I know this is a chain restaurant, but! You can find some crappy chains. This one is good!

I haven't had fried catfish in ages, and when I ordered it at Cracker Barrel today in Flagstaff, these folks sure delivered up a great plate of it. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was great, I really enjoyed it. Why three stars? Well, my wife ordered chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. They put too much flour in the CFS gravy, the beans were ho hum, and the mashed potatoes tasted largely of grease (something that I was able to confirm). She did think that the fried okra was primo though. . . This CB appears to have great food at times, but it depends on what you get. They seem pretty inconsistent from dish to dish. Prices are average, and don't really seem worth it if you don't get good quality food that time around. There's also the disappointment factor--my wife has gone to this CB before and has left quite satisfied in the past. She walked out today feeling not only disappointed but also let down by their noticeable drop in quality on this occasion. While I liked my dish, this makes me wonder what roll of the dice I could get next time. On our next visit to Flag, any suggestion about going to Cracker Barrel will be accompanied by the question, "But you remember how they were the last time?" Stay tuned. . .

The prices blew me away, until I saw the food. I think practically everything is under $10 and comes with 3 sides. But the food was just okay. I even tried the chicken fried steak, probably for the 1st time in 10 years. It was just so very okay. The sides sounded a lot better than it tasted - I had the fried okra, collard greens, and something else I just cant recall. It looks as if servied in a mess hall, things just tossed on the plate - no presentation and things looked out of proportion. Boys had chicken and dumpling which they did not like at all. Service was very spotty as well. The waitress said something about being short handed.

Inexpensive, well prepared and authentic southern style food. I'll return here every chance I get.

Pretty good for a chain restaurant, but as my good friend would say, "Nothing to write home about." The service has always been good and the food is decent. I just LOVE their store though! I enjoy walking around and checking out all of their items. I also look forward to sitting in their lovely rocking chairs after my meal. I've never had dinner at Cracker Barrel but maybe I'd enjoy it even more than their breakfast items. It's too bad that we don't have any locations in the Las Vegas area...

I had been wanted to try this place for ever. I finally did in Flagstaff and I am pretty glad i did. Great service, nice ambiance (specially for family purposes) and fair food and prices. A great place to go if you don't have any plan and need something good, fast and convenient.

Was not impressed at all when I unwrapped my silverware the spoon had food caked all over it. My water glass also had something stuck on the inside. Someone had to have wrapped the silverware and filled the glass and if they didn't notice the filth what else might not be sanitary? Food was just ok. The only redeeming quality was they had good coffee.

WOW...I see some people being so critical about this place. You have to remember it is a restaurant chain and if I had an option of Cracker Barrel, Denny's, Village Inn, Sizzler or any of those other chains you find right off the highway, well my vehicle would automatically take me to Cracker Barrel. It's a great place for groups and families but can also be fun for a couple on the road. Definitely down-home country, warm and inviting! I've always had great service and any special requests or substitutions have always been filled with a smile. You can find some excellent choices for any meal here, but my favorite is breakfast. The hash-brown casserole is the best and I love their bacon. I request my bacon crispy and it's always perfect. Grits can be a bit bland if you're not used to them, so ask for a side of apple butter to mix in. Apple butter is also tasty on the biscuits if you're not a fan of gravy. I have noticed that some diners leave change for a tip...like 75 cents. Just because it seems like you're "in the country" doesn't mean you should tip like these wonderful servers don't need to make a living. Dish out some dollars! When you are done eating, check out their country store...some of the items are a bit pricey, but sometimes you can snag a deal! They always have great seasonal items.

We visited twice on our recent trip to Flagstaff and we were not disappointed. However we did have a long wait Sunday morning. My primary complaint would be the difficulty getting to the restaurant and the restrooms due to customers congregating in the walkways. Our server remembered us from our first visit and even mentioned that she remembered what my son ordered - that went a long way with us. Thanks, Katie! The food is always yummy at Cracker Barrel. Never a disappointment.

I am giving this restaurant two stars for their take out service. If you're going to offer "to go" service then please be able to provide it. Twice now they have screwed up my wife's take out order. Tonight's debacle was the final straw. My wife ordered two bacon cheese burgers - just the normal one with fries. The first time they brought it out, there was no bun. The waitress said that she had ordered off the low carb menu, which she didn't. The manager got involved and they re-did the order, this time no fries. Third time they finally got it all right, and the manager said that he made it all fresh. Well that was a big lie. We live about a mile away, by the time my wife got home, everything was cold. They didn't remake anything, just kept repackaging it. All of this took 45+ minutes. Should have went to Chili's.

Yum yum yum!!! We spent a long day driving up from Phoenix & playing in the snow.... This stop was the perfect dinner to top it off before driving back down. I got the fried catfish platter with mash potatoes, Mac & cheese, and a side salad. It came with a buttermilk biscuit and a corn bread muffin !! So much food and so good!! Very satisfying!! I will definitely stop here the next time I am up north!!

Cracker Barrel is a tradition in my family. When I heard my husband had never been to one, I made it a point to have dinner here when staying in Flagstaff. The service was excellent, we had the same service both nights we went, and she was fantastic! Very helpful too. I have a gluten allergy and I am a vegetarian, so it's some times hard for me to find anything to eat. The manager and our waitress were very understanding and quick to make sure I was able to find something to eat. I had the loaded baked potato with broccoli the first night: it was huge! Plus incredibly scrumptious! The second night I had the veggie platter, you get to choose four veggies, and get biscuits or corn bread with it too. I couldn't either though because of my gluten allergy, but my husband said they were tasty. The prices were so cheap too! At least, compared to Los Angeles prices lol

Its cracker barrel! If you haven't eaten at one before then you've never done a roadtrip! Everything on the menu is good. Great place for kids and adults who like to be entertained by little trinkets. The place is as country as it gets but I love it!

