Oh, what a horrible experience, at this point, I am not coming back. I have been to Jakes since the first one opened in a little dive on ogletown rd. went for dinner takeout around 6:40 PM on 11/30 with my wife and daughter. no pumpkin shake available, no fried chicken sandwich avail. I look at the menu, and there are changes: you cant order a sandwich with no cheese, you have to pay for cheese and not get it. you cant order a turkey burger without bacon, you have to pay for it and not get it. this reduces the value. there are a list of free toppings, including mushrooms, but the night manager, Mike, a very nasty and rude young man. charged me 50 cts, extra, saying that is the way it is. I pointed out that there is a list of items that cost extra under the free toppings, chili, blue cheese, etc. but mushrooms should be listed there too if that was the case. there were only 2 workers, mike and a grill worker. a customer asked the worker for pickles, he picked it up and gave it to the customer wet and in her hand, no wrapper or container, grossed both of us out. It took a half hour to get our food: 2 burgers, 1 turkey burger, order of chicken fingers, onion rings ( mike was giving us someone elses 2 fries, until I had him take it out of our bag). the banana choc shake was made after everything was bagged and ready. didnt fill the cup, about 2 inches below the top. another customer had an order that they couldnt find, they started cooking it again when they found the bag by the wash sink. total of 4 customers waiting, orders getting mixed up, had to wait to get more mushrooms and cooked onions, because they only put it on one burger. all 4 of us were amazed at the lack of organization and total wait time. it was accented by the rudeness of mike who said he had been working 3 months. overall a bad experience, I am also amazed by the pricing policy of Jakes which does not make it clear which condiments are free, and forces you to buy bacon when you will not eat it. Why cant i get and pay for only what I want? doesn't matter, after dealing with mike and an understaffed store, coming back is not an option.

The first time I've been to Jake's was in Middletown, DE. This is my first time trying the one in Bear, DE and it's safe to say I'll never be back. The chicken sandwich I ordered was poorly put together and and had toppings on it that were not displayed on the menu and that I didn't ask for. The guy at the front counter got my order wrong when I asked for the combo and the service was OK, nothing spectacular....at all. The only thing good about this place is the drinks, the fountain drinks.

I have a hard time understanding why so many places fail to scrutinize the details. The burger is fine and quite tasty although i'd prefer a better bun. Tends to fall apart pretty quickly. The milkshake is decent but nothing spectacular. Here is what I mean about the small things that make the difference eg Shake Shack. Side of cheese for the fries is what I call "chemical cheese." Super processed and nasty to the taste. At least use a processed cheese that tastes good ie Kraft cheese wiz or melt your own. French fries are frozen not fresh cut. It makes a huge difference so unless you have McDonald's money to make frozen fries taste good, cut your own. Lastly, they're supposed to be serving Pepsi products but the diet Pepsi tastes like diet RC cola instead and a quick glance past the kitchen confirmed it definitely wasn't Pepsi syrup for sure.

Closed. Gone. Out of business. It is no more. It has ceased to be. And it's been that way for months. It really wasn't a very good Jake's anyway. I only gave it a star because I couldn't post, to let you know it's current state of nothingness, otherwise. But the place that replaced it is good, you just can't get burgers there...

The word "meh" was created for experiences like Jake's. Rolled up to this lackluster place yesterday because I was in the area and needed food. Well, this place sells food but that's about all I can say for it. Big sign out front said "Under new management". Well, from the looks of past reviews this place was a real shit hole. Now it's a real shit hole under new management. The interior has been wiped clean and I don't mean that the place is clean but that every sign, picture, poster, etc has been removed or painted over and it just looks blah now. Ordered up 2 burgers and a fry. Well the burgers are not from frozen patties but that's it. No seasoning or flavor of any kind. Fries are a frozen mess and the bun is boring as hell. This place just made me sad in pants and I wanted to scarf this burger down so I could get the hell outta here. Abandon all hope!
