I am happy to report that they changed their menu and no longer have "real crab" on their menu but of course there is no indication that it is imitation either. I know that is common practice for many sushi restaurants and should always be asked. Despite the crab v krab issue I have had many different rolls there and although I like some more than others I have enjoyed all of them and find the food to be fresh every time.

Good service. Good tempura, teriyaki chicken, bento box, & Calif roll. The teriyaki plate was delicious & a lot of food. The miso soup was good. The salad was tasty. We got a taste of the hibachi sauce- delicious but I still wanted the teriyaki.

Been here two times while visiting family that lives in the area. I mean, let's get real, not too many Japanese places to pick from in Kingman but this place is decent. The plates are HUGE so each family member will pick a plate and we'll get extra plates and just make a buffet out of it. ;) Can't go wrong with their noodles, orange chicken and beef n broccoli, very yummy. I'm not a sushi person myself but my niece and brother in law really seem to enjoy the sushi here. Place is pretty quiet and casual. Service on the other hand is slow and rude. They need to either hire people that know how to smile with manners or have a serious talk with all the employees here. They're not friendly and look like they have a gun to their head while attending customers. That alone ruins a good family dinner. Food is decent, place is overall clean and service is slow and rude. Kind of a hit or miss kind of place. I've enjoyed the food but def not the waiters. :p

I am beginning to think that Kingman sucks out the souls of anyone dumb enough to move here. this restaurant was decent for a while, but sadly they have gone way down in attention to quality. i ordered a avocado roll that was made with an old one that had brown in it and was bitter. the Mongolian chef's special was overcooked and waaay too many onions. I love onions and I found this beyond overwhelming. I couldn't taste anything else. and the red snapper roll tasted dangerous so I spit it out. after being a loyal customer since they opened, I am sad to say that I will get be returning.

I was surprised to find a good sushi place in Kingman, AZ. I'm traveling for work, so I sat at the bar by myself. Within moments of sitting down, one of the chefs offered me a two piece of tempura sushi covered in buffalo wing sauce. It was interesting, and I probably would have liked it more, but the tempura wasn't fully cooked. My first bite hit some mushy batter. I ordered their spicy dragon roll, which was good. The presentation didn't match the menu picture. The non-Japanese beer selection was severely limited, but each time I asked for a new Michelob Ultra, it came with a fresh cold glass, so no complaints! I grabbed some Kung Pao Chicken to go, and that was also good. All-in-all nothing jumped out as great, but I've certainly had much worse. These guys do a good job for being in the middle of nowhere. Oh, and I forgot my sunglasses when I left. I came back the next morning and was able to retrieve them from the hostess station. That was a pleasant surprise.

I came here with a couple of friends of mine for dinner on a Friday night. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that it was pretty busy which is a good sign usually, but it is the only sushi restaurant in Kingman so I didn't want to judge The place right then and there. With that being said my first judgment of the place came when I learned that it wasn't all you can eat... No big deal but I prefer eating at AYCE restaurants because it allows you to try more things on the menu. I had a Hawaiian roll, a 911 roll, a lobster roll, and an order of regular tuna nigiri because they were out of white tuna nigiri and did not have garlic tuna nigiri. My first impression when I saw the rolls was that they were huge. I'm used to smaller rolls in Las Vegas when I eat at the all you can eat restaurants. However these were significantly larger. Even the rice content was excessive on these roles. now, onto the food... The Hawaiian roll is actually pretty good however I felt that the fish on there tasted a little bit too fishy for me. The 911 roll was pretty spicy and I really did enjoy the dry rub spice they had drizzled on top of the roll. The lobster roll was actually kind of weird because I felt like it was just drizzled in crawfish and not actual lobster. My fiancée even ate some of it and she agreed that it was crawfish meat... she's from Louisiana so I'm sure she knows what Crawfish looks like. The regular tuna nigiri wasn't all that great because I felt that the tuna tasted a little bit too fishy as well. Overall I thought this place was just okay but I'm from Las Vegas and there are a couple sushi restaurants there that I frequent and swear by. This place isn't that bad for it being in Kingman and I guess I really don't have a choice if I'm craving sushi haha.

