We stopped in Flagstaff during a roadtrip. Yelp gave Aloha 4.5 stars. We were skeptical about good Hawaiian food in Arizona, but tried it anyway. The food is great. It's as good as we found in Los Angeles. We had the chicken katsu and bbq beef.

Decided to check this place out since it is fairly new. I was looking for pork but all they have is pork mixed with cabbage. I prefer just pork. So I went for the beef bowl. I thought I would start off with some cheap just in case. It was good. Nothing to write home about. The sauce was OK. Nothing special. I kind of feel it's a BBQ sauce out of a jar that he doctored up. Had a funky flavor to it that tasted similar to any other hawaiian japanese type place, fast food. I will try it again cause it is cheap and OK. Sometimes cheap and OK is OK in my book. Does not have to be stellar all the time I guess. But Thats said the place sort of stunk like dirty dishwater in the back. I will try it once more to make a true review out of this. I have had better, much much better but this is ok for Hawaiian in the pines.

Best mac salad on the planet. We lived in Hawaii for a while, and this place captured the tastes, the carb loving attitude toward food, and the spirit of friendliness of the local drive ins on Oahu. I had the katsu and it was good. The portions are huge, even the mini had leftovers. The ribs were also good. Very inexpensive, great food. Love it and will be back to try more stuff to go with the mac salad. Or maybe I'll just get a huge helping of mac salad and call it a day.

Tasty and true to the islands, but nothing beats Hawaiian food from Hawaii!!

All I have to say is this place is amazing! Great food, great service, excellent prices and portions, BBQ sauce was super tasty. Great place for the person who is seeking lots of flavor and is feeling carnivorous.

We came here with a cousin to check it out. Being from Hawaii let me tell you this is pretty close to what I can get back home. The portions are good for the price and the food is super delicious. They cook the food right behind the counter so you can watch them prepare it which I thought was great. The owner himself was in there doing some of the cooking which is pretty freakin' cool, and he was really friendly, they have great customer service. He came over to see how we were liking the food and offered a sample of his cucumber kim chee (Which was delicious). Someone came in after me and asked if they could sample an item off the menu and sure enough he did. I haven't seen any Hawaiian BBQ places do that before, so big plus on that. I wanted to try their chicken katsu and bbq teri beef, they let me get half and half even though it's not on the menu. The Chicken Katsu was PERFECT, not overly crunchy, tough, or burnt like i've had at some other places. This was crisp and perfectly golden. Oh man it's been a while since I've had chicken katsu that good. If you are in Flagstaff you GOTTA come here, it's awesome! The only downside is finding parking, when we went there we were lucky enough to get a space, but it can be tough to find someplace to park.

I'm sorry but I wasn't impressed and not necessarily all by fault of the food. The staff here like to yell at one another, especially the woman working the register. She yelled at everyone and looked equally annoyed at customers. When we ordered a boba, a little lady from the back emerged, and the cashier woman yelled at her. This lady from the back brought our teas and seemed so friendly and nice, only to get yelled at. I just don't get it, is it a cultural thing, pardon my ignorance if so? The egg rolls are gluey, frozen concoctions I gather. I ordered the beef and vegetable bowl with rice. The meat was way too marinated. The rice was gluey, the veggies were good though. I ate about half of the bowl. It's expensive too. Egg rolls, beef and veggie bowl, two bobas: about $25. Don't think I will be back.

This place is a bit hard to find, but it was a pleasant surprise to find. I had never actually eaten Hawaiian food before, but this was pretty darn good and very different. I got the manapua (steamed sweet port buns). Mmmm! The dough is made of rice I believe and had a soft and chewy texture. The filling was sweet and savory. My boyfriend got a beef dish and enjoyed it as well. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, and the decor is tacky/Hawaiian. The menu is very extensive and I look forward to going back and trying something else new! This is a great Flagstaff find!

I'm not sure how to review this but as for the food it was great... But my complaints are about the Styrofoam plates and plastic forks...When I eat in I don't expect a boxes lunch feeling and beside the amount of trash this causes, and for this reason alone our family will not return until this is resolved.. Simple fix is to get a dishwasher!

  • Dennis W.

The quality was good, but the quantity was not what I expect from a hawaiian bbq place, I dont think it compares to L&L but a solid place to eat.

  • Richard W.

The people here are very friendly and will gladly tell you all about the menu. I had the chicken plate and it is really good. I love the macaroni salad. It's a great place for affordable, yet tasty food.

Good, quick, great prices. Like the atmosphere. The BBQ chicken was excellent. I'll definitely go again when in the Flagstaff area.

Maybe it's because I live in a place with many good food choices, but I don't get the 4 and 5 star ratings for this place. The food is just Ok and the place itself is a dump. We were served on styrofoam take out containers (we were clearly eating in) with flimsy plastic utensils. The decor isn't funky cute, it's "i don't care enough to ask for anyone's help, even if I don't have a clue." The people were friendly, the macaroni side was good, but really? Find somewhere else,.

We love this place! All the food is great. We have been in about 6 times now and each time we try something new. We have never had something we did not like. Our favorites however are the chicken katsu or the Kalua pork. The mac salad is amazing as well!