So disappointed! My husband and I are here from out of town and we were lucky enough to time it just right with a crazy snow storm! We stopped here on the way back to the hotel and places a to-go order. The guy who took our order was about the only good thing. He was very friendly! Once the food was done an employee came out and instead of calling our name she went from group to group asking if they were waiting for a to-go order. When she came to me she looked in the bag and said here's your stuff and the receipt and walked away. There was no cashier and i wasn't even sure if my husband had paid yet or not. Finally a nice cashier came over to check us out. When we got to the room we went to open our food. No salt, pepper, ketchup, ranch, butter, and sauce was missing on the meatloaf. REALLY!!!? They weren't even busy... This was so frustrating especially because the food was dry and not seasoned at all. My husband called to inform the management of this and they put him on hold for 10 minutes, got back on and said "uhm she is talking to someone do you still want to hold or leave your name?" He held for another 5 minutes before hanging up. Called back and said he had been on hold for a long time, the girls immediate response was oh oh wait just a minute and put him on hold... No "can I place you on a brief hold" or even "I'm sorry sir we are very busy would you hold for one more moment?" So after being on hold AGAIN for a while he hung up and called again! She answered again and he just gave his name and # this time. She said the manager would get right back to him... That was four hours ago. This turned from a small annoyance to a big problem! Never again...

You want nostalgic candy? Come to Cracker Barrel. I've actually gone out of my way to get the taffy...the foot long 3 inch wide kind featuring colors not normally found in any food product. Yep, that's the one. And it tastes just like it did when I was a kid, down to the subtle wax left after you rip the paper off it. Perfect. They have a whole wall of old timey candy, and they have peppermint sticks at Christmas that are sure to make a candy believer out of anyone. In addition they have decent food at good prices, and they have a large gift area that has some kind of cool clothes for fair prices.

Service was good but haven't been able to get poached eggs at this location for two years. Servers always say the poaching machine is broken.

Cracker Barrel is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get. One time the service and food is great, the next time your server will drop your check off at the same time as your food and will disappear never to be seen again.

I went twice today and last night. We went again because the food was so great and the really service was amazing last night. We have four kids and our food was out very fast both times. I loved The Sampler Platter and Uncle's Favorite.

Whoever jerk faces made this restaurant 3 1/2, you guys have no taste! Because, when I got there I was amazed at how awesome a chain restaurant could get! That has been my favorite restaurant forever! Second time I went i ordered the french toast pancakes! They were perfect! But even better is their french toast! I took a road trip to Flagstaff with my grandma and grandpa, and out of all of the restaurants we went to, I loved this one the most! i hope some of you guys change your minds and rate this place 5 stars, because in my perspective, it earned it!

On our way back from Durango, CA we stopped here for a spot of supper. I've been eating at Cracker Barrel restaurants for years, and one thing I like about them is that they are consistent. Whether you're eating at one in Flaggstaff, AZ or in Knoxville,TN the quality of food, service and atmosphere is the same, and it's well done. I've been to Cracker Barrel mostly for breakfast, but they're dinner menu isn't foreign to me either. This time I had chicken fried chicken with mash potatoes and fried okra, a Southern favorite.Their Chicken fried chicken might not be the best I'veever had, but it's damn good. I aloshad the berry cobbler for dessert which was a first for me and Idefinitely enjoyed it. Service was prompt and attentive even though the place was very busy, it was on the end of the 4th of July weekend, so several other motorists had the same idea as us.

THIS PLACE IS NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY. My server went over the things that did not have meat substances in it and it was just limited to corn, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. I was surprised that the other menu items like collard greens, hash brown casserole and fried apples were not completely vegetarian. I ordered the mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese and it came out in TINY proportions. My friends ordered meat entrees and they also came out in smalll proportions. We finished our meal in 4 minutes or so. We were not full. When we looked at the receipt I saw that they charged my macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes as a kids meal!!! Which is kind of funny, but explains why my portion was soooo small. It was like one spoonful each! The macaroni and cheese was really good though and my boyfriend really liked his lemon fillet, but we just wished there was bigger portions.

Perfect road trip stop. My bf and I recently traveled from Tahoe to Denver and obviously we had to stop at a CB. I love that there was an entire half of the restaurant dedicated to ridiculousness. They had old timey candy and John Deer paraphanelia along with any Christmas decoration you could ever want. They even rent out books on tape that you can return at another CB. Its like a truck stop library. So its worth the stop and I think all locations are probably right off the freeway. The food was good too. Homemade biscuits and cornbread with almost everything on the menu. Awesome. My bf had a plate with mac'n'cheese, fried okra, sweet potatoe casserole, ham, meatloaf, and chicken'n'dumplings! They aren't messing around when they say comfort food.

I love me some Cracker Barrel! Mmmm mmm. I just wish they were in California! I especially love their gift shop, which is filled with overpriced useless junk that you really don't need, but then again, that's all part of the appeal of the place.... you must exercise restraint!

Service was great, ambiance was as charming as any of them, but my pancakes were crunchy. Yep, crunchy. Nope, not whole grain or nut or anything, just sinfully overcooked (burnt blueberries should usually tip off a cook to start over.) It's pretty bad when you have to wonder if Denny's would've been a better option.

I've heard legends about this place, especially being a Southern California boy. I hear friends just taking a road trip to AZ just to get Cracker Barrel, for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. So I had the opportunity to eat here when our church stopped by AZ on our way to a missions trip in New Mexico. One of my friends said "dude, cracker barrel run while we stop for lunch." I was sold. Walked in and the first thing I noticed was the really awesome decor of the Goods Store. The smell of good homecooked food followed suit. The store here itself has all these crazy little trinkets/toys/and best of all OLD FASHIONED CANDIES!!! The moon pies were what really caught me. THEY HAD MINT MOON PIES. Oh yeah, soo great. Mint, chocolate, soft cookie, I was in HEAVEN. on to the Food at CB. I had their Chicken fried Chicken Lunch, with sauteed Apples, eggs, and a butermilk biscuit. We ordered to Go, so it was a good 15 minutes after I got my food that I had the chance to eat it, but wow, was it good. The Chicken was breaded perfectly, not soggy at all. Great kick of pepper and salt, with a really nice and creamy white gravy over the top. I could imagine how good this would taste straight from the kitchen, but this sufficed greatly. What I LOVED were the cinnamon sauteed apples. The apples were perfectly al dente, not mushy and over cooked. There was a firmness to each bite, a good amount of cinnamon, and spices. Great, not too sweet compliment to the chicken. Biscuits were good, but destroyed by then because we ran back to catch the bus, and they were so fluffy and light that all the hustle and bustle pretty much broke them to pieces, but from what I tasted, good butter flavor, crisp exterior, and tender middle. Yeah, I'm definitely a fan, and I will be back to try all their other great breakfast stuff =D

Soup came out after the food and it tasted like it was opened from a can. "grilled" chicken was burned and had no taste. Gross. We will never go again. Food was disgusting. I rather have a frozen dinner.

for a chain restaurant the food here is good. Our waitress was extremely friendly & helpful with the choices. My boyfriend & I are more red meat eaters he had the prime rib excellent & I had top sirloin it was good. Great price for good food.

