We had passed Fat Daddy's on our trips back and forth to the beach and had been wanting to stop. Recently during a winter trip to the beach we were heading back on a Sunday and it just felt like the right time. I had read no Yelp reviews, I had no real expectations, we went in just hoping for some good BBQ. There were two of us and we split a platter with a rack of ribs, half chicken and two sides. I'll start with the sides - I love coleslaw - I'll pretty much eat anything you call coleslaw - but it has to be the perfect combo of not too soggy and not too dry for me to actually say it's good. I mean, I'll eat it regardless, anyway, this coleslaw was really, really good. It was the closest thing to my Mom's that I have ever found. The Mac n cheese was also delicious. The ribs were out of this world. The only thing we weren't over the moon for was the chicken, and I seriously think it was just because everything else was so good that it paled a little in comparison, but it was still good. And the people were great, our servers were so nice, we were greeted by everybody. We can't wait to back and try the brisket!

We've eaten at Fat Daddy's four times since we "discovered" them on a trip back from Bridgeville a few weeks ago. The outside appearance of the place gives the impression of a biker bar but don't let that fool you. Since there's no beer, there's no bikers! The place is a small family-run inexpensive BBQ business that's been open a couple of years. The meats are smoked on site by Chef Jeff and the sides are freshly home-made by Mama Frey. Our take: generally fabulous on the three sandwiches - smoked seasoned brisket, pulled pork and the smoked pit beef. The ribs are also fantastic. The chicken - okay, but not in the same league. Now here's the downside - when the ribs and brisket are "on" they are unbeatable, but we had one time when the meat was a bit dry, not horribly dry, just a tiny bit dry. A splash of BBQ sauce helped. The pit beef and pulled pork are a bit more consistent by virtue of the prep method. The pit beef is smoked to rare then finished au jus when ordered. The sides are generally very good. We ranked them in order of preference as: baked beans, potato salad, mac & cheese, french fries. Don't miss - home-made lemonade. We never had room for desserts. For their very reasonable prices, its well worth the stop. Especially for dinner as we have heard that the Georgetown law firms have discovered Fat Daddy's and it can be busy in the noon to 1:00 timeframe. All in all, Fat Daddy can expect many years of return business from us.

This place is awesome. Just dropped in with 25 people (baseball team). First of all, "David E" probably should stick to salads and sushi (or carrots and apples) as this BBQ is as good as it gets. Brisket is excellent. Potato salad and beans abs nachos are great. Finally, don't forget the milk shake!!!

Discovered this place by accident with JoshInChains. We were on a whirlwind Delaware state tour and passing through Bridgeville. One of us had to pee and both of us were starving. We agreed to eat at the next roadside place we saw, assuming it would be an Amish outdoor cookery. Luckily for us we found Fat Daddy's. This has to be the best BBQ I have ever had. I am not a huge fan of BBQ, but I know realize that is only because I have not had really good BBQ enough times. Took food, left money. Thanks for the eats!

Randomly stumbled upon this great BBQ place on the way out of Ocean City. It is on the side of the road but we saw the reviews on it and decided to give it a go anyways. Let me just say that everyone was so glad we did stop by and I think everyone has to stop here. The prices are really inexpensive too. Our waitress was extremely attentive and sweet. I got the beef brisket platter with a side of green beans (attempt to be healthy after almost a week at the beach) and potato salad. The beef brisket was so amazing, it was soft and flavorful. The potato salad was also really delicious but I could've done without the green beans.. they were a little too soft for my liking. I also got a bite of my friends' pulled pork and that was really good too as well as the mac n cheese. There was an extra basket of fries that they had given us - on the house. This place is a must try!

Stopped by here on the way home from the beach just to try it out. I purchased the pull pork platter with baked beans and Mac and cheese. It was great! The food was sort of spicy, mainly the pork. But the food was very moist and tender! I will definitely come back!

This place has the best brisket, smoke flavored ribs and chicken wings! The applesauce is a complete surprise and a delightful treat! Great loaded fries, wonderful coleslaw and hot wings!

We always stop here on the way to the beach. Incredible BBQ, especially the brisket which is the best beef brisket I've ever had. The baked beans are full of flavor too. If you have room try a cornpone, a richer cornbread like dish.

3.5 stars... Fat Daddy's is a great BBQ spot located off the beaten path in rural Delaware. They feature a long bar, a side dining area, and an outdoor patio with picnic tables in sand. Prices are very good, among the best I've ever paid for BBQ, almost everything is under $18, most meals are $9-14. I was able to get 1/2 rack of ribs, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and beans for $18. Beers start at $3.50, again a great deal. Service was very slow but once the place started emptying out the service was more attentive and friendly so maybe they were just stressed with a rush of customers. I thought the pulled pork was excellent. They put more indredients in their pulled pork than I've experienced before which added to the complexity of the flavor and they don't top it with thick sauce so you can really taste the meat. The beans were very unique and had great flavor to them as well. The mac and cheese was rather average but not bad. The ribs were a tad thin meat wise and was more tough then I've had in a while. It wasn't bad but not something I would recommend ordering here. My girlfriend got the Cuban and was very happy with it. Overall I was satisfied with my meal but I've definitely had much better BBQ before and was a little suprised at their 5 star rating.

