Moro is a great restaurant that changes their menu seasonally and offers awesome fresh daily selections. I prefer to order a bunch of small plates to share, with their meat and cheese platter to start. The pickled veggies are super yummy and have a unique flavor! It is a little pricey, but it's unique vibe and delicious seasonal menu make it worth the cost. One thing you MUST order is the Gin and Tonic. This classic drink is done right with the yummy addition of juniper berries!

Moro is a great place for a special occasion. It's a little on the pricey side but they often have living social coupons which we'll take advantage of to offset the price. Take note that the menu listed online pretty much never matches what the restaurant menu actually is. They do always have a wonderful tapas menu, but our go to order is for steaks. They used to feature 2 steak "specials" but our our recent visit they changed it to an a la carte option. My favorite starter is the Caesar salad, due to the amazing polenta croutons. They don't charge for sharing and will put it on 2 plates. This time around my husband got the filet and I ordered the Kobe pork chop. We shared the parmesan Mac & cheese, the bacon Brussels sprouts and the whipped potatoes. All three were outstanding!! His filet was amazing. My pork chop was a tad chewy and the iberico pancetta sauce was tasty but the ham was really tough. We'll go again and again. Great service and amazing place.

For the price I have to give this place 3 stars. The food was decent but the food is on the more pricey side. We went for a company dinner. We got the following: Truffle Fries ($8)- delicious, not enough truffle though Chef's Antipasti ($16)- assortment of cured meats, cheese, flatbread, and veggies- tasty. Goes great with wine. Foie Gras ($16)- This was just ok for me - average Veal (I think this was around $25-30)- The meat was pretty dry and it came with risotto underneath the meat. I'm not a fan of risotto but I didn't know so I ordered this. This was listed as one of their specials so I think they have different daily specials. Our waiter just mentioned veal and I forgot to listen to the rest of it. I just heard veal and was like YES getting this. I wanted the pork chop BUT they ran out!! :( Oreo Creme Brulee ($8)- Loved this!!!! Tastes just like creme brulee with an oreo flavor. love love. Best part of my meal! Service was great, friendly. We had a big group and the waiter was pretty accommodating when we kept moving around. The decor is kind of old. The price just doesn't really match the ambiance.

Me and my boyfriend went here during Wilmington's restaurant week. We wanted to try something new and this place stood out. Its a little hard to find, but its in a great unique looking building. Our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had. We ordered the chef's antipasti which was huge and delicious! Next we ordered the pork belly which was cooked perfect! Lastly we got the ribeye steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare and was absolutely delicious. I don't think we spoke the whole meal due to how delicious everything was. I would definitely recommend going here!

I was recently in town for business and needed to take out some coworkers from dinner. Not being from the area, I was relying on the recommendations of others (which is always difficult) and somehow landed on Moro. The group that I was with had never been there before and "had always wanted to try" so we were sold. We went on a Tuesday night, so the restaurant was far from packed. It's actually an odd building in a odd location. I thought for sure Google was lying to me as I felt like I was driving through a residential area rather than a place where a restaurant should be, but as usual, the gps is smarter than me at these things. The restaurant was in what I would assume to be a former row/townhome and was an interesting setup. I didn't get to explore much but the tables were well spaced and each floor seemed to have a bit of a different feel. So far so good. Drink menu was fine - lots of fun sounding cocktails and a decent wine list. Our server was decent, he did his job, checked on us on a fairly regular cadence, and was friendly enough - just lacked any real personality. No worries there though as he's there to bring us food and make recommendations, not to be our new bff! Now here's the hard part - the food. Was it good? Sure? Was it spectacular? Eh....not really. I don't know if I had unrealistic expectations and had this place hyped up in my mind but it was honestly lackluster.....especially for the price point. Appetizer -sized salads for $12? Ok but it'd better be more than just lettuce and random veggies. But it wasn't. Same for the other dishes. We tried the lobster mac and cheese, the ahi tuna app, wood roasted cauliflower, a few of the salads, and the veal and while all of it was good, there was not a single dish that was "OMG" worthy. At this price point, i feel like *something* should have had that wow factor that would keep us coming back for more, but it just fell short. Desserts as with the meal were good (especially the peach crisp/cobbler thingy) but again, it was forgettable. If I'm spending about $50 per person, I want the meal to be memorable, not just another dining experience. Anyway, would I recommend it? I don't know. I guess if someone else is paying, why not? Perhaps we just picked wrong and everything else on the menu in mind-blowing. I certainly won't be jumping to go back but if that's where everyone wants to go I'm sure there are worse places out there!

I met RJ here last night after work. He ordered me the Moro martini which was fabulous, vodka and blood orange juice. He started with the oysters and finished them before I even got there! We shared the gnocchi with shaved ricotta, cavatelli with crab meat, cauliflower au gratin, and shrimp with wasabi polenta. Everything was incredible. The flavors were just phenomenal and everything was so good we wanted to lick the plates. We ended with a banana creme brulee dessert that just melted in our mouths. We had a $60 groupon, otherwise it would have been really pricey. But the food is so insanely delicious its worth it.

Disappointing. The good: Service, private booths, and kitchen decour. The bad: Unfresh and pregrated Parmesan. The focaccia seemed stale. The Mahi-Mahi was overcooked. The truffle fries didn't taste like truffles at all. The Ugly: Adding mayonnaise to salmon tartar. Of note: The bone marrow dish was the best thing during our 4 course tasting menu(which was supposedly "adventurous"), and I definitely had better. Bottom lines: 1. I would have been very upset if I didn't have gift cards. 2. I won't be back.

Had a fantastic experience here as a post-Valentine's Day date (thanks, snowstorm). Service was fine. Booth was really roomy so it was a little uncomfortable. Overall the food was pretty great. I'd hesitate to call Moro formal but it's definitely dressy. For an appetizer we got the cheese board. Loved it. Not nearly enough pita to handle the amount of cheese, which was disappointing. Personally I'm a purist when it comes to cheese but there really should have been more. The accompanying bread was soaked in a really mild olive oil which was perfect. For the meal we got the 4-course tasting menu (up to 6 are available). In order: salmon rillette, butternut squash risotto, NY strip steak with celery root puree, and finally chocolate tiramisu for dessert. A blood orange sorbet was the palette cleanser. The salmon rillette was the best part and had a super delicious aioli with just the right amount of salt from the capers. It also had a really nice crunch to it from breadcrumbs. A very memorable experience. I could nitpick the other plates but overall I really enjoyed something about each of them.

Went in with a Groupon and got the tasting menu. Easily one of the best meals I've ever had, up there with Michelin rated restaurants I have gone to. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere is good, pretty great for Wilmington. I've definitely be going again, especially since the Groupon is still available.

I'm a creature of habit when it comes to Restaurants. @ this point I know what I like and where I like to eat. Went out on a limb and tried Moro one night needless to say I'm glad I gave it a try. Everything from the Bone marrow appetizer to the cozy booth we sat at. Maybe it was the Manhattans I had But everything about the evening was great. Have recommended it to a few good friends who have tried it and all say they will be back.

Went here for a work celebratory dinner. Was a little skeptical of the item descriptions on the menu but the combination of ingredients did not disappoint. We ordered the veggie and antipasti boards, shrimp and grits, creamed cauliflower, fried chicken, truffle fries, macaroni. Great service. The server could have been more knowledgable about the items but he was able to get answers when we asked. Will go back!