This place is awesome. After suffering through seemingly endless Mexican food during a tour of the American SW, the food here was like a godsend. Having finished several days of hiking in snow/ice/mud in the Grand Canyon, I was absolutely craving anything warm with a hint of Asian influence for my palate. Not being an expert on Hawaiian food, I figured it would be one more exploration to add to the list. Aloha is decidedly casual, but in a good way. The staff here are all very nice. It's a mix of self-serve and being served, with food being plated on styrofoam and plastic utensils, but hey, it's all in good fun. Onto the food. I would say the dishes here are rather eclectic. The first time here, I almost died with delight when I saw they had noodles. Saimin noodles, which shows distinctive Chinese flavors, can be ordered with an assortment of meats, including fish, chicken, and spam. The noodles are reminiscent of wonton noodles, and the broth is a clear, light and also similar to the soup base prepared for wontons. I realize that spam isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's a Hawaiian staple. It's also a star in the Korean dish, Budae jjigae, which if you haven't tried you should. Anyways, they also had kimchi for 99 cents, which came out in a small ketchup-sized container, better than expected and went well with the saimin. Had the thai tea boba, which was decent, if not a little too sweet. The Aloha BBQ mix comes with beef short ribs (much like Korean Kalbi), sliced beef sirloin (also similar to Korean bulgogi), and chicken (teriyaki-ish). Steamed rice and macaroni salad come as sides, nothing remarkable apart from having steamed rice again after countless rounds of Mexican rice and beans was a portion of bliss. I actually came here 2 days in a row for the reasonable prices and simple, but delicious food. The fact that it's one of the few decent places that's open late is also a plus. Recommended if you're passing through Flagstaff and want to try something different without breaking the bank. On a side note, when I ordered the saimin noodles, I asked for white pepper, which is a common Chinese condiment, but not a normal condiment at this restaurant (teriyaki sauce, sriracha, soy sauce are readily and openly available for customer usage). Instead, the owner actually took out a giant white pepper container they had for cooking in the kitchen and gave me a small portion into a small condiment container. On my second visit, I didn't even have to ask. The noodles just came with it. That is service. I thought that was pretty cool of them to remember.

Northern AZ. You are amazing. I was a little bit cautious about trying Hawaiian food in Flagstaff. But as soon as I walked in I knew this spot was legit. I ordered the tuna poke and it was good, I do not expect Oahu quality tuna in AZ. It was still pretty good nice ration for only like 12 bucks. The amaze ballz woman ordered the bbq combo, it had chicken, short ribs, and some steak served with the ubiquitous hawaiian 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. It was really good and amazing value. The place became super packed after we ordered and dishes were made fresh to order. Aside from this being a great find, downtown flagstaff is just a really cool, friendly, unique place and if you are in the area several days should be afforded to this town

I wanted to like this place more, but it was just OK. However, I admit my standards may be high having eaten at many places in Hawaii (Kauai specifically). The young man at the counter was wonderful -- very friendly and happy to accommodate a substitution. The restaurant itself was clean and quiet -- a pretty standard 'hole in the wall' kinda place (in a good way!). The portions are huge (yay) but come in styrofoam containers (boo) whether you dine in or not. My dining partner got the Katsu Chicken, which he quickly devoured and subsequently raved about. I went with the more Celiac-friendly BBQ Chicken. It was pretty fatty, bland and oily. The BBQ sauce (thin in consistency and found in squeeze bottles near the soda machines) helped a little, but ultimately I just wasn't impressed. My partner really did enjoy his meal, so maybe I just chose a weak dish? Next time I'll try the Fried Rice instead.

A nice break from the norm, and I'd choose this over Panda Express or greasy Chinese any day. My wife got the chicken katsu and I had the BBQ chicken. It's BBQ as in grilled on a BBQ - rather than with BBQ sauce. Which is a good thing in my opinion - seemed to be marinaded in something, but flavor wasn't overpowering. Tasted good, and the katsu I sampled from my wife was crunchy and delicious. A lot of other people were ordering it too, so must be popular.

Ate here again recently after a long hiatus and found that the management had changed, as had the portions and the price. As longer term Flagstaff restaurants often do, they lowered the portions and increased their prices. The customer service was okay, just okay. The food was oilier than it had been in past visits, and the portion to price ratio was skewed heavily in favor of the proprietor. It didn't appear that the ingredients had gotten better, the inside was still a dump, and you're still eating with plastic utensils and out of foam clam shell containers, so where's this extra money going? Not to good customer service, ambiance, cleanliness, or ingredients. Too bad, I really used to enjoy this place.

I craved this all summer long! The mixed BBQ plate is amazing.

Nestled within the bar streets of Flagstaff is this laid back, informal, but totally delicious spot. Don't expect the type of food you would get at a Hawaiian BBQ place in a shopping mall. Their BBQ has a light but tasty flavor that's not doused and dripping with sauce. The dishes we tried were primarily chicken, so I can't speak to the flavor of the beef. We also got the manapua, which are what I call baozi, or Chinese steamed buns. But they have BBQ pork inside. The buns were soft and not too thick. Lastly, the young man who took our order was just so friendly and nice and brought out order to us with a big smile.

