This is my go to place for coffee in the morning and sometimes a baked good. I have also had lunch here many times and it has always been good. This is not a 5 star bakery as some is made fresh and some is brought in I'm sure but for what it is it is good. Be nice to the staff and they will always take good care of you. If you act like an idiot, are rude or hold up the line because you can't read or you think the world revolves around you then they might not be so polite. The line can backup here sometimes but the staff knows how to keep things moving so your wait is never to long at the counter. The parking can get full fast so make sure you use the lot next door if needed. The owner lurks around and always looks unhappy but I don't give a shit as long as that grumpy bastard is keeping my cinnamon rolls and carrot cake fresh and tasty..

Well what can I say but, call this place my favorite favorite place in Sedona, AZ. We came here the other day after hiking Oak Creek & Cathedral Rock with our very good friend, Bo. I ordered the Onolicious Blue Cheese Burger and my friend order the Mediterranean Salad. Ohhhh gosh talk about the best, tastiest, Onnnnooolliiccciioouussss, juicy blue cheese burger ever! It was so big and scrumptiously delicious I had to take a small portion of it home. My friend and I shared the amazing mediterranean salad, it was by far the best meal we had in Sedona. Desert The chef moana she's simply beautiful inside and out. Made our food to perfection and the plus side, one local girl. ..auuurrriiggghhhttt! Lol Everyone there is so family oriented, very comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere. ... somewhere you can take a time out of your busy day and enjoy great company! If I'm ever back in Sedona, AZ this is the very spot I will be returning tooo... A hui hou e Dessert Bakery, malama pono!

We stopped here on our way back to Phoenix and grabbed some coffee, hot cocoa and some cookies. The coffee was awesome and the cookies were so good. The staff was so friendly and had a nice chat before we were on our way again. Felt very welcoming and wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood in Phoenix.

A great place to stop by for desert and coffee. We had lunch there after a hike and the food was great. The chef was a lady, Moana? The salad with their house dressing was delicious. On our 2nd visit for dinner, we didn't have the same experience. The cook was an older gentleman and although the quality was there, there was not as much attention to detail. The food was greasy and overcooked. We will go again for lunch but I'm not sure this is a place for dinner unless you are having pizza.

We stopped in here twice since we got to Sedona. I got a standard breakfast of eggs, bacon, and hash browns on day 1. Day 2 I got the quiche. Both were delicious and I loved the toast they served with both my meals!

I don't cry over spilt milk, but I do cry over intentionally smushed cake. I cry, "FOUL!" I don't understand how a bakery can spend hours making a delicious and beautiful carrot cake, house it in a lovely lighted display case in mouth-watering perfect condition, only to remove a slice, place it in an ill-fitting box and bring the lid down - smashing the top such that the "perfect dollop" that adorns the top of the cake is now slathering out a frosty greasy mess on the inside top of the box. That carrot cake had lured me in with not only the idea of a yummy treat for my sweetie, but with also the presentation - it was intact and unspoiled. It did not deserve this sullied fate. Nor was it a feel-good to bring that $4.50 slice of cake to the intended recipient and have him make a remark similar in sentiment, "Wow, it's really stuck to the top of the box. What a mess." Had that mushed-up piece of cake been sitting in the display case, I NEVER would have say, "Oooooh, I like that one. It looks like it's been maybe flipped on its head, dropped on on the floor." No. No. No. It's a huge No-No to sell a customer an item in fine condition and then to smash it into a box. Ok, if this is a soapbox, I will step down, but on to the next: This is a small but cozy and "ok" little shop. Not so welcoming was the group of five or six boys shouting and yelling while standing at one of the taller tables. Frankly, I jumped because they were so loud and the place is small. I looked over and they were just carrying on - an older gentlemen seated at the bar counter had his finger stuck in one ear, with a cell phone to the other. That's how loud these kids were. My first thought is that the boys were related or something to someone who worked there, but it escapes me, "why wouldn't you tell them to quiet down!?" whether they are related or just kids being so completely rude!? I don't know what that story was, but then two of the boys (or do you call an eleven-year-old, maybe 12 "young man"? I guess you don't think of calling them that if they are yelling in a bakery.) Anyway, came right over and stood about a foot from me, looking as if they were going to order. I looked at them and said, "Do you want to order to something." And then they walked away. Now that I think about it, I should have asked the lady behind the counter, "What is the deal!?" Anyway, on a brighter note, the lady behind the counter was friendly and nice. The sad part of this review is that all that other stuff takes away from the fact: the carrot cake and the chocolate pyramid were excellent. It's interesting how the experience, though, more so defined my impression of this little shop.

