So we went to Pochi. What I *really* liked was the small entrance that opens up once you get in. I was apparently lucky to get reservations for this place, as I got the last table for two. Though, one of the good things out of that was that our waiter remembered that was me, and I think we got slightly better service because of it. We were seated against the wall, next to a few other quieter couples. I ordered a flight of three wines - all of them CARMÉNÈRE. I bold it because it's a red wine I've never had before, and apparently lucky to have, again, as our waiter told me that one of three had taken 6 months to get into the United States. And they were heavy and light at the same time, a more earthy finish that I would've expected, but a nice surprise and how well they went with the food! I will drink red wine with salad, to hell with the "rules" - meant to be broken - so the fact that it didn't overpower my food made it memorable. We ordered a variety of specials - a salmon ceviche and seafood empanadas as starters, and then pork ribs with sweet corn and a chicken stew as entrees. If it's possible to pick out things individually about each dish, then that is what I am going to try to do - the salmon ceviche was wonderful IF and ONLY IF you got the bits of raspberry on your cucumber slice. Otherwise, salmon is not something I would've ordered again. The waiter had recommended it, as he did the wine, so how could I refuse? Maybe I should have. Mr. V was surprised there was something other than scallops, but I told him ceviche is a dish served many ways - best cold, like revenge, but with any type of seafood, really. The empanadas were good if you ate the pastry only - sadly, I believe that meat and cheese should be the only thing inside an empanada - meat only, cheese only, meat and cheese together - as the seafood was clumped and fell out unless you stuffed the entire thing in your mouth. Which you can't because it was piping hot. However, the sauce that was provided with the empanadas was terrific! I spooned and spooned and heaped onto my pastry. I do honestly believe that if I had ordered the meat empanadas, I would've been in heaven. The pork ribs that I got were fan-tas-tic. I ate as many of them as I could (I wore tight jeans, sadly), and dipped my fork in the splendid sweet corn that tasted like it was just pounded in a large mortar by a pestle. It was roasted but sweet with a shade of spice, and very good. It actually surprised me how much I enjoyed it - I'm not a sweet corn fan, but holy! The pork ribs were sticky and greasy, and lip smackingly tender. They didn't fall off the bone, but who cares? I wanted to dig my teeth into the marrow, if I could when no one was looking. Mr. V's stew was good - but the potatoes that were in the stew were even better. The rice was confusing, but that may be because I'm not a rice fan, unless it's fried rice, but those potatoes! they were tender and smoking hot, and roasted and peeled and smoky with flavor. I kept trying to dig into his bowl looking for them and was sorely disappointed anytime I got chicken. Not to say that the dish itself wasn't good, but if I could have a side of those potatoes, then I would. Dessert was empanadas! With cheese! SO good. I think I ate those faster than I drank my wine. And then the cheesy crepe. I mean, seriously - cheese + pastry = perfection. With wine? Double perfection. Now the question is would we return? My issue was that I was picking flavors I enjoyed, rather than the entirety of the dishes themselves - save the side of sweet corn and the desserts. And then there was the...price. I think being an ethnic place had something to do with the prices, but I wasn't really happy with how expensive it was. I will gladly pay hundreds of dollars for food and wine - it just has to be worth it - experience, wine, service, and food. I got three of those four, and sadly, the fourth, the food, was the overpriced part. I may go there again, after some time, and be lighter with what I order - and smarter. These places do their old comfort foods well, usually, so they should stick to that. And so should I.

This place is fabulous! We have been there a number of times and every time it's great. The Sangria is perfect. The salads are phenomenally flavorful. The crab cake is actually the best anywhere. Forget about Maryland crab houses. You want a great crab cake - This is the place. We will be back again soon. All the dinners are so good. Go!!!

Owners are lovely and passionate about their restaurant. Excellent menu, wine list is diverse and solid service. Authentic and special.

This place is really great - authentic Chilean food. Great wine selection as well. If you like great seafood and wine - I highly recommend. Only a short drive from the city and it is well worth it! I will certainly be coming back, often! Great for a date night and if you're not from Wilmington, it's really nice change of scenery.

Open about nine months per our young and new waiter Esteban. Small and intimate restaurant serving delicious Latin food but with a Chilean flair. 08/02/13 we found the staff very nice and everyone hustling from the bartender to the manager to get drinks and food out for their customers. When visiting Delaware again I would definitely return.

Really Really enjoyed Pochi. I went because of the awesome reviews I saw on Yelp. I asked the waitress what she recommend for a cocktail and she delivered a really yummy drink with fresh blackberries. Then for dinner, I had the chilean sea bass, which was fabulous and my friend had the tilapia. Service was great, food was great. recommend it!

Wow, this place is a gem! Good places to eat in Wilmington are a rare find, especially when looking for international cuisine! I went Friday night with a group of 6 and was sat immediately. The wine list is extensive, and the dishes were tasty. I had the chilean sea bass...like butter! You don't even need a knife to eat it, it's that tender. The desserts, the Panqueques (crepes with dulce de leche) and leche asada (similar to a creme brulee) are incredible! Service was friendly and there was a sizable crowd there. I will definitely be back for more!

I went to Pochi last Friday night with a group of 6. The food and atmosphere were fantastic. We each had a different dish and we were all very pleased. The wine selection was very good. The staff was a bit overwhelmed by the sizable crowd but they were friendly and eager to please. I'm excited to have another great option for food in downtown Wilmington.

Great ambiance. Food was excellent - perfectly cooked and spiced and beautifully presented. Very good menu for both meat and fish, seafood or vegetarian dishes. Dinner served until 12 midnight so great for after show/movie. Staff were very friendly and very accommodating when we arrived late.

Dined at Pochi on a rainy Friday evening just before 6 PM. The crowd was very light upon arrival, however, by the time I departed at 6:45 PM, the place was filled to capacity. They have a great wine list and I selected a marveleous Chilean white. My entree was the Chilean Sea Bass. While it is a bit pricey, it was tasty. The temperature could have been a litte warmer, but it was a beautiful cut of fish. Service is very cordial and attentive. I would definitely return to sample a few other dishes. If you're going on the weekend, consider reservations as it is a small room.

