stopped in for a pit stop during a road trip. the intent was to have just a beer or two, but that notion was soon forgotten. i always seek out local craft beers while traveling so what's a better place to go than an establishment that only serves local options? the selection was varied and some of the flavors were eclectic. rather than offering a suggestion, my advice is to sample as much as your liver can handle. the atmosphere was casual and somewhat sophisticated. by that i mean the bar wasn't inundated with college students returning to campus from summer break and looking to make mistakes. a stellar blues guitarist/singer out of l.a. fed the energy and everyone was engaged in conversations. the highlight of the night was the bar keep, cori. she was knowledgeable and friendly enough with the right amount of sass. loved her vibe! eva also made an appearance, although she wasn't on the clock, and she was also wonderful company. other fellow travelers filled in the lulls while cori was kept busy by the other patrons. in short, if you want to try arizona's best offerings and listen to good blues, check out the state bar. this is my first review in spite of being a yelp member for years. that's how happy i am about my visit. cori's threats had nothing to do with it.

What a fun place in Flagstaff! I love concept of the State Bar. All wines, beers, and ciders are from Arizona, and the menu indicates where from. I ordered a delicious blueberry cider from Prescott. Blueberry cider! My sister ordered beer from Tempe. The service was excellent. The bartender was friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. She brought us water for our table and made sure to card everyone, even my 60-year-old mother. There weren't tons of people inside at the time, but it had a friendly vibe. I noted everyone chatting with the bartender.

This is a beer-and-wine-only bar that serves only Arizona-local drinks....and THAT is why we made sure this was a stop while we were in town. It was midday on a Sunday when we were able to check the State Bar out. First: the location is right downtown - perfect. Second: the decor is rad. It's very "old cabin, old western bar" - but clean. Third: the locals that frequent this place were great. Everyone in the bar was talking to each other. The bartender was included too. There were about 8 of us at the horseshoe-shaped bar just talking about various beer styles, etc. Everyone was friendly and not pretentious at all. Also, the beer selection was great and the price was right! I got a sampler, but wound up getting other beers as well. One of the regulars bought me a beer "cocktail," too, because he insisted I should try the mix. It was fab! Check out the mead they have from a meadery in Prescott. Mind-blowing stuff.

What a great idea for a place! I never fully appreciated the range and diversity of brews from right here in the state of "reasonable suspicion." My girlfriend and I were walking down 66 on Valentine's Day -- which happened to be their opening day, they literally just opened a few hours before -- so we stopped in and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. It was fun watching people walk by out front and do double takes as they were probably like "what the hell?" Anyways, give it a try for sure!

Local offerings only! Awesome. Owner tells me you can bring your own food as they are about one thing.... Local brews and wines. Loved it. Try the pineapple beer or ask for a taster and try a little of everything.

Today was the soft opening and the bar was amazing with an original copper roof great bar and great ambiance. The owner is amazing and so is his staff!! There were 50 different Arizona beers tonight and there will be 30 Arizona beers on tap plus 6 Arizona wines on tap. Come support this great place right on Route 66!! My only issue was that the taps aren't going to be put in until February 19 so we will have to come back for that. Still a great soft opening and I don't give five stars very easily. Come visit soon!

Our first stop in Flagstaff. We walked in to find the lovely Christina who helped us find the perfect local brew. I had the Blueberry wheat which actually tasted like a blueberry muffin. Another favorite was the mud shark pumpkin ale. It's a quiet place with jazz music playing softly in the background. Try them out and visit Christina!!

If your into craft beers or the hippie scene of flagstaff I would say this is the place to go. Only do craft beers from AZ but it would be nice for the simple folk if a few mainstream beers would be offered for persons like me who are asked to meet a friend here.

The best bar in Flag for Arizona craft beer!! The owner, Brian, is awesome, and we love hanging out at this Arizona beer and wine hot spot!

Love, love, LOVE this place! Every worker I've met there so far has been awesome; last night was Christina, also a brewer at Wanderlust, who took advantage of the slow night to edumacate everyone on beer science. It was basically the best thing ever. And while they only serve local beer (and wine), I noticed that they don't serve just any local beer, they know their stuff and take care to only choose the very best this town and this state has to offer. But if you aren't a beer nerd or aficionado, no worries: the staff is knowledgeable and friendly and will help you find a beer that you will like.

I really wanted to like this place. I own a small business in AZ, and love the concept of this bar, but wow did I had a miserable time here. Our party of 6 came in tonight, waited in line at the bar, got our drinks, and proceeded to chat and have a good time, then they start an open mic comedy thing. We didn't know it was coming, but whatever, we order more drinks and keep conversing. Mind you we are a very wild bunch, a computer geek, and an online bookseller, grabbing a drink after a city council meeting. Midway through the second act, the MC tells us to shut up or get out. We did... Get out that is. I will take my money elsewhere, and I'll tell all my friends to do the same.

Horrible service - bar tender to busy flirting to do his job sat for 30 minutes while I waited for friends to join me no service

We love it here! Only AZ Beer and Wine... Um... AWESOME!! The staff is only friendly and the beers are always great! We like to Start with a flight. But I love that we are supporting a local bar with local beers! Oh and local art work for sale on the walls!! Great idea for a bar!

This is a pretty good bar. Probably the best in Downtown Flagstaff. The beer selection is good, the service is good, and the music is usually good. To tell you the truth, I am having trouble coming up with a useful review because I can't remember much of my experience here. Its not that I got drunk or hungover, or anything like that (I hardly drink), but its hard to describe the pure bliss I felt the three times I visited this place. Its really a place where I can hang out and feel at home. However, the prices of the drinks are a little too expensive for the quality. Overall, this is a nice place, and I enjoy coming here a lot whenever I do so. Be prepared to pay a little more for drinks though.

