesome food ... Fried pork chunks, black beans and rice and sweet plantains ... Amazing !! Cheap and big portions!

Poor service. Soup was cold, sandwich took forever. I've eaten at a lot of Cuban places and this was probably the most underwhelming Cuban sandwich I've ever had. Prices aren't bad at all and the view is nice of the harbor. Check out the manatees and Pelicans off the dock, but you may want to drive on to the next Cuban restaurant.

On first impression the owners were very nice and employees very attentive. We never emptied our water glass. After ordering our food that's were everything went bad. The food was bland and over cooked my husband ordered the seafood platter and I got the fried pork chunks. Also the entire time we were there the owners and some of the employees argued right next to our table extremely loud. This meal was also not cheap, Very bad experience will not be returning. There are far to many great places to go then to try this. Not a good representation of Cuban cuisine.

It is hard to find decent food in Islamorda. This place is located right before Anne's Beach on the Altantic side. They do deliver if you stay within the area.

Went for take out. The first step I walked into the restaurant was getting this indifferent attitude like 'what are you doing here?' Well, I tried the breaded chicken with beans & rice with sauté vege. Veges are basically what you can find in the frozen aisle in grocery store and the beans taste strange. I never taste anything like this. Chicken was a total let down. Need I say more?

Brought our catch-9.95 to cook per person, with 2 sides, and let's face it, whoever is in the kitchen cooking, knows what they are doing! Had the Mahi blackened and was cooked perfectly...arrived late and was welcomed...a taste treat...they know how to cook...

Great Cuban wraps. We got it to go so I can't comment on the service. I am in the area with a group of people who have been working here since January. They know all the great places to eat in the Keys and this is one of them.

If you're looking for decent food on the Lower Matecumbe Key, you might want to keep on driving down to Marathon. This food is real basic and will fill you up--but it's really thrown together without much care. Our fried yucca apparently didn't spent enough time in the fryer after coming out of the freezer, as it was still cold inside.

Food had great flavor. Portions were generous.

Ordered takeout from here late on a Saturday night as it was the closest thing to where we were staying. I guess sometimes they deliver a short distance, but not on this night. Honestly, we weren't expecting much, but we were actually very surprised. Thought the food was very flavorful, and portions were generous. My husband, to my shock, ordered a pizza, which was loaded with toppings and was like deep dish in style. It was very tastey! Chicken sandwich was pounded thin, almost two portions worth. It was juicy, very flavorful. Pork, rice and beans, and plantains were great too. Only thing disappointing were the vegetables.

The food is good, but the service is bad. We went when there is hardly anyone, still had to wait a long time for service, and even longer for food. The food is hit or miss. We ordered a pizza and a dolphin burger. The pizza was nothing special, just exotic ingredients on a pizza - imagine a fishy-smelling pizza. The dolphin burger, which is made of mahi mahi, is suculent and good. If you want a budget diner in the keys, come here for the dolphin burger.

Food: 4 Atmosphere: 2 Service: 4 Good food, simple restaurant, quick friendly service. Nice place to get some Cuban food. Grouper Cesar salad was great. Conch chowder was very tasty and ice cream made the meal great.

Why I didn't go another few miles to a better place is beyond me but we did eat here. Very slow service, small portions, and far away from the waterview other places have around there.

  • Nansi C.

I like this restaurant. It's a local place that can get busy. The service could be friendly but I didn't go there to make friends. I think the food tastes like home made. The chicken cutlet is the largest that I ever been serviced.

  • Joel H.

Great place to take your catch. The beer batter and blackened preparations were great and the fried sweet plantains and Moro were great sides

  • Danika A.

Decent food at a reasonable price. Got the grouper salad. The fish itself was good, but the salad was pretty much as expected. They seemed to have a good selection of Cuban food for those looking for Cuban food on the long drive to Key West from Miami.

Fly on the lettuce in my wife's salad and a hair in my brother in law's sandwich. Food is prepared in a flavorful manner but the wait staff is aloof and does not even know how to greet patrons. Here is a rule we live by, if they can't get it right when you walk through the door, how do expect the rest of the meal to go. This time we ignored this rule........ they did comp the entire meal

Don't be fooled by the bad reviews listed on this site. Just came back from the keys this weekend and stop at this restaurant two times! On the way south and coming back home. That's how good the food was!! Okay must try the crack conch!! Delicious!!! Before that had me some conch fritters which were outstanding!! Food was nice and hot and the seafood taste fresh! My friends order the Cuban style pizza with everything and palomilla steak with black beans and rice. I tried a little bit of everything and all was very tasty!! For dessert you must try the mango pie!! OMG!! That's the closest thing to heaven!! Loved it! Had to order an additional slice that's how good it is. You must like mango. For those that don't you can try a variety of icecream they have on a cone or just a scoop. My friend had the cookies and cream icecream and was awesome! Without the cold stone pricing! Lol Service was good and food came out in a timely manner. As you can see I have no complaints on this place! Had a great overall experience and to top it off the price is very reasonable!! Not like other restaurants down in the keys that have ridiculous pricing! Highly recommend this joint in the middle of the keys. Well worth the pit stop before headed down to key west!! You won't be sorry! I most defiantly will go back every time I go down to the keys. Especially for that crack conch and mango pie!