FOOD POISONING. FOOD POISONING. Do NOT eat here! Cons: None of the tastes were good. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, a meat platter, and a veggie platter. The meat & veggie was-- at best, a 4 out of 10. Worst than mall food, chewy, and seemed re-heated and overcooked. The sushi was GROSS. The over-sized sushi rolls show how little this place knows about sushi, portion sizes of sushi recipes, and how sushi should be able to be eaten in one bite. THESE rolls took a knife, fork, and multiple bites, and the ratios of these classic roles were way off (lots of raw fish, not enough of any of the other ingredients), and created awful flavors-- we could not stomach the bad taste. We ate about half of what we ordered (we shouldn't have been brave, we should've left way earlier) before we left and went elsewhere, but it was enough to give me food poisoning. THE FISH HERE IS BAD! Sorry for the caps, but I am trying to save whomever might come here. The fish was SO bad. I spent the rest of the next day throwing up (so much bad fish), with intense diarrhea, and continued to have the latter of these symptoms for the next week! It was AWFUL! I couldn't eat normal foods. And haven't been able to eat seafood since. Pros: The Miso soup was average. If you're in Kingman, and just craving sushi, do yourself a favor and drive 90 minutes to Vegas. IF YOU LIKE SUSHI, you will not like this place. Please don't. Save yourselves.

This place is a favorite of mine and my hubby - its a great place to eat in or order take out from. The sushi rolls are really delicious and reasonably priced. The non-sushi dishes are just as delicious and have generous portions. Dining in the restaurant is nice - the staff is pleasant and the food arrives at the table in decent time. All the times we have ordered take out from Sakuras, our food has always been ready at the time they tell us- which is usually 15-20 minutes from the time we call in our order. Love this place!

Was seated where I requested so that was nice. Then ordered soft shell crab roll. Which was not fresh. Waiter said he would get the manager. I explained the soft shell crab smelled and tasted quite nauseating. Manager insisted that he and chef tried it and that the crab was good quality. That I was the first customer to complain. I pointed out to him the previous yelp reviewer who was also told she was the first customer to complain about her food. He denied this and I asked him if he wanted to read the review. I explained that I have been to Japan and know sushi. He continued to argue his point that I was wrong and that his crab was not bad. I told him he could fool other people but not me. And that it was bad etiquette to diminish the customer's opinion. In all fairness he took the dish off the bill. I suggested to him approaching things differently then his usual way of singling out the customer. No one apologized or attempted to properly resolve the problem. Just blame the customer.

We pass through Kingman often and always have the dilemma of choosing between mediocre places to eat- so we weren't expecting much when we saw that a new restaurant was opening. But we had to try it anyway. And what a pleasant surprise to find that Sakura Sushi and Grill has really good, fresh food. The menu is huge (almost overwhelming) with choices between Japanese, Chinese and Thai. The decor is thoughtfully done. We are more used to California- style eating and this place is the closest you can come to that in Kingman. We had a Hibachi chicken dish and a vegetarian stir fry- both great, and the portions were generous. And NO MSG. We also saw lots of sushi coming past our table and it looked good. Service was fast and friendly. Dinner included soup and salad and was very reasonable. We plan on making this our main place to eat in town. And we would surely recommend it to those traveling on I-40, who are looking for real food. (head north when you get off the freeway at Stockton Hill Raod- its a couple minutes down on the left past Walgreen's and the traffic light at Airway).

I was a little skeptical at first.. I mean come on, sushi in Arizona? Huh? Well let me tell you, I ordered the baked mussels...and oh my GOD!!! They are soooo freaking good! Their Kung Pao Shrimp...to die for. I'm going to order their specialty rolls and will give an update. The place is clean, service is quick. The staff could be a little more friendly. Just sayin. The manager is cool. I guess I'm just spoiled and very used to my fav spot back in Venice Beach....I've known them for 20 plus years.