What a find!! We ended up here 2 days in a row, while the boys played baseball at Sports at the Beach. Highly recommend pulled pork. It has some "pop". If you like spice, you'll love it. The ribs and wings also got rave reviews from the boys. Take a small group or the whole team. Super, friendly service. Can't wait to visit when we're back in the area. BTW... Fat Daddy's is "just past" a well marked veggie stand. Approx 15 minutes from SATB.

Would have loved to try but they are not dog friendly with outdoor seating. What a bummer!

You have to stop at this place! In a word YUM! The sauce is awesome! I couldn't get enough! It sure hit the spot after a day at the beach.

I've eaten at a lot of BBQ places around the country the past few years and Fat Daddy's is as good as any of them. I had the pulled pork and brisket combo with cole slaw and baked beans as my sides. Everything was fantastic. They make a Carolina style pork which I don't typically care for but theirs was delicious. The brisket was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The baked beans were almost indescribably good. Fat Daddy's is a place you'd probably drive by numerous times before noticing. However, you need to be on the lookout for them and stop here the next time you are driving on 404 outside Bridgeville, DE.

I was in the area on business. I am a fat Mama from Tennessee so when I say the food here is AWESOME, I know what I am talking about. I had the chicken (huge half chicken) platter with beans and mac and cheese. The chicken was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I went back two days in a row, once for lunch and once for dinner. Consistent and Oh! So tasty! I never would have thought I could find such good bbq north of The Mason Dixon line. This is the best restaurant in this area! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is quaint. Did I mention that the food is AWESOME? If I ever get to return to this area, this will be my first food stop!

i had 2 meats and my son had 3 meats. i really liked the pulled pork. it was very juicy, with the spicy BBQ. Mmmmm! The place was crowded, but everyone was personable. The owner came out, multiple times, and asked people, "How was the food?" Delish!

Great BBQ spot. We had the mix it up platter with brisket, ribs, Mac and cheese, and fries. Meats were delicious, mac and cheese was good, and fries were great. Great price for BBQ as well, platter fed two and we paid about $18 for it. Will definitely be back whenever I am headed back up to Bethany.

Great food. BBQ you can eat with a spoon. The brisket was so tender and juicy. We had the collard greens, baked beans, and the French fries - all very good! Amazing local find

Me and my family found this place on a road trip and what a wonderful find. Sweet tea, pulled pork, brisket, baked beans and fries were all so yummy. I will definitely visit fat daddy's again when I'm in the area.

Stopped min for lunch on the way to Bethany. Super friendly staff. Food came quickly, was delicious and there was plenty of it. I highly recommend it.

All three times I have visited, I have been wowed! The barbecue is done impeccably, and the sides (usually forgotten items at barbecue restaurants) are awesome! The baked beans are the BEST ever! Definitely stop by on your way to the beach or, if you are a local, like me, any time!

Cheese steak was delicious. Great prices and very good value. Greek salad was a little small for price. I would definitely order from here again. They deliver!

This place is money! I am now and will continue to be a frequent patron and Piggy rewards card holder. The brisket is so damn good. It's gonna be hard to get something else, but the ribs are on my radar.

I love this place! Best pork bbq and cornpone! The pulled pork nachos are delicious!! The staff is wonderful and the owners are friendly.

This is my favorite place for BBQ. I wish I could come here more and not have to take a vacation to get here. Instead of cornbread they serve cornpone which is very moist. I ordered the pulled pork which is so delicious. First bite you're slammed with flavor and a bit of bite from the "secret spices" which Is even better when you add their barbecue sauce. The ribs must have been smoked for all day because the smokey flavor is ingrained deeply in the meat. The Mac and cheese is great. My only reservation is that the coleslaw has an overwhelming mayonnaise flavor when eaten alone, but understandable when added to the pulled pork sandwich. I wish I lived closer. Once everyone was served the cook made his rounds to make sure everyone was happy. I'm shocked that the place isn't packed on Friday during lunch time.

We just want to say the pulled pork is just really delicious and had a genuine smoked taste. The barbecue sauce had a nice taste to it with just a little bit of spicy heat in it. The owner came out to the dining room , greeted everyone and asked if the food was good. We ate here because of all the great reviews on Yelp and we're not disappointed.

Great smoked baby backs. Could have been a tad more tender, but we also got there later. We are already repeat customers. The owners are friendly and clearly about what their customers' experience. On a previous trip, my stepmom really enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich.

