With so many Thai options to choose from in Flagstaff (who knew!) we settled on Swaddee based on other Yelp reviews. They were not kidding when they say authentic Thai. The boyfriend order Pad Thai, which was incredibly good and I orderd the green curry. I have had green curry before and been disappointed when it lacked flavor and spice. Not so at Swaddee. The green curry had a spicy kick to it, just like green curry should and was wonderfully flavored. Would recommend both these items!

This place makes me addicted to Thai food. I love the Tom Ka soup and spicy basil. Wait staff are so nice, friendly and cute. Even people in Kitchen will smile to you. The price is very fair and real large portion.

Not too loud, not crowded seating, reasonably priced and good portions. Basil beef at a 4 had good spice. Will definitely go back.

This little hole in the wall spot was perfect for our family of four Valentines dinner away from home! Service was excellent, our food came quick and everything was delicious! My red curry chicken was the perfect amount of Hottt (level 4 of 5), sweet and sour chicken was light and crunchy, not fried too hard. The shrimp chow mein was a little salty for me but, the shrimp were cooked perfectly. If you like Thai food or just looking to try something different, I highly recommend Swadee Thai!!

Best Thai food I've had in a long time. Tom kha is the absolute best especially there. Service was so so at the beginning but picked up and everyone was on top of helping. Would definitely go back when we visit again!

My friend and I went to Swadee and we enjoyed the food there. The yellow curry is not as thick as the one that is in Pato Thai, which is a Thai restaurant in its vicinity. I found the food very delicious and tasty but very heavily flavored. The first bites were absolutely wonderful but and the last few bites were almost unbelievably heavy. I did love the environment, which is very Thai. I would suggest to go to Pato Thai instead of this one. And also - tip: you got 10% off if you pay in cash.

We go visit the other location in Scottsdale- hands down best Thai food. We ordered the garlic basil shrimp, spicy fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and the tom yum soup- .com

  • Muerto D.

Incredible Thai I had the yellow veg curry, the satay, pad Thai and Tum Yum more than enough for 2 people! Our server took our spicy food down a notch and the Thai ice teas are huge.

The Roasted Duck is the best in AZ! Also Tom Ka soup is kinda freakin' awesome. Still I can't seem to hit on mango season for Mango Sweet Sticky rice dessert! Highly recommend.

Ordered the phad thai and green chicken curry. It arrived in less than 10mins. Curry was very tasty but slightly watery. Phad thai tasted and came in a good portion. Staff were extremely friendly efficient. I'll be coming back again to trynl other items on the menu.

This is a great place to grab an inexpensive lunch with a starter salad and a little egg roll. The lunch menu offers ~15 items and all are ~$8 and the portions are enough to fill you up without putting you into an afternoon coma. I'm not that adventurous when it comes to Thai food, but the noodle dishes and the garlic with meat dish are tasty. The heat index is more consistent than other places but a 4 is usually a nice kick in the mouth without ruining the dish. This is my favorite downtown Thai, and in a tie for top honors out of all 5 of the saturated Flagstaff Thai food scene. The wait staff has always been friendly and the service has been fast during lunch time, although I'm usually there after the noon rush.

excellent food, picked based on a hotel catalog ad. cashew chicken and chicken eggplant are very tasty (3 and 4 spicy, respectively). on par with done of the best Thai restaurants in the sf bay area

  • Matt J.

This has to be the best Thai food in the USA. Been to many and every time I come here I can't stop eating. So worth the 2 hour drive from Phoenix.

  • Wana A.

Nice cozy and intimate restaurant in Flagstaff that serves good Thai food. There was a bit of a line since it was one of the very few restaurants open on Christmas. Friendly staff. Ordered the large tom yum soup to share. Tasted alright. I've had better coming from Southeast Asia. Friends ordered the fried rice, which came in a pretty decent portion. Should definitely stop by if you're in the area.

We travel the country and often eat Thai. This place ranks with any good Seattle place. Authentic and delicious!

  • Martina G.

The best Thai food I've had since I was a poor college kid backpacking in Chang Mai. We decided to try this place because of its high rating on Yelp. It did not disappoint. The curries, wonton soup and pad thai were fantastic. Order the mango and sticky rice for dessert... it is simply amazing. Service was friendly and attentive.

  • Mark B.

Went here because I wanted something spicy. This place got four stars I do not know why. Anyone who has had real Thai would think this is just stip mall wok Thai. poor flavors. Got spicy eggplant which was tolerable. Ate it only because it was 8 pm and I was tired and hungry. Place was dirty and people unfriendly. Do not go here. Try something else. Italian in the city is better.

  • Amanda C.

We went here because the other popular thai place had a 25 minute wait! We went over to this place (across the street) and they sat us immediately. Were really attentive and really great food!

    (5)
  • Jenni G.

Just ok. We had fresh rolls, spicy noodles with beef, pad Thai with tofu. Thai House in Prescott and Thai Palace in Sedona & Cottonwood have better flavors. Staff was nice at least.

Visiting Flagstaff, and was prowling the net for delivery options. I was skeptical at first, but gave it a try based on the reviews. This place was great. Big portions, FRESH, and delivered on time. Score!

My hubby & I just relocated and were craving some good Thai food. Swaddee was excellent their version of spicy noodles (drunken noodles) was spot on and delicious. Thai Iced Tea was large and refreshing. We haven't tried the other Thai places in town yet but glad we went here first. We will be back. The bbq chicken was excellent as well.

