While on vacation we have been here twice (so far) ... We stopped on our way in and were shocked at how amazing this place was. The man that set us was very friendly so we got an instant good vibe. We got three coffees and all came out in different mugs (my fiancé knew this would win me over... My obsession with mugs is probably unhealthy) so seeing the whole restaurant with different mugs I was in heaven. Our cups never went empty.. Coffee and water.. If it wasn't our server taking care of us it was the guy that seated us or another server. Our food was great! We had omelets.. Waffles.. Taters... Eggs... All good. The waffle came out covered in strawberries and a lot of whipped cream ... The second time I got one of the breakfast ham bowl things and it was amazing! The place is small but only one time we had to wait about 10 minutes.. The walls are covered in tin cans and it was neat to look around to see if you have ever had one or seen them before.. For me I saw one and got instantly excited because I remembered having it at my house as a child and we kept coins in it so that was an extra bonus! Go here!!! You won't be disappointed!!!! Great food and even better staff!!!!!

It's a small, simple old school type restaurant. We stopped in on our way to the car rental. There was a wait for a table so we sat at the bar, which was roomy enough. The staff was very friendly, which I added another star for. The menu was basic brunch, nothing that stood out. I got the three cheese omelet and my bf got the steak and eggs skillet. He loved the skillet. My omelet was average, got some toast and fries on the side. Portion size was huge, price was decent. Like I said, it's basic and simple place. But there's nothing wrong with that. If your in the area then it's worth a stop in but I def wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I haven't been here in years. And I've been wanting to stop in on numerous occasions but just never could find the time. On this day I could squeeze out about 20 minutes to stop in for a quick breakfast. The place was full of course, but there were a few seats empty up at the bar. I ordered a country skillet with two eggs over medium. Ham, onions, and peppers served over home fries, with the two fried eggs on top. I've got to say I was disappointed. While flavorful there was far to much grease at the bottom of the skillet for me to enjoy the whole skillet.

Steak and eggs is all I can say!!!

Family run for over 20 years, this is a great little place just outside downtown Clearwater. Super clean with shelves of "tin" memoriabilia - lunch boxes, food tins etc. Dad had fish plate with salad, veggies and fries - huge! I had the patty melt. Everything was delicious, fresh, hot when it should be and cold when it should be. I am not a fan of iceberg lettuce salads, but it is a diner so I'll give 'em a pass. The service was friendly and attentive. For the two of us, with coffees (really good by the way), we got out of there under $20 before tip. Recommend!

Amazingly delicious food. Great service. The atmosphere is a little off, hence the missing 5th star. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast if you want deliciousness food for a cheap price.

  • Robert A.

Great food, huge portions and reasonable prices. You're not going to leave hungry from this place! Service is excellent all around.

Yummmm! Landed in Tampa and got on Yelp and Tin Can Cafe was highly rated, so my husband and I thought let's go for it. Glad we did! Awesome down home breakfast! Cheap, big portions and delicious. I had the spinach & feta omelet and home fries. Man, it was good. Get the home fries!!! Great service. Right off of South Myrtle drive just up from Clearwater Beach. Looks like a little hole in the wall---well, it is---but those are typically best spots and this is that!

  • Tommy M.

Heard a lot of great things about this place and I must give it a mixed review I ordered the steak skillet and my friend the country skillet we got the bisquits and gravy as well the skillets lacked flavor but everything in it cooked very well wayyy to many onions as both of us thought it ruined the skillet the gravy a little to thick but it tasted good and biscuits cooked perfect service was average at best but overall not a bad experience at all I would go back prices were affordable

Came here once but was so busy because it was Spring break and we couldn't get a table. Came back a couple of weeks later. Great little diner. Homey feel. I come from a city with high restaurant industry standards but I live in Clearwater part of the year and haven't experienced anything above mediocre service until I came here for breakfast. The breakfast was inexpensive and filling and I had left overs. Friendly service, very attentive. Will be back.

Good place for breakfast... Really small but food is good and reasonably priced... Cash only though..

  • Joseph V.

