Great place. Not much better that I could find like it here in Wilmington. Enjoying their pad Thai this time but everything is pretty good and affordable. Great atmosphere

We eat here a lot! They're inexpensive and consistently good food. The hostess is very welcoming and cute. Usually even when they're packed they still have quick service. I deducted a star because we have gotten the wrong order a few times but it was still good.

I still have mixed feelings about this place after visiting a dozen or so times. The Sushi is simply mediocre. The rice is consistently undercooked and flavorless, and the small portions of fish in the Nigiri combine to make the experience much like supermarket sushi. The rolls are just plain sad. The two-roll lunch special seems like a bargain until it arrives. The rolls are maybe 3/4 of an inch thick, with rice sparingly around the outside. Featured rolls are drenched in sauce, masking any flavor of the fish. The best offering is the Times Square roll, which is served with the sauce on the side allowing you to put just the right amount on each piece. Service is ok, but not consistent. The other items are quite good, the crispy rock shrimp is great, the dumplings are nice (although the shumai is bought-from-the-supermarket frozen and reheated) and the bentos were a good value during lunch. Salmon was well prepared and not overcooked, the teriyaki sauce was flavorful and not overpowering. If you are looking for good sushi, this is not the place for you. Takumi is right down the road, go there. If you are looking for a hibachi dinner, some good appetizers and steamed dumplings, give this place a try.

One of the better places to get sushi in Wilmington. I got the avocado and tomato salad-thr balsalmic vinegarette dressing was really sour so I'd recommend getting it on the side or trying the ginger sauce. There was plenty of avocado for $6. Salmon avocado roll-$6 super fresh and comes eight pieces Udon-typical udon noodles with tempura shrimp (2) and an egg along with chicken in the soup. It was super filling and a lot of noodles. $14 Service was kind of slow but friendly! I'd be back for more sushi, probably not the udon. There's a parking lot so plenty of places to park. Its in a shopping center with panera.

We came here for the first time with some friends who love the food. When you first come in there is a small bar off to the left. We started with some drinks there. We were a party of 4 and had a reservation for a table, but the bartender was so engaging, he talked us into sitting at a high-top table in the bar section so he could be our waiter. For starts we split the fried cheese wontons, and a Blackstone roll. The Blackstone was excellent. I tasted one of the wontons, and it was average, nothing fancy. For dinner I had the General Tso's chicken. There take on this was a spicier upscale version on what you would get from your local takeout. It was very good, and you got a decent amount for the price ($13). The table split multiple sushi rolls as well, but I didn't sample any. Everyone said that they were all good. A few that they tried were the Wilmington, Black lava spider, and the Kamikaze. We also had quite a few drinks and went with the fried ice cream and a mango sherbet for dessert. The bill was around $180 for the 4 of us, which was somewhat high for this type of food. Minus the alcohol, and it would have been a really good price. Next time, we may go for takeout and drink a bottle of wine at home.

Very good asian food. Their curry is amazing and the atmosphere it's a small hidden gem. Prices are a little steep for the location, but definitely a good asian fusion restaurant to bring out of Towners to.

  • David D.

Good, open-air environment with a strong energy to the place. Servers are fast and furious, and the crowd is dynamic. Food is good Asian fusion, where the highlights are more so on the salad side (very fresh greens, interesting sauces) and the crazy rolls if you're into mayo and tempura dishes. The sushi, otherwise, is very standard to underwhelming. The rice isn't any different from Uncle Ben's. I did not detect any mirin or sake to bring out the Japanese flavor. Fish is limited to tuna, albacore, salmon, whitefish (unspecified, maybe fluke), and cooked shrimp. They have some other options on the menu, but the servers were unfamiliar with them and did not know if they were available. That's a clear sign that they'd be raiding the freezer for items such as uni, so I opted out! Wasabi is fake, and the servers' hyperactivity gives the impression they want tables to move. They could be more refined in their manners.

Sushi was fine, but the service was a bit weird. We ordered a bottle of sake and you would think we ordered something crazy. Apparently, they don't serve it much because they gave it to us in 2 huge wine glasses (pic attached). And the service overall just seemed a bit off. The positives: fast service and nice ambience for a strip mall restaurant. In the end, Le Shio was alright, but I prefer Takumi which is only minutes away.

Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. Definitely would NOT say it's the best in Wilmington. Had dinner here last night and the waiter was rude and inattentive. It's not a pleasant experience when you go out to eat and have to be on the look out for your waiter the entire time.

August 2011... This is some of the best sushi in Wilmo right now. The service, however, is a different story. Our first trip there, one of the staff freaked out causing a scene. The second time they were blatantly understaffed and our waitress was rude. They are Slow and inattentive. I def recommend the food but don't expect good service.

The dishes look amazing ... However, the food is salty. I will not come here again... Argh! Do you want to come to a sushi place , where there is hair hidden in your food & you found out about it half way in your food? Got chicken teriyaki & it smelled like masala ( as in Indian food ) ... Last time I checked it is a Japanese place ... This place is horrendous ! Please try not to go ! Go somewhere else to eat..

Love their roti! Atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. We have been there twice and both times were very good. Stumbled upon it out of the blue and will def be back to try even more food :)

This place has great lunch specials that cater to all the business customers in the area. Two sushi rolls with soup/salad for $8-9 or plenty of entree options such as your standard General Tso's, Pad Thai, Lo Mein, or even Thai Curry for $7-8. The portions are pretty good and the price is well-respected. The atmosphere is decent too. They serve you quick and have multiple different waiters making sure you're in and out and they attack you with water for those that complain about dying of thirst while dining out. Check out the sink in the bathroom, too. It is quite the art piece. I will never go out of my way to go here, but while working along Concord Pike, there are few better options to lunch at.

  • Caitlin M.

So I have never actually been here for dinner, but have been here for lunch more times than I can count. Their lunch deal is insanely good. You get a soup or salad and your meal for $8-12 depending on what you order. Food comes out fast, fresh and delicious. Definitely on my lunch rotation!

Have eaten here once & gotten take out many times. Fan of their pricing and quality. Typically we go for the Sushi Loves Sashimi, which is delicious and well priced. The biggest compliment I can give them is I'll drive an extra 20 min round trip to pick up, rather than ordering from places closer (Hockessin / Pike Creek). I'd give 4.5 stars, if one was able to..

    (4)
  • Peter M.

Ordered take-out. Don't know if in-restaurant order would have been better. The sushi was undersized compared to sushi at any other restaurant I have been to. And for what we got, the price was high. The fish was fresh and delicious, but the rolls were the size of a quarter rather than a fifty cent piece, which is what I'm accustomed to and why I've given only 3 stars.

So amazing. I really enjoyed my times square roll and birds nest appetizer. My boyfriend does not eat fish but was able to find multiple things appealing to him and got a great steak combo with a side of lo mein noodles. Great service and also a small bar section I'd like to try out!

My daughters favorite restaurant. I also really enjoy it for dinner and lunch. Very nice Decor and good food. Good place for a business lunch. I really like the make your own wok creation, sushi and special lunches.

