I guess we got pampered in California with all the big portion per servings. I was kind of surprised and disapointed when we saw our orders. Very small... good for one (unless you all are on a diet). However, they really don't contain any msg in their entrees so that's a good point. Kind of expensive for a chinese restaurant. However, there's not much of an option for asians like me looking for these kinds of foods in that area.

We had friends visiting and we ordered three different dishes to share. We had the hot and sour soup which was mostly broth and the flavor was ok. We had Kung Pao Chicken, King Pao Shrimp and Szechwan Beef. All three dishes were spiced exactly the same with no difference in flavor even though the descriptions said the chicken and shrimp were Malaysian style while the beef said it was a famous dish from western China. So either Malaysia is now part of China or China moved to Malaysia because the taste was identical. The fried rice was marginal. I would not eat here again unless they get a better cook.

Very good chinese food, attentive service. We hail from NYC originally, so our standards are very high when it comes to Chinese food.

Best Chinese food in Northern Arizona! Love the caring attitude from this family run restaurant really come through. Recommend the twice cooked chicken and the noodle soups.

It's a curious contradiction (like the Scotch Koreans on the insane Starburst commercial) that a Chinese restaurant with the unfortunately gaudy name "Red Chopsticks" does not even offer customers chopsticks as place settings for lunch. Of course, that probably speaks to their primarily non Asian clientele. Further, they did not give me any special "ethnic insider" menu, not even better service, tho that's probably because the one waiter and one bus staff were pretty harried with a decent lunch time crowd. They had a good selection of items, tho I was uninterested in their special lunch rice plates. Instead I tried "Champagne Fish," which ended up being some sort of Sweet and Sour derivative. I was not disappointed. Prices are a little high (most entrees over $10) for my Chinatown sensibilities, but due to the fact that Asian American population in AZ is slightly below the national average, I do recommend this place if you want good Chinese food in Sedona. I would give this place 3.5 stars, except their pre-packaged fortune cookie was sadly bereft of any fortune. P.S. They do advertise a small selection of Dim Sum for weekend dining.

Got take out on a Tuesday night. Place was dead. Staff was extremely friendly and packed up some plates, chopsticks, etc for us. Food was basic chinese fare. Had pot stickers, egg roll and mongolian beef. Nothing wrong with any but nothing spectacular either.

We were staying across from the restaurant.. Went there for lunch and had a wonderful meal. The Moo Shu Chicken was perfectly seasoned, I highly recommend it. I was surprised to see a nice sweet and sour sauce with a wonderful taste. We had the lunch special, nice to offer a choice of salad or soups. The dish came with eggroll, a little too greasy and wonton, not enough filling. My husband had a shrimp dish, very good. They offer brown rice, a plus for us. Service was very pleasant.

I have a home in Sedona and as you know, or will find out, Sedona doesn't have a lot of eating options. This is good food and good service. The restaurant kind of looks like cheap Chinese decor meets diner. The only gripe is I don't mind paying a little extra for good food but when you give me just a little rice and charge me $2 for a small bowl more, your being cheap. Otherwise, the better Chinese food in the area. Recommended.

Excellent Chinese food in a place (Sedona) I never would have expected. We ordered the lettuce wraps, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and veggie delight with rice noodles; all were delicious. I'm from SF and know good Chinese food, and this place is definitely worth visiting when in Sedona and sick of touristy American food.

Good chinese food and fast service. Nice place to go for your chinese food fix. We all ordered a dish then split them all up. Very good

Had a late dinner that with an LA tour group on Dec 25. The service was damn slow, probably the staff were tired and indifferent. The food was almost cold, probably we arrived too late. The portion was so small, probably no more leftover food. The food was not delicious, probably the chef sucked. Worst of all, we were treated like inmates. The food was dumped into one big dish and a seperate bowl of cold curry filled with more potatoes than chicken. The waiter had no facial expression and basicaly did not give a crap about an influx of 48 customers. The food was only vegetables and nothing else much. It was late so most of us ate like inmates. Definitely not a recommendation if you were at that area.

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner - spicy empress beef and cashew chicken. The appetizer came out fast and piping hot. We're from out of town and really lucked out finding this place tucked in the back of a shopping center.

Food was amazing. 9 of us ate there family style and we ordered 6-8 different dishes- all of them were delicious. The food tasted and felt clean. Good service. All little pricey.

  • Eric S.

Food was decently spiced and flavored. Price was good for the dishes I wanted; however, other dishes seem to be pricey. I had the chicken chow mien and enjoyed it, though I agree it was a tad on the greasy side; but that comes with the food choice usually. Staff and service was quick and friendly.