Great yelp find! Small hole in the wall with great family charm. Friendly service with exceptional food proportions. Although the omelette ingredients were not fresh it did not take away from the flavor at all! The steak was phenomenal but the "hidden menu item" stole the show; the hash browns were amazing! Will be coming back and recommending to everyone!

I'll probably hate myself for writing this review lol - as the place is already so popular that oftentimes there is a wait to be seated, but I've been coming here for breakfast a couple of times a month for a several years so, here we go... If you want THE BEST breakfast in Clearwater, this is the place to come! The staff is ALWAYS friendly and very courteous. I almost always get the 10 oz Steak & Eggs for breakfast (hmm, probably going to have to stop by there tomorrow again) and it is the BEST deal in town. They have always cooked it to perfection and the steak comes pre-trimmed, so what you are getting is a full 10 oz of completely edible deliciousness. Hardly any fat, no bones, just steak!

Tin can is a small cafe located in a small building in Clearwater, going towards Dunedin. It is often always packed, and they do not have very much seating. However this place is a good little place to get breakfast. I often find myself wanting to eat breakfast heading this way, and this place always tends to pop into my mind. They have something called The Tin Can Wild, which is 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and either 2 french toast or 2 pancakes for $6.49, which I think is a fair price. It is pretty good. You cannot really mess up breakfast food. I have also tried their breakfast skillets and I would have to agree with the other reviews that it is greasy and lacks a lot of flavor. The waiter and waitress that is often in here is very personable, and they always are talking to the regulars which is nice. If you find yourself towards this way, and wanting some breakfast, give this place a try for yourself.

Nice little tiny spot to go to for a quick bite. This place is slammed most of the times; so expect to wait for a seat. The food is great. The taste always feels like home cooking. The place is small but the taste is big. Try the steak and eggs with home fries; you'll thank me later. Check them out and say "Chubby sent me." :)

Great place- thanks to yelpers for the recommendation. Simple, no frills, breakfast and lunch spot. The server was so nice and genuinely attentive and pleasant. The prices are great and the food quality excellent, which explains why it gets full. I just had a scrambled egg dish and was given a choice of home fries, hash browns etc. when I ordered the home fries which the server mentioned and had not seen on the menu, he told me they took a little longer. He stopped by again to refill my drink and said the home fries were almost ready. I was embarrassed when they came out and took up an entire second plate! They were delicious, as were the eggs nicely prepared. More embarrassing was the cost of less than $5. I wish I remembered the server's name because he was great! Highly recommend.

We found this little diner while visiting the area. It was a great brunch spot! Definitely a good, non touristy, place to eat.

Out of eggs at home so we thought we would try this place. Always drive by it. Small mom and pop type of place. Prices a little higher then I thought but I am sure it's good. Eggs and toast for me, how bad can it be?

  • Nancy H.

We visited the TinCan Cafe for breakfast before we went out on a fishing boat for the day. The Tin Can special was 2 eggs (your choice), bacon or sausage patties or sausage links and pancakes or French toast. Everyone knew each other in the restaurant and were very friendly. It is a good and friendly place.

I do breakfast at least once a week and this place knocked it out of the park. We had to wait for a table as there were a couple large parties ahead of us, however once we were seated our order was taken right away and our food was out so fast. Everything was cooked perfect. for a small little place it was impeccably clean. The recent debate has been over which is more important good service or good food but today we had it all. Glad we found this gem on Yelp.

I tried this spot for the first time after living in this part of Florida for several years... What a treat. Quaint location and decent service. The food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back. I recommend bringing a friend and therefore able to try a few of the items at once. Yum Yum.

My husband and I went to this restaurant and loved it. The staff was friendly. The prices were great. And the food was excellent. Would definitely come back again.

Old school restaurant. Sooo much food for the price. Next time I'm in town I will return.

  • Jennifer C.

The food is on point. Straight-up greasy spoon with good coffee, friendly service and local flavor. Not a tourist trap! Even though the place is small, they don't rush your meal. Give it a try. I'd definitely come back here.

Fast service, good food, decent price. Highly recommend for tourists who are on the Clearwater beach.

Terrible food waste of money would definitely rather go to Angie's restaurant a block away

I got their steak skillet and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend it again. The atmosphere was very diner like. Small and quaint.