I have to admit, I've wanted to try this restaurant for a while and I finally had the opportunity to dine here. Now I'm sure when one sees that this is a Chilean restaurant they might be intimidated. But trust me, if you love seafood or steak, then this place will be right up your alley. This restaurant is also labeled as a wine bar. They do carry a lot of wines, but it is different than most wine bars I've been to. The main difference is that they don't serve meals as tapas. The entrees are hardy and will leave you with a full stomach, but I'm getting ahead of myself. The restaurant is located on 9th street in Wilmington. It's a small restaurant. So needless to say, that when we showed up with no reservation, there was no place to sit except for the bar. I perused the cocktail menu as well as the wine list and the Pisco Sour caught my attention. I'm familiar with this drink, but I never had one, so that was the drink I ordered to start my night off. Pisco Sour definitely lives up to being sour, but not too sour. It reminded me of a margarita. For my entree, I decided to go with the Pescado En Salsa Blanca. This entree is a large piece of tilapia with mussels, clams, shrimp, and scallops served with a béchamel sauce on top of spinach. Everything was cooked to perfection. The scallops had a nice buttery taste. The shrimp were big, and there were a nice portion of mussels. This dish was very good. I was stuffed after my entree; I decided to forgo dessert. The service at the bar was excellent. All in all, Pochi is very nice addition to the Wilmington dining scene.

We went here on a whim because the Rocks were rained out. Very glad we did. Halibut Ceviche was excellent. I had the crab cake which was 95 percent crabmeat. My friend had a brisket and chicken stew with a cornmeal crust and said it was great. Two good glasses of wine. Service was friendly and helpful. I hope this place is around for a while.

Pretty good but not for the price. Bowl of seafood soup (paila marina) was 26 bucks! Seafood empenadas not very full and you only get two of them for 12 dollars. Service was good and it is a cute place, great for a date night if you have the money. Almost all of the entrees are over 22 dollars and are not big portions. I recommend their happy hour drink specials which consist of 4 dollar beers and 5 dollar glasses of wine. If I were to come back, I would try the chorillana for 12 dollars at happy hour (5-7 pm monday through friday) which consists of hand cutel fries, sauteed onions, chopped steak, and scrambled eggs. Thats probably the best deal by far in the house. Also, try any drink with pisco in it. Happy eating!

This was hands down the best crab cake I ever had. Came with a corn/tomato/arugula/fried avocado side I wanted to lick off the plate. My dining companion had a blackberry reduction glazed Chilean Sea Bass that was phenomenal. Extensive Wine, Beer and cocktail selection. We came in for an app and glass of wine, were so impressed by the Tuna and Halibut Ceviche appetizers we stayed for dinner and cancelled other reservations. Best dinner we have had in Wilmington ever. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Service is super friendly too.

The food was excellent and the service was even better! Elizabeth is very good at what she does and I can see the pride she takes in providing great service. My wife ordered sea bass and I got the prime rib and both were excellent. There is good ambiance for a romantic night out with your special one!

The lunch ceviche for $11 is very unbalanced and too much on the sour side of things. Another issue is the portion size versus the value. This was about 1 cup of ceviche for $11? IMO, a bit much for the portion, unless it was spectacular, like I've had in Lima, then I'd be more OK with it. Better quality ceviche can be had for less in many NoVA/DC area, not so trendy/fancy Peruvian joints.

Wtf. Go here and eat everything! I was in the mood for something fresh tasting. I got all this and more. Each morsel of food was perfect. Definitely get some kind of empanada and ceviche. The empanadas are ridiculously good. Perfect. We also got a hot dog that was delicious!

  • Cassandra G.

AMAZING! They start you off with a toasted baguette with this delicous salsa! the empanadas are delicious! Pick any of the four that are offered and they'll blow you away. I had the seafood stew and seafood in a white sauce. Both were so delicious. If I could pick one thing to eat as my last meal it would be the seafood stew. The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy. I will be back, OFTEN!

Outstanding from start to finish! (4.6 stars) Found Pochi on Yelp and made reservations for 7 for a business meal. I was a little nervous when we pulled up, but once inside i was immediately comfortable. This restaurant rivals many on the NY scene. The interior is cool and low-keyed. The service was perfect and accommodating. Every meal was well prepared, aesthetically pleasing and well portioned. The entrees were well cooked and the sauces complimented the meals very well but were not overwhelming. There is a limited desert selection, but who needs a million choices when you have things like Creme Brullee and Flan. We started with the Trio Cerviche appetizer (Salmon, Sea Bass and Shrimp) which was Terrific!, the Crab and Cheese Empanades (good) and the Shrimp in garlic sauce (great). So far, great start. For entrees we tried the Crabcake, which was outstanding and rivaled the cakes i've had in Maryland, but these were meatier and more flavorful. The Chilean Sea bass in the Raspberry reduction was just unreal, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Finally, we got the Pastel De Choclo: Ground beef and chicken casserole, with black olives, hard boiled eggs and a basil infused sweet corn mixture. Served in a cast crock, It was heavily spiced and very sweet. Very unique meal and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is one of the best meals I have had in years. I will absolutely add this to my "Must Eat" list for Wilmington!

Wow! I cannot say enough about this little place. From the start, we were welcomed as though they were thrilled to see us. Our server, Elizabeth, was accommodating as I knew what drink I wanted and Friend didn't. She then excitedly told us about the specials and pointed out dishes she enjoyed and said why. She described each dish perfectly, down to the size, shape, and ingredients. We started with crab empanadas and pomelo palta. The wine flights are very well thought out - and Elizabeth talked about some other wines that sounded so intriguing we just had to try! She even brought a taste of one to show something she was describing. The crabcake was incredible!! The wine flight complimented everything perfectly. All told, a great night, spent with people who made us feel like we'd been coming there for years. I hope to make that so.

Glad to find a place that sets the standard in Wilmington DE. A true diamond in the rough. Great food and good service. Had the carne empanadas and Chilean Sea Bass. The blackberry sauce pairs well with the Sea Bass. Definitely coming again.