This is probably the best sushi in northern Delaware. Imaginative with fresh ingredients. The soups and roti canai are also very good. The business lunch hibachi dish is very good and filling.

I just finished my first sushi lunch from this adorable establishment. At $9 for two rolls and your choice of either miso soup or salad, the lunch price was very reasonable. The restaurant itself has an open concept and the decor is visually pleasing. It's a bit dark inside, but I personally enjoy that. I was a bit disappointed with how small the rolls are overall - among the smallest I've ever had. I chose the miso soup and couldn't bring myself to have more than two sips as it tasted unusually sweet, a flavor I've never associated with miso. The fish was fresh and tasted great. It's a shame the portion is so small, as this could have been a regular lunch spot.

I lost count how many times I've been to Le Shio in the past, but I've never been disappointed in almost anything I've eaten there, and the service is usually good. The trick is knowing when to order take-out vs. when to dine in, as this place can easily get crowded during weekend nights. Late Friday night (12/26), my boyfriend and I came here with my sister and her husband for dinner. Our server was very nice, if a little timid (she pronounced her name "Yenise") and she brought our food out relatively quickly. For starters, we split the shrimp shumai appetizer (about 6 dumplings) and they were delicious, if a bit on the small side. As for drinks, my sister ordered a glass of Geikkekan plum wine. I took a sip and liked it so much my boyfriend and I ended up ordering a second glass to share between us. It was sweet yet tangy and had a rich, robust flavor. My sister's husband had a bottle of Kirin Ichiban beer, and I decided to play it safe and stick to water. For my entree, I had the Spicy Dancing Kani and Famous Han rolls. Both were excellent, although I think the Spicy Dancing Kani edged out the Famous Han slightly in overall flavor. It was topped with shredded, cooked crab meat and stuffed with avocado and tempura flakes. I honestly don't know what the sauce was, but it was mildly spiced and did not overwhelm my taste buds. Highly recommended. The Famous Han roll was topped with salmon and filled with tamago, striped bass, and avocado, and it was drizzled in a brown sauce that I at first thought was soy, but it tasted more like mirin mixed with soy and vinegar. Also quite good. And the portions were a decent, manageable size. There are some sushi places I've been to where the food is good, but the sizes of the pieces they serve are so huge you can't possibly fit them in your mouth and have to end up nibbling away at them (and ultimately make a mess of the roll and yourself). Not the case with Le Shio. Bravo to them for demonstrating portion control. My sister ordered the Sweet Potato Tempura roll and individual pieces of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, barbecued eel and shrimp sushi, along with salmon roe. I tried some of the Sweet Potato Tempura and I really enjoyed it; it had a crunchy layer above the rice that added a nice solid texture to the roll. I also had the tuna sushi and liked it. The best roll of the night for me was the Stacy roll my boyfriend ordered. It was topped with avocado and stuffed with spicy tuna. Absolutely delicious. I will make a point of having this the next time I come here. My boyfriend also had the Yellowcab roll (yellowtail with scallions), which he liked. I didn't have enough of an appetite to sample anything from my brother-in-law's plate, but what he had looked tasty: a Philly roll, a Twin Tuna roll (seared tuna with fried onions and avocados and topped with spicy tuna and a wasabi sauce), and a Kyoto Tempura roll (shrimp tempura with cream cheese, also topped with spicy tuna). I did have an appetite for dessert, and initially chose a slice of red velvet cake; sadly, I was denied the pleasure of eating said cake, as Le Shio ran out of them. So I got the chocolate caramel cake instead, while my sister had the pistachio cheesecake. Unfortunately, here is where I have to subtract a star. My dessert was good, but reminded me of one of those Toll House or Duncan Hines "microwave-bake" desserts you pop in the microwave for 30 seconds to enjoy after dinner. The actual cake was a little on the dry side, and the caramel filling inside was hot enough to almost burn my tongue. My sister's dessert wasn't bad, per se, but it didn't taste like pistachio, or cheese, or anything really. It was also very cold, which suggested that it was taken straight out of a refrigerator before it was put on a plate. In short, if you come to Le Shio, be sure to stick to sushi and leave dessert alone. ;-p

This is a very mixed review, because I had a terrible salmon sushi roll, but my fiance loves their sesame chicken. The salmon roll was sloppily made with barely any rice and salmon. It was the most disappointing roll I have ever had!

Excellent food! I had the 'Omakase' (= surprise) menu already for the second time tonight and can highly recommend it. My friends from Singapore who joined me tonight were also impressed (and they can get excellent Sushi every Day).

Speaking as a huge sushi lover and a picky diner, this is def one of the best sushi places in DE. They have a variety of simple maki rolls as well as more creative and complex specialty rolls with amazing presentation. I mainly come here for the creative rolls because no other place has impressed me as much as this one. The servers are usually fast and attentive. While it's a good sushi spot, their kitchen entrees are average. During my most recent visit, I sat at the sushi bar with my boyfriend. The new head sushi chef gave us a free appetizer (not on the menu): white tuna tempura with spicy tuna and crab on top. For our meals, I had Black Lava Spider roll- soft shell crab and avocado, topped with eel and black tobiko; squid sushi; and my boyfriend had the teriyaki beef bento box. He said the beef was dry and rough to chew, it also lacked in flavor. Our favorite was the black lava roll. The texture of the soft shell crab complimented the soft broiled eel on the outside. It was flavorful as well. The only thing I don't like about this place is that the portions are all relatively smaller than other sushi places, but not the smallest I've seen either. It's all forgivable because they keep the fish in big portions. Ive also had other things on the menu during previous visits. I strong recommend the Bird Nest appetizer and Fiesta Pizza as well.

  • Anthony B.

The quality of sushi, presentation, and service are great here. I think the menu is a little pricey for being located in a strip mall, but the quality more than makes up for the added cost. If you are looking for a quality experience, you'll find it here.

Meh. I had wanted to try this place for a long time and finally got to the other night. I think I waited too long as this place is clearly past its prime. Miso soup was just like any other Japanese place. Shrimp Shumai were likely from Trader Joes. Store bought for sure if not. Ordered duck confit rolls. They are supposed to be wrapped in scallion pancakes but ours came out wrapped in tortillas. WTF? Don't know who they think they are fooling. Split a sushi platter with my fiancé and it was not the worst sushi I've ever had but not even close to the best. I tried to order one of the more expensive sakes off the menu but the waitress kept trying to steer me to the warm house crap. Stating too many people don't like the other stuff or some nonsense. I know sake but whatever I went with beer instead. Other drinks were not bad. Probably won't go back.

