Good place for a quick bite! Beware a small meal doesn't exist on their menu! Great place ... That being said the dessert case is huge and ominous! Big trouble! They are beautiful. Cakes galore along with pies, and many other treats! They have a breakfast buffet on the weekend. Lots to chose from!

Do not come here!!!! The people who work here are nice but that's the only nice thing to say about this place. The food was gross. I ordered an eggs Benedict, and when it came out it had a mustard yellow greenish blob on top of the poached egg trying to look like hollandaise sauce, with dry home fries. My husband ordered French toast and eggs and his eggs were cold and dry, and the syrup to put in the French toast was very watery. Now if you happen to come here, ignoring my warning... Please do not go into the bathrooms, or you won't want to eat anything else for the rest of the day. Unless you enjoy seeing poop explosions in every toilet and poop water on the floor from the clogged toilets overflowing, head right in!!!

WHAT A GREAT FIND!!! We were heading home from Ocean City, MD to Northern NJ - on a freezing cold, snowy, windy day. Starving, we stumbled across a sign on the highway for the Hometown Diner - we pulled into the parking lot where we saw a strip mall, with little shops and a larger hardware store (ACE? I think). We were ready to pull out and get back on the highway since we didn't see the restaurant, but I told my husband to drive around the side of the building. Ta-Da!! Found it - and thankfully, we did. We walked in - the place is huge - typical diner, nothing fancy, and there were a lot of empty seats, except for the booths where we sat - there were about 7 tables with customers (about 10AM on a Sunday morning). I noticed a chalkboard that stated 'breakfast buffet' adults $6.99. I figured 'oh great, how good can a $7 breakfast buffet be?'. The hostess sat us and I wandered over to peek at the buffet. Holy buffet! That was the tastiest looking food I have ever seen at a buffet, or pretty much anywhere. it all looked so fresh, steamy hot and tasty. I went back to the table as the waitress came by - we ordered 2 coffees and waters. She brought them out immediately, along with a small carafe of more fresh coffee. She said if we wanted the buffet, it's basically everything on the breakfast menu, but if we wanted toast or made-to-order omelets, to let her know and she'll have the kitchen make it up for us (included in the cost of the buffet). You'd be CRAZY NOT to get the buffet. We headed over and loaded our plates - I had the scrambled eggs with peppers and onions mixed in, a biscuit and sausage gravy with a little chipped beef on the side (YUM YUM YUM), the corned beef hash (the only item I wouldn't get again - I just didn't like the taste of it), the scrapple- never had it before, had to try it - was NOT disappointed - kind of like a toasted/fried piece of sausage/bacon/corned beef - not really sure what was in there, but it was good (maybe I don't want to know!), a piece of French toast, some perfectly cooked bacon (don't you hate when you go to a buffet and the bacon is undercooked and rubbery?? This bacon was PERFECT - not burnt, but crispy and hot! How did they do that!!!) There were also grits, which hubby tried, pancakes....just way too much food to remember it all. Whatever you wanted, they had! Cereal, fruit, all the breakfast fixins. Put it this way, I would head back down south via this route, just to hit up this diner for their food, and absolutely friendly hospitality. Our waitress was a sweet, sweet woman. She sent us on our way, in the cold snow, with a prayer and some positive thoughts for a safe journey home. God Bless you Hometown Diner - why oh why can't you be in MY hometown!
