First time visit on a Saturday night. I was very impressed with the decor when I first walked in the front door. My boyfriend and I arrived a little after 6:30 and were surprised, yet pleased, to find that there was no wait. We were promptly seated at a nice outdoor table where our friends met us shortly after. The service was great throughout the entire experience. Our server was courteous and attentive. She offer complimentary bread with a garlic oil dipping sauce which was tasty. The menu sounded terrific and the prices were average/above average. We ordered 3 choice antipasti so we decided on the smoked prosciutto, sharp provolone, and soppressata. The prosciutto and provolone were alright (wasn't blown away) but the soppressata was very bland and tasteless. I ordered with Ciopponi for my meal - linguine with clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari in a tomato sauce. My meal was ehh.. I've def had better but also had worse. My boyfriend has the grilled salmon which he said was good, but my cooked salmon tastes better :) I give this place 4 stars on atmosphere, service, menu choices, and decent food.

Went here with co-workers for lunch and the food was good. Service was good as well. I had a couple special requests and the waiters were very accommodating. There was a small problem with my meal and although the restaurant was extremely busy at the time, the waiters were very apologetic and helpful. I had a mushroom bruschetta appetizer that was out of this world. I've been craving it ever since. I also had a sandwich that was good. I'd like to go back to try other things since every one of my co-worker's meals looked great. Some got pasta, some got salads, appetizers, and dessert.

I called this restaurant around noon for SAME-DAY catering for 10-12 people. At first, they told me they would need a week to plan for a catering situation, but when I told them my predicament, they put a menu together for me of items that they could make quickly and had enough stock of. The manager was extremely friendly and communicative -- he called me back right away and told me what he recommended. They accepted my order, and we picked up the food promptly at 5:45PM, and everything was excellent. Everything about this experience was convenient. I was able to pay over the phone so that I could send a courier to pick up the food w/o having to bring a credit card, no hidden catering fees, and no shortcomings in the food itself. Will use them again if I am looking for Italian food for a group. P.S. Don't forget to give your customers plastic spoons for the soup! But we made it work :) WHAT WE ORDERED: SEASONAL BRUSCHETTA seasonal vegetable spread with grilled bread HOUSE SALAD mixed greens, tomato-balsamic dressing TOMATO BASIL BISQUE orzo pasta BAKED RIGATONI ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese and meat sauce CHICKEN MARSALA mushrooms, sweet marsala wine sauce SAUTEED BROCCOLI RABE & BEANS ROASTED RED PEPPERS COOKIE AND BAR TRAY ever changing selection of fresh baked cookies and dessert bars

Great food, great service, the only thing I didn't like was that somehow this non-chain restaurant managed to feel like a chain place. I guess the large size, suburban mall location and overly curated decor contributed to that feeling. All that said, I would definitely go back because the food and service were so good.

The menu changes seasonally. The newer summer menu is in effect. Ask your server (or bartender) what to order. They know what the best "new" dishes are. I love the service! The bartender recommended the skirt steak and it was tasty & the taters were cooked perfectly with the right amount of lemony aioli. The scant portion of spinach on the dish was not enough because I want to be like Popeye the sailor man.

Came here on UD's Graduation day to celebrate and discovered that the food here is extremely savory! We loved the appetizer which was a customizable anti pasta plate: sopressata, amazing imported sharp provolone, artichokes, prosciutto, deliciously olive oil infused sweet roasted red peppers! I had ordered the pappardelle which was complemented with just the perfect amount of tomato sauce tossed with arugula. This is by far the best pappardelle I have ever tasted! The portions were perfect in that without leaving you feeling overly stuffed and sluggish. Needless to say, I licked my plate clean.

One member of our party complained about the quality of food (his clams were chewy) and the lack of mussels as per menu description. The waiter said he would address the issue but never returned with any answer or explanation. That is so wrong on so many levels!

Really good pasta! Rose cream chicken pasta was soooo yummy! Big enough for two. Pizza was however just okay.

