Really good chicken and waffles! The My Boy Blue was delicious. Loved the homemade blueberry syrup. The chicken was very flavorful and cooked very well. My bf had the Chic and he loved it. He had no complaints. He also liked their tater tots. Wish there were more options for the chicken and waffles... Topping or sauces. But I loved the decor of the place. It was really clean and staff was friendly. We enjoyed our breakfast here and if we're in flagstaff again we'll definitely be back.

My wife and I drove up to Flagstaff Saturday Morning to visit my wonderful mother-in--law. She suggested we meet at Field House Chicken and Waffles. What an excellent choice. The menu had so many great options, it took a while to decide. I went with blueberry chicken and waffles, which were superb. My wife had a salad that she enjoyed greatly. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. There was also a dog friendly patio that Bo loved!

Tried The Field House after hearing great reviews, but left disappointed. We ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer and they were good, no complaints, but the main courses were sub par. When looking at the extensive menu everything sounded great and made it hard to make a decision. I went with the miss-mash-hash which had hash browns, pulled pork, and corn bread drizzled with gravy. The pulled pork was dry and the cornbread mix of sweet and savory got old, and I couldn't finish the meal. I think the meal would have been better with a good BBQ sauce and not the flavorless gravy. My wife ate the "Chic" which is three chicken strips and a waffle. She enjoyed the waffle, but the chicken was dry and flavorless. They don't have any signature sauces and offered her franks red hot and cholula. I don't plan on returning.

Had breakfast/brunch on 5/10/15. Fabulous food, well prepared and creative. Waffles are awesome and eggs cooked perfectly as ordered (over medium). A must try in Flagstaff. Staff was friendly and helpful although over-extend on this Mother's Day. Only downside is that the bathrooms were filthy; great decor, but seriously needed cleaning. Overall a great value!

Tried to eat here for breakfast but service was so slow and it wasn't even busy. Ended up walking out before we could try the food

Left hoping (and still hoping) that I don't get sick. :( I ordered the bacon wrapped jalapeños and after the 1st bite discovered that The second layer of bacon was slimy raw!! Not just a little piece of it but about 1/2 a slice of raw wiggly bacon!!! (It was still oinking---my husbands words.) My replacement meal was only comped down 1/2 price but it wasn't really worth the $5 I paid for it either. It was the "BBQ" pulled pork sandwich that left me feeling like I just ate sub par lackadaisical attempted BBQ. The sparse sauce was weirdly more of black pepper honey sauce and the cole slaw had little to no flavor and/or dressing. The sweet potato fries were an odd mixture of 1/2 slightly under and 1/2 slightly over cooked. My husband had a standard over priced side salad and soup that was "ok but but not the greatest." Our service was extremely lacking. The waitress was polite but that's about it. We were there for well over an hour-partly because of the raw bacon issue and mostly because service was SLOW for everything! How do you bring someone a coffee refill and then take 5 minutes to return with creamer? (When you know they wanted it the 1st time!) After raw bacon issue I was given 1 "sorry about that can I make you another one." (Would you want to eat it again after eating a bite?) plus when I got the bill she acted like she was doing me a favor comping the mistake and taking 1/2 off my sandwich. We were shocked a manager never checked on us and apologized. We left spending $19 (plus a little tip-we aren't jerks) on coffee, sprite, a bowl of soup, a side salad, and my 1/2 off sandwich! Sad to leave wishing I would have just eaten a gas station hot dog instead. I LOVE to support local business (even if I'm traveling and not a local). Intended to eat across the way but the other place was closed. Sad representation of "southern food" and defiantly no southern hospitality!

Here in Flagstaff for a wedding and when traveling, I try to find a locals favorite. I saw Field house on Yelp and saw the Chicken and Waffles so I had to try it to compare to California's Rosco's Chicken and Waffles. We got there early so seating was not a problem. Our server was great. Very attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was good but the Chicken was not as flavorful or as crispy as I like it. I love the way they prepared the waffle. A very crisp and thin waffle with a good flavored batter. Our friends ordered the Lisa and the Monte Cristo and they looked delicious. A large portion of an entree. The place was very clean but definitely a smell of oil. Maybe they do need better ventilation or change out their oil fryers more ofter. I think maybe the reason to why the chicken isn't as crispy as it should be. Still worth the try, but since we're visitors, it was a one time visit.