This place is delicious. I personally always get the Aloha BBQ Mix. It's a solid choice that gives you a taste of everything, for those indecisive people like me. The customer service is great and it has made a frequent customer.

We came to get some Hawaiian food. I had the healthy chicken BBQ with brown rice with veggie egg rolls and my hubby had the BBQ steak with Mac and white rice. Yummy!

Huge portions at small prices! Stopped in for lunch while spending a few hours in Flagstaff. I had the mini size fried fish combo and my husband had the chicken katsu. Mine came with rice, macaroni salad, lettuce, and fried/breaded fish along with dipping sauce. It was HUGE for the mini size! Also had a thai tea with boba. For 2 "mini" size combos and a thai tea, it was all less than $20 and we were stuffed...we didn't even eat dinner that night! So if you need to feed a bunch of people yummy food on a budget, stop here! The breading was perfect and fish cooked perfectly! Boba was nice and soft in the tea!

  • Brock E.

Pretty good food, pretty good prices. Only thing I disliked was that they did not have a true Hawaiian Teriyaki sauce. It was more like soy sauce, super thin and not sweet at all. Other than that, this place is great.

I was not expecting to find da kine ono grinds in Flagstaff, but Aloha Hawaiian BBQ was an unexpected delight! I got the BBQ mixed plate, which came with BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, and short ribs, plus rice and mac salad. It was all awesome! Broke da mouf! My dad was from the islands and when you grow up in a Polynesian home, you got a big appetite, but I left full and happy! I also got a boba Thai tea, which was likewise delicious. I would definitely recommend Aloha Hawaiian BBQ and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Flagstaff! They treat you like ohana!

  • Becca F.

Love the boba! I come here all the time, the Thai tea boba is amazing with a couple scoops of the Mac salad and some sesame balls! The family that owns and runs the place is super nice and adorable, I will always stop by here whenever I'm back in Flag.

Our first visit, our order taker provided great, knowledgable answers to our questions about the menu. Our food was prepared to order, hot when served. I disagree with the styrofoam takeout style trays, but all was good.

I can't believe this place gets good reviews! This was some of the greasiest food I've ever had. Ever. There was nothing edible here. There were 5 of us and we were going to share all the food. Not one of the meals was good.

During our stop in Flagstaff on our vacation of the Southwest, Aloha Hawaiian BBQ served as the perfect break from all the Mexican food in the area. The BBQ Beef and BBQ Short Ribs tasted very similar to Korean BBQ but at much lower prices. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The short ribs were better than the beef, in my opinion, but the chicken katsu blew both the short ribs and the bbq beef out of the water. The chicken katsu was amazing! The panko breading was great and light - not hard and overly fried as it can often be at other places. It was by far the best katsu I have ever had. The sauce with the chicken katsu seemed more like a sweet and sour sauce, however. The portions here were huge! Each order came with three large pieces of meat. Compared to Korean BBQ, that's nearly three times as much for the same price.

  • Terry C.

This place was delicious. Nice little gem in Flagstaff. I had the poke tuna and it was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. My children had the chicken and it was moist and tender, full of flavor and with good size portions. Overall the entire family left full and happy.

Unfortunately have to give a negative review. Affordable but you're probably better off going to Panda Express. I'm from out of town and found this place with Yelp with high hopes, as I've never had Hawaiian food before. Got the chicken katsu and the chicken bowl- seriously thought I was at Panda Express. Sorry, disappointed!

What a treat to find in this mountain town! I was so excited to hear about Aloha Hawaiian BBQ which actually, news of this establishment has reached Albuquerque, NM! We don't have any sit-down Hawaiian grindz in NM. I came to have lunch here on Saturday afternoon after taking one of the toughest exams in my life. I was starving and basically brain dead from the morning exam. I was sooo looking forward to having lunch here and I was not let down at all. :D I ordered the Aloha BBQ Mix plate...2 scoops rice, 1 scoop mac salad, and a MOUNTAIN of meats! BBQ beef ribs, beef kalbi, and chicken. OH my god....the chicken was amazing, juicy tasty thigh meat! The BBQ beef had very nice flavor and was tender, not tough. I was starving and I ate the whole thing! I was ridiculously filled up and was happy I was going for a hike after this mammoth meal! I've been to Hawaii a few times, this lunch was very reminiscent of my trip there. The menu has many items to choose from...I can't wait to go back to try the kalua pork and saimin, katsu, musubi...:D Tip: Mac Salad with Sriracha --- =(^o^)= Oishii!

Lots of food. The mini katsu is enough for two meals! Tasty. Everything is prepared when you order it. It isn't as good as L&L in California but it's good. It is located of the street in a small shopping area. The place is a bit of a "hole in the wall" place. The decor is dingy but the place is clean. The staff are very friendly. Give it a try!

Driving coast to coast - I can only take so much burger and pizza and had a craving for hawaiian bbq. Now, we're coming from the SF Bay area where HBBQ is everywhere and good. We walked in, place a bit suspect, homeless young guy sitting at one of the tables.. Got the BBQ mix, it was tasty, wish though the rice and mac salad were big servings but having malasadas was a huge plus!! As we were eating, a group left and homeless guy went to the trash bin and syrted to take out food. Owners saw this and cooked him food instead - when he was given the food, he actually got up and left, almost mad. I get it, pride and possibly embarrassment but he came back and said to the owners, thank you for being kind to me. I was gonna get him an order once we were done but its great to see small business owners take cate of their community. For this- I added an extra star!