AMAZINGLY spectacular! Words in the English language do not begin to describe the dining experience my best friend & I shared at this gem in Wilmington. This truly is a spectacularly delicious restaurant! A meal at the restaurant is a dining experience to remember. I would especially like to highlight our server Elizabeth who was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very attentive throughout the whole time we were there. There was a perfect balance of attention given to our table without ever feeling overwhelmed and she had a personality to remember. This place, Pochi brings to the table meals that have the perfect balance in quality of produce, meats and seafood, presentation, good balance in price and flavors. We had the avocado grapefruit spinach salad with pine nuts to start off with and the pastel de choclo (corn casserole with beef & chicken) and croquetas de jaiva (crab cake) for our entrees. The Pastel de choclo was a symphony of flavors with the hero of the dish being the basil infused sweet corn mash which gracefully lined a thick layer at the top of this casserole. At the bottom of this earthenware was a bold flavorful bed of beef and chicken brisket, hard boiled eggs, and black olives. This made its way to my heart immediately. The Croquetas de Jaiva featured the chef's take on your modern day bread crumb fried roll. This crab cake was to die for in which there was ZERO filler but premium quality jumbo lump crab meat paired with a corn bell pepper salad over a bed of arugula crowned with a fried avocado fan. Talk about PARTY IN YOUR MOUTH!! In a few words, this place is a must try! I can't wait to come back and make my way down the menu. Our meal ended perfectly with the chilean caramel budino which Elizabeth gracefully brought to our table from the chef. Equally scrumptious but a little on the sweet side for me. This Chilean gem brings across the owner's family recipe and will surely entice your appetite for something different than your usual Asian, Mexican, Japanese, etc restaurant. BRAVA!!!

Came here for lunch on a Saturday . The service and food was great . The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions. My friend and I both had the trio ceviche , crab soup and latin style fruit punch. The trio ceviche was excellent and very filling, the crab soup was bland but after a little soup and sugar it was very tasty. The adult fruit punch was excellent !

First time here, and I have to say it was pretty good. Service was great, food was outstanding! My wife had salmon, which was done perfectly. My son had a pork rib dish. I thought the pork a bit dry, but perhaps that was how it was meant to be that way. It was quite tasty. I had a type of beef and chicken pot pie... very tasty! This is a wine bar, but it focuses on Chilean wine, so if you're looking for CA, French, or Italian, you will be disappointed. That being said, Chilean wines are as good as any in the world. We will go back, and see if Pochi is worth a 5th star.

The place is pretty small and there's not much to look at from a decor perspective. I went with a coworker and we sat at the bar. The I had a pisco sour and a caprhenia were both good, but not great - I've definitely had better. We split an order of the mixed fish empanadas which I thought were a little dry. I ordered the crab cake since so many people have raved about it and...nothing special. It was a solid portion and the crab was pretty good, but it was just too dry. I felt like it was missing a dipping sauce - they only put a small drop on the top of it. The part I was most disappointed with was the avocado salad on the side. My avocado slices were a dark brown and I actually thought they tasted like dried up meat - not a good thing. Considering the price (we spent about $120 for 2 of us) I was not impressed overall - nor was my buddy.

Amazing!! The churrasco sandwich was perfection!!! Better than food I've eaten in Peru. Best decision to come here on our way though town and on top of everything, no taxes in DE :) Wish it was closer to home!

I came here yesterday to a mostly empty restaurant and was told all the tables were reserved and I could only sit at the bar... no problem (unfortunately, as I left, there were still tables not occupied, so yeah, boo to that!) I got a dirty martini, they make them strong, little olive juice and unfortunately, their olives aren't stuffed with blue cheese. :( Their bread service with salsa is quite good, I love the kick in the salsa, I could eat that all day! Seafood empanadas (special) was just ok, I was not really impressed. The seafood was mostly minced and while you knew you were eating seafood, you couldn't really tell if it was octopus, fish, scallop, shrimp, etc. It would be nicer if the pieces were larger and identifiable by visual and translate to the tasting experience. Empanadas did come with the same salsa, which I loved since it was awesome. I also got the seafood stew special with rice on the side. The stew was pretty good, but I was not impressed with it, nor the taste. I was hoping for variety but perhaps the stew infused the seafood and everything tasted the same...or maybe that was the plan? The rice was lightly flavored and was a good side dish to the heavier stew.

Man, really liked this place. A buddy and I were in town for a King's X show at the World Cafe several blocks away. I scanned Yelp to see what was nearby so we booked it in the rain to this place. I was surprised that on the main drag of Wilmington there were not more cool ethnic restaurants within walking distance. So, there was not a ton of competition cuisine-wise. I thought it was going to be Latina food. We were excited that it was Chilean restaurant. First time I have had this country's food. There was some typical Irish Pub deal but that looked really like nothing exciting that you can find almost anywhere. Maybe I'm wrong. We both decided to go safe and get the steak sandwich with fries, accompanied by a dipping sauce of mayo, basil, and hot peppers (I think that were the ingredients). I had almost asked for ketchup and that would have been a chump move. Definitely, pass on the ketchup. The sauce was super-delicious and a fire in the gut. I like heat if it is not stupid hot for hot sake. The sandwich with grilled steak was very tasty. It was most definitely under salted so I needed some more NaCl. Once I salted it some more, the taste had more pow. Yum. The place is upscale and we were in tee-shirts and shorts. Underdressed and a bit awkward but the staff were friendly and welcoming. Since we looked like drowned rats, it was rainier than we thought when we decided to walk there minus rain gear, we stuck out a bit. Initially, we were sat at a table right under the air conditioning vent. Since it was cool summer evening and we were wet, we asked to be moved and the hostess was fine with it. Wilmington looks like a town with some potential. Having the World Cafe in town is a major asset. The Philly World Cafe is a pain to get to and the parking options stink. In Wilmington, on-street parking is free after 6, so that saves money. If I had the meal to do again, I would be more adventurous. The steak sandwich was great but too safe. The fries and dip did add some cool and hot character to my dish so that was a big plus. I hope to get back again. Smaller cities are my favorite places to explore. Nice amenities without big city arrogance and attitude. This restaurant adds character to a town that looks like it needs it.