I have to say that my first dining experience at Moro restaurant was mediocre but has potential. Ok lets start with some of the things I didn't like about Moro. First, I did not like the fact that the host/manager that greeted us at the door wore an untucked semi-wrinkled faded green polyester shirt. I'm in no way an expert in fashion but since I've been told that this is a 4 star restaurant, I've expected a little more. I thought that was very tacky and unprofessional appearance. Secondly, our waiter had the personality and functionality of a iron. It just does its job and says nothing. He wasn't knowledgeable of anything of the wines and struggled immensely to recite the specials while sweating on our table. I guess he was new. Ok lets talk about the food. Our food was not poor but not exceptional either. My girlfriend and I shared the truffle fries and the special mozzarella ball with grilled nectarines. It was like everything else so far, just ok. Afterwards, I had the roasted beets salad. I thought it was good but there was only two roasted beets that were buried in the argula. I thought the pecan covered goat cheese was overpowering to add onto a small plate but then again I'm not a big fan of goat cheese. As for the entrees, I choose the 14oz New York Strip. I prefer my steaks medium rare and it was cooked very well. I did enjoy the roasted herb like sauce. It served as an good base for the steak. My girlfriend had the Kobe pork chops. She's a really picky person when it comes to food but she said she really enjoyed it. We finished off with banana creme torte and a PB&J Sandwich. The torte had a smooth sweetness and good crunch but the rum caramel covered banana tasted a little on the over-ripe side. I had a bite of my girlfriend's dessert and I was sweet and pleasant but put together a little sloppy. Overall, I would say the service could be more pleasant. The decor looks a little like a vintage diner that could use an upgrade but it does give off a very laid back atmosphere. The food was good but overpriced in my book(good thing I had a Groupon). I could see myself going there again but not any time soon.

I debated back and forth between 4 and 5 stars. When I realized the only reason I was leaning towards 4 stars was because they were out of oysters, I decided on 5. I live no where near Moro, but when I saw a groupon pop up and checked out the menu and yelp reviews I knew I had to go. We were promptly seated even though we were running 20 minutes late due to traffic. Our server was super friendly, on top of everything, and helpful with the menu. We ordered drinks and I got the sanguinello. It was a cocktail with orange vodka, blood orange, chambourd, and lime. It was refreshing and tasty. We started with the cheese board. I don't like very strong cheeses so this board was perfect for me. All mild, creamy cheeses and I loved the fig jam. For the small plates we ordered the seared gulf shrimp and grits, seared foie gras, the gnocchi special, and escargot. All was amazing. My favorite was the foie gras, so rich and perfectly cooked. I was in a food coma by the end of the meal. I typically can show restraint when I eat, but I kept going back for more. The only change I would have made was not to order the escargot. It was good, but didn't go with the rest of our meal. That was our own doing. But overall it was a great meal and I would love to go back. And hopefully next time have room for dessert.

Very Nice Experience - I received a Groupon gift certificate so on February 24, 2015 I checked out Moro Restaurant. The restaurant is a little hard to find. There is a sign but it was not lit. I sat in the bar area on the second floor. The restaurant is not large, but it is rather cozy. The bartender also served as the waiter. He was very friendly and helpful. I am by no means a wine connoisseur. I had a glass of Anew, Washington State, Riesling. It was very nice. As an appetizer, I ordered the Wood Roasted Oysters $22. They were great! For an entrée, I ordered the Grilled Kobe Pork Chop $26. I ordered it medium. It was very good, but I thought for medium it was a little dry. I took half the chop and some crispy potato home. For dessert, I had the Tiramisu Semi Fredo $8. It was also terrific. If you are looking for a quiet, friendly restaurant that definitely is special, I recommend this restaurant.

We have never been disappointed at Moro. The truffle fries are out of this world, and every starter and entree is excellent. The wine selection is a little lacking right now, but apparently they are going through a "transition." Overall, I completely recommend Moro for any occasion.

Our party of eight had a nightmarish experience at Moro. The restaurant was empty, but our meals still took forever. Then we had to send most of the meals back because the food was inedible. Then the manager and waitress were rude to us. And if that was not enough, our car was broken into and robbed. My advice: stay away.

This place is good if you've only ever eaten in Wilmington. People go on and on about it, but gosh--I'll never go again. We went for my birthday and the waiter basically didn't want to be there and didn't want us to be there. He didn't know anything. They didn't have any, I repeat, any, of the actual wines on their wine list. Sad thing bc the food was pretty good. Not stunning, but def something for Wilmington. But at those prices, I'd just prefer to head to Philly, pay for parking and go somewhere that they actually wanted you to walk in to. The meat ball app was fabulous. But it was cold and the "wine" we had with it was um....there is def a prob with execution at this place. Have wines that you list and have decent wines available. No one wants yellowtail wine with $40 plates. Work on service. A server should want to be there. They should know the menu. They should ask how then diners are doing. They should ask if the food is okay. They should generally learn what it means to work at a restaurant. I love servers and bar tenders and we tip well! It's not that I'm a snob--but if you're wanting to be better than just "a decent place in wilm", you're gonna have to do better. And you owe me a birthday dinner with actual service and wine. If you tell me it's changed, I might be willing to try it again.

This place is a hidden gem tucked on a corner on Scott Street. I've been curious to try this place after reading Craig Leban's review on Philly.com -- which seems like a zillion years ago now. My first impression was this place is small but decorated nicely. As usual, I was having a hard time trying to decide what I was going to order after surveying the menu. I decided to start my evening off with risotto that had foie gras and figs. I like to think that I'm not a bad cook, but let me tell you, my risotto has nothing on Moro's. It was nice and creamy. The consistency and texture reminded me of rice pudding. Moro's risotto is the best I ever had. For my entree, I went with the Bronzino. My fish had tomatoes and nuts that were hidden in the fish. I can't remember everything that was on my fish but it was freckin' good! My wife ordered the slow braised short ribs. I tasted a piece of hers and it was spot on. We ended the night with Budino dessert. You learn something new all the time. I did not know Budino is Italian for pudding and that's exactly what it was...a flavorful pudding. As a warning, Moro is expensive! I had a Groupon, so the bill wasn't bad at all! The service was excellent. I will go back again.

Really loved the atmosphere. As table of four we ordered various plates, everything was absolutely delicious. Menu was interesting but not over the top. Service was fast and professional. Really nice, causal fine dining. Will be back to try more items on the menu.

Our party of four had an 8PM reservation at Moro Restaurant on a Friday evening. When we arrived, it took a long time for someone to arrive to greet us. When a host finally arrived, he told us it would be just 10 minutes to set our table and that we could wait in the bar room upstairs. We proceeded there - no place to sit. The few tables there were taken. The restaurant had a slow, very low energy about it. At 8:30, I found the host and asked what was happening with our table. He gestured weakly in the direction of a couple of set tables, which I took to mean one was ours to take. Our party sat down. 25 minutes later no one had had come over to so much as pour us water or give us menus. We left, never to return again.

Good not great. The food itself is really good and was satisfied by that as well as the atmosphere. My only complaint is that it is a little overpriced for what it is. Yes I know it is supposed to be an upscale restaurant, but for the quality of the food I think it could be a little cheaper, which would put it over the top.

We have been to Moro two additional times since my initial review and had stellar service from two other waiters, one whose name is Joe. (Sadly, I don't remember the other gentleman's name....my fault as I was excited about a concert we were seeing at the Grand Opera House after dinner) The food has been totally top notch each time. We had a study in dessert that served four people....scrumptious! We also had some special small plates that were offered and they were not a letdown. Everything has just been above board each time we have been there. There is no doubt about it, Moro is pricey, but as far as I'm concerned, worth the ride from Baltimore. I cannot think of anything in our area here that even compares!