Came here for the first time for the raved about Bloody Mary's. To make a long story short, we never got one. Took several minutes before we were even acknowledged after entering, staff was obviously overwhelmed. We were able to place our order relatively quickly and that's where things really went downhill. Food was taking forever so we, and ever other table it seemed, were given a "comped" tater- tot nacho plate. Asked about our BM's and were told the other server had to make them. Got our food and again asked about our BM's, same response. Food was OK..fried green tomatoes, Mac and cheese, payton omelet, morning wood and a burger. Finally cancelled our BM's. Bill came...we were charged for the comped tater-tot app and 2 of the 3 BM's we never got. Bill was corrected and we left. Observed a group seated at the counter who apparently were fed up with the lack of service. Others in our group were very disappointed as their past experiences here had been very positive.

Folks, i tried it again. It if obvious that the owners (the same guys that have ruined Busters) do not read or do not care about what reviewers say on Yelp. I STRONGLY recommend that you do not eat here, if you have any plans of attending a social event afterwards. You are going to smell of greasy fried chicken for the rest of the day. The food remains passible, but there are a lot of potential improvements that could be to the advantage of the customer, but again the owners cannot seem to understand the issue. Please look at the consistency of the complaints and you will understand.

To be clear - this is not South Central Los Angeles. It is Flagstaff AZ! So the ambience is slightly different from the chicken and waffle places I'm used to... What they lack in urban vibe though, they more than make up for on the breakfast menu. The omelette I had was stellar, super fresh and delicious produce - and the French Toast was crunchy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside, and made me feel happy on the inside

SO good...loved the cinnamon toast crunch french toast and the blueberry blue cheese waffle. It tasted amazing. Awesome atmosphere. Friendly servers. Great service. Can't wait to come back!

I've been here twice now with family and both time I've been favorable impressed. I was close to a 5 star rating but dinged them because their food is not quite there in my humble opinion and I can't get a traditional Manhattan because their bar does not stock sweet vermouth although I understand their sister establishment Taverna does. What's up with that? The food - heavily Southern comfort based with some interesting twists and turns. Their full name is Field House Chicken & Waffles. I had their B.L.G.T. the first time which features fried green tomatoes along with bacon and lettuce on sour dough bread. It was excellent and a very generous size. Last night, I tried their NO LA Gumbo. I've had the real deal in Naw'lins and this was not bad but I personally didn't care for the way they serve it over grits and cornbread - a tad too heavy for me but it was very tasty. I prefer my cornbread and grits on the side. Their service has been very good. They have some original cocktail concoctions - the Cowboys & Indians is a favorite of both my wife and daughter. I settled for Jim Beam on the rocks which was a very generous pour. This is a fun casual dining spot that features breakfast all day along with many other interesting and appetizing entrees and combinations. fieldhouseflag.com/menu-…

Went last night with friends and we were terribly disappointed. Chicken was overdone and meat was dry. Two of the chicken breasts were minuscule with practically no meat on them. We called the manager over and he ordered two new pieces of chicken breast. The replacement order took forever to be delivered and embarrassingly one piece was actually a thigh instead of the breast that had been promised. I'm giving two stars because the sides were very good (Mac and cheese and fried okra) and to their credit the meal was comped. The quality of the food however has dropped significantly since the promising opening a year ago.

Uneven reviews for this place & I had an uneven experience. My server was good & there was clearly decent communication amongst wait staff. My issues were with the kitchen, which was "a mess" today according to our server. Our food took entirely too long to prepare, came out @ variable temperatures & cooking quality. :/ Atmosphere is good, definitely a place to catch an NFL game; charming decor. I'm gonna go back & check out happy hr.

A small group of us visited this past Sunday. We were seated immediately, someone took our drink orders promptly and answered all our questions regarding the menu. The food? It. Was. Amazing. I got the Nutella chicken and waffles. It's drizzled with both Nutella and caramel sauce. It sounds really weird, but it's absolutely amazing. Boyfriend got some breakfast sandwich that received rave reviews from him. Will definitely be back next time we visit!