As far as sushi and sashimi goes, this is the best i've had in delaware (i know that's not saying much, but if you're in the area and don't want to drive too far and crave fresh sashimi, this beats takumi imo) Rolls are small but i find it to be the perfect bite size. I tried their special rolls once and find it not worth the opportunity cost of ~3 standard rolls. If it were based on the sushi and sashimi taste alone i'd give it a solid 4 star if not a 4.5. The price to portion ratio knocks maybe half a star off. Why the three star then? Well the hibachi is a complete ripoff, and it bothers me that they use long grain rice for tempura entrees. This place is already on the pricier side -especially (but not just) for the delaware area. Is it really necessary to cheap out on the rice? just use japanese rice for japanese entrees, it's like marginally more cost (half a cup of raw rice per entree, how much is that?), not as though they have thin profit margin. Also, the service doesn't match up to the ambiance and price range. (you get better service at olive garden or macaroni grill.) i was surprised looking at the two dozens of take out bag in the front desk while waiting to be seated, and thought to myself, really? $20+/entree take out on a Friday night? Why?? After our waiter brings out our dishes one after another (such that one of us is always awkwardly staring at the other person eating), never once checked for a drink refill and ignored the empty cups even as he brings out new dishes, nowhere to be seen for the whole duration of the dinner yet doesn't leave our side after bringing out the check, suddenly i understood the two dozen takeout bags in the front. The sashimi is good enough and the service's bad enough that eating everything out of a plastic box at home makes sense.

I love this place. Its become our go to sushi place. I could eat the Blackstone roll every day of the week and not be upset about it. Black pepper tuna, calamari and rock shrimp are all very good. Have also had the Wok Creation, pick a protein, 3 veggies and sauce, and it was delicious as well. Ambience is okay- it can be loud and rather stark looking(not in the cool way). But staff is always on point and friendly. I'll be back this week.

Awesome modern Japanese restaurant. The food matches the "cool" modern feel of the restaurant. The staff is very polite and knowledgable of their menu, which is pretty large. The menu has a wide variety if sushi as well and "traditional" dishes. They have a variety of drinks as well; wine, cocktails & beer which includes domestic & international. Definitely try some of their Japanese options! The sushi is by far the best I've had in Delaware, not only because of the quality of the food itself but also because of the innovation. Every sushi place you go to probably has a pretty similar menu but this menu will allow you to try some new (and delicious) sushi. Their "traditional" dishes don't fall behind, you get a generous amount of food (even seafood) for what our paying. Lastly, the service is great, you'll end your meal with a fresh hot-towel to clean up and a great dining experience. I'll defiantly be back to try some more of their sushi options.

It was 7/19 and it was date night since my in-laws came in. First is was a movie then we were determined to get some sushi since coming from Los Angeles we haven't been able to find a place that was decent in Delaware. So with the help of Yelp we found, Le Shio which I have to say was really good! I've passed by multiple times and barely went. The ambiance was cool. We didn't wait long for a table and by long I mean no more than 15 seconds. It was date night so I wanted to try a bunch of different items. First thing was summer rolls, which were amazing. They came with a peanut sauce which was really good. I just wish they added maybe cucumber and mango. Second thing was crunchy crab rolls, which were decent. The prices are good for the sushi but the rolls are small. I figured something had to give pay more, bigger rolls or pay less get smaller rolls. I'm cool with smaller rolls they allow me to try different things without getting too full. Third thing was shrimp fried rice I like my rice a certain way I guess you can say with a good amount of salt not too much but enough where you can tell it's presence is there. They were not shy about the amount of shrimp they put on the fired rice, it was a lot which I appreciated. Overall my experience was great I would definitely come again and try different things. May be my new favorite Asian cuisine spot!

Le Shio is easily my favorite sushi in DE. The sushi is delicious and tastes really fresh, and the server we had was really friendly. I've been here twice and I keep finding new items to get off the menu. I really like their selection of rolls as they don't feel as typical as most sushi places. The Le Shio salad is one of the best salads I've ever had. Also I recommend the black pepper tuna as an appetizer. We ordered 5 rolls; Kamikaze, Le Shio, and Twin Tuna were the special rolls we got and all 3 were amazing. The regular rolls we got were the Spicy Crunchy Yellow Cab and the Spicy Dancing Kani, and they were also amazing. My only recommendation is to get more special rolls because the regular ones were a little small in size. Place is honestly amazing though, I've tried sushi all over Wilmington and Newark and this place is easily my favorite. 5 stars.

  • Angie-Jo W.

Le Shio has become our go-to sushi & Asian fusion place. The food is consistent, varied and tasty. The sushi is good (I've had better and they still can't get their unagi right) but their rolls are better. If you're a lover of wasabi &/or ginger, though, be sure to order extra. They skimp in this department. What's nice about Le Shio is the variety of their menu. Don't feel like sushi? Order a Wok Creation (you pick the protein, 3 veggies and your favorite sauce) or some traditional Thai or Chinese dish instead. We also like that they offer brown rice as an option, and they have really good hot green tea. We order for pickup about 75% of the time. They're a lot faster that way but be sure to check the contents of your bag so you come home with everything you ordered.

Great sushi and equally great conversationalist/mixologist behind the bar. Joan is the best bar none. I live in Boston and have not found an array of specials that I've enjoyed up and down the coast as I have found here. Worth the drive!

I've really enjoyed every meal I've had at Le Shio. They have many interesting sushi rolls, and other solid pan asian dishes. I think that this place is the go-to for Asian Fusion in Wilmington, much better than Jasmine down the street. That being said, I have definitely had better thai, japanese, and chinese food at several other restaurants. If everyone wants something different, however, this place is a good compromise. The dining room is also pleasant and lively, which belies the rather bland setting in fairfax.

Seriously delicious, and the sushi was so fresh. The servers were friendly and very attentive. We ordered the "Le Shio for Two", which was 8 pieces of Nigiri, 12 pieces of Sashimi, and 2 chef rolls (we picked Times Square roll & Fushion Tenno roll) I've had some horrible sushi in the past, but this place was really great. I also ordered the Category 5 drink, which was extremely strong. It tasted like I was drinking straight liquor, but I managed to somehow finish it. I would rather have a strong drink, then a weak drink, but that's just me! Overall, we enjoyed our time here, and will definitely be back!

One of my fav places for sushi. It is always consistently good! Is very popular at lunch time so I would recommend calling for a reservation, especially if you have a larger party. For lunch I usually go for the Choose 2 lunch special...you choose two sushi rolls then you have your choice of soup or salad to go with it. For $9 you can't beat it. Their bento boxes are also very good and one of my fav non-sushi dishes is the Stuffed Eggplant and Shrimp...the sauce is to die for! I also love that you can ask for gluten free soy sauce.

I love this place and find myself craving it all the time!! I'm usually not a huge fan of sushi but every time I come here I try something different and always love it! Fairfax, Kyoto and Blackstone are my favorite. I always have to order their pork dumplings which are great steamed and even come out in a cute little basket! The only negatives I had towards this restaurant were when I ordered off their Hibachi menu. the meal came with noodles that i found were a little overcooked and a little pricey. I also wish the restaurant was a little bigger, they have small tables in the middle of the restaurant that are way too close together.other than that this place is great!!