I'm not a fan of sushi, or seafood at all for that matter, but their mango chicken is delicious!! Very, very clean inside.

I just moved to Kingman about 3 months ago and have been to the restaurant twice and ordered carry out several times. I prefer carry out but the restaurant is pleasing. I was skeptical about a sushi restaurant in a small town in the desert as so many people have said in their reviews. I have been to Japan for sushi so I am fussy. I ordered my favorites and was not disappointed. However, the California rolls that I am used to are not what they serve. I asked the hostess about them and she said next time I order, ask for crab stick. It is a little extra but worth it for me. I like the sashimi platter, the miso soup, seawood salad and the tempura is alright. My favorite is masago (little, orange fish egg) sushi style. They use plenty of masago and I enjoy it. I have yet to have bad service or bad fish. I only order the raw fish plates and rolls so I can't comment on the other dishes on the menu.

We stayed at Kingman as we were making our way from the Grand Canyon to Kingman. Looked on Yelp for a good place to have dinner. I had my doubts that there would be a decent Japanese place in a small city in AZ, but I decided to take a chance based on the good reviews. Unfortunately, I can't understand why this place has four stars. The food was less than mediocre, and my mom, who usually doesn't waste ANY food (I mean, she eats leftovers that have been in the fridge for more than two weeks) didn't even want to finish our food. My teriyaki salmon wasn't fresh, and the California rolls had a strange flavor. My dad's teriyaki chicken looked they were little pieces of chicken scraps that couldn't be used in other dishes, my mom's noodles were too oily. Their shrimp tempura looked more like a fish stick. The only decent thing was my son's Udon, which would be very hard to mess up since it was just some noodles in soup. Sorry, but we would have been better off at a fast food chain.

I've been to this restaurant 3 times and every time I've gone there it was not too busy. On my first visit, I was not sure what to order as the menu is way to big. But the sushi was good and was thrilled they had something similar to what I used to order in California, which was a Heart Attack. I was a bit annoyed with our server, who I later found out was the manager, as she kept coming back to play with my baby. I didn't mind at first but when you're at our table every couple minutes for half our time there, that doesn't seem very professional when you're an employee "working". Overall the food was great and wanted to come back. My second visit was a late lunch so it was slow. I ordered another Heart Attack and something else. Sad to say, I was very disappointed as the roll was not good as the first time and was falling apart. On my third visit, I decided to try something other than sushi and orded Pad Thai while my boyfriend ordered a California and Crab Roll. Our server was nice and friendly and brought our food in a timely manner. I noticed a funky odor as soon as I brought the noodles up to cool. I took two bites of it and realized that it taste nothing close to what pad thai is supposed to taste. My boyfriend calls our server and tells her that I'd like to order something else because I didn't like my food. She looked unsure so she said she'd get her manager. When she came, we said the same thing to our server. She asked what was wrong and I told her that it doesn't taste like what a Pad Thai is supposed to taste. She then told me that no one has ever complained about it. Well no one complains because this town is predominately Caucasian, they're not going to know the difference on what authentic Thai food is. My boyfriend has worked in the restaurant industry and every restaurant is supposed to replace their dish if they're not satisfied with it and be remove it from the bill. After explaining that to her she said she "understands" but will still charge at half price plus the new order. To give her a better understanding, my boyfriend then asked if it worth losing a customer over $4 rather than replacing it with something else and not be charged for the first one and know we will come back because we were taken care of. We weren't rude or were trying to pull something shady, but clearly this manager is not well experienced. My boyfriend and I won't be coming back here anymore.

Great Japanese food. I am not a sushi fan other than a California Roll which is excellent here. The tempura and the hibachi dishes are terrific and they have great lunch specials available.

Passing through town on way to California. Had the Steak Hibachi and fried Rice. Meat did not taste like steak and rice was not fried good and was mush

If this placed served coca-cola it would get a FIVE. Sake was good, sushi was fresh, dishes were well presented, price was reasonable, staff is friendly, nothing negative at all. Good experience.

