Good Thai Food for the panhandle. Not a lot here to compare it to. As good or better than what we get in New Orleans. You can ask for 1-10 level of spicy, 1 is truly not spicy. 10 is pretty spicy but not dangerous . The pad thai is OK my 10 beef larb salad was good and my wife's 1 beef basil dish good too.

Excellent Thai food here. I went pretty standard- pad Thai with chicken made spicy and the crispy spring rolls. Total about $25 but enough for 2 meals. Friendly service. Tasty, tasty. All very good. On the list for Sandestin!

After being told this restaurant was rated number one, I decided to try it because I love Thai food. First off, food was just okay. Our server/possibly the owner took our order and was short with us. I'm a vegetarian and wanted my noodles with tofu but requested on the side since my cousins didn't like tofu. She repeatedly told us she was not able to do that yet they have fried tofu on the app menu. I couldn't grasp the concept as to why that wasn't possible. I'm paying prices for either meat item or in my case tofu so that was disappointing. After we got our meal, they never came back to check to see if everything was okay nor did we get refills on water, that were empty, until asked. Again, food was okay and service was subpar. Probably will not go there again.

OK, I am with the consensus on the Royal Thai. Service was OK, food was ....well awful. I had something called angel wings as an app, and it was a chicken wing "stuffed" with the filling from an egg roll, it sounded interesting but it was really kind of yucky. I had Red Curry w/chicken, how can you mess that up? Well they did...it was unlike any curry I have ever had and was closer to condensed soup than curry (I even ordered it spicy). Well that's $36.00 down the drain.

Delicious food, fast personable service at a great price! I had Pepper Garlic Pork as this was recommended by staff. The pork was pounded thin with an amazing flavor. I highly recommend this place to all my family and friends!

Worst Thai food and very bad service.. Everything was sweet and the waitress was terrible.. I would rather eat at MacD

Still our goto Thai place in the area, though the service is starting to slip badly. We were served very raw chicken on our last visit, probably the chef moving too fast in the kitchen. There was a clear disconnect between the hostess and the serving staff. I sure hope they clear it up.

We had a very nice dinner here - the best meal we've had in the Destin/Miramar Beach area. Unlike many Thai restaurants that make everything too sweet, the dishes we had were just the right balance of sweet, spicy, sour, and salty. I was especially impressed with the shrimp in my Pad Khing Sod Goong - too many restaurants over-cook shrimp, but the chef at Royal Orchid got it just right.

Definitely recommend this place! Some friends who eat there on a regular basis told me about it, so I tried it -- and went back the next week. The atmosphere is interesting, seems "authentic Thai" (whatever that means); it's a little dark, but relaxing enough. I think they could do more with the space. The hostess and wait staff are very polite but not too friendly, just professional and efficient. The food is very good, a little spicy, so don't ask for it hot! I've had the Fresh spring rolls (stuffed with shrimp, lettuce and carrots). Quite fresh, no older ingredients, very important for this sort of food. The vegetable tempura (crisp fried and served with chili sauce) was not greasy and not heavy. The calamari tempura (marinated squid with garlic and herbs, fried with sweet chili sauce) was fine, maybe the calamari was too thin and not lightly chewy enough. The Thom Yum Talay seafood soup (shrimps, mussels, squid, with lemon grass, mushrooms, onions, kaffir, fresh lime juice) I highly recommend. A unique flavor and just spicy enough with some offbeat taste to make you want more. Pad Mixed Vegetables with friend tofu was good, but not that memorable, but Thai style fried rice with egg, vegetables, and cucumber was surprisingly good, light and flavorful, especially since fried rice is not a favorite food of mine. Let me add that their hot tea is always perfectly brewed with some flavor I can't place; be sure to get hot tea for an authentic touch. Definitely try this place out. It seems to have a local following, always a good sign with restaurants.

I have eaten here nearly once a week, usually a Sunday.... Always a friendly place, ALWAYS CLEAN, food is 100% excellent. I would recommend this fine Restaurant to anyone local or visiting Destin, Florida! 5 stars!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The spring rolls are great and try the Pad Ped...You wont be disappointed! Fun for kids too as you can sit on the cushions and enjoy the authentic experience

This is the very first restaurant we tried in Destin and we were very disappointed. The service was very slow and the dishes are expensive for what you will get. Both my dish and my wife's dish were too salty so we asked for an additional ball of white rice, but watch out! If you ask for additional rice, you will be charged $2 per ball of rice. That was a real ripoff.