Nice restaurant. Good service. Dined with a friend on a weekend afternoon and had a very long leisurely late lunch. They didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome when we stayed to chat. I enjoyed my mushroom bruschetta. All the food was good.

I went to this restaurant for lunch with co-workers before the holidays. This is my new favorite place! We made reservations in advance, so seating was not a problem. The customer service was excellent. I wish I could remember the name of our server, but he was funny and helpful. Two colleagues shared meals. The wait staff was courteous enough to divide their meals onto separate plates. I chose Caesar salad and fried calamari. The food was delicious. Everyone cleaned their plates. Great options for vegetarians.

The food is decent but the service is so slow, it honestly ruins the experience. Went on Father's Day and waited about 45 minutes just to place the order, then a solid 15-20 for the apps and salads. Two plus hours for dinner...I can't see myself coming back.

  • Keith K.

The food is okay but the service is so slow its unbearable, its not worth the experience. Went with some friends, and we waited 45 mins just to order. Our waitress treated us like we were disturbing her. I spoke to the manager, and it was more of the same. Spare yourself the experience, eat anywhere else. Anywhere.

Service was terrible: I had to constantly ask other servers to find mine. The food was greasy, not fresh, and truly bizarre. I tried the bruschetta (greasy, mushroom and cheese), gnocchi (tasted like an old shoe), meatballs (rubber), and stuffed peppers (the only edible option). I was tempted to walk out without paying. The worst part of the experience was the unwillingness of any of the staff to address the issue or make it right. It could have been an off-night, I could have been unlucky in my choices, but because the front and dining staff were unwilling to discuss the experience, I'll never return.

Restaurant information on Yelp apparently not correct, presumably because it was provided erroneously the restaurant! It was closed before midnight! On here, it shows they are open till 1am everyday!

This place is really good as far as Italian goes. The bread and oil dip was fresh and really good. We had a cheese board which was awesome. I had their version of chicken Parmesan which was great but the cream sauce was a little different. My husband had the eggplant Parmesan which was really good too. The desserts (tiramisu and bread pudding) were so delicious. The inside was nice and cozy on a cold day.

Took Sheila for her birthday... She had been several times and this was my maiden voyage. We made reservations at a near by seafood restaurant and decided to grab drinks here before hand. Grabbed a couple seats at the bar and stayed. I called the other place and cancelled. After a cheese board at the bar we took a place in a booth in the restaurant. Heather was a pleasant and attentive server, love the accent. Started with the anti-pasti, with three cured meats: salumi, Porketta, prosciutto along with marinated fresh artichokes, pickled carrots, Reggiano, asiago, flatbread crackers. Served on a wooden plank. Then came the sautéed broccoli-rabe with caramelized garlic slivers and whit beans - I could of made this my entree, loved it. My wife ordered the shrimp Ramano with angel hair.. Needed a bit more garlic, and vino! My venison with sweet potato purée and sautéed Swiss chard was good. Would have been over the top had it come to the table like I ordered... Rare/med rare, but it came to the table medium/ well, no I didn't say anything because we were having such a good time.... Shame on you... Rare/Med Rare please!!!! Also ordered a side of puréed cauliflower, not a menu choice but an accompaniment to a braised short rib dish.. That was deliciously smooth with just enough spice so not to ruin the cauliflower. A glass of Merlot and I had a Big bold cab. Really nice with the entrees. Mojitos were good and my Brooklyn Pilsner is always a treat. I really like the bar area... Happy hour specials... $3 selected drafts and $5 food features. Wines as well, not sure of the price! Overall, very pleased and we will be back!!

Waited 90 mins for ummm pizza that I could've got at Pizza Hut. the calamari appetizer was soggy and the caesar salad tasted off. generally the place was unimpressive given the hype from others.