Yelp (TripAdvisor, too, for that matter) let me down. It happens. But not often. No way is this any more than an average restaurant. 3.5 stars is pushing it. 4.5 stars? No way, no how. The negatives: -Chilean sea bass. Multiple sea bass entrees were ordered at the table. All arrived smelling past its prime, despite being ensured the fish arrived today (perhaps... but it sure sat somewhere for too long). All were tail end cuts. Okay this is nit picky, but for $32, I would expect a decent cut. All were smothered in sauce--about what you'd expect when the protein isn't quality enough to stand on its own. Toss a pound of bland soggy wet spinach on the side as well as uninspired sweet potato matchsticks, and you've got a boring, over priced dish. One of the diners who ordered the bass sent the food back immediately. The other two of us who ordered the bass choked down maybe 1/4 of each dish--should have been sent back, but we felt bad for the kitchen. -The atmosphere. This felt like a dive with a little bit of makeup. What do they say about pigs with lipstick? It doesn't work very well. It's also very loud. Could barely hear my dining companions, sitting right next to me. Also had adjacent tables right on top of us... The room is not well organized. -The wine list. For a wine bar, this place was seriously lacking. -Glassware hygiene. Why is this in a review? Please don't shine my glassware with blue liquids from a squirt bottle. I don't want Windex in my drink. Not cool. -Want tea? Sweet is the only option. The positives: -Hearts of palm salad. Pretty good. Not great, but good. -Dining companion enjoyed the mussels he ordered. The rest of us with sea bass were jealous. The one who sent back the bass for a replacement steak remained jealous, even after the steak. I prefer to give a place a few shots before writing a bad review, but the fish was so bad and so off the mark on quality vs price that I'm not going back.

I have eaten here twice now, once by myself and once with some friends. Highly recommended by all of us. Very good selection of wine, unique and delicious food. Very good service. The empanadas are a bit unusual, considerably lighter than any of I've had -- most are quite thick dough and this is very thin and a little puffy. Very good. The "Camarones Al Pil Pil: Shrimps Sautéed in a White Wine and Garlic Sauce with Chilean Spices. $12" were very nice as well, very well cooked and seasoned. The "Ceviche De Ostión: Scallops and Shrimps marinated in Lemon, Orange Juice and White Wine Served with Red Bell pepper, Celery and Chives. $16" was also very good and unusual. The "Pastel De Choclo: Bed of Beef and Chicken Casserole, Black olives, Hard- Boiled Egg Topped with a Crust of Basil Infused Sweet Corn, Served in Earthenware. $16" was one of the best dishes I've ever had -- sweet and savory. Two of my friends had the "Lomo A Lo Pobre: Chilean-Style Certified Angus Rib Eye Steak Served with French fries, Two Fried Eggs and Sautéed Onions. $25" it might have been a little heavy for them with the two fried eggs but did look delicious. We also had some very good wine and cocktails here. The nicest restaurant within walking distance of the Hotel DuPont. Both Yelp and their website say they are open on Sunday night but they weren't open this last Sunday, not sure why. Maybe because of the Superbowl? There was no sign explaining why and they didn't have hours posted so you might want to call ahead.

The bruschetta type starter they give you free was good so were the crab empinadas. I ordered the P. Del Choclo, not that impressed, although I admit I'm ignorant to this type of food. My wife got the steak topped with eggs.. the steak had no flavor, maybe were too use to American steakhouses were they are cooked with seasoning but I tried it and it was very bland.. she added salt to it for flavor. The wine was good and dessert was OK. The waiter was nice & attentive and restaurant was quaint but I can't see how it's #1 on trip advisor and given constant 5 stars on here. Maybe it's like a movie that's extremely hyped up and at the end you're thinking, meh it was just good, not great. Overall I'd say it's above average & like I said it could be my ignorance of this type of food, but I expected the food to wow me but it fell short. If you want to try something different I'd say go for it.

Quaint. Intimate. Delicious. Unique. Warm vibe. Inviting. 2.22.14 Everyone has a story. Patricia, (Pochi is her pet name) had a dream in her native Arica Chile. Five years later, we can savor her dream over lunch or dinner with relaxing Chilean music filling the air. We started with complimentary Pebre (fresh tomato, red onion, garlic, scallions, lemon juice, habanero with buttered and toasted baguette. (So good) We shared... Peacado Grille: $16 Grilled tilapia fillet topped with lemon and white wine reduction over a bed of fresh spinach served with a side of Chilean salad (fresh tomato with onion, cilantro, lime) Amazingly flavorful sauce. Tender, tasty Tilapia. A must for the fish lover. Pastel De Choclo: $20 Bed of beef brisket and chicken casserole, black olives, hard-boiled egg topped with crust basil infused sweetcorn, served in earthenware Little spicy. Sweet. Savory. Meat tender. Caramelized in a hot bowl. Didn't have time but would have loved to try the home made pies by Pochi's mom. Pochi has earned a 5 star rating with us! Btw: they only take cash

Great small restaurant in downtown wilmington. Great space with the brick walls. The crab bisque is the best I've ever had. The grilled bread and salsa is worth the visit. The sangria is great. The quiona salad is filling and fresh.