The food is quite tasty here. It was a bit suspicious since upon walking in around 8pm we noticed we were the only ones in there. Ok, we'll give it a try since our party of 12 agreed on Thai food and Yelp steered us towards Royal Orchid. We didn't have much options as far as Thai food. We ordered a few appetizers and drinks and it was going positive so far until a salad plate came out. It was the beef salad but there seemed nothing but a few tiny pieces of beef in the salad. For something that was $12 salad I would expect some more protein available besides a few pieces of beef. Well, the server was notified and she insisted there were beef but you have to discover it under the bottom. To prove her point, all the while insisting that it would be no problem to request for more beef from the kitchen, the server kindly brought over a fresh plate so we could transfer the salad over to the new plate in order to see the beef underneath. To be so surprise, yes it was still only a few pieces. This experience was unnecessary. We ordered our foods, drinks, wine, and appetizers for a party of 12 but the server felt the need to prove a point over some beef on a salad plate? At the end, the additional beef was brought out but it seemed like we had to swim laps around the pool to get something that obviously was missing in a beef salad dish. The food overall was pretty good. Some better than others but it was good food but the treatment was uncalled for. Thankfully this was a vacation restaurant experience but we definitely will not try this place on later visits.

Nice ambiance, pleasant staff. The food is very good. We eat Thai good often and would consider ourselves quite selective. This is very good not only for Destin but in general. We had a large group and ordered several appetizers and entrees. All were solid choices. Beef Thai salad was skimpy on beef but they remedied that after I mentioned it. Very flavorful. Only other negative was the Masaman curry which was a bit watery but flavor was also good. You will not be disappointed with this place.

The service is terribly slow. It was very disappointing bc I've heard good thing about this place. The food is ok but the experience is made worse bc the quality if service.

Beef Pad thai was very sweet and had a reddish color, not much meat either. I asked for it to be spicy spicy and it wasn't.. My girlfriend got a curry dish that was good but was barely given any rice. She asked for some more rice, which the waiter brought, then later charged us $2.00 for (didn't tell us it was going to be extra). We got water with lemon and the glasses we got barely had any ice, IDK if they did that on purpose because the water was free? Nice decor though lol.

I usually never leave a review but I must comment on this place. I just want to start off by saying I really liked the woman who took my order I think she was the owner so I really wanted to like this place. I paid $34.00 for this food plus I tipped. I got a duck curry and what I got was a half a quart of a what looked to be curry. It tasted like watery coconut milk with pink food coloring. I love love red curry and I was fooled when I tasted this awful copy. Red curry should be creamy, fragrant, and plentiful. None of these things were happening. Next I got this pork dish. I saw a picture and I will tell you it looked nothin like the picture. It was caramelized , or anything . I was really really let down. I don't think they intentionally made bad food but I think they need to know they have bad food. I hope they listen and try to use a cookbook.

Disappointing 2 of 4 visits. Our fist two meals were good just a bit salty. The last two visits were so very substandard that we will never return

My fiance & I are both huge Thai food fans. Every city we go to, we tend to try at least one Thai restaurant. This place was alright in my book, but my fiance didn't like it. The spice level is perfect. The pricing is a little on the high end, for the location & quality. The only plate, out of the 7 we tried, I really liked was the Pad Thai. The Thai tea was a little bland & not so authentic to the Thai taste.

This was my first time going to this establishment. I tried several dishes and all were amazing! Definitely the best Thai cuisine I've had in the South-East. The flavors were exceptional, and all of the ingredients were fresh. The service was unbeatable. The owner came by several times to make sure we were doing okay. Our server was fast and helpful fore there were some questions about the large menu. Speaking of Menu, I've never seen a Thai restaurant with such variety. They seemed to have every Thai dish I've ever seen. The restaurant has a good feel to it. It's very inviting, and very clean! I'll be a regular at this place!

Good food and good service. Traditional Thai dish"s and appetizers. Lunch specials are $8-12. Don't Bother with the Royal Mussels, they are basically Tempora,d and put back in shell. Not Bad but nothing special, so save your money on that one and get the Fresh Rolls, or Potstickers, or Tea Rose apps. Coconut Soups is really thick and Coconutty, but really good if you like it thick.

So, I am trying to figure out just which Thai Restaurant in the area is the best. I really liked the atmosphere, nice clean and quiet. The food was very good but different from what I am used to. Not saying better or worse, just different. The Thai beef salad, was not as acidic as I am used to and would have liked, however it was full of flavor, and the beef was tender and juicy. The Pepper Garlic Pork (MOO YANG) was excellent. Veggies where very tasteful and the pork was just perfect with lots of flavor. The Pad Thai, was the only thing I am unsure of. This is usually my favorite dish, but it tasted like it had Tobasco sauce in it and I just can't say I was impressed by it. Overall a very nice Restaurant and I will definitely go back.

We go to Thai restaurant quite regularly. While vacationing in Destin, I checked out Yelp and found one, but they're closed due to reconstruction, So I picked the next one down the list, Royal Orchid. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE AND THE FOOD. We were asked how spicy we'd like our food, most of us picked "hot". The food was tolerable, but the soup was very hot & spicy. None of us were able to finish it. I wished, they'd warned us on the soup. They had no consideration on offering to make it more tolerable. One dish was not properly cooked, so we asked to have it cooked some more, they did, after arguing that it is the way they cooked it. Other dishes were mostly very disappointing in taste. I always order the regular, Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai. Pad Ki Mao, Pad Ka Pao, some tofu & vegetable dishes. None of them taste like any other Thai restaurant, not even close. I think they're not too concern on the quality, since gratuities for large party was automatically charged. My son even commented, they focus more on their decoration, than the service and quality of food.