This place is great! You are always received with a warm welcome and speedy service. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is great. Large servings cooled well at very reasonable prices. I'll keep going back again & again.

  • Brian R.

This is a great small breakfast place, hearty portions and great flavor especially in the Skillets. The French toast is also amazing. Great place to get away from the tourist traps near the beach.

  • Amber S.

Great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Always attentive service, great prices, clean restaurant. Occasionally, they are closed without notice, and that can be frustrating. They make up for it with quality and consistency in that quality. Great place!

    (5)
  • Nefer P.

Great food, fast service. I was worried about the wait after seeing people waiting outside. We walked in and the place is tiny but they have plenty of seating at the bar so we were able to sit down right away. Your coffee cup will never be empty

  • Andy S.

Love the ambience. Hole in the wall diners are the best! Hadn't even been served and 2 different people checking out said it was their first time and it was awesome! They were right! Eggs were perfect! Biscuits and gravy were done great! Sausage had a bit of spice! Mo and I were very happy!

  • Melissa R.

You may have heard the phrase "Food so good, you want to slap yo momma" and wondered exactly what could taste THAT good. Well, the breakfast here does! I had the biscuits and gravy with two eggs, and it was nothing short of momma slapping fabulous. Some other items of note include the kitschy decorations that remind you of your grandma's house (like the mismatched kitchen cupboard coffee mugs), and the friendly service of a family-owned business. The restaurant is small and filled with tourists and locals alike. I watched one of the employees greet several people by name but everyone with a warm smile. I would definitely recommend the Tin Can!

We decided to try this wonderful little diner while on vacation in Clearwater. It was so good, that we ended up eating breakfast here every day, instead of the free buffet at our hotel around the corner. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. The food was cooked perfectly, served hot, and in generous portions that we couldn't quite finish. You can't go wrong here!

    (5)
  • Warren R.

It should be noted that the steak and eggs are now $5.99. I went here the other day based on the reviews. Definitely a mom and pop establishment, which I like. I went with the steak and eggs, the steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare as I requested. Was this the best steak I've ever had? No, not even close. BUT, was this the best steak I ever had served with eggs and homefries for $5.99? Yes. I don't think I'll eat here every weekend, or even once a month, but I will keep it in the rotation.

Everything is awesome here! Family owned and operated! Superior service, a must visit!

  • Bridget B.

Good portions, quality ingredients and great service. Only suggestion on the breakfast skillet it came up hot and fast but could have used a little more time to melt the cheese and sauté the veggies til they were more tender. Still very good. We'd come back!

This was a first time, and it was so good. Service was on top of refilling our drinks.. Biscuits and gravy were great. French toast was thick and tasty..

Been a favorite of mine for 4 years. They see me arrive from the parking lot and have a seat set up for me at the counter with my coffee. The food is great and all of the staff welcome me with a smile and and a good morning.

Having just moved to the Clearwater area in July 2012 and living like a gypsy for the past year and a half, I was in search of a nice little local breakfast place. The Tin Can Cafe was my second place to try and now I just go back there. Their Steak and Egg breakfast is the best deal in town. The steak is a 7 oz Angus sirloin that is pretty good. They cook it to order and a medium rare comes out medium rare. I've been to steakhouses that can't seem to get that right! The service is prompt and friendly, and coffee is refilled pretty much as long as you're sitting there. I was there today for about an hour and a half, chatting with locals, and I didn't have to ask for a refill once. A great local find!

  • Matt L.

I've been coming to this family-run establishment for breakfast for well over a year & even though I'll occasionally try another place, the Tin Can Cafe is tops on my list of favorites. Great people, great food, great service...all the criteria I use when judging restaurants. The fact that they remember my order doesn't hurt either!