My attempts at finding sushi far away from Los Angeles and Japan are somewhat futile. Every so often, there's a fusion restaurant or a small sushi joint tucked into a strip mall. And in this case, it was a fusion restaurant. Le Shio is located, interestingly enough, next to a Dress Barn, Panera Bread, and I believe, a Radio Shack. But don't let that fool - a lot of the better places are like that that I've ever been, Okura and Shibuya immediately some to mind. It was a dinner date with myself and Ms. Winchester, a girlie date of which I hadn't had in a long time. What immediately struck me about this place as the freshness of the fish. That was its own delight, because it was cool and soft and sweet every time I took a bite. I had my rolls with hot sake, which, to my surprise, was tasty for me - and I will completely blame that on the weather outside. Snowy and cold. As usual, I'm not a rolls fan, but these were interesting and good - not melt in your mouth or by any stretch of the imagination at least near omakase (of course not, right?) but nonetheless - I finished most of it and then ordered this absolutely delish sorbet I'd go here again - it's definitely better than Mikimoto's (way.effing.better), and this would probably turn into a place that Mr. V likes as well - their menu is large, drinks are good, prices are okay, and it can either be intimate or group setting. I like that part especially. Service was also good - not overwhelming, but he came by every so often, almost right when you needed him. Ms. Winchester and I almost closed the place down - whether that was the food or the company (no pun intended), you can decide.

Really loved their fried rice. Chef does an awesome job! Let us say, i have looked for fried rice that tastes this good for a long time. Finally found this place. Have not tired the sushi so far, so can't comment. Service is kind of terrible on week days. The waiters care the least about customer service. So go on a day, when you don't care about the service but just tasty food!

I give this restaurant a 5-star rating on the food alone. Not because it's exclusive or famous. On the surface you may not even notice the location if you are from out of town (inside a strip mall, the Fairfax shopping center). I have never had a bad meal here, and we eat here often. The top sushi rolls (for me) are the Stacy and the Times Square. The Times Square is a must try....it tastes like candy. I am also partial to the chicken hibachi entree. For $16 you will get a huge plate consisting of 4 equal portions chicken, lo mein, fired rice, and veggies. The Pad Thai is also very good here. Food - 5/5 Service - 3/5 (leaves something to be desired, and I have had orders messed up in the past more than once) Ambiance - 4/5 (good enough for the location)...usually pretty cold inside FYI Price - $$ about what you can expect from an average sushi/Japanese place.

The service at this place is horrible! I had terrible service 2 times in a rows while eating in, the food takes forever, they do not refill your drinks and you can never find your server to ask for a refill and especially when you want your check. Tonight I decided to try take out since I do love their food, I was told 10-15 minutes after arriving 20 minutes after calling since I know they are slow I waited another 15 and was told 3 times that my food was next. After multiple people's food came out and they kept telling me I was next I asked for my money back. After the manager came over and refunded my money he did not apologize or anything! If you want amazing sushi that is not that expensive and amazing service head up 202 to Masamoto they actually care about their customers!

very small rolls at a very big price...they taste good but is it really worth the money when I can go elsewhere and get bigger rolls for less with the same or even better taste? I will take my money elsewhere

Have eaten here multiple times now. Their sushi is very good and very fresh -- not QUITE as good as Masamoto in Chadds Ford, but delicious nonetheless. The teriyaki dishes we've had are great, and the atmosphere is very cool. I've had the spicy chicken stir fry off their autumn seasonal menu a couple of times and, while it doesn't melt my face off as they promised me it would :(, it's very very good. Highly recommended if you're in the Wilmington/Chadds Ford/Glen Mills area and looking for sushi and a drink (While Masamato has better sushi, they're BYOB, so if you want to have a drink with your meal and not BYO then Le Shio wins every time). My only complaint is their sake menu is a bit sparse. Better than some other places but considering they TRY, it seems if they tried just a tad harder it would be a great list. We will continue to go back until they give us a reason not to!

The food is delicious and the service is fast I really like it there. It is all really authentic and I have only had wonderful experiences there. It had a menu that anyone would like and has a great decor.

Good selection of sushi and sashimi along with Chinese and some Thai. We got the duck "pancakes" which are actually just tortillas. They have a sake flight which I highly recommend. Hostess was extremely nice and we had a very warm greeting. Service was a little slow but we have had worse. Overall good food and selection in a pretty modern feeling restaurant. We will return!

Maybe we were there on an off night, or maybe my expectations were too high. Either way, I was underwhelmed. The miso soup was acceptable, though the tofu cubes were minute and there was more seaweed than I generally prefer. But not a terrible start. For appetizers, we wanted to try several things to get a good idea of the quality of the food. So we ordered the Saté, the Confit Duck, Gyoza, and Spicy Tuna rolls. First off, the Gyoza were *amazing*. The filling was a beautifully balanced blend, there wasn't an excess of dumpling "fringes", and it was cooked to perfection. Which makes the sub-par level of the other appetizers inexplicable and frustrating. The chicken for the Saté was overcooked to dryness and in desperate need of salt, and the peanut sauce was unpleasantly sweet. The Confit Duck was vegetable-heavy to the point where I had to pull a bunch out in order to even taste the duck. And the tuna rolls were a mush of tuna that seemed *ground* (and not very good) spiral-wrapped in way too much nori for a good flavor blend. I will say that the portions were quite generous - more so than the menu descriptions implied - but large portions of unimpressive foods are far from satisfying. For our entrees, we went with what I assumed would be "safe" for trying a new place: I got Shrimp Teriyaki and my husband chose General Tso's Chicken (he's been in a Chinese mood for over a week now). The Tso's was delicious - the chicken was nice and crispy despite the sauce - often an issue - and very tasty. Hot, spice-wise, but not too much for this spice weenie. He said the vegetables were good too. My dish was a disaster. The shrimp was either previously-frozen and overcooked, or just overcooked into oblivion. It was horribly mushy and borderline flavorless. The rice (brown, because that's what I like best) had a strange flavor I couldn't even pinpoint. Not jasmine-y or unseasoned, they just added some flavoring that was bizarre and didn't work at ALL. The teriyaki sauce/glaze was lacking in flavor as well, which is just odd to me, and not acceptable. I took mine home, chopped it up, and fed it to the cats. And even THEY wouldn't eat all of it. Finally, the service. We went on a Wednesday night,so they were far from packed, but the service was seriously lacking and I have to say it was incompetence. Our waitress first approached us with someone else's drinks. Never good. Her attention was spotty the entire evening, despite having a second person helping her occasionally. My main issue, though, was with the drinks. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a thirsty person. The easiest way for a waitperson to earn an awesome tip from me is to keep my drinks filled. I order sodas with no ice *because* I know if I don't, I'll go thirsty. Still, EVERY time my glass was empty, I either had to ask her for more, or she would ask if I wanted another, with a tone of disbelief in her voice. Really? No, THIS time I want to go thirsty. Of COURSE I want another! And 15 minutes before we left (I'm estimating) she asked again, and took my glass to refill it. And never brought it back. She passed our table repeatedly with OTHER peoples' drinks, but nothing for me. We also found the restaurant overly loud for what we were expecting, though that was partly due to the fact that it was our bad luck to be seated next to a pair of obnoxious people with large voices and a penchant for answering every text message and phone call that came in during the meal. Those folks aside, it was a pretty echo-y place considering how small it is. Bad design. Those wall hangings that looked like colorless concrete *should* have been crafted from soundproofing. They'd have looked the same, and the din might have been reduced. Overall: the prices weren't insane, but the food *definitely* did not reflect them. I'm happy to spend more to get quality food, but I hate paying for disappointment. Unless someone we know and love insists on taking us there, we won't be back. I'd drive to Morimoto's a thousand times before heading back to Le Shio.