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate a special occasion and were extremely pleased! The customer service was great, our waitress was informative and attentive. we had the garlic mussels with spicy sausage for an appetizer. The sauce was very good! The bread served with it was a little over done but overall I was satisfied! We also had the cheese plate and it was amazing! We had the mountain valley cheddar and the Gouda, both delicious. The cheddar was so good that I bought some from the market next store before we left! And to add to the greatness, our waitress told the market I wanted the cheddar and they had it ready to go for me when I walked in! For the entree I had the chicken piccata. It was tasty and had huge portions so I took it home for lunch the next day. The tiramisu was our last dish and it was very good as well! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Wilmington area!

Capers and Lemons is a convenient spot for takeout for us - we've never dined it but have always enjoyed our food. Servings are very generous but overpriced. I have serious love for their eggplant florentine.

This place is like an oasis in the dessert. Literally in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by office buildings. It is real close to the residents of Wilmington's aristocrats and gentries. If you can't read between the lines, it's real close to Greenville - Wilmington's Beverly Hills. I recently had a great meal for lunch, which consisted of hand made tortellini pasta with button mushrooms and truffle butter. The broth was divine and I wanted to take a piece of bread and sop the rest of it up. I've eaten lunch and dinner here on several occasions. The grilled cheese and tomato soup is worth trying. The pasta dishes range from just okay to very good. They get crowded during lunch. Overall, this is not a bad place to have a nice Italian meal.

i went to capers and lemons with a few colleagues, and thought the overall experience was nice. the food and service staff were both good but didn't necessarily stand out. we asked the waitress for recommendations for appetizers to share, and she seemed really confused by the question. she finally was able to say that the stuffed meatballs were one of her favorites, so we chose those and the flatbread special that had spinach, mushrooms, and goat cheese. the metballs were large, flavorful, and moist, but would have been a meal if for just one person. the flatbread was good, and the crust was chewy and light. i chose the cioppino, which included mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari, linguini, and tomato broth. this sounded nice, but i was absolutely astounded and embarrassed when a pound of linguine was served to me, topped with the seafood and more of a tomato sauce. i did my best to finish the seafood since that was what contributed to the price of my dish, but felt so lame and wasteful when i barely made a dent in the pasta. my coworkers seemed to enjoy the bolognese and braciole, but we were all stuffed even though no one was able to finish their portion. in my opinion, this is exactly the type of restaurant that could benefit from a half price/half portion type of menu. i would return, but may not go out of my way to do so. it was an easy menu to choose from, and the food was tasty enough.

The food is decent. The servers all seem a bit fake. They try to act like they are being classy and it comes across as not friendly. But then most of the people in that area are rude so they are just lowering to their general customer's attitudes. It's like the mustard commercial where the guy pulls up to the limo. Pardon me sir but do you have any..... But people like fancy. And the servers wear strange shirts with what looks like a baseball team with the players name on the back, but are types of wine. It's odd. And the bar is tiny and fills up with old ladies. It's not bad but not the regular bar scene. There were quite a few families with small children and couples out on a date. Their other restaurant in Hockessin has a more friendly staff but I think I like the food at Capers and Lemons slightly better.

I worked here for a few months in between jobs. The managers and staff take a lot of pride in serving great food, and it is hands down the cleanest restaurant I have ever worked in (been in and out of the restaurant industry for 16 years). Ate there a lot and food is delish.

I have eaten here so many times in the past few years and it is consistently very good. The food is excellent, fresh pasta, always seems to be done very well - my go to dish is the tagliatelle. Although it is located a little bit out of the way, the ambiance is nice in both the dining area and large U shaped bar. If I have one modest complaint, it is that the service is mediocre - not bad, but not great. Seems like the servers are younger part time workers as opposed to the more experienced and attentive servers at higher end restaurants. Ironically I have found that the service at the bar (for dinner) is great (at least better than in the dining room). This is very good Italian food in a nice place, and I plan to come back again and again.

