We wanted something cheap, easy and familar so we figured that we couldn't go wrong with an old favorite like Outback. Wrong! I don't know if this was just an off night for the store or a busy time or what. We used the curbside take away on this occasion so maybe that was it. The girl who brought our food to the car was a little confused and fumblely, maybe she was new or something. Our food was also not as good as we are used to. We know a decent steak and can usually count on Outback to give us a pretty decent steak when we don't feel like going to a really nice place. Unfortunately, the steaks we got from this location were very fatty, mine was overcooked and just blah. My husband (a huge meat and potatoes guy) didn't even finish his because it was so blah. The salad was wilty and more yellowed and limp than we are used to and my baked potato tasted funny in a way I can't describe. Luckily we don't live in town, we were only there for a week, but if we ever get back to the area, I can't say I will try this location again.

We ate here the first night we arrived in town. This place set the bar pretty high for restaurants in Destin. Our waiter was very nice and accommodated our every need. My family and I aren't really beef people, but we wanted to try something different. I had the ribeye and my hubby had the filet mignon. My husband's filet mignon was cooked to perfection at a medium temperature and my ribeye was medium well. I would recommended the ribeye cooked at a medium temperature, I was just chicken and didn't want alot of pink in my meat. All of our side items were very flavorful! Enjoy:)

Been to a lot of outback restaurants around the country and also noticed a downhills trend in food quality and service. Ok experience but my wife's steak was first undercooked then over cooked. The staff were nice and the manager was helpful but didn't make up for the food. The onion was over cooked and greasy. Overall not up to outback standards.

Service was SOOOO slow and it wasn't even busy ... Got ketchup I asked for after I was done - two simple orders of chicken ...

The service was great. But the food was so salty that I regret ever going there. I got sick.

I love outback, I really do... But this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. We literally had to ask for everything that we needed. Food was OK.. We were really just ready to leave. Not going to hold it against all the outbacks, but I'm disappointed.

We have been to many different outbacks before and I have loved there food everytime! But we came to this one and I got a terrible case of food poisoning! I've never felt so bad! Will not be going back!

This was the best Outback experience I've had. Maybe because Pete, my service was so awesome. Not too much attention, but just right! My bone in ribeye was cooked to perfection- my compliments to the chef! The caramelized onions on top, set it off. And I'm in Love with the pecan blue cheese chopped salad. Not to mention the sweet tea, was actually sweet! Best chain restaurant experience I've had this year so far.

I've had better! A little disappointing that they did nothing for my daughter's Bday. Every other Outback does. Not this one! Oh well. Food was mediocre!

I enter this place every couple of years because of my overwhelming desire to devour a blooming onion...I am here to report that in addition to the regular menu food now even the blooming onion is not worth coming in for, terribly greasy. Sad but true!

We waited over an hour to get our food! When it finally came out it was burnt and my husbands order was messed up. He sent it back and it came out wrong again! Manager wouldn't take anything off the bill! It was a terrible experience! We will never go back there again!!!

Usually enjoy going to this location but did not have a good experience this time. Steak was over cooked and sent it back but never got an acknowledgement from management. Drink was not good and when we left hostesses did not acknowledge we were leaving.

I have been to this location numerous times. You can definitely find better steak places around the area, but you pay for what you get. Outback is cheaper, but you also get what you pay for. Last night, my husband and I went with 3 of our friends. Usually I just order a steak, but this time I decided to go for a burger. My husband ordered the Alice Springs Chicken. My husbands order was really good. My burger was just okay, kind of dry...I've definitely had better. I have to say, my favorite thing about Outback that never disappoints is their chicken tortilla soup. It is soooo goood, and I usually leave wishing I had just ordered a full bowl full and not a cup. We've never had any issues with the service at Outback, until last night. One of our friends ordered their Bloomin' Burger which is supposed to be topped with the signature Bloomin' Onion petals. He received his burger and it was missing the onions.....the signature part of the burger. He had also ordered a tall draft beer. He finished it prior to us receiving our dinner. The waitress came back and asked if he wanted another one and he said yes. We then received our food, managed to eat our complete meal without them bringing him anything else to drink!!! She then came and apologized and said they were having a problem with the keg and brought him a bottled beer literally one minute prior to us receiving the check. She said that beer would be at no charge, I just couldn't believe they didn't come and offer him anything else to drink the entire time while he was eating his meal!! Probably won't be back here for a while. The food is really just okay, and honestly we probably wouldn't have even gone there if we didn't have gift cards.