Excellent experience for an early lunch today! Pulling off the freeway we found this location tucked into the back of a small shopping center, but not to be missed! We were greeted right away and seated at a nice table by the front windows. The decor in the resturant is very cute and quaint, love the mason jar chandeliers! Our sever was very friendly and our food came out in a timely manner. For a starter we had the fried pickle chips; delicious! Our meals were the Lisa sandwich and Southern burger; both beyond good! Overall this was a great location to stop into. The menu has a great selection and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Would return!

Food was amazing - portions were generous. My fiancé and I tried a couple of the cocktails and we were pleased. Service was top-notch - our server Terrel was attentive and super friendly. Would come back again if we weren't in town for only one night.

I can't say enough good things about their food! It's unique, flavorful and quite pretty to look at. I would go there again, just for their food. The restaurant's atmosphere was good, big open windows and friendly people. The only reason I gave 3-stars was because we couldn't seem to get help when we needed it. We waited for 15 minutes for a table that was right in front of us, empty but not yet cleared. After that, it took the host 10 more minutes to even bring us our menus. Another 10 minutes for drink and food orders. But from there it was mostly smooth sailing.

Two years ago I had Lolo's baby boop and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I seriously thought of not moving to Flag simply because of Lolo's. Thanks to God almighty the Field House opened. Proof of heaven on Earth!

Had a wonderful breakfast here today. Greeted immediately and treated like royalty. If World Class Service has an address, it's here at Field House Chicken and Waffles in Flagstaff, AZ. Honestly, I was skeptical about trying this eatery out because of the unusual name. They have good food, good environment, locally brewed beers, and oh yeh, 8 big screen TV's for your sports people!

This place is great. Modern southern cookin. Great service, great food and fun menu. Our group had fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, the treehouse, the chicken feed salad, the toMacburger, and banana pie. Love the unique drink menu. Had the cowboys and Indians. Will be back!

This place is really good! I kick myself for not trying it sooner! Bloody Mary's were delicious! I got the Classico (a mimosa with prosecco garnished with fresh blueberries) yummmm! I got "The Chic", a waffle with three chicken strips and added bacon. To. Die. For. Their waffles are BOMB. My new favorite breakfast place!

Excellent food and service. Portions are big enough to share. Staff was extremely courteous and it's just a fun place in general. I'm looking forward to coming to town and eating here again.

favorite brunch spot that I got to try in Flag! Their Boy Blue Chicken and Waffles option was seriously awesome! My friend got the cinnamon crunch french toast and said it was delicious! The drinks looked amazing- since I had a 2 hour drive back to Phoenix, I drank a diet coke. Service was great too!

Tried this place for breakfast and it was pretty good. A guy saw us coming and was waiting with menus the second we walked in. He sat us right away and within a minute our server was over. She explained the menu, took our drink order (including fresh squeezed orange juice filled to the brim) and gave us time to figure out what we wanted. She answered my questions and told me the chicken fried steak is made in house to order instead of pre-breaded frozen patty like most places in town. My husband had a hard time choosing what to get and she recommended the counter, a waffle with 2 pieces of fried chicken ( comes with wing and breast but he swapped the breast for a thigh for no charge) with caramel sauce and pralines. I got the big country which is chicken fried steak with 2 eggs, hash browns and toast. Our waitress let me know that it was a big portion which I'm glad she did because I have a very small appetite. The chicken fried steak was thick (almost too thick) and the breading was well seasoned and for the most part stayed on the steak. My only complaint was that it could have been more tender. The eggs were good, the hash browns were ok but not crispy at all, and the toast was not buttered but it came with good gravy on the steak. My husband's enjoyed his meal overall. The chicken was crispy and moist and the waffle held up well. His only issue was the pralines, they were just a mouthful of salt. Overall a good first impression, we definitely want to try it for dinner to see how the experience differs.