Very disgusted and disappointed. My very first time to eat because of the recommendations from friends. The employees and servers were wonderful upon getting in through the merchandise store to the restaurant. Unfortunately, the silverware and water glass was very dirty. How can you miss that if they roll then on napkins? Was planning on eating again on the next restaurant in Kingman, AZ on our way to CA but opted not to. Sorry but will not be returning to any Cracker Barrel ever.

I AM a fan! We stopped here several times on a driving vacation while staying down the street. The portions were ample, folks were friendly and there were so many items on the menu, even our "picky eaters" were satisfied. If you are in an unfamiliar place and need to stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner you will definitely find something to satisfy here. Stop in for dessert if you like, but never for a "snack" since they don't offer "snack" portions.

First CB ever, and maybe it was the really long road trip or the excessive amount of bad food along the way, but this place really reminded me of home-cooked food that hits the spot for what it is! Sweet atmosphere, and very family-friendly. Fun candy and games worthy of wasting some time and money :-)

What can you say, Cracker Barrel is just amazing.

  • Stella N.

Yes, it is Cracker Barrel. I have had a variety of foods at many Cracker Barrels. My dad loved this place but he also never saw a buffet he didn't like. Recently I stopped with my bfs on a road trip. Our fried chicken expert said it was only OK but he wouldn't come back for it. My other bf, expert in all other meats gave the same opinion - it was OK but not enough to come back for. If you are vegetarian as I am, it's difficult you have a choice of mediocre salad, potato, or vegetable sides, but don't expect fresh veggies. I had to go 2 stars because I've had better.

  • Lizzie P.

I used to love Cracker Barrel. I don't know if its the fact they've expanded like crazy around the USA or they just don't care about their customers, but this one stunk. The service was horrible, the waiter kept trying to rush us into ordering, asking "you ready, huh?", we noticed he did this to all the customers around us. Secondly, the food was bad. Normally the food is always fresh tasting and warm, the only thing warm was the biscuits. The mac and cheese was bland, the mashed potatoes were hard and the apples and cinnamon were room temperature and lacked that magical buttery sauce. I was also looking for cool souvenirs from their normally unique gift shop. Noticed this time, all the stuff they were selling were things I could buy anywhere. And for less. Super disappointing.

It's a Cracker Barrel, if you've been to one, you been to them all. Just try to get out of there without buying something for one of your kids, there is so much there you are bound to have to get a little over priced trinket for the sake of your sanity.

It was my first time eating at a Cracker Barrel and I was quite impressed. We do not have one of these where I live, but through traveling I have seen these off the highway and always have been curious. The food had a home cooked feel to it. They were out of what I originally wanted and also for some reason didn't tell our waitress until my husband food was ready. So my husband had to start with out me. I ended up getting roast beef which was pretty good, but not very filling. It was a very small portion. But our we were given a free dessert for our troubles, so that made up for stomach room. I would like to try another someday. I also very much enjoyed the the general store before you get to the restaurant, it was all set up for fall and that made me excited because I love FALL.

Cracker Barrel is my new favorite restaurant. I ordered chicken and dumplings with a side of mac n' cheese and green beans. I asked for more dumplings than chicken and they gave me a whole extra side of them. Sooooo goooood. Sooooooooo hearty. The mac n' cheese is AMAZING as well. I will dream about this place because there aren't any in Los Angeles. DREAM.

Since we don't have one of these at home I eat here every time I go to Flagstaff. The service is always excellent and the food is delicious. They didn't seem prepared for the fact that it was move in weekend at NAU as the staff were a bit overwhelmed by the increased number of diners, but it was still a treat.

I was passing through Flagstaff on a road trip this past week to Colorado and my dad took me to try the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. It pisses me off that we don't have one of these out in San Diego, we have to do with crappy old Denny's out here. I'll start off by saying it's the best country style breakfast I have ever had. I had Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast which consisted of two eggs cooked to order, grits, biscuits and gravy, a cheesy hash brown casserole, and a chicken fried chicken topped with gravy. I got my eggs poached because I wanted to see if they could perform a more technical preparation, and they definitely passed. Hell if you asked the server at Denny's for your eggs "poached", they'd look at you like you just spoke some foreign language. The grits were good because they didn't taste bad...if that makes sense. I've never been a fan of grits, and I've never had grits that weren't bad, until now, so I guess that's good right? The biscuits and gravy were amazing, out of this world. If I could bathe in their gravy i would, it's just that damn good. The biscuits themselves were light and fluffy. As for the chicken fried chicken, it was beautiful. Of course it was going to be good because it was slathered with the gravy, but the chicken piece itself was fried perfectly. It was juicy and tender with a nice crunch to contrast the gravy. The sweet tea was the only thing I didn't find wonderful here. My new goal in life is to get this chain out here in SoCal, then my life would be complete. Also as a last note, the store that accompanies the restaurant is awesome. Everything country imaginable is in there, along with some great old time candies that just make me smile looking at, and of course buying too.

Easy on and off from the interstate. Very friendly staff. Clean and good-smelling bathrooms. Sis had the "wholesome sampler breakfast", which had excellent yogurt and granola (as well as a large and in charge blueberry muffin destined for car snacking later). I had bacon and eggs which was hot and yummy. Good coffee and juice.