Another one of our "usual stops"...this place is one of my hubbys favorites because he LOVES the muffins!! We've done the scramble breakfast, breakfast sandwiches and other pastries. Coffee isn't legendary but it's good and they make "kid temp" hot cocoa. ;) Always busy and seemingly understaffed but the food is always good and it has a funky little vibe.

Great lunch stop for those going south on 179 out of Sedona. Turn after the chevron gas station. The staff were nice enough to help my sun-soaked brain decide on the menu. 1/2 Sandwich and small salad with super vinaigrette for $5. Outdoor seating and lovely view of the rocks available here as well.

I've lived in Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek for the last 10 years, and despite giving this place chance after chance, my latest visit left me with no choice but to air my grievances here. There is only so much a loyal, local customer like myself can take. To begin with, this "bakery" does not serve fresh baked goods, as 80% of there pastry products are simply purchased from Costco every week. I know this because I have allergy issues, and after asking the "baker" there repeatedly about the specific type of flour she uses, I was told to call Costco directly and inquire because "most of our stuff comes from there anyway." Second, even the non-baked goods here, like the breakfast burrito for example, are cheap imitations of real restaurant dishes. I've personally watched my "server" take a breakfast burrito order, head back to the kitchen to grab a package of imitation EggBeaters, before sticking the "burrito" in the microwave. She nuked my food for 2-3 minutes, and I even heard the ding when it was done. What's worse, I only found out about this after regularly visits, but a tourist just passing through town would have no idea that their $8 breakfast burrito is the exact same ingredients and quality as a McDonald's version. Finally, the customer service and the owner's treatment of his employees here combined to finally turn me off for good. Simply put, ordering your morning coffee and pastry from someone who never smiles or makes eye contact is not a fun experience. Customers almost feel like a burden to the counter help here, and you can tell right when you walk in that they'd rather have an empty room and no lines. Although, perhaps I can understand why these young women appear so unhappy while working at Desert Flour Bakery, especially after a recent episode I witnessed. The bakery's owner, Gary, let loose at one of the girls just for asking a simple question. He raised his voice within earshot of customers like myself, yelling at this young woman to call her an"idiot" and berating her because she had the nerve to inquire about a scheduled vendor visit. Between the sudden bursts of anger and frustration this man displays toward his employees with customers present, to the overly handsy way he seems to take liberties with the young ladies who work there, I'm disappointed that any of my hard earned money has been spent in his establishment.

Three years later, our second visit has been just as awful as the first. Acceptable food absolutely ruined by the attitude of the staff. Same nasty attitude as our last visit. We noticed it immediately upon walking in. And no we weren't really looking for it. We stayed across the street again, so decided that maybe 3 years would have made a difference. Nope. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Ordered the Breakfast Sandwich. It was good. Looked like the same women working in the kitchen from 2011. Never again. I do not pay good money that I earned just to be treated miserably by miserable people. Jeez. You live in Oak Creek. What the heck are you so unhappy about? How does this place stay in business? BTW, the desserts and pastries in the patisserie are not baked in-house. They are Costco products. This could have been such a wonderful experience. Sad.

The food is excellent! Local favorite! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the atmosphere could be a little better, but I'll definitely be back!

Slow service. The tiniest, most bland breakfast burrito I've ever tasted. Seriously, $1 frozen burritos are far preferable. Paying $6 to get a microwaved tortilla with some cheap ham, one scrambled egg and a bit of greasy cheese? Ugh. So much oil dripping out when lifting it up to take a first bite, stomach turning. Avoid. Gas stations have far more gourmet food at better prices.

Whenever I'm in Sedona, I make it a point to visit Desert Flour Bakery. I found this be an excellent bakery in terms of fine baked goods offerings you can choose from. Additionally, they have breakfast/lunch/coffee/drinks on the menu. What I really like in addition to the variety of yummy baked goodies is the cozy and intimate atmosphere of the bakery- which makes for a fun experience.

When ever I am in a different town I make it a point to check out a bakery if possible. I didn't think I was going to find a hidden gem in Sedona but Desert Flour Bakery was just that gem that was hidden in the rocks! For a cute name the place is just as homey and cute. Serving a different daily menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It felt very comforting and local. I of course only had a pastry but it spoke millions of their food. I couldn't resist the chocolate cake. It was a gigantic piece and I enjoyed every bite that I shared with my friend. After burning all those calories hiking we deserved a little reward and with a tall glass of milk this cake was lip smacking good! I ordered the bear-claw to go and when I heated it up with a cup of coffee it was delicious. All the flaky layers and the almond filling were just the perfect touch of sweetness. I definitely recommend this bakery for a sweet treat after a good hike up Bell Rock!