Who would have believed that here in downtown Wilmington Delaware awaits a comfortable, chic, and amazingly delicious and authentic Chilean bistro!? A truly unique and large menu pays homage to its Chilean roots with daily specials that beg to be tried. We started with the basil Pisco sour cocktails which were perfectly crisp and refreshing and a great way to start our meal! Out came the warm flaky dough empanadas that enveloped a mix of clams, mussels, and shrimp. These were served with a spicy and fresh salsa that was a perfect match. Not sure about which of the wonderful wines to choose from on two pages the very friendly waiter had the owner himself come over to offer a wonderful and delicious sampling of some of Chile's finest reds! We each had a pour of our favorites and enjoyed entrees consisting of the Lomo a lo Pobre; an angus grilled steak cooked to absolute perfection and tender from edge to edge blanketed by two perfectly cooked eggs and a side of crisp and seasoned french fries (a true favorite side in South America) with a spicy remoulade to dip. We also ordered the salmon cerviche entrée. This was truly superb with fresh punch of acidic cool lime juice barely cooking very fresh flaked salmon with onion and cilantro and greens. What a perfect pairing of a warm comfort food with a cool and tart side! Dessert was the cheese and dulce de leche stuffed empanadas served with our choice of delicious port. An unusual companionship to see slightly salty stringy cheese fried with a delicious caramel sauce but we all know that salted caramel is all the rage and again, this dish worked well. Service was top notch, the menu diverse and enticing. Theres enough here between the quality of fine ingredients and perfect food prep coupled with an exciting menu to keep us coming back for more! The owners knowledge of regional wines was fantastic. Next time we'll go back with friends and request the 'window' seat! Don't miss this Wilmington "gem"!

I don't know what it was about Pochi that made me not like it. Maybe it was the imperious hostess, who seated us in high tops when there were low tops that remained unused the entire night. Maybe it was the server who kept pushing drinks on us (at one point, this occurred even though I had had only a sip of my beer and my date hadn't even touched her sangria). Maybe it was the fact that half my salmon was cooked medium, and half of it was medium rare. Or the fact that the bed of quinoa my salmon was served on was interspersed with really large onion chunks, which didn't really do much for the texture, and did even less for the flavor. Or that the Chilean sea bass had the texture of fresh wood pulp and the flavor of fresh rubber. Or that the spinach the sea bass came with tasted like it was secretly made of pure garlic, and the slimy sweet potatoes made me think of astronaut food. I did like the decor, though. Maybe I should've had the empanadas?

I normally would not update a review, but I can not shake the bad feeling. I decided to take a friend here last saturday for dinner well I tried to take a friend here. When I arrived the place was busy like always . I like to sit a the bar, but it was not an option ok, that's fine I tell the waiter I will take a table. The waiter tells me "oh there is a 45 minute wait" I look around and see 4 empty tables hmmmm, I say to myself. I really wanted to have the seafood pasta and the chilean bass so I say well we will do take out , they take my order, but now we are standing up in the middle of the restaurant looking awakwardly out of place. My dinner date was pissed by this time why because here we are about to spend a pretty penny on food standing up in everyone's way, we ordred drinks took our time drinking them and still those tables were empty. We did not stay for the food. I was throughly dissappointed. I may return, but no time soon .

I had a great experience at Pochi. Went here with a couple of other friends and thoroughly enjoyed all of our courses. The waitress was helpful and was more than happy to sit and talk with us about some of their dishes. Only complaint is the salads are a bit of a rip off for what you get. (But I must admit, the two salads we got were delicious.) Glad to see there is a solid restaurant downtown Wilmington.

How on Earth did this place get more than 4 stars. Typically restaurants rated that high on Yelp are spectacular but this place fell short on several levels. Can't help but wonder if perhaps some of the reviews were done by in-house peeps. The Chilean sea bass (somehow mentioned as a great dish by other Yelpers) was sub-par in every respect: thin, NOT fresh, heavily sauced (unnecessary on a good fish) and quite literally inedible. 3 of 4 of us ordered the bass, none ate even a quarter of the dish and- amazingly- the waiter took the dish away and didn't offer something else. The mussels were decent but how can this dish be messed up? Although, about a quarter of the mussels were still closed upon serving suggesting fresh concerns yet again. Take your money elsewhere and distrust the high reviews for this place. No Bueno!!

Great small, and cozy atmosphere, and an excellent wine bar. I love that it's not loud, where you can actually have a conversation! I had the tomato cream soup and the chilean sea bass; excellent. The spinach was actually "real" spinach, instead of the mushy stuff you get out of a frozen package. As for dessert, try the chocolate mousse, it's a small portion, but so yummy!

Incredible. From the wine selection to the mixed cocktails, everything was fantastic. The pastel se chocola was the best I have ever had. It will be hard to choose what to order when you look at menu. Enjoy.

Located in downtown Wilmington, this is a great find for a unique dinner. The owner is on site and very attentive to customers, detail, and the food. Food is magnificent. I usually eat light and had the Sea Bass ceviche, which was wonderfully prepared with a touch of lime and very tasty and satisfying. You know you are eating healthy. I have not been exposed to Chilean cooking, but I am a fan and definitely will return the next time I have to come to Wilmington.

During a recent visit to Delaware, my wife and I were asked to stop into this new restaurant to meet some old friends for lunch. I didn't know what to expect as I've never had Chilean cuisine and I tend to be very picky with what I eat. First, the atmosphere. I thought for a smaller restaurant, it was done incredibly well. They have about 12 tables and a large bar, if memory serves. The walls are decorated with paintings and Chilean artifacts all around, while some Chilean music played in the background (and a soccer game playing on the tv). The service was very friendly and welcoming from the get-go. The owner welcomed us in and started our initial water service while welcoming us to the establishment. We were served some bread and some sort of salsa while we went over our menu options once the waitress stopped over. The menu itself had a very good amount of variety with regards to both the meal and any drinks and wine. The seafood selection stood out the most, having quite a few items to choose from (other proteins were also available- chicken, ribs, etc). The waitress, thought not Chilean, was very knowledgeable of all items in the menu and was able to recommend some appetizers and wine. The wine selection was incredible compared to most places I've been to here in Tampa. Though they have other regional wines (Argentina, etc), the Chilean wines took up most of the selection, and were mostly recommended. I highly recommend the sangria, as it was different from what I've normally had as a sangria and was delicious. The food: Firstly, our food came out very quickly, which was surprising since they were very busy and most tables were filled. The presentation of each dish definitely stood out as something that was meticulously thought out, and not just thrown together like most places (especially during the busy lunch rush). We ordered the crab cakes ("croquetas de jaiva") and the ribs ("costillar al horno"). Both dishes were spot on and very delicious. My crab cakes were very moist and packed with more than enough crab meat. It was served with a side of fried avocado (OMG that was fantastic on its own), spinach, and a corn salsa. The ribs were also on point with the crab cakes. If you like a little bit of spicy on your meals, this was the way to go. The meat was very tender and well seasoned with what seems to be a dry rub. They were severed with a creamed mashed corn casserole type of dish. For desert we finished off with some sort of cheese pastry dripped with caramel and powdered sugar. I'm not a big desert fan, but this desert was great. The cheese nor the caramel were overpowering with sweetness. It was a very mellow sweetness that accompanied the meal very well. I would definitely order that again. In total, I really enjoyed my visit to this place. I was unexpectedly surprised by how much I loved everything I ate, that I created an account just to review this restaurant. I highly recommend anyone in the area to give this place a try, you won't regret it!

