Chose this restaurant from Yelp's reviews and our experience on 12/19/13 was very mixed. Some of the food was outstanding - escargot in puff pastry appetizer and duck a l'orange (when the chef came around he mentioned something about how he buys his duck not frozen, etc.). Sauces were excellent. Negatives: restaurant was busy but not super crowded and entrees took over one hour - other couple with us claimed 1 1/2 hours - I wasn't timing it, but I'm sure it was well over an hour. One item was tough and they replaced it quickly and graciously and that was OK. And the prices were a little high for what this restaurant was: one beer $6.50, our appet'zrs $8 & 11, entrees $23 & 28, shared dessert (all desserts are crepes) $12 (some were cheaper at about $7), so our total was over $100 for two, w/tax and tip. Many times after long waits, I've thought of telling the waitress the next time I'm at a restaurant, "We've just put our order in and the time is now 7:00 which I'm writing down on this piece of paper on the table. About when do you think our food will be served?" If life were only this way and I'd actually remembered to do this last night....

Great food, but a little pricey in my opinion. Location and the building is a bit off-putting, but once inside you forget about it and enjoy the meal. I would go back, but I can also get two great meals elsewhere for the price of this one...

You have got to try Salt N Pepper Bistro. Is it a bit more expensive than other places in the area? Yes. Is it worth it? You bet. Not only is the quality far superior to any other restaurant I've visited in the Largo area, the portions are really quite generous. The menu is expansive and you will have a hard time deciding on an entree (spoiler alert; they are all as good as they sound). They have a healthy wine and beer selection as well as a few classic cocktails. The chef (husband) and waitress (wife) are both lovely, friendly, warm, and passionate about great food. But the desserts... oh my lord the desserts. It's all crepes and you might think "crepes are boring" but that would make you basic and predictable. The crepes Suzete were SUPERB. The Nutella crepe was phenomenal. Cross-contaminated (think warm, melty Nutella making love to tart, sweet candied orange rind), they were heaven. Paired with a hot, strong latte I almost forgot I was in Florida. The crepes truly rival those made by street vendors in Paris. Go to Salt N Pepper, you will not be disappointed.

Relatively new, even our friends who live nearby didn't know about this place. It's a small, quiet gem. My 4 cheese crepe was very good (comes with a green salad) and my Italian soda was perfect, too. Everyone was friendly, chef came out to make sure we had enjoyed our food. Will definitely return on a future trip!

Great atmosphere...check......warm bread and butter......check........fresh and unique apps which include prosciutto and olives, smoked salmon and dill......check..........savory French dishes that leave you wanting more and more......check........hand and foot service by the chefs wife........check.........great selection of European wines........check........awesome house made desserts.........check.........chef with a French accent who checks to see if you enjoyed the meal and then proceeds to tell you how he makes each dish from scratch...........check......this place is the real deal and my wife and I will be making frequent visits when we return to town.

All I have to say is four stars for the crepe, one star for the service. Very excellent crepe! Has European quality and a very good taste. The service was completely unacceptable. Once we walked in, my son and I, it was very clean and cute, but there was one table occupied. Once we were seated, we told the waitress (owner) that we would just like dessert, because they had excellent crepes and espresso. We were told that we couldn't be served at the restaurant for dine in and had to take it to go because there was a reservation for nine tables! I mean, we would be in and out easily since we were on vacation and had to leave soon! Not the nicest thing on our vacation to experience.

Went here for dinner on Friday. Food was great. We ordered the appetizer special which was a cheesy ham and mushroom dish with pastry on top. My boyfriend ordered a savory crepe and I ordered some fresh made pasta. I had originally wanted the Bolognese but that was not available. That was the only tomato based pasta available which is what I was wanting. That was a bit disappointing but what I got instead was still really good. We got a house salad with our order and the food came out quicker than I expected. Overall it was very good. It was a bit expensive but I enjoyed the experience.

Top Notch food and service. Duck L'Orange was perfect - dessert was a strawberry/crepes/dark chocolate bundle of heaven on earth with fresh whipped cream. The attention to detail is obvious in every dish - you are really missing out if you don't try this place.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant of this quality while on vacation. This is a top notch French restaurant. I got the escargot, which was served in a puff pastry. The snails were excellent. They were firm but not tough or chewy; and the garlic butter sauce made them melt in my mouth. The pastry showed excellent technique; it was light, flaky, and the perfect complement to the escargot. I also enjoyed the Provencale. It is very rare that a restaurant makes its own pasta, and you can immediately taste the difference. The chef came out to see how we were enjoying our food and to make light small talk. He evidently enjoys his work and takes pride in it. As well he should. I'll also add that we had a one year old with us, and they didn't seem to mind.