Coffee! Delicious, just like my in-laws. Black Beans, chicken breast and palomilla steak were tender a nice flavor. Nice to see our representation well done. Will definitely be back! P. S.: owners we would like to see "tostadas o pan tostado and yucca with mojo. Thanks

I should have known when we parked and there were old beer bottles and Coke cans laying around the parking lot and the sign above the door was for an old restaurant venture. But even when my wife tried to drag me away, I insisted that we at least try this place for lunch. I wished we hadn't. There was only one other couple seated when we arrived at 12:15 noon. Our waitress, dressed in sweatpants gave us menus and walked away. I had Cuban sandwich which was lunchmeat slices on bread that was fresh several days ago. The black beans were out of a can. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich which inexplicably was so greasy that it soaked the bottom of the bun. The only reason I gave it one star was because the conch fritters were pretty good as a starter.

Woohoo!!!! A good and authentic Cuban Restaurant in Key Largo!!! Awwe man was I excited when I saw them. Habanos is a newer restaurant, open for 5 months, in an older building. They say Ocean Front because you can see the ocean from the dining room but you aren't really ocean front. I think it's just a gimmick to get you ion here, but trust me they need no gimmick to keep you! How I love me some "soul food". We ordered bistek empanizado and langosta enchilado (breaded steak and lobster creole). By golly it was delicious! Just like grandma's. They have all the traditional Cuban plates and have added a few of their own like Cuban Seafood Pizza. I can say with all confidence that I will come back to Habanos every time I come to Key Largo! And I'm bringing the fam!!!

Stop here on the way to Key West. Prices are reasonable, and portions are huge. Definitely recommend the cuban burgers - but when they say they're kind of small, one will be plenty... don't order two. The steak with chimichurri is outstanding.

  • Ryan H.

Good authentic Cuban food, and a good mix of our american favorites. The Yuca appetizer is out-effin'-standing!... get it... you won't be sorry... trust me.

I was excited to see this restaurant open near our timeshare...until we went there. Waitress was extremely rude, poor service, argued with us when we said we got the wrong meal, and bad food on top of it. Very disappointed. And claim they are "waterfront" but no outside dining.

    (1)
  • Drew D.

Me and my wife almost went to a different restaurant after pulling in the parking lot because the outside of the building doesn't look appetizing at all. DO NOT LET THIS STOP YOU! Once inside, the restaurant is super clean and has a nice casual feel. As stated before the fried yuca is amazing, if you never tried it, its a must! I had the fried pork chucks and my wife had the grilled chicken. The portions are huge and the price is very resonable, cheapest meal we had in the Keys and probably the best. Give it a try!

    (5)
  • Peggy a.

Pleasantly surprised, this very casual waterfront restaurant is VERY clean, attentive service and good Latin food. The blackened Dolphin is a must! Children's palomilla steak was seasoned to perfection. Will definitely return!!! Staff make this restaurant very warm and inviting.

Just ate here for the first time. EXCELLENT food and service. I had the roast pork and my wife had the pepper steak. Both dishes were great. The homemade Key Lime pie was the perfect ending. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful meal. Service was great, view was tremendous and the food superb. Leslie had the churrasco steak very rare the way she likes it and I had the blackened scallops which were perfectly grilled. Am placing this on my list as another "find" in the Upper Keys.

We were looking for good, authentic Cuban food and we found it. The Cuban sandwich, tostones, maduros and morro were all fantastic. Servers were also friendly and attentive. Nice view out of the marina.

Very good, only Cuban restaurant I know in the Islamorada area, showed up late last night to have some cafe con leche

We just had the grouper sandwich and the hogfish snapper sandwich. The fish was excellent, fresh and cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend the fresh fish.

  • Garrett K.

This is a very strange place to eat. When I ate here there was no music playing or background noise whatsoever except for the screaming/arguing happening in the kitchen between the service staff. Also service was extremely slow. The table next to us got up and left. I had the medianoche, croquetas, and plantains. All was pretty good though the croquetas could have been a bit hotter. Also the men's bathroom is absolutely disgusting (can't speak for the women's).