I would like to comment on the food, but unfortunately we never got seated. I called early Saturday afternoon for a 7'ish dinner for two. I was told they didn't take reservations, and to come in when we wanted. I guess I took that as seating would not be an issue, so my wife and i drove the half hour drive to find this hole in the wall, and were advised it would be a 55 minute wait!!!! Of course the bar was totally packed with all of the other "waiters". We turned around and left, never to return. This isn't NYC, or LA, and there are far too many other top quality choices nearby that will be happy to schedule and hold a table for their customers. We just may write off all of the Platinum Groups locations. Who needs that ????

Some colleagues and I needed some lunch after a marathon meeting session. Things did not look good as were were in corporate office park USA nowheresville. Off on the horizon, I saw what appeared to be a restaurant. I saw the words "capers" and "lemons" and new we were in business. The restaurant is has a shiny new sheen to it and the staff warmly greeted us at the door. It must be a popular spot as it was jammed at lunchtime. That being the case, we sat at the bar. We both got margarita pizzas - my go to in an unknown middle of the road Italian chain type of place. Both of our pizzas were good, no complaints at all from us - good quality and consistency. The service at the bar was good as well - which can be hit or miss when seated at the bar for lunch in the burbs. Another good thing about this place is that they have a little Italian grocery store off to the side of the entrance. I don't know when I will be back to Wilmington, but if I do return, I would probably come back here again.

The positives: Loved the food and great service. The negatives: This establishment doesn't take reservations for a seating of four. We waited for 45 minutes at the horseshoe shaped bar until a table opened up. The restaurant acoustics made talking with one another difficult to hear each other.

Love this restaurant~ the best calamari I have ever tasted. It may seem to some to be slightly undercooked but in fact it is always cooked to tender perfection. It is drizzled with a cream sauce and sprinkled with capers. The flavor is outstanding. The mussels are PEI's and served with the most decadent chard grilled toast baguettes. Wow~ just wonderful! The Italian antipasto platter ( your picks ) is beautifully presented on a wooden board and the boards are for sale in the store attached to the restaurant. I had the Salmon with Spinach and Garlic Orzo and it's finished with a lemon butter sauce. It is mouth watering wonderful. My husband and I tend to sit at a bar in most restaurants simply because I feel as though you get extra special service and learn about the area from the bar keeps and patrons~ so I cannot comment on the service in the dinning area. This restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere~ which I kind of like. I always look forward to coming here.

Been to Capers and Lemons several times, always for lunch, always on business. Have been especially fond of the pizza and the grilled chicken sandwich on focaccia bread. The pizza has that european style - like that a lot! Sort of on the border of Greenville, the place seems to have a bit of an attitude about it, but my experiences there have been positive. I agree that the place is a little difficult to find, and my GPS always gets it a little wrong. Very odd location for a restaurant. They always seems to be crowded for lunch, and expect you to have a reservation when you walk in the door. Don't remember this so much from previous visits, but i thought it was VERY noisy on my visit a couple days ago, despite the fact that we had a corner booth sort of out of the fray. Good place. Attentive service. Go.

Delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed the calamari and steak. Tasty aoli and bread all around. All the food was prepared beautifully and served promptly. Nice selection of wines and a lovely atmosphere. Great seating for large parties and a private room for events. I agree with another reviewer in that the location is peculiar, but well worth the visit.

The place is in the middle of nowhere. The customers are mostly office workers from nearly businesses, so the place is bumping on Thursday and Friday nights. On other days of the week you may find yourself dining alone. The food is OK. Beer selection is very limited.

Amazing. I went with my boyfriend and a friend. Every plate there was clean except mine because I was too full to finish. Best fried calamari I've ever had... you could actually taste the fish flavor! We got the shrimp scampi, seared tuna and chicken piccata. Also endulged in the warm chocolate cake for desert it ended up being an expensive meal with two drinks each but well worth it.