Worse CB, we have ever encountered. Arrived, 8:30 am for breakfast four adults, one eleven month old. Was seated quickly, then in stared. Table had crumbs or some form of debris on, we just brushed if off. Sevrice was slow and it was NOT crowded for that time of morning. Place our order, waitress reaches in front of my wife to put down my order. Extras for all four of us were on two plates, not individually for who was getting what. Service continued and that level. Food had its plus/minus. Final straw was when leaving I used the rest room, IT WAS DISGUSTING. Toilet paper on the floor, etc. To their credit and found a manager and told him, his response was 'That's where I'm headed'. Read into that what you will. CB stores are always great, and this one was the exception. However, my wife and I do not prefer their dinner menus. But, that may just be us, friends rave about them.

We were exploring Flagstaff and wanted something to eat as our "last meal" before hitting the Grand Canyon. I had always heard of Cracker Barrel, but never tried it. My son and I ventured in. We loved all the rocking chairs on the "porch" of the restaurant (we're assuming they are for people who have to wait for a table). When you walk in, they have you walk through the gift shop. We were seated right away and they had a game at the table for us to play while we waited. The menu is a lot of Southern comfort foods (mac and cheese, turkey and dressing, chicken fried chicken, etc.) They do have a lighter menu so I was able to order grilled chicken with veggies. Two delicious meals for $20! We were pleased. Of course you have to walk through the gift store to pay your bill. We likened it to Disneyland when you come off a ride and it spits you out into the gift store. ha! Good experience. We liked the food and the price was awesome.

I had a pretty good experience with my last experience at Cracker Barrel in Florida so I decided to take my family for dinner here. If you haven't been to one, its quite an experience. You sign up for a table near the entrance of the restaurant then you can peruse the shop as you wait for your table. There's quite a bit of stuff to look at so you'll keep yourself entertained. The wait goes by very fast. Host and waiters are all very friendly. Prices are very good for the amount of food you are getting but the quality of food is just ok. I had buttermilk fried chicken, corn, and sweet potatoes fries. The buttermilk fried chicken was pretty good but the corn tasted like it came out of a bag. Also, the biscuits and cornbread weren't as good as I've had them before. Good place for a decent and affordable meal.

I agree with the 3.5 rate that is the average right now, but going to 3 since Yelp does not have halves. Stopped here for dinner and our server was in training. He was very nice and friendly and I think he had the qualities of a good server. Food was so so though, one of my sides had an undesirable 'guest' and I did not want to have the stuff redone in the interest of time but I asked for a new side. It never came, I had to ask for it to go at the end of our meal. I had the chicken fried steak and it was very chewy, like with nerves or something. Overall not a good experience. We have had better experiences in other locations though.

Normally I'm a Cracker Barrel junkie. When I saw the sign during our CA to MO road trip I made my husband swing through. We were starving. The service was great but the food was lackluster. The food just seemed old and the chicken fried steak was cheaper than the usual texture.

This is such a cute novelty shop. Ranges from adorable baby clothing to bags of bacon jerky and much more variety of items. Everyone is so friendly here! I absolutely loved how welcome I felt. Didn't get a chance to check out the restaurant this time around but will be back for some delicious fall-off-the-bone ribs.

First time visiting this restaurant and was sadly disappointed. The atmosphere and environment was quite appealing and a cute idea with the store so upon arrival I was quite interested. That quickly ended. First, I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. The soup came out extremely cold, not room temperature cold but cold as if it just came out of the fridge. I asked for another soup which she politely brought while telling me "it should be hot I heated it in the microwave longer". Now I guess not all soup has to be made fresh or as ordered but to admit to using a microwave...just a tad in aww of that. May as well tell me you poured it from the can too. I ordered the chicken and dumplings as well. Im not sure if it was the fact it looked like mashed potatoes with strips of chicken underneath this meal or that the dumplings tasted like starch but needless to say I took 4 bites and was done. The service however was positive. She was very apologetic and attentive. Great service is always a plus!

If you live in California visiting the Cracker Barrel is an event. California is one of the few states in the union that has no Cracker Barrel locations. I guess that country style comfort food doesn't fly so well in the land of boutique dining. That being said anytime I find myself somewhere a Cracker Barrel is located I make a point to visit. Recently, I found myself in one of my favorite places Flagstaff, AZ on the morning of a trip to the Grand Canyon for a full day of hiking. I needed a hearty breakfast to get the day started off on the right foot (no pun intended). Arriving early at the Cracker Barrel I was delighted if not somewhat dismayed to find the parking lot nearly empty. I had visited this location in the past and always found it to be teaming with customers in the dining room and perusing the country store that is a staple in all Cracker Barrels while waiting to be seated. Thinking to myself that I had beat the crowds as I entered and was immediately seated in an all but deserted dining room I scrutinized the menu and waited for my server. I did not have to wait long before Ariel came by with a friendly, genuine warm greeting, took my drink order and offered to help with the menu. She promptly returned with my drink and took my order. I was in the mood for a big breakfast so I opted for the Double Meat Breakfast, which is described as Three Eggs, cooked to order with a full order of Bacon and Smoked Sausage Patties. Served with Grits, Sawmill Gravy and Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits along with Real Butter and the best Preserves, Jam n' Apple Butter available upon request. Ariel efficiently processed my order and returned with the food in a reasonable amount of time. I had ordered scrambled eggs and she noticed before the plates were even on the table that the eggs were way over cooked. She immediately offered to replace them and I took her up on the offer. She returned in no time at all with a replacement order of eggs that were prepared better but still over cooked and not exactly scrambled. It was more like the cook had made an omelet with nothing inside. The eggs were folded over instead of scrambled. They were fairly edible and I wasn't going to make Ariel go back for another trip. There was something seriously wrong with the Sawmill Gravy. It had the consistency of paste and had an odd back flavor that I can only describe as plasticy. Those of you who enjoyed Arrested Development will appreciate that. I felt like I was eating the plastic food that was on the table of the model home. The bacon was good thick sliced, crispy and savory. It's hard to ruin bacon unless you burn it or under cook it. The sausage patties were small and over cooked to the point where they were as tough as hockey pucks. The Buttermilk Biscuits were soft, flaky and delicious as they should be. Too bad the sawmill gravy was not worthy of them however, the preserves helped to make up for the gravy. Unfortunately, the butter was frozen and could not be spread. I don't have a great appreciation for grits but on occasion do enjoy them as a side. In addition to being cold the grits where tasteless and resembled cream of wheat more than county grits. Not that I need to say it but this was a disappointing meal. Even if there had been no expectation when I walked in I would have left dissatisfied. I want to make it clear. This was by no means an issue with my server Ariel. She was delightful and worked hard to make sure I was attended to. I never wanted for a refill and every request was fulfilled promptly and with a warm and friendly demeanor. The issue here was in the kitchen with either an inexperienced or incompetent cook and a management team that was not monitoring quality enough to catch it. This experience left me questioning if we are seeing the decline of the Cracker Barrel chain. Are they sacrificing quality to bolster the bottom line in a market that has become extremely competitive with the emergence of gourmet road food? I hope not. I hope that there is room in the market place for both county comfort food and gourmet boutiques and that that Cracker Barrel will once again become a trusted location for a hearty meal and the beginning or end of a long day on the road.

