If you have never had truly wonderful Indian food, you might mistakenly think this was good. It was the worst ( and I have had numerous and some average Indian meals before) that I have ever had. There was a hair in the rice and everything had the same bland consistency. I am glad to say that I will never eat at this Establishment again. Save your money and head elsewhere.

Horrible experience! Food didn't even make up for how poorly we were treated. The hostess was so disinterested in serving us, was not helpful at all. The server was some awkward teenager who didn't want to talk to us or look us in the eye. They were dropping our plates on the table like they had somewhere better to be and the server put our naan directly under the drapes which dangled INTO the plate! Not acceptable. The food was just OK too. Nothing to write home about. I won't be returning.

We stopped by for dinner at the India Palace and we were not disappointed. Service was far better than any of the restaurants we've visited while in Flagstaff. However, we would have given 5 stars if there had been a system for the servers. We started with one server. Then, we had three other servers and we were concerned that our original server may have to share tips with the other staff. It was confusing. But, let's get to the food. Best Indian cuisine we've had in a very long time. We left our meals up to the chef. One vegetarian and a non-vegetarian surprise. The surprise was that everything was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. The servers were all pleasant and answered all our questions. The management just needs to tweak the servers stations.

Really quite good. Considering we were starving and it was Valentine's Day and there wasn't visible parking closer to the main drags/our original choice, I can't claim this was our intention but it was very welcome after driving back from the Canyon. Service was lovely - We never had want for water, food was prompt, people were friendly, they gave us a rose from the decor. The menu has all the staples you might desire, and we were happy with our entrees. The pappadam were yummy, too, but some of that is the need to slake your hunger when you sit and oh! there's crackers and chutney. It was nice to ask for spicy and actually get spicy. Our server indicated we could dial the heat on a 1-10 scale, and I worry that if I don't say, "11," then I won't get truly spicy. I asked for a 9 and there was some tongue and lips tingle to my chana masala. Nice.

Visiting from phoenix and wish this restaurant was there! Had the lunch buffet which was excellent. Halal meat was fresh and amazing: tandoori, butter and various types of chicken. They say don't judge a book by its cover - and the cover is poor. The decor is frankly awful. Starters were not great, but functional. Service very good. Mains were all very good. Over all it's 7/10 - give this place a chance. If you like curry and can put up with dreadful interior, then a good meal awaits. Good value and a non-vegetarian thali were nice surprises!

Wonderful experience. Awesome food. I am from California and I have not found such good restaurant there. We ordered samosa for starters and it was awesome. Never had such samosas in U.S. Paneer tikka masala, veg briyani, channa masala was spicy and made it my day. All tiredness gone with wonderful dinner. I will recommend friends to have food here once you come to Grand Canyon.

Extremely long wait to get food. I waited for an hour before i had food on my table. Saw many guests leaving the place after waiting for eternity. Food was average, don't go if you are hungry. Recommended if you have couple of hours to waste.

Traveling between grand canyon and Flagstaff, this is one of the best Indian restaurant to peek in for delicious food.. We were chasing hotel closing time and called them to hold on few minutes.. And came around 9.45 pm. Manager Patel was really kind and helpful in welcoming us at the late night and picked up our order. It was served quickly and everything was very tasty and we had a gr8 dinner.

I saw that reviews older than 6 months were pretty bad, but newer ones were very positive. I had a coupon so I took a gamble. I'm so glad I did! This is my new default Indian restaurant. Parking: the fact that they have any at all is unusual for downtown flagstaff. It made it really convenient for me. Food: I was starting to drool a little while waiting because the food smells in the air were so intoxicating. My favorite food I tried tonight was the naan. It's great to see good attention to even the simplest parts of a meal. I always thought of naan as a vehicle, but this naan was different. l would eat it with sauce or even plain. This naan is less like stretchy american pizza dough and more like flakey lavash. Perfect. I had a yellow Dal which was very pretty and delicious. Service: swift, friendly, and not nosy. Exactly how I expect it. Only thing I didn't like was my rice. It had too much mint for my taste. But as I understand, the dish I ordered is supposed to have quite a bit. I think it was Biryani. So if you don't like mint, pick something else! I'll be coming back for sure.