I had high expectations of the Field House because the menu looked so good. Southern food isn't easy to come by in Flagstaff. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, my husband ordered the Chic, (waffle with chicken strips), and my 2-year old had Mac and cheese. We had the house made barbeque chips for an appetizer. The chips were stellar. Good flavor, and the blue cheese/bacon dipping sauce was unique and tasty. The service was prompt and friendly. Sadly the good stuff ends there. My shrimp and grits entree was drowning in way too much garlic; it overpowered the dish. I couldn't finish it and usually I love shrimp and grits. Still hungry, I tried a bite of my husband's chicken but it was overcooked and dry. The Mac and cheese for our child was overcooked as well. I will give them a second chance in a couple months maybe but I was really disappointed. Especially since they should be really wowing the customers at this point since they only recently opened the doors. Maybe it's time for a new head chef.

We were a little hesitant on trying chicken and waffles in flagstaff but we were pleasantly surprised! the menu had much more than chicken and waffles but they had every part of the chicken, white meat and dark meat, and not just chicken strips. the waffles were also decent. we also got the fried pickles which were fresh and delicious. the service was grade A and the manager was walking around the whole time making sure everything was running smoothly. we would definitely come back or even pick up some chicken and waffles to go.

1st things 1st. If you are a chicken and waffle place your chicken should be really good. I can't speak for the waffles because I did not get one. I ordered some thighs and legs to go. We called in around 2 pm. and got there at 2:10 pm. It should have been fresh, juicy and crisp. Instead it was dried up and tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for about 3 hours. I have had better chicken at a grocery store deli. I'm not kidding this was the worst chicken on the bone I have ever had. The only reason I am not giving this a 1 star is because the girl that helped us on the phone and when we got there to pick up the food was over the top with customer service! To bad the food did not match it. Highly disappointed!

I had the Monte Cristo and he had the Flagstaff. The French fries and tater tots were cooked perfectly but they were bland. We had the fried pickles and pleasantly surprised with the cornbread breading. The pickles had a nice mild flavor to them. The chicken in the Flagstaff was juicy and delicious. The Monte Cristo was less than mediocre and it was messy. Service was slow but the ambiance was delightful.

Had the cheddar biscuits and gravy. Came with eggs and hash browns. I wasn't thrilled with the biscuits but thankfully gravy has little more flavor. Eggs were fine, hash was a little soggy. It could be the style they make, but personally prefer mine with crispy bits here and there. Coffee was only warm each of the three times I had refills. I can't imagine I'm the only one drinking coffee, so can't understand why it was only warm I probably should have said something but hoped the refill would have been hot. Next time I want to try the chicken and waffles, I imagine that would have been a better choice. Service was friendly, was there early morning so not that busy yet and prices reasonable. It was satisfactory but not great so only 3/5.

I am torn with this review. I want to give this place 1 star because of the terrible, extremely slow as molasses service, and burned greasy "after smell" left in my clothing. But then..because some of the food items were good...I want to give them 2 stars. I will stick with 2. Three times now we have been here. The first time, a small group of us went to brunch. The brunch was good, service was quite slow, but I was okay with it because they make their food to order, and a lot of us were first timers so of course we went in with an open mind. The lumberjack breakfast was really good but then again, cheese, eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns are always good. Second time, went with a group for brunch again. We suggested the place of course because it truly was good, and I love the made to order situation. We were waiting for what seemed like an eternity. We arrived at opening. Were the first ones in the restaurant, and two hours later. TWO HOURS, walked out of the door smelling like I had spent all day frying bacon. We ordered jalapeno poppers. Big mistake. They were taking forever..when we finally asked about them our waitress said they had to run to the store to get jalapenos...okaaay.....so if that was the case and I had known about it I would have said forget it. Especially since the poppers were raw and gross. I make better ones at home in my own kitchen. There were tons of seeds, the jalapenos were crunchy and raw, the cheese was not even soft and melted, and the bacon on the outside was barely done. Complete fail in my book. Our orders came out an hour after we sat down, and someone had their meal completely forgotten. No communication was coming from our server. The kitchen looks way too small and understaffed to be successful in making your meal to order every time. The food that came out was good. People enjoyed their waffles and the chicken was nicely done. My husbad asked for a simple side of buffalo sauce and instead they bring out a side of extra chicken with sauce poured all over it. They also promptly charged us for this extra chicken we didn't even order. Our waitress even said, ohhhh you ordered just the sauce huh....wells this ok?? It wasn't even worth asking our airhead waitress to fix the problem, at that point we just wanted to eat and get the heck out of there ASAP. Third time...and I feel like this is the final time...4 of us went for lunch. Yet again...it took two hours. We had no wait for a table. Our order was completely messed up, and everyone around us looked like they were becoming quite upset also. Lots of people didn't have food, the couple next to us had their order messed up, the wait staff seemed annoyed that people were having problems with their food. I can't seem to see if it is a staffing problem like they can;t get enough good help, or they are not scheduling enough people to work. The wait staff seemed so overwhelmed and the kitchen had two what looked like teenagers running it. The owners should really look into what is wrong with their kitchen flow because it is going to cause them to lose customers. After reading some of these reviews there were some people that didn't even get served because they walked out the wait at their table was so long. After three attempts, I don't want to go back because I have to dedicate an afternoon to eat breakfast and plan for a shower and load of laundry later because they have no ventilation. I wanted this place to become one of my regular brunch spots I will have to say no for now unless things change.