This was our very first experience with Cracker Barrel. The grilled catfish was really good. Most platters come with choice of veggies. I would recommend their turnip greens- very flavorful, and the baked sweet potato- which is healthy for you. The fried liver (which may not be appealing to every one) was surprisingly very good as well. The tenderloin chicken in kids' meal choice was tasty. The mashed potatoes that came with it were a little bland. Too bad they ran out of Mac & cheese. I'll suggest you get the biscuit which is better compared to the gritty corn muffin, which we thought might be improved if creamed corn is added to the batter. Decor was nice - very country & charming. Service is fast. Good food and very reasonable price. Open late until 10 PM. Lovely people & staff. The adjoining store and gift shop is a big plus - we got 2 candy bars, a pack of brain puzzles at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended :)

It's okay I guess. Service was okay, food wasn't very great. Now, the rocking chairs outside? Fantastic! Very comfortable! Loved them! I want one!

We spent Thanksgiving lunch here and by my surprise it was even better than home cooked thanksgiving dinner. The turkey wasn't dry at all and often times that's hard to achieve. I wish we had a Cracker Barrel in Nor Cal

I've spent the last three weeks traveling from Arkansas to California. Being a fan of CB I ate at least 8 CB restaurants. Stopped in Flagstaff for one last meal before CA. Ordered chicken, vegetables and sweet potato fries. Chicken was bland but at least fully cooked. The sweet potato fries were burned and not edible. Couldn't believe the waiter actually served them. Other vegetables tasted like they were taken from the can, heated and served with no seasoning. The service was very slow and the restaurant was not as clean as most CB. Would not recommend this CB. Would find another place to eat lunch or supper.

In flagstaff for some Muay Thai fights and decided to stop by here for some early morning breakfast. It was really good I got the country boy breakfast with some pecan pancakes on the side (yeah I know I can pack it away on my boyish frame) lol but our server Amber N. Was extremely nice and jolly made me feel really welcome. I would of gave this place 5 stars but our toast came out cold and as well with a couple other items. That could partially be our fault because we ordered a ton of food haha. But at the end they were super nice offering to box up anything we had left over, even offering a to-go coffee. I'd definitely come back.

First and foremost.... chain restaurants rarely receive a 3 * in my opinion. They have a pre set menu, rarely go over and above, and often it is "what you pay for." Miss Emily was the manager. She was friendly and considerate! Having a disability, I sat at a table & chair near the the hostess booth...to wait to be seated. Miss Emily offered to let us stay sitting where I was, but offered other arrangements of we so chose. Michelle, was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. As far as we go through drinks that can totally be a challenge. The store & restaurant was a bit of a challenge to find from the highway signs, but we persisted and found the place, moments from turning around to go find a McD's. Food was cooked properly, and delicious. Service was Southern living friendly. . . That you have come to expect from a Cracker Barrel Thanks Michelle, Emily & team for making us feel well servered!

Amazing!!!! I've always wanted to try this restaurant and finally after a quick stop from the road was able to. The store inside is great. So many random things to look at. Our wait for a table was less than 5 minutes. Our waiter, I think was named Seth, was so nice and funny. I ordered fried chicken breast with broccoli and corn. So good! Chicken was super moist and flavorful. They serve breakfast all day. Next time I'll be trying that.

Very Friendly service , I had a cheeseburger , it was pretty good :) only thing I didn't like was their fries , they were steak fries , I don't like steak style fries . Other than that I'd go back . Ps . The lemonade was soooo good ! I would give five stars but I reserve those for places that really knock my socks off :) this place, although good , did not do that .

Food was really good, not bland like some other reviewers said. Cracker Barrels are always fun. Highly recommend this one.

Stopped here for breakfast and will likely not return. Food was brought out cold. Butter was as hard as a rock, which doesn't go well on the day old cold biscuit. Gravy and grits were bland and the sausage patty had a funny texture, kind of like a sausage Salisbury steak patty. The "premium" coffee was anything but. The French toast was decent which kept them from getting only one star.

  • Tiffany T.

I absolutely love their french toast. I wish I could make it the way they do. I love the syrup in the little glass bottles. I absolutely love the light sweet flavor. I had to buy a bottle to take home. Out service was excellent day 1 and terrible day two. I love their country store and I bought many gifts.

Yet another great breakfast. Cracker Barrel stays true to the southern style break. The meals fills you up just right. This is my first visit to Cracker Barrel in a state other than Virginia. This location is nice friendly and clean and the waitress was really energetic @6am. Shows that she's all about great customer service. If your driving through Arizona or even live here in the state you should check it out. Great food and great service. I'm giving them 4 stars because not only do they have good food and great service they also have a store called old country store that sells candy teddy bears t shirts etc etc all types of stuff.

Cracker Barrel restaurants are usually a good safe bet for decent food at a decent price. Clean bathrooms and sweet iced tea! Try the chicken fried chicken and okra!

Given that my 8 year old grandson and I went to dinner here at peak dinner time on Father's Day, the food and service were pretty darn good. Grandson had the kid's menu hamburger with steak fries, and an apple juice box for $4.99. I had the $7.69 country dinner with grilled rainbow trout, Mac n cheese, baked sweet potato, and 2 corn muffins. We also bought a stuffed animal from the general store attached to the restaurant. The checkout counter is located in the general store and serves both the store and restaurant, making for long and confusing check out lines.