Only stopped here for a cup of Cofee and pastries. Excellent customer service. Very Friendly staff. They have an outdoor sitting area which is great bc I don't want to miss a minute of this marvelous scenery.

I won't be back since they seem bias for how they treat people based on skin color! I walked in and was not greeted. Many ohers walked in after me and they were very warmly greeted. As a person of color I took offense to this. As I sat and waited for my take-out order, I observed. As others were rung up at the cashier, they were thanked for coming in. When I was rung up.... nothing. She just gave me my change and walked away. I got a sandwhich which was ok, cheesecake which was good and a cupcake which may have been several days old as the cake was very dense and hard.

Unreasonably slow service. 45 min to get food at a bakery when only 3 tables are being used is symptomatic of a management issue

Visiting Sedona and the name Desert Flour Bakery was intriguing. Great variety on menu, and the bakery items look delicious. We ordered the turkey sandwich on cranberry bread. While the bread was outstanding, the turkey left a lot to be desired. It was too processed and rubbery. Didnt even taste like turkey and really ruined what could have been a great sandwich. One of us ordered a chicken sandwich and real chicken was used, not something heavily processed. She said it was delicious. Would not recommend the turkey at all.

SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE! This is the WORST service I have ever received. If you like annoyed cashiers rolling their eyes at you, then go here. If you like sarcastic cashiers, then go here. FYI - if your 2 cashiers want to talk crap about their customers, they need to do it more discreetly. I asked for change for a $5 bill so I could leave a tip in the jar. After she rolled her eyes at me, I kept my money and didn't leave anything. I'm not sure how the owners feel good about leaving immature employees to be the face of their business. This place sucks.

We've been here twice for a quick lunch. Both times were great. Our sandwiches were good and the wait time was minimal. I would recommend this if you are looking for something quick. We ordered the turkey sandwich and the tuna melt. The turkey sandwich came on cranberry bread- delicious and fun.

My in laws are locals and picked us up some pastries for breakfast a few days while we were visiting. We liked them so much we actually went in on our own and got some one morning! Pastries are huge, flaky, and delicious! My personal favorite was the wedgie :) My husband loved the bear claw (a REAL bear claw, not a doughnut slathered in chocolate sauce). It's kind of weird that they serve Starbucks coffee here, but whatever..it tasted good.

We had a carrot cake and a cheesecake. Both were way too sweet ....

Stopped here to pick up some coffee and breakfast before heading out to the wilderness. The pastries were so good. I had a Apple Galette and it was most delightful. It had just the right amount of sweetness. The puff pastry was light and fluffy. I also tried the croissant and other pastries that my friends ordered and they were every bit just as addictive. Coffee was just the standard Starbucks fare. Nothing to rave home about. It seemed like a really popular bakery. There were a pretty long line there during breakfast hour. Fortunately the line moved fairly quickly. There are ample of seats and tables available but seem like everyone just wanted to grab something to go. If you happen to be in the area check this place out!

This is a good little spot to stop for a quick sandwich before or after a hike. There are a few vegetarian sandwich options, both of which were really good, and a nice little outdoor patio with a very nice red rocks view. The service was rather surly and for $10 a sandwich, I do expect it to be good. Their bread is amazing, and for the hot sandwiches it gets toasted and buttered so it's hard to go wrong there. My grilled portobello sandwich had a good amount of cheese and a lot of flavor, I would definitely get it again. It's a little pricey, but it seems the whole area is, so at least you get good food for your buck.

Great little find. Nothing extravagant, but the coffee, pastries and breakfast were very good. The prices ...remember your in Sedona, were very reasonable. We have always stayed in the vicinity for our get aways from Phoenix. So, we are always looking for a great place for breakfast and dinner. They do serve Starbucks coffee, the pastries we tried was the cherry, cream cheese danish...fabulous and had the walnut, cranberry french toast with fruit on the side which was delicious. My son had the pancakes and he said.....they were "ok." DFB is dog friendly they have sitting outside and dog H2o bowls. Try it out.....

I always have high hopes for this place and always stop in at least once when in the Oak Creek area. Sadly, I always leave disappointed. They display cases are usually less than half full, and what's there doesnt look appealing. The coffee/espresso seems like an after thought and tastes poorly.

Great place for a quick treat. Pasteries were very tasty and over the top. Had a huge piece of chocolate mousse cake/pie and a large vanilla steamer for 6 bucks. More than enough for two people. Great little place. Looks like they serve pizza the bake in their wood oven, but have not tried that yet. Maybe tomorrow.

