Take two on sushi in Wilmington and certainly a step up from Takumi down the road. Nice and friendly service but the food is what won me over. The tempura shrimp roll was nice, except for the gigantic leaf of lettuce sticking out... Making the roll hard to eat without falling apart, but very tasty nonetheless. What won the night was the New Orleans roll, crawfish, spicy tuna and crab with wasabi mayo and some smokey notes - delicious. The rice was excellent, the ginger fresh and full of flavour. The wasabi sub par, more of that green paste that seems ubiquitous around here. The only soy sauce offered was low sodium, a healthier choice but one I like to make for myself. The house Sauvignon blank, although not cheap was another great surprise, with a very complex palate of tropical fruits, melon and citrus. Quite lovely. I should have known better and left good enough alone but I ordered desert. Forget the chocolate and walnut cake or whatever it is - pure fat and sugar don't make for tasty desert. On the sushi alone it would be a 4, but if you plan on desert expect disappointment, hence a 3*

I honestly wish I had the option to not even award a star. They don't deserve it! The service here is beyond awful! My children and I went for dinner the other night. The restaurant was not busy, however it took 30 minutes before anyone came to the table to take our drink order. My 4 year old ordered lemonade and you would be shocked on what the kid friendly cup looked like! Our drinks arrived 15 minutes later. After sitting an hour and still not having the server available to place out order...we WALKED out! I can't even comment on the food, we had none! I have never done that before, but we had somewhere I be and NO ONE was in sight! Will never go back, EVER!!!

One of my favorite places for sushi and their bento boxes are great. They also gave great deals via Groupon. Only complaint is that they haven't had their famous habiscus martini the last couple times that i went.

Not good sushi at all. Uni was inedible, ikura was off and the salmon was splitting. The bill somehow ended up being $150 for two guys with no booze - simply ridiculous. I've never had sushi in Wilmington before but I won't ever come back here.

My boyfriend and I have recently found this place and have steadily come back for the food. We love the sushi! The pho could use improvement but most of the food we had was always good.

Dishonest about hours of operation; shockingly rude staff. Jasmine claims to be open until 9pm. I came with my husband and mother-in-law for dinner -- we walked in at 8:25 and the host informed us that the kitchen was closing -- he refused to seat us. Never in my life has a restaurant refused to seat me so far in advance of the supposed closing time. And not only was the host not apologetic in the least about it, he was incredibly rude, and acted as if we were crazy to think we would get a table. He spoke to us like we were idiots. So we went down the road to Arugula where we were welcomed with open arms and had a delicious meal. (Arugula is a proper restaurant where 9pm means 9pm -- NOT 8:25.)

We have steadily come to this place for over 2 years. Since they have remodeled, and added new staff they have really stepped their game up. Pros: the staff isn't there anymore people!!!! They hired new people or something and YES THE AMAZING BARTENDERS ARE STILL THERE! You can be as specific as you like with a meal, and they have no problem making it again if you have a problem. The front end manager is a delightful fellow, and he knows how to accommodate for a large group, kids, and people with picky needs. They have had a groupon floating around for months it does help on the pricing, and they haven't given too many restrictions. Cons: the prices have no gone down and the variety hasn't changed. Happy hour is the best time of day to come in, but the bar gets crowded specially if traffic decides to detour, and simply drop in ( to the amazing bartenders who make amazing drinks) Overall this entire place has improved. For Wilmington it's in a great location.

Waiter loves answering your question about menu items with more questions. Smart@*$... Food is ok.

Food is mediocre, service is substandard and the decor is less than appealing. I'm not sure if they are under new management, but it has progressively declined over the years. So the above is what I planned to write, but this was based on my experience last year. I then read Danielle A's post and thought, well maybe I should give it another try since she has raved about their service and food. Until I visit, I'll keep this up.

Jasmine has really improved over the last couple of years. They downsized their physical space recently, and it has really improved the overall feel of the restaurant. It used to feel almost desolate because of all the empty space, but now it feels cozier and more intimate. Customer service has gotten so much better, and the sushi has maintained its quality. Cynthia (is she the owner? I'm not really sure, but she stands up front) seems like she runs a pretty good show. Bobby is the best and kindest waiter. I'm glad Jasmine is still in business! Owners...please paint the walls something other than drab puke-brown and gray! Too many neutrals in a small space = not very pleasing to the eye. Oh...and make sure the Christmas wreaths come down sooner than March this year ;)

I only had the sushi here, i got just a regular roll and i think i dragon roll. Both rolls were just okay. The price was very high for sushi that tasted like cheap sushi. No flavor in the fish. I hear great things about all the other types of food. So please pass up on their sushi if you go.

  • Olivia N.

I came here on a groupon, several times, and I think some of the food items are hit or miss. The Jasmine Fried Rice is usually pretty good. The General Tso's was a little too sour and I think chicken in the Singapore Noodles was out of date. The sushi is delicious, though not worth the money. If it weren't for the groupon, I probably wouldn't have come in. There is nothing really impressive about this place.