Disappointment. That's about the only way I can describe my Moro experience. Went with the wife for the first Saturday dinner seating. I had the pork belly small plate; my wife the special soup (potato and apple). The pork belly was fine. Braised and finished crispy, though the lady commented on the heavy hand that salted the dish. The soup was similarly OK. Though, honestly, they could have skipped the theatrics and just made it a sweetened radish soup. It would have accomplished the same objective. Mains were the salmon with macadamia nuts and pineapple, and the scallops. Everything about the salmon screamed shallow, garish new-American bar & grill fair. The texture of the fish and accompaniment pretty much blended together. The sweet things were too sweet. The salty things were too salty. The scallops, however, were the worst. Fishy (even for scallops) and salty. Even better, my wife proceeded to assemble a small rampart of grit along the edge of her plate as she picked the sand out of her mouth. Charming. Look. We do seafood. We do up(per)-scale cuisine. Of numerous varieties. We generally know what to expect and have a fair (and not unreasonable) bar we expect restaurants to meet. If I did not have a LivingSocial that afforded me 50% off our meal, I would have been livid being charged what we were for the quality food we had. //sarcasm// I guess we should have just ordered a bucket of truffle fries. //sarcasm//

Moro is one of the best restaurants Delaware has to offer. From the succulent steak, to the crispy and decadent truffle fries, the salads, and the drinks; I love it all. It's always perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is awesome; the perfect place to take a classy lady on a date. Hidden nooks where you can isolate yourself with your girl, the lighting, and the smell is amazing. The service is also good, the staff can be as unobtrusive or as showy as the mood demands it to be, but they're always friendly. This place rocks.

Service and ambiance were great. The cheese plate appetizers was amazing. Was a bit disappointed in the sea bass special - maybe because of the pork sprinkled on it. For dessert we tried the s'mores which was decadent but totally worth it.

This place came recommended to me, saluted as one of the best, if not the best, Delaware has to offer. Yes, the entire state. But this first state is also a small one, so let's take that with a grain of sea salt. Let me say that driving to this place was awesome, because it's nestled in the middle of a residential area, and the restaurant itself is a house. It's dimly lit, it's romantic as a candle at midnight, it's as quiet as 4am morning. It's soul warming. He and I chose the tasting menu. So while I like to pull up the exact menu of the restaurant and explain the dish, for this, I cannot, as it was entirely up to the chef to create what we ate. And, as always with my tasting dinners, I ask the waiter and the chef to take it slow. I enjoy my food, as it's meant to be enjoyed, I enjoy my company, as it's meant to be enjoyed. Along with my vodka martini and three olives, of course. First plate was a bowl of small baby scallops in a creamy sauce, leeks, fried basil, with Parmesan grates slightly over the top. Now, I'm not a scallop fan, but my date was, so after a few bites, I gave him my remainings. Prior to the beginning of the tasting, the waiter had asked if there was anything we were allergic to, etc. My date had proclaimed "no bones", a kind of fear of fish, but I kept quiet, much to his displeasure when I advised of my scallop displeasure when this dish came. Bucket list item # 2-Never say no to eating or drinking anything once. There are only two things I will not eat again, and scallops are not one of them. He enjoyed them, I felt the cheese was overpowering. Second plate was also seafood, this time baby clams in a tomato broth. A spicy tomato broth, chilies bright against the orange. There were also stewed tomatoes hanging on top of the clams, which were sweet and succulent, bites of the ocean that lay only minutes away from our table. Again, I gave some of my clams to him, tenderly spooning over the shells to be desired. Third plate was a little more interesting. It was simply a tomato salad with popcorn shoots. Which, according to my dining partner, tasted more like lawn than popcorn. But of course. Doesn't he know that tomatoes and popcorn do not go well together? The tomatoes were enjoyable, fresh and almost creamy, but nothing quiet special. The shoots were strangely applied, and pushed to the side (I am Shel Silverstein). Beautifully presented and I loved swirling my fork around into the colors, because, quite frankly, the sauces were good compliments and very well done. They were light and...saucy. I am full of literary license today. Fourth plate was what I had been waiting for. Venison. Rarely on the West Coast (where I'm from) do we get a meat that is as heavy and gamey as venison. And this was no different, mine being medium rare (as ALL meats in restaurants should be). Mine was cooked extremely well, the meat being almost the entire plate, with the juices streaming out after each bite. Venison has a very potent flavor, making my mouth water as I describe it now, so anything on the side of it will be lost. His was slightly overcooked, but that came from the mistake of ordering it medium well, against my wishes. He won't do that again. Fifth and final plate was a small dessert. It was an Italian ice, which was so splendidly simple and good that it made my night. It was so refreshing after the heaviness of the venison that the serving of it kind of reflected a good taste and style from our chef. I was extremely, extremely, happy with the end results of this meal. This takes one to the count and makes the list. I loved the setting, I loved the food, I loved the experience, and I deeply loved getting dressed and having a martini. It was really something to remember. A hidden gem, in the oldest of states.

EXCELLENT restaurant in Wilmington. My parents live in Kennett and swore by Gilmore's in West Chester, but have since looked for a new favorite. Moro will certainly be that restaurant. Service was outstanding--I highly recommend asking for Joe H. He was knowledgable, funny, and extremely helpful in his recommendations. Our cocktails appeared instantly. I ordered a champagne and elderflower cocktail which I thoroughly enjoyed. I recommend trying one! We ordered soup/salad, one small plate, and one large. The dishes all seemed very adventurous, and I confess I was unsure if they would measure up. My initial hesitation was quickly dispelled! I loved the acorn squash soup, my red beet gnocchi, and salmon over sweat potato puree with grilled pineapple vinaigrette. The gnocchi was what I referred to as life-changing: one of those dishes that will never leave your top 5 list. I can't wait to go back. I asked for a glass of red wine with my meal and Joe gave a list of the wines by the glass including personal preferences and recommendations. Again, his recommendation was spot-on and I loved the wine he recommended. All in all, excellent restaurant with a wonderful staff and service. I can't wait to go back. For three people, four courses each, and five drinks our bill barely broke $200. Pricey, but considering the food, service, and portions, totally reasonable. This restaurant will thrive and definitely receive my business again.

Finally got back to Moro for a special occasion dinner with DH - and we were in for a treat. FANTASTIC service and cocktails (All were $10) and great wines (as always). DH had a smooth, delicious Malbec. My cocktail (and later iced tea) had blood orange (aka Moro) juice in it. Best bite of the night? Watermelon salad with pine nuts and flash-fried basil. Super delicious. We enjoyed the risotto side (a steal at $5) and duck breast entree. The ony disappointment? The "classic" bolognaise sauce (atop perfectly home-made strotaprezzi - yum) had a sour vinegary note to it and I did not love it. We were too full for dessert but nearly ordered the spring special - a strawberry rhubarb crostata. (We passed - we were just too stuffeed.) A memorable, beautiful, gourmet evening. Can't wait to return! Does Wilmington know what a gem this place is???

This was my first time here and I used a Groupon. Great little find. The food was great, as was the service. I had the half chicken, which came with grits and garlic spinach...awesome. Hubs liked his salmon until he tasted my chicken. LOL He also had the fried oysters, which he raved about. I had the small plate w/ angel hair pasta and rock shrimp. It smelled kind of funky according to my husband, but I thought it was awesome. They make this tasty Moro punch that is non alcoholic. They make their own focaccia also. I wish I remembered my server's name b/c he was really nice and helpful. They remembered my note that it was my husband's birthday and the hostess told him happy birthday. Dessert came out on a happy birthday plate with a candle. Very classy.

The menu has a section for small plates and a section for main courses, but the small plates are much more interesting...everything here is good, but some was outstanding. The scallops, for example, were among the best I've had, and I could have eaten plate after plate of the light, crispy calamari (on the specials menu that night). Some things fall flat; there was this cheese en croute on the specials that night that was undistinguished, and a pork belly that didn't really do much for me (probably because the only time I eat pork belly is on a pork bun at Momofuku in NYC, so it's really not a fair comparison). The cocktails are nice; I had a Moro Fizz and a Pomegranate Cooler and they didn't blow my socks off, but weren't bad. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly, so for service, five stars.