Looks can be VERY deceiving . I know Thai food & this isn't it . I stopped by this place because I was in town with my aunt, her fiancé, & my boyfriend . The Tom Yum Soup was probably the best thing there & it was okay .. I order PadSeeEw Beef & the beef did not look very appealing . So I left them to the side of my plate & ate the noodles, they were okay . My aunt then asked why I didn't touch my meat & she tried it & instantly got sick! Which ruined her whole trip to flagstaff . We've read good reviews by our fellow yelpers & decided to give it a try . One mistakes we won't make again!

Awesome food. I'm no expert on Thai cuisine, but every time I go here I leave happy and full.

Get the Thai toast and veggie rolls for apps! Yummo! This place does Thai food well. I even went in 5 minutes before closing, sorry hahaha, but was surprised to be accommodated by an energetic staff, good timing on entrees, and an overall fulfilling experience. BOOM, go here.

A very pleasant restaurant. quite authentic Thai food. Nice service. Fair prices. Probably among the best non-fast-food restaurants in Flagstaff!

  • Tovah L.

Favorite Thai food in Flag. The Tom Ka soup is phenomenal, and served in a bowl with a fire in the middle of it. Have also tried several different entrees, and all of them were amazing. Service is always really good, too.

Good thai food and they deliver which is the best :)

  • Tressa M.

BEST THAI IN FLAGSTAFF! I admit I haven't tried the two new places that have popped up, but this one is the most authentic that I have tried. They actually stick to their heat scale here and it's the only place in Flagstaff that I cannot order Thai hot. I've tried many things on the menu and I have been pleased with everything thus far. Visiting again!

I used to live off Birch Ave in downtown Flagstaff and one of the best things about my address was the proximity to Swadee Thai. This place is amazing. I've since moved to Phoenix and can't find anything that compares. They have a great satay and their peanut and cucumber sauces literally can not be beat. You should order the sampler appetizer. Of the three main Thai places in town, Swadee Thai is my favorite. The only dish I've ordered here that I wasn't a huge fan of was the Coconut Princess because of the strong Lemongrass flavors. The Pad Thai is awesome. Service & atmosphere are great. I miss this place.

After seeing all the great reviews, my hubby and I decided to eat here for a late dinner on a Saturday night. We have a couple of favorite spots in Tempe and Gilbert that we go to regurlarly so we aren't new to Thai food. The decor is very nice and the restaurant looks clean. The service is very fast. For us, however, the food and drinks were terrible. The Thai iced tea tasted as though they had dumpped a bunch of sugar in it...way too sweet. The Tom Kha was ordered with tofu but they went overboard with the amount. There was way too much tofu added and this was the worst Tom Kha I've had. My husband ordered the panang curry, his favorite curry, and it was so bland, he couldn't finish his meal. I ordered the veggie noodles and while they were okay, they were also a bit bland. Neither one of us finished our food. After we left, my husband was sick to his stomach, was bloated, and felt like throwing up. Our guess is that the panang curry is to blame since it was the only item I didn't try. We definitely won't be returning or recommending this place.

  • Grace G.

I have been to Thailand and the food was comparable. I did enjoy the soup and salad but the main dish of garlic chicken was okay. I like the decor of the place and the location kind of reminds me of "the hole in the wall" that can surprise for a diamond in the rough. Prices at lunch were great and the staff was fantastic.

Visiting Flagstaff for the first time. Decided on Thai food and found Swaddee. Had the Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup. Favor was very good with both items. My only complaint, and it's pretty minor is that the Pad Thai is a chicken and shrimp plate, which only had 2 shrimp and a lot of chicken. Guess I would have liked to see a minimum of 3 or 4 shrimp. Picky picky right? I'll for sure go back again. Thanks Yelpers

I'm a big fan of Thai food- spent most of my life in the SF Bay Area and have eaten in countless Thai places, have eaten my way through Thailand and...I was more than disappointed in the lunch I had today. I ordered the Thai BBQ chicken. It was definitely not cooked fresh today nor was it even BBQ'd. It was old-and-reheated tasting, dry (even the dark meat) and tasteless. It was served with a drizzle of coconut milk on it (I've never-ever seen that) and a small dish of Mae Ploy (sweet chili/garlic sauce). It was insulting to Thai food everywhere. I'm always sorry to give a bad review to a small place, but the food truly was bad. The server was very nice and accommodating when I asked for fresh cilantro.

Good food, terrible service: waitress barely understand English and gives you attitude when you correct her mistakes. Do no accept AmEx..

  • Row Bear F.

Delicious food and the fastest and most professional customer service experience ever. Their flavors are much closer to what you get in Thailand than in the US; if you want authentic, this place is super solid.

  • Alissa O.

Beautiful atmosphere and friendly wait staff. I got the green curry - it's my favorite and I sample it at every thai restaurant to find the best. This green curry was not the best I've tasted, but it was decent. The flavor lacked depth, but the veggies were well cooked. The rice wasn't sticky enough for me, and I always like a larger serving of it. Overall, not a disappointing experience, but not a dazzling one either.

Went here for take-out on our weekend trip to Flagstaff. Quick service, friendly staff, delicious food. We had the vegetables with tofu and the tom yum soup with chicken. We came here versus the other Thai place in town based on the rec. of a local in a wine shop nearby. Be advised the address is 115 East Aspen Ave NOT West Aspen.

  • Kaye H.

I absolutely love Thai food. The food here was great, I refused to quit eating. I had the Panang curry. It was awesome but I wish it had veggies in it. Large portions that I will be paying for in the morning and the server was very different but I loved it...try the Thai tea!

  • Nicole F.