VAUN HAD THE PATIENCE OF AN ANGEL. Encouraging, inspiring, gentle, kind - everything a sushi server should be. God bless him.

I hate when a once good place goes to crap. I guess America does too, with the popularity of all those fix-it places on Restaurant and bar impossible. I think Jasmine has probably applied to be considered on such a show, because, oh... this place is sufffferrrring, child. Such a shame too, because Delaware is hurting for solid sushi joints, and with the departure of their head chef, this place has evidently been going downhill ever since. Jasmine is no longer the place I once remembered. Clientele seems knows it too, as the restaurant had but a handful of tables on a Thursday night. The silence of the large, nearly empty dining room was almost deafening. No music, or background sound to provide some atmosphere, you could hear a pin drop. It was eery, and uncomfortable - it's restaurant ambiance 101 - I mean, at least tap someone's ipod, turn on some easy radio listening, something! Service was okay, but evidently unenthusiastic. You would be too if you only had four or five tables to wait on, on a Thursday night. The food, lastly, the food was horribly meh, especially when comparing it to what this kitchen used to put out. The sushi is now terribly pedestrian, especially at the price point they still charge for it. The fish quality is mediocre to a little questionable. Even the simplest of the simplest roll: the California Roll left much to be desired. All in all, not worth your money or the carb intake. Jasmine needs rescuing.

Had the pineapple fried rice for lunch today. I received good service as always. The food was pretty good too. The coke had some carbonation issues. All in all great experience.

  • Michael F.

I really like Jasmine a lot, because they can pull off a variety of Asian cuisine plus sushi, and do it all very well. Yes, there are better standalone Chinese, Japanese, etc..spots...and Jasmine can hit the mark on several on one menu. They do a fantastic version of Beef Ho Fun, and their Pineapple Fried Rice, just great. Service can be hit or miss, so go in without needing to be in a hurry.

Overpriced eats but a fun place to grab a drink at the bar! Yes, service blows here. The servers look so frazzled and clueless in la la land. So I usually like to just sit at the bar and eat. The bartenders are top notch and are super friendly. I'm not crazy about the overpriced food. I've tried some of the specialty rolls and some of the wok rice dishes. Both were average.

This place was a pleasant surprise. We were looking for some sushi restaurant and found this on yelp. The place might not give a great impression from outside but wait till you step in. It has nice ambience, good staff and really good food. Sushi presented in a very innovative and tasteful manner. The only reason I didn't give five star was because we had to wait for good 15 minutes before we got a waiter to attend to us and that too had a bit of confusion around. Apart from that it was great experience and I would recommend this place to all sushi lovers.

Came here happy hour on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The happy hour prices were awesome, the service was awesome and so was the food. I highly recommend this place!

Everytime I dine here, I always leave happy. The sushi list is not as extensive as Mikimotos, but it is reasonable. More than likely, you'll find something on the sushi menu that you can enjoy. In addition to the sushi, I always find myself ordering the pineapple chicken curry rice. It is so good. It is also a lot for one person, so I do recommend sharing. My one issue with this restaurant is that there are two dining areas...one area looks a lot nicer than the other. When I first dined at this restaurant, I ate on the "not so nice looking side" near the kitchen. Bad mistake. The second time around, I made sure to be seated on the right side.

I was really disappointed with this one... thought it was going to be a "nice" and "fancy" experience all around (food, drinks, service, atmosphere), but boy was I WRONG! They may have the looks down, but they've got no substance! The start: The hostess told us it would be a few minutes before our table was cleaned so we waited, no problem. Then she said our table was ready and walked us over where the waiter was still cleaning the table off. It was so awkward standing there as the waiter dragged the wet rag all over our table while the hostess placed our menus down... we could have waited a few more minutes for a dry table, hostess lady!! And it just spiraled downhill from there. Service: Our waiter was obviously still in high school and just took his time with EVERYTHING! My mom asked for coffee and he brought it with cream, forgot the sugar and the spoon. I asked for tea, he took his time bringing it over but forgot the cups. The food took forever to come out but we can't blame him for that. He never asked how we were doing or came over to check up on us, in fact, we always had to flag him down for stuff! I honestly get more attention and faster service from an average chain restaurant like the Outback or Olive Garden. Food: You really can't mess up Terriyaki Chicken when you specialize in Asian cuisine... but somehow, they did it! The sauce was too salty and the chicken slices were too thin, dry, and just a bit off. They were layered on top of a small pile of "Asian vegetables" aka baby veggies. No joke, a few pieces of bite size broccoli, diced baby corn, mushrooms, super thinly sliced peppers and some shredded carrots. Veggies aren't expensive, why so stingy?? They should really learn a thing or two from Suki Hana (Christina Mall) or Mayflower (UD Campus). Their Spring Rolls were actually really good, but that's not enough for me to ever try Jasmine again. Their sushi was good but took way too long to come out! I now understand why no one's ever recommended Jasmine to me before... because they just kinda suck.