  • Maia O.

I dont know why this place has four stars. I only have one thing to say - dont do it! Unless of course you'd like to pay higher than average prices for way below average food that is disappointing as it gets. The sushi is ok but everything else is tasteless and boring to say the least. For example, the Chicken Teryaki was the same as bbq chicken at Applebees, no teryaki in sight. Anyway, if you want to be bored and eat decent Japanese food, better go to Jasmine or Mikimoto instead. I know if you've lived in the area long enough you are sick and tired of the same thing, but at least you won't end up with tasteless tempura surprise that definitely does not have real chicken, lobster or shrimp in it!

LOVE THE SUSHI!!! Best I've had in all my worldly travels! The Times Square roll is so unique and delicious. I love the sauce mixture and the soypaper. The Black Lava Spider roll is also a fav. It was served hot and delicious last night! Yum! The servers and sushi chefs are so accommodating. We show up just before closing and they are pleased to feed us and make it a wonderful dining experience with no rush! The owner made the artwork out of rice, sugar, and some other grain and its so cool! Check it out !

Good but whoever says it is as good as Takumi is sadly mistaken. Had chirashi (assorted sashimi over rice) which was good but I did not like the salmon taste. It was good overall but I will go a mile farther to Takumi next time.

I'm surprised this place doesn't have a better star rating. We've done lunch specials, as well as dinners, and Le Shio hasn't disappointed us. The Tom Yam Gong soup is absolutely delish. The pieces of pineapple give it a unique sour-sweet taste. It's a refreshing change from the mediocre Tom Yam Gongs elsewhere. The bento box is pretty good with salmon or the beef. The entrees are yumm - my favorite is mixed seafood in garlic sauce. Most sushi rolls are okay, but that maybe cause I was pregnant then and made the chef make heavy substitutions. It's quite a drive for us, so don't visit often, but when we do, it's always a treat! Update: after I wrote the review, we went there again. I tried the filet mignonette lunch special and it was great! They dice the filet, cook it with a yummy sauce with mushrooms and serve it on a bed of spinach. And how could I forget the Roti Kanai? This Malaysian specialty tastes even yummier on a cold Sunday evening. The roti itself was flakey and soft melt in your mouth and the Kanai had a beautiful mild spice to match.

Based on some good ratings, we tried this place. But it wasn't all that. Its an Asian fusion place. So we didn't expect authentic but the food was just not good. The sushi rolls were poorly put together. I had a Japanese dish and my wife had a Thai dish. Both were just not good. The service was not that good either. Not very friendly. Also not one asian dining there, must mean something.

Relaxed atmosphere with just a sprinkling of Soho pretense give Wilmington's newest sushi & Asian fusion restaurant just the right balance of style, ambiance and good food. Le Shio sits unassuming in a bland strip center on the Wilmington Pike/202. Walking through the narrow white doors you see a large dining area, half of it two-top tables and the other half bench style. Decor is somewhat minimalist with high exposed ceilings with exposed air ducts. Wait staff are in black and were buzzing around in what seemed to be a moderately busy Saturday evening when we visited. I had the Blackstone sushi; tempura shrimp with cream cheese wrapped in soy and seasoned rice with a small slice of steak resting over each piece. A small to medium sized roll was $16. A bit pricey, particularly for this area but very good nonetheless. My dining partner had the Dambai Bali shrimp and chicken. Saucy and very good though he preferred my blackstone roll to his entree. Both entree's, one glass of the house cabernet sauvignon and an appetizer of edamame cost about $60, plus tip. A wee bit over what it should have been but not completely unheard of. I'm basing my cost opinion on having lived in Manhattan and knowing that a similar meal there at a similar restaurant would typically have been priced a little bit lower. Aside from the price, another minor negative was the rush from our waiter. While friendly, he was obviously attempting to hurry us along, even though we visited well after their rush and a while before they closed. Slow down buddy! No need to keep asking if we're done with our food while we're STILL eating! Le Shio could be just the right spot for a first date, a romantic date night away from the kids or a small gathering of intimate friends. I don't suggest bringing children but I DO recommend the Blackstone, just bring some extra cash and make sure not to get the rushy waiter.

Worst sushi rice ever: undercooked, dry and not seasoned for sushi... seriously! My rice cooker does a much better job. If you are looking for sushi or rolls on Concord Pike, go to Jasmine or Takumi.

Several of my friends heard about this place and decided to stop by for dinner. I had some foreboding based on the descriptions that they gave me. When I go there I noted some of the menu names that did not seem to make sense; sort of a hodge-podge of asian words. I chose to go with something that I figured would be safe and okay. I chose the Yaki Soba. What came was not was soba noodles per se but more like ramen noodle and a fried ramen. Noodles were overcooked and pasty. Sauce was limited in its flavor profile and depth. Overall I was not happy with my dish and would not order it again. The other dishes may be better and my friend's dishes ranged from good to average in appearance. Based on the other reviews I would not be opposed to returning here with others but not sure if I would venture back on my own. I am willing to give Le Shio another chance, but my expectations are not high. The service staff was attentive and quick but did seem to be a little rough around the edges with having to rush for the moderate volume.

Yum! I first have to highly recommend the hot and sour soup, best I've had! I always go for their $9 lunch special, which is two rolls of sushi (pretty basic ones (California, Boston, Philly, Tuna etc - but are very good) and cup of soup or salad. I also like their traditional chinese dishes. I would definitely check this place out.

There are quite a few restaurants in northern Delaware that advertise themselves as Asian fusion restaurtants. Le Shio is definitely the best. I especially like their sushi. American sushi is usually quite generic; nothing stands out. You either like it or you don't. The sushi at Le Shio is different, and, in my opinion, really delicious. The restaurant is quite expensive, but not outrageous. Re the Tom Yam soup, discussed by reviewer Ananya, I would say that it is quite ordinary. There were several big prawns in the soup, but it was otherwise not memorable. Asian restaurants in Delaware are not very good, but this is the best of the pan-Asian variety. It does not compare with the very authentic Yi Palace (in Newark and north Wilmington), but that is a different genre altogether.

Thought I wrote a review on this place when we went out 6 months ago...apparently not. I am getting the sense that either I am not visiting the same sushi places as others or that I am truly what my husband often refers to me as...a food snob. Dirty. Lacked Personality. Lacked Creativity. Lacked Flavor. The fish ball thingy, that someone had recommeded was horrible and I should have stopped our dining experience at that point. So I don't bore you with all my quirky commentary...I will not be returning.