The service was excellent and so was the food. My friends and I were just passing through the area on a road trip and wanted Asian. We decided to eat at Swaddee because the Thai place across the street had a 45 minute wait. We are SO glad we found this place because although the other place was more crowded and obviously more popular, the atmosphere here was far more authentic and welcoming! Highly recommended.

The food is damn good! Always come early, the table is always full! Nice service, friendly, and the price is normal! Definitely will be back next time!!

Very good meal. The Gyoza chicken and veg.were great. The Pad Thai was tasty and generous amount. The Princes chicken in coconut milk was good, but had a little too much Lemmon grass flavor for our taste. We would definitely dine here again. Good service.

  • Travis T.

I had the Pad Thai, and it was sweeter than any other place I have tasted. I really enjoyed it! However, I'm not a big fan of my Pad Thai being spicy (medium at the most).

I've been in Flagstaff for three days, and just about all the food I've had has been the same: Mediocre and overpriced. I was overjoyed to find Swaddee in a search for Thai food. I have a favorite Thai restaurant back home in Austin that is just marvelous, and so the bar was set pretty high. I have to say that my meal at Swaddee tonight was just absolutely beautiful. The place is very nicely decorated, the staff are all extemely friendly and courteous (and Thai...always the best sign). I had the fresh veggie rolls for appetizer, and they were superb...they rivalled the "spring rolls" I'm used to at home. Just marvelous, very nicely presented, too. For my entree I chose the "Spicy Basil" with pork, 3-peppers worth of heat. Another just stunningly good dish. The black bean sauce was perfect. The veggies in the dish were all very fresh, and they used plenty of basil. It was truly beautiful food. Also had a nice pot of hot jasmine tea with the meal, and the perfect way to top it all off? A tall and frosty Thai coffee, in an old-fashioned soda-fountain style glass. I wish these folks the best of luck. They are making beautiful Thai food, and are doin' it RIGHT!

Wow is this place fast! I had satay, pad thai and thai iced tea. It was on my table within five minutes of ordering. I ordered the pad thai with medium spice. It was pretty mild and I would go hotter next time. Service here was friendly and very fast. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. The front portion of the restaurant features some exposed brick as if to celebrate this old building while the rest of the dining area is modern and tastefully decorated. Of the three Thai restaurants I have tried in Flag I put Swadee in the middle. Well above Little Thai Kitchen and a close second to Pa To Thai which is in the Hotel Monte Vista just up the block.

My friends and I were at a conference in Flagstaff and really wanted to try restaurants that we can't really find in our area in Phoenix. Swaddee is one that we actually stumbled on after leaving another Thai restaurant just down that street that wouldn't let us split our bills. Boy am I glad we ended up here! I ordered Pad Won Sen (#52) and ordered it as a 2 on their spicy scale. It was the best Pad Won Sen I have had yet to date. I'm not sure if it was the spicy part that added the awesome flavor, but I have tried Pad Won Sen at 2 other Thai restaurants since and have only had a bland dish instead. :( I have been craving #52 ever since we left Flagstaff a month ago. What's even better is, as I was adding Swaddee to Yelp, I found out they have one in the valley...yes, it is miles and miles and miles away from me, but I will most definitely head out that way to have more Pad Won Sen when I get the chance. The service was really great and my other 5 friends also really loved their dishes. We all left talking about how much we enjoyed our dinner and how we were all glad to have stumbled upon it.

This is the first review I get to write that contains my amazing boyfriend. I'll try to not let that influence my review of the restaurant. Before heading out to hunt for food, I stalked Yelp (like a good nerd) for the best Thai food in Flag. Swadee Thai had the most consistently positive reviews so we set off. On a journey. For spicy curry. A little too excited, I saw the Pato Thai sign and assumed it was what I was looking for. It was packed when we walked in, and we were told there would be a 20 minute wait. Luckily for my stomach, my boyfriend was 100% intent on catching an early movie so we left to look for another place to eat... and stumbled onto the actual restaurant we originally set out for. Mega glorious case of serendipity. Swadee Thai was blissfully empty (not always a good sign, but meh) and, I swear to the heavens above, no more than eight minutes after we left Pato Thai we were being served our meals. Our delicious, perfectly spiced green curry and pad thai. Like other people have mentioned, the service wasn't stellar. It was super fast and efficient, though, and I am a sucker for awkward servers. Always. Quick side note: My boyfriend was terribly confused about why he was given an extra plate with his pad thai. We still don't know why. Huh.

Excellent Thai food - and (pardon my prejudice) completely unexpected in Flagstaff. My wife and I shared (or shall we say wolfed down) chicken satay, larb and spicy noodles and left very happy with the tasty food, nice service and reasonable prices. Our dinner here was the perfect ending to a long day on the road.

Coming fro the Bay Area, I feel that I have enough Thai experience to say this Swadee is LEGIT. This place is seriously good. Especially if you love hot food. The cooks at Swadee are not afraid to pump up the spice if you like the challenge of a level 5. You should definitely start with a soup. They are all really good and a fun family activity to begin the meal. Also be sure to order hot tea - their brewing method is awesome. I am vegetarian, so I got a noodle dish and it was delicious. The curries are also great. It's hard to find a restaurant this good in Flagstaff, so if you take food seriously, give Swadee a visit! And don't forget to order dessert! Everything on the menu is awesome, but my favorite is the homemade coconut ice cream.

Good Service, food was OK. Nothing to be wow about. I just think most Thai in Flag is TOO SWEET!!! The aces did not have any depth to them. This place is one of them. Overall a good experience but I prefer the other places better. I will try once more to make an educated decision on the food. Oh but one thing that was a no no for me was warm beer!!!