We arrived around 730pm. There were a few customers waiting to be seated. We were told it would be about 15 minutes. The bar was supposedly full, except for a few seats that were dirty. I saw a couple of empty tables just while getting the buzzer. After 15-20 minutes of waiting we were seated. The bar was half empty, and we passed at least 3 empty tables on the way to ours. We immediately gave our order since we already knew what we wanted. After about 3 minutes we received bread. 30 minutes after we gave our order, the food came out. The steak was ordered a medium-rare, it was closer to well. The soup we ordered wasn't even brought out with our food. The Mac n cheese was pretty good. Steak tasted like any other steak. Fire cracker salmon had a crunchy bottom, but the rest turned out fine. Baked potato soup tasted just like potato chowder, pretty much what you would expect. Overall the food turned out ok, even with the errors. Our server was nice, offered us dessert since she messed up a little. We turned it down though. We MIGHT return to this Outback eventually.

Ordered on line for carry out! Requested no onions on my salad, it had onions. Chicken was impossible to cut! So dry and hard. I could have opened a bag of store bought salad would have been the same. Soooo disappointed! 5 dinner and 1 loaf of mini bread! REALY! No butter... It's off season people. Let's bring the standard up a little.

The worst Outback EVER!!! Food was awful and management was horrible, our server did a good as could be expected. One good point, the beer was very cold! Don't go it's not worth it...

The service was pretty ok, the food was not. Ordered fried calamari for an appetizer. It was not hot when we received it and it had plenty of non-calamari-fried "floaters" with it -- obviously this was fried in some grease that lots and lots of other things were fried in as well. Very poor plating, too. Just thrown on a plate, no lemon, no garnish.... We were sitting at the bar and the manager was there. Explained our sorrow and he took it off the bill without us asking, so that was pretty nice. For our entrees, I ordered the trio: coconut shrimp, crab and avocado stack, and seared tuna. The tuna looked like little bandaids in thickness and size. The crab and avocado stack was also so little! The very large coconut shrimp were close to looking burned on the outside and, once again, the plating was awful. I was disappointed just looking at it and the manager actually delivered it. The tuna tasted ok, the crab and avocado was good, albeit about four bites but the shrimp was extremely undercooked, despite the char on the outside. Ended up sending that back as well. The manager took it off the bill; we didn't have to ask. My husband had fettuccine alfredo with grilled shrimp. He said it was just ok.... Bland. Just a yucky food experience. Not to mention that the rest of the afternoon, my stomach ached and I felt sick. Not sure if it was the food or just my mind. It'll take a miracle for me to give that Outback another try....

Been to this outback three times, the first being September 2014. We arrived and were told 30-45 minutes. We decided to wait at the bar. After an hour of waiting for our buzzer to go off, we decided to ask how much longer it would be (it was extremely busy that night). We were told we weren't on the list anymore and promised the next table. We were seated and given menus, no silverware. We ordered appetizers and drinks. After our bloomin onion came out (very soggy) we realized we were going to have to ask for utensils and small plates. This has been the recurrent theme for subsequent visits as well - waiting for plates and utensils. Almost right after the bloomin onion came out our salads arrived. About halfway through our salads, the entrees were placed on our already crowded table. This next issue has strangely happened each time we've come as well. My boyfriend orders the 9 oz and I the 6, both medium, he gets garlic mash and I get mashed potatoes. They always switch our orders. Also, every time I have gone the steak has been overcooked. The last time was the worst. I asked for a new one, which they very graciously assured me the next would be to my liking. After about 40 minutes it came out. I'm not sure how this happened, as most of the tables were cleared by then. It was good, and they also upped it to a 9 oz (which came in handy because by then my boyfriend was hungry again so we shared it). Overall, needs help with cooking steak and bussing tables. The servers are always extremely pleasant and attentive.