I'm sorry but this place is awful. The fried chicken is nothing like fried chicken should be. I'm from the south and grew up eating fried chicken. The smell of fried foods in the restaurant is disgusting. There is not enough ventilation in this place. When I left there my clothes reeked of the smell of this place. I will not be returning here. Another restaurant in Flagstaff that is a huge disappointment!!

My boyfriend and I came here last weekend, he ordered the chic and I ordered the Peyton omelette and the green chile corn muffin. I want to say we waited 30 minutes for our food, and it wasn't very packed, this would have led me to give them 4 stars BUT they gave us a free appetizer and our waiter continuously checked on us, let us know the status of our food, and apologized for it taking so long. The portions are great as well, the food was great, but the green chile corn muffin was the best, definitely get it when you stop by!

Place looks great, service was alright. Fried chicken was dry and bland (I even ordered dark meat). It would be nice to have hot chocolate other than coffee! Please add some flavor to your fried chicken! Mac and cheese was good.

  • Brock B.

Had high expectations, unfortunately after trying it I have to say I am a bit disappointed. The waffle was heavy and dry, and the chicken was lacking flavor. The atmosphere was cool, the wait staff was on point, but the over all eating experience was not satisfying.

  • M. M. M.

Both the fried chicken and the waffles were excellent. Almost as good as LoLo's in Phoenix/Scottsdale, but better than Roscoe's in LA. Will definitely be coming back every time we go to flagstaff. Also has one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had!

This place hit the spot! We stopped here around 4PM and hadn't eaten a real meal all day. When we arrived here, we saw they had chicken and waffles which is one of my favorites! The service was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious. It's country style food, so unless you are a calorie fanatic, you should try this place at least once. We returned the next eve to repeat the experience, and it was still good but maybe not as good as the first day.

Great breakfast! I ordered "The Nutella" and it was delicious. The chicken was cooked thoroughly, with taste and juice. The waffle was drizzled in nutella and perfect to my tongue. My girlfriend ordered "The counter", which consisted of a waffle, a wing, and a breast. The waffle was great, however her chicken had less taste, and was too sweet. The staff was friendly and prompt. Will come back soon.

I came for breakfast on Sunday morning with a group and had the chicken and waffles as well as the pork buns. The chicken was great the waffle was good. Pork buns were kind of like sliders and were excellent. The restaurant had football on many different screens which was nice, but the sound in that space was way too loud. Sports bar level. The outdoor patio is also pretty cool. A changing table in the bathroom would be a great addition. Service was excellent and the space is very well put together. I will definitely come back.