Le Shio is one of those places that is a hit or miss for me but I'm somewhat torn about which one of those options is for me. I thought the service was great; from the host to the server, extremely friendly and helpful and not to mention patient since I didn't know what I wanted. I had the rainbow bridge roll which had crab meat, tuna, salmon, bass and avocado which was interesting. I'm not sure if it's because I was starving but I devoured it quickly and it was filling for being one roll. It had a strange texture which I only realized after I was almost done. It was kind of mushy, as if they mixed the different meats too much and it ended up being like baby food. It didn't taste horrible but I couldn't get over the texture afterwards. My friend said his sashimi was very fresh and delicious so he was definitely satisfied. For dessert we had a mixed berry creme brûlée that definitely wasn't a typical hard top creme brûlée; it tasted more like cheesecake with a bunch of sour berries on top. Usually creme brûlée has the hardened sugar on top that you crack with a spoon but this one didn't. It wasn't bad but I certainly would not categorize it as creme brûlée. I think I'd go back and try some other items on the menu. It wasn't horrible but I need to figure out if it's a definite hit or miss for me ^.^

I think this place is good extremely good for some of the similar types of food I have had in the area. The Tom Yam was hot and delicious no lemongrass pieces which was a plus. Bits of pineapple which was different and delicious. Had green beans chopped up into pieces and two grape tomatoes. The pad Thai was hot and delicious and ordered the way I asked. Only wish it was spicier bit hot sauce fixed that! The chicken and broccoli was hot with huge chicken pieces in it broccoli was fresh and not over cooked. The wonton soup was hot and yummy as well. We were very impressed and didn't know what to expect based off the reviews but happy we did takeout from them last night. He said place wasn't dirty and they said ten minutes we gave them 20 and food wasn't done upon arriving but only waited less than five minutes.

I have been here several times as Asian-fusion tends to be what my friends and I choose when we're out for dinner and in the mood to dress up. LOVE. That's the word I have for their rolls. When dining out for sushi it's all about taste. You're almost guaranteed to like a roll if it includes a fish you already eat and if you like cucumber, avocado, etc. Vegetable rolls are all very good...I lean toward the Vegetable Tempura which is crunchy. My favorite Maki rolls in order are: Spider Roll, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Stacy. Cation about Stacey; if you aren't a big avocado fan, this isn't the roll for you. Out of chef rolls you have to try the Kamikaze (I had to pieces of my friend's which was delish and I am getting it the next time) and the Le Shio. Don't freak out about eating seaweed, it's pretty good for you and it's essentially tasteless (at least to me). I also love that Le Shio doesn't pile on the rice and let's the other ingredients get their fair share of flavor. For appetizer I recommend Tom Yam Gong soup. DELISH. It has several pieces of shrimp in a spicy, lemon grass broth with pieces of pineapple and what I think may be some type of bean. It's spicy and different, but surprisingly yummy. I have also heard good things about their seaweed salad. I need to mention they also have Omakase which means "up to you." This is great for a group of people looking for a food adventure. Leave it up the the chef to serve you a 5-7 course meal of dishes (his choice)! Maybe this is exactly what you need for your next dinner party or date!

They have great happy hour specials from 5-7. $3.50 bottled beer (wide selection), appz for 3-4 bucks, and a decent selection of rolls for about $3. The bar is small (~6 seats) but they have quite a few tables in the bar area if you aren't looking for anything formal. The dumplings were good and I ended up getting the Rainbow Bridge rolls were very fresh and didn't have too much rice (I HATE when they overcompensate with rice).

Great sushi, rolls are perfectly petite but you can definitely get larger more "american" rolls if you go for the specialty rolls. I love how consistent the quality is which is not often the case at sushi places. Fresh fish and quick service.

Came here on Thanksgiving weekend with boyfriend and my parents at parents' recommendation. Now that I'm in the pioneer valley I've been spoiled with independent restaurants and such, and was happy when my parents took us somewhere that wasn't Chili's or Outback. I took advantage of the three-course-meal with wine option and handed the significant other my glass. The Le Shio baby layers were a super-interesting appetizer, left me with the appropriate desire for more! My sushi (I think it was a Wilmington roll? I can't remember now) came slathered in this sauce -- a little off-putting at first, but I ended up really, really enjoying it! I'm told the wine was good as well. For the modern appearance this restaurant keeps, its location is interesting -- I'm sure it would fare well in the city proper. But just as well for the North Wilmington folk -- the drive here is that much shorter! My parents can take me back here any day.

This place should not be listed as kid-friendly or family-oriented. The food is great, but the waiter's tone and service style reminded me of what you get at a run-of-the-mill Chinese buffet. I've been before a few other time, but the service has gone downhill.

Why can't I get a good meal here???? If the food is so good then get rid of the junk on the menu and serve us what is your bests. Fool me once shame one you fool me twice well shame on me. Lost my business, but this place needs to take a hard look at what food should be. NOT good. muscles that were the special were dried out and tasted foul. fillet spring roll tasted like steakums wrapped in paper and fried. And their pumpkin soup.... where was the salt, and with none on the table I was forced to use soy sauce... yuck.... the best thing I had was the coke.

Went there once, when it wasn't busy and thought that food was delicious and service very friendly. The setting is elegant for a place on a strip mall off route 202. Their home made desert was very tasty and unique. Glad i found this place in the middle of nowhere. Will definitely go back.

Intimate place... good for dates. The sushi is fan-freaking-tastic, but the service leaves much to be desired. Kind of awkward and zombie-like, the servers. The tempura is kind of over-battered... I saw a woman bring her kid in once. It was cute; he was all ready to try his sushi and his face lit up when they got served. He jumped right in and I could tell he liked it as much as I did.

This was just okay. We went here for a birthday dinner with two gluten eaters and two gluten-free folks. I heard the tom yum was outstanding, and our wakame seaweed salads were great but the same you get anywhere. Our sushi appetizers were very good, with a wide selection of fish and veggie choices. My spicy salmon roll, to my surprise, had something crunchy in it that tasted gluteny - not a good thing but I didn't get sick. My other fish came out as sashimi, not sushi, which wasn't a big deal ; the fish was nicely sliced. Entree wise, our gluten-loving diners said theirs were very good, if spicy - they smelled great and were presented really nicely on a square plate with a carrot-rose garnish. Tres jalouse. Seems like if one can eat gluten, I'd give it four stars, but alas, our gluten free dishes were steamed, had no flavor, and came with a very thin, spicy curry broth to pour on top. Steamed scallops with no seasoning or saute, this is not an exciting thing. Lots of veggies (of my own choosing). Overall, not much in the way of flavor or options if you are gluten-free; though they knew what we were talking about and we were told they have GF soy sauce in the kitchen, that didn't really affect our dishes' blah-ness. Atmosphere is sparse but kind of nice and chic, great for date night. And make SURE you check out the sinks in the loo - pretty fabulous. Other than that, I probably wouldn't be back unless I could magically have better glutenless choices and taste. I'll stick to Soybean and Padi which offer so much more flexibility.

i came here because i was craving some chinese food and this was the closest it gets... anywayz, the place is pretty chill, trendy atmosphere, spacious and friendly staff we ordered the rock shrimp and scallop hibachi.. both were not bad, i was actually quite surprised by the rock shrimp, its similar to the chinese salt and pepper shrimp but this was added with a hint of basil -- *thumbs up* scallop hibachi was alright, nothing fancy there except for the high roller price--- i wouldn't recommend ordering cocktails either... first i got a purple haze... n it turned out to be hot flavored sake in a glass, not a big fan then i switched to a bahama mama, the description said malibu rum and JUICES ... well it turned out to be just pineapple juice, malibu rum and... vodka? idk it just didn't blend well... overall it was an ok experience, it was a tad pricey but i guess the price includes the ambiance there, i didn't have the chance to try the sushi but that def looks fabulous at the sushi bar, if anything i would say give that a try first i might come back, who knows

Good sushi. The birds nest appetizer is awesome. Definitely get that! It's a great value and very filling. They have some creative sushi ideas - although if you don't like roe that will eliminate a lot of them. Ingredients seem fresh. Unassuming place in a strip mall, so it is easy to miss!

