Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Blood Pressure at Pizza Hut

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for High Cholesterol

Keep your pizza intake to one slice to avoid high cholesterol intake while you dine at Pizza Hut. Skip Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice as it contains a high amount of fat and the sodium levels are also very high. Avoid the desserts section completely to limit the fat and sugar intake. I heart Pizza 101. Occasionally (very occasionally) the pizza crust is burnt, or it's undercooked completely, but we've been going here at least once a month over the last 3 years and it's usually just plain excellent. The only problem comes when tourists are in town, and then there's an hour wait (and that's usually when the crust is burnt or undercooked). Otherwise, it's pretty much the best pizza in Summit County. But yes, it's expensive... Locals discounts anyone?! ;)

  • Amy A.

Amazing pizza!!! I have had their pizza several times and it never disappoints What I love about Pizza 101 is all their unique specialty pizzas. My favorites are the Kermit and the Sweet Heat.

  • Diego L.

Amazing pizza, best food for après ski. Beware there are no tables to sit down and enjoy it.

    (5)
  • A B S.

Perfect NY style pizza. Great char on the dough, yeah a little pricey, but c'mon man, you're in Summit County. And the delivery is prompt! PS don't miss the wings. PPS I am from the east coast (NY area) and it passes the test

    (5)
  • Pierre D.

Ok, let's get the background here, I've lived in the east coast and had access to NY Pizza non stop. I now live near Chicago and have access to another Pizza giant. So I think I am worthy to comment on a good pizza as I've seen and did product tasting on the 2 variants out there. Unfortunately Pizza 101 is neither. But don't let that deter you from going there as from what I can see I am at odds with many other reviewers. However if you are from a Pizza loving city/state then you probably won't enjoy it. Is it the best in the area? I'm not sure, for all I know it could be? I'll give it a 3/5 because the service was good, place seemed to be clean, and we didn't get sick.

Perfect skier (or rider) lunch! Located an easy 5 minute walk (in ski boots) from the base of the Peru lift, Pizza 101 serves up yummy and hot pizza by the slice. It's significantly better--and cheaper--than what you can find at the resort! The crust is particularly good--crisp on the bottom, light and chewy on top--slightly sweet, with a yeasty smell and flavor to it. The slightly-tart sauce and the fresh-grated mozzarella blend perfectly, creating a perfectly textured and flavorful slice. From the Peru lift, look north toward Hwy 6 for the "T" shaped building across from The Goat tavern. Walk across the footbridge over the Snake, and you're there! Now that I know about Pizza 101, I'll be packing far fewer lunches for the hill.

  • Bonobo M.

Terrific pizza. Far exceeded my expectations for resort town pizza. It takes a while for them to make the pies, but that's the beauty of The Goat next door to drink during the wait.

    (5)
  • Steve R.

Very good pizza. For a ski town pizza it is very, very, very good. As others have mentioned good crust. It is a pick up place, no seating. There is ample space to stop your car and run in and pick up your pizza. I picked mine up at around 5:30 on Saturday on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and there was no problem. Staff is friendly and nice. If you get pizza anywhere else in Keystone you have missed the boat!

  • Heather J.

Good pizza, good salads, good beer.....great service! Came in on a Wednesday night right before closing(sorry!) We were greeted right away with super friendly people! Yesssaaaaa! Had a beer and some small talk with the super cool bartender while we waited for our takeout order...what a great atmosphere with friendly smiles and a laid back vibe! Deal! I'll take it! We will absolutely be back!

  • Matt A.

Another chill restaurant perfect for take away and walking distance from most Keystone condos. A bit pricey but wow, great pizza and we eat it again for lunch the next day so the coast evens out. Try my suggestion, sooooo gooood!!! SUGGESTION: Get the Kermit Pizza & Add Chicken Kermit Pizza: Pesto Sauce, Spinach, Mushrooms, Home Dried Tomatoes, and Feta Cheese 12'' $16.00 16'' $21.00 20'' $28.00

  • Jenna C.

Very delicious little pizza place. The ingredients tasted fresh and healthy, and the staff was very nice. My only gripe is that they do not deliver, and they are in kind of a hidden location.