If "Chicken and Waffles" is in the name of your restaurant, they better be damn good chicken and waffles. I left saying to myself, "well that wasn't bad." I was there on a reasonably slow Saturday morning. After being seated, it took 5 minutes for anyone to offer us water, and another 5 before anyone asked if we'd like to order any coffee. So 15 minutes after arriving, we finally got coffee and was able to order. Aside from the waiter screwing up my order--I asked for my gravy on the side and it came poured over--the service wasn't that great. Our coffee was kept filled, so that's a plus. The waffle is OK as is the chicken. But overall, not incredibly impressed. I do want to give them another chance but if they screw that one up, I will never return.

We popped in for Saturday morning breakfast. I would say, we saw great potential and hope they work out a few kinks. We ended up getting the same thing - the Down South Chicken and Waffles. Our assessment: the components were pretty good flavor-wise but overall execution needed a little work. The waffles were slightly sweet and fluffy. It came with two chicken tenders, which were a good size and had a nice crust. It was then covered with sausage gravy and topped with an egg. Those were the biggest missteps. It really needed more gravy. It was pretty stingy. We ordered our eggs over easy and they were overcooked - somewhere between medium and hard. We will be back to try them for lunch or dinner - the southern menu looks tasty and prices are very reasonable. The ambience was nice with some bright fun decorations. It gets a little loud in there.

Very good food! The bacon wrapped jalepenos are HOT and tasty; I actually had to ask for a glass of milk. Still good balance. Entrees are easily split. Chicken battering is very well executed and not greasy at all. Gumbo was an awesome variation on the theme; grits are amazing. The chicken sandwich was a bit dry, needs a good sauce and reduced in size but still good. Okra was great!

We had a great first time experience for lunch on MLK Day .. very busy but attentive service [even though the server was "slammed"] and the food was a big hit I had the Chicken and Waffle [you choose your own 3 pieces] and husband had the Chef's choice [3 pieces and waffle] .. the food was delicious, though busy our server was attentive to topping off our soft drinks. There was a mix-up when a server brought out our meals after we already had our meals but it didn't oftend our experience. The portions were so generous that my leftovers were used in a salad that night for us both. Returned today for lunch with our daughter and two small granddaughters [a high chair and a toddler]; service was charming and attentive, and again the food was very good. Daughter had the Chic with tenders & a waffle plus grits and husband had the Bosco chicken and waffles. I think I hit the grand slam with my BLGT - bacon, lettuce, fried green tomatoes & toast [sour-dough] .. it was off the chain delicious and so sumptuous I could only eat half, even though others were sampling my meal and the included of "tater tots". One year old granddaughter loved the tots & 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter loved the chicken and waffle. Our server was helpful and charming and we had a very nice family experience, even with challenging little ones. We took home half my sandwich and tots, and most of the grits which will be fought over tomorrow. We currently call downtown Phoenix our primary home and are accustomed to amazing dining experiences. But, while at our 2nd home in Flagstaff we are big fans of Field House and looking forward to our next visit.

The food here is wonderful. My boyfriend and I have been here multiple times and loved most everything we've ordered. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is service can be pretty bad when it's busy, and I wasn't a huge fan of the breakfast items. However, the chicken and waffles are fantastic, a great combo of sweet, savory, and spicy. The fried pickles, green tomatoes, and okra are also excellent. They serve tasty drinks as well. For all those giving Field House negative reviews, this is the best fried chicken/southern food in Flag, so give it a break.

This place makes my hair and clothes smell like fried chicken. The chicken and waffles and sweet potato fries are good, however, the Southwest Burger is the saltiest thing I have EVER eaten!

I ordered the fried tomatoes and a side of Mac and cheese. Both were pretty good. I also ordered a cocktail ( I think the fig mule) which was also pretty good. My boyfriend liked his fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I was very disappointed in the desert, which was peach cobbler. It was overcooked, mostly breading and the peaches were sour. To make matters worse, when my server dropped it off, she announced that they were out of ice cream and walked away without offering a different topping or perhaps another dessert instead. I had to send it back. My boyfriend's banana creme pie was better, although the crust tasted faintly stale, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a bit. I'd also like to note that it smells like a fryer in the entire restaurant. After eating there, you WILL smell like fried oil. For this reason alone I will probably not be returning. So overall: food and drinks good for the most part, service needs improvement, prices are a bit much for what you are getting and the smell in the restaurant is horrible.