I've always been skeptical about japanese-chinese fusion places since I've rarely had a good experience in any of them. Having recently relocated to Deleware, I was desperate for a good sushi place. I happened to be in the local area and decided to hop in for lunch. I was with two other people and got to try a little bit of everything. We ordered the Rainbow Bridge roll (crab meat and avocado roll layered with salmon, white tuna and tuna), the Fusion Tenga roll (spicy tuna wrapped in white tuna over a layer of rice and seaweed), chicken fried rice and the tempura udon. I'm personally a big fan of good sashimi. Unfortunately, the tuna and salmon that came with the rolls were definitely not fresh catch of the day. I could hardly taste the white tuna since the rolls themselves were submerged in a heavy sweet sauce to hide the obvious lack of freshness. Chicken fried rice was decent but definitely not worth the ten dollars. On the other hand, the tempura was fried just right - crispy and tasty and the udon broth was simple but delicious. Overall, definitely not worth the price. Until then, I'm still searching for that one good sushi place in the area.

I really love Le Shio, and it definitely filled the must needed niche as a go-to asian fusion spot in North Wilmington. The lunch options there are very affordable and always seem to be just the right portion to fill me up without being too stuffed. The atmosphere is as honest an attempt at trendy modern decor as you'll get in a strip mall, and is certainly nice enough. My last visit I had the Mango Chicken which was really delicious. It was sweet, but not cloyingly so, and had a great balance of flavors and texture. Absolutely loved the crunchy jicama. My mom always gets a vegetarian stir fry with perfectly cooked crispy tofu that leaves her raving. They are also very accommodating to how you want your dish cooked or which ingredients. I've only had the sushi once, but it was very fresh and I will definitely get it again. Good service and great food at reasonable prices make this asian fusion spot a great place to eat for either lunch or dinner. It is tasty in its own right, but coupled with the fact that North Wilmington's options for asian fusion are a little limited, it is definitely the place to go if you are craving asian flavors.

Great prices for great food and strong drinks, but don't expect the service to be up to par. I went out to lunch here with a group of friends for one of their birthdays, so we made reservations. However, when you make reservations a few days ahead they decide to stick you in the very far back corner right next to the chop stick and soy sauce tray supply, I was not happy. Well, the food is phenomenal. I was a little nervous when the waitress could not understand fully what I was saying and I had to point to the items on the menu when I ordered them. Each meal came out at least 5 minutes apart, it took the bartender 10 minutes to make one drink (which came out one at a time as well), and my friend got his coke after we asked for it a third time with attitude when he was almost done his meal. The only person who asked how we were doing throughout the meal was the manager, and it wasn't even that busy. The waitress obviously had a language barrier and should have taken a few more weeks of learning the dominant language before waiting tables. Also, all the patrons were on one side, which made it extra noisy, because the wait staff sat in the other side doing some sort of prep work gabbing away very loudly. When I learned that Le Shio has been there for a few years I was surprised that a restaurant with poor waitstaff skills, disgusting floors and ceilings, and horrible decoration lasted that long. The food is clearly the only leg they can stand on but hey, the food is usually why you pick a place to eat. Anywho, the food was amazing. My friend ordered the tuna and salmon rolls... Now I'm not a big fan of salmon, even with cream cheese, but I will eat the salmon here. I had the Le Shio filet mignon which was really good, they sliced up filet with vegetables and poured a good brown sauce over it. Everything was delicious and priced very well. Even the drinks were good when we finally got them, a little strong too which is always a plus. I will come back here again, perhaps for dinner in hopes that I receive better service. The food is clearly the only thing that is keeping this place afloat. If it were my restaurant, I would change everything about the esthetics and raise the prices of only the food.

I had heard great things about Le Shio from one of my best friends and my mother, so I was pretty excited as I trust them and their taste implicitly. I was not disappointed! The space is modern and clean - very different than most Wilmo restaurants. The menu is also very extensive and I had a tough time deciding between make your own stir fry or udon noodles. I love udon noodles, but I opted for the make your own stir fry, as did the other three women I was dining with. The deal is: you choose your protein, up to four veggies or nuts, your sauce (I picked black bean) and white or brown rice. It rocked! I also had a veggie dumpling (don't bother) and the shrimp lemongrass soup, which kind of smelled like cigarettes, but was strangely good. My meal was about 30 bucks with tip and I had left-overs. Also, the sushi looked good! I would definitely go back, especially if the sushi is cheaper than other Wilmington offerings.

Had Valentines dinner here, just a week after they opened in the middle of a snow storm. It's a small intimate place with reasonable prices and some tasty menu items. Boyfriend had the three kingdoms and loved it! I had the BBQ duck, which was a little dry but the sauce on it was very tasty. The lobster bisque that I had before the meal was hands down the best lobster bisque that I've eaten. It was the right level of creamy and seafood tasting. I would have had thee more as meal if I had known when ordering just how delicious this soup was. I HIGHLY recommend this soup. Boyfriend had the asparagus soup and was drooling all over mine. Service was quick and friendly.

Really disappointed with today's lunch. Ordered a yellowtail and scallion roll and a spicy tuna roll. The fish in both rolls were minced into a raw hamburger like consistency. The yellowtail did not contain any scallion and the spicy tuna was not tuna, it was salmon, nor was it spicy. I asked my server to confirm that I had gotten what I ordered before I began to eat but she insisted I had. On the positive side - the fish (whatever they were) were fresh and the Miso soup was quite good.

My experience at Le Shio was just alright. I went a few nights ago with my boyfriend and we were both happy with the menu...that was until the Roti Canai came out. Let me preface my next statement by saying: I love roti canai! I was suprised to see it on the menu but had to have it. Needless to say, it was extremely disappointing! It looked as if it had been dipped in a vat of grease and dropped on a plate. The curry didn't taste quite right. I sent it back and they took it off my bill. The rest of the food was just alright, nothing special enough to come back. I was suprised because it was pretty crowded...but alas, this is Delaware. The menu was a little all over the place and felt as if it needed to be concentrated a bit. It felt like Rasa Sayang, Jasmine's and Sweet Basil in one place. Classic dilemma: Do a few things really well or a lot of things alright. I guess they chose the latter. The customer service is the only redeeming factor for the restaurant.