Came to Pochi for dinner on a Tuesday evening around 6pm and boy, it was quite empty...but not for long. This place wasn't not too big, and got filled up quick with groups. The interior was pretty chic with an art gallery-feel. I never had Chilean food before and was beyond excited to try! Anyhow, just so happened after we got seated, the waiter told us it's half off bottles night (for certain bottles)! Yeeya! We ordered two bottles of the Cabernet Sauvignon from the half price menu...forgot what it's called but it's the only cab on it, and it's so good! For appetizer, I ordered the Ceviche Mixto. It was supposed to be an entree but I asked for appetizer portion, and the waiter was very accommodating with that. The order came with loads of seafood and I could not get enough of the heart of palms and the house sauce that came with it. Good contrast to the acidic fish. For entree, I had the Chilean Sea Bass...*ahem* HIGHLY recommended. The portion was huge. The fish was nicely seared and so, so buttery--probably one of the best sea bass I had. And gosh, that sweet potato that came with it was so divine. I usually don't touch sweet potato unless it's fried...but oh my. There's something about Chilean ingredients combo and profiles that make me want to clear out my plate. I had no room for dessert, but the waiter was super nice in refilling water and wine for us. He was also super helpful with the menu when I asked him which of certain items he recommend. I would definitely go back if I'm in Wilmington again.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It is a good edition to the Wilmington restaurant scene. They have a good wine list and great food. I had slow cooked chicken thighs. It was not only tasty but they didn't skimp on the portions either. I went for a second visit. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first time. The cream of crab soup was too watery. The entree was good.

Went for Wilmington restaurant week and had a terrific meal. The ceviche was amazing! The service was a bit rushed by I chalked this up to being swamped with business - not only was it restaurant week but it was also "wine Wednesday" with half off bottles. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well executed. We really look forward to coming again and trying out dishes from the standard menu.

I really enjoyed my meal at Pochi. It is a cute wine bar with a nice atmosphere. They have a pretty extensive wine list. Oh yeah, the sangria is TO DIE FOR. The red sangria was probably one of the best sangrias I've ever had. The other drinks I tried were decent, not great. On to the food...the bread is AWESOME. It is pressed garlic bread with a side of salsa. I definitely asked for a second helping because I completely lack self control. The empanadas are also really delicious. We tried the shrimp and the seafood special. The seafood empanadas were delectable. The grilled shrimp in garlic sauce were delicious. The best thing we had all night was the Ensalada Roja--the best salad I've had in quite some time. There were definitely a few misses. The hot dog was completely overcooked and basically inedible. The pescado en salsa blanca was ok. The sauce was fairly bland. The fish was decently cooked. I definitely wouldn't order it again. The biggest reason I docked Pochi a star was that our waiter screwed up our entire order. He was really nice but I don't think that he understood English very well and he wasn't really understanding what we ordered. Overall, Pochi is a great addition to the Wilmington restaurant scene and I would definitely come back.

My husband and I invited our neighbors to join us for dinner. We suggested Pochi. They had heard about Pochi but had not tried it yet (we'd already eaten there twice). They readily agreed that we should all go. As we expected, they totally loved it! They called it a "hidden gem" and were already discussing coming back. The food there really is fantastic! I'd like to add a note about the wine - this is a wine bar after all. I decided to give the Spicy Reds Wine Flight a try this time (they offer two different red wine flights and two different white flights - each flight consists of three varieties of wine). I really enjoyed the Chilcas, Pais and the Maquis Lien, Red Blend but did not care for the Oops, Camenere. I highly recommend giving their wine flights a try.

I had no idea there was a Chilean restaurant in Wilmington until a friend suggested it as lunch date option. No one I know has ever mentioned this place, almost like no one really knows about it. Like most of the reviews here, I agree, it's definitely a hidden gem. Their food is unique, fresh, and delicious! We ordered from their lunch menu, the egg salad wrap with romaine, tomatoes, and palm hearts! First time trying palm hearts and I'm wanting more now. Their fries were up to my standards, but they go from nicely fried/crispy to hard in a matter of minutes so enjoy them while they're hot and right out of the fryer! We were surprised to see how big the portion was... you get 2 generously stuffed wraps that could easily feed two people, so naturally we each had one. The egg salad is GOOD, not mushy or too thick with mayo. We also ordered a vegetarian plate of sauteed spinach, mushrooms, quinoa, and roasted bell peppers. It was absolutely delicious. I have to go back to try their ceviches because it seems like everyone here yelps about it =D.

my colleagues and i very much enjoyed the food and experience at pochi, and will certainly be returning. we started with two of the empanada specials. the first was filled with shrimp and the other was more of a seafood medley. both of the pastries were good, and the seafood medley empanada had a nice cheese base to it. i also really liked the aioli dipping sauce that came with them. we also started with the ceviche, which was fresh, bright, and came with 3-4 large poached shrimp. i ordered a salad special that had spinach, goat cheese, strawberries, cucumbers, and walnuts. it was very good, and the portion was quite large. i also got a side of cooked beets, which were excellent. my coworker said that his sea bass was one of the best he had ever had, and the other two enjoyed the steak and the crab cakes. the hardest part for me was actually choosing which entree i wanted, since the entire menu was extremely appealling and seafood-based (my favorite). we ordered a bottle of chardonnay off of the half-price menu ($16/bottle, which is a great price). it was pleasantly flavored, and we ended up ordering another bottle. our waitress was extremely friendly, and i would be happy to return for another meal.