Just visited here for the first time this past Sunday. They won me over right away by giving me a free sushi roll for checking in on Facebook. The cheapskate in me was satisfied. Overall decent sushi. I was very impressed with my wife's Kung Pao chicken. I'll give them another chance sometime.

Can I please have a no star option? This was the worst sushi experience I have ever had. I eat sushi maybe once a month and since I was coming home (to Delaware) to visit (from my home in Las Vegas) I let my friend pick the sushi restaurant. I hadn't been much into sushi while I lived here so I hadn't tried any sushi places here. She had been to Jasmine a couple of times before and really liked it so we decided to come here. We went during lunch time and it was fairly slow. There were about 5 other tables besides ours that were there once we had been seated however 2 table left within about 10 minutes into our meal. We ordered our food, everything was great until my water ran out. And the waitress never came back. In fact, the dining room had cleared out--all the other tables had emptied, the waitresses were gone (i had only seen one besides ours) and even the greeter was gone. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited while the two sushi chefs stood behind the counter talking and making sushi. Finally, it got the point where I was so thirsty I went to look for the waitress myself. I walked down the hall peeking in every room and didnt see her or the other waitress or the man that had greeted us at the door. Finally, on my trip back up the hallway to table the waitress walks out of a side room and I tell her our glasses have been empty for over 15 minutes and no one is around and we just want the check so we can leave. When she came over to the table she brought the check and didnt even apologize for her absence. I asked for a manager who came out and we told him we had no waitress and that we had been waiting and that a woman had come in and sat a table and no one ever helped her so she left after waiting about 10 minutes. (At least we got our food.) He then commenced to complain to our waitress in front of us about how they were doing favors for other people which made their service bad. He took off one of our lunch items and apologized. The one star is for the fact that we got to eat. The rest was for the worst experience ever. I won't be back.

We've eaten at Jasmine four times. I'm no sushi fan, but I've tried two varieties of the "bento boxes" (which conveniently combine small entrees with various small side dishes), plus a couple of separate noodle-based entrees. The food has been uniformly good, though I'd stop short of excellent. Service was generally OK. On our last visit, though, after finishing our soup, we waited nearly half an hour for the main course, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Waaayy too long! If I could, I'd bump them down to three-and-a-half stars for that delay.

I have been here a few times since my bad review (mostly thanks to groupon) and the sushi is much better now and they ditched the weird lettuce. Also, sushi happy hour can not be beat.

Large sized private dining room. However, it is only a heavy metal bead curtain that separates you from the bar. This makes for a division in order for a party, but not really conducive if you were to have a meeting due or similar due to the noise factor. On a prix fixe menu the sampling may have been a bit limited but I think I got a pretty good idea. i had eaten here awhile ago, pre-Yelp days and had a similar opinion too. Went with the mango chicken after a few appetizers and a salad. The appetizers were good. The fried dumpling were juicy with a crisp shell. Flavor was rich and delicious. Ginger soy dipping sauce was a good addition enriching the dish. Spring rolls were average. Chicken satay was bland and not well grilled, lacked a good crust and maillard reaction. The salad was a prepackaged affair with what seemed like a bottled ginger dressing. Good dressing but easily available at your local asian grocery from the taste and consistency. The mango chicken was not the best I have had. The chicken, like the satay, was bland and soft. Not a good maillard reaction, not a good component to a lackluster dish. Cashews were well roasted with a crisp complex flavor and not burned at all. The mango was fresh and juicy, but more of an after-thought then an integral component. Rice was average, cooked okay without major hard or soft spots, but not great. Service was slow for our large group. It was awhile before my drinks were refilled and my dinner order was erroneously taken. This lead to my entree coming up when most of my co-partiers were almost done with their meal. After dinner we stayed for a bit at the bar. Nice set up, friendly bartender with fast and efficient service. The area is small with couches at the perimeter for small groups to hang out. All in all I think I would return to Jasmine but more so for the bar and appetizers with drinks. Not sure I would plan to return for dinner or lunch though.

Quality of the food has tumbled considerably since I last ate there 4 years ago...my pad Thai was pretty weak...sparse shrimp...was there on a Fri nite and there was barely anyone there..stomach felt suspiciously "off" that night too...quality of food definitely low...server was good but I noticed a lot of meandering and scowls on other servers faces...didnt seem to have much management direction going on...too bad..when I visited 4 years ago, it was packed and the bar had a great energy to it..felt like I was at a restaurant in Philly and Wilmington needed a place such as this, but it seems like the momentum has gone in the other direction...another mediocre Wilmington restaurant.

This place blows, the portions are ridiculous, $16-$22 for an entrée and it's less than a pint, then they give you a bowl of rice that is half full and the bowl is the size of a single scoop of ice cream, when you ask for more rice it's $2 for a bowl...wtf, are you kidding me. Charge you for rice, surprised they didn't charge for chopsticks and napkins. There's much better options. No wonder they had to downsize.... there's too many places that do it better and cheaper for you to treat consumers like this.