The food is excellent. We had the lamb tikka masala for dinner and a couple of naans. We shared one order and it was plenty of food, the mango lassi is a must. The service is also really good, very attentive and friendly. I'm not sure about weekend hours but weekdays the close between lunch and dinner, open at 5pm for dinner. Sad we missed the lunch buffet it seems like there is a lot of good reviews about it. Will surly be coming back when we are in flagstaff. Totally recommended

The food was overall very good and the staff was very friendly. I really enjoyed the lentil dish, though some of the other food items were a little cold and there were no labels distinguishing what each dish was. I will definitely go back again, as it was mostly a very good lunch.

The service was great, friendly, and fast. The Naan garlic bread was awesome. The raita was great, the curry amazing, the lamb was soft and cooked well. Everything was great. the price was average $$ and always have a lunch buffet. I like to go back anytime:).

I wasn't sure why Flagstaff was getting a third Indian restaurant--especially when Himalayan Grill is so good. At any rate, we went here to celebrate something. At night, spotting the parking spots was a challenge...but for a downtown establishment, at least they had some of their own parking. We were greeted by a tall white guy with hipster facial hair. In fact, all I saw all night were white hipster dudes. The place only has tables--no booths. This sucks if you have kids and you want to hem them into their seats. Ah well, nothing else about the following experience suggested they cared that much for kids anyway. The table was so wobbly, I was afraid my three-year-old would knock it over by leaning forward. The chairs were similarly light and unstable. It all felt one or two small steps up from folding chairs and card tables. If they wanted to distinguish themselves a little bit from the other two Indian places in town, I'd have thought they'd go with Coca-Cola products. Nope. Pepsi. No kids menus. The masala fries were your standard frozen crinkle cut with some red powder on them. The ketchup (which they said was homemade) was so sour that our daughter didn't want to eat french fries with it anyway. Many things on the menu were described first as deep-fried this or that. We tried the deep-fried onions, which--served as they were without any dipping sauce--were devoid of taste, pleasant texture, and moisture. It was like eating a ring of the coating with the onion parts magically disappeared. My wife and I both ordered korma dishes--hers veggie, mine chicken. Rice was extra (as at the other places), but it was good. Sadly, the chicken korma was the first korma dish that I didn't finish. The chicken was not tender, and the square chunks were too big anyway. I didn't even feel inspired enough to take it home. About the only thing that wowed me about this place was the water (and I rarely enjoy water). I think it might have been reverse-osmosis filtered, 'cos I drank all of mine. My point was to find what distinguished them from the other Indian restaurants, and mostly all I found were bad things. :( *edit* After getting a "compliment" from someone claiming to be from the restaurant, requesting that I delete my review, I'm shifting my review from "Meh" to "Eeek!"

Surprised there aren't many more people here for the outstanding lunch buffet. Friendly manager and good food. This is my third visit and plan on more working lunches here. The ambience is severely lacking--my one suggestion is to put more on the walls. Otherwise, love the location and the value.

This is one of our favorites, and the owner's solicitous service adds greatly. The garlic naan is unsurpassed at any other I recall, and goes well with lamb masala. Reservations are rarely needed as tables are many and service prompt.

The food is sooo good. Prices are a bit steep but portions are huge. You can definitely get two meals out of each serving. The owner is super friendly. The waitstaff is nice but could use a little improvement. Overall though I really have no complaints and would recommend this place to anyone.

Very good Indian food. Lunch buffet is $9.95 and worth every penny. Their Lassi is also very good. Lassi will help if you happen to get something a little bit too spicy.

I was so excited about another Indian restaurant opening up in town, so I was eager to come here. But was not very impressed. The location is awesome but the food was fairly average, does not even compare to some others in town.