Have been to Pochi several times for dinner & once for drinks and appetizers. The restaurant is small but has the feel of a big city hidden gem. The empanadas are delicious and the hearts of palm salad is by far my favorite item on the menu. Nice wine list. Dining room can get a little loud & tables are a bit close but the service & food definitely outweigh this minor issue. Highly recommend.

I stopped in at Pochi as part of the Delaware Center for Horticulture's Garden Tour for Community Gardens in Wilmington. They were entered in the contest. I am so glad that I stopped. It was just a few minutes before noon and I thought why not. I ordered a Pisco Sour and the Salmon Ceviche. Bread in a bruschetta style was served with fresh salsa. Excellent. Then the salmon ceviche was served. Wow! The ceviche was the best I have ever eaten. It was presented on a bed of greens with a sliced avocado half on one side. Delicious. The young woman who was opening the restaurant was attentive and friendly as she went about her duties. We talked on and off throughout the meal like old friends getting reacquainted. She let me know that weekend evenings are standing room only. I can see why.

Went to Pochi last night with friends and had a very pleasant experience. The food was outstanding. We shared four entree's; Ceviche Mixto, Chilean Sea Bass, Paila Marina and Pastel De Choclo. All the dishes were perfectly prepared and delicious. Can't wait to go back. The ambiance of the restaurant is very inviting.

Currently my favorite restaurant Downtown right now. Totally hooked on their beef empanadas and quinoa salad. They make a great caipirinha as well. I would suggest that management adds another bartender on shift so the drinks come out faster. Love this place.

This is a charming little spot in the middle of Wilmington with the exposed brick walls and rustic charm of Soho. The place is super busy and the wait for a table was very long on a Friday night although the staff attempted to be accommodating to us as best they could. We ended up sitting at the bar and upon taking in the surroundings I realized that no chance was I going to give this spot up for a table. The guys working there were mind-blowingly gracious and friendly and fun....along with as I would say are prerequisites to a Chilean restaurant - foreign accent/tall/dark/handsome. Good service and friendliness gets me every time. I digress!! Back to the food...very good stuff. Empandas were delicious as were several of the salads - quinoa, avocado, tomato and the salmon ceviche. Good selection of wines. There were a lot of items on the menu worth going back to try. Fun time!

We met some relatives visiting the Delaware area at this small but attractive restaurant hidden away on 9th Street in Wilmington. As soon as we walked in the hostess had our table waiting for us. The menu while not large had a nice variety of foods to choose from. Our appetizer consisted of six nice size shrimp attractively arranged in a zesty red sauce. We then had main courses of Chilean Sea Bass and grilled Salmon. Both were well prepared, attractively presented and extremely tasty. The crepe dessert was good but not as good as our main courses. It is also a wine bar so there is a nice selection of wines for those who want to enjoy a drink with their meal. We did not indulge but noticed that many diners were enjoying bottles of wine with their meals. We were lucky to find a free parking space across the street from the restaurant so we did not have to walk very far. I would recommend this place for an enjoyable tasty meal.

Enjoyed a lunch date here with my wife during the work week. Amazing food but it was a fairly expensive lunch. I love Peruvian food and haven't had good quality Peruvian food since my days living in New Jersey and on our trip down to Costa Rica. I am so happy to have some diversity in restaurants in Delaware. Sick and tired of "American" food.

We came down from Philly a couple weekends ago. Food was great, definitely get the empanadas. We had an issue where something happened to one of our entrees and it had to be remade. So while that entree came out after the rest of them, the staff were extremely apologetic and went out of their way to make sure we left happy. We'll definitely be back.

Staying in downtown Wilmington for business on a Sunday night I was afraid I was going to have to settle for hotel snack bar fare. I searched Yelp and found Pochi only a few blocks away instead. The Empanadas De Queso were an excellent start. I followed them with the Pastel De Choclo: "Bed of Beef and Chicken Casserole, Black olives, Hard-Boiled Egg Topped with a Crust of Basil Infused Sweet Corn, Served in Earthenware." This was easily one of my Top Ten dishes of all time. What an incredible combination of flavors! The savory chicken, beef and black olives was perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the corn polenta and the fresh basil. Amazing! My only complaint was that it was served at about 500° so I had to eat it much too slowly!

Haven't eaten here yet, but love the atmosphere and the wine selection. When we first came in around 8pm, it was packed and it seemed like everyone had just sit down too because no one left for quite some time. Glad we weren't waiting to eat, it's a small place. Got two glasses of Pinot--well priced and delicious. Cute little bar, good service. Will definitely be back to try the food! The people next to me were eating some kind of seafood pasta and it looked yummy!

Start with a cozy narrow restaurant filled with hard surfaces (brick wall, wood floors, bar) and no sound dampening. Add one guitar & harmonica playing singer of adult contemporary "classics." Take Baby and me hoping for a nice, relaxing dinner and seat us less than ten feet from said singer. What do you end up with? A disappointed and frazzled couple unable to hear each other and getting a headache from the unnecessary "entertainment" and the raised voices of the party behind us. After reading the reviews here and elsewhere, we went to Pochi wanting to like it and looking forward to having a new dining option in Wilmington. But this experience just turned us off the place. Not just for the loud music but for the utter hospitality cluelessness it represents. (Note to server, if you have to bend down and raise your voice in order for your patrons to hear you recite the specials in a sparsely populated - less than 1/4 full - dining room, then maybe your musician is too loud for the room.) We can appreciate the desire to provide live background music to your diners but in a space this small, it just doesn't work and serves, if anything, to detract from, rather than enhance the dining experience. (Note to Mr. Owner, you may think the music sounds just fine, but you're sitting at the end of the bar in the seat the furthest away from the musician. Rather than taking a photo of him with your iPhone to tweet/Facebook/Instagram your restaurant's genuineness, get up and walk the floor and get the pulse of the place.) As for the food, we started with the crab & cheese empanada special - the dough was flaky and not too greasy or heavy and the accompanying sauce had just the right amount of spice. Baby got the Lomo A Lo Pobre which was solid even though her steak was overcooked. I got the Paila Marina (Seafood Soup) which was nicely flavored although it could have used a bit more shellfish (for some reason all of my mussels were shredded in the shell as though someone had ripped them apart) and it would be nice to have some bread to soak up the tasty broth. We didn't stay for dessert as we were long past our breaking point from the cacophony by then. Four Stars for the food and Two Stars for the boneheadedness = Three Stars overall.