Great sushi, bad decor. Went here in March and were really worried when we saw that Christmas wreaths were still up! The place is definitely not kept up well. That being said the sushi was great! Spicy tuna just the way we like it, without the mayo, and not like a paste. Can't wait to go back!

American Asian fusion, not a bad eat for what, on the exterior looks like just another strip-center restaurant nestled next to a Subway and video game store. The decor is eccletic, subdued on one side of a metal beaded curtain with a larger, not-as-intimate dining area to the left. The lemon grass is my absolute favorite, fresh, seasoned excellently. My second visit wasn't quite as memorable as the first and I have the same dish of chicken and sauteed veggies. Service is friendly but just a bit too rushed.

Almost didn't go after reading the recent negative reviews, but we were hungry after our hike at Brandywine Creek Park and decided to try it. Glad we did. Had lunch. I got the lemon grass chicken with jalapenos and it was hot and tasty. My companion had chicken Pad Thai and requested that it be made spicy. It was not, but once she added some hot sauce, she said it was very good. Two guys came in, clearly regulars, and told me they have come here for lunch every Saturday for 6 years!!

Simply Put ~ Never Again. I wonder if I ate in the same place that the other reviewers wrote about. Bad Points: * Waited over 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us at the hostess stand to be seated. Only 2 tables were full in the entire restaurant. * Chair cushions were stained, windows were dirty from food splashing on them from the table, all the servers' uniforms (black slacks & black aprons) were covered in white lint. Not sure how everyone got the same lint on them. * Continued to overhear staff in the back corner of the restaurant laughing and cursing ABOUT THE RESTAURANT!!! We brought this to our waiter's attention and he gave us a black stare. This continued through the rest of our meal. * Husband ordered ice tea and when the waiter put down the small container of sugars, it was wet and the sugar packets had been splattered with food that was now caked on the paper. yuck! * Tuna Roll was mushy and a dreadful color. Tried one piece and sent it back. Unagi was simply wrong. Again, told the waiter and got a black stare. Requested a new waiter and manager. * Was given new waitress & told no manager was in. * Ordered the Thai Dish ~ Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken & Shrimp. Asked if it would be spicy, she said she could request the chef spice it up a bit. Got the dish and it looked like a pile of yellow baby food. No flavor, no distinguishable textures, overcooked chicken, old, reheated shrimp. Asked new waitress where the spice was? She got me a small bowl of chili oil and told me to us that to spice it up. * Went to the bathroom - it would have been a better choice to do my business outside in the bushes - that would have been more sanitary. Walked down a hallway and to the right was the kitchen with stacks and stacks of dirty dishes and then the bathroom ~ well, I held my breath the entire time I was in there. It was gross and that is being kind. Told the waitress, she said she would take care of it. * Ate 3 bites of my meal and then asked for the check. When asked if everything was alright, I said no, it wasn't. I was firm yet kind. Just received a black stare.... Paid the bill, walked over to Brew HaHa in the same shopping center and got a double espresso with a biscotti for dinner.

Completely disappointed. I have there for quite a few times. I like the food there. But, lat 2 times the experience was horrible in term of the behavior. They did not allow us to sit till all the people come and this is what I am first time experiencing in a restaurant in my life. I never faced this before. We were 6 people present there and 2 more were yet to come. They counted us and said let those 2 come and the attitude of the receptionist was horrible. Looks like I went to him home to eat free food. Even, we asked that guy that we can order for those 2 guys. Still he refused badly. We ended up coming out of the place and decided not to go there in future.

I rarely come to Delaware but did stop here for dinner. I had Chinese, she had Japanese. I'm typically leery of a place that offers both, especially when it's in a shopping complex, but I have to say, my General Tso's and her sushi were very good. The service was prompt, it wasn't overly expensive and the food tasted fresh. Also, this is a pretty big place so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting in without a reservation. Didn't get a chance to enjoy the bar but it looked pretty cool. I recommend it if you're in the area.

Jasmine gets a less than enthusiastic meh from me. It's probably my least favorite sushi place in the state .. which is odd because I love Saketumi down in Rehoboth which is the same owner. First ... worst service ever. Really. They (host and waitress) didn't 't even put in minimal effort to smile and it's a deal breaker. The host was a punk who sat us, and then disappeared with our menus. We sat there for at least 5 minutes twiddling our thumbs wondering where he went. The waitress we saw once when she took our order (she was grouchy) and then she never came back to check on us. I ran out of water early and wanted a refill, but that never happened. I had to flag her down to get our check, and it was as if I was inconveniencing her, even though we had been waiting a while. I went with my 4 yr old and we sat at the bar (as we do at random sushi places twice a month). So we're sitting there and the sushi chef offers me a complimentary salad, but not one to my daughter. As if she is not there. I've never experienced that before and had no good reason to explain it to her when she asked why she didn't get one. I always request no sesame seeds on all my sushi ... but this one came with sesame seeds. When I told them I ordered everything without, they weren't thrilled to have to redo it, and what a difference in the amount of fish from the wrong order to the corrected one. Noticeable difference. That's just not fair. And the food was just meh. I burped up fish taste all afternoon . .which is a big red flag. I will not go back here.