Had a pretty terrible dinner here. I can't figure out the excellent reviews on this place. The service was embarrassingly bad - young dudes who seemed like they had never served before, knew nothing about Indian cuisine, and had awful timing. The food is the only reason why I'm giving 2 instead of 1 stars but even it was just okay, especially compared to the two other excellent Indian restaurants in town. The chicken tikka masala lacked flavor but the lamb rogan josh was good. Overall, not worth it.

Five stars for an awesome service. It was past closing time for them and we just wanted to get something to go. The owner and the kitchen staff stayed late to prepare our order. We wolfed it down in our car outside and just as we were wrapping up, the owner swung by with glasses of water. The food was good but just go there for some warm and friendly staff!

They have changed chefs and cuisine. Celebrate, because now Flagstaff has the option of trying outstanding South Indian cuisine, comparable with the best South Indian restaurants in Phoenix, and perhaps even the Bay Area (and that is high praise indeed) . Earlier there were three restaurants in town serving nearly identical cuisine, and India Palace was not the best of them. For those who are new to Indian food, the cuisine of south India (much like the languages) is completely different from the generic north Indian (Mughlai) food available at most Indian restaurants. There is tremendous variety within south Indian cuisine too, and the chef at India Palace offers food with the flavors of Tamilnadu. We had dosai, idli, vada, sambar, a truly memorable tomato rasam, and an excellent goat curry. Dosai were not part of the buffet, but the rest of it was all on the all-you-can-eat buffet. The desserts (two warm and two cold) were also on the buffet. I highly recommend this restaurant in its new avatar, and am delighted to have the option of outstanding north Indian (Delhi Palace) and south Indian cuisine (India Palace) now available in Flagstaff. Kudos to the owners and the new chef. They will see a lot of us in the future!

I really wanted to like this place, I love Indian food and I was so excited about another Indian restaurant opening in town. Service was shockingly bad. It took quite a while before someone noticed that we were waiting to be seated, on a pretty quiet night. Our server only came to our table twice, once to take our order and again to deliver our food... no refills on water, even after the empty glasses were obviously placed on the end of our table, and even after we asked for some more water. Baaaad. The poor guy working the host stand was running around like a headless chicken trying to pick up our server's slack. I wish I could have given my tip directly to him. The serving staff seemed more clueless than lazy, perhaps what I witnessed tonight were just teething pains of this new restaurant. I was hoping the food would redeem the service. I could deal with some bad service for some excellent curry. I ordered the shrimp korma which tasted like a can of coconut milk lightly seasoned with some turmeric, with some overcooked shrimp, it was really disappointing. Naan breads, while not bad, were tiny, nothing like the naans that take up half of your table at other Indian restaurants in town.

I am indian and I give it a 5 star. It's pretty close to an Indian mom's cooking. It's an elegant classy place. The ambiance is just the perfect touch. Over all a phenomenal experience. As a local I will definitely be returning over and over.

This place is SO good. I've eaten at all the Indian places in Flagstaff now, and this place definitely owns it. Really good service, excellent buffet, good spicing, good flavor, and all-around worthwhile. Most places in town are super americanized and extremely bland. India Palace really delivers the flavors and spices without being hot unless you ask for it.

Many others have commented on the lunch buffet. If the buffet bars are any indication of the buffet selection, I'm sure it's great. However we were here for dinner. My husband and I frequent several Indian food places in the Phoenix-Valley area & used to frequent Delhi Palace when we lived in Flagstaff. Driving through Flagstaff, we read the yelp reviews and decided to give this new place a try. We were greeted & seated immediately. There was lipstick on my water glass. (Not mine - more of a Chapstick girl myself.) a new water glass was brought out, but I had to find someone to get it filled with water. The restaurant was not decorated - plain walls with holes from where things used to hang (previous ownership). One TV, and attentiveness seemed to be on the side of the restaurant where the TV was located. Saag was good - but $12. Buttery chicken ($13) was ordered with medium spice, but was really mild. Rice ($3) was good, with peas for garnishes. Garlic naan was good. In fact, I wish the servings of naan were larger - only 2 "tortilla-sized" pieces for $3.50! The owner/manager was the most attentive and skilled waiter/server. The others need some training. They lacked focus and organization. We would give this place a second chance, but during lunch.