Business brought me to Wilmington for the day and the company I visited scheduled our lunch break at Capers & Lemons. The restaurant itself is relatively new, there's still a "now open" sign down the road a bit, although I don't think they need it. When we arrived around 1 it was still pretty busy. The decor is contemporary; earth-toned walls, dark wood, and a cute little wine bottle waterfall behind the host stand. There's also a little gourmet market off to the side - stocked with prepared meals, olive oils, cheeses and other items. I wasn't a fan of the table selected for us, had I been hosting the meal I would've asked to be re-seated at a round table. Fitting 5 people in a long booth was a bit of a pain, with three people on my side of the booth it was a snug fit. It's also difficult to slide across a booth (while wearing a dress) in a ladylike fashion. Also, the booth was so deep that our server had us passing items to/from him since he couldn't reach. The menu is noticeably heavy on chicken and mushrooms, the latter I learned is because Wilmington is "mushroom country." Being a fan of neither, I went with the tomato risotto, a dish with neither ingredient. The risotto, generous in portion, was served with rock shrimp, asparagus and parmesan. I thought it was quite good, flavorful, well cooked rice and plenty of shrimp. All in all this is a solid place, a nice little oasis from a day spent in conference rooms and airplanes.

An odd location but worth the trip. We had a flatbread with fresh mozzarella and spinach. I had the bolognese, wife had the shrimp ravioli. All dishes were very good. The service was excellent as well. There was a minor mix-up on my order and but the quickly fixed it and in the interim the manager came over to oversee the issue. Decor and the general feel of the place is very good as well. Definitely something worth a return trip.

Went for lunch with colleagues. Had been to C&L previously for a group dinner and had liked the food. A little difficult to find as some others have also pointed out. There was a wait for lunch, but they did a good job in finding us a comfortable seating fairly quickly. Bar seating looked comfy as well. We sampled pretty much all the sandwiches. Fresh, and excellent. My favorites were the chicken Maltese and the C&L burger. Given that it was so packed, service was excellent. Our server was certainly under time pressure, but was knowledgeable and very courteous. There is a little shop attached to the restaurant where you can pick up freshly made sauces and such. Nice!

Just back from an excellent dinner at Capers & Lemons with my wife, daugher .and son-in-law. The food was delicious and the service attentive and professional. We definitely will return and highly recommend this restaurant. We started by splitting a special egglant appetizer on flat bread which was excellent Two of us then split a caesar salad (our waitperson correctly told us it was large enough for two) and two had cups of the split pea and tomato basil soups - all excellent. For entrees two of us had chicken piccata (appropriate for a restaurant named capers and lemons!), one had the salmon, and one had a special red snapper entree. Everything was very well prepared and flavorful. We arrived at 5:45 PM on a Sunday night and were seated promptly. When we left around 7 there were still a few empty tables. Very nice venue. Great place for a great dinner!

I've eaten here a dozen or more times for lunch or takeout and I order the same thing again and again -- the Italian Grilled Cheese. The restaurant is beautiful. The outdoor space is quaint. Great place for a celebration or special meal.

A return visit to Lemons and Capers was decent but nothing exciting enough to rush back for. We started out with excellent bruschetta with what appeared to be buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes. It was really good. Our calamari was decent but nothing memorable, and seemed to be overshadowed by a murky red sauce. For the entrees we had the salmon which was decent but a bit overcooked. It was served with orzo that was very salty...more or less inedible. Others in our party had the Caramelle butternut squash filled pasta. It was good but was served in a too-buttery sauce. The cioppino we tried featured decent seafood but was not all that flavorful. Desserts included an excellent lemon sorbet and a run-of-the-mill chocolate cake which is not made in house and did not seem fancy or rich enough. Although the service was spectacular, paying so much for a so-so meal no matter who is serving it to you never seems quite worth it.