This is probably the best meal I've had in Wilmington and I'm not exaggerating. Everything I ate was excellent and well cooked. The highlights were definitely the seafood dishes such as the Branzino special and the Salmon. The cocktails were also tasty; yet, they also sort of tasted alike as many of the ingredients are either the same or interchangeable. The Bundino dessert was also extremely noteworthy--I seriously gobbled it up in seconds because it was so good. The only downsides of this place are the prices, especially on the specials. We did not think to ask how much they were and were very surprised at how expensive they actually were. Next time I will definitely avoid the specials even despite their deliciousness. I'll definitely be back!

You would never even know this phenomenal restaurant was here. Tucked away on Scott Street, a friend told me about it, and we treated ourselves as a Christmas present to dinner here. We did the four-course chef tasting, which I absolutely love b/c it's always the best of the best, and I love being surprised and seeing the chef at their most creative. She had gotten the five-course tasting before, and said it was "too much food," though I'm sure you can ever get enough. The rock fish was phenomenal. So was the gnocchi. The wine was yummy too--not sure if they offer wine pairings with the chef tasting, I would have liked one though. I can't wait for an opportunity to come back here though I'd save it for a special occasion.

I love this place! The food is amazing, the bar is great, the service is fantastic. Make sure you make reservations, do not just walk in there expecting a table right away! Everyone there is so knowledgeable about the food and bar, they make solid recommendations if you are not sure what you want. One of my all time favorites!

Finally made it here after years of trying to get here. Delicious! The menu was creative and eclectic. After reviewing the menu and hearing about some fabulous specials, we chose a vegetable board and a cheese board as starters: both were well done and generous for the menu price. The salads were next: mine was a wedge with onions, bleu cheese, and crispy (yummy) bacon. My husband had an apple salad with marcona almonds and greens. What we ordered as entrees were listed as 'small plates' on the menu. My husband had truffle gnocchi, which were delicious. I had shrimp with grits, also excellent. I wish that they had been on the menu as large plates, as I could've definitely eaten more, and I would've been willing to pay more for a larger portion as well. My only suggestion is a recommendation for a few more vegetarian entree choices in each category. The gnocchi was the only available plate (small or large) for my vegetarian husband and all of the salads featured a meat of some kind. This place is a great choice for a date or special celebration.. it's on the caliber of what people typically travel to Philly for. There are no other places in Wilmington like this one. It's a gem that few people know about and maybe it's better that way! The service was excellent..which was a wonderful experience compared to what is so often the usual half awake service experience.

hmm... I would say it's around 3.5 to 4 stars~ it's quite the petite restaurant, but I love the circle booths for 2, perfect for couples to have an intimate date! I had somewhat higher expectations for this place from all the pretty pictures on the site... maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but the experience didn't wow me... starter: creamy spinach oysters entree: 16oz sirloin + half portion of the rock shrimp with calamari da frio I love eating not-raw oysters! and whenever i see the chance, I'm the first one to be on the bandwagon for novelty. But yea... It sounded exciting as the guy listed the specials .. however, the bread crumbs and spinach in cream took away all the flavor from the oyster... so it felt like I was slurping on just spinach and artichoke dip minus the artichoke... kinda disappointing b/c I felt like a fatass after sucking what felt like just sauce.. sirloin was alright nothing special however... the potato cake that accompanies it was interesting. Essentially, it's their version of potato puree. They did put corn in it so that was like whooaaa I thought only my mom likes to put corn in mashed potato... lol anywayz the sauce they had on the steak is very garlicy-- I liiike but i felt like I could've made that steak at home... Pasta... very spicy! I don't know if the pepper bottle's lid just came off and a mass of pepper went into the pasta or I'm just weak sauce... I had trouble eating it because it was a tad too spicy for me... the rock shrimp and calamari was a misconception... I thought it would be fried and lumpy.. instead it was like.. fishing plankton from the sea.. ah wellz, the sauce was still pretty good and the portions are definitely very generous. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff... I wouldn't mind coming back and trying other dishes next time. Got to look out for another groupon/livingsocial!

I shared 3 small plates with a friend. I love the selection of small plates. Came here because of a Groupon and will definitely be back! Knocked one star because service was a bit slow and my friend had a cocktail that had so much artificial lemon flavor from the citron vodka that it was undrinkable.

I cannot even tell you how disappointed I am with this restaurant. Hearing talks of people saying that this place is "fine dining", one of the best DE has to offer, and etc... made me excited for this restaurant but boy was I wrong. Appetizers: Tried the cheese, cold cuts, foie gras, oysters. All were delicious. Esp. the foie gras. Salads: Duck confit salad. Amazing! Entree: -Duck breast: Extremely over-cooked, taste like rubber. -Risotto: Average, not the best I've had and certainly NOT "fine dining" quality. -Sea bass: Salty and didn't like the flavoring -Mac and Cheese: Good but not the best -Rib-eye: Good. Probably the best thing on the menu Desserts: Awful... and here is the WORST part. The Chocolate souffle: So when I order chocolate souffle, I expect chocolate souffle. I was craving souffle and when I saw it on the dessert menu, I was thrilled! But when it came out it was NOT a souffle. Instead I got a hard cake/brownie chocolate thing. First if you are the chef PLEASE look up what a souffle is and do not make false names for your dessert. A souffle is a lightly baked cake made with eggs and it is suppose to be served in a ramekin with a puffed and light texture. Instead I got a hard piece of ...(you fill in the blank). This dish should be label chocolate cake/brownie but NOT souffle. Overall if you just judge the food, I would give this place 3 stars. But the high price for the quality of food overall and the chocolate "souffle" being mis-labeled did it for me.

We got to the restaurant early and the rest of our party was still on their way, so we waited at the bar. There was a great selection and a very friendly bartender. Our dinners were all amazing and our server very knowledgeable (we peppered him with questions about ingredients and wines). When our entrees arrived, we were all very pleased. Two tips: arrive early to get parking close by and there are stairs to get into the restaurant so make sure you can make it up to get inside.

Yes! I love Moro. I enjoyed the cheese plate and their duck gnocchi. It's the type of food that is equivalent to someone giving you a warm hug. It was probably one of the best meals I've ever had. At least top five.

No way is this a 4 star joint. I've been three times in the past 1.5 years and prior to today, each time walked away wondering how this place is so well regarded, and each time promising to give it one more shot. Third time's a charm, and I won't be going back. Biggest offender this third time: the cooking. Went with a daily special of rockfish. It was served skin on, which immediately highlighted the poor execution of this dish: the skin appeared steamed and leathery. No crispness at all. Fail. The fish was served on top of a vegetable fritter of some sort, but the second failure of this dish rendered my palate incapable of tasting delicate flavors: the fritter was served over the top of an apple jam incorporated cocktail sauce. Yep, you read that right: cocktail sauce. W/ rockfish! I'm all about creativity in cooking, but somethings just shouldn't be attempted. Couple poor execution w/ mediocre to poor service (waiter forgot to bring out our salad course before the entrees were served), and you are far from four star worthy. Especially at the price point Moro charges. And this was not a one off experience. This was my third, and final disappointment w/ Moro. I want to like it, I really do (this town needs more foodie establishments), I just can't get on board.

I just moved here from LA, and being a low and high end foodie in a LA or NYC sense, I was worried about Wilmington. Not so much now. I take my friends from LA here when they're coming through--and all are more than happy with the tood. It's certainly five stars for what it is--a very fine high end restaurant, not a top 200 in the country, but a place where the meal is memorable and every one leaves super happy musing that it would have been good to have stopped five bites ago but the food was too good to leave it on the plate. The ceasar salad with polenta croutons is great--tangy and fresh and the croutons are really good. Their scallops are always fabulous. The veggie sides have been quite good. The bread could be better. And it would be nice if the clientele was more diverse. I'm often the only person of color there--and this is Wilmington after all. But I'm happy to be and to dine there. And will again, many, many times, I'm sure.