The best Thai restaurant ever. Food is delicious, big portions. This place is clean and the staff is very friendly.

Let me say this first: I love hot food. Unfortunately, I can count on one hand the number of times that I've encountered a restaurant that really knows how to turn on the heat. Swaddee Thai is one of those restaurants. By default, the food isn't overwhelmingly hot. I eat at Swadee a few times per month, and my friends and co-workers have never said that the food is too hot. But they can spice it up -- if you ask. Here's a tip: When they ask how hot you want the food on a scale of 1-5, tell them 10. Or 20. They will make it that way. Moving beyond the heat, the food is really good. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The food (especially the lunch specials) is reasonably priced, and the place is always busy (a good sign). My favorite dishes are the Spicy Eggplant and the Red Curry. The eggplant is tender and the curry isn't overdone with coconut milk.

  • Tim T.

This place is better than the other Thai place I've visited in the downtown Flagstaff area. Food and decor influenced by the Northern region of Thailand.

    (4)
  • Mindy P.

I was surprisingly impressed by the Thai food here. I have to be honest, I found it challenging to find good restaurants in Flagstaff during my stay but this was one place that stuck because the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the mango sticky rice!

    (4)
  • Heather H.

Great Thai dishes! I had the green curry at a #3/4 heat level and it was fantastic! One of the best I've ever had. Also had the chicken satay for an app and it was a let down for the price paid. 4 chicken skewers for $7.95- BIG mistake. The service wasn't great, I didnt see her smile once to anyone the entire time that we were there and it was an act of congress to get our drinks refilled. 4 stars just because the food was very very good.

  • Alyssa M.

We were in Flagstaff snowboarding and in need of a good hot meal. We came across Swaddee because it was close to our hotel. As we were seated there was a loud obnoxious noise coming from the back. I thought to myself I was too tired and exhausted for something like this. The noise continued for about 10 minutes before it stopped. My annoyance lingered but as soon as I took my first bite all was forgotten. The food was amazing. As tired, exhausted, and full as I was I could not stop eating! Try: Won Ton Soup, Pad Thai, and Red Vegetable Curry with Tofu

  • Andrea S.

Haven't had Thai food in years, so we were hoping that our experience would be as good as we remember another place in California. I'm not sure if it's just us and not having other Thai places to compare to, but the food itself was "ok". And I had the Pad Thai that everyone here raves about. The service was great and our waiter was super attentive. Not sure that we'll return, but that's only because maybe we're not Thai fans after all. We love Delhi Palace - the Indian Place - so we're not afraid of spicy food. I'm sure if you're a Thai lover, that Swaddee Thai won't disappoint.

    (4)
  • Sarah Y.

Okay food and service, but nothing special. The sauces are not nearly as flavorful as one would expect from Thai food. I would not call the food from Swadee bad, it is just somewhat bland. If I am craving Thai food in Flagstaff, I will always go to Bangkok Thai Cafe.

    (3)
  • Heather G.

Always crowded but worth the short wait! Food is Delicious, fast & plentiful!! You also get to chose your heat preference from 1-5 ...it makes all the difference with Thai! Favorites: coconut curry soup & spicy fried rice - you can add chicken or shrimp!

    (5)
  • Alisha D.

I was in the area, and craving thai food. This place didn't disappoint, but was a little on the pricey side. The staff wasn't very friendly, and it took forever to get my check.

We went to Swadee based on the stellar yelp reviews, and were really disappointed. The service was pretty bad--sloppy, slow, and inconsiderate. After spilling water on the table our waiter asked for order without blinking an eye or wiping up the mess. Everything seemed a chore to our server and we were pretty low key, ordered straight off the menu, and there were only two other tables going at the time. The food was uneven. Traveling with two young kids we chose middle of the road, standard Thai fare that we know our kids will eat--Pad Thai and Pad See Eww [spelling?] and we started with vegetable rolls. The rolls were oddly cool in the middle. The main dishes were disappointing. The Pad Thai was to have shrimp-we had exactly two shrimp in our meal. The Pad See Eww was gummy, bland, and not edible. The waiter never checked on us or offered us a refill on our drinks. When we asked for bowls of rice he acted as if it was a personal hardship. It is advertised on the menu as coming with each dish--it shouldn't be a hardship to give us a bowl of rice. We were really bummed--we have been on the road for weeks using yelp for our meals and places to stay and this is one of only two bad experiences. In this case the reviews made the place seem so promising. The best thing that I can say about the place, is that we really liked the funky decor.

Lovely Pad Thai and spring rolls. The food is prepared amazingly fast and was very tasty!

    (4)
  • Daniel G.

Attractive Thai decor. Pad Won Sen delighted with colors, textures, and flavors. Coconut Princess was good but too monochromatic in color & flavor-- I would only get it with others as a meat (or tofu) dish, since that's all it is (hardly any mushrooms). They have two HD TVs playing Asian programs, and they have free WiFi. The restaurant is quiet. After eating there, we walked by Pato Thai to see what it was like. It was bright and noisy. White waitresses. Used to be Racha Thai. Glad we chose Swaddee! "Swaddee / How I love ya / How I love ya / My dear old Swaddee!"

  • A. J.

When we arrived, we were greeted immediately, then.....crickets. They were not busy, yet no one came, no water, nada. We were getting ready to leave when the waitress came by. We ordered the gyoza for an appetizer, and within 5 minutes our entrees had arrived as well. All of it was great. I like that the veggies are still cooked but crunchy too. I had the yellow curry, spice level 3 out of 5, and this white girl couldn't have handled any more heat. Anyway, it was great, which is why I increased my rating from 3 stars to 4.