How was this place open a year before we stumbled on it? Forget La Fia. Pochi rocks. Best meal in the region. Food on par with Krazy Kats without the foo-foo. Go downtown and enjoy a relaxing evening of amazing food and great service!

Came here tonight with my friend before the Delaware theatre Company. We had wine and split some appetizers. The decor is lovely and so inviting. Small but crowded. Nice bar and the owner showed us how he made his sangria. MUST order it next time. Crab empanadas were wonderful, the shrimp appetizer had the best "marinade" wish I had more bread to soak it up with! There was a beef pastry appetizer that was good but could have used a little heat. Quick service and nice servers. Will be back!

This place was amazing! After growing up in Wilmington, close to downtown, I am so glad to we places like this doing so well downtown. I came here with a couple of friends for lunch on a rainy Saturday. We were the only people there, but I've heard from others that it gets pretty busy for dinner. We shared a pitcher of their sangria (the one with all the berries), which was delicious and refreshing. We also shared three appetizers (corn and avocado salad, grilled shrimp, and crab empanadas) and the short rib entree. Everything was simply amazing. Such great favors, really interesting combinations, very well presented. It was maybe a little expensive, but it was so tasty!!

We had a really nice time....the food was excellent, the service was excellent and we loved the ambiance. The Emapanadas de Queso appetizer...were spectacular for a simple dish. The crust was flaky, crispy, and soft at the same time. The cheese was dead on...the special dipping sauce was phenomenal. The Croquetas were a solid appetizer but with the red wine reduction it sent my taste buds into overdrive and I was very happy. We had the Plateada Al Jugo: Stewed Flank Steak which was a rich, hearty, flavorful "pot roast" type flavor profile. I also had the Lomo A Lo Pobre: Chilean-Style Certified Angus Steak Served with French fries, Two Fried Eggs and Sautéed Onions. The steak was perfectly cooked and reminded me of great steak I had in Barcelona. The wine menu is extensive and reasonable priced and the place is a real gem. Try it...you'll enjoy it!

Went to Pochi on the recommendation of Yelp. The ambiance and neighborhood were charming. We received excellent and diligent, friendly service. We started with empanadas and a Pomela Palta salad with grapefruit, pine nuts and agave dressing which was subtle and nice. Our entrees included seafood in a bechamel sauce (Pescado en salsa blanca) which was fresh, not too heavy and very nicely and subtly spiced with black pepper. My wife had Spare ribs (Costillar Al Horno) that were heavily rubbed with spices and cooked to perfection. It came with a baked creamy corn in a small casserole that was most delicious. Although we did not partake, they had an extensive and impressive wine and beer list. Overall, the atmosphere, friendly service and distinctive food is well worth a visit.

Took a trip back in time to my past life (in Santiago de Chile) and convinced my girlfriend that Peruvian cuisine isn't the only one from that part of the world worth seeking out on the regular. We started with shrimp and cheese empanadas, which came with a really good mustard sauce, along with the obligatory (and delicious) pan con pebre (bread and salsa). Oh and drinks - piscola was as crisp as I remembered - but I had to switch to the blackberry concoction my girlfriend picked out, cuz it was awesome. By the time we got to the sea bass and crab cake croquetas it was quickly becoming quite an indulgent lunch, but well worth every penny - gracias Pochi!

I was impressed enough with Pochi to make it my first yelp review. My fiance and I went for a nice but early Sunday dinner. He had the salmon, I had ceviche mixto. Both were excellent, the quinoa with the salmon was outstanding - the best I've ever had. Sangria was definitely good, with lots of real strawberries and the chocolate caramel crepe for dessert was worth having one each - you won't want to share. Server was friendly, helpful and prompt. Honestly, I wouldn't change a thing and I will definitely go back. It's a little hidden place, but totally worth checking out if you're in downtown WIlmington for dinner.

Visited Pochi for the first time on a Saturday night and was delightfully surprised by the ambiance and friendly staff. Tried the empanada appetizer and the Pollo Arvejado (a chicken and pea casserole), and some delicious deserts. All of the dishes were flavorful and truly authentic. My friend ordered the ceviche mixto and was overwhelmed by the onion flavor, otherwise we had delish drinks and enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. My suggestion is to make a reservation for a table, or enjoy the bar where drinks keep coming! Pochi has become one of my new favorite spots in Wilmington!

We ate here last night and had a wonderful time. Yelp states it is Latin American but is, more correctly, Chilean. The decor is "refreshing". The menu is surprisingly creative w an extensive wine list. The server was very sweet and attentive. The meals were well prepared w quality ingredients. We will definitely return and hope to find the consistency required of a really good restaurant.

Tantalizing menu! I wish I could order one of everything! I settled on the Lamoa laPobre, which is Chilean style steak with fried eggs, served with French fries and grilled onions. Delish! Very good Pisco Sour too. As for dessert, both selections looked amazing - Leche Asada (baked whole milk with a layer of caramel) & Panqueques con manjar (crepes filed with dulce de leche). I settled on the crepes. All I can say is wow. Service was great too, especially for being a new restaurant. I'm ready to come back and order something else!

Amazing place!! After trying it for the first time I was thoroughly impressed! It is a hidden jewel right in Downtown Wilmington. The drinks are delicious and original, the food perfectly served on beautifully decorated dishes! The ambiance is smooth, relaxing, passionate. Their ceviche is by far the best I have tried, not to mention the empanadas! Friendly family style service.

I go to Pochi regularly for lunch with work colleagues and after work for drinks/dinner. The food is consistently fresh, tasty, and light. The empanadas and the avocado salad are particularly wonderful. Wilmington tends not to be the most accommodating place for vegetarians, but I never have trouble finding something delicious at Pochi.