After living in NY for 2 years, eating sushi regularly, and then returning to good ol' Ktown, I was very excited to find out a new sushi place would be opening up soon. I've been several times since then and have had experiences on both sides of the spectrum. On the best day, the sushi was fresh and beautiful looking while the waitresses were attentive and personable. On the worst day, it took nearly 40 minutes for me to get the one roll I ordered, I had to ask someone else to find out waitress to speak to, and she had a bad attitude when I asked her for a water refill. So it seems to kind of be a hit or miss when it comes to the service. The sushi tends to be dependable. Some days it really does look/taste better than others. As for the atmosphere, it is great-- inviting and modern. The price varies by rolls, but overall is decent. I think some rolls are a little over priced, but the basic rolls are priced about right. I mean let's face it, there are no places close to Kingman that can offer this kind of cuisine, but overall, I wasn't disappointed and I don't think you will be either.

I absolutly love this place! I love the Hibachi Chicken and Shrimp, probably my favorite item on the menu. If you haven't been here yet you need to go soon!

  • Tim M.

Food is okay, very small sushi rolls for the price. I came in at 7:20pm it took 20 minutes to get a menu and my drink order. It took me getting up and asking for a refill on my soda to get that after the cup sat on the edge of my table for 15 minutes. It took another 50 minutes for my first sushi roll to get to my table. After my second roll (remember they are small roles) it only took them 5 minutes to bring me bill, and they came back 2 minutes later wanting to take the bill and cash me out.

I love this place. It took me a long time to try it because this is the desert after all.. Who would have good Sushi in the desert... Sakura! that is who!

Went there opening day, a few minor complaints about some mix-ups with the sushi we got and the waitress giving us the wrong price on some beer. Typical problems you'd expect from a new business opening and hiring on the fly. None of these problems were anything more than minor mistakes that they we apologetic about and receptive to hearing and correcting. Other than that the food was great and relatively inexpensive, everyone was friendly and i'll definitely be going back.

Good Food! Friendly staff and better than usual service for around here! That is very rare in this town for the area! Very clean and comfortable seating and atmosphere as well! Even the restrooms are spotless! Vegetarian friendly! ----No MSG friendly! ----Low sodium friendly!--- Gluten friendly Great place to sit and eat if your alone, with family, on a date, or taking the office out for lunch or dinner! No matter if your local or passing through! Plenty of seating with 2 large sushi bars , plenty of tables and booths! Don't let the outside strip mall décor fool you.. The inside is stunning! Decent sized menu with your typical Japanese dishes as well as, basic Chinese, and "Pacific rim style dishes. There is something for just about everyone on the menu! The portions are very decent and the prices aren't bad for their size. Service is fast with plenty of help. Most of the employees speak English but for a few of them Japanese is their first language. Ordering has never been a problem for me there! They will even take the time to explain items on the menu you may be new to. Drink refills are prompt, sushi chefs are very friendly and fun, and usually if you have a server that's busy the others will step in and help including the host/hostess. Lunch and dinner specials with set menu plus daily written ones as well that are fairly priced! Daily sushi specials as well.. be sure to ask about them as well as read the sign on the way in as well as the sign behind the sushi bar as it may differ! As far as lunch goes the Bento Box is outstanding and the best deal in my opinion! They often even offer yellowtail or salmon collar as a Bento lunch special. For a few more dollars I would choose the Bento over the Lunch Box special. It's a far better deal, more food and better choice unless your not that hungry! You can even add another cut roll or hand roll for $4.00 to it! You build your own choosing an entrée then choosing a cut roll such as California roll or spicy tuna etc. The Bento comes with both cup of soup and side salad as well . *Keep in mind these sushi rolls will not be as large as the À la carte menu. 2 Large sushi bars Not the best sushi but very good for anything else within 50 miles as well as many places in Vegas I been to. Decent enough to get your fix for sure! It's not going to fix that craving for your favorite sushi joint but it will hold you over for sure! Any of their tuna choices are your best choices here and darn good! The hand rolls are stuffed full of fish not rice with a little fish on top! The Nigiri and Sushimi is basic choices and most of the time fresh and cold as it should be. Cut rolls can be hit or miss depending on the chef. There are usually 2-3 of them and if your at a table ordering sushi you may get 3 different interpretations of the same item. Besides the basic cut rolls they have around 20 different choices... Most of them with some type of sauce over them and often over sauced so be careful when ordering you know what you are in for. Their sushi rice is usual perfect My recommendations: -Chicken Lettuce Wraps... even better than Pei Wei lettuce wrap! -Teriyaki Salmon is outstanding! If you don't like Teriyaki order the Hibachi style. -Spicy tuna hand roll is stuffed full! Add massago for $1.00 and it's even better! -Lobster roll -Golden Valley roll -Vegetable Tempura -Teriyaki chicken is great even with the extra onion as filler! -Chicken wraps are better than -Udon soup... Seafood is the best one here! Darn tasty and hits the spot! -Mongolian style beef is very tasty but can be inconsistent and over loaded with peppers -Baby Tako salad (octopus salad) fresh and cold extra tasty seasoned great! That offer both white and brown rice. The menu states brown is $1.00 extra but have yet to be charged for it! Lunch time is more relaxed and less busy... Friday nights can be a little bust with a short wait. Short distance from the Interstate 40 and 1 exit away from the 93 as well as 1 exit away from route 66. Close to most of the motels, gas stations, and grocery stores! Across the street from Wal-Mart. Parking directly in front is not the best during lunch time because they share it with a popular pizza franchise next-door as well as a vision center. They are busy most nights so it can fill up from them as well. There is a CVS next lot over that has plenty of parking. If your traveling and towing a boat or trailer you can park to the north as well as well as in the back. If you're in a large RV you can park across the street in the Wal-mart parking lot! Semi trucks can park behind the strip mall or across the street at Wal-Mart! Not walking distance from the truck stops! Kingman doesn't have much to offer besides fast food! The city council rather build another tire shop on its main drag than allow its citizens and tourist to have a decent place to dine!