I've been here a few times now and I always leave satisfied but not necessarily impressed. Jasmine serves basically every type of Asian cuisine they could think of: Thai food, Sushi, bento boxes, Chinese Food so there is a little bit of something for everyone. The actual restaurant is very visually pleasing. Pretty darn snazzy. And the plating is usually gorgeous; they managed to make pad Thai look pretty. The sushi is fresh and there are plenty of creative special rolls if you want to be a bit more adventurous than the usual spicy salmon roll. My only complaints would be that its a tad pricey in my opinion but not overly so. Also, they don't serve their lunch menu on Sundays. Boo.

This place was a total disaster. My co workers & I, 4 of us, went for lunch last week & we could not get anyone to take our order. The weird & disturbing part of this was we were the ONLY ONES THERE!!! When I motioned to the Asian hostess who seated us, she ignored us. Finally got this short waitress who acted like she didn't want to serve us. She seemed annoyed we were in the restaurant & then proceeded to get our orders wrong, then got annoyed when we told her about this. I would not go back to this horrific place if I were starving to death !!!! Also the food served was not good. NEVER AGAIN. HOPE THIS PLACES CLOSES !!!

No one is in the restaurant, yet the orders came out very slowly. The quality of the jasmine sampler was poor, and the sushi was almost average, but was very expensive when compared with quality. Bathrooms were disgusting.

Food was not what I asked for. I asked for vegetarian pad Thai with no tofu. What was on it TONS of tofu. The waiter had an attitude and the manager was of no use. Never going back!

I tried this place from a groupon I bought. They have me a hard time about the groupon and I even tried to go back another time. The sushi is good, but the attitude of the staff was not pleasant either time.

Ok, this is more of a review of the management than the food. Food was decent, crab cake appetizer was really good. My mom and I ordered dessert(vanilla bean cheese cake). Small sliver of cheesecake came out for 7 bucks! I could have dealt with that had it been good. It was cloyingly sweet and had did not have that rich cheesecake flavor at all. We both took 1 bite and left the rest on the plate(hardly touched). Waitress came back, saw we had not eaten it and DID ask about it. We both said it was not very good at all, she laughed and took it away. We at least expected it to be taken off the bill or at least discounted. No such luck. My mom got up and asked the waitress about it, she went to check with the manager, came back and said it would not be taken off because "there was nothing wrong with it." Now, clearly there was since we both did not touch it. No courtesy for your customers, and really, would it break them to take 7 bucks off the bill? The treatment does not garner good will or a welcoming atmosphere for a return visit. Shame that they have so little concern for return business or word of mouth. Seeya, Jasmine!

Wow, I never waited so long for my sushi to be made in my entire life, 45 minutes! The place wasn't even that crowded, they seemed well staffed, and the food was just mediocre too! The waiter seemed apologetic in a forced way but that should not have happened. Jasmine Restaurant is all about presentation. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. The food is arranged on your plate in an artistic manner. Also, I think Asian Fusion well defines this place, my boyfriend's parents ordered Chinese dishes and absolutely loved them. I agree with Eric M., the specialty rolls are not very special (I even think they were a bit overpriced) even though the menu makes them sound drool-worthy. I would come here for any other Asian food that wasn't sushi.

The pad thai was some of the best I've had, and the portion size was definitely worth the price. I had enough leftover to take home for a full lunch the next day. My friend had the charbroiled lemongrass chicken over rice, which was maybe not quite so worth the price, but was also very good. We shared the spring rolls, and though maybe a little too greasy, they were very flavorful and the sauce was good as well. Overall it was very good and I definitely plan to be back to try a few more dishes. Might have to go for take-out since the dining room is nothing spectacular. And ladies be warned, the bathroom needs some serious attention. Of the two stalls, one has a door which must be held shut; I chose that one because the other had no handle for flushing the toilet!

never again. We had a party of 7 on 8/18. The place had only 3 tables with patrons on a Saturday at 8pm. The waitress took our orders and left the menus on our table for the entire meal. Food was average...nothing special there. After 2 hours and $600 later the bill arrived, the music was turned off, bartender was now in street clothes and we were no longer welcome since it was closing time. After mentioning to the manager that we had horrible service we were told that the waitress felt we were too deep in conversation and that she did not want to disturb us! Can't wait to tell all of my friends about this one. Just BAD BAD BAD