My family and I got the Family Dinner combo, and our group was big enough to get all the options on the Family Dinner menu. I found that all the dishes seemed as if they were cooked with the exact same sauces and tasted pretty much the same. Most of the food they had was made for the American palate, and it did not taste like authentic Chinese food. They seemed pretty stingy about things. For example, when we asked for boxes, they refused to give us a larger box to accommodate for our leftovers until we specifically showed them what we needed it for. Also, the Family Dinner combo is supposed to come with ice cream for dessert, but they acted as if they were taking orders for our ice cream after our meal rather than just bringing it out... probably because they didn't want to give us all ice cream. On another note, it was pretty neat that they actually had red colored chopsticks (plastic ones, don't worry).

My girlfriend & I were in Sedona and had a sudden craving for Chinese and this place popped up. After reading the favorable reviews, we gave it a try and are very glad we did. Not only was the food fantastic, but the staff was very warm, welcoming and service was quick. I am not one to eat the type of "Americanized" deep fried & unhealthy Chinese food that you can seemingly find everywhere, so I appreciated the fact that the Red Chopstick featured things like all-white meat chicken, lean beef and fresh vegetables. Do not listen to the reviewers that criticize this place for not being "100% Authentic Chinese" does that even exist in America in anywhere other than Chinatown locations you may find in big cities? Bottom line: If you want better than average Chinese with friendly/quick service give Red Chopstick a try!

Came across this little Chinese restaurant on a Sunday and lucky for us, they have Dim Sum breakfast on Sunday!! We ate a wonderful array of dumplings, steamed buns, and satay. All were very good. It also looked like they had some great soups in huge portions we saw others getting but we were stuffed after our dim sum. More than we should have eaten for about $30 for tow. Definately worth a try.

Best (and only) chinese food in the village of oak creek. I've been coming here with my parents for years now and the best part about this place is the owners. Service is always great and the owners are very nice. Food is average and slightly over priced but everything in the sedona area is inflated some. I recommend the sesame cold noodles, ma po tofu, and the braised tofu. I've never had anything bad here and would recommend it to anyone in the area with a hankering for chinese food.

We were here on a week night right before closing....the restaurant was dead and so was Sedona, pretty much....and we planned it that way to avoid the crowds. Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised with this place. The staff was so accommodating and the food was wonderful....we ordered a variety of all their appetizers. We definitely plan on coming back here any time we are in Sedona.

I've thoroughly enjoyed each and every time I've gone to Red Chopstick. Everything I've had I have enjoyed. The one dish that I am soooo hooked on is the "Garlic Butter Tofu" for $9.99. The dish is also available in Shrimp or Scallops. THOSE are PHENOMENAL too! Anytime I think about the Garlic Butter Tofu, I salivate... really. As to the appetizers, the only ones I've had are the crab angels and lettuce wraps... both good and tasty. The servers are wonderful and in the Village of Oak Creek, it's my absolute go-to place. It's not a high end fancy place... just good food and good people.

Service: it was a busy night and I only saw two waitresses and a teenage girl cleaning tables and taking order for drinks. They were all storming inside and outside of the kitchen the entire time I was there. Food: my friend ordered a Thai ice tea. It was filled with milk and no tea. I took a slip of it and immediately asked them to add more tea in it. For entree, we ordered a honey shrimp and a Ma Po Tofu dish. The honey shrimp was way too sweet and all we could taste is sugar. There isn't much flavor in the shrimp itself. The ma po tofu is decent. I don't think u can mess up on tofu. Rating: Initially I was super excited that there is another Chinese restaurant in Sedona and I walk out disappointed at the authentically of the food. I still want to give it 2 star rating because my Ma Po Tofu is decent and the girl who serves table was very sweet. However, I probably will not come back here again.

I had fried rice, and the portion was kinda small, and the flavor was not so good either. :(

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars if it was just based on food and service. Both of those were beyond awesome. It was a bit overpriced in my opinion. They should be voted most friendly business in Sedona. However, we almost did not go inside. There was a dead plant by the front door and as you walk in an area toward the bathroom was quite dark and the bathrooms were not pristine and clean. Their presentation of the restaurant looked a bit aged and neglected..however the food and the service was again...amazing. We would go there again.

Food was good overall the egg foo young was the best I've had in awhile and unfortunately they didn't have something but it was a good place

Food was alright for American Chinese food. But was overpriced. I had a small portion of singapore rice noodle for $12.95 which had a lot of onion and green/red peppers.

Red Chopstick probably has the best Chinese food you are going to find in the area, (the Verde Valley doesn't exactly have an impressive selection of Chinese restaurants). The food is good, the servers are decent, and the prices aren't extravagant. There really is no reason not to go to Red Chopstick.