Their paneer tikka masala, malai kofta, rotis, fire rotis and masala chai was excellent. Simply loved them. The biryani was not that great. The rice used was not basmati rice and was mashy. Samosas were ok.

I've tried all the Indian places in town. I love this new place. Its about time they have an Indian restaurant downtown. My most favorite was the naan. I LOVE NAAN espcially the garlic naan and tbe fite naan. I also really enjoyed the curry. The lunch buffet is a grest way to try the different dishes. The prices were comparable to the other restaurants. The decor was nice and clean. The servers were attentive and kept my water glass filled. The manager, Jay, was very friendly and also checked on us. I like tbe funny Bollywood videos that were on, i been here for dinner several times and have not been disappointed.

OMG this place is amazing!!! Service was great! Next time we are in town will having lunch there. After going to dinner and finding out how big the portions were, we could have ordered half the food we did. After talking with the manager, the lunch buffet sounds like the way to go it's $10. Going for dinner was a little pricey but again it was family style. Can't wait to up here again to eat here!!

Friendly staff, delicious curries, several entry level dishes - highly recommended. Sag paneer, biriyani all delicious. We happened to come on a Sunday night, which most places in this area are closed by 9 but this place closes at 10, so this is a major plus if you are thinking of an after movie dinner!

Wonderful food and attentive service. The lunch buffet had many veg options, and the naan was hot, soft and amazing. Seating was comfortable with great views! We will be back. So happy to find such a gem downtown. Finally we have more downtown ethnic food to compete with all our Thai fare. :)

Ate dinner here the 4th night after it opened. We loved it. Both vegetarian entrees were plentiful, rich without being overbearing and seemed very authentic - not Americanized from what we could tell . The 3-4 naan dipping sauces were very pure and tasty, and again, not excessively salty, sweet or cloying. Again, these seemed very authentic and flavorful and the naan was light, hot and garlicky. The service was by one of the co-owners who goes by Jay, but whose real name is something like Jigganaish - we think he should go by Jiggy, as in get Jiggy Wid it. He was attentive and quietly friendly without pandering. Here in Flag, we love the Himalayan Grille too - but it's nice to have an Indian place in the middle of downtown. I'd give it a 4 next time if the colored lighting was a bit less bright. Might be culturally insensitive (sorry), but the lighting was a bit over the top, almost garish, and the TV's on the wall seemed to cheapen the overall experience. That said, hoping to get Jiggy with Jigganaish and Bobby again and again - especially for the lunch buffet.

I was really excited when I saw an Indian restaurant was opening right next to downtown and following my first experience there, I will definitely be returning. My wife got lamb while I tried the fried okra. Both were cooked perfectly and the service was quick and friendly. I haven't been to the lunch buffet yet, but the dinner was wonderful!

I'm thrilled that there is a good Indian restaurant in downtown Flagstaff! I had the lunch buffet and thoroughly enjoyed it. The offerings combined the typical Indian fare (tikka massala, tandori chicken, saag, fluffy bismati rice, etc.) cooked to perfection. For those interested in other unique and savory items, a goat dish was available to try. The yummy garlic naan that accompanied the meal was some of the best I've had, and the rice pudding desert was a real treat! The decor was somewhat plain, as the restaurant had only just opened, but the views of the San Francisco Peaks and downtown Flagstaff were quite nice. The service was attentive and helpful, and the owner, Jig, introduced himself and made me feel special. It's clear they are invested in providing excellent Indian food in a friendly environment. The price was very reasonable too! I will definitely come back.