What a gem hidden in Clearwater Florida. The crepes are astounding. The duck a l'orange was fantastic. But the best part about this place is the couple who runs it (entirely). He cooks and she mans the guests but he's never too busy to come out and chat. Great drinks selection and a wonderfully creative French menu. Yes the crepes are pricey but two could split one and the quality of the ingredients is superb. They aren't open Monday nights or for lunches but font miss this place if you are in the area.

This place is wonderful! We went here for a special occasion and enjoyed everything....the food was great, the service was friendly and attentive. A little bit of time for wonderfully prepared meals is totally understandable. This will be our "special occasion" spot to celebrate good things for sure and probably a go to spot for a wonderful meal.

Awesome! This is the real deal French food. Husband cooks, wife runs the front, the son busses tables. Excellent sauces and preparation. My NY Strip with red wine cream sauce was excellent. The crepes for both dinner and dessert were great. The bill was about $90 with a steak, crepe dinner, soup, dessert and a couple glasses of wine. Quite reasonable for an excellent dinner. Recommended, we will eat there again.

Hubby and i went there for my birthday. i chose this French restaurant because of the reviews, but unless they were off their game I was not that impressed. The waitress/owner was nice, but I did not see the warmth that was spoken about here. The French Onion Soup was really tasty and i am glad I ordered. The salad was nothing more than standard on a cold salad dish with an ordinary balsamic dressing. I had the duck breast, which came rare (I never had duck that way) and was good but not as wonderful as people say. The scalloped potatoes were done well. Creamy and very tasty. The vegetables were fresh but in a too salty sauce. Hubby had the Poulet a la Creme. He seemed to enjoy it, but was not overly impressed. I am saying this because the prices are wayyyyyyy over the top for the food they serve. We will probably not go back there because it was so pricey and we did not feel the prices for were warranted for the dicey neighborhood or the food. To be fair, we did not taste the crepes, which were also quite pricey. I have been to French restaurants with much nicer atmospheres and did not pay as much for the food.

Love this little French gem! We went here for my birthday back in July and are going back tonight since we have family visiting. More of a special occasion place for us, but amazing nonetheless! Everything we had last time was delicious and the service was excellent! Can't wait for dinner tonight! Wish we could eat here once a week!

Have driven by this place MANY times on my way to work. They are open for dinner only. Group of 7 of us had dinner here last night! Food was GREAT! It's family run French bistro, Papa is chef, wife runs front of house, son waitstaff & busser. Loved the ambiance, warm and inviting! We had several crepe dishes & duck a l'orange. Dinner crepes are savory and tasty. Defiantly big enough to share. Duck was medallion of breast(order med rare) with veg and potato au gratin. It's a leisurely relaxed dinner as everything made from scratch ..so order a bottle of wine and an appetizer and just chill. The entire family is lovely, best part of evening is chef coming to chat with us! I will defiantly return. Great place for intimate leisurely simple French dining! Ooh and save room for ANY of dessert crepes! Dark Chocolate crepe my fave!

There are few restaurants that have the skill to perfectly craft every dish they serve. Salt & Pepper Bistro does that times 1000. Not to mention this place is family owned and run and everyone there gives exceptional service. Hands down best food I've ever had. Highly recommended!

Visited there Saturday June 20th. Small intimate French restaurant. Their crepe's are their signature dishes, but have other options. Delicious food, rich flavors. Service is great. Chef came out to speak with the diners their that evening. He and wife came to US three years ago and opened. Restaurant is away from beach, but worth the visit. Good portion sizes. We were full after eating our entree's and didn't have desert. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely be back!

Our family LOVES this restaurant!!!!! Lunch or dinner...the crepes are fabulous but the sandwiches are a huge favorite!!!! Especially the salad nicoise sandwich! My son orders them to go all of the time for a meal on the run!!! So thrilled to have such a great new cozy restaurant in our neighborhood! The chef always comes out and greets us midway through the meal and always has a fun story about his life in France and his family's restaurants there, Cannot say enough wonderful things about this place!