I had eaten at Moro once before and was not impressed enough to return given the bad parking. However, this was pre-Yelp days so no review. However, my friend told me that there was a change in the executive chef and the food took a upswing. Returned for birthday party and had some excellent food. Started off with several appetizers consisting of a diced beets and some parmigiano. Beets were sweet and tender with a good offset by the saltiness of the parmigiano. There was also bruschetta with an olive tapenade. The tapenade was soft and juicy with a good balance of sweet and salty with just a hint of brininess to it. Caesar salad was fairly standard lettuce with an average dressing, unsure if there were true anchovies mixed in or not. I did appreciate that the salad was lightly dressed and not drowned. The standout was the croutons which were soft and moist with a flavored crisp crust. Surprising in a good way and a bit of cheese to each bite, definitely the best salad crouton I have ever had, period. I did sneak some of my friend arugula salad which was fresh, peppery, and lightly dressed, but alas no heavenly croutons. Meal started off with some gnocchi with broccoli rabe and a sweet sausage. Gnocchi were tender with just the right amount of bite resistance for good mouth feel. The creamy gorgonzola sauce was thick and rich with crisp fresh rabe. The 2nd pasta dish to arrive was a tagliatelle in a bolognese sauce with a mirepoix. The mirepoix was sweet and crisp but not crunchy which would have clashed with the pasta. Pasta was well made, soft and velvety with a good bite to it. This was some of the best tagliatelle I have eaten since stopping by Felidia ad Becco in New York. It was a party get together and I sampled several appetizers and pasta but then had to jet for a work shift. The food was excellent with rich and flavorful ingredients that were brought together as wonderful dishes that were a delight to eat. Despite the bad street parking I will return to Moro for more meals and update my rating after a full meal.

Heard about this place and wanted to try it out. Took the wife out for a date night. The atmosaphere is very nice and upscale. The service seemed slow to me for what was not a very busy night. As for the food, th eappetizer of tomato mac n' cheese was good, though in retrospect, it just taste like average lasagna, For dinner, I had the special, a 14 oz NY Strip, with Nashed potatoes and bacon kale. The meal was excellent. Overall though, I don't think this place will be on my regular rotation. The food is good, but not good enough to be as expensive as it is. For the price, I would take Iron Hill or Harry's over Moro.

Delicious food, great bar, awesome wine list. We love this place. I skipped an Andrew Bird concert to go to dinner here one time, which for me was a considerable effort. I left fat and happy. Be prepared to stay a while and to spend at the $$$ level. If you are prepared for that, you will be able to settle in and enjoy yourself. In fact, I need to figure out when we can go back. This would be a great treat for Valentine's Day or an upcoming birthday...

Overrated! I was looking forward to visiting this restaurant with some local friends who said it was one of the best restaurants in the city. The menu looked interesting and the specials sounded good. Then they brought out the food... All four of use ordered the special cheese appetizer, a wedge of cheese, lightly floured, fried and placed on what was described as a salad of tomatoes and greens. We all felt that the dish was bland and did not live up to the description. There were two thin slices of tasteless tomato and few greens. The entrees were not much better. Two of us ordered crab cakes. They were loaded with filler and very salty, so much so that neither of them were finished. An English pea risotto was bland and ordinary. The bronzino was not deboned well, although it had the best flavor of all the entrees. Side dishes of Brussel sprouts, broccoli rabe, and truffle fries were good. The food was so mediocre that we decided to skip dessert. Our bill was a whopping $144, which was pretty high for the poor quality of the food. You can eat much better food at much lower prices elsewhere. I would not recommend Moro.

My lady bought a groupon for this place. It ended up being a good experience. The food and wine selection was pretty tasty. We liked it enough to make reservations to come back again and planned what we'd get before leaving the restaurant the first outing.

As always Moro did not disappoint. Came here Saturday with a girlfriend for AA date night. We sat at the bar and had a great time. We were there for almost 3 hours chatting it up with the bartender Jim who was probably one of the best bartenders I have ever had. We did cocktails to start I tried the guava Collins and my "date "ordered a mojitio. She was bummed they didn't offer a muddled fruit option but enjoyed it. We did wines with dinner the by the glass list isn't very large but there are great options for all palates. We started with the crab gratin-flavorful and chock full of lump crab meat and cheese so creamy and good. Caesar salad -with polenta croutons!!! dressing was a little salty but I always get it on the side so I was able to use it sparingly. Beet salad- grilled beets goat cheese and pepitas very fresh and hearty for a salad We split the gnocchi's amtricana . They were plump, puffy clouds of delishsness the spicy sauce it came in was flavored with pork cheek (not my cup of tea) we ordered it with out. Dessert -Budino was good a nutella bottom topped with caramel whipped cream- You can never get too attached to menu items at Moro because they change it up frequently but I did hear that some old school items might be coming back so im keeping my fingers crossed that the lobster mac is one of them . Always a 5 star

Great food, service and wine! I love this place so much I got engaged here! I have travled the world and would put this in my top ten (and I lived in Las Vegas for a year). Ask for Mike when you go he was very helpfull with the menu. The prices are very good for the quality of the food but it is not cheap expect to pay about $200 for two people (2apps,salad,2dinners,deserts and a good med priced bottle of wine)

In a first in more than 30 years of dining out, my husband and I, sheepfaced, sent back both entrees at Moro. Appalling. My boar was reminiscent of an undercooked pork chop and my husband's bronzino was so fishy he feared to eat it. Both replacement dishes -- squishy pasta with seafood and dry filet eignon -- missed the mark. But by then we just wanted to get the H-E-double hockey sticks outta there. We are $150 bucks poorer but ever so much the wiser. Sorry, Moro. You cannot rest on your laurels. This was a special occasion night for sophisticated patrons who found you sorely lacking.

First time I went, I was visiting my family and my BF found this gem for date night. It was absolutely phenomenal. I live in NYC and have slightly become a bit of food snob so I was overwhelmed when we came here. The food was so great!!! Second time we went for New Year's with my best friend and her husband. The food was great but not as spectacular as I had remembered it the first time around. Salmon's great. Duck was ok. Brusselsprouts were good. But the mashed potatoes were a nice surprise!! Great! Definitely the best restaurant in DE that I've been to in the past few years.

I'd been wanting to try this place for years, and finally went on a Friday night, with a Groupon. Service: Young but friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Food: Pretty good. Not divine, but pretty good. Nice presentation. Outstanding appetizer, though both entrees were a touch on the salty side. Atmosphere: Nice, good lighting (somewhat dark, the way I like it), but the booth we were sitting in had seen better days.

Incredibly disappointing meal, other than the antipasti my entire table was underwhelmed by everything we had. It had been a number of years since my last Moro visit and I understand their switch to a slightly lower priced Italian menu and small wine list - I figured the kitchen would still be just as good as previously. However, I have to say that the kitchen apparently isn't Italian and just doesn't seem able to make it work - the eggplant arancini for $12 was lacking eggplant and the rice was very overcooked and hard on the outside as well as giving it a charred flavor (and $12 for arancini? Even with the supposed 30 year balsamic that seems high for 3 small balls of rice). The mascarpone potato gnocchi were so hard and uniform that I'm confident they came out of a package and the accompanying bolognese ragu was fine but not even as good as I make at home - and I'm not even Italian, just someone who loves good food. The other pasta we tried was angel hair with shrimp and crab - this time a large bowl of disappointing pasta (they didn't even bother to separate the strands when cooking) and other than some spice in the miniscule amount of sauce on the dish it was largely tasteless. I had hoped that Moro might make some of their pastas fresh in-house but apparently that is too much to expect of an upscale Italian restaurant. In terms of entrees, the veal with spinach, tomato, & mozzarella was such a disappointment that the person who ordered it only had a couple bites and then pushed it away. Definitely on the salty side and you could hardly taste the veal under a heap of spinach, tomato, and mozzarella - kind of makes you wonder what they're trying to hide. Regarding the whole Branzino which I ordered cooked Provencal, this should have been a winner but it was average at best with very little of anything but a couple very large roasted tomatoes to accompany the fish. The only hit of the night was the first Chef's Antipasti course with 4 different salumis, 3 cheeses, and a lot of grilled vegetables. Even here it didn't include the "house-made mozzarella" that was promised on the menu but overall it was a good (and large) plate and we clearly should have stopped there or maybe gone with a steak which Moro has historically prepared well and is hopefully more in line with the kitchen's skill set. I definitely won't be back, it's a shame because I have so many great memories of food and wine at Moro in days past but with this new incarnation I wouldn't be surprised if they were closed within a year unless things somehow improve.