I don't go out for sushi very often, but after lunch today I'm really asking myself why. LeShio has a very reasonably priced lunch menu and the service was very prompt. Most importantly their food is very good. I had 2 rolls (spicy tuna and spicy salmon), both had tons of flavor! The wasabi was perfect, very potent, but not overboard. It really makes you appreciate what properly prepared sushi tastes like after a steady diet of the stuff at the end of the Chinese buffet. I definitely recommend LeShio..maybe I will see you there, because I AM going back.

Reasonably priced lunch menu. Some dinner items, esp sushi and seafood a little pricier. Service was excellent, prompt and attentive. Food came out quickly and was fresh, very good. Atmosphere is fairly minimal with sparse design and layout, but has a good modern feel. Wasn't too loud. This kind of reminds me of Jasmine when they first came on the scene and were on top of their game. They've let that place slack off some and Le Shio seems to be aiming to be Jasmine at its own game for Asian fusion.

This is my new favorite place for sushi. Probably one of the best sushi/Asian fusion restaurants I've been to since moving to the east coast! They have your standard sushi rolls that everyone knows as well as a selection of specialty rolls that were imaginative and tasty while still being reasonably priced. The entree portions were a little large, especially if you ordered an appetizer, but it made for a great lunch the next day too. Will definitely be back!

This place has great sushi, always fresh and interesting combos I haven't seen before. It also has other yummy sounding dishes that I haven't gotten around to ordering yet because the sushi is so tasty. I've had: kyoto tempura (temp shrimp with cream cheese, spicy tuna and avo), stacy's toll (spicy tuna with crunchy) and other more traditional rolls. All good.

My wife and I have been to every sushi place in Wilmington. Le Shio is hands down the best. we have never had a bad meal here and we sometimes go twice a week! The fish is always fresh and the staff always has a good recomendation for us with things that aren't on the menue.

Best meal I've had in Wilmington in quite some time. Prompt, friendly service with the added benefit that the wait staff was quite knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer advice or suggestions. Atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. As for the food, both appetizers shared at our table, the Duck Confit and Fiesta Pizza, were great. The sushi selection wasn't terribly exciting but the flavor, texture and temperature of the rolls were just right. And the entrées were quite good as well. One entrée marked spicy, the Balinese Fried Rice, was surprisingly unspicy but still pretty good. The Deep Purple dish of eggplant and prawns, however, was outstanding -- the best meal I've had in a long time. Desert was good -- I'm not a huge fan of tempura ice cream but this was as good as I've ever had it. Overall, this restaurant made a great first impression with excellent food and service for a moderate price, and is a welcome addition to the Wilmington restaurant scene.

Good sushi. The birds nest appetizer is awesome. Definitely get that! It's a great value and very filling. They have some creative sushi ideas - although if you don't like roe that will eliminate a lot of them. Ingredients seem fresh. Unassuming place in a strip mall, so it is easy to miss!

Not bad. Considering I'm a vegan, there were a few choices for me. Food was decent. Some of the walls could use something on them though, other then the sumo's butt that's currently there.

    (3)

    (3)
  • Hali A.

We eat here a lot! They're inexpensive and consistently good food. The hostess is very welcoming and cute. Usually even when they're packed they still have quick service. I deducted a star because we have gotten the wrong order a few times but it was still good.

In short, if you come to Le Shio, be sure to stick to sushi and leave dessert alone. ;-p

5 stars.

  • Holly A.

    (1)
  • Ari F.

very small rolls at a very big price...they taste good but is it really worth the money when I can go elsewhere and get bigger rolls for less with the same or even better taste? I will take my money elsewhere

  • Joel M.

  • Ananya S.

This place should not be listed as kid-friendly or family-oriented. The food is great, but the waiter's tone and service style reminded me of what you get at a run-of-the-mill Chinese buffet. I've been before a few other time, but the service has gone downhill.

Great service, excellent food. Clean restaurant, relaxed atmosphere, family-friendly but date-friendly as well. Haven't had a dish we haven't liked. The sushi is fresh and the dishes presented in such an eye-appealing way. Will definitely return!

This is a very mixed review, because I had a terrible salmon sushi roll, but my fiance loves their sesame chicken. The salmon roll was sloppily made with barely any rice and salmon. It was the most disappointing roll I have ever had!

In short, if you come to Le Shio, be sure to stick to sushi and leave dessert alone. ;-p

The quality of sushi, presentation, and service are great here. I think the menu is a little pricey for being located in a strip mall, but the quality more than makes up for the added cost. If you are looking for a quality experience, you'll find it here.

5 stars.

The dining room is also pleasant and lively, which belies the rather bland setting in fairfax.

i came here because i was craving some chinese food and this was the closest it gets... anywayz, the place is pretty chill, trendy atmosphere, spacious and friendly staff we ordered the rock shrimp and scallop hibachi.. both were not bad, i was actually quite surprised by the rock shrimp, its similar to the chinese salt and pepper shrimp but this was added with a hint of basil -- *thumbs up* scallop hibachi was alright, nothing fancy there except for the high roller price--- i wouldn't recommend ordering cocktails either... first i got a purple haze... n it turned out to be hot flavored sake in a glass, not a big fan then i switched to a bahama mama, the description said malibu rum and JUICES ... well it turned out to be just pineapple juice, malibu rum and... vodka? idk it just didn't blend well... overall it was an ok experience, it was a tad pricey but i guess the price includes the ambiance there, i didn't have the chance to try the sushi but that def looks fabulous at the sushi bar, if anything i would say give that a try first i might come back, who knows

Ordered pumpkin soup and tuna salad. Both were good. They gave me the wrong beer, but I liked it. Overall, nice atmosphere and they were open on Christmas, so I didn't have to go bed hungry.

  • Joel M.

Great service, excellent food. Clean restaurant, relaxed atmosphere, family-friendly but date-friendly as well. Haven't had a dish we haven't liked. The sushi is fresh and the dishes presented in such an eye-appealing way. Will definitely return!

The sushi here is good & price is reasonable but the rest of the menu items are okay...

Came on Tuesday night for business dinner. Almost missed restaurant when driving by. Classy interior. I like Asian restaurants that already have chop sticks on table. Not really Asian Fusion though, more food from different Asian cultures.

Could not believe how good this was! A gem of a restaurant located in a local strip mall. I had heard about this place and it lived up to the hype. Fabulous...

Good sushi. The birds nest appetizer is awesome. Definitely get that! It's a great value and very filling. They have some creative sushi ideas - although if you don't like roe that will eliminate a lot of them. Ingredients seem fresh. Unassuming place in a strip mall, so it is easy to miss!

Not bad. Considering I'm a vegan, there were a few choices for me. Food was decent. Some of the walls could use something on them though, other then the sumo's butt that's currently there.

Pretty good sushi at reasonable prices. It's a hangout - I will be here often as it's the best sushi in at least a 5 mile radius.

All good.