Went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food was fantastic, the waffles were very light and fluffy and the chicken were great as well. The menu is very extensive so if you don't want chicken and waffles, there are plenty of other options. My only issue with this restaurant was that I ended up smelling like frying oil after we left, probably bad ventilation. Overall though, I would recommend!

all the food was good, but nothing to really write home about. nothing we ate was worth running back to have more. we had "winner winner" monte christo & down south. the "best of flagstaff bloody mary" was the only "stand out in our mind" menu item. the mule and moonshine drinks were a bit bitter. the waffles are slightly sweet and good for breakfast. the place seemed clean, didn't use the restroom though. the music was a good mix, but loud, hard to talk over. all in all, we might go back once more to see if we like it better, but it's just ok for us.

Went today for lunch and had the 3 piece chicken with a waffle. The chicken was pretty good- crispy and juicy, but the waffle wasn't anything impressive. I'd come back for the chicken and to try some of the other things on their menu.

My parents suggested we go to lunch here. It's okay, don't know if I'll go back. We were promptly seated at a large booth by the door. Our server was courteous and was always checking on her tables, and very attentive to all of them. The table ordered 2 Southwest burgers, one with no cheese, 1 bacon and cheese burger, all medium well , and 2 shrimp po-boys. The food was stunning and came out in reasonable time. The shrimp on the Po-boys was probably the best cooked shrimp I've ever had. Not rubbery and very tasty. There could have been a lot more sauce as this was a favorite of my Mom's in Louisiana. The only way to describe the burgers is "ginormous". Visually, the Southwest Burger is stunning with the pretzel roll, pimento cheddar, jalapeño, fried onions, bacon. Mmmm. The front door was propped open to let the smoke from the kitchen out. You can smell every item that is frying in the kitchen. We had to ask for that to be closed, cool rainy day and family is from much warmer climates. Big "beef" was all three burgers were ordered Medium Well. The server asked. Bacon cheese burger was medium well for the 12 year old. Burger w/o cheese was medium rare at best, but the last one a definite rare. My father (70) didn't say a word and ate around the rare. Unfortunately, he made no comment and the server did not ask about the center of the patty that was left on the plate of dissected food, definitely bright red. Very disappointing.

Went there today with wife and a couple from Phoenix. All had waffles and chicken except me and I had some concoction of two fried eggs sandwiched between a slice of cheese and hash browns. Everyone said the waffles were ok. My concoction was really one egg on top of a slice of amer. cheese and covered with very dry hash browns. Also came with two slices of toast. Very tasteless and bland. The toast came without any jam and I had to ask for it. All but me had coffee. I had iced tea. Had to actually go to the waiter to get him to serve coffee as he was too busy folding silverware. I never got a refill of tea. Nor was one offered. Cons: extremely loud. Very poor acoustics. Like being in an empty office with no sound suppression. Everything we wanted had to be asked for. The waiter did try a bit though. Maybe he had too many jobs to do. I belong though to the school of "the customer comes first". Menu was limited and I thought, expensive for what it was. Pros: All in my party said the chicken was good and the waffles were as well. So, if you have to go, take someone you don't want to talk to because otherwise you'll yell at each other and stay away from the egg, bacon, and hash brown concoction. All in all, I didn't enjoy my meal and was glad when we got out of there. Won't return.

Not bad overall, but it definitely seems like they still have some kinks to work out. My boyfriend's chicken and waffles was good, but my chicken fried steak was kind of soggy and bland (and pretty overpriced). Sides of waffle fries and mac and cheese were hot, fresh, and flavorful. And I like that they have 7 or so varieties of hot sauce to choose from. The place is clean and decorated nicely and the blues/soul background music was fun. My only legit complaint is that our server delivered my boyfriend's beer with about 4 inches of head on top, even giving the lame excuse that it was a new keg. For the ridiculous price of $7 a pint (!!!!), one would think you could at least expect a full beer. Server should never have brought it to the table knowing that it was subpar, especially when it would have been so easy just to fix. As nice as it is to have a Southern soul food joint in Flagstaff, the food and service lacked authenticity. I'll probably give them another shot for breakfast.
