Who knew this was a restaurant with a pretty solid looking menu (see pics) in addition to being a chocolate shop? Years ago it was called Govatos Chocolates & Luncheonette and there is still a dining room in the back of the shop. They feature in-house roasted turkey, roast beef, ham and corned beef brisket, and serve hot open faced sandwiches. Also on the menu were chopped sirloin of beef, fried shirmp, fried jumbo clams, reubens, turkey reubens and regular and chicken cheesesteaks. Most everything is between 5 and 9 bucks. Looking forward to trying it...

Always closed when I'm in the area. Finally caught them open after 3 years of wasted trips & could not get in the door with my handicapped device. I struggled to get in the heavy doors which caused me much pain & could not get in or out, while workers stood & did nothing to help me. I struggled to unwedge myself from the doors, just to buy $1boo bags. All tricks, no treats.

More than just chocolate!! I grew up in Wilmington, so this is where I call for my Dad's Christmas gift every year; a large box of Black Walnut squares-- plain, not chocolate. Every year, I'm greeted with a friendly staff member who takes my order and arranges a lovely box to be delivered. In retrospect, few things in life remain truly as great as you remembered them, but Govatos' consistency in yumminess, year on year is amazing. The gift never fails to delight him and it's so gratifying to know I can make one cal, and they'll sort the rest. There' a reason Govatos is a Wilmington institution.

This is a great Family owned place. I went there the day before Easter so their restaurant was not open. But all the chocolates looked amazing even though a lot were gone already. I got a Popeye shaped chocolate for Easter and a selection of other chocolates, every single one tasted amazing. (With Pecan, Coconut and Marshmallow) You can tell they are passionate about what they do. I talked to the owner he said that this place is in the family for 100+ years. I hope his kids continue the tradition. It is truly great that you can find places family own nowadays. Now everything is franchised. I usually get Godiva chocolates but not because I am a fan, my husband get them for me. They are ok. I am from Europe so I am used to great Swiss or Belgium chocolate and Godiva can't compare. At this place, even if it's not Swiss or Belgium chocolate (and I won't even mention Hershey's, to me that's not even chocolate!) you can tell they put effort, they have their own recipe and it's very yummy! You can taste the chocolate, the nuts, the milk... I would recommend it to anyone stopping by Wilmington. It's a great way to support our local shops and stores. We need them to continue! I was with a friend, and she wanted to get chocolate for her husband who is lactose intolerant, and the owner, a very honest man, said that even the dark chocolates have a little bit of (lactose), so if you're lactose intolerant you'll only be able to try the Gummy bears. (Sorry :/ ) $10 If you want to pay with your credit card.

This is a very nice candy store with great homemade candy and also a nice selection of candies from other sources. The service was excellent. We had a lovely piece of candied orange peel dipped in dark chocolate as a snack and got gifts for a number of people for the holidays. We were at their concord pike location outside of Wilmington =same candy same service.

I love the $1.00 Boo-Boo bags, but you never know what youre going to get. I've had the truffles as well and they are out of this world. My man and I love to eat lunch here and look at the business people passing by on their lunch breaks. Always have a good variety of lunch specials, very economical with friendly service.