Stopped by for a late lunch with a friend this past weekend. It was a nice day, so we elected to sit outside in the covered outdoor space. Toasted bon voyage with my friend with the C&L bellinis. The drinks were strong... we could smell the alcohol from the moment the drinks arrived at the table. They were a rosy red color from the strawberries, and frozen so they lasted in the heat. My friend and I decided to split the eggplant appetizer. I ordered the Italian grilled cheese, and my friend got the scampi romano. We waited for a bit, then our entrees were brought out. Our waitress forgot to put in the appetizer! But, she apologized a few times, and as it was, we had too much food. My grilled cheese was delicious-- it has mozzarella, fontina, pesto, and tomatoes. I think I paid a lot more for a sandwich half the size at the MOMA cafe. My friend really enjoyed her dish, but had to take about half of it home, it was a big lunch time serving. It had a nice atmosphere, and it looked like a customer friendly restaurant group. I'd go back if I was in the area. One note, that other Yelpers noticed-- it is literally in the middle of nowhere... there are large medical companies all around, and the outdoor area overlooks the parking lot. I saw a man walking his dog on the surrounding area, but I have no idea where he could be living.

My husband and I went here for the first time last night for a late dinner. We were happy to get seated since it was it after 9 when we arrived. I have say it was odd that we had to wait so long for our drinks since there were only two other tables having dinner. It then became obvious to us that the cook and other employees were enjoying there own dinner at a table nearby...so we were left to wait for our meals as well... Apparently if the cook is eating his own dinner you can expect to wait until he's finished. The fish special was mediocre and the pizza was barely warm. Although our server was very nice we will not be back based on the food and the wait.

What can I say? This place is hands-down delicious!! Every single thing I've tried has been wonderful - every single thing! How do they do it?? The happy hour specials are pretty good - I'm not a beer drinker, but each of their HH specialty drinks are only $4 and spectacular (especially the blueberry martini!). And you can enjoy that happy hour while scarfing down their amazing rosemary homemade chips at the bar. The bar staff is great too - my glass is never empty for long! Elsewhere on the menu, the calamari is the best I've tried - ever, anywhere, hands down! And if you're looking for something light to share with friends, may I recommend their cheese platter? Three or five cheese selections with honey (on a honeycomb!), jam, almonds, and bread. Love, love, love this place - highly recommend!

The restaurant is like a beacon from the road...seemingly Shangri-La because you can't get to it easily (or at least I couldn't navigate the office complex very well ;-) The atmosphere is surprisingly simultaneously intimate and open...and jeans would seem inappropriate. (So...a great first and subsequent date place!) Now, the FOOD! Olive oil & bread, naturally...but one nice touch: elegantly sliced fresh garlic in the oil. I see this as serving multiple purposes: if you want a garlicky bite, you shall have one; if not, it can be avoided. And the garlic is not so pungent, that should you be stealing a kiss or receiving one later, the garlic will not interfere, even if the other diner has not partaken in the garlic and you have ;-) As I was there with girlfriends, and we had much to divulge, we went carb-crazy and ordered the fig flat-bread AND bruschetta along with the bread & olive oil already on the table! The fig flat-bread is so beautifully executed, and cut small enough to be like a cocktail-sized canape, yet each perfectly-toasted crusty bite delivers a beautifully caramelized, crispy prosciutto, creamy goat cheese deliciousness! As for the bruschetta - as tomatoes don't seem to be in season :-( the bruschetta didn't quite have the firmness I personally prefer..,however, the flavor is fresh...but the BREAD! The bread served has such an aromatic wood-smoky flavor - you don't even need the tomatoes! I encourage any and all to try the bread they serve sans tomatoes on the first bite! To round out the carbs - we ended with the delectable tiramisu, which was so creamy...mmm...and not too heavily soaked with espresso that the cake gets mushy! Buon appetitio! P.S. I always love the friendly, good-humored waitstaff!!!!!

You would never know that there is a real nice Italian restaurant at this location. My friend told my wife and I about this place and we finally had a chance to go try it out. It was worth the drive from Newark (not that far by the way). It was night time, but as we approached the restaurant, we could clearly see that it was really nicely done up. First, we didn't even expect a restaurant to be at this location, but for it to be so fancy looking was a different story. Staff and service was great, not one complaint and folks seemed to sincerely care about how your meal went. We ordered Calamari for apps and enjoyed it very much, my wife had the salmon and thought it was good. I ordered the scampi romano, and also truly enjoyed it. Did I mention the decor was extremely nice... Price was fair....guess someone needs to pay for the nice looks. Would recommend and will come back..if we don't get lost trying to find it.