Real Thai people run this restaurant, my family came from out of town to try it out and the food was very fresh and authentic. Order the fresh roll for appetizer- the fresh roll was very fresh! The pork pad thai if you want spicy noodles. IT WAS THE BOMB DIGGITY! We also ordered the basil fried rice which was just as good.

Visiting the area and I stumbled across this little place. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but service and food is excellent! Will definitely visit again!

Beware of filler to skimp on the real substance of the meal! I've been back to this restaurant for lunch, and I was disappointed. I ordered Pad Ped with chicken and expected to receive exactly what the menu described and how I've come to know this dish elsewhere (choice of meat with young green beans in a chili and basil sauce). I received not only that, but a whole bevy of peas, carrots (both sliced and diced), green pepper, baby corn, green onion, and mushrooms. I'd be surprised if the amount of ground chicken in the dish totaled 1/2 cup.

Excellent Thai food. Walk in for a quick lunch after shopping in Silver Sands since it is on the opposite side of the road. A great pleasant surprise

This would be alot better if it didn't have to compete with Thai Delights (Destin) and Thai House (in FWB). Their spring rolls and soups were excellent, but the pad thai was average. If you are close to this place and unwilling to head 8 miles west, this would be a safe bet.

Very tasty Thai food. The Panang Curry with pork (medium spice) is delicious! Wish I could pull myself away from it and taste other items.

Holy Mother of God! My husband and I have been eating Thai food for years and this is one of the best Thai restaurants ever! I usually eat spicy to a medium level but their version of "medium" was super high for me. It was so good though that I ate it anyway, even though I thought my mouth was going to catch on fire! We shared the Num Took, Thom Yum Gai, duck curry, and fried grouper. The Thai teas are so delicious - they serve them in huge glasses I couldn't even finish mine. Located right off of Hwy 98. Easy location to find. Ample parking. Close to Dippin Dots. Service was on par - such sweet people! I love the atmosphere. They have booths where you can sit on cushions on the floor to eat, would be perfect for groups.

I am Thai food fan, wife is not but she "humors" me occasionally in going to Thai restaurant. Because of Yelp reviews, we decided to try Royal Orchid. Glad we did, extensive dinner menu, I tried the Garlic Pork and she ordered Spring Rolls. She said Spring rolls best ever, my Garlic Pork was excellent. Great table service. We will be back.

Royal Orchid Thai proudly boasts "The Best Thai Food in the World" in the storefront...I would beg to differ. Our family gave it a test run on our short journey to Destin, FL. The restaurant itself was dimly lit yet had a somewhat pleasing hole-in-the-wall appeal with the decor and option of 'traditional' or 'contemporary' seating. The service was mediocre at best with wait staff forgetting instructions which had been repeated multiple times -- the constant scowl of the owner was none too enjoyable as well. I cannot account for the authenticity of the food as it may be more authentic than I accustomed too (I believe it is run by Thai owners) but I can definitely say the food was not impressive. The portions were smaller than expected for the high price tag. The Tom Yum was very salty, though to its credit, full of flavor. (lemongrass, onions, spices, etc.) The basil thai fried rice was probably the best dish with slivers of basil cooked throughout and the rice itself infused with the basil essence. The pad thai was standard and luckily, not soupy and too ketchup-y/saucy as it sometimes seems to be at other restaurants. I could be overlooking the fact that the menu has more to offer (i.e. I didn't try any of the curry or seafood dishes) -- however, what I did experience did not entice me in the faintest and in the end, it was the bad service that left a bad taste in my mouth. P.S. They charge gratuity for parties over 6 so keep that in mind if you are planning on going out with a large group of friends and/or family.

This restaurant was very good. A nice change to seafood after eating out for the last week. I will return! Staff was very nice and attentive. Wish we could have sat in the little huts on the pillows for the true experience but those were all being used.

Can't say that it was the most comfortable meal I've had, but wow!, the food was pretty good. Not the best Thai I've ever had, but not too shabby either.

Thanks, again Yelpers. You make every trip we take better. We started our week in Destin at the Thai Orchid, and had our last dinner here, as our kids declared the chicken satay superior, with a peanut sauce that had a nice roasted flavor. They were right. I wish the overall dishes were as well executed. Green curry with chicken was mostly bamboo shoots and very saucy. We enjoyed Pad Kee Mau, the flat noodles with thai basil, eggs and chicken, but the Pad Thai's sweet notes overwhelmed the dish and gave you the impression that the chef didn't have a gift for that balance of hot, sweet, salty and sour (and fishy) that makes the best Thai dishes hard to stop eating. I could have stopped any time. On the other hand, it's a beautifully appointed dining room with low tables, floor pillows, bamboo pergolas and flattering light. Service was attentive and the owner was gracious and welcoming. We'll try this one again and see if we have better luck with other dishes.