Only AZ beers and wines, great concept! When we came in on a Saturday night, it was wall to wall packed with a nice variety of different people. Our bartender was awesome, I think she mentioned she was the asst manager. Great ambience, it was dim but had lights pointing to the cool art on the wall. Everything was super clean which is a big plus. I love the Arizona theme! I'm a native, I love my state, I've always wanted a place like this to make sure I catching all the local brews. I'll make it a regular stop every time I'm in Flag. I'd also like to mention that this bar had a perfect 5 star rating (quite a feat) until someone unfairly rated it a 3. Not being "main stream" enough shouldn't be a reason for 3 stars. C'mon.

My favorite fill-up station in Flagstaff. The staff is always very friendly and helpful and the selection of beer, wine, ciders etc. from AZ is great. Instead of hopping from brewery to brewery, you can come here instead and try the best of every local brewery. It really is a great concept. Tom is my favorite bar tender, super nice guy. The Sonoran White Chocolate Ale is incredible. Try it if they still have it on tap when you're there. They usually have a barrel aged cider of some sort that will surprise you as well. They don't serve food, however, so if you're hungry then order something from one of the local restaurants and bring it in. They allow that.

Well, husband and we're excited to try this place because we love supporting AZ beer and wine. There were 2 guys setting up food at the front of the bar and they did greet us, but that was the only time someone acknowledged us. I walked up to the bar to grab a menu. We sat down at a table and for about 5 minutes of looking at the menu, the bartender never came over. Not sure if you HAVE to order at the bar,but why have tables then? We were not liking the selections, so we left without ordering anything, not that it seemed like anyone cared. What a shame since we got a great parking spot out front on the street!

In Flagstaff for one day/night, and Yelp led us here. Live music on a Tuesday clinched the deal. Great service from Eva led us to try a flight of mead selections. We followed that with some quality Arizona red wine. An awesome way for two travelers to spend an evening.

Want a Flagstaff experience check out the State Bar. Super friendly service, great local folks and awesome beer list. Didn't even mention they have some good blues going. Swing by if you're in town.

Love this place ! If you enjoy live music, especially Jazz & blues this is a great place for you. They have over 30 local beers & wines. They also now have a vendor on site who serves food Wednesday- Saturday's. Wils Grill serves delicious bbq, drumsticks, enchiladas & much more, perfect for when you're drinking awesome beers and listening to music. Great atmosphere & great service.

Love the concept of showcasing local product. We were touring around the city and a few locals suggested we check out State Bar. Fabulous experience. Very friendly staff and great ambience. Will definitely go back next time we're in town.

Came into state bar and was greeted by Ryan. He took care of us and made us feel at home. They have a diverse tap selection of all LOCAL brews. Also only local wines! The one downside is there's no kitchen or food but we were told they are working on getting catering certain days.

Great place to stop in and have a great beer or wine at a great place. Not to mention the owner is extremely knowledgable and down to earth. If you're in the market for some quality artwork and good drinks make sure to stop in.

We had a wonderful time here while vacationing in Arizona back in January. My husband and I wondered upon this place based on the great Yelp reviews they received. We found a seat at the very busy bar and ordered a bottle of wine. All of the beers and wines are from AZ while is a really cool concept. We struck up a conversation with the 2 gentlemen sitting beside us, one of who happened to be the owner. We explained the whole concept behind his local bar and has even had experience in wine bottling. Needless to say, this was a very cool experience. We ended up buying 2 bottles of wine to enjoy later on our trip. The vibe was casual and fun with a live band playing jazz music. We stayed until the bar closed and left very happy. We will be returning when we make our way back to Flagstaff!

The concept of local beers and wines was great, and I also enjoyed the dark wood. I didn't find an IPA I was particularly blown away with, but since I've had hundreds of them, that's hard to do.

Not good, not bad.. This place needs some personality.. Small beers and big prices, better beers for the $ elsewhere in Flag

As an out-of-towner, I really enjoyed this place. They have a bunch of Arizona beers on tap and the service is super friendly. I had a chance to talk with the owner for a few minutes and he seems to be the type of guy I'd enjoy sharing a pint with. Check this place out if you're passing through Flagstaff and looking to taste some of the local flavor.

Nothing but local Arizona brews offered here. It was quiet and the decor is nice. Would recommend every time.

The State Bar is a lot of fun and has a lot of surprises with the Arizona made craft beers and wines. I don't have a favorite, but I am more apt to drink the wine and I love the wineries from Jerome, Patagonia, and Cochise Stronghold areas. The Dos Cabezas varieties were particularly good on my last visit. Give it a try for the sake of trying something.

We loved this place. We were warmly welcomed by the bartender ... refreshing after the experience we had at a bar down the street. The selection here is amazing and the bartender is very knowledgeable. I'm not a big fan of beer but she helped me pick one that I liked. I also had a wonderful glass of wine. Everything is local so you have a chance to try AZ's best. The other great thing about this place was that the clientele was very diverse, from ages to cultures. And the local artwork on the walls was beautiful, and all for sale. This was my first time in Flagstaff and I would definitely recommend stopping in here for some local flavor.

What a great addition to Flagstaff. The bar offers a HUGE selection of AZ beers, both on tap and bottle. They also have AZ wines. Live music, friendly service and at great prices!

Stopped in today for a beer with friends. Great ambiance, beautiful architecture and amazing selection of Arizona beer and wine. Jazz music in the background, but not so loud as to prohibit conversation. I'm a fan of dark beers and the Wet Snout Milk Stout did not disappoint. Worth checking out!