Really good Hawaiian food.. for Flagstaff. I've been here about 4 times. Spam musubi is bomb. Different, but good different. Most of the time the meat quality has been pretty good and flavored very well. This time I got it, the meat tasted a little not fresh. Although they did cook it when you order it. Still flavoring is good. Slightly salty for my taste the first time I got it, but I don't eat that salty normally. I had aloha bbq mix plate and kalua pork. Both were good enough for the mainland. Definitely would be different in Hawaii. Atmosphere is something you find in a small hole-in-wall shop. Not the cleanest, but has good food.

Food was solid and authentic. The boba was also great. The interior could use a little help, but seeing as everything is served in styrofoam, I guess it fits.

  • David S.

All of my food was bland and oily. I had shrimp and brown rice. Both were completing unseasoned. How does this restaurant even work? Where do I get condiments for this tasteless food? Oh, in these dirty disgusting bottles in a dark corner. I'll go wash my hands after touching that. The drink machine area smells bad. Closest thing I can pin down to describe the smell is sewer smell. Fried mac and cheese was so oily I could hardly taste the cheese. Shrimp wasn't quite as oily, but surely went straight from fryer to plate. Actually, they don't use plates. Everything came in Styrofoam. So wasteful. Service was friendly and food came quickly - the only point of salvation for this place. 2/5 and not coming back.

A great way to eat cheap if you're passing through Flagstaff or on your way to the Grand Canyon (or returning). We paid $20 for the chicken katsu and the spare rib, chicken and meat trio and this provided enough food for all of Ol' Dirty Bastard's kids. On top of that, the food was damn good. I can't imagine we received the highest quality of meats and such, but the flavor was on point. The side of rice and macaroni add to the heaping servings and are good as well. Honestly, one person could probably split either of these dishes and leave full and satisfied. But maybe you don't wanna share and just wanna pig out, in which case, I highly recommend the above-mentioned dishes.

Better than average but not exceptional. Deserves 3.5 stars. Chicken Katsu is good. Large portions. Good prices. Friendly staff. Give it a try.

Really good food. I have eaten there at least a dozen times and always delish, and fresh. The lo mein is authentic (tho they call it chow mein) the poke is amazing and the soup with noodles is super tasty tho a bit salty. The bbq beef has so much flavor and is real tender. I have introduced others to the place and they have all loved it. The only complaint I have heard from my guests is that the boba is tasteless. I have not tried it. A little gem in downtown Flag.

I'm always curious how the food is going to be growing up in Hawaii and coming to the mainland as we would say back home. We'll first off I ordered the aloha BBQ mix and some mini malasada's. Gotta try the malasada's since we only get those back home. Funny to find it in the oddest place like flagstaff and not someplace like Vegas. So first off the aloha mix. The kalbi is not bad, kinda small though but the BBQ beef and BBQ chicken are okay. The Mac salad was good though. Next the musubi. You basically can't go wrong with a musubi unless you put to little bit rice which aloha didn't. There's was just right. Now finally the desert. The malasada here is basically a piece of bread dipped in sugar. So it wasn't really a malasada and it wasn't dark enough either like the real ones from Hawaii but hey at least they tried. I can only give them 3 stars but they are truly are 3 1/2 stars here. If you want the Mac to taste like a real Hawaii Mac salad you can put a lil bit of pepper and shoyu(soy sauce)

I ate it. It was bearable, NOT the GREATEST meal. Looked like it had been sitting for awhile. I didn't get diarrhea so that's a plus and the reason for the two stars.

This place is a destination spot every time we head to Flagstaff. The BBQ chicken and chicken katsu are really good. We tried the fried rice for the first time on our second visit of the weekend. They use their BBQ chicken in the chicken rice, which is awesome. The shrimp rice was equally good, however I wish there were a few more to enjoy. A nice twist is the chef adds shredded cabbage to the rice. Great food. Great place.

  • Megan D.

The food here was simple and totally awesome. We both ordered bowls, one chicken, one beef, and were really impressed with the flavor they packed into such a basic dish. I also tried the Thai tea boba, and it was decent. The boba were a little overcooked, but the Thai tea itself was tasty enough that I'd like to try some of their other flavors. The staff were friendly, and though the interior was fairly run-down looking and not incredibly well-lit, it was clean. The menu was a bit of a mess to look at, but there's a good selection of authentic looking food, and the prices seemed reasonable (basically $20 for two people to have a good-sized meal). Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place, and I'm hoping the Aloha BBQ in Dallas is related so that I can try some Hawaiian BBQ again soon. Just a side note: This place is not the easiest to find if you aren't familiar with the area. The GPS will tell you it's directly on the right side of Route 66 when you're passing it, but you'll have to actually walk into a little area between the buildings, and Aloha is one of the last places on the right.

Solid option if you just want the resemblance of how authentic Kalua pork tastes. They also had P.O.G. - and tho canned and from concentrate, again it's a solid choice for where it is, Flagstaff, AZ. Don't have high hopes and you'll be satisfied - gets the job done just fine! I'd come back.