First time I've eaten at the Cracker Barrel and it was really good. The staff is really nice and polite and the food is really good too. It's like good home cooking your grandma used to make. The inside is pretty cute. You walk into a little shop area with candy and toys and little items like candles and sweaters. It's a really charming shop. At the back if this shop is where the restaurant starts. There's a cozy little fire place and you sit down at a little wooden kitchen table and it really does give you that 'eating at grandma's house' type of feeling. I like that they have some healthier options, like the ability to order a meal with all vegetables. Most of the stuff on their menu is definitely on the heavier side though. They have a lot if fried stuff. But you have to remember this is a comfort food restaurant and I think they do a perfect job in that regard. If you're looking for something fancy, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a hearty meal I think you should stop by here and give this place a chance. You'll really be impressed!!

The Cracker Barrel chain is an ingenious combination of shopping with eating. If you haven't been to one, you should know that ahead of the entrance to the restaurant is a country style general store that sells a wide variety of nostalgic candies and sweets along with a smattering of toys, local souvenirs and some clothing. It's actually a fun way to while away any waiting time before being seated for a meal. The food here is one-dimensional - pure comfort. Big country breakfasts served all day. Pot roast. Chicken and dumplings. Mac and cheese, Pork chops. You get my drift. And . . . it's all pretty darn good. . . a bit pricey, but rarely disappointing. If you like to shop and you're in need of good old familiar comfort food, you can't go wrong with any Cracker Barrel. This one is as good as any. Friendly and prompt service with good eats! Definitely a family place. No alcohol served here but plenty of thirst quenching soft drinks including strawberry lemonade. Good place for a day time gathering or Sunday breakfast after church. P.S. After that cake baker/maker in Colorado was court ordered to cast his religious beliefs aside in favor of serving a same sex couple, Cracker Barrel publicly announced that anyone who disagreed with that decision was not welcome at their restaurants. I only put my personal boycott of CB on hold because my grandson wanted breakfast for dinner and I really dislike IHOP.

It is always fun bringing my wife to a CB. This is our first time in Flagstaff CB but I think the foot print is exactly the same as Sioux Falls. The 4 Stars is probably due to the fact that we were working out some "issues"with our daughter who stayed home and my wife trying to get some shopping time. She wanted the fried chicken but ordered the chicken fried chicken, which I knew she would not be crazy for. My cod Friday special wad very good and my son's sampler was good too. The service was excellent and of course the wife was happy [you married guys know we need to accumulate dine Browning points]. She got to shop a little while I drank some iced tea and tried to prepare myself for the final leg of our trip to Flagstaff in the rain. Yeah white knuckles! Rumorville; there is talk that CA may finally get our own Cracker Barrel! Shhhhhh

Always happy coming to a Cracker Barrel. I got the Fish and chips. It was so crispy, moist, and flavorful for been frozen before. The chips where ok. I asked for a cobbler and it was 86 by the time of dessert. Service was great by Jesse.

Stopped by around 1 pm and we were seated right away and our server came immediately to take our drink order. She was very friendly and paid close attention to her tables. We ordered the Lemon Pepper Rainbow Trout with sides. The food came quick and tasted delicious, actually it's one of the best meals we had from Cracker Barrel while traveling the last 2 months and we always get the trout! The manager brought out our food when it was ready because our server was busy with another table. He was very pleasant and asked if we would like anything else. We enjoyed our meal immensely.

This is the first Cracker Barrel we had ever visited. I did not know that it was a chain restaurant. We do not have them in California. I thought that Cracker Barrel only made cheese. Happy to find out that I was wrong. My first thought was that they must have many cheese items on their menu. Well, they did not. I guess that Cracker Barrel cheese and Cracker Barrel Restaurant are not related? I don't know. The ambiance of the place is fun and relaxing. Most of the Cracker Barrel restaurants that we go to have awesome rocking chairs all lined up on their patio. Just can't resist having a seat after my meal to just chill and relax. The service that we've received on our two visits here has been really good. Southern hospitality at its finest. My water glass was never allowed to dry up. My favorite meal here is breakfast, and they serve breakfast all day long!!! Momma's Pancake Breakfast is my favorite order. It comes with 3 delicious buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, sausage patties, and thick slices of bacon! Oh so good, and the serving is very generous. I must not forget the Cracker Barrel Maple Syrup that comes with the order! It's a perfect complement to the buttermilk pancakes. My wife's favorite breakfast order is the Fresh Start Sampler. It includes yogurt topped with granola, two eggs, blueberry muffin, and either sausage or bacon. She loves it. We browsed through the shop after each visit. They sell many different items ranging from food to clothes and everything in between. In addition to buying their Cracker Barrel maple syrup, I also bought a box of Goo Goo Clusters. I do not often find that candy bar in California so when I ran across it here, I just had to buy it! My wife bought a couple of dresses for our twin nieces. Prices weren't bad either. I wish they had Cracker Barrel Restaurant in California. Oh well, at least I can always stop by this branch whenever we're in the neighborhood. By the way, I did not give them 5 stars because the lunch and dinner items that we've tried from their menu are not 5 stars worthy. Sorry. Fortunately, though...breakfast is served all day long!!!

Terrible experience last night. It was a Saturday so we expected busy, we expected to wait. That would've been fine. We were seated immediately, then waited about ten minutes for our waiter to get a drink order. We ordered our food at the same time. About five minutes for the drinks, no cream for the coffee or lemon for the water, both were requested when we ordered. Fifteen minutes, with multiple requests to the waiter, before those were brought. We'd now been sitting for thirty minutes. At the 45 minute mark, we finally managed to get the waiter's attention to check on our food. He went to the kitchen, came out to tell us the kitchen didn't have the ticket so they hadn't started on our order. We spoke to a manager as we were leaving who "graciously" offered to take care of our bill. What bill? Nothing ever went to the kitchen or came out... Needless to say, not a great CB experience. Flagstaff restaurants need to step it up- this is why we can't have nice things here. They get ruined.

I don't give out too many 5 stars but this location was exceptional today. Tea was excellent. Food was very good. House salad was far better than most places these days. And our waiter, Billy, was very good. The staff in the country store was very friendly as well. Kudos

Was yummy as everyone has raved in all the previous reviews. Our service was excellent. But I was disappointed in the biscuits due to the fact they were as hard as a rock and totally not edible. They seemed like they were left over from breakfast. Even the corn muffins were hard. Oh well everything else was awesome as usual.