This is my new "go-to" place for Thai food. Hubby and I both ordered our food with three chilis and it was perfect. A nice spice kick but didn't need to reach for the ice water. Had the Tom Ka soup. This could be the best soup I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Loaded with chicken and fresh veggies and a great balance of hot and sour. The addition of coconut milk added a delicious richness. My Duck Curry was delicious as was hubby's Spicy Noodles with chicken. Two very different dishes with very different flavors. Both were delish! Friendly service, clean restaurant. Definitely going back.

We were in Flagstaff after going to the grand canyon, and I know a small town like flagstaff will tend to not offer a variety type of foods. The food here is awful, and I am saying this based on a small town perspective of thai or any other non pizza or hamburger type of food. The prices were ridiculous, a fried rice for 10.95 and other entrees the same. Rice was too wet and sticky, the vegetables are not real vegetables that thai people uses in their fried rice, they just got it from some frozen vegetable bag likely. Pad Thai, a staple of thai cuisine was wet and the noodles were sticky, It was red, I don't know what kind of sauce they used but definitely not peanut sauce. We could not even eat more than 2 bites. The pad-sew , another staple was dried, no flavor, did not use dark soy sauce I can tell. The broccoli was not the chinese type but that is okay but it was just bland and dried. We wasted 50.00 including tip on a lunch that was just tastless. I do not know if the other reviewers here have much experience with thai food but I can tell you I would totally avoid this place. Maybe it is Flagstaff but bad food is bad food.

I was here a few weekends ago with 6 of my good friends, we were in Flagstaff for the weekend for some skiing. We walked in at around 7:30PM on a Friday night and they had no problem seating our entire party after a short 5-10 min wait. The service was on point the whole time. We were in and out of there in under an hour for 7 people! They were on top of everything from drinks to food (which came out in under 15 minutes from ordering) to napkins to the check. The food was surprisingly tasty all around and we ordered a very wide array of dishes - curries, noodles, veggies, etc. The dishes were honestly kind of spicy! I do like my food spicy, especially my Thai, but we were going out bar hopping that night so I didn't want to start my stomach off with indigestion. Most of the party ordered a 3/5 and my wife who doesn't like spice ordered a 2/5 and we were all shocked at the spice level, falsely assuming that they would tone it down for us white folks.

Visited Flagstaff for the first time and this restaurant was recommended by a friend. I haven't expected much, however, the food was nice. I had red curry with chicken and it actually tasted good.

I've had terrible experience with Swadee. I came with no expectations, but lunch was sub-par and took 1.5 hrs for 2. The service was really slow. On another date I stood at the entrance with another party of 2 in front of us and waited 15 minutes before deciding to leave 5 minutes after the party in front of us left, we weren't even acknowledged by the staff. Very disappointing twice. Update: Went there again, could not convince the party to go somewhere else. It was impossible to order another round of beer. Also I ordered 5 hot. They asked "are you sure"? I replied "Yes, please make it hot". It came as a 2, I had to shake about 4 table spoons of dry chili pepper to increase the heat to an expectable level.

Happens to be the best of the three Thai places in this three block radius, if only by a hair. I just need to find a local Flagstaffian that agrees with me.

Not bad. One dish was the fried pineapple/shirmp rice that I felt was a bit hard.

When I have board meetings in Flagstaff for work it always means one savory dinner at Swadee Thai. Our whole board goes after a looong Wednesday night meeting and the people at Swadee really take care of us. The food can get very very spicy...they have a range of 0-5 for each dish...but always warn that 3 is super hot (and it is). I definitely recommend the vegetable rolls and fried dumplings to start. There's lots of interesting things to order, from things usually found at Thai fare (like a really good pad thai) to some more exotic seeming soups. Swadee Thai is definitely a crowd pleaser and a good spot to start the night in Flagstaff.

Fourth of July weekend and 3 days of binge drinking, me and my girlfriend were looking for some spicy Thai relief. This was great, excellent green curry and phad thai. Wish my server had a little more slant in his eye but thats ok. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Best place for Thai in flagstaff! Food, Service and Atmosphere five stars! Prices - $$

This was probably the worst thai dinner I have ever had. I love thai food and so does my boyfriend. This place was pretty bad. We were both craving pad thai and I also ordered Tom Ka soup. The cool thing here is that they ask you what level of spiciness you would like on a scale of 1-5. The bad thing was everything else. Tom Ka had an odd aftertaste to it which I loathed. Maybe someone would like it, but having tried many thai soups before i knew that this soup was odd... My boyfriend called his pad thai as average. I called mine a "trip to the bathroom is imminent." Everything had an aftertaste which was unpleasant. The only thing I chowed down was the egg roll... the drinks. Wow, the drinks. We ordered thai tea and thai coffee. We were aware that both are served sweet. Well, we were not prepared for this level of sweetness. When I drank it it was like swigging sugar syrup which coated my entire mouth, tongue, and throat. There was no escape from it. It made me shudder... Now let me backtrack a bit and tell you that I am the queen of sweets. No sweets are able to stay in my house for too long, because they migrate into my belly. I love sweets and my boyfriend affectionately calls me a (insert a name of a sweet here) muncher all the time. That thai coffee was an entirely new level of sweetness that I have never experienced before. I felt like I was being drowned in sugar. Apparently my boyfriend thought the same of his thai tea because he could not get past that one initial swig as well. Oh well. Crossing this restaurant off our list and probably won't be back there.