If this review was based off of my food alone, it would have been a five star review. But my husbands food was kind of crappy and the service sucked. I ordered the 6oz Victorias Filet with garlic mashed potatoes and baked potato soup. It was all delicious!!!! My husband wasn't so lucky. He got sirloin with moonshine bacon wrapped shrimp. The shrimp was excellent. The steak was disgusting! Overall it was all pretty good. We'll be back!

I was inspired to submit review after reading Allison C.'s review, which was placed a couple of days after my most recent experience at this restaurant. This restaurant, and this particular location, used to be one of my favorites. I can't figure out why it's gone downhill so much over the past year or so. I came to Outback to satisfy a weeks-long craving that I had specifically for their fare. I drove from 30 minutes away, partially in the rain, looking forward to what I had in mind. I settled into my booth and ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer, one of my long-time favorites. My coconut shrimp arrived at my table on the burnt side. I eventually ended up peeling the coconut breading off the shrimp and just eating them that way (I did let a manager take note of what they looked like). Then my entree came, a sirloin topped with crabmeat that I ordered medium well. Again, another overcooked item that I basically had to saw through and gnaw on. The "crabmeat" topping? Don't even bother. It was just a bunch a breading of some sort with some sauce thrown over it. After my waitress stopped by to ask me how things were, and I told her, she did offer to bring me another sirloin but I was getting turned off by this time and told her not to bother. Soon after this, a manager came by at the urging of my waitress, also offering to get me another sirloin. This time I broke down and let them. When the second steak arrived, instead of my expected medium well, while the outside had a bit of a char on it, when I cut into it my plate became a sea of blood from the quite rare meat. Now I'm just really done. When the manager stopped back by, noting my disappointment, he offered yet again to get me another steak, and even said he'd cook it himself. By this time I just don't want to try any more so he said that he wouldn't charge me for anything and I drove myself back another 30 minutes feeling completely dissatisfied and let down.

Food was good but it came out wrong. My kids steak was rare and I asked for well done for them. I also asked for medium rare for my steak and it came out well done. When the manager came out he didn't say anything or offer us anything in exchange for the dilemma which they usually do. Needless to say my daughter got sick that night from the steak. So horrible service when taking kids. But all in all its a outback steakhouse and steaks were delicious for me and my wife.

We have been going to the Destin, fl. Outback since it opened. Have always gone at least twice a month. The last few times we have gone there with our friends the quality has gone down considerably. Yes we have watched the prices steadily go up and the servings gets smaller. The steaks have gotten dismal. They were like shoe leather last time.not one person at our table liked their steak. The sweet potatoes! I didn't even know they came so small! Too bad that Outback has gotten so big that they don't care about their customers or the bad reviews. But they won't be the first chain to go under when customers such as us get fed up and find new places to frequent. I emailed the headquarters and complained and didn't receive a response. There is a lot of good restaurants in Destin, too many with good food and good quality To have to put up with a chain like Outback. Oh! Don't bother going there for birthday celebrations anymore...they cut out the free thunder from down under. They now hand out a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And there isn't any singing ( not that I personally miss that)!

This is the second time I have been here since the remodel. The Alice Springs Chicken is awesome. The new remodel really helped a lot more sitting in side when waiting for a table or your friends to get there. The service is great, great time we will be back

Terrible experience - my party all happened to be of ethnic descent, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, but we were treated horribly by the staff and manager. I will never ever be an outback patron

I had a great experience overall. Ordered appetizers. Quesadillas were great, and grilled shrimp was good. Loaded cheese fries were overcooked, but we ate them anyway. Server was a bit talkative but friendly and took care of us and kept my drink filled. Tables are too close together in some areas. We had to ask for a booth. Another family that was sat at that same awkwardly close table just got up and moved to a booth after being seated by the hostess. Get a clue guys!