One of my fav places to have bfast or a bakery-bite when in Sedona. It is in the VOC area of town and usually full of locals with a splattering of tourists. Great coffee, excellent desserts. Awesome Pizza. The price-point is really good (especially for a generally over-priced / over-hyped place such as Sedona). You can see the red-rocks from the patio. Service can be a bit "touch and go" depending upon when you go, who is serving/cleaning the tables, and how busy the place is. If you are doing self-catering / condo place this is a good spot to pick up cake/pastry's to go also.

A friendly atmosphere and delicious food! I ordered the roasted turkey on cranberry walnut bread for lunch. The price seemed a little high until the food arrived - the portions were very generous, and the house salad was very good, too. I will be visiting here again!

After we put in our order inside, we went to a table outside and waited for about 30 minutes for our 2 simple sandwiches. On the way back from serving the food to the people in line behind us, the waitress asked what we ordered again... about 5 or 10 minutes later, she came out with 2 sandwiches that looked like the were slapped together in a few seconds. My husband's sandwich tasted ok, he said. I had a veggie sandwich. Yes, it said "cold sandwich" - but I have never been served 2 slices of brown bread with a bunch or raw veggies in between (raw carrots, raw ZUCCHINI slices,...) I expected the veggies to have been sauteed and just stored cold (which usually is delicious and flavorful). This was dry and bland. Save yourself the time and frustration.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast with my sister and her husband. We split a cinnamon roll (huge, fresh and delicious) and I had a breakfast sandwich, also delicious. The coffee was wonderful too. My sister had a side of bacon, crisp, which she seemed to enjoy. My only complaint was being overcharged for several items I ordered. The cashier rattled off the prices quickly when I asked - and they didn't match the prices on the overhead menu. Irritating.

I was not aware until after sitting at a table for quite some time that the orders had to be placed at a counter - and then they would be delivered to your table. The coffee was delicious - and my breakfast burrito had the nicest smoky bacon. ( The egg was weird) The bread here was outstanding. and that alone will bring me back. Im actually going to order it to use in the catering of my Sedona wedding next month. for bread alone ***** for service and weird egg ***

Got married in Sedona at the begining of Nov. It was kind of a last minute wedding, so I randomly picked this bakery because I found it when I Googled "Sedona Wedding Cake." The guy my wife and I were dealing with seemed pretty laid back and nice, and was willing to work with us. We called him two weeks before, as he requested us to do, and the cake was a go. We had sent him a pic of what we wanted. A two tiered mexican chocolate cake with aspen leaves. Easy enough. A week before the wedding, we check in again. Yep, everything is cool. My mom goes to pick up the cake on the day of, and the cake wasn't ready. He hadn't even started it yet. We told him when we needed it, but it wasn't ready at the agreed upon time. He threw the thing together at the last minute and it certainly looked like it. Pretty disappointed. It was lop-sided and the aspen leaves were paper and falling off. It was pretty laughable and the guests at the ceremony were shocked that we weren't more mad than we already were. I guess the plus side is, that it tasted good. However, none of our guests ate it because it just looked so sad. I'm not one to rage about stuff like this, but I thought I should at least write a Yelp review to inform future brides. On a positive note, my friends and family got pretty tipsy that night of the wedding, and we totally ate a large portion of this cake in our drunken-ness. It wasn't pretty, but it did taste pretty darn good.

Had the breakfast croissant and it was very good. The bacon was crumbled on top which made it easy to eat and still get the flavor. The baked goods looked delicious and there were a number of people (I assume regulars) that were buying multiple items and loaves. They serve Starbucks (you may or may not be a fan) and we had the chai tea. At Starbucks I always have to order extra hot and sometimes still get it warm. But at Desert Flour she made it hot without asking. Staff was friendly enough considering how busy they were.

  • Kristin G.

This place has nice strong coffee - pricey, but it's Starbucks brand, so when I need a kick in the am, I get it. I don't know where the other poster got the info that they got their pastries from Costco. I have had scones from here that are WARM they pulled from the case - they have monster ovens in the back... I think a fair amount is actually made on site. I can't vouch for all of their fancy pastries, though. It's possible the pies/cakes/etc are bought somewhere else, but considering Costco is an hour away, that would be quite a haul... Anyway. I give it 4 stars and not 5 because the service is often a little frenetic. They are always VERY NICE. But sometimes they just seem pretty stressed for unknown reasons... I watched a server try to ink a stamp pad in front of me for quite some time instead of taking my order, and it was a tad bizarre. I've eaten dinner there, too, as well as lunch and I have never had any food that is less than excellent.