My wife and I were in Wilmington for New Year's Weekend and had a wonderful meal at Moro's. It is tucked away on a side street and I never would have found it if not for the reviews on yelp. The food was fantastic, our waiter's knowledge was so-so but it was New Years so he may have been new (he was attentive and friendly just didn't know his menu or wine list as well as some of the others). We had the Oysters, a Salamo plate, a wonderful winter vegetable salad, Cesar salad and for entrees we had the Duck and the lamb chops. Everything was prepared perfectly. Well worth a visit, it is expensive but well worth it for a special evening.

It's rare that my husband and I get to have a date night, especially on a Friday. So when we have the opportunity, its pretty exciting! A friend of mine suggested Moro since they had a current Groupon that was a great deal. We made a reservation for 8pm and when we arrived, it was super busy and they didn't quite have a table ready so the hostess asked us to wait in the bar, no biggie! Neither of us were starving and I'm not gonna hate on a drink on a Friday night! The bar was pretty tiny, only about 5 bar stools at the actual bar and maybe 3 hi-tops? However, we were able to snag seats at the bar and hung out there until about 8:30 when our table was ready. Once we were seated at our (tiny) circular booth downstairs, it took our server about 10 minutes to come over with menus and water...he didn't even introduce himself, which was weird. It took him another 15 minutes to tell us the specials and we had to ask him for drinks. It was definitely 9:00 before we ordered, 9:40 before we got our salad & small plate starter. I had the grilled watermelon salad that was a special, and my husband had lump crab augratin. Both amazing. The salad was so good, I attempted to recreate it in my kitchen last night! For our entrees, I had butterfish and he had scallops. Also both amazing. We rarely do it, but that night we ordered dessert. Drunken s'mores and mint oreo cheesecake. We were the last of our server's (maybe) 4 tables to leave around 10:45. So while the service wasn't amazing (everyone is allowed to have an "off" night), the food definitely was, and my husband still tipped the dude like 25%. We will definitely be back!

Usually have a great experience but this past time there were a lot of issues. First the bread paired with the Crab dip was overly salted and the asparagus was very dry. In addition had a reservation a week in advance and though we were one if the first customers in Moro's that night we were seated directly behind the hostesses stand. This allowed us to hear how rude the manager was onsite who berated an employee and treated them like dirt. Regardless of needing discipline an employee, any manager with half a brain knows it should never be done where customers can see or hear it. This had been my wife and I's favorite date night venue and on the way home we decided to move our business elsewhere. While the food is adventurous and typically delicious, we don't want to go a place that doesn't have the respect enough to treat their patrons correctly. Sadly this will mean we will no longer be able to enjoy their fantastic Drunkin' Smores. Hopefully the cooks will leave this place and take that dish elsewhere.

I thought food was very good. The menu has always been very big, and diversified. The specials were unique, and there were about 10 of them. The server was a little raw, but he was attentive, and took care of us. The food came out extremely fast. I am talking about 4 minutes for the apps, and another 20 for the entrees. Way too fast (if there is such a thing). Barely had time to breath. Will absolutely go back.

I used a group on for the second time to go here. The first time I went it was good but without the group on I would not have gone back. Also, we told them we each had group ons and they never said anything but when we went to pay they said to read the fine print and only one group on per table. If you are using group ons to get patrons to come back this isn't the way to do it. We spent a lot of money and probably would have come back but now won't. It's just good customer service. We had a good dinner not great. The foie gras was cooked perfectly, the fried oysters were good. I had the duck breast and it was brought to me well done and the second time almost raw but would have been good had it been cooked the way I asked for it. Someone else had the scallops and said they were cooked perfectly. The special was veal and was quite salty. The biggest complaint was the noise. I've never had an issue in a restaurant before, could have been the customers that night but we couldn't hear our guests across the table.

Hmmm came here for 2013 Wilmington Restaurant Week and wasn't terribly impressed as I usually am by Moro. My fellow yelper made a reservation in advance for us 3 girls at 8:45pm and although we arrived on time we waited 15 minutes to be sat. Our table was upstairs and in a nice secluded area. Our waiter was a great guy but when he brought me the menu I was saddened to learn that it had changed from earlier in the day. I am a planner and for restaurant week I know what I want when I arrive. I had to change my desired order due to the appetizers and entrees changing. I got the chicken spring rolls for an app. They were good but I would be ok in life if I never ate them again. Then I got the hanger steak entree. I am new to meat again, especially red meat, so when I ask for medium I don't expect big red chunks of cow. I ate most of it, probably bc it was late and I had been at happy hour earlier awaiting dinner and starving....it tasted pretty good but like I said being new to meat again the level of redness kind of grossed me out. Well, the drunken smores was phenomenal as was the cappaccino post feasting. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars and I will probably not return for restaurant week at this location again....just a regular night for dinner when I have money (or my main squeeze is paying!)

We always enjoy Moro and like to eat at the bar. The $20 burger was somewhat unremarkable, although it was grass fed beef. Not sure where else in Wilmington you can get grass fed beef?

OMG the best pork chop ever! It was a special so I hope it is offered again. It was 14 oz of pure goodness. The filet was also wonderful cooked medium rare as requested. Always good here and wonderful selection of libations. True neighborhood gem.

Given that there are not a lot of choices for good food in Wilmington I will give this place a 4 stars. The food is good and consistent. Very nice mediteranean food, nicely flavored, has the right bouquet. The restaurant is odly located in a house, and the table locations are odd, but this is definitely a place to go in Wilmington. It is closed for lunch, too bad.

Tried Moro for the first time tonight after hearing good things. I ended up settling on a 3 rating. If I was rating the restaurant on the food and the service, I would give it a solid 4. Dishes were interesting and tasty, and were worth the price imo. What brought them down imo, was the wine pricing. OK, I was prepared to spend on the food, etc - that didn't bother me. But, typically, if I wine I buy at the liquor store goes for $15, I expect to pay double, maybe 1-3 bucks more, so $30-33, and I find that holds true from most good restaurants I frequent. At Moro, my $13 bottle of wine was on the menu for $35. That was a VERY heavy markup, and pushed their rating down to a 3 for me, since I like pairing wines with my meal. :(

Thoroughly disappointed with this place. I'd heard from several places that this was the place in town to go if you love food and you love the 'real thing'. Um...no...this place is definitely not the real deal. And that's my biggest gripe with it. I love restaurants that are true to themselves whether they're opulent, slick & trendy, tiny hole in the walls, or bar food. They just have to be true to their nature. I took this place to be new & trendy. The decor was nice, but it's all downhill from there. The wait staff wasn't very knowledgeable about their alcohol or their cuisine.(!?!) The food sounded great on the menu, but taste and reason when it hit your tongue just wasn't there. It just left you with a feeling of either being fooled or being guided by the inept....maybe both. Though if you don't eat a lot of great food you could let yourself get fooled by this place or you could recommend it to your fast food loving friends.....

Moro, a modernly decadent refurbishment nestled in a residential enclave, is the two-story cathedral of Delawarean locavore cuisine. With the fare as its gospel, consider me part of the congregation.