.Whenever it rains Chris is off (lucky duck). After a trying morning and then realizing I didn't pack anything for lunch I remember the groupon I purchased a few weeks back. Lunch "date" sounded good to me. We arrived to a near empty restaurant but our reservation was for 11:45 and most people don't come until after 12. Since we both weren't that hungry we skipped the apps and decided on entrees. I was bummed that they didn't have the chenin blanc available ( I could have used that glass of wine) Chris -general tso chicken-he said the portion size was perfect for him and the sweet with the heat worked well together. He wasn't a fan of the peppers that they include but he was able easily pick them out. I opted for the basil shrimp. Spicy (due to the Asian basil) but very well seasoned with scallions, peppers , carrots and caramelized onions :) my only real complaint was the button mushrooms (as to which I am not a fan) the portion size is good for lunch and a steal at 8.95 (7.95 for chicken and beef entrees). We were in and out in under an hour and with the exception of the weird taste of the water and iced tea I would def come back. They have a pretty cool lounge type area close to the bar with plush couches and a TV. Good place to unwind have a few cocktails and watch the game

I know you want to know about the dinner ... but you have to try the deserts!! Leave room! We go here often to meet up with the in-laws. It's a very nice restaurant with yummy asian dinners. The atmosphere is lovely and Delaware is smoke free so you can sit at the bar and enjoy a drink without dying of cancer. This is a great place to eat if you're in the area.

I am a bit fussy about the cleanliness of a restaurant, so could not help but notice that the chair covers had stains, the napkins had stains and the dinner plates were chipped. So, the place is in need of a serious overhaul. Service was below average. We were being served by a surly dude who was clearly not having a nice day. I try to be extra nice and polite when encountering such a grouch, but he was not having any of it. All that said, the food is pretty darned good. We had Won-ton and Corn chowder soups. Both were very nice and flavorful. The Jasmine sampler platter was a bit like TGI Fridays - full of individual servings, each overcooked and or fried a bit too long. We could have done without this part of the meal. My entree was the charbroiled lemongrass chicken over vermicelli. It was exceptionally tasty and cooked just right. I could have licked the plate. Similarly, my wife had the duck with tamarind ginger sauce. She loved it. The duck was moist with crispy skin, the vegetables were perfect and the sauce a very nice compliment. I would have liked a fortune cookie with the check, but this is asian fusion, not chinese.

The Korean BBQ short ribs and Duck are my two favorite meals. The rolls are good but I would stay away from the "special" rolls, not that special. The calamari is a great appetizer. If you don't want the "jerky waiter" ask to sit on the left side, he has always served on the right side.

After a chardonnay glass lined with dust, mediocre sushi, and the average price of a roll being about $2.00 more than what we've experienced, we won't be going back.

The hot and sour soup may be the best I've ever tasted anywhere. The fish is fresh and the drinks are expertly prepared by the best bartender (Gen) in the area! Jasmine's may be the best kept secret for happy hour in N. Wilmington!

In the past, I would have given this place at least 4 stars. But recently, it's really gone down hill. The food no longer seems fresh. The staff is generally incompetent. The drinks are usually decent, albeit, they are often out of the ingredients especially for my favorite: the cucumber margarita. The pineapple fried rice is decent. They've taken a lot of their great sushi rolls off the menu. There are way better Asian Fusion restaurants to dine at in town.

I used to I like coming to this place, but over last two years it has gotten progressively worse. The tables are chipped and need renovation or replacement, the chopsticks are the wooden fast-food type with splinters, the food is ok, but not great... It's sad to see this place going down and noticing the owner's ignorance towards keeping it fresh and somewhat up to a standard of a nice restaurant. It's more of a cheap place to get some sushi and/or rice dish (and if you're lucky they may actually not be out of brown rice!). Sorry, but if Im hungry for Japanese food I'll be choosing Mikimotos instead, unless a major change happens here.

I mainly go to Jasmine for one reason: sushi happy hour! Monday-Thursday, 5:00-7:00 their basic sushi rolls are half price. They offer drink specials during this time as well. This has always been a positive experience in that the food is good, the service is excellent and lighting/decor is quite pleasing. Although I enjoy the food, I can only describe it as average. The sushi does not taste as fresh as I would like and the other entrees are hit or miss. It is honestly the happy hour prices that keep me going as often as I do. Well...that and they make a mean cosmo!

I heard this is the place to go for Sushi so...with a grain of salt I kindly advise: - Happy Hour is limited to about 6 drinks and Sushi Rolls (select menu.) Drinks were mostly rum based. I'll try the $2 rolls (huge list) next time I'm there. - My duck in tamarind ginger sauce was good but the sauce was very thick and heavy, reminiscent of hoisin but sweeter ($19). Panaag Curry Beef my companion ordered was great - lots of zucchini. -Dim Sum - I could pass on the veggie dumplings -very strong 'green' flavor - and the shrimp. Pork were good. Kaitlin is right - satisfied - not impressed.