Wow, usually I can give a place a decent rating for just average food, but todays breakfast was truly sub par. It came out quick but was cold. When I asked the waitress prior to ordering if the oatmeal had milk on it she said no, it was on the side. Yet when it arrived it was swimming in milk. When I asked her about getting it without milk she said "absolutely not" and walked off. So I could not eat it as I am allergic to milk. She was not only rude to me but was not nice to her coworkers. My husband said his eggs were cold and the bacon was soft and chewy - as if sitting under a heat lamp for a ling time. So won' t be back to this location again.

Dinner for three came to $31, so the price is right. Highly recommend their fried chicken breast dinner or roast beef dinner. The chicken fried steak and roast beef meat portions are not huge, but the 3 sides and biscuits n corn bread will fill. Typical Cracker Barrel ambiance and young wait staff worked hard on a busy Saturday night. But our orders still took about 30 minutes. We would return simply because the price is right.

Excellent service! Really amazing! Came in, sat down, ordered, ate. It was fast and friendly and the food was amazing. I had the oatmeal, scrambled eggs, and they have fresh blue and blackberries! The whole meal was amazing! My husband got his favorite... French toast and hashbrown casserole! He ate every single bite and loved it! They even offered coffee to go which was an awesome bonus! Thanks to Joe, our server!

Love the food, love the shop, loved the service. Brandan was our server and he gave us an amazing experience here. He gave excellent suggestions for food, constantly checked on how we were doing (but not too much), AND he offered to take our group picture. Seriously best server ever :) thank you for the wonderful hospitality. Will stop by whenever we come again. Oh, and I had the 12 oz steak and it was delishhhhhh :)

We visit fairly often and today was not good. The food seemed re- heated, my trout was way overdone and carrots were cold and watery. Husband's chicken fried steak also seemed old and microwaved, not freshly cooked. His pinto beans were mushy and dried out on top, maybe from a heat lamp? All in all very disappointing.

I don't know if I am a city girl or this place is for the poor people, but it was very nasty food. I had a BLT chicken sandwich and the chicken wasn't seasoned and very bland. I asked for grilled and it was deep fried. Very gross bun that had a weird taste to it and my fries very mushy like water was on my plate. Lettuce was stained and wasn't fresh either so I have no idea why people eat here. I'm shocked.

The food was just okay, portions were small. Over hard eggs had runny yolks so I sent the eggs back. A full 10 minutes later the manager a s ked how our meal was. Well still waiting for my eggs back and the apple butter by request only that I requested, I could use a second cup of coffee and some creamer. The server was very friendly and courteous but a horrible waiter. I ALWAYS leave a tip regardless but the service was so bad I didn't.

Please list ALL ingredients on the menu thus preventing diners being subjected to foodstuffs they cannot eat. Had some sort of chicken salad don't recall the exact name because they only have a half dozen different chixsalads. Did not want to gamble on anything potentially worse than that. Whereas my server was inattentive the management and hostesses were friendly & warm.

So I have basically heard about Cracker Barrel from my friends and family for some time now. The problem is that there are none in California and they are primarily in Arizona and New Mexico. Seeing as how my buddy and I decided to take a road trip we knew we would have to stop a t Cracker Barrel. Now location was very clean and a fun atmosphere, in order to get into the restaurant you will have to walk through their gift shop which has all kinds of cool stuff and more than likely you will end up buying something. We were greeted by nothing but smiles, when our server arrived nothing but smiles. this is a good sign already, smiles and clean. Being as it was lunch time we asked if they still served breakfast because both of us can enjoy breakfast anytime of day. We ended up having the Grandmas and the Country Boy both which by themselves would have driven us into a coma. We also added the fried apples and the Chicken Dumplings. The meal was great! I really like the dumplings. I don't know ho o describe the food other then worth the trip, although I would like to go back and try dinner or lunch. If you haven't tried Cracker Barrel and love comfort food I would give this place a shot.

THANK YOU, CRACKER BARREL!! I am from southern California and am unfamiliar with the Flagstaff area. I had family from the east coast coming into town, so while we were all there, we decided we wanted to throw my brother a surprise birthday party. Cracker Barrel is not permitted to make "official" reservations, but they were more than helpful with our arrangements by allowing me to call ahead and letting them know that we were coming. They had our tables ready to go when we walked in the door. They also accepted the delivery of a rather large birthday cake earlier in the day and kept it safe for us. They also served our cake to us and provided some of the best service I've ever experienced. Our waitress was delightful and the manager I dealt with was more than professional and accommodating. I am over the top pleased with this Cracker Barrel. I recommend them 100%.

Cracker Barrel is usually a family favorite but this morning we lost faith in their consistency. Each bite of our buttermilk pancakes tasted like oil! Yuck! Oh, and no toilet paper in the ladies bathroom during the breakfast hour...please return to your fluffy pancakes and stellar customer service!

Oh, soooo good! I know this is a chain, but I've been in love with this place ever since I drove cross country on vacation with my dad. This place has a nostalgic, old country feel, big servings and super friendly staff. We had breakfast (of course) - pancakes, eggs, bacon, grits, buscuits & gravy. Everything was good & we were hard presse to finish it all (I couldn't). The syrup for the pancakes was real maple & came in little bottles that were warmed. My son took his home as a souvenier (with syrup in it). My only complaint was that I asked for eggs over medium and they came to me over easy. Not a big problem, but I would have preferred my eggs done as I asked. Aside from that, everything was great. Be sure to check out the country store too. They have tons of neat stuff to look at, from food items (they sell their bacon, bread & ham) to games, clothing and souveniers. Really a fun place.

Cracker Barrel never disappoints. This midwestern girl is no stranger to the Cracker Barrel, but for the past 5 years that I have been living in California I have been having some serious withdrawals. I took a bus of high school students on college campus tours in Arizona for work, and as soon as I saw the Cracker Barrel I knew that I wanted to bless these 48 people on the bus with this experience. I called the restaurant 20 minutes in advance to give them a heads up on our large group. Vickie the manager was very helpful. They handled our group with ease and treated us with great service. The students and adult chaperones all seemed happy with the down-home cooking. We definitely will return to this spot if we are ever in this area again.