DO NOT LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS! I asked what kind of fish was used for their fish dish, I was told Mahi so I ordered it. It was NOT Mahi but maybe Basa which is absolutely NOT Mahi! It was mushy & gross! If I had known that they would LIE about what their serving I would have never ordered it! I guess they assume their customers wouldn't know the difference?? Too bad I had to give only 2 stars for this because everything else we ordered was really good. I would have given this place 4 stars if it wasn't for the fish issue! But only 4 stars because the place is pretty dirty. Everything is sticky to the touch & the salt & pepper shakers were completely empty. We ordered the BBQ mixed plate & coconut shrimp besides my nasty fish plate. The meats were marinated perfectly & the coconut shrimp was very tasty w/ a lot of coconut flavor, granted it probably is bought frozen but nevertheless it was good. The rice was dry but the mac salad was really good. My daughter is now @ NAU & says she'll come back just for the mac. Again, too bad the Owner had to lie to me about the fish, if you eat here, just don't order the fish.

Don't let the location and looks fool you. Better Hawaiian food than I could find in most of San Diego. Ordered the BBQ mix and was not disappointed. Short ribs, beef, and chicken were all on point. Girlfriend got the chicken katsu and that was bomb too. Macaroni salad was some of the best I've ever had. Great portions for the prices. If you're craving Hawaiian while you're in Flag, this is the spot.

We were passing through Flagstaff on holidays and turned to Yelp to find a tasty but not too expensive eat, and we ended up at Aloha Hawaiian BBQ, which is in a little mall area set back from the street front. On a cold Winter's night, the food at Aloha went down a treat! We had the BBQ mix with the kalbi (beef short ribs), BBQ marinated beef and BBQ chicken, served with rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The meat was tasty, though (minor minor gripe) the short ribs could have been a little more tender. We also had the Aloha saimin noodle soup (soup noodles with a fried egg, grilled chicken and spam) - pure comfort food for me. Tasty and reasonably priced! Yelp didn't lead us astray this time! :)

My husband gets mad that I compare but I'm from Hawaii. What can u do? I got the terriyaki chicken plate and was pretty good. I even really liked the Mac salad. We ordered a side of kimchee and it was pathetic at best. I also asked about the Manapua. It's not fresh (didn't really expect that at all honestly, but had to ask). I didn't order it. My husband had the Kailua pork bowl and enjoyed it. Spam musubi was also okay. Over all was fine and hits the spot if you're missing home and now live in the smallest town in New Mexico. Or you can just make at home, but there's something to be said about having someone else make your plate lunch!

Solid Hawaiian BBQ, nothing extraordinary, but all the dishes are done well. I've had the BBQ combo- of the three, short ribs are the best, though all three meats kinda taste the same, a little salty but good. Chicken Katsu is very good, not overly greasy, and the macaroni salad is also good. Great place for a quick, relatively inexpensive dinner.

I Love this place!!!! I lived in Hawaii for 4 years In Pukalani and just moved to flag about 3 months ago in May. Whenever I need my Hawaiian food fix I go to aloha hawaiian BBQ of the 66. The Katsu Chicken is Bomb and the rice is so sticky I can't get enough. It can be tricky to find, it is tucked behind Flag Brew in the alley way. so if you can find some parking then stroll on over and get some authentic Hawaiian BBQ

Stopped in for a boba and malasadas. Hmmm. I' sure the food is good, I'm a huge fan of Asian street food, but don't spent $4 on one of their boba drinks. It was bad.

Generous portions at a great price! Chicken Katsu, BBQ Chicken, and short ribs were all good. Service was relatively quick, faster than most L&Ls that I have been to. Staff was really nice. May be a bit hard to find if you're not familiar with the area - can't see it from the street. I trusted my GPS and it got me there just fine; just had to deal with the limited parking in downtown. Lots of variety; will try other things next time we're in town.

I had never eaten Hawaiian food since I am highly allergic to pineapple before Aloha Hawaiian BBQ. I was reluctant to go here due to my food allergy and mental association of Hawaii to pineapples. They assured me there was no pineapple juice in anything they served or prepared. I had the Ahloha BBQ mix. It was a very delicious meal with chicken, beef and short ribs. Each item was well seasoned and cooked. It's a nice place to go if you're in town, but there are better restaurants in Flagstaff (Delih Palace or Diablo Burger).

I like this place! We went in on a Sunday at 9 pm and were very surprised to find that they were open, the must not know about Flagstaff's bedtime yet. The food was good, we got the Chicken Katsu and it was tasty and crunchy! It was also freshly made (you can see into the kitchen so we watched them make it). All dishes come with rice and macaroni salad. I will have to go back to try more food as there were many dishes I've never heard of! The employees were very friendly and answered all of our questions. The place itself was not beautiful, but it was nice enough. It kind of reminded me of a fast food restaurant in terms of decor, but no one was in a hurry to run in and out. Also, the soundtrack consists of one song. Seriously. A nice little Hawaiian tune that just plays over and over and over again. I think I had it memorized by the time we left.