Got the Monkey Roll- $15 and the sweet potato tempura roll- $4.50. Seriously could barely finish the lemon cake-- parents had to help me out. haha ....aka you get a lot of sushi for a good price. Go here for sushi. Do it.

Went here with a friend on a whim. We decided to try something new. We were not disppointed. They had a few things on the drink menu that looked interesting. Drinks didnt take too long to arrive and they were strong and pretty! My friend doesnt like raw fish but I love it. The rolls were tasty. The presentation was amazing and I left full. It seems to get a bit crowded the later it gets but Im fine with that since we stopped in around 5pm or so. Didnt really pick up til 6:30 or 7ish. There were a few couples with kids but I dont think its really a kid friendly place. The staff was fun and attentive and their bathrooms are CLEAN! I also really appreciated the fact that they have a lot of rolls that dont have avocado in them (im allergic). Most places are avocado city! The only downside was the hostess was a little crass and pushy but the interaction with her was short. Overall, It was a good experience and I was a happy camper.

Jasmine is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the area, so it's high time that I write a review of this place. Jasmine's food is best described as "pan-Asian" - it takes some of the best offerings of Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisines. The decor is kinda hip (particularly considering that the restaurant is located in a strip mall) and the food has never disappointed me. Jasmine has the feel of a place in Center City Philly, not North Wilmington. I seem to be drawn to entrees with lemon grass in them time and again. You can't go wrong with the beef or chicken, over noodles or rice. The bento boxes served at lunch are a great way to get a sampling of a variety of items. I'm also quite fond of the crispy crab wontons from the appetizer section of the menu. The menu is fairly extensive and I would venture to guess that most anyone could find something to his/her liking. If you're in the mood for something "Asian", but don't want to commit to Chinese, Thai or whatever, Jasmine is the perfect choice.

My family, friends and I used to LOVE this place. The past few times we've experienced horrible service and will not be returning any time soon!! The hostess is extremely rude. She doesn't greet at the door, she waits for you to get her attention to acknowledge you, and she always has a sour look on her face. The 3 times we had bad service it's been with 3 separate waitstaff, the most recent time our 'server' was the extremely stretched thin bartender/manager (?!??!). We were a party of 7 with 5 adults and 2 kids, why would they assign someone who is trying to handle all of that other responsibility to our table?!?! We were there for about 3+ hours and it wasn't because we were having a good time!! It took them about 45 minutes to take our DRINK ORDER (I even walked up to the hostess after 25 mins and asked her to please send our waiter over) and the evening didn't get better from there.... I also emailed the restaurant via their website explaining to them what happened, hoping for an apology or explanation. It's been over 2 weeks at this point and I haven't heard anything back. Disappointed again. The food is amazing! Even after the first couple of bad experiences with service we came back for the food, but this third time really put us off.

i've been there a half dozen times, and usually my experience is very good. my most recent visit was horrific, though. my wife and i arrived and were immediately seated. the restaurant was only about four tables full, typical for a slow weeknight. we then waited about 10 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us (i.e. pour us water or give us a menu). nothing. we left.

  • Bob K.

Downhill this place has slid. The entrees got progressively more greasy, and we abandoned all hope last year, which was a huge shame. We decided to go back after a pause of several months, and found no improvement. Oddly, we also noticed that the wall fixtures and table doo-dads were missing. Fire sale?

Just ok food and quite pricey. Got the spicy tuna and yellowtail & scallion rolls. Both were just ok and fairly small portions. Also got the beef chow fun which was only ok. Overall, the ambiance and interior design are better than the food.

There is one waiter who has worked at this place forever who is the biggest jerk. He is aloof, ignores your table and acts like he could care less if you're hungry or happy with your meal. It has become a running joke between my wife and I, so much so that we actually enjoy seeing the "jerky waiter" guy. If you've been to Jasmine, you will know who I'm talking about. The food here is consistently above average. They can make the food pretty spicy upon request. Sweet potato roll and General Tso's chicken are among my favorites. If you don't get any booze, you can grab a decent meal incl. appetizers for two under $40.

  • Christopher T.

Great happy hour specials. Sushi is good, curry is alright and G behind the bar is the best! Honestly the two things keeping this place from being 5 stars is the atmosphere and some of the waitstaff. The interior is in need of an update, it almost feels as though someone had started to design the interior but never had a goal in mind. LIke i had mentioned, Geneva the bartender is absolutely amazing, which is why my girlfriend and I will only sit at the bar anymore. The few times that we have grabbed a table the servers are always running around like crazy, forgetting requests and are not very personable... from my experience anyway.