we have eaten here many times, but within the last 2 months the food quality has been very poor, chicken fried rice has a weird smell to it and I and my niece got ill after eating there the last time. The price is the same but the quality of the food is poor. Use to be the best freshest food in kingman. We will no longer go there. The service has gotten poor too.

When I moved to Kingman, I thought I was going to have to give up good sushi. This place took me by total surprise. The atmosphere is cool but comfortable. My son loves the fish tank, that sometimes doubles as a turtle tank. The rolls are consistently good, we have been satisfied with every meal and have tried pretty much every roll on the menu. One complaint is that their specials are always really expensive, so we rarely order those. I am so happy that there is a decent sushi place in Kingman!

I have eaten here many times. I have to say since they opened. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Recently though in the pasty couple of months things are not right. After eating here over 30 times and calling this the only place in town I would eat, I have to change my mind. The Chicken Fried rice has a weird odor to it. I don't know if the oil is bad or the chicken. But being in the bathroom at home for hours on end was not what I expected after this last order of food. The tempura is very good though. Something with the service to is off. I know it is a Japanese restaurant. But when you have to constantly repeat yourself to the waiter because they did not understand you it is annoying. I asked for Sprite and kept getting asked if I wanted fries, they don't even serve fries. In this town it is a hit and miss with restaurants. Sad to say the quality goes down hill after a while and this place needs to rethink their staff and cooking.

Since I do not live in Kingman, but I do visit every other month, this IS the place to eat. The hibachi chicken is very good, the Yakisoba is plentiful and very good. Actually, everything is plentiful and of the items I have had, all were good.

If I could give this no stars I would. The waitress dumped an entire tray of sodas on me and my son They didn't even offer to give us a discount on out meal, still charged us for the drinks and added the 6 or more (big party gratuity tip) to the tab even though 3 of the 6 in the party were under the age of 7. Terrible way to do business.

Best in kingman! we order takeout every so often. The rolls we like are: Hawaiian, 911, Tiger, and Crazy Spicy Roll. We have tried many others too.