Our group of 7 was looking for a cheap place to eat after a full day at the Grand Canyon. So glad we found this little place in Flagstaff. There was something for everyone in the group. The adults and kid who got the burger regretted their choices when they saw the amazing chicken katsu and beef chow mein a couple of us ordered. It was super delicious and huge portions. If you are the chi chi type who eats at PF Chang's and need decor and mood music. This place is not for you. Its a mom and pop outlet. Great food. Reasonably priced. We'll be making this a definite stop whenever we pass through Flagstaff.

Tasty food with big portions at really cheap prices. It's also open a little later than a lot of other restaurants in downtown, which is what brought me there in the first place.

Passing through Flagstaff on way home to Texas and consulted Yelp for options. Decided to try Hawaiian food for first time ever because of rave reviews. Wow. I had chicken katsu and BBQ beef which was excellent. Macaroni salad was delicious. Hubs got bbq combo plate which he liked (yay-he's a meat and potato kinda guy). Restaurant in fun part of town, super casual and friendly. Gotta find me some Hawaiian food in Texas.

I had dinner here Wednesday July 17, 2013. The portions are good sized, the service is friendly and the prices are fair. I had katsu chicken and barbecue chicken. There was plenty of flavor but the meat was fatty. I also had sesame balls for dessert and while the server said that the katsu, fish and sauces were all made in house, I saw the cook taking these out of a plastic food service container. They tasted okay, but I figure, why am I going to a restaurant to buy something they didn't even make? Overall, the place is a solid three stars.

Aloha, Flagstaff! I came to this restaurant at 9 pm on an exciting Monday night. It looked like the best option even if we were looking for dinner before all the other restaurants in Flagstaff closed. When we came in the restaurant was empty. One of the cooks- a cute old asian man- was eating a delicious looking soup (available on the menu I believe) at a table and a nice girl was at the register. She was helpful and patient while we made our selections, we took a while. The old man got up to help cook our food as soon as we ordered. My friend and I both ordered the Aloha BBQ mix. I ordered mine with the beef and she ordered hers with the chicken katsu. I think we both preferred the beef, but she really liked the sauce that came with her chicken. The meals also came with fried shrimp, fried island fish, rice, and macaroni salad. Everything was yummy and worth the price. What really struck me about this restaurant was how hard it was for me to choose what I wanted. They had so many options that looked amazing. If I lived near this restaurant I would frequent it and try everything. My next order would definitely be the kalua pork! So, yes I do recommend that other people visit Aloha Hawaiian BBQ. It is a great value, the service is on par, and the food will make you happy.

Yum. This place hit the spot! The bbq mix combo was good, but the aloha saimin soup was excellent! It was my first time I the area so I did not know exactly where to go, it sits off the street just a bit. Next time I'm in flagstaff I'll go again.

One of the best values in Flagstaff. We visit the islands once a year. "Aloha" is absolutely authentic and as good as anything on Maui. I love the Kalua pork, my wife the fish and my kids the musubi. It's the real thing and always great.

I limped (literally) into Aloha the day after a mega day trek in the Grand Canyon. It was Easter and a lot of places were closed. I get a craving for katsu curry about every 6 months and I figured that Aloha was one of my better options for ethnic fare in Flagstaff. Unfortunately, they did not have curry so I had to go for straight up katsu. The staff were extremely friendly (+1 star) and I watched the cook make the katsu from scratch. The musubi was a little pricey in that you had to buy 2 pieces at $4, but after I saw how big the "mini" was I didn't miss it.

First hawaiian food I've ever had, so I can't attest to it's authenticity, but I love this place! I get the musubi at least weekly and I've had all of the flavors except for the grilled chicken. Katsu chicken and beef are my favorite. I have tasted their short ribs and chicken dishes and they're great as well. Everyone that works here is lovely, and you're always greeted with an, "Aloha!" I've heard folks complain that all the food is served in styrofoam, but this doesn't really bother me. I suppose a more biodegradable option would be nice. Great sauces!

Downtown Flagstaff has some really good restaurants, including several excellent Thai restaurants. But this past year, every time we ended up downtown at dinner time, we would go to the Aloha Hawaiian BBQ. Although the short ribs and kalua pork are our favorites, we have tried several other items and have never been disappointing. Even in Hawaii (where I went to college), the local food is not always as consistent as this. The owner/workers are all from China (not uncommon for a place like this) and they have some Chinese dishes on the side wall that I would like to try some day. We have not had the boba here, mostly because people we know have said that it is not that good. And yes, the lady behind the counter is really good a remembering her customers!

I adore Aloha BBQ. The food is consistently great, and the service is outstanding. The folks who work there are truly the friendliest crew I've ever encountered in Flagstaff, and somehow they remember me every time I come in even though I don't get the chance to drop in that often. Lots of very unique food. I'd never had Hawaiian style cuisine before checking this place out, but it's awesome, and they don't skimp on the portions. And as others have said, their macaroni salad is amazing, and I'm not even a fan of macaroni salad normally. A wonderful place to grab lunch or dinner, especially if you're looking for something a little different.