Desert Flour is a cute little bakery/ coffee shop for a quick bite/ caffeine jolt after a day of hiking and exploring the surrounding area. The prices were reasonable and the baked good were a pretty good size. My friend ordered a cinnamon roll and crumb cake for her kids to enjoy and they looked amazing. I stuck with an iced decaf and really enjoyed it. The staff was super friendly. The next time I'm back in Sedona I want to try one of their sandwiches. The next time I'm back in Sedona, I plan to stop in for lunch. The whole menu sounds amazing.

  • Rachel B.

The service here is so bad. We came here with the boys and this is not a kid friendly place at all. The best part was when the staff told us they didn't bake their items here they buy them from Costco. I love "bakeries" that buy their items from Costco. Would not recommend!

  • Jeff K.

If you come here for good service; don't. If you appreciate good bread and pastries, and even a good breakfast, this is the place! Really excellent bread! And Lox, bagel and cream cheese too. Great Quiche. I hear their sandwiches for lunch are excellent. NOTE: it's only in Oak Creek now, 5 miles south of Sedona, not in Sedona. Other location is now closed.

  • Michele L.

This place isn't horrible but not awesome either. Not a fan of Starbucks coffee which is what they serve. Their black bean burger is to die for! The girls there are always nice and service is good. I can see how others would be confused about ordering at the counter but there is no hosts and it is a typical cafe counter set up so, I just automatically ordered at the counter.

This was one of my favorite stops while in Sedona on a mini-vacation. Both breakfast and lunch are excellent- as they serve fresh-baked items and other wonderful goodies expertly prepared. They have a fairly expansive menu and a large variety of hot and cold beverage offerings to complement your meal. Highly recommended.

  • Marsha W.

Over priced for what you get and the service is slow. I watched a server pull apart a set of four tables and she did not wipe any of them. The next man to sit down at one of the reset tables wiped his table himself. The next ladies to sit down at another table said oh it's only crumbs. I was put off by this place. The staff seemed very fragmented. The reuben was good but you can keep the rest. It is awkward and pricey for a lunch, 53 bucks for a party of four to eat sandwiches.. I won't go back to this one. It is a typical tourist trap like so many places to eat in Sedona.

Not sure why my first review didn't get published, but my husband and I were not impressed when we stopped by there in March on a weekend. You'd think that during peak season, they would staff for a crowd. It took 45 minutes to get a salad to go, with only 3 people in front of me. There was a lot of confusion about whether or not to sit first or pay first, and people didn't realize they had to get in line for a long wait before they could sit down. They didn't take names for orders, and while I waited there was even more confusion as to who got what food. One family lost patience and came back to the cashier and claimed some outbound food. A few minutes later the correct family asked where their missing food was. We will not be returning.

This place was great. Long line but they kept it moving. Was in town for the Jazz Festival in October and stopped in for breakfast before heading back to Vegas. Ordered the bagel with lox, an item I never order but it sounded interesting. It was really yummy and I was full for several hours. Nice clean place, friendly staff.

I live in the Village so I've been to Desert Flour many times. I think they have the best baked goods in the Village and I've also enjoyed whatever I've eaten for lunch and dinner. Sometimes we order cakes there for office parties because they are universally liked. Cheesecake (they have a variety) and carrot cake are big favorites. They have pretty good coffee as well. The atmosphere is pretty laid back--it reminds me of coffee houses when I was in college. I've never encountered the kind of customer service other reviewers have mentioned, although the staff and decor is somewhat eclectic. Each coffee place in the Village of Oak Creek has its own vibe and I enjoy the variety. A couple of times I've spent most of a day there writing and reading (even ate two meals), and they let me stay there peacefully, although they gave me service when I needed it.

We came here for lunch after a hike. It was a hot day and we were thirsty and beat. Sadly, the A/C wasn't running. After ordering at the counter, we waited AND waited for someone to bring us our drinks. The place was half-empty, but the servers were chatting at the counter and couldn't be bothered. Finally, I walked up and asked for our iced teas. When our meals finally arrived, they were mediocre, and the bread was dry. Don't waste your time and money -- go to Wildflower instead. This place can't compare in food, service or setting.

We arrived late afternoon; not super crowded, service was fine. We had the ham and swiss cheese sandwhich grilled, the chicken pesto pizza, ice tea and hot chocolate for our teenage daughter. We were very pleased with our meals. The sandwhich and pizza were made with fresh ingredients and to order. All the deserts looked great; we went with the donuts. Too full to sample the other very tasty looking baked goods. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant and will come again.