    (5)
  • Ed D.

Ordered a regular cheese and sausage and it was good but we didn't think it was as good as the other reviews for their pizza. Maybe next time we should venture out and order one of their specialty pizzas? Pizza was delivered in about 1 hour and arrived fresh. Cost was about right and delivery was free so that was good. When I called to order they put me on hold for a good 5 minutes...they must have been busy. I didn't mind but I think this experience was just ok.

    (3)
  • Jim G.

Got delivery so can't speak for dining there, but as far as delivery it was better than chain pizza, quick, and really I give them an extra star because although they close at 10pm when I called at 9:59pm to ask their hours they said they would still take my order and deliver it which they did with a smile. Their large is pretty big, thin and pretty crisp (not NYC thin and crisp but close enough I mean it's in Colorado) and toppings we got (pepperoni, fat ham chunks and black olives) were good. I hear it's the best pizza in Keystone and it showed nothing to make me say otherwise.

  • lynne p.

Never disappoints, after having underwhelming experiences at Peppino's and Jersey Boys both of which I used to love, was so happy to be introduced to this amazing pizza! The Kermit is my favorite!

  • jean n.

So good! Hot, fast, delish!!!! Love the Godzilla and Pomodoro!

    (5)
  • Matthew A.

Fast delicious pizza! Our dinner was delivered to our condo in less than 30 minutes. We got the sweet hot pics, casper, and godzilla. 3 16" pizzas served 5 starving people well. The toppings were delicious and the crust was a perfect balance of crispy and chewy. Some of the best pizza I've had in a while. A great hope in the wall local restaurant.

    (5)
  • Stephen M.

Excellent pizza. Chewy dough with a crispy crust, well-cooked, and delicious. 6 large pizzas and 2 cheesy breads fed 20 of us. We will Be back!

    (4)
  • Heather M.

Got the Fatty and it was really good. Delivery arrived to our condo in under 30 minutes.

    (4)
  • Nate O.

Best pizza in Keystone hands down!! Beware of ordering during off season, they keep their ingredients waaaay too long and you'll likely get sick.

    (4)
  • Deanna S.

After some really wonderful skiing, we we too lazy to go pick up our dinner, so ordered for delivery. The pizza came faster than we expected and was excellent! We had the Kermit, the Italian and the Garlic Cheese sticks. All were made with top quality ingredients and were delicious! I'd recommend Pizza 101 any day. It's a bit tough to find (google maps did a better job than Apple maps), but well worth it.

    (5)
  • Stephen D.

Pizza is probably good, but I won't find out because of rude employee on the phone. Called to ask about gluten free options for one member of our large party. The mocking tone and surliness of the employee jumped out of the phone and slapped me. No thanks.

    (1)
  • Terry L.

Nice try on the brick oven pizza but there wasn't enough sauce and our pizza was not even hot when we got it home. If you want to over pay for cheap pizza..then this is the place. Oh! And the salad... I can make it better.

    (2)
  • Bonnie C.

Solid work Pizza 101! This tiny hole in the wall joint, holds about three bar stools. So obviously, it's carry out/deliver option friendly. We ordered the Sweet Heat: Pineapples, Jalapenos, and Pepperoni. Voted most popular by the group. And the Godzilla: Pepperoni, Beef, Sausage, Ham, Mushrooms, Green peppers, Onions, and Olives. Voted #1 by Me, as my favorites are always "Deluxe/Supreme" type pizzas. The Breaded Wings are also solid. Staff is friendly, food is great, you can also watch them prepare the pizzas right in front of you. Tip: Order a couple of pizzas, and bring them next door to The Goat. As long as you order drinks, they'll let you sit and eat your pizza there! Then you can enjoy a beer/games with your food :)

    (4)
  • Ryan B.

This is a small hole in the wall pizza joint that puts most all pizza places in the county to shame. They don't really have dine-in but its worth driving to for carry out. there is no place I would rather get pizza in the county, few other shops compete with pizza 101. They also have really good wings. I would definitely recommend a specialty pizza like the "casper". They also have pizza by the slice!