My wife and I went to Capers & Lemons with my grandparents. It has a great atmosphere, nice bar area. Our server Rick was amazing. We had several courses , and each were better than the first. Everything was fantastic. We don't live in town, but my grandparents do. They said they will start going often. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Next time we come to town, we will definitely coming to eat at this restaurant!

It was alright. A friend was taking me to lunch. Had the stuffed meatball to start and then the chicken piccata. Wasn't impressed by either but both were good. The meatball wasn't very stuffed of anything other than.. meat. It was moist and flavorful, though. The chicken piccata was mild and unexciting. I'd order something else if I were to do it again. My friend had something that was one of the lunch specials; something with a cream sauce stuffed with spinach, cheese and mushrooms. It was delicious. I would eat that until I felt sick if I could. Also, everyone eating lunch there happened to be retired. Or about to die of old age. I'm glad I didn't dress like a bum.

This is the closest place to our home and I'm soo very happy about that. Great atmosphere, food quality, and service. I don't think they gauged how popular this place would become. It's difficult to get a seat at dinner time during the winter months when the outside dinning section isn't open. Would typically be 5 stars, but have a few reservations. I feel that they could do a better job at lunch and offer more of a variety on the menu at dinner. They have a great wood fired oven and I feel that it's under utilized because they don't want to be known as "that kind" of a restaurant. The pizza's that they do offer are good, but they only offer a handful. Would like to see more dinner specials and a better mix of entree's. Favorite item, the "Funghi Pizza". I can't stop eating this pizza. Delish!

I would like to shake the hand of the person who opened Capers and Lemons because I am guessing they are laughing all the way to the bank. For those in the immediate area during work hours, this place is a god-send. It is a great place to take larger groups (and smaller groups, too!) as they take reservations and there is always something for everyone on the menu. I always get the chopped salad, which is so good. My mother had the tuna salad yesterday, which she said was salty, and she had the fig flatbread for appetizer. It was a little too hot for me, but it was good. I have never had their pasta dishes, but those dining with me have and have said they are fantastic, albeit a little on the smaller side.

I have been a frequent diner of Platinum Dining Group's Delaware-area establishments (like Dome and Eclipse), so I was excited to see this addition to the group. I dined here in different capacities four separate times and had a variance of experiences. With take-out, the restaurant did not place the food under heat lamps or other methods on two separate visits to keep it warm and therefore was cold once I returned home and started to dig in. In the past, visits to the restaurant resulted in just okay meals. Nothing bad, nothing great. However, each time back, the end result has been better. It's great to see improvement over the last year or so. The service is solid, doing the little things but not being pestering. The menu is expansive and food execution is pretty good. The ambiance is also solid, but not trying to be anything it's not. All in all, solid in most areas and definitely worth a trip in the Wilmington area.

My husband and I visited Capers & Lemons a few weeks ago on a Friday night. I had heard reviews that said the place felt like a chain and was too boxy. I personally liked the simple lines and colors and I loved the fountain at the entry (it looks like it is made out of old wine bottles). The bar was large and looked like a nice place to have a drink.. I went to the market and asked the attendant a simple question about one of the oils . . . blank stare . . . clearly the staff is not trained to really sell the products, just to ring you up. Our server was great and our food was mixed. I got deep fried zucchini strings and I wouldn't get it again. My husband got the balsamic onion flatbread which he enjoyed. For dinner, my husband got the romano crusted chicken which sounded great but for him was not "anything to write home about". Mine on the other hand was phenomenal. I got the salmon which was grilled with garlic spinach, orzo and lemon-caper sauce. My husband even liked it and he doesn't even like fish. Overall I enjoyed the experience and would return.