As you read through the Desert Flour reviews, you notice a recurring theme in regards to the bad service and strange vibe given off from the staff. Believe it! It's true. Food can be good, but get it to go for sure. Every time I have dined in here I have had strange looks and wierd behavior from the staff, and never get good service

We were recently in Sedona for 2 nights, 2.5 days - and we ate here twice! Their turkey sandwich on the cranberry walnut bread was to die for! My husband really enjoyed the ham/cheese sandwich also. Unfortunately - that is all we tried - it was so good the first time, we ordered the same things the 2d time. The peanut butter cookie was so-so, but the oatmeal raisin cookie was very good! Because they use no perservatives in the bread, we were not able to bring any home with us - sure wish I had the recipe for it tho!

Not sure where to start on how awesome this place really is. So, let's start with what's most important... FOOD!!! I've tried most everything on the menu and you simply can't go wrong. The bacon cheeseburger is soooo good. It's a big burger and comes with a nice little salad on the side. All of the sandwiches, salads and pizzas are really good. They have a wide variety of bakery goods as well. It's a sin to leave without a fresh loaf of their country French bread. And all the little bakery goods are definately a real treat. What I really like is how the people that work here make me feel when I'm there. I feel like a regular ol' local when I go in to get a coffee or some grub. They always remember me by name and somehow I always feel like I got some sort of special treatment. The place gets a little busy and hectic sometimes but it's well worth the wait for a great experience.

Throwing some pastel green paint on the walls, some oversized framed posters on the wall and some "tin" drop ceiling tiles in does not an upscale coffee shop make. Ok, I realize its a bakery - but the sign in back says espresso bar. That means the espresso machine should not be broken, and if it is - why are there still beans in the pre-grind hopper getting stale? Also, they serve Starbucks here. Really? In an artsy town like Sedona/Oak Creek they can't find someone to roast beans to spec without turning to a mega chain? That turned me off a bit. As did the 3 separate "tin ceiling/backsplash" tiles. Not that I have anything against that look - but again, in a community of artisans - if you are gonna put in stuff like this, have an artisan do it correctly. Ceiling tiles should lie flat, not be askew. Mounting to walls should be spot on, otherwise known as dead-balls accurate... and why two designs are needed to occupy 20 sq ft of wall space is beyond me. So - the food we ordered was a breakfast burrito and a croissant. For a bakery the croissant was buttery and tasty but looked as squished down as if it had been tossed out a drive-thru fast food window. Nothing garnished the plate. The burrito was folded more like an envelope than properly rolled. It was garnished with a fruity salsa that wasn't too bad. Again - neither was artistic. The creaming/garnishing/serving station was just a modified fast food trash bin of formica-like material. Not really a great integration with the green walls nor the tin ceiling. Not sure what the thought was there. Anyway - the baked goods looked great, if a bit pricey. Bottom line is - if you are going to do artisan stuff in an artisan community, don't just try to cover all the bases and do 3 of them half-assed. Maybe cover 2 and cover them really well. I give it 1.5 stars tops.

Every time I'm ever in Sedona, this place is closed. This last time around, however, while gassing up at the Chevron across the street we noticed the rare sight of their open sign turned outward. Members of our group started walking over but stopped short when the sign was quickly turned around to read closed. A young woman poked her head out and waved for them to come in anyway. When I finally walked over I noticed, by their posted hours, that they close at 3 p.m. on that day. I checked my phone's time and noted that it was 1:45. Did they just figure they had had enough business for the day? We get in and there's still several people finishing their sandwiches while the previously mentioned party members were pointing out different cookies and pastries they wanted to get with their tab coming out to $15. Having not been there to see their entire order I figured they just bought a lot. My order was a couple pieces of rugala, a blueberry scone, and a cherry danish. The total: $8.60. ... I really should have just tried to order a sandwich. Well, the chocolate raspberry rugala was dry and bland, the boysenberry rugala was much better, and the scone and danish (which my boyfriend ate) were in his words forgettable, "but the danish was all right." The rest of the party remarked on the danishes being messy or greasy but really good. The old saying that if one has to ask what the price is, one probably can't afford it seems to apply to baked goods in Sedona. Sure $10 isn't THAT bad, but when I feel like I'm also being rushed out the door when the place is supposed to be open for another hour, it hardly seems worth it.

Traveling through Sedona and Oak Creek, husband is hungry, so we stop at this little bakery. We're from South Carolina and it is raining, so we don't know what to expect. They were very busy as it was lunchtime. We had to wait for a bit for our food, but when it was ready, it was delivered to our table. The waitress was very friendly and kept filling my coffee cup. It was VERY GOOD COFFEE. The weather was a bit chilly outside, so the HOT coffee really hit the mark. Our sandwiches were good, but the bread on my husband's grilled chicken was not "done" enough. I noticed several couples in there just talking and enjoying themselves. They weren't rushed out. Another couple was using the free Wi-Fi, both had their laptops out while enjoying something to eat. I would recommend this little place and would have given it 4 stars had the bread on the sandwich been cooked through.