Great location on the edge of downtown flagstaff: near stuff, but it's somewhat easier to get parking near here than in the central areas. I've eaten here only once but it was without a doubt the best Thai meal I have ever had. I ordered Tom Yum w/ shrimp, which was excellent: rich flavors, and spicy, and the green curry w/ chicken, which was absolutely extraordinary: the vegetables and meat were very fresh and high quality, and the sauce was rich without being heavy, and was spicy and flavorful while still being subtle and balanced. The service was very good. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place. It is rare that I am this impressed with Thai food--the vast majority of it in the U.S. tends to be both generic and overpriced. This place is not super cheap, but considering how good it is, the value for your money is excellent.

Nice ambiance, quick service, large portions that are tastefully prepared. Peanut dressing on salad was watery or perhaps lettuce was not dried so salad was watery and tasteless. No extra charge for brown rice which is a positive.

I have not found better Thai in Flag... yet. This place is top notch and great for a group of 6-10 to order a variety and share. We had a group of 11 on a cold rainy day, spice and deliciousness everywhere. I am sorry I don't remember everything because i only ordered my dish. All were very good!

I'm in love. Swaddee might be my new favorite restaurant in Flag. Clean, friendly service, nice design, and delicious food. I was completely impressed. We had the combo platter as an appetizer and I had the Beef Panang. I ordered it as a 4 out of 5 on the 'heat' meter, which was just perfect. I love hot food, and I think it was bit on the 'cool' side, but it really didn't matter. The panang and thai iced tea were perfect. Good stuff!

  • Dean D.

This place is really good, but come here for lunch. It's cheaper and you can get a really substantive meal. They do tend to knock down the spice, so if you want hot ask them for hot otherwise they'll underhand the pitch towards the heat-meter. It might be hard to find, but look for the Monte Vista Hotel and look across the street.

After a full day of skiing we were craving the spicy satisfaction of Thai food; in particular, some Tom Yum Soup. The soup was the best part of the meal, flavorful with some spicy kick. The main dishes were just so-so. I ordered my chicken dish with a "4 out of 5" spice level. It was hardly spicy at all (at least to me). I would recommend that if you want true thai spice levels, you drive your point home, as they have obviously toned things down to local tolerance levels. When I say I want "4 out of 5," I'm expecting to be in a little pain.

This is really delicious! Coming from the Bay Area where there are a higher concentration of Foodies and Yelpers than anywhere in the world, Swaddee really nailed it! I travel regularly, and this is simply great Thai food. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The chicken tom yum soup was soooo flavorful and the lemongrass shoots were so crisp! I got the basil chicken and asked them to add cashews, and it was amazing! Love the spiciness rating, and it seemed to be consistent from dish to dish. I came in w/a party of 6, all from the Bay, and we were all super-satisfied. I will def be back when I'm back in town.

We waited a short 5-10 minutes to be seated, but once we were sat, we waited another 15 minutes to order, which sucked cause we'd been walking and hiking all day. Three different servers set our table with plates, napkins, water, and menus, and in between cleared tables and waited on others, while we watched them run around. Yes, they were busy, but we were thirsty and hungry. We would have been happy if we'd been able to order drinks and then waited for our order to be taken. Our order was finally taken and we got the green curry, red curry, and pad se iew with tofu. When the waitress asked how spicy we wanted our food we went for 3 and 4. In LA, a 3 is never very spicy, but my friends had a very difficult time finishing their food. I ordered the number 4 yellow curry and was also surprised by just how spicy it was. They mean business! The Thai beers we ordered definitely helped cool things down, but be forewarned: order low on the spice scale. Veggie and vegan friendly. Interesting decor. Busy dinner rush. Slow service, fast food.

I love this place... they are always friendly, SUPER fast, and they're not afraid to make you sweat with spice if that's what you're into. They have a nice ambiance as well... consider me a fan.

My dad and I were attracted to this restaurant and decided to take a chance on it. We ordered hot tea, wonton soup (which was particularly tasty), pad se iew (yummy as well), and chicken yellow curry (good but kinda average). We were impressed with the tea maker, the decor and music, and the Thai video depicting scenes of nature. Overall, it was very nice and we'd go back again.

Order online from Twin Arrows hotel. Pick up in 30 minutes. It's in down town, so parking is a hassle The prices are similar to Utah Thai's food

Overall I thought it was pretty good. Service was prompt and friendly.. We ordered the Pad See Ewe, Green Curry, and the Coconut Princess. I would say the Coconut Princess was my favorite. Slight amount of spice was just right. Pad See Ewe was good as well. We got the Green Curry with beef; however, I'd recommend chicken. Nice atmosphere, I will continue to come back

I am not normally the type of person who takes pictures of my food, but this place does such a nice job of presentation that I was tempted. The taste equalled the presentation. Everything was very flavorful, though not particularly hot (spice, not temperature). I ordered medium (3) and it was more like a 1. Everybody's scale is different, I guess, but now I know. Portion size was perfect. At first I was a little disappointed. We had a hard day hiking and I was starved. My eyes were bigger than my stomach though. I was very satisfied when I left. The wait staff was very friendly, attentive, and i never wanted for anything. Fabulous experience.

Phenomenal food with some of the best presentation I've seen on Thai Food. Their soups are excellent and a guaranteed to please anybody who tries it. I've also had the spicy eggplant which was also amazing. Their curries aren't as good as some places in town in my opinion, but are still very good. The delivery is the only reason I don't give it five stars. It took the driver about an hour and forty-five minutes to get me my phone because his English was so bad. I had to give them my credit card number about six times before we walked through it together very slow, number by number to get it right. Still, the food is outstanding and the service is speedy and friendly. What more could you want? My only question is, do they use MSG? I would like to know that answer, so if anybody knows, let me know. Thanks!