Hawaiian BBQ is one of my favorite cultural dishes. Love the way the marinate the meats. I ordered the meat combinations chicken, pork and steak...Wow incredible taste. Also my favorite is the short ribs. The white rice was the best I've had in a long time. The only issue I had was, they did not need to put the shredded cabbage, to make it like underneath as a filler. Mac was also tasted really fresh. My sister ordered the soup, I tasted it. It was ok. My brother in-law ordered the same thing I ordered. My friend Steve ordered the baked salmon, it looked good. I was not craving it.. This Restraunt was Awesome. Very reasonable price, thats also reason why I gave it a 5 STAR!!! Would highly recommend this place o anyone.

Took our family of six for lunch and it was a hit all around. The macaroni salad is absurd, quite possibly the best I've ever had. The grilled salmon was a little dry but still nice flavor. My two little ones loved their burgers and the two older ones greatly enjoyed the coconut shrimp and fried fish. My only complaint was the rice was not super flavorful. Aside from that, this was a hit.

I ended up here after a disappointing dinner at Altitudes Bar & Grill (never go there). Everything I got here was delicious and fast, my only complaint would be that it's not the cleanest place, but the food sure is good. If you go to NAU or live here, you are one lucky camper.

One of the best restaurants in downtown flagstaff and one of the only places I've been able to find food downtown late at night. Its a bit tricky to find, you have to head down the alley way from Aspen to find it. BBQ is amazing, and so are their manapua and their spam musubi.

I'm reviewing this place solely on the boba so when I have time I may go back and try some of their other dishes. The pictures looked good and so did the prices; $4.50 for 12 sesame balls! I know it sounds nuts getting boba when it's 15 degrees outside but after months of procrastinating I finally decided to come here. Plus I just got back from spending my winter break in California where I had boba, like, every 3 days so I was craving it. The boba selections are limited but for small-town Arizona I guess it's expected. They have taro, Thai tea, green tea, mango, and some other fruit flavors. I was kinda hoping they had generic milk tea but I guess not. I got the Thai tea and it was good but there was a hint of another flavor, not entirely sure what it was. Slightly reminiscent of the scent of incense but it actually got better as I drank more (or I just got used to it). The pearls themselves were kinda funky as well, they were chewy but grass jelly-esque. The customer service is good, though! I was the only customer there at 4 in the afternoon so the owner and I chatted it up while I waited for my drink. I assume it's a family owned place because I think his kids were sitting at a table eating. There was a small whiteboard off to the side of vegetarian options haha, catering to the Flagstaff crowd.

This is probably one of the best places in Flagstaff to eat lunch. Its not waiter service, so you get your food fast, but its not fast food, so its good. Even though there is not waiter service and tip is optional, the service here is great! Everyone was really nice and friendly. They constantly checked up on us and made sure that I had cups for water, asked if the food was okay, and when they noticed we were out of rice but still had food, asked if we wanted to get more rice. The service was actually better than some waiters I've had before. The food is cheap. Most of their menu options are less than $10, but even with such low prices for a restaurant in Flagstaff, there is still alot of food on the plate! The food is good. Even though its cheap, the quality is still good. Me and my sister almost always get the poke which is essentially sashimi (usually tuna as it is here) that they drizzle their sauce on. So if you can take raw fish and its texture, I recommend it. The sauce is sweet, but not overpowering. It is a nice compliment to the fish. And the dish (at least the large one) comes with rice and their macaroni (which is mixed with not the typical cheddar cheese, but some kind of creamy sauce). However, their barbeque plate is good too! This is asian barbeque though, not like the typical Rudy's or other ribs place. So the sauce is lighter and sweet. I like it alot. The chicken and short ribs are tender and savory.

I was surprised that they opened a restaurant similar to L&L back home. I was so excited to go there and eat. Oooh, how much I miss kalua pork. The first thing I order was that. I never buy Kalua pork plate back home. But the taste was pretty good. I want to try something different next time I go there again. They get real interesting food. The service was great. They would come ask us "how we were doing" like a few times. Since they were Chinese, my roommate was able to communicate with them. I just understood a little. It's a very cute and nice restaurant to try. Just to feel how Hawaii food are like for those who never been to Hawaii...and those who are from Hawaii, it won't make you as homesick.

I ordered the Kalua pulled pork with cabbage, a typical dish in these kinds of Hawaiian restaurants. Also tasted some BBQ shortribs and breaded fried fish from my friend's plate. Everything was quite tasty, though I'm not a fan of the styrofoam containers they serve the food on. The proportions of pork to rice and macaroni was a little bit off, too. Too much pork, not enough rice to eat it with! Aside from the food, the restaurant staff were warm and inviting (with a friendly "aloha" as we walked in). The atmosphere of the restaurant, both its people and its decor, make this a typical college town restaurant, but in a good way. The meals were priced perfectly for a student on a budget!

Super nice people who allowed my friends and me to eat there after they were closed for a few minutes. The orange chicken was really good, and I had some of their fried chicken (whatever number seven is) and really liked it. The macaroni they have included in the meal is excellent, too. The portions are really large, and my friend who ordered some "small" variation of chicken could not even finish it. For late night food downtown in Flagstaff, this is the best place to eat. Primo's has nothing on this place.