The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, the workers are polite, and the food is tasty and affordable. I personally like the country fried chicken the most (though it's crazy rich and filling), but the fried chicken salad is tasty enough to give me that fried chicken taste without consuming well over one thousand calories in one sitting. The dining area is a bit tight, but it is greatly decorated and gives me an old-time country feel. The store is nice to roam around in and before/after eating, and they have a great selection of old candies and other little knick knacks.

Our party of 4 ate here the other night. The service was excellent (that'd be 5 stars by itself). Everyone was pretty happy with the meal. Only issue, my chicken & dumplings was only lukewarm. Still tasted yummy though, just different than I was expecting. I guess everyone does this dish differently. I really liked the fried apples as a side, always yummy. Portions generous as always.

As Cracker Barrel Restaurants go, this location has excellent customer service and a well-stocked gift shop. I've come to expect both, though some locations do not measure up. My family and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, and we were seated immediately. The pancakes I had were tasty, though a little crispy. They came with warm maple syrup, and I think the warm temperature was a really nice touch. Their apple cider is to-die-for! I also love the biscuits! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The gift shop area has some great old-fashioned candy and knick-knacks you just can't get elsewhere. This is a great family restaurant that's worth a stop on your stay in Flagstaff. A great bargain too!

Kidnap someone, drug them and then drop them into the middle of a Cracker Barrel restaurant and then tell them that they have one minute to tell you what city they were in or you'll make them eat there. No way will they be able to avoid the bland tasteless food served, Southern Style. Of course, Teenager from Hell 2 loves Cracker Barrel and just had to eat there. The fun part was finding the place. I am the navigator on long trips and rely on Jane, our GPS system name by TfH2, to get us there. This was the first evening of our two week trip to St. Louis and back, and couldn't start on a more ominous note. We stopped at the Best Western of Flagstaff, AZ, before going out to eat. Coming in Jane took us off the freeway and took us past the U of A, Flagstaff, which is a very beautiful campus. But, the path Jane was taking us on look like it would end in a parking lot. SWMBO said, "Is she on quickest or shortest?" "Uhm...She is on shortest." However, Jane got us to a main road and onto Route 66 and the hotel. We ask the clerk at the BW where we should eat for dinner and he said he was going to college and had no clue." DOH! "Lots of places downtown." So we drove around downtown Flagstaff and each place I pointed out got vetoed, like usual. Then TfH2 uttered the dreaded words, "Is there a Cracker Barrel in Flagstaff?" "No," I offered. "Ask Jane." So, I put the info into Jane and told it to find the dump. Following the directions given, we turned on the correct street and were told, "Approaching address on left." Unfortunately, there was a freeway on the left. We kept looking for the Cracker Barrel for two blocks and then came to the end of the street, which turned into the freeway entrance. We ended up back in downtown Flagstaff and SWMBO said, "Well, call the restaurant." So, I got the number from Jane (good for something's) and called the restaurant. "We are trying to find your restaurant, but our GPS system says you're in the middle of the freeway. How do we get to you?" I told the sweet young thing that answered. "Well, where are you?" I said we are in the parking lot of Sam's Club (another thing that Jane keeps screwing up when you want it to find the local Wal-Mart.) "Okay, come under the freeway and we're behind the gas station next to the Denny's." We go under the freeway, see the Denny's and the gas station. Drive up the street behind the gas station and there is not a Cracker Barrel. "Well, it doesn't exist. Let's go find something else." I venture. "Shut up and call them back," SWMBO says. "Hey! We're behind the gas station next to the Denny's. Are you sure you exist?" SWMBO sneers, "Quit being an ass." (This is the start of the trip remember.) "Okay, we're behind the gas station behind Denny's and no Cracker Barrel." "Hold on please." I hear heated whispering. "They can't seem to find us...there by the Denny's. Where are we? Okay. Sir? If you go out the driveway and make a left, you should run into us." So, finally we arrive at Cracker Barrel (whoopee.) We enter the Cracker Barrel and have dreaded flashbacks of the other 15 Cracker Barrels I have been forced to endure. All sorts of wonderful trinkets and crap, plus lots of candies I am not allowed to eat. I hurry my lot over to the hostess stand, so they won't have time to look at anything and get seated. Walk into any Cracker Barrel and the menu is always the same. Blah, boring items to remind you of the boring South. I had the chicken and dumplings, figured this was the cement that was left over from building the latest Cracker Barrel. The fried okra was okay and the steamed vegetables were recognizable. Of course, SWMBO enjoyed her Grilled CHICKEN Tenderloin with fried okra and fried apples. TfH2 had her usual pasta with Macaroni n' Cheese and Hashbrown Casserole. Gag. Luckily, we managed to miss every other Cracker Barrel on the trip, but will likely be forced to go there when we finally take TfH2 to college.

After hearing many wonderful stories of CB from friends, we had to try this out. We imagined that there would be real fried chicken and other good down-home food....but, oddly enough, no real fried chicken...just fried chicken breast and chicken tenders. We ordered two orders of chicken and dumplings, a chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken. The chicken and dumplings was unlike anything we ever had... instead of being biscuit-like, the dumplings were flat, bland, and more like some kind of poorly-cooked asian dumpling (like the coating off a potsticker) in a very bland, cornstarchy sauce. The mashed potatoes and gravy were cold and hard. The fried okra might have been good if it was hot. The only way to add flavor to the chicken was to ask for some cranberry sauce. The chicken fried steak was cold and gristly...I took several stabs but couldn't find the edible meat parts. The chicken fried steak plate was cold and even the gravy was gelatinous. The only good thing and arrived hot were the biscuits...it would've been nice if we were offered honey or preserves, but we had to ask. The service was pretty good and the waiter did offer to take one of the dinners off the check. Our GPS was confused about getting to this place and took us to Denny's up the street first...I wished we gave up and went there instead! On Lucky Lane...more like unLucky Lane! Someone please explain to me why CB is so popular around the country? Are we spoiled with Roscoe's and Knott's Chicken dinners here in Los Angeles?