    (4)
  • Jett R.

This a delivery or take out place only...I recommend take out because it's quicker, you get to see the place and the crew in action. Good tunes, helpful people and terrific pizza. We took a Casper and a Fatty back to River Run and they were delicious. The dough was thin and crispy and the meat on the Fatty was crispy...will definitely return.

    (5)
  • Danielle J.

THE best pizza in Keystone....hands down. Great, NY style pizza, perfect amount of cheese and sauce. My new favorite!

    (5)
  • Andrew W.

Four stars for free delivery, but minus one star for paying for it in the pizza. Pizza 101 is not cheap. But, if you're too drunk, it's too cold outside or you had to many bong rips and need to get some food, Pizza 101 is your best bet. We ordered two large pizzas, not sure if they were super large or just large, but they were huge and expensive. I think it was around $45.00, but all five of us were stuffed and there were still left overs. I think Pizza 101 is just like every other resort business, they need to make up for the slow summer season and you know what?? Visiting skiers and boarders will pay it. The pizza is not the best I've ever had, but when you're 8 beers into the night and hungry, I was not complaining. I'm not really sure the toppings we ordered, but be careful - each topping is $2.75 for the large.

    (3)
  • Shiho F.

Pizza 101 was AWESOME and I'm sure our party enjoyed the pies even more than usual since it was the only place serving food after 8pm in Keystone during the off-season (no joke). They saved our lives and we were grateful. We enjoyed our wholesome food at The Goat next door. Nothing like a hot slice a pizza and a pitcher of cold beer. P.S. Carlos is a hottie.

    (5)
  • Betsy F.

The pizza was very good. Their ingredients tasted fresh. We really enjoyed the crust, which was flavorful and tender. It's a teeny little place, so you are going to want to eat elsewhere.

    (4)
  • Jake V.

Very solid pizza, docked a star for the service. Pizza has a lot of things going for it; chewy crust, good list of ingredients. Not crazy expensive, but not cheap either. My biggest issue with the place is that when calling in orders or picking up pies, I get the impression like my buying pizza from them is inconvenient for everyone working there. When I'm trading money for food and keeping the place open, I don't really want to feel like I'm messing up somebody's day.

  • Autumn Y.

I had done some research on places to eat in the area before our trip and Pizza 101 was one of the spots to check out- so thanks for the tip fellow yelpers! The shop is small so it is best for carry out or you can order the pizza and take it next door to the Goat. They also have delivery. I would give them 3.5 stars. The staff is friendly and helpful, prices are decent but the pizza was a bit greasy for my taste. The flavor was good but I prefer a crispier crust and less grease. The wings were really good though. They were breaded and delicious! Our group ordered the sweet heat pizza and the godzilla. Again, had good flavor and the meats were fresh but when you picked the slice up it was soggy. The location is perfect, right next to the slopes so an easy get to for lunch or a quick bite after a day skiing or snowboarding.

  • Kim W.

We were recommended this spot by hotel staff. I had a craving for pizza - which I almost never eat pizza so hubby was excited. It's kind of hidden and located right across from "The Goat." Which is also cools because you can order the pizza for take out and then eat it at the goat, as long as you order drinks! Winning! Anyway, we ordered a couple of different pizzas and all I can remember was the sausage one - it was GOOD! I am not a pizza person but for me to like it this much was pretty shocking! Maybe it's cause I was drinking? Haha, honestly you can't go wrong with this place. Decently priced and pretty freaking good, yummy!!

    (5)
  • Carrie H.

First off, the address in yelp is wrong so we had a difficult time finding this place (the address is 23046). The place is small with no seating so it's a take-out place. Our pizza was burnt on one side. The only reason I gave this 2 stars was that the staff was friendly and the pizzas were fairly priced.

    (2)
  • JJ J.

Absolutely great pizza. The crust is a little bit thick for my east coast preferences, but it has a good yeasty taste, and it's still doughy, not bready. The sauce has a good mellow taste. The cheese is amazingly good quality mozz. I've been ordering extra cheese in CO because it seems like places have been skimping on the cheese; no need to do that here. They give you a very generous amount. This is definitely greasy pizza, but I love greasy pizza after a good workout up in the mountains. Also, don't bet on eating in. I think there are 3 or 4 bar stools, and that's it.