Been searching for a fav restaurant in Wilmington for 4 yrs... Search is over! The Maytag blue cheese is creamy the Moro Cosmo is dreamy:-) had to ask about vegetarian since the menu had none. Chef offered to create a surprise. Already planning our next visit and who to invite. Can't believe we found it in

I've visited a couple times, hoping for some sort of "wow" reaction. But it just isn't there. The food is decent, the service is variable. The sense I get is that these folks are just sort of tired of doing what they do, which is a shame because Wilmington could really use a decent upscale restaurant. That said I'll probably try yet again because the options here are so limited and I hate to have to drive to DC or New York just to get a good meal.

I was originally going to take Baby here for her birthday but after reading some mixed reviews elsewhere, I didn't want to take the risk of disappointing her on such a momentous occasion. But I figured we should at least give it a shot (especially after reading the glowing reviews here) and for the past few months we've been trying to go but ended up having to cancel our reservations three times for one reason or another. You think I would have gotten the message that this was not meant to be. But, hey, what can I say, I'm stubborn. Baby and I finally made it there for dinner on Saturday evening and we were underwhelmed, to say the least. Nothing was awful, but it just wasn't the transcendent experience we expected given Moro's reputation (as well as the prices). And the service left a bit to be desired. Although there were only two of us (and the restaurant wasn't full), we were seated at an extremely large booth for four that wasn't at all conducive to the romantic mood we were hoping for. It was uncomfortable to eat at as I was so far away from the table I found myself hunching over to reach my plate at times (and I'm not a short person by any means). The hostess was friendly and seated us promptly. The waiter, however, left a bit to be desired. He was rather impersonal to the point where he barely acknowledged (and seemed, at times, to almost ignore) Baby when describing the specials and when we placed our orders (he did say, "Good choice" to me but it seemed less than entirely sincere). Also, for such an intimate place, there were too many people involved in serving us. Not only was there our waiter and the food server but a third person brought out the dessert menus for us. It reinforced the message that our waiter couldn't have been bothered. Baby got scallops for a first course and duck two ways for an entree while I started with the pappardelle with duck followed by an onion-crusted yellow snapper. Baby's scallops were OK but served on pasta that looked (and tasted) like a dried-out or raw ravioli. My pasta was fine and the dish good but nothing extraordinary. Our entrees were similarly acceptable but were nothing extraordinary or memorable in the least. I was also struck by the fact that the evening's entree specials were just steaks distinguished only by the chef's over-the-top saucings. Continuing the trend, dessert was similarly unremarkable. I had a chocolate semifredo which wasn't bad but the chocolate base was extremely hard making eating it a bit tricky. Baby got what was described as a Peach Cobbler (which she makes a wonderful version) but ended up being a shallow dish with a few thin slices of peaches covered by what looked like granola topped with ice cream. The topping was just sprinkled on without having been baked and did not impress Baby at all. The Jelly Bellys on the way out were more satisfying than this uncreative dish. We were not impressed at all and don't plan on returning.

On a family trip to visit Winterthur, I wanted to find a special restaurant in Wilmington. I found one, thanks to jamesbeard.org The Chef of Moro had been invited to cook at the Beard House a couple of years ago, so we decided to go. It was a wonderful experience. The wait staff was professional and knowledgeable. The food was EXCELLENT. We were delighted to try their special Oysters Rockefeller and they did not disappoint. Every other selection was wonderful, particularly the beet/arugula salad. This is a little gem in an out-of-the-way spot. HIghly recommend.

Beautiful decor with a serene atmosphere, in other words upscale, trendy or very nice. Quite an extensive menu. Lots of choices and most of them sound mouthwatering. What was ordered. - 12 Raw oysters topped with a pineapple, corn salsa - I ordered the Kobe Pork Chops Saltimbocca w/ prosciutto, argula and melted gorgonzola with side order of Crispy onion strings & Vidalia onion with white truffle risotto - My fried ordered the Rack of lamb served on top of Broccoli Rabe/Mashed potatoes which my friend said was the Second best rack of lamb he has ever had in his life. - Dessert: I ordered the Banana Cream Pie w/ Rum caramel sauce and my friend ordered the Peach Creme Brulee with Cinnamon Gelato. The food was delicious. Excellent. Highly recommended. Will return to try other things. Definitely a splurge as it is a bit pricey. Check out their online menu to get an idea. The actual menu varies. They also have daily specials. Parking is on the street, no private lot. The only comment is that the freshness of the raw Oysters were inconsistent, here is where Union Grill was better.

One of Delaware's finest restaurants. Moro is an excellent upscale eatery worthy of a Seattle food snob. A great place to spend an evening with friends, the decor is modern and intimate. The staff is courteous and well-trained. The menu is extensive. Wine selections are well thought out (the pinot noir selection was particularly appealing). Cocktails are beyond reproach. Our first course consisted of homemade mozzarella with lightly fried basil leaves and tomatoes - love at first bite for an east coast native transplanted to the west coast. Add to that an appetizer of grilled shrimp over risotto accented with tiny bits of crystallized ginger. Delicious. Despite the varied menu, our rather unoriginal dinner party of 4 ordred just 2 entrees - grilled shrimp over truffled mashed potatoes with chanterelles and spinach and filet mignon (prepared 2 ways). Everyone loved their entrees, complimenting the complex savory flavors. Dinner was completed with an order of apple-blueberry crisp and an order of carrot cake with pumpkin ice cream. All opinions were highly positive. Don't miss if you think you love food.

For being tucked away in a little neighborhood, this place was very nice and upscale! My husband and I split the antipasti for 2 as an appetizer. Nothing out of the ordinary here, but everything was yummy, and the balsamic on the veggies was great. The fresh baked focaccia bread with Parmesan cheese on top was delicious. Husband got a special of the day, Filet with whipped sweet potatoes and grilled asparagus. Everything amazing, especially the Filet, and they did not skimp on portions for the Full size. I got the Pan Seared Pennsylvania Duck Breast. Duck was fantastic! I wasn't a huge fan of the creamy Parmesan polenta (could be that I'm not a huge fan of polenta. The garlic broccoli rabe was EXTRA spicy. I usually like garlic, but this was a little overpowering. We got the chocolate tart with espresso whipped cream and pistachio gelato. I would come back and just order the pistachio gelato; it was that good. All in all, a nice place to have a fancy dinner in Wilmington!

I have heard fantastic things about Moro in Wilmington, but I never managed to make it out there. A few weeks ago however, I was on restaurant.com , and managed to pick up a $25 gift certificate to Moro for something like $6. Ok - no reason to delay any more! My fiancee's birthday was just on Jan 15th, so I decided to take her there. I had checked out the menu online, and was pretty impressed. Wilmington has a ton of great Chicken/Steak/Fish restaurants, but not much in the way of slightly more exotic things like duck or foie gras. According to their menu online, Moro had both of these things - in the same entrée even! Pennsylvania Duck Breast stuffed with Foie Gras. Sounds good to me! We headed out to the restaurant. It's tucked away in a pretty residential neighborhood, and parking is a bit tight. We wound up parking several blocks away, but we were pretty excited and didn't mind the walk. The inside of the restaurant is great - I wish I had taken some pictures of more than just the food. There's an open kitchen that we were about 4 feet from, with huge chunks of Jamon and Proscuitto sitting by a hand cranked deli slicer. Yes. This is good. I took a look over the menu, and saw a duck breast - but no foie gras. To be fair, their menu online does say that it's just a sample menu, but I had been looking forward to that foie gras. I wound up ordering Tuna Tartare, and a whole Bronzini Agrumi, with orange, preserved lemon, olive oil, sea salt and fried basil. My fiancee loves lamb shank, and one of the reasons I brought her to Moro for her birthday was their lamb shank. When she went to order, we were told that it was not available because it was still braising. She was a bit disappointed, but ordered lamb chops instead. When the food came out, I forgot all about the foie gras and lamb shank. The tuna was fantastic - chunks of tuna with avocado, and they came together in to a great cream in your mouth when you chewed them. The fish was perfect as well. It was a whole fish - head and tail on, but deboned from the inside. I didn't find a single bone anywhere, and the Agrumi preparation was divine. All in all, it was a great experience. I'd have liked the foie gras duck breast, but wound up being very happy with the fish, and would love to come back again. I'd certainly rank Moro up in the top tier of restaurants in Wilmington (My other two favorites at the moment are Eclipse Bistro, and Krazy Kats at Montchanin). It is also one of the more expensive places that I've been to in the area - but - with the restaurant.com gift certificate, it was a lot easier to handle. It was worth the full price, but it's nice to get to try it for a couple bucks less. I have a few photos here thisiswhatimeating.com/2… I apologize about the photo quality. My auto-focus was flaking out, and I didn't want to use a flash in the middle of dinner at a nice restaurant.