The entire chain has gone downhill over the past few years. Destin is only one of the many Outback locations where I've noticed that the quality of food is not the same as what they served a few years ago. This appears to be a consistent issue now, especially with the steaks. Even the little things, like the "bloomin' onion"...they used to be the size of softball a few years ago. Today, they're the size of a baseball. I'm disappointed in the entire company. I live in the area, so the Destin location gets most of my attention. But I've seen a downturn in this chain in every location I've been to over the past five years.

I travel to Destin a lot on business and have eaten at the Outback several times. They have curbside to-go and I've used it every time I visit, so I can't comment on the dine-in experience. Curbside to-go has been hit and miss for me. Sometimes it's quick, but other times it's slow and they mess up my order. One time, they forgot my salad and I had to drive back almost 10 miles and get it. Another time they forgot my bread and I had to drive back and get it as well. So make sure you check your order thoroughly after you get it. The food is typical Outback. The ribeye is cooked to my liking, but a little bland. The full rack of lamb was good. The Kookaburra wings were a great hit for me. They're big and flavorful.

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff; good food usually; not terribly busy. Cons: Loud, as all Outbacks seem to be; food sides sometimes vary on quality. Overall, its somewhere I go, but not frequent.

This place is disgusting. A little boy threw up right next to our table, on my mother's foot and it took literally 5 or 6 minutes for somebody to come over and "wipe it up" with only napkins. That's an extremely long time to sit there and smell throw up that's a foot away from us while we wait for our food. Then, they didn't even use disinfectant or water. They simply threw some black cloth napkins on top of it and wiped it up. After that, the servers were walking back and forth where it happened and basically tracked it everywhere. If that's how they clean up something as disgusting as throw up in the dining area, imagine how they treat their kitchen! Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable!!!

Outback is a chain, so if you're used to it, you know what to expect in Destin: no different here from anywhere else. But that said, the steaks are reliably great (if you want prime rib get there early evening, because they run out almost every night), the appetizers are excellent, and the non-beef dishes are wonderful too. Some people don't like the spices they cook all their meat in, but if those are not to your taste they'll do your order without. All in all, we eat here several times a month and have never been disappointed. It's not Ruth's Chris, but you're not paying for Ruth's Chris either.

Outback Steakhouse in Destin has great food at great prices. I really like the atmosphere and layout of the restaurant. The staff is very friendly. Outback doesn't always get things perfect but they do their best to correct the errors made to make your experience a good one. What more could you ask for! They have an awesome frozen drink called a Wallaby Darned. The one thing I don't like is how they play with the names on their bathroom doors. I have seen many people walk into the wrong bathroom in error and that's just not right. I think this is very tacky! If they want to play with the names on the backroom doors they should also put the standard "Men" and "Women" on the same doors with their other signs.

Service was horrible and food was so so. My wife asked for some A1 steak sauce and my wife waited almost ten minutes before she finally started eating her steak with no sauce. Then with two bites left the waitress finally brought the sauce. I don't think I'll be back there anytime soon. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Its a chain.. so. date night on a whim... grabbed a table in the bar to watch the world series. 20 minutes in some doofus who worked another section turns the tv so his customers can watch it. DUDE we sat *HERE* for a reason. turn my tv back! And the prime rib has major weird seasoning on the outside now. As a super taster I am not a fan. Our server was super nice, efficient, and it was pretty empty... despite it being a friday night.