The food here is ok. Just ok. The rice was a bit hard (either it's too old or they didn't put in enough water). And it didn't have that delicious smell that jasmine rice has. The rest of the food is so-so in taste. The duck & beef salad was alright. I ordered hot jasmine tea, which came with a tiny (I mean real tiny as in espresso size) teacup with saucer & tea infuser of some sort. I liked the tea infuser thingie. It also came with a pot of hot water to refill. The employee seated us in a weird place. By weird I mean in a high traffic area. There was a table with chair & long seated booth thing. I wasn't real happy with this arrangement. But my mom & I were both tired after driving for several days & didn't want any trouble. Parking was a pain. We had to go around several times to find a spot.

Love this place! There are quite a few thai restaurants in Flagstaff, but my roommates and I always go back to Swaddee because the excellent customer service. The food here is amazing as well as the prices! I just got back from Thailand, so it's nice to get a taste of the culture while we are dining here! Definitely recommend. :)

First time I've ordered from Yelp for Delivery and I must say I'm impressed. Swaddee did a great job packaging my lunch and it arrived hot and earlier than expected. I order the Coconut Princess and it was delicious. The coconut milk, lemongrass, mushrooms and chicken really balance each other out and no flavor is more potent then any other. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. I've given 4 stars because my one complaint was that the lemongrass was very hard. I've had their Coconut Princess several time and I've not had this issue before, so I'm hoping this was just a fluke. Overall I would order through Yelp again for delivery and I'll be back to Swaddee for a future lunch, dinner or what ever.

I know, I know, who eats Thai food while in Flagstaff. Look, we were hiking the next morning and didn't want to tempt ourselves by going to any of the breweries, we thought we'd be safe here. I had read the reviews, and many had proclaimed this was the best Thai food in town. Well I feel really sorry for you guys. This was pretty basic, and I most definitely wouldn't call it authentic. I ordered usual, papaya salad with a heat of 3/5. Salad was decent and the heat was spot on. For my entree I chose Beef Pad-See-Ew, again with a heat of 3/5. This was a total disappointment. No heat at all and they use regular broccoli, not Chinese broccoli like traditional Pad-See-Ew. My friend ordered the Panang Curry, 4/5 heat and hers as well had no spice and the flavor was nasty. We finished with Mango Sticky Rice, the rice was overcooked and it was drowned in coconut milk, so much so that it overpowered the mango and the rice. I guess I have to lower my standards while in town.

I have been coming here for years and there are many reasons why I choose swaddee over other Thai places like pato or Dara Thai. First off the service is super friendly and has gotten much better over the years. The lunch specials are cheap and the potions are huge, that was definitely a plus side when I was in my college years. Now onto the food, I usually get the yellow curry with deep fried tofu. Their curries are to die for! They are not as sweet as the competitor's but that's just the way I like it. The broth is so savory and so delightfully spot on it keeps me coming back. The Tom kha soup is another one of my favorites and once again the portions are huge and I love how earthy the broth gets with all of the different vegetables mixed in. I am rarely disappointed there and will continue to be a regular!

After dining here, we were so happy the other Thai food restaurant around the corner (which we originally had planned on going to) was closed for the 4th of July holiday! Our taste buds were yearning for Thai, so we slipped into Swaddee right before the sky opened, drenching a lot of unsuspecting tourists. But I digress. The place was packed, a good sign, and the aromas that filled the air were so enticing. We waited about 20 minutes before being seated. A word to those new to Thai food: spicy in Thai food is not the same as spicy in Mexican food or Chinese food. Spicy in Thai food means SPICY! Even knowing that, we ordered the Spicy Noodles with chicken, level 4, and the Chicken Red Curry, level 3. Both came with rice, and both were sooooo delicious. Portions are large, so half of each dish went home with us to be enjoyed at another meal. Service was great - our server kept the water coming!! Interior is great, too - love those original exposed brick walls. And of course, Buddha wallpaper. We will try the other Thai restaurant, but now that we now about Swaddee, we will definitely be back!

I ordered delivery after a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon. I was hungry for some Thai and I didn't want to move!! Was between the pad Thai or the pad see ew. Went with the chicken pad see ew. It was good. Not the best I've had but by far not the worst. Delivery was fast and easy. I'd do it all over again but next time might go with the pad Thai.

We have tried every Thai place we could find in Northern Arizona. Swaddee, at least for us, is the best that we have found. Have been coming here for a few years now, except when we try any new place that opens up, but please note that we keep on returning here. The new Decor is charming, but I can't see it with tears running from my eyes (it hurts so good!!!) because I order it really hot/spicy. I keep coming back because I have become addicted to their great food. Every time, I try something new, and always find something great and exciting. I recommend this place to all, even if you don't care for hot/spicy, because they will make it mild also.

I love Swaddee! Best Thai in Flag. Screw what everyone says about Pato - it doesn't hold a candle to Swaddee. Firstly, the decor is fantastic. I love the Buddha wallpaper and the original brick walls. Sitting in the tables in the nooks at the front seriously make you feel like you have the whole restaurant to yourself. I've tried a lot of different dishes here, and my favorites are the green curry, mussaman curry, tom ka gai, and the coconut princess. Portions are decent, flavor is fresh. Service is fast. The best part? The lunch special! For about ~$8.95 you get basically the same portion as the dinner entree, in addition to getting soup and an egg roll.

I had this for dinner tonight and was glad I did it was pretty good and live that they deliver...the only think I'd change is the tom ka soup had canned mushrooms in it and I think it'd be way better if it was all fresh...