My wife and I were going on a cruise to the Caribbean and were sailing out of Tampa. Since my father lived in Clearwater we spent a day with him before sailing. He took us to a tiny little out of the way cafe called Tin Can. My father is a regular there and always raved about the $4.99 Steak and Eggs breakfast. When anyone says the word steak and $4.99 in the same sentence I get a little worried, especially since I had just came back from Gibson's in Chicago where I paid $52 just for the steak. I knew up front the steak would not be a 22 ounce bone in Ribeye (lol). So we all sat down in this little cafe that sat maybe 20 people. The owner, a very sweet woman who called my father by his name came right over to take our order. When in Rome is the rule of the day so we all ordered the $4.99 steak and eggs. BTW, you get a steak, 3 eggs, wheat toast and fried breakfast potatoes. The steak was probably a 6 ounce thinly sliced sirloin but was seasoned just right, was tender and easy on the palate. I don't think its possible to mess up eggs or toast, the breakfast potatoes were lacking any flavor but sure did make the plate look full. All in all, it was a nice venue to sit and catch up with my father and he got to share a quaint little cafe that we will definitely visit again on our next visit to Clearwater!!! Just an FYI....the place gets it's name from the different types of tin cans that adorn the wall sent in from customers from all over the world.

We had a full day of mattress shopping ahead of us so we decided to grab some breakfast and fill up our fuel tanks for the long journey. As you walk in you notice the feel of a small ma and pa breakfast spot. You are greeted right away which is pleasing. The location is small and old but clean which is a good sign that the back is also clean. We ordered skillets as we are from the Midwest and have yet to see them on any menu since moving here. The portion sizes are huge and you will leave full and topped off. Service was great and the young server always made sure our drinks were topped off.

Can't beat the steak & eggs breakfast @ Tin Can! It is delicious and a great price. Some fantastic people run this place, and it will always be my go-to for breakfast when I am in Clearwater.

Our first visit today, 10/27/2012 for the $4.99 Steak and Egg breakfast and I wish I had been coming here for years! Walk into this quaint Mayberry style hometown cafe and you are greeted promptly. I immediately felt like part of the community. A great find. Good food for sure.

The food is not the best quality in the world, but if you want this style of breakfast, it's still a great choice. It's family run and they are all very nice there. It's extremely small, but you can get your food to go.

first, where can you go and get an 8 oz angus sirloin, 3 extra large eggs, potatoes or grits and bread for $4.99? nowhere!!!! the family run business is terrific.. our driver told us about this place years ago and have been coming back ever since. the breakfast and lunch are the best. the prices are unbelievably the greatest around. the people that complained about the $1.00 increase in the steak breakfast, you must be crazy. we love this place and tell everybody about it. the goble's indianapolis, in

I always come here when I visit my family in Clearwater. The environment cannot be beat and the employees are always the most friendly of people. The breakfasts are spot-on and well-executed and the lunches are just as good. The prices in here are extremely cheap and you won't find a better deal anywhere else around!

Since moving to Clearwater Florida in January 14 this has become my favorite breakfast spot. The food is always spot on. Coffee is always good and hot. Great service Family owned and operated open early 7 days a week. They always run a special three eggs and black Angus steak for under seven dollars and it's quite good.

Great homestyle cooking! Small restaurant, quick service and delicious breakfast! Picked this place based on yelp reviews. Everyone's right, this place is awesome!

  • Allan W.

This place gets five stars from me as the quality of food is excellent, service is excellent, owners are on staff and they know everyone who comes in there. Many of you who have read my reviews know I cannot stand chain restaurants, this local spot takes the cake as far as I'm concerned. One note of food worthiness, you MUST have the Steak and egg breakfast. I did not, however, it is plentiful and very affordable! Make sure when you are there, to pay it forward to a local!

Friendly and Fast! Great service, wait staff could not have been friendlier, food was served quickly, and was excellent. Great value. Highly recommend

Great little spot. I took my wife, daughters and mother in law here for a late breakfast on our last day in Clearwater Beach, based on the good reviews. I had the Tin Can Wild, scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon. The eggs were awesome, light, fluffy and tasted like the just came out of the chicken, they were so fresh. One of my girls had the biscuits and gravy - which she has had three mornings in a row, as her new favorite breakfast. She thought these were the best yet. My wife and mother in law had a breakfast sandwich, which they both raved about. All in all - a great breakfast, in a neat little, well kept cafe. Go here!

I only been here a couple of time and it has only been for breakfast but each time has been great. I always get the steak with eggs and potatoes. Delicious! I also take it to go and my food is still hot when i get to work.