Stopped here on way back from a week long trip to the beach. We stopped after an iPhone search on Yelp led us there with the 5 star reviews. I have to say we weren't disappointed at all!! The food was well worth the stop! Brisket was phenomenal, pulled pork sandwich was fantastic but was shadowed by the brisket sandwich. Echoing another reviewer, the fries were like Thrashers (though I wouldn't say better...hard to beat Thrashers). Chicken tenders for kids left a lot to be desired, but that was only complaint. Everything else was fantastic. We will definitely stop there again next year!!!

Wonderful food! Great flavor I had the pulled pork sandwich and I definitely recommend it. The restaurant is cute and small, located right off the road. Oh and good staff.

A bit over rated, but glad we tried it. Pork was good, brisket over seasoned over cooked. Beans and corn pone were good. Might make a better sandwich than large order to go. The packaging makes reheating impossible with out a roll of foil. Ask for sauce to go, or you will have to hit the 7/11.

Best Hot Wings I have ever had. Incredible Carolina Pulled Pork.

  • Kial S.

Best BBQ I've had in while. The pulled pork was seasoned perfect and cooked to perfection and I could have eaten it plain, but, I obviously had to try the BBQ sauce... Excellent idea... Their BBQ is a spicy tangy sauce that's just enough to bite the tongue but not so much to make you sweat. Mac-n-cheese was really good and cheddar cheesy. The baked beans were really good and the most unique flavor I've ever had, Almost a green tomato salsa sort of taste... Absolutely delicious. And the cornpone... Wait... What's cornpone you ask? De-lic-ious... Essentially cornbread without the flour. It's sweeter and you can eat it with a spoon. this is a MUST STOP if you are a BBQ fan. Also... We stopped on the way back for ice cream, also a fantastic idea.

This place is just great. Don't let this little hole in the wall on Rt 404 out in the middle of nowhere between Georgetown and Bridgeville fool you--because it is a whole lot of flavor. Was in there 2/23/2013 with my brother after getting a few recommendations from folks all the way over in Long Neck. Definitely worth the 30+ minute ride from Lewes or the beaches. I had the brisket sandwich and corn pone. Also tried the baked beans, best I've ever had. My guess is they get put in the smoker for a bit. No complaints. My guess is that these people will have to move to a bigger location or open a new location to handle the demand. Went in at 11:45 AM and most of the tables are full. If the house is full, order take out-- it is that good. Just one request to the owners, please get some "un-sweatened' iced tea. I don't drink sugary beverages because all of my calorie allocation is going towards your delicious food.

Stopped here for a quick bite after a trip to the beach. We originally had planned to stop at another BBQ place along the way but it was closed and thank goodness for that! Fat daddy's was incredible! I wasn't even hungry, but I did not want to stop eating! The Carolina sandwich was delicious and the wings were even better. They were huge and juicy with a fantastic homemade BBQ sauce. If you stop here, you MUST order the wings! The sandwich was served with fries that tasted similar to thrashers, but better. Oh and make sure you order the sweet tea too! Can't wait to go to the beach again just so I can eat here!

The pulled pork is quite simply as good as this dish can get. The beans are uniquely spicy and flavorful. My only regret is not having bought enough to eat for the rest of my life, as this place and the food it serves, is on another plane.

Had driven by this place many times on my way back and forth from the Baltimore Washington and Bethany Beach areas. Hadn't stopped because of the constant turnover in restaurants at this location. Very glad we decided to stop. Had a Beef Brisket Sandwich Platter that was as tender and tasty as they come. My wife had the ribs that were good and meaty. All the homemade sides: greens, coleslaw, baked beans, mac&cheese were good. Especially good was the side order of wings we had. Very Juicy and flavorful. This is a family business and every one is friendly. Will definitely stop by again. Advice others to give it a try.

Stopped here in Jan on my way back to VA. Awesome. The girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful... the pit master even came out front to greet me. The brisket was killer... No need for sauce. I'll be back... Lots more to try. Nice job!!!

Well, this place will soon become iconic and hard to get a table at. Really spectacular food - top notch bar b q. Not only is it great quality, but also the flavors are very unique and interesting. The beans and chicken, both delicious, were cooked with a blend of spices that was different and original. The pulled pork and pit beef were more traditional and equally delicious. Finally, the ribs we tried had a perfect balance of smoke and sauce. The Mac and cheese is cheesy, buttery and delicious. We'll be back.

  • David E.

honestly....I don't see what all the fuss is over this place..had the pulled pork and brisket platter.....both platters food was decent...not out of this world or anything..to much spice in the pulled pork...brisket so dry it was like eating cardboard...each side one small scoop...really $ 26.00 for two small buns with meat and four very small sides that were pretty palin.....over rated.....don't waste your time ...never to return...

I love this place, been there twice, have had the ribs, mac & cheese, and pulled pork sandwich all were excellent, but the brisket was the best I've ever had. I'll be back to try everything else. The place is perfect, please don't change a thing.

Great Bar-B-Q sandwiches. Very friendly and quick service. We got the wings, Pulled Pork Sandwich and Brisket Sandwich. Large portions. You definitely should stop here on the way to or from the beach.