We drive around 8 miles from Sedona since my wife wanted Chinese in the top of the mountains and we found this place which was quite good. The butter Shrimp & Scallop (requested like that) was good, sizzling rice soup was also great and the whole experience was delightful. The portions are a little small, but don't forget where you are!

  • Suzi G.

The potstickers were fresh and GBD, substantial enough as meal, absolutely hit the spot after hiking the devils bridge. Also ordered the bbq pork noodle soup, which was freshly made but would have benefit from a different choice of noodle (they used lo mein noodles, which I've never had in soup before and never will order again deliberately). Prices are good and food is fresh, very convenient for anyone staying at village lodge (right next door).

Yum, yum and yum. We are vegetarian and were surprised at the whole page of options. There are vegetable options and tofu options. We had the Kung Pao Tofu and Buddha's Delight Vegetables. Both were great. They have taken quite a bit of time to decorate the restaurant, nice not too loud or overdone. Ask for a seat with a view. The staff was very nice and smiley. The women's restroom was very clean and there was plenty of tp. I would return. They also have take out.

Came here got the lunch special. Loved the egg drop soup which I'm normally not a fan of anywhere. Had the kung pow chicken and seasame chicken both were awesome but the seasame chicken was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend this place for a post ride lunch or dinner.

Some of the best Chinese food I've had, and Chinese is my favorite genre of food! The staff is charming, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the prices at lunch were very reasonable. I had the twice cooked chicken and my companion had the Buddhas Feast vegetarian dish. We both really enjoyed our meals. It's well worth the short drive if you're in Sedona.

I called to place an order of the buddah feast and a substitution of rice noodles instead of rice and they told me on a rude tone of voice they wont do that. I have to pay $5- extra to have rice noodles. Even though I wasnt going to get rice. $5 really?! I asked to speak to a manager and when she came on the phone. She just laughed and told me that I would have to pay the $5 or go somewhere else. Clearly they dont know how to keep cutomers. I will never go back. I would give them no stars if I could!

I'm giving this place 5 stars for the lunch Been eating here for years and never thought to make a review. What was I thinking. We'll first of all you have to try there lunch specials in the back of the menu. Everything on the lunch menu cost $7.50 to about $9.50. I've pretty much tried everything on the lunch menu and they're all pretty good. The lunch menu comes with choice of soup or salad and comes with a fried wonton and an eggroll and also choice of fried rice or steamed rice.

I haven't been here since it was the Mandarin House a long time ago. I liked it then and was pleased to see it still around. Great food. If you're passing through the Village of Oak Creek stop by.

This is the best Chinese food I've had in Arizona. The owner and staff were very nice and the food was excellent. It's difficult to impossible to find any authentic Chinese food in Arizona so I was pleasantly surprised to find some here. I highly recommend any one that is in Sedona to try them out.

    (5)
  • Caren V.

The staff are very nice but the good is not good especially with the price being so high!! I was expecting a very good meal but the mandarin pork is plain sweet n sour pork . The seafood is too pricey and very small portion! Not coming back!

  • Paul A.

The Kung Pao Tofu is pretty decent, considering it is Chinese food in Sedona. However, they charged us $1 for bringing an extra plate so we could split the order. Literally all they did was bring an extra plate, they didn't portion out the food for us or anything. Kind of ridiculous.

    (3)
  • Tim H.

We ate there yesterday and as usual, it was the BEST!!!!! Simon and Janet and Stadler do a fantastic job and if you don't try the Avocado Chicken and the Crispy Beef, you have missed the boat. Also had lettuce wraps and ribs and both were amazing. The homemade sauces cannot be found elsewhere and we travel nearly 200 miles to eat at the Red Chopstick because it is that good!!!!

Went in for lunch because of the dimsum sign. Sadly no dimsum on weekdays.I was greeted by a nice girl and asked for how many people. I requested to be seated at the patio since we brought our dog with us. She agreed. It was almost 12 so the heat was trying to get into me, good thing they have huge umbrellas on their patio table to help with the heat.....NOT. it was broken. The server and I tried to fix it for a couple of minutes, and I was the one holding the heavy part -_-' haha anyway, it was okay not her fault. So we ended up dragging the table under the roof. After that the service is sloooooooow. Some guy handed us a pitcher of water first but with no glasses or cups. After 5 more minutes the lady server came with 4 glasses then promised she'll be back. 10 minutes later she finally did. I was starting to get annoyed cos it was hot and I was hungry. I asked her a few things on the menu and she said she was very new and couldnt answer most of it. I understand that. But what I dont get is while taking down the order she bended down and wrote the order down on her piece of paper on top of our table. WHAAAAT. weird. Totally awkward. So anyway the food came faster than I expected since we already alotted a lot of time waiting for our orders to be taken. We had asian spicy wings, yang chow fried rice, lo mein and lemon chicken. Everything was smaller portion than the regular Chinese dinner sized meals Ive had before. Flavor was okay though, typical. Mediocre. They should change the name of asian spicy wings to just asian sweet wings. Cos theres not a bit of heat there. Anyway, total bill came around to 42 bucks so 50 all in all with tip for 4 people. Not that bad. It would easily be an okay experience if the service was faster and servers were properly trained. I understand the lack of knowledge of the menu since shes not Chinese as well but like the professionalism or like restaurant manners are not there either. She seemed sweet though.