My fiance and I stopped in here for breakfast before heading to a Bridal Fair in Sedona. The eggs were cooked very well, the breakfast burrito was awesome, and their house made bread for the toast was some of the best bread I have ever had. The chicken fried steak was not the best I have had, but that is to be expected since this is a bakery and that is not their focus. The next time I go here I will look at getting the pancakes (which looked amazing) or the French toast. Service was good, but different from many places. Here you order at the counter, and then they bring the food to your table. While different, still very efficient. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

Picked up tasty breakfast sandwiches here to take on a hike. I was expecting more baked goods but maybe we were just too late.

I love this place. I wasn't so sure about it at first, but it really grew on me, thanks to the bread pudding and their olive oil Italian bread. - It's got a decent-sized dining area, but the entire place as a whole is kind of small. The bathrooms are at the entrance of the kitchen, and the shelf of pantry goods stares at you when you leave the bathroom. - As for the way I marked the price range: if you're picking up some bread or pastries, then it's not bad at all. If you're sitting here for a meal, then with drinks and other stuff, it'll add up. Or, if you're like my family, better stock up, because it'll be a looooong time before anyone gets the chance to come to Sedona again. - The food's okay, but it's all about the breads here. The menu differs from the site, but it's got many of the items in the place itself. One day we went for lunch, and ordered this Asian chicken salad. It wasn't that great, but the greens were so fresh, I didn't mind the sub-par salad dressing. - The sandwiches are a little on the dry side (and I think they cost as much as two loaves of their bread), but they're still good and they keep well for traveling. The bread won't get soggy right away. - So on to the breads. I'm not a big fan of crusty breads. I hate how some crusts are thicker and more brittle than crackers, and then there are cornmeal spills or puffs of flour that get all over the place. And I hate how some breads dry out fast. Their breads are the complete opposite: they're dense, soft, chewy, and skdfsldf I love them. They're AMAZING. And that rosemary and walnut bread? Just one buttered slice of that will keep me happy for a long time. (Note to self: grilled cheese sandwich. :D?!) - They sell other pastries and desserts here. I'm quite partial to that bread pudding made from day-old pastries. It's got their chocolate ones in there (or pain au chocolat, if ya wanna get fancy). Think about it - spoonfuls of bread pudding goodness with patches of chocolate? OKAY! - Everyone who works here is nice. Makes you want to add more to their tip jar, but then you kind of feel selfish and want to spend it on more bread. Yaaaay.

We have eaten here several times for lunch, breakfast and dessert. We have never been disappointed. We were up in Sedona again this weekend and HAD to stop in. We had lunch this time before we set out to hike. I got the Hot Chicken sandwich with Mozzarella on olive walnut bread. It was fantanstic! The side salad with the asian dressing is yummy. I actually piled mine on my sandwich. My husband got his usual, the Southwestern Burger. The burgers take 20 minutes and not because the chef is slow but because these are not just any burger. They are master pieces. The patties are hand formed and THICK. They cook them to perfection but it takes a while to cook a burger that thick. They are juicy and absolutely worth the wait. This was his 3rd time ordering this burger and he has never been disappointed. We will be back every time we come to Sedona! I've yet to try the bread pudding but it looks amazing. Next time, I'll save room. Maybe.

I'm new to the area, but this is probably my favorite "lunch stop" so far. The turkey sandwich on some wonderful cranberry nut bread is heavenly. Nice small side salad. I haven't tried the baked goods yet, but they sure are great looking! I'm also a fan of their herbal tea for iced tea. Very yummy. Outside tables available too. Cute place, good food. Now I will put out this warning....they close at 2 p.m. on a Sunday and if you walk in at 2....you won't be welcomed. On the contrary, I stopped by one Sunday afternoon to buy baked goods. The lady behind the counter "barked" that the kitchen was closed. I said I just wanted to buy baked goods. (You'd think they'd be happy to unload them over the weekend!) She scowled and said...."You'll have to wait a while". I replied "Never mind if it's that much trouble...I'll go elsewhere." Not great customer service that time. Kind of reminded me of the Seinfeld "soup nazi" episode. So, I left before I was punished!! I would give more stars except for the soup nazi thing......

burger was alright, ordered medium rare but it was well done. worse things have happened. they also forgot to put the jalapenos on it. they did take a while to serve us and they weren't overly polite, probably because they don't care much for tourists. not a huge deal but it's a bit annoying when they're obviously sweeter to all the regulars who are strolling in. also the 'bill' was a slip of paper with an amount of money written on it...

