There aren't many options in Kayenta. This is a very basic, very low priced place that was clean and efficient. The menu has a few Navajo and Mexican options, but is basically just your usual diner fare. Chicken fried steak was excellent, but cold mashed potatoes, corned can and canned chicken rice soup could have stayed in the kitchen. Cash only and no alcohol. Go if you are hungry and broke.

This review is for breakfast. Fabulous. Blue corn pancakes are amazing - my son and I had them, and we know our way around pancakes! Locals joint - parking lot full, and very friendly and fast service.

Been here today for the first time after visiting monument valley. Good food for a really great price. Had the bbq pork ribs for dinner. Drinks for free! Was really surprised when I saw the total price. Only 38 dollars for 4 persons! I would really consider coming back again.

Update: One of my friends that was on the earlier motorcycle trip stopped in at this establishment again recently. He raved about it again. Even sent me a text bragging about it with a picture. Fry Bread....damn that fry bread to hell. Looking back, we didn't judge their appearance and they didn't judge ours. Despite the way we appeared (and smelled) when we rode in, we got treated with respect. We may look a bit sketchy but we are considerate working class guys. I might find fault in any individual that goes to this place and doesn't give the respect it deserves and if you didn't find it here, I suggest you take a long look at yourself. I would go out of my way to go back to this place.

Decent food at good prices. Restaurant was clean and presentable. Waitress was right on time being friendly and quick. Only drawback is the restaurant does not take credit cards. I would stop in there again.

The funny part is that he place is full of locals, so they obviously like it. The service was great, honestly great. But by the love of God the food has no taste ! The cook has no idea about spices, or even how to freaking salt the mashed potatoes, or even warm them up properly. The meal was mainly a mix of reheated canned goods, microwaved and / or poorly deep fried frozen stuff, with an amazingly GOOD navajo taco with two extra breads, which is what we all ended up sharing, we were hungry what can I say.

I stopped off at this diner on the recommendation of a friend after visiting Monument Valley. He has travelled the area a lot in his day, and while he recommended the San Juan Inn for better Navajo tacos, I was too hungry to drive the extra distance. The service is friendly but reserved. The diner's interior belies the actual quality of the food. Where you feel like you've entered a non-chain version of Norms or perhaps Denny's, the food strikes a chord closer to home made. While it isn't the best meal I've ever had, it was very enjoyable, and given the options in Kayenta...with fast food comprises the majority of them, this is a welcome alternative with good food. All in all, I would happily return when I pass this way again, although I am still left curious about the San Juan Inn a bit further down the road (and out of Kayenta proper).

Great food & inexpensive. Reminded me of a diner back East. Don't waste your money at Burger King or Denny's. Give this place a try if passing through on your way to/from Monument Valley!

Stopped here for lunch as we were driving through Kayenta, and so glad we did! Loved the 'Nava-Taco' (taco on Navajo fry bread), super tasty! Obviously a local haunt for the townsfolk, but it was clean with good food and reasonably priced... What more could you want?

While Kayenta is only a way station between the Grand Canyon and points East for most, it was my destination. It was the base of operations for exploration of Monument Valley and the Navajo Reservation. Over several years, I spent the equivalent of at least one month off road and off grid. By the end of research for a book I knew just about every shop and restaurant in town and along the blacktop from Tuba City to Ganado Trading Post, as well as Black Mesa where the Hopi Rez hides its magical mesa-top riches. Blue Coffee Pot became my regular spot for breakfast, and often dinner. Coming in dirty and dusty from a day of hikes, climbs and crawls was never a problem. The locals, at first mildly distrustful of a stranger in their midst, slowly warmed up to me, and once they understood what I was about, often came to sit with me over the excellent coffee and big breakfasts to tell me their stories, and listen to mine. It was from these great folks that I learned where to go and what to look for on my discovery of prehistoric America. On occasion I was even invited to their homes to meet the family, and partake in their traditions. Much of the material I write about came from those moments. So for me Blue Coffee Pot is more than just a very good place to chow down in this remote part of the Southwest, but a literal melting pot where strangers become friends. The food is solid, and sometimes, inspired. It has a Navajo/Mex/Tex/Americano ambiance. You won't find people from your world, but everyone has a smile, and a tale to tell. If you have a couple of days to look around, and you return a few times, you will feel like Kayenta and Blue Coffee Pot are part of your life forever, and will leave you with a story for your grandchildren. PS. "The middle of nowhere," is the heart of somewhere for someone. It just takes a while to feel it.

It's a place to eat when there isn't much else to choose from. The food wasn't bad but not great either. My dad found onion slices in the side of mayo that he ordered. Perhaps that's a cultural thing...I don't know. I had a plain cheese burger instead of the enchilada I wanted because the tortillas were gone. The food seemed fresh though I did not see any fruit at any of the tables. Being that it is one of the few places to eat here I would probably eat here again but only if I were passing through. Friendly staff and clean dining are where the stars come from.

A true catastrophy. The restaurant was recommended to us by the receptionist at the inn as the best restaurant in town. Almost inedible food, terrible service, dirty... To make it short: just go to any of the fast food chains for a meal in Kayenta. Don't bother with this restaurant...

We picked the place in town with the most Cars in three parking lot and it's consistently this place. The food is quite traditional, but large plates of good food. I would suggest local dishes as that is what they do best. The Navajo nacho (Fry bread with a taco on top) looked great. Great service and nice people.

Bright clean restaurant serving both the Denny's standards plus Native American food. Meal was OK, nothing to rave about here but it may have been our selection. The staff was excellent. Give it a try.

Being pleasantly surprised is always welcomed. Short walk from the airport I was greeted by low prices, prompt service and dinner taste. This is another spec in the desert town that has provided what I need to stay full and satisfied. The Ice Tea was garnished with lemon juice in a packet! Odd, but can you blame them? Lemons are not exactly in great supply on Indian reservation.

Even if you're hungry, keep driving. We hated this place and it became the joke of our road trip. Was definitely a "low point." Found it in the Moon guidebook. It's very true that Kayenta has few restaurants, but we were wishing that we had just gone to McDonald's, an extreme move for three people who have collectively spent less than $10 in a McDs in the last 15 years. My mom's burger was foul, fries limp. Sister and I did our best to ingest lousy enchiladas. I didn't finish mine for fear of food poisoning. Service was SLOW despite lots of staff (who saw me standing at the register waiting to pay, and didn't budge). Yes, it was cheap - but ultimately penny-wise, pound foolish. Zero stars.

Local restaurant in a desert town - friendly service, low prices and good food - what more does a traveller ask for ? Definitely a good recommendation if you are staying in Kayenta.

We went here for breakfast and just got eggs and toast- totally solid diner breakfast.

It's an good option in the middle of nowhere. Food was well prepared and inexpensive. Cash only. Remember where you are and you won't be disappointed.

Cash only, fine with me, if I owned a small restaurant I wouldn't want to pay the credit card interchange fee either. We had breakfast here and if we drive thru Kayenta again, we will stop here again. Our breakfast was freshly prepared and hot. the coffee was good and the legend of the Blue Coffee Pot was interesting.