I wanted Teri Beef and Kalula pork but there wasn't a combo that had both. I was deciding and telling my friend my dilemma when she said we can do whatever you like. Excellent customer service and good food. A little taste of Hawaii in Flagstaff, AZ of all places. Last time it was close to closing and they didn't try to herd us out. :)

Checked out this place at about 3pm on a friday. was completely empty. that first pic you see of the ramen type soup was really taken by an exceptional photographer, in person it will come out looking a bit different. having whined about the presentation enough, - it was good. I had the saimin bowl aloha style and gyoza, while neither were knock my socks off delicious, they werent bad at all. I will probably go back and try something else to give the place a better shot. It was ridiculously cheap btw.

The staff here have always been welcoming and attentive. I usually order the Chicken Katsu with white rice and french fries instead of the macaroni salad and it is always very authentically tasty and satisfying. The prices are very reasonable and you can fill up for less than $6/person. This place is in a hidden little area in Downtown Flagstaff and it's great for lunch or dinner.

It was okay hawaiian food. The spam musubi was okay. The manapua was okay (a lil small in size). The chicken katsu was good. The kalua pork had way too much cabbage and wasn't that greasy. I wouldn't really go back... Sorry!

As a Hawaiian and former Hawaii resident, I can say this place is pretty good. Doesn't hold a candle to places at home, but it's a good substitute. I've tried a few things here, but usually will get the BBQ chicken plate, all rice no mac salad (yuck - nothing against theirs in particular but I don't like mac salad). It always has good flavor. I've also had a few of the vegetarian entrees - fried rice and chow mein. Both were good, but nothing really special and really greasy.

This place is delicious! We just got to town and stumbled upon this somewhat hidden restaurant. First they invited us in for samples, which were amazing. So after wandering around stores we decided we had to return here for lunch. I had the BBQ Chicken Plate. The chicken was moist and tender, and the sauce wasn't too sweet or thick. And the macaroni salad that came with it was the best I've ever had. My partner had the Chicken Katsu plate and he thought it was very good. He said the chicken was nice and tender, flacky and crispy, and the sauce was delicious. Oh, and it was lots of food for a very low/reasonable price.

My husband and I went to Flagstaff over the weekend and found this place to eat. He ordered the Aloho BBQ mix and I ordered the BBQ sandwich with the Boba drink... the sandwich was pretty good, nothing to be overly impressed about. The Boba drink was by far the worst I have ever had...The best boba drinks I've had are in San Francisco. The staff was pretty friendly but the place looked like a hole in the wall... tables were broken the booth seats were ripped and there was not any hawaiian decor that I would expect to see on the walls to give an "authentic" experience. Was it good food? Yes, and reasonable priced... but I won't go back there either.

Heck yes! What a great value! A ton of delicious bbq served in paper boxes. The food reminded me of my mom's Korean food. I recommend the short ribs. But really you can't go wrong. A ton of meat for less than $10.

I was so happy when they opened this place in Flagstaff. I have always loved hawaiian Bbq and other hawaiian foods, and this place sure does a pretty good job at it. I usually always get short ribs, they are my weakness. Not going to lie though, I have recently fallen in love with the aloha saimin.. Oh!! it is sooo good and addicting. the noodles are just a perfect texture and consistency, the broth is flavorful, a healthy portion of bbq chicken, a slab of spam, and a fried egg. what more can you ask for? Will definitely try to visit here again before I leave.

I am from Hawaii and all I can say is WOW. The family and I were heading north from the valley for a long Labor Day weekend camping trip. After the 2 and 1/2 hour drive from Phoenix, we were hungry and decided to pull up Yelp! to check if there were any Hawaiian food restaurants that were a must while up north. We pulled up Aloha Hawaiian BBQ and with 4 stars and reviews from people who had supposedly had good Hawaiian food from their annual trip to Hawaii we figured there must be some weight behind the buzz...boy were we wrong! The saimin (noodle soup) tasted as if there was fish sauce in it-it was literally the worst saimin i have ever had. I would choose Ramen over this saimin-I took 1 bite and threw the rest away. The loco moco (white rice, topped with a hamburger patty, topped with an over-easy egg, and then slathered in gravy) tasted like they added Chinese five spice to the gravy and had barely let the frozen burger thaw before slapping it onto the grill. The chicken katsu lacked flavor and the husband compared it to cardboard-the only thing saving it was the sauce which was not bad. It is a small restaurant that did not have enough seating for the crowd that was waiting to order (they must have read the Yelp! reviews also). There is this awkward metal lawn table and chairs almost positioned in the walkway from the door to the counter, and this ended up being the only place for us to sit. Luckily a table opened up before we got our food-although there are 3 chairs, the table is maybe a foot and half in diameter, which is not enough room for 2 large Hawaiians and a kid. The ONLY reason I gave it a star at all is because there is not an option to give negative stars...never again, I would rather make the 3 hour drive to Mesa, STARVING than eat here again!

  • Katlyn S.

This place was recommended to me by my roommate. The first time I went we got the chicken katsu as per recommendation by the cashier. I've also had the BBQ beef and the spam masubi. All delicious I might add! It's also fairly cheap if you just get food and the music is always entertaining. The one complaint I have is that all the food is in styrofoam containers no matter if you are eating there or not.