  • Steven K.

The Cuban food here is outstanding. If you're looking for a specific recommendation, try the black bean soup, vaca frita, maduros, and moro. Mango pie, with your choice of coffee, for dessert. You can thank me later. Locals told me that Habano's has the best burger in the Keys. Maybe so, but I'll never know simply because the Cuban staples were so good. Service was excellent, and the staff get extra points for not laughing at my miserable college Spanish.

Strawberry daiquiries are delishes, perfect amount of alcohol. My shredded meat , rice and beans were all so flavorful and juicy. Love this place, wish i had it back home.

Great food! Try going a bit early around the weekends and holidays but other than that it's perfect! Best Cuban food for miles.

  • James P.

Horrible food and the absolute worst service. Not going to post a long review, because every time I do the owner has it removed. Don't waist your time or money on this dump.

  • Michael D.

One to put on your list. Great Cuban food at reasonable prices. The last chance for food in Islamorada before driving all the way to Marathon. The vaca frita (roast beef crisped on the grill) is my wife's favorite and I am addicted to the roast pork with black beans and rice. Truly an ethnic treat, a real gem hiding in the Keys.

  • Andry W.

I ordered a yellow tail snapper and I got tilapia instead. I spoke to the chef and he kept lying to my face saying that it was a snapper When it was clearly not .

  • Phil R.

Bring your own fish. The whole fried fish was fantastic. The sides are great as well. The sweet plantains are delicious and the moro is as well. Good service. Good prices and great food.

DO NOT EAT HEREDriving down down to key west. .we got hungry checked the yelp ap and decided to eat here based on the reviews. .not sure who wrote them I will assume friends abs family. .the place is a dump. .waited 18 minutes for a server to come to us.. food sloppy bland and tasteless .....I still think I am lucky during my two week vacation this is the only bad experience we had

The cuban sandwhich was horrid. Bone dry pork, pickles must be expensive since I could only find one. To end it all, I vomited about 2 hours later from food poisoning. Gross Gross Gross!

40 minute wait for so-so food. Terribly disappointed. We saw several people leave because no one would wait on them.

  • Sam P.

We stopped here for dinner one night. From the outside it looks like a dingy bar. The inside is a bar plus big restaurant. Couldn't see the view, but it seems to be on the water. Great food! Good prices too! It's a family friendly laid back kind of place. Not much ambiance, but a great spot for Cuban food in the Keys.

  • Rhonda V.

Loved the food, the seaside table and the live entertainment! I had the fried oyster sandwich & my husband had the seafood platter. So good!

  • Donna S.

Oh my goodness this place is amazing the marinated flank steak black beans and rice were fantastic! This little Cuban place is wonderful, the best Cuban coffee, I mean the best. Very reasonably priced, staff are friendly and attentive. It's on the waterfront and we make a point to stop here when we come down to Ialmorada to vist family. They will even cook your fresh catch. Have not had a bad meal here and the place has always been, not a fancy place just great Cuban food.

    (5)
  • Christina G.

Good Cuban food. Yucca fries are super good. Skirt steak was good and worth having. Cuban sandwich was huge!!!! Way too much for one person. Piña colada was good but over priced. French fries were cold.

  • Kim L.

Habanos has consistently great Cuban Food. The fried pork chunks, yucca, plantains , tostones, shredded beef and fish dishes are awesome. Very friendly service. Clean. View of harbor. Love it.

This place was a savior on our way back to Miami from Key West. We has to use the restroom facilities and get something quick so can make good time to the airport. After passing a few skeevy places we made this our destination. Here is what I can review on since our stop was quick: *People parked all over the place. *It had a diner feel in the front with long counter. *Rest rooms were clean for both genders (via my wife). *Cuban coffee was strong (espresso even more so). *Toastones were good. A nice snack for the ride to the airport. *Prices were inexpensive. *Mix of locals and tourists. Seems like a good spot to have some authentic Cuban food. We will make it a point next time to stop in for more grub when we come back in 2014.

    (3)
  • Christian T.

Service is somewhat slow. Food is nothing to brag about. It's similar to tex-mex but Cuban style. They lack many Cuban traditions.....if you want authentic Cuban food, head to Miami!

    (2)
  • Starman J.

One of my favorite lunch spots in the keys. This is a very genuine Cuban eatery. The Moro (rice and beans cooked together) is awesome. Highly recommend the skirt steak as a meal or roll up. Great fries. Good staff, very attentive. Prices reasonable. Frankly it is worth extra drive from the other Islamorada restaurants, especially the usual sysco-food Mexican restaurants that litter the keys.