  • Ginny D.

We came here because Pato was packed, but it wasn't a loss at all. Despite being pretty empty, this place was awesome. The panang curry was delicious and service was prompt and polite. I have a peanut allergy so I always take a risk when eating Thai, but they were happy to accommodate me and there were no issues. I only wish we hadn't been in a rush so we could've stuck around and tried a dessert - our bill was almost shockingly low and we would've been happy to eat more!

Swaddee is the best Thai in town. Their Tom Ka soup is addicting and I love that when I order it "Thai hot", they deliver the heat. Pad Thai, curries, and coconut princess are all delicious. Excellent service and a beautiful atmosphere.

Cute place. Very good service and the food was served quickly. I had the cashew beef thai hot which was up there on the spice meter but for those looking to sweat it out it could get hotter.

  • Angie S.

I'm changing my review about Swaddee Thai. I have mostly loved the food there, I really have (some exceptions apply: for example, my last experience (the Larb was not the same as usual. They put hard rice thingy's in it and it did not feel safe to my teeth) Another time I ordered and ate part of my food later and the second half of my eggroll had something very, very hard in it that resembled a tooth lol (Yes, a tooth with a filling! Now it probably was not that, but it was not supposed to be there and I am darn lucky I didn't break a tooth. But what is truly awful is the service. The young Thai gal has a terrible memory and she isn't very helpful and she is ALWAYS there when I have gone, usually by herself... The last time, they had loud alternative music playing from the back of the kitchen, mixing with the front of the house soft music...it was horrible !!! I will not be back! What a shame...

We eat here almost every time we come to Flagstaff. We love the atmosphere and the staff is wonderful! We've had several of the curries with both shrimp and tofu. All have been great. Be sure to save room for the coconut ice cream. It's homemade and some of the best I've ever had!!

    (5)
  • Matthew M.

Best I've had in Flagstaff. The people that go to other Thai places are generally locals that haven't been outside of Arizona and don't have much to compare it to. I like the quiet setting. I ordered a typically-hard-to-make dish (Eggplant) and it came out good, and I'm pretty picky with my eggplant. decent prices, not overly decadent- so far my favorite in Flagstaff.

They offer different spicy level from 1 to 5 stars. You will love here if you like really spicy food! Ordered Roast Duck Curry, which is unique! spicy noodle is also goood!

  • Eric J.

Newly renovated, and feels more cozy. Since the height of the booths lowered, it's easier for the servers to spot the diners. The spring rolls did shrink a little bit. The side salad could be a little more presentable, rather than dumping ingredients on top of lettuce. Our table had the Pad Thai which was okay, and the Fried Rice was good.

Great food! Great environment! Their spicy scale is moderate compared to other restaurants like Pato Thai. Swaddee's 3/5 is like a Pato's 2/5.

    (5)
  • Hyram J.

Yellow curry with deep fried tofu, 3/5 spicy scale. The dish itself is only 3 out of 5 stars but the restaurant is great hence the 4 star rating. The potatoes in the yellow curry were cut quite large and we're not cooked as much as some other yellow curry dishes I've had in Seattle and Midwest. The spicy scale was accurate. The restaurant itself has nice decor and very efficient service. I will come back, after I try some other restaurants

The food was decent but they overcharged us and forgot our egg rolls but corrected the mistake when we went back twice. The lunch special is good but the "salad" is minimal and the egg rolls are tiny.

YUMM. We had been to Pato, around the corner, a couple times for Thai in Flagstaff, but decided to change it up and came here. I thought this was even better. The decor is fairly over-the-top Thai restaurant and nice if you like looking at elephants. I had a funny story about an encounter with an elephant in my previous review but Yelp removed it. Let's just say they have big fingers and I am forever changed.

LOVE THIS PLACE. Best Thai food I've had in a while. I come from south east Asia and I've had authentic Thai food in Thailand so trust me if I say this is the one place you wouldn't want to miss if u visit flagstaff. The pad see ew was really good. if u need something appetizing, get the yum woon sen. U can choose the spicy level, i chose 5 bcos that's the traditional Thai spiciness and I love spicy food. I have no complaints and I would love to dine here everyday if I could.. And if u pay by cash, u get 10% off the total bill. What's not to love?

  • Tharinee K.

I do not understand why they get 4 stars here. Food was fine but almost too fast, some dishes were not actually Thai tasting. Service really sucked, slow and unfriendly!! The waitress asked what kind of meat for "Nam sod" that I wanted, even though they say "minced pork" on the menu already. Thats basically a pork dish only, "Nam" is made from pork 9/10 times. She didn't explain anything and just wanted me to make a decision. I know alot about Thai food.. I'm from Thailand if you read my review, I do not recommend this restaurant. So disappointment!!

    (2)
  • Justin P.

Good portion size, nicer atmosphere than the other thai restaurants downtown. When I want thai and want to eat in, this is where I go. Servers are nice and already know what I am going to order as my wife and I eat here that often.

  • Terry O.

We had to go back for dinner a second night in a row just to make sure that the food, service, & atmosphere was for real. As we travel, we are always trying Thai restaurants, as this is one of our favorite foods. Swaddee's has the best Pad Thai Noodles we have ever eaten. Their Sticky Rice with Mango (seasonal) was superb. The staff, it seems to be family owned, was very efficient, friendly and humble. We thought the atmosphere and decor was beautiful. There is a floor to ceiling lit piece of art that is stunning and all of the tables had linen napkins, lit candles, & fresh flowers. If you like Thai food, do not pass up a chance to eat at this fabulous restaurant. A definite 10+.