    (4)
  • Todd U.

Outstanding quality and taste. I had the meat pizza and the calzone with jalepenos and I loved every bit!!

    (5)
  • James B.

Oh... My... Goodness! I'm pretty sure I woke the stoned sounding lady taking orders up from a nap. I asked whether it was going to take much longer as it had been 1:15 and received a "errrr I don't know..." Then I asked how much the order was and received a helpful "errrrrr I don't know...." I thanked her for her time as she did manage to tell me that the order would be out asap and shouldn't be more than another 30 mins and received a fantastic "errr whatever..." This being said, after the delivery driver told me that I was wrong about the delivery taking an hour and a half, the food is awesome and tastes so good. Only tip, the wings are real fatty and soft, just in case you like yours crispy. Probably best to go in for food if you've got the time as the delivery is a patience mission!

  • Stephanie K.

Ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Was delivered super fast. The pizza was incredible. We ordered based on recommendations on yelp and are so glad we did. Would highly recommend their pizza. Great to have it delivered after a long day of skiing.

We feel like we are qualified to comment on this place. We have dined at many NY, Chicago and St. Louis style pizza establishments across this nation. We were excited to try it after seeing on Yelp that it has such a high rating. However, there aren't a lot of restaurants to choose from in Keystone though, and we were very disappointed. We ordered three pizzas and a salad to go. Our 12" small "Fatty" was around 17.00 but def. not worth it. The crust is the best part of the pizza. There was not much cheese (even though we read somewhere on one of their ads they have plenty of cheese) and the meatballs were so tiny we could not tell they were even meatballs. The salad was in a Chinese carry out box and was alright, had mushrooms, green peppers on it which we didnt like, but that's alright. We should have asked what was on it before ordering. There were five of us, and after we ate, all of us had terrible gas, even though we had different types of pizzas. Not good in a small condo! We will not order from here again.

    (2)
  • Marilyn C.

Ordered from here twice - they are always super busy and seem to sometimes turn off their phone because of this... this is kind of strange, but I won't hold it against them. At least they know what they can and can't handle and that is admirable. Luckily, we were able to get delivery one night and then picked up a pizza another night. The delivery time was an hour and a half - but they told us that up front and it was spot on. I really liked the pizza and the salad wasn't bad either.

    (4)
  • Erin S.

Their pizza is amazing! I have had it on a few occasions and love their crust! Their stromboli is made with ricotta so just be prepared for that... it doesn't state that on the menu. They are a hole in the wall shop so it's really not for eating in. They also do slices.

    (4)
  • Kelly R.

Great crust and sauce, solid portions, decent price

    (4)
  • Chad W.

AWESOME PIZZA!!!! Best pizza in Keystone by far, friendly staff, good price for a good pie!!!

    (5)
  • Scotty V.

Ok pizza....my greatest concern was dirty dough prep area that doesn't get cleaned up each night.

    (2)
  • Rachel L.

meh. This super expensive pizza [$45 for two pizzas] place needs to get it's shiz together. First off, the crust [which is allegedly brick oven] lacked flavor. It was "cardboard-like" -- not NY style AT ALL. The pizza, which was delivered, came at room temperature. I could chalk that up to the cold cold weather, but... I can't attribute the runny pizza to the outside temperature. When someone orders ricotta on a pizza, it's the pizza shop's responsibility to make sure it's not overly runny. But, it is a resort town. I don't expect the very best. So, I'll give it three stars - afterall, it will satisfy your hunger after 6 hours on the slopes.

    (3)
  • Mike D.

Wow. This pizza was amazing. Crust was incredible! Ordered the Deluxe (Pepperoni, Beef, Mushrooms, Onions and Green Peppers) and a small salad. They delivered to our hotel room and was thoughtful enough to bring paper plates, napkins and forks. Salad was pretty small but had a lot of ingredients on it to keep it from being boring.