Over-priced. Wilmington is not NYC. Food is not bad but the price is a killer. Went with a Groupon, but would not go back. Pretentious menu. Five Guys is better.

We were visiting from out of town and our friends took us to Moro. It was outstanding. We had a lot of the specials, but the regular menu items we had were terrific as well. The salumi plate was great, but the fresh mozzarella caprase salad was amazing. We also loved the lamb chops and I was really wowed by the pork belly--it was perfectly crisped, but my dining companions weren't quite so impressed, so maybe I had the tastiest piece of the belly. The desserts weren't quite as amazing. They previously had a banana cream pie on the menu that was actually the main reason we went to the restaurant, but our disappointment that it was gone was tempered by how terrific the meal had been so far. The cheesecake was great, the deconstructed carrotcake was fine and the pear w/spiced poundcake was disappointing for two of us, but enjoyed by two of us, so maybe it's for those that prefer more subtle desserts. The service was great, just like you'd expect at a fine dining establishment, but we didn't really ask for much guidence. We wanted to do more of a shared, small-plates style meal and he did a great job of making that work.

Great place- cool location, parking a little difficult (no big deal) great use of the building and the interior is laid out so well. The service was exceptional and I am very critical of servers ( I know I am a pain). Great menu and wine list. Our server was well versed in all aspects of the menu and the recoomendation for pairings were dead on. The Ahi Tuna Tartar has to be one of the best courses I have had in the past several months. Just perfect-hmmmm. We shared the Anipasti and everything was done just right. I cannot say enough good things! Go there!! Experience it for yourself.

Enjoyed the wine pairing with the menu selection. We had the red cabbage and almond soup (from the specials), Chef's antipasti, House made gnocchi, Rock shrimp cappellini. The flavors were outstanding. The chef was very accomodative. Some of us were vegetarians and he modified the dishes for us. Will definitely go back.

Great meal at Moro. Rib eye with barata was phenomenal as was the angel hair pasta with lobster. Wine list is really well done with a lot of older vintage wines. Vibe was a little dull for a Friday night keeping it from getting five stars.

Came here with a buddy for dinner at the bar. Started off with sulumie. Good stuff. They do this well. Had a salad & half portion of the duck breast. All the food is good. We had to go about 6 deep before we found a wine that they actually had available. A totally non-plussed situation. Wow! Out of 6 wines we wanted? The one we ended up with was not something I'd have again, and the bartender let us down on this one. I really should have called the owner the next day but failed to follow through. Anyway, the food IS good, and I liked the vibe in the small bar. Would be interested in knowing if anyone else has had a problem with wine availability or if it was just a fluke thing....

I'm so disappointed that I waited so long to eat here. I still don't know why! This was one of the best meals I can recall eating in Delaware. We started with the antipasti, which was insanely good. The drunken goat cheese was incredible, especially with the prosciutto and shaved copa. The roasted veggies and what was the most delicious aged syrupy balsamic were all perfect. Next, I has the foie gras served over a little grilled cheese sandwich that was frankly enough. I mean enough because I could have stopped there. It was insanely good. The foie was buttery and velvety with the perfect sear. My wife enjoyed the autumn wedge salad which was covered in the most delicious smoked bacon buttermilk dressing. Next, Jessica had the special which was a grilled riby eye the sized of the plate! This thing was huge, juicy and full of flavor. I think it was accompanied by garlic mashed that were so creamy, they could have just been butter...I'm not sure. Perhaps there was a potato in there. Unreal. I had diver scallops served over a squash puree that was as rich and creamy as Jessica's potatoes. I wish I could have tried dessert, but there was no way there was room. I can't wait to go back. It has to be soon because I saw the tuna tartare on the next table and I have to have it!

One of Delaware's finest restaurants. Dynamic cuisine with flair and creativity. Don't miss this Trolley Square gem. Parking is an issue (no parking lot), however, as well as accessibility for the handicap (one must climb steep stairs to enter).

We were with a party of 7, celebrating a friend's birthday. To begin with, the service was below average. We had one of the more condescending waiters in recent memory. We were given attitude when we asked him if the cheeses were pasteurized because my wife is pregnant. He even came back to the table to further argue this point later in the evening. He was then asked if he could make a pasta dish vegetarian and he proceeded to tell us that the kitchen was too busy so he could not ask the chef if the chorizo could be omitted. One person with a lactose allergy asked him if he could hold the cheese in a dish and once again without even checking with the cook he informed us this would not be possible. Later in the meal, we overhead him telling the adjacent table that it was not his fault that their entrees were late. The food was over salted and over priced for the quality. As soon as the waiter learned we were not staying for dessert, he swiped the menus from us and walked away. Never did he once say, "Thanks for dining with us." When I complained of our experience to the manager, he seemed rushed, quickly apologized and walked away. You are better off to drive up to Philly and get the Vetri experience at Osteria- that is fine Italian dining.

As a preliminary, the food at Moro is beyond wonderful. I took my sister and her bridal party to Moro for a bachelorette dinner. I made reservations two weeks in advance and requested (and was promised) a special table to accompany our large party. Indeed, I called the week of the party to ensure that the restaurant was aware that it was a special occasion and to confirm the large table. Again, I spoke with the restaurant the night before the dinner to confirm the reservation. When we arrived, we were seated at a small table - not the table I was promised. No one even approached the table for ten minutes, at which time we had to ask for water. When our appetizers finally arrived, there wasn't enough room at the table to set the plates down. One of the girls had to hold her appetizer plate (which we also had to request, since none were provided) as she ate. At that point, I went to speak with the manager, Corby, who assured me that he would try to accommodate us and take care of our appetizers. Fifteen minutes later, we were moved to a larger table (still not the table that had been promised) and waited an additional twenty minutes for dinner - which were served by a different waiter. The manager never came by to check on the accommodations or apologize for giving away our table, or for the poor service we had experienced thus far. When we received the bill (which was several hundred dollars), none of the appetizers had been "taken care of." I spoke to the waiter and informed him that the manager offered to take care of the appetizers, at which point the waiter apologized and left to make the correction. The manager then came to our table and announced that he felt that he had accommodated us by moving us (mid-meal) to a larger table and that he would not be "taking care of" anything. He then chastised the entire table and accused us of berating him at HIS restaurant. He then left the original check on the table. The entire party then sat there for ten minutes waiting for the server - or anyone - to collect our payment. No one came. Rather than leave several hundred dollars in cash on the table, I gave my money to the bar tender and left the restaurant with a very bitter taste in my mouth. Although the food was fantastic, the service was so poor and unforgivable that I will never return.

Moro is an enigma. When they get it right it's pretty damn good. Having said that it's a fine line because when they miss it seems tenfold because of it's reputation and price. When they let you down you really fell slitted. The menu tries to be unique but seems to try to hard to do so. Moro seems like a high-end restaurant for people that don't know much about really fine dining. I am a steak guy all the way, however when your here go for seafood type dishes or duck dishes. Solid wines and dessert as well. If your going for a special ocassion or are not in the position to spend these prices on a regular basis you might not want to take the risk with this place because of the well documented "bust" factor. Having said that the atmosphere is beautiful and great for romantic nights with your girlfriend. I say give it a shot if the prices don't bother you otherwise spend your money elsewhere.