You won't believe it you can get great sushi in Kingman Arizona. I have eaten here at least 50 times since they opened and I have NEVER been disappointed. Compared to big city prices Sakura is the deal of the century...my favorites are the sweet honey roll...the tuna or salmon collar specials and the pokei bowl...additionally they have a great beer and saki selection.

  • Suzanna A.

Sushi was delicious! The Grand Canyon roll & dragon roll were absolutely great! Our compliments to the chef. The sauces on the rolls; not really necessary. The only reason this is a 4 & not a 5 is the service. A bit slow and nonchalant. Not even a thank you when we left. Would we eat here again; of course (if we find ourselves in Kingman again) will we tip favorably; probably not if the service is the same (girl with a scratchy voice)

Egg flower soup was meh. Tasted like egg water. Server was pleasant but new to the restaurant. I had the pineapple rice. Lots of spice and flavor. HUGE portion. Restaurant could use a good cleaning. Lots of dusty surfaces. Not horrible and I'll probably be back at some point.

Went a little after 2pm on Monday. Not crowded. They still serve lunch specials at this time. The lunch specials are good, nicely priced. We ordered to go. It would be great if they added a couple of pieces of sushi to that. Miso and salad are good. I love the rolls. We bought two lunch specials and shared the rolls: CA roll, Eel, Spicy tuna and crunchy. All very good and fresh! The hostess brought our containers to us to go which was nice.

I've visited this place twice since it opened and have mixed feelings. The atmosphere is great but the service lacked both times. I pawned it off on the fact that they are a new business and haven't gotten into a good routine yet. With that said, we've ordered a variety of items and they were all pretty decent. I'm currently pregnant so I haven't gotten a chance to try the fresh sushi yet but the baked rolls were awesome. We will probably try going a couple more times, mostly because it's the only place in kingman for food of its kind.

Of course I understand being in the desert seafood is hard to find, but WOW! Horrible! Their Asian cuisine is by far one of the worst I ever had. It is ashame that being in Kingman there is only a few cuisine for Asian food. I have given this place numerous tries to give it the benefit of the doubt, but it never seize to amaze me of their horrible food. If you are desperate for local Japanese food then be my guest. Be warned though, sashimi is def frozen fish and the wok cooking is no where close to good.

We looked for a nice Sushi dinner after a long driving day. Based on Yelp, we got here. One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The California Roll was so... Couldn't eat that. Every thing was too much or too dry or not esthetic. Not the cleanest place if I may say. Never again.

Got the Bento box. The sushi was Horrible. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll- the tuna was mushy and fishy, we couldn't eat it. The hibachi chicken and steak was good. Service wasn't good. Our waitress did not check on us one time until the end. My cup sat empty for 15 mins.

Visiting family/friends in the Kingman area and we stopped here to eat. I have to say that the sushi we had was really good. My friend had the hibachi chicken and shrimp which she really enjoyed. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was really good. We got the lunch special so it came with the cucumber salad, miso soup and rice. Service was ok.

Craving sushi, I thought I would give Sakura a try. Reviews looked good. Upon entering there was a slight fishy smell. Server`s presonality was.... let`s just call him "Lurch". Decided to go for a beer, miso soup, tempura and pad thai. Beer was ice cold, yeah. Miso soup was room temp, no problem Lurch warmed it up. Tempura was fried but like a tough panko instead of a fluffy tempura. Pics attached. The pad thai lacked all of the essential flavors that define a pad thai. No red pepper, no green onion, no fish sauce, no flavor, how about a peanut maybe....though it did have an oxidized sesame oil nose. Given this I would hesitate at a return to attempt sushi.

The food is good. Only drawback is that some of the rolls are a little too big to eat in one bite. I eat here about twice a month and so far have been happy with everything I've had. No complaints from this sushi fan.

vegetable sushi and salmon teriyaki bento pretty good. have good chinese food options.good vegetarian options. I can see why they get poor reviews for the sushis. my spider roll wasn't that good. but for in the middle of no where , glad to be eating rather decent Asian good.