I've been here several times so far and while I thought it would be love, I'd say it's more like friends with potential. The menu is extensive and hard to choose from, but it is definitely on the price-inflated side. I guess you're paying extra for the trying to be swanky factor (but hey, swanky is nice). I do enjoy the sleek decor. Service can be sloowww even when it's not crowded. I thought the sushi was good (but again, expensive - and my picky self hates not being allowed to make substitutions). I very much liked the roasted duck with baby bok choy, which was delicious, nice and crispy, and not fatty. The chow fun was also very tasty, not groundbreaking or anything, but very yummy and enough to take home. Not someplace I'd go often, for sure, but I have enjoyed my meals here. It's a nice place for a date night.

this place provides a trendy atmosphere on one side and dining atmosphere on the other side. Food is decent, the menu offers relatively americanized asian cuisine. We've been there twice since it's close to our neighborhood, the second time the waiter provided a less than satisfactory service. Pad Thai is good. We weren't so crazy about the Korean BBQ dish.

Dearest Jasmine, I have loved you so much over the years. Where did we go wrong?? Jasmine is receiving one star because the food is great. Unfortunately, dining out consists of more than just the food. I was seated at a circle table in the corner tonight with 4 girlfriends. Our table was filthy and flimsy. You know this type of table---you lean on it and your friend's meal jumps in their face. Then they lean on it, and your water spills. You try and put your weight on one of the legs under the table to sturdy it, but it doesn't help....there were crumbs all in the cracks of the table. My dear friend was pregnant and spilled the sauce with her appetizer accidently....and the spill remained on our table for the remainder of the meal. The menus were tattered and had oil and ink stains all over them. There were items whited-out on the menu. Can't you just print new ones?? The paint on the walls was chipping, but maybe they were aware because I did see painters tape on the ceiling. The walls were also marked by chairs being knocked into them repeatedly. They just looked sad. Our waiter was definitely overwhelmed. He couldn't make it to our table and looked relieved when we ordered everything at once---probably because he wouldn't have to come back to us again. With that being sad, we could have used some water. A refill once would have been nice between the beginning and the end of the meal. The bathroom needs TLC too. I dont like using bathrooms with broken stall doors. Kinda lacks privacy. Jasmine, take a week (month?) off and fix your problems. Thank goodness all the diners with me tonight knew "the old" Jasmine or I would have been embarrassed to suggest the restaurant.

A great spot to take a date. The trendy atmosphere of this sushi bar made me think i'd be paying a lot, but one look at the menu made me calm down. The prices are great (for sushi). I'm new to the whole sushi thing, but this restaurant was perfect for me, and i enjoyed it. Good sushi, classy decor, and a casual atmosphere.

I should say that I'm from Los Angeles where Pan-Asian restaurants give way to the culinary subtlety of countless regional variations from almost every country one can imagine. That said, this the second time I've been to Jasmine--but in a momentary lapse and Groupon-induced greediness, I landed in this mediocre restaurant one time too many. This time it wasn't "meh, I've had better," it was really bad. When I order seafood (the whole fish, market price, with mango, pepper in a spicy sauce) I don't expect for either me or my food to go swimming. The "crispy" fish was so soaked with sauce that it was limp by the time I transferred it to another plate. The broccoli was so sauced up that it was inedible. After transferring the whole thing to another plate, I had to pick the fish up by the tail to let the sauce run off (into pools of red gooeyness). I was feeling wimpy so didn't send it back to the kitchen. The avocado roll was better but the seaweed was over soaked and soggy. OK, off to write a review of Rasa Sayang which has the best tofu I've ever tasted. Their mango tofu dish has me spoiled and purring.

This was another groupon driven meal. I remember going to jasmine about 3 years ago and the Sushi was good then, but it wasn't as good as I remembered. The service was the real kicker. First when we got there my husband asked if there were any tables near the TV because he wanted to watch the phillies. Some other gentleman who was not the host practically shoved our menus at us and just pointed for us to go to the bar. We sat at a lounge table for like 5 minutes when my husband went up to the bar to ask if we could get service at our table and they said no. Thanks for the menus we can't order from??? So we wen back to the host and asked for a table. Waited another 10 minutes before they came to offer water. We knew what we wanted so we didn't waste time ordering. We got the crouching tiger and the dragon fly. We were observing around us that things were kind of slow all around. We saw sushi plates lining up at the bar but no waiters going to get them. I saw a pretty looking plate with shrimp tails pointing up sitting there for a while...our waiter said they were just finishing ours and he'd pick it up in a minute and then proceeded to spend another 5 minutes talking about wine to the table next to us. Another few minutes later and fewer plates at the bar later...he finally handed us that pretty plate that was sitting there for about 15 minutes. Talk about a delay for no reason. The sushi was so-so. Not very flavorful. And the rice was under seasoned. There wasn't actually any kimchi sauce on the dragonfly roll and the shrimp was tucked in so well at the end that it was inevitable to eat some shell. The crouching tiger was kind of bland and the asparagus was a little too much on the raw side for me. I wouldn't recommend going here.

The fish is hit or miss, even in one sitting. The toro (fatty tuna) was disgusting. This is usually the best piece of nigiri. It failed. The Bento box i got, i think vietnamese, was good as well. It's overpriced to be sure, but it's one of the better spots in Wilmington DE.