Known for its great breakfast goods it's very busy in morning and worth the wait. I like to come here for the real wood fired pizza, a very old oven by the way. Its within walking distance from home and I find it cozy and welcoming. Decent short wine list and free WiFi too... eat or pass = eat

Horrible service. The only employee behind the counter had the laid back granola thing going, and was chatting it up with someone at the counter over an op-ed in the paper while there was a short line of people waiting to buy breakfast. I could swear the $4.75 pancakes were just microwaved Eggos because the 3 of them were the same size as the eggos, all perfectly shaped the same, and no evidence on the bottom of irregular patterns from being poured onto a hot griddle. So, although I can't claim with certainty that they serve microwave pancakes, they at least deserve an award for emulating them. Croissants were good, but the long wait to place the order made it hard to appreciate them.

Don't eat breakfast. We ordered French toast and an egg sandwich. The French toast was very dry and tough and the fruit on the side was not ripe. The egg sandwich had been microwaved and was leathery. Coffee was good and the pastries looked good.

I've had some pretty good lunches here, but they have a LONG way to go on service! Also, one of the reasons I go to this place is the views of the red rocks can be enjoyed - even from the inside. So.......PLEASE WASH YOUR FILTHY WINDOWS!! They are never clean, always smudged and dirty and not only is it unattractive in a restaurant, but it's un-appetizing!! There are window washing companies who will stop once a week and perform this service for you!! Give them a call!

Amazing bread, a bit of a long wait, my husband loved his cranberry walnut french toast and delish fruits. What I loved it was looking at the rocks while eating outside and I loved not feeling rushed. We will definately return. the pastrami was KILLER. no fat whatsoever. I was impressed

Been coming to the Desert Flour for years since my mother in law moved her. Great food and atmosphere. Yes, service can slow but that is a result of the great food. This is a small and quaint town, not your big city hustle and bustle, I only have 30 minute lunch bakery. Stop and smell the fresh bread and strong coffee and enjoy some of the world's greatest scenery.

This place does brew strong, Starbucks coffee- HUGE PLUS for early morning cyclists and those heading out early to make the long drive home but the bakery case needs some sprucing up to make it look more appetizing. Some of the baked goods looks like they are done in-house but some looks like they are from Costco (mass baking from a warehouse). I cannot comment on anything I have eaten here but this place deserves at least 3 stars for the nicely brewed cup of Joe!

Really good sandwiches with freshly baked bread. Strange staff working - I asked for a red rock donut that is featured on the banner down the road and I got a puzzled look back that they didn't have any. I would think a bakery would have donuts they advertise.

Their fresh baked goods are OUTSTANDING! There were two workers there when we visited. One was young, nice, & provided excellent service. The other was nice but very blunt and could brush up on her customer service skills a bit. Wouldn't stop us from going back again though.

My wife and I ate here on 3 occasions during our stay in Sedona! First time we had coffee, lox & bagel and croissant egg sandwich. Rather simple, but priced well and tasted pretty damn good. Staff was made up several cute hippie type girls but they were very nice and friendly. We ordered a vegetable sandwich and tuna melt on two other occasions and the sandwiches were great. Bread was a 7 or 9 or 15 grain. I don't really remember, all I know is there were a hell of a lot of grains and other shit in the bread. We took the sandwiches with us one time back to the hotel we were staying at because we really didn't feel like spending $40 for 2 sandwiches like you would at most overpriced hotels. My opinion, great place to grab a coffee and a sandwich to-go if you are heading out on a hike or planning to spend the day at slide rock or lounging at the overpriced hotel pool!

We were looking for a quick bite on the way back from Cottonwood, AZ when we stumbled upon this jewel. I had the white pizza with articokes(yummmm!). My wife had a sandwich called Pizziola(?) made with sweet sausage..also very tasty. We feasted on the Italian wedding cake too. Very casual but friendly servers and a place with many locals.

We actually ate here twice in one week because the food as so good. We thought the staff were very nice as they are real people. I think some people writing reviews here are used to Applebees or other national chain. This is a great local place with very good food and delicious desserts.

Well, it was a weird experience. My wife and I are tourists, but I don't think we give off that vibe. I mean this isn't France either and the odd exasperation when we walked into the bakery and ordered our hot chocolate and raspberry cheese cake was just really, really so Paris. The young girl behind the counter gave a sigh, maybe a moan, of pure grief. "How could they order another hot chocolate....I'm so not into this costumer service thing...It's so beneath me...you Americans make me puke...." is what it seemed like. Well, the hot chocolate was good and the cheese cake was not too bad. Just the service really was odd.

Definitely a great place to grab a lunch in Sedona! It is small, but cozy. The food was delicious. The bread was perfect and the deserts looked great... I only wish I had ordered one.