    (5)
  • Abbey K.

The best pizza I have ever had. There is no room to eat ther, its more of a take out place. You can walk 10 feet to "The Goat" and as long as you order a drink they will allow you to eat the pizza there, which is what we did. I already can't wait to go back for more!

    (5)
  • D G.

    Awesome pizza today Jamie!

    (4)
  • KC A.

Ordered two pizzas for delivery at 6. They arrived at 6:05, but one of the pizzas was wrong. The delivery guy caught the mistake before we did and returned 15 minutes later with the correct order. We got to keep the extra one, which was good because one of our pizzas was burned. Other than that it was tasty pizza. Not the best, but it wasn't bad.

So I may have roamed outside the Denver area in search of pizza but I figure if you spend every free moment eating pizza and boarding then it's okay to review pizza places in the mountains. Pizza 101 does have some good pizza. Now it's a little on the pricey side... think Marco's in Denver for a similar price range. Their crust is that just right NY style with the softer center that you can bend in half and a little bit of a soft crust. Not too much cheese or too much sauce. I'd honestly probably eat here more if these two things were to occur: 1. Happy hour or something to bring down those prices! 2. More seating!!! I had to wait for a table to sit at to eat my pizza one night for probably 30 minutes. Mind you the pizza was done before I got a table. Otherwise though, Pizza 101 is a good and solid place to get a slice or a pie when you need to feed your pizza demons on the mountain.

    (3)
  • Nicole M.

Awesome pizza!! We got the Casper and the Italian, both excellent!! If you're craving pizza after hitting the slopes definitely order from pizza 101.

  • Karen C.

Seriously yummy pizza in the heart of Keystone. Super friendly people working there and did I mention the pizza rocks? Well it does. And they deliver! w00t! We ordered a custom pie (meatballs, tomatoes and banana peppers) and then went over to the Goat for some drinks. They delivered it right to the bar for us where we drank some excellent whiskey and ate the awesomeness that is their pizza. Getchasome!

Me and my whole family LOVE this pizza! We got it once last year and just ate it again twice this week. Keep in mind it is a take out or delivery joint - No place to sit. The pizza is expensive, but we expect that at a resort. I would consider it one of my all time favorite pizzas.

We recently discovered Pizza 101, which delivers all year long for no charge. I haven't even seen a menu but upon calling the restaurant place a pizza order to my specification. The large pepperoni and mushroom arrived hot and excellent tasting in about 45 minutes. We also ordered a side of buffalo wings that were nicely spicey. I think I like the pizza here most of all I've tried in Keystone. You can't beat having a great pizza delivered to your doorstep in a snowstorm.

After a long day on the slopes pizza seems to hit the spot. We read some of the mixed reviews and decided to give Pizza101 a shot. We decided to call it in for pickup and that was a good call...they are very busy...because the food is spectacular! Don't just think pizza. The calzone we ordered was one of the best I've ever had and I'm a calzone kinda guy. The pizza we chose was bbq'd chicken and once again fabulous.

Pizza 101 needs to take pizza delivery 101. They said it would be 45 minutes and ended up taking over 2 hours to get our pizza. When it arrived it was cold and had to be heated up in the microwave. When we called, they expressed no concern other than it will be there eventually. Hard for me to rate the pizza since I didn't get to try it fresh, but if this is how they do business you can imagine that they don't care about good service. If you are in Keystone, I would recommend something else.

Pizza 101 is don't burn the pizza. Guess what? They did tonight. I walked in n ordered a supreme pizza. They said 20 min so I went to the Goat for a beer. Came back in 20 and had to wait. That should have been a sign. The pizza itself was good. It was prepared good, good ingredients but blacken crust. I don't want to stereo type the staff but when I saw the cooks I thought "what's up dude?" maybe it was an off night?

I feel guilty letting the public know about such a hidden spot. This was great pizza. I mean absolutely amazing mountain pie where the pizza oven heats the small space and the buffalo wings spice up your taste buds. If you have had a long day on the slopes and you are to lazy to drag your stinky but back out for dinner, order up a large pie. AMAZING.