If you want to be see and be seen in Wilmington right now this seems to be the place or at least it was the night we were there. We were a large party and had great attentive service. When I mentioned to the waitress I was gluten free she told me what she knew I could eat. When she took the order she said "we flag them for the kitchen to make sure they get it also. The chicken piccata was great as was the polenta sandwich. Great place for a group.

Great experience yet again. Had to get that delicious calamari another time! My husband and I also got the cheese plate and it was tasty. Go here!

I agree with previous reviews that this restaurant is sort of in the middle of nothing else. We waited 35 minutes for a table for lunch, which tells me I'll remember to make a reservation next time before I go. For appetizer we ordered a tomato basil soup - good; fried calamari - comes with olives and capers, good addition; fig flatbread - glad I tried it but don't think I'll go for it again. For an entree I ordered a boston bibb salad, nothing really exciting about it except for the toasted walnuts. My niece ordered a tuna salad - tuna steak and string bean salad, looked good. My other niece ordered the Italian grilled cheese - grilled cheese on panini bread - the bread was a bit too hard but the chips were delicious! It's a place suitable for business meals, and certainly provides a very nice cozy atmosphere for a night out, or a nice lunch. I'd come back again for sure but won't get the boston bibb salad!

Capers & Lemons was busy when we came in on a very cold and rainy day after Christmas. They had a ton of space and our table of ten was well taken care of. I had a great wine, but I had nothing to do with picking it out, so I am not sure which wine it was. We started with the antipasto (mozzarella, salami, arthichokes... not sure what else, but it was good), the calamari, the polenta sandwich, and the crispy zucchini strings. I had a sampling of all of them and the best was the polenta sandwich. I had a caesar salad, which left things to be desired. For dinner, I had gnocchi bolognese.... yum!! It was recommended by our waitress, who did a great job serving us. The bar looked large and accommodating.

Yummy dinner & overall dining experience. Arrived about 6:45 on Friday evening. Waited a few minutes for a table. Although it was busy our waitress was great & attentive. I had the bibb salad to start and then the mushroom stuffed rigatone w/ arugula& squash sauteed in truffle butter. Tore it up. The salad had a bit too much dressing but otherwise all was good.

This place is about a mile down the road from my parents house so I have been here a handfull of times when I am down in Delaware to visit them. I think overall the food here is above average and the prices are resonable for the quality you are getting. I have only ever been for lunch which runs about $10-$12 for a sandwich. It's not anything life changing but it is definetly quality food. This place is a nice addition to the typical fast-food/chain options that abound in the area.

  • Melinda J.

My husband I have been there before and enjoyed the food, so I'm not complaining about that. It's just that there is routinely a 45 minute or longer minute wait, and they don't take reservations. Bad combo, very irritating! Hockessin is a suburban area, granted, but there really are some other good restaurants around that WILL take reservations. I might expect that in New York, but around here if I show up for a long wait, it should be that I spaced out and forgot to make a reservation. it just seems snotty around here.

My first impression on my first visit: who knew this was here? I knew the area was starting to get more and more food-centric (as compared to 10 years ago); so, this was a pleasant suprise. Italian inspired - good wine and good food. The calamari appetizer has a very nice light breading with, of course, capers and lemons. Seasonal specialties are good. This is worth the visit when in the area!

Nice restaurant. Good service. Dined with a friend on a weekend afternoon and had a very long leisurely late lunch. They didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome when we stayed to chat. I enjoyed my mushroom bruschetta. All the food was good.

One member of our party complained about the quality of food (his clams were chewy) and the lack of mussels as per menu description. The waiter said he would address the issue but never returned with any answer or explanation. That is so wrong on so many levels!

Anywhere.

Nice restaurant. Good service. Dined with a friend on a weekend afternoon and had a very long leisurely late lunch. They didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome when we stayed to chat. I enjoyed my mushroom bruschetta. All the food was good.

The food is okay but the service is so slow its unbearable, its not worth the experience. Went with some friends, and we waited 45 mins just to order.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