We were on vacation and had a save $5 off coupon so we decided to to to a chain resturant....well thats was a mistake! My wifes steak was overcooked (almost burnt) and she asked for medium. So the waitress took her entire plate back. Everyone else in our family continued eating and by the time we all were done....poof my wifes plate showed up. Even though she said it was good and cooked correctly...it was still a pain to have to sit there and watch her eat. A ditsy blonde manager came by our table and said how sorry she was for our inconvience. She really came off as overly exaggerated and unsincere. When we got our final bill not even the coupon was deducted that I had handed the waitress. So I had to ask for the coupon to be removed....and she had to get the ditsy blonde again, and once again....the ditsy blonde appoligized and said how sorry she was for all our problems during dinner - and she says "I got the $5 off the bill, hope you will come back and see us" ---- I SAID "NOPE VERRY SORRY TOO BUT THATS NOT HAPPENING"

We were on vacation and just ordered curbside pickup on our last night so that we didn't have to do any dishes. The guy who handled my order was AWESOME! (This was the night of November 4th in case a manager is reading). He was so polite and efficient. I actually had a really bad cold, so for someone to impress me while I was feeling so badly, he really must've been great. My steak was actually pretty good. Mashed potatoes yummy. The only thing I didn't like was the potato soup of the day. I don't know if they ran out and had to make some from a packet or what, but it didn't look or taste like the normal one. It was way off. Hopefully this was just a fluke for the soup because I really have nothing else to complain about from this experience.

I have been to this location for curb-side pick up and never had an issue but to actually go in and have a sit down dinner with my family was terrible. So this is how the night went. We pulled into the parking lot and assume that this Outback was busy since the parking lot was about as full as it always is when this location is opened. To my surprise when I walk in the dining area is maybe at 40% capacity, so I am thinking we should be in an out no problem... This was not the case. I get in and talk to the hostess, she was very courteous and seem genuinely all around nice, and she lets me know that we can get in immediately which is my queue to go and get my son and 6 month pregnant wife. After getting my 2 yr. old son ready and my wife out of the car we go in and get sat down immediately just as the hostess said. Good sign for the dinner so far. Our waitress came over about 10 minutes after we sat down and got our drink orders. I have a beer, water for my wife and a milk for my son. No issue with ordering but it took another 10 minutes or so to get the drinks. At this point I was wondering what took so long as the restaurant was practically empty. I let it slide since I did see her go do a birthday sing-a-long with the rest of the staff. We finally get out drinks and she disappears for another 15 - 20 minutes. At this point my wife is irritated and I am getting there as well. Our son was getting restless as well. When our waitress gets back she asks if we are ready, if she had time management skills I think this could have been avoided this waste of time or she could have used simple reasoning to know that she would not need to ask this question since she has been absent from the dining area. We order Aussie Cheese Fries, a kids grilled cheese meal, soup and salad for the wifey and I get a steak and ribs with a side of scallops. She managed to the cheese fries out within 10 mins and my wife's salad about 5 minutes after that. Then we don't see her for about 30 mins after that. When she emerges from the back we flag her down and ask her about out food and she seem clue less and goes back to the kitchen again an comes back about 5 minutes later. She asks if we would like our sons meal to come out a few minutes before our and we agreed for that to happen. So the grilled cheese meal comes out and the broccoli comes out a soggy mess and the grilled cheese is cold and the grease had even gotten to the point to coagulating. We got a bit furious at this point and just had our son continue snacking on the cheese fries since our waitress disappeared again. We flag her down after another 15 minutes of waiting and ask her to just cancel our orders so she walks back and immediately returned to our surprise to let us know that our food would be out in a few minutes. Already furious and starving we tell her that we decline to take the order and to just charge us for what was already brought out. With a lack of remorse for her inability to fulfill her duties as a waitress she disappears back into the kitchen. We wait yet again another 15 minutes, just to have the manager come out with only the kids mean taken off the ticket and a half hearted apology for their incompetence. Sadly we will have to drive to Pensacola for outback because I will not go back to the Destin location. Hopefully someone from their staff sees this and they work on their customer service.