Awesome! Excellent Kung Pao (spicy enough for regular strength) and the pan fried noodles were also a hit. Place is closed Wednesdays, so we had to wait a day, but it was very well worth it. If you like good Chinese food, I don't think you will be disappointed in Red Chopstick. Will definitely come again when back in Sedona!

Stayed next door at the La Quinta. Red Chopstick came highly recommended by the front desk clerk, so we decided to give it a try. LOVED our food. We had the pot stickers & sliced bbq pork, and also had the mongolian beef. Called it in, & picked it up about 15 minutes later. Food was fresh, delicious & hot. The wait staff at the counter was great too. Prices were good for the area & food quality.

I had the Wor Wonton Soup (awesome) and my husband had a dish that I forget the name of but it was delicious also. The owner was serving us and she was very friendly and other staff helped us also. If we visit Sedona again we'll eat here!

Everyone was polite but the food was not very good! Everything was tasteless. There were no other parties at the restuarant on a Saturday at 1pm. If that doesn't make a statement then I don't know what does. We should had taken the hint. I definitely will not be back.

Great lunch combos. Stopped by while my wife was getting a massage. Enjoyed the food, ambience and service.

  • Paula R.

I do not understand the 4 stars. We had simple potstickers...not hand made and something u could get from Costco....and chow fun soup...which was not good. The waiter(?) flopped a noodle over his thumb and then into my bowl. I bit into a sour mushroom and searched for the meat/shrimp in the bowl. Avoid this restaurant.

    (2)
  • Kevin L.

Ended up costing around $40 for a meal for three, not incluing tip. It's a good place to eat given your options and tries to convey an authentic Chinese experience with traditional artifacts and decorations. And yes, they give you red chopsticks.

  • Ken D.

Run. Don't walk, run... as fast and far away from this place as possible. Just an awful excuse for Chinese cuisine. My dates Bloody Mary had a white funk on the ice. I'd even consider this place a health risk. And of course the owner tried to play it off as nothing. Scary...

Good chinese food in Sedona. A little on the greasy side, but I find most Chinese food is. I wish I knew the name of the fish dish my friend got (I think it was Szechuan fish something something), because it was the BEST. The Mapo Tofu was very good, but is a little salty so it absolutely has to be mixed with rice to balance it out. I had KungPao shrimp which was decent. It reminds me a bit of PF Changs. Overall very satisfying.

  • Luciana L.

The food was surprisingly good!! I say surprisingly b'c I am always weary of trying Chinese food in an area where there is not a large Asian population. The egg roll I loved ... they had this sour cabbage in it that I've never had anywhere else and loved it. Definitely give this place a go if you are here and have a hankering for Chinese food!

  • Steve H.

Best Chinese restaurant in Sedona. I'm not even sure if there is other authentic Chinese restaurant in Sedona actually. You should try Wonton Soup there. It is one of the best. Tofu dish was very mild without being salty or too strong. Owner is very kind and will give you personal attention. If you are near Bell Rock area and a fan of Chinese food, this is one of your best bet as well as the Thai restaurant near by. Price is reasonable too.

  • Ling W.

It took 40 minutes to get our drink and the supervisor looking staff had to step in to bring the starter chips. Our server was slow and mixed up the tables too. She did not refill our water and did not even apologize for the delay. There was one other table who came in the same time with us but left 30 minutes early. The food is very good.

  • Angela L.

Second experience: Ordered a dinner entrée: Szechwan Tofu, with brown rice (seemed to be $1 extra). It comes with minced vegetables, which is another way of saying small, unidentifiable pieces. Mainly the dish was pan fried tofu in a sweet, spicy tomato-based sauce. It was ok, but not memorable, and still a smaller portion than I'd expect. With better service, it's enough to raise the rating to a 2.5, but the food still wasn't enough to rate a round up to 3.

This was one of the few places open late. Late as in until 10pm. So many places close at 9 on a Friday night. Anyway this is a cute restaurant. The food was alright. If only the dishes had more vegetables I would have liked it more. I would go back to try dim sum though.
