We haven't even left Sedona city limits yet and I am compelled to immediately write this review. This place is magical ! The beautiful home is directly under the enchanting red rocks. You are surrounded with beauty ! Driving up to the B and B took our breath away! The staff really go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. I was planing a surprise proposal for my partner and they helped me make the weekend truly memorable. They have so much material and knowledge on the surrounding areas and provide anything you could possibly need . The rooms are wonderful! We were in the Yavapai room on the ground floor (an earlier review mentioned a concern about noise with this room, but we did not experience that as they had a door buffer/pillow for sound. Additionally, we never actually heard people hanging out in the living room so we felt like we had even more privacy than most other rooms as the only ones on the ground floor. )Our room was surrounded with breath taking views and one of the most comfortable beds I've EVER slept in. We also had an amazing jacuzzi tub! All of the windows have shades that can be lowered from the top so you can see the tops of the red rock formations with complete privacy . Not to mention, it was immaculately clean. We would recommend this beautiful and exceptional B and B to anyone looking to travel to Sedona and look forward to returning. Thank you Penrose!

Beautiful background, lovely hosts, a great place to stay away from the main street but great distance to everything. The hosts were delightful and helpful with attractions around Sedona--prepared with printed lists of activities and binders full of things to do and see. This was a surprise weekend and we filled our weekend up just from talking to a host during breakfast. They provide some surprises for the guests as well. Don't miss out on this great spot to spend a romantic weekend in Sedona.

My husband and I spent the week of Thanksgiving here and had a very romantic experience. The views were amazing. I loved having coffee in the morning watching the sun rise against the red rock! What a view. The rooms were very clean. A little tight, but that comes with a b&b. The breakfast was amazing. The chef did an excellent job making the food fun and delicious. The yogurts in martini cups, the candied walnuts on maple waffles! Great job! We definitely recommend The Penrose! Thanks for the hospitality!

My Husband and I just returned from spending a delightful night at the Penrose. It is a beautiful bed and breakfast Inn with an incredible location and spectacular views. We stayed in the Kokopelli room which was tastefully decorated, very clean and comfortable. Breath taking views from the large windows and private balcony just off our suite. The breakfast was delicious and there were plenty of goodies, treats and beverages complimentary during the day and at night. We enjoyed our breakfast outside on the large patio surrounded by the beautiful vegetation and rock formations. Afterwards they invited us to have our pictures taken in several locations on their property with the Courthouse Rock, Bell Rock and Castle Rock as the background. Just a short time later we were given 3 8x10 color photos as a parting gift along with a couple of other surprise gifts. Our hosts Christie and Whitney Pope and their staff could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. They practice the Law of Value - "Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment." I highly recommend the Penrose to anyone wanting a very special getaway. We can not wait to come back and stay longer.

This B&B had nice rooms, private bathrooms, and good prices. However, their breakfast leaves a lot to be desired! We had to hit fast food afterwards to fill us up!

The Penrose Bed & Breakfast has been open 7 years and has about 6 unique rooms, each with clean private upscale baths, accurately described and photographed on their website. Each room has a view of red rock mountains, buttes, and mesas. A delicious hot breakfast with fresh fruit compote is served in a sunny room on the first floor each morning. One of the owners can provide detailed knowledge about hikes in the area, and they have local menus, books about flora and fauna, DVD/CD libraries, and beautiful patios for relaxing and enjoying the views. Rooms have small balconies. Laundry service is available. The owners care enough about the happiness of their guests not to accept outside breakfast patrons.

The guest guide book freaked me out a bit, the rules give instructions on how to avoid scorpions. I spent the night frightened of putting my feet on the floor and i'm a native to Arizona. Luckily there was no reason to freak, not a single bug seen aside from the normal, non threatening kinds. The bed was comfortable. Lots of natural light with great views from the patio. Probably not the best place for vampires. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was unique and packed with flavor. Loved the homemade candy and snacks! I still haven't figured out how to work the second head in the shower :/

My new husband and I made this our first stop on our week long honeymoon adventure. We absolutely adored the Penrose, and hope to go back every year for our anniversary. I saw a review from 2009 that said the breakfast left something to be desired. ... well I don't know if things have changed that much since then, but I can assure you that my husband and I, who are big breakfast eating people, loved it and were so full from the amazing breakfasts served all three days we stayed. The staff was so kind and accommodating, and really just made you feel at home and comfortable. We stated in the Yavapai room- the only one located downstairs, and the only one with an access door outside. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It had a big 2 person spa tub in the bathroom and huge windows that made you feel like you were outside. But honestly, even if the breakfast was bad and the mattress was a straw bed.... The views from the rooms are worth every penny. I don't think it would matter how many days we stayed there, every morning we would wake up and marvel at the beautiful red rocks surrounding us. The ONLY complaint I MIGHT have is that the walls are a little thin. We could hear everything going on in the livingroom outside ours.... which made us feel like they could hear everything going on inside our room too.... aghm.....

My husband and I had an amazing stay here on a recent trip to Sedona. Upon arrival we were warmly received and given a tour of the property. From the minute we arrived until we pulled away we felt very welcome. Our room was very comfortable and the view from the balcony was beautiful! We watched a deer and the sunset before dinner. Breakfast in the morning far exceeded our expectations! We have stayed in several places in and around Sedona and this was a favorite! We are looking forward to staying here again!

The Penrose was our recuperation spot after a climb into and out of the Grand Canyon (a two hour drive away). It was a typically nice B&B. Nothing special. The views of the surrounding red rock formations from each room make it worthwhile.

The Penrose is so charming and staff/owners are delightful and helpful. Breakfast was gourmet each day, and large enough to fill you up. Rooms are cozy but immaculately clean and equipped with modern essentials such as wifi and flat screen TV. The mattress was extremely comfortable, and the late night cookies and stocked mini fridge can't be beat. Definitely worth the cost, and I will stay again when in Sedona .

Oh beautiful Sedona! Took my mother here for 60th birthday celebration. We stayed in the Kokopelli. We went during slow season so we got a great rate for one of their best rooms! Our room was on the 2nd floor and had a fantastic view of the gorgeous rocks surrounding us. I believe the Penrose is the only bed and breakfast that is actually built on the actual rock. Our hosts Christy and Whitney were so gracious, it was honestly like staying over at grandma's house. Whitney knew all the hiking trails and had done all the hiking trails. Both he and Christy knew just about everything there is about Sedona. As soon as we arrived, Whitney began playing on the piano, they took us for a tour of the place and left us with a binder that pretty much explained everything from how to work the tv, to the major tourist attractions, to food places, and former guests' reviews on everything. We were apparently also really close to the vortex if you're in to that stuff. They left out little homemade goodies every night. There was a plethora of fruit, water, tea and snacks in the dining area. I chose this place mainly because of the 5 star advertised breakfast. They cater to the pickiest eaters! I ordered vegan breakfasts and they were promptly ready for us soon as we sat down. Francine was so helpful in booking our excursions, they even got us discounts on the pink jeep tours. At the end of our very comfortable stay, they took our photo in front of castle rock as a little souvenir and gave us t-shirts for both me and my mom! First time at a B&B and now I'm definitely a fan!
